    Day 27 NZ NFD 70.9kg ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Excessive rain across the country, swollen rivers, flooding and slips and the guy in the house below just mowed his lawn in the pouring rain????? He’s part of the duh, Homer Simpson tribe…Humidity 90%

@stitchincarol May your DH’s mother be kept comfortable during this last stage of her long life๐Ÿ™
@brightonbelle and @mollie Enjoy your bank holiday!! I hope you are doing nothing much except enjoying yourselves!!
@northgeorgia That’s great to hear. you’re really getting it together. Your weight might be up (understandably๐ŸŽ) but you sound much more in control๐Ÿ’ช
@funshipfreddie I have hot water and a gas element via LPG bottles. On occasion I have run out and have had a cold shower… it is so invigorating AFTERWARDS!!!
In the winter of discontent in the 1990s Auckland lost power for more than a week… The transmission relay centre failed… I was working in critical care at the time when the power supply cut out to the hospital… The hospital generators were working but they were supplying the CBD not the hospital. What CHAOS!! All the ventilators, monitors and IV pumps etc were alarming. We had to detach the patients from the ventilators and the visitors and admin staff had to squeeze the ambibags to ‘breathe’ for the patients while the RNs ran around trying to sort the drip feed drugs out, manage blood pressures, do blood gasses to make sure the patients were oxygenated properly…etc etc etc The operating theatres were in full swing… It took half an hour for the engineers to believe us and realise that the hospital really didn’t have any power because it was going to the city centre… It was amazing nobody died but they didn’t – we were after all trained to react to emergencies!! It occurred at 10am on a week day so we had daylight and lots of people around. If it had been the middle of the night and we had been plunged into darkness who knows what might have happened… I have never forgotten how half an hour can seem like half a day!!! This makes me think of the hospital staff working in places like Gaza and the Ukraine trying to do their best for their patients against the odds…
@jaifaim I thought you were going to congratulate me for a minute there but we have had a shared weekend experience. I can do one big meal without upsetting the apple cart (haha!) but two back to back…???
@snowflake56 Your cat must have been too well fed or a genuinely nice cat!!!๐Ÿ˜†
    @excelsior12309 Lucky Mojo didn’t meet a Python…๐Ÿ˜ณ
Oh dear, my black humour is coming out… time to post…

    Steely RESOLVE!!!
Only 5 days to go!!! (to Spring๐Ÿ˜„)

    Evening!
Had a nice day today, hubby went to an antique fair, I walked Xena at the park next to it then we had a quick walk by the river & up through the town- even having had a run first she was still loopy & excited ๐Ÿคฆ popped to see youngest son, didn’t take her in his flat as he’s not supposed to have pets, not sure she’d have liked the stairs, she’s such a weird one with different floors ๐Ÿ˜‚ Did quite bit in the garden this afternoon.

Day 26 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

Well, I’m up another two pounds, but am still holding out hope the loss I reported on Saturday is a true loss. DH’s mom is in hospice, has been given “weeks” to live (however long that is, and did I already say??) and when we went to see her yesterday, DH’s three siblings and spouses were all there as well, so at supper we gathered over pizza and beer at one of their houses. Plus ice cream. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ So the random day of eating to success has shown up on the scale; I’m hopeful my good behavior today will change the scale to a more palatable number.

Yesterday and today were/are hot and humid–I walked out the door at 7:30 yesterday morning and my sunglasses were immediately foggy from the humidity. When we got to church a block away, the door there was also fogged up. Ugh. The high will again be close to 100, but more telling is that at 1:40 in the morning, the temperature was 84F/29C. It’s always more miserable when it never cools off at night.

I’ve read all the posts, but have no chatter in me this morning. Have a dental appointment in an hour to get my teeth cleaned, the taxes need more work, I want to knit, I’m making eggplant parmesan for supper tonight–lots on my mind and it’s always in the back of my mind to wonder if we’ll need to race off to see my MIL again.

So, I’ll quit and hopefully be chattier tomorrow.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 26 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 234 lbs. And one more NFD, because a colleague wanted to take me out to lunch today. Appreciated, but wow how I long for a FD. I’m hoping I can do Tues/Thurs this week. Then there’s a holiday weekend in the U.S. And here I was thinking summer would be easier to do FDs than the winter holiday period LOL! Anyway, I’ll get back on track. I’m already sick of cake and sweets, although I really haven’t overindulged by ordinary standards, I certainly have had more than I want in my WOL!

Anyway, I did banish the reflux last night — I decided no cake after 5 p.m. and no food at all after 9 p.m. Seemed to have work.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone off to the speedwa I really like my new charger and I think my son will like it to buy he can’t pinch this one. A dull day but dry so all good for speedway. Had to much bread yesterday so will keep an eye on that. No Idea what to have for tea, will have a think about it while at the track.

    Hedgehogโ€ฆ
I had no signal from the tower so I donโ€™t think the bank would work.. I did have some power but no connection at allโ€ฆ I think I do have one somewhere Steve used it while in hospital.
A camping stove might be good idea
Well done on the 4 lbs off the keto does suit you. I miss the beach walksโ€ฆ.

    Dave..
Enjoy your roast lamb my favouriteโ€ฆ it was chilly yesterday much better todayโ€ฆ

    Day 26 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – NFD 70.7 kg

@metatauta – 30 – 40 g carbs per day; I guess that’s pretty much Keto? I use MFP sometimes too, but I’ve been trying to navigate the Carb Manager app. Not so easy. I’m also reading ‘End you Carb Confusion : A Simple Guide to Customise Your Carb Intake for Optimal Health’ by Dr Eric Westman. I’m nor really confused, but it’s interesting

@merryapple – ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m not sure what would be worse – lighting the fire + spices or wearing Old Spice?! ๐Ÿฅด๏ธ It’s expected to reach 23 C around noon, so I’m going to attempt a cold shower after lunch ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

@snowflake56 – I normally only need to charge my phone once per day, but as I’m trying not to use my laptop, & I can’t use my TV I’ve been using my phone a lot, & I need to charge it at lease twice per day. I’ve got a few power banks though too, which have been great. I guess if I get desperate I can always drive around & charge it in the car ๐Ÿ˜…

@jaifaim – I’m doing fine. Taking @merryapple‘s advice & trying to Look on the Bright Side. I’ve been without running water before now, & that’s much worse than not having power. I hate to think how much food people have had to throw away though

Morning all! A quick post from me as we set into this last week of August. Iโ€™ve had a lovely fun weekend with friends staying and like @merryapple while not super excessive Iโ€™ve eaten two big evening meals so I am feeling it this morning.

    Day 26, Germany, FD

Lovely temperature this morning, 17ยฐ. It will go up to 20ยฐ, a good temperature for line-dancing.

@funshipfreddie I really hope the electricity will be back tomorrow and life will be more normal again. It’s good to have a small gas stove, at least you can heat water to wash yourself or to make a cup of tea. Your visits to the cafรฉ did pay off, how often do you have to charge your phone?

@excelsior12309 Your dog must have been a brave one, but dachshunds are! My Dad once lived in a house where he had mice. They came from the radiator covers in the floor. We always took our cat with us when we stayed at his house. They never came when the cat was there but as soon as we were gone they came back. They were clever mice, we never found a dead one and our cat was good on catching mice. He never killed them though, he brought them in the hallway where we had a piano. As soon as he let them loose, they ran under the piano. We caught the mice with a bucket and a piece of plywood and left them free again.

@jaifaim Yes, the weather is weird this year, the temperature goes up and down and we had way too much rain. Our garden is beautiful but quite wild and because of the rain we had this year everything grew a lot. We’re not allowed to cut back bushes or trees too much because of breeding birds until the end of this month but in September we want to take out some plants and bushes.

    Day 26 NZ FD 71.3kg ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I had two evening meals over the weekend, which weren’t excessive but here I am pinging back up to over 71kg… My day times were in complete control otherwise the numbers would have been worse!! “Always look on the bright side of life!!!” Thanks, Monty Python!!!

@northgeorgia What a fabulous weekend you must have had!! And only a few pounds up!! Well done!! And you know that reflux can be banished!!
@metatauta Could you mix your routine up by switching it around every so often and have a big meal for breakfast, like poached eggs and slightly less at dinner time?
I do think meat keeps you feeling fuller for longer. But if you are eating a low carb diet doesn’t that mean you’re already eating more like a carnivore with a higher ratio of protein and fat to carbs??!! You sound so busy so not being able to shift those last few pounds cannot be down to sitting around and watching TV…๐Ÿ˜
@funshipfreddie Still no power… You will be reeking shortly๐Ÿ˜† May be you could try a set up like the Bedouins who light a fire inside a teepee shaped ‘dress’ and put delicious aromatic spices on it. When you get hot and sweaty inside the tent, you’re cleansed from the inside out and left with a musky spicy smell. Does that remind you of a certain aftershave…hmmm…. Old Spice๐Ÿคฃ
@molij Good on you doing an extra FD… I definitely need to find time for an extra one… Hard to do when I’m not feeling particularly motivated in other words, loving my food!!
@excelsior12309 I haven’t had anything to do with HRT but its great that something is able to help with those symptoms… Your slow descent is working well for you. Well done.
@snowflake56 I know when you plant an apple tree grafted onto root stock it takes 6 years to get a full crop. The growers stress their trees to get a full crop annually. Oak trees produce a big crop of acorns every 7 years. I also notice my citrus trees come and go in terms of what they produce.
@stitchincarol You’re really getting on top of this ‘when and how’ to eat!!Yeah!!
@jaifaim Yes Let’s hope our MIA friends are girding their loins in preparation for the beginning of next month๐Ÿ˜„

    Day 25 – USA/TN NFD

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! @funshipfreddie, sorry you are going through the loss of power…hope it gets resolved soon….yes, I am doing LCHF, and I try through MFP to keep under about 30-40 carbs a day. I think my jump from maintenance to 4-5 lbs in the past year comes from not intermittent fasting. That’s when I lost the most and was at my ideal weight (138). I only have 2 meals a day, but my first meal is in the a.m. and the larger meal is at dinnertime when I come home.

  • Atomic August ๐ŸŸข๐Ÿ”ต๐ŸŸก

Day 25 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

Just a quick post to report: I’m up a pound, but I’m certain it’s water weight, because I weigh myself before bed every night and pretty much always lose two pounds overnight, but I was only down one pound this morning…thus, I’m certain it’s water weight. And, I ate well–with restraint, in other words–yesterday, so being up a pound makes no sense if it’s not water weight.

So now to “behave” today! A day at a time, right?

One response: @northgeorgia, the fact that you’re still at 233 after all your birthday commotion says you are restraining yourself quite admirably; well done!

I don’t know if Chloe would like a beach she definitely would not run around on it. I’ve never particularly liked beaches apart from when I was very young. At least it’s not raining Roast lamb for tea๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹my favourite.Denise s been doing around 800 calories every day so she said she’ll have a day off today, but won’t go to mad.

    Afternoon!
Jean- what a pain yesterday! I would definitely get a camping stove if I were you, & some extra camping gas cylinders, they’re not too expensive…most of the power banks you just keep charged & use to charge your phone, if WiFi is off at least you can still make phone calls…
Dave- well done with the bowling! Hope your son has a good trip…Chloe sounds such a sweetheart ๐Ÿ˜˜
Nana- good you stayed the same after your busy week! Enjoy the good weather when we get it now I think, hope the cider festival is good!
Hemmy- enjoy your garden today, don’t work too hard! Yes, keto is definitely easier with the boys not around!
I’ve lost nearly 4lbs the 1st week of keto, it’s usually just water weight though! We were planning a BBQ Friday but the weather didn’t seem good first thing, today started lovely so invited mum over, now it’s turned chillier & windy ๐Ÿ™Ž Yesterday poured all day so didn’t go to the mini festival here, I could hear the music when I took Xena out last thing, it sounded good…took her to the beach this morning for our walk, it was beautiful!

Weigh-in: 233 lbs. Two more NFDs to go… will the celebrations end? I know the unhealthy things added over the weekend have made my acid reflux come back and with a vengeance, and usually at 2 am! I’m going to watch about when I eat in the evening tonight to see if that will help.

    Day 25-No VA USA-FD 800

Weight today is down a pound from beginning of Atomic August, so the trend is right. Congratulations to @stichincarol for finding your mojo! (We had a mini dachshund for 17 years whose name was Mojo! He survived getting bitten in the head by a copperhead and stung by yellow jackets whereupon his head swelled up to the size of a pit bull. But he just kept bopping along.)
@funshipfreddie, I feel for you in your dim light and cold weather! I hope the situation corrects itself soon!
@molij, full sympathy on the HRT situation. I was on HRT for many years, and I loved it. Hot flashes were the worst, and I was one who suffered with them for many years, if I didn’t use the HRT. It really helped with “quality of life.!”
Belated happy birthday, @northgeorgia. September will be your month to go down!
@ccco, I am impressed that you have the energy to care for a wild toddler, after all your health adventures this year. They are fun at that age, but you can never let your guard down around them!
The mouse saga continues. Traps are set, and we have two cats on the way to help repel them. More to follow….
@flourbaby, best of luck with your move!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning All.
A good walk down bridle paths, across the fields.. all the crops are being gathered in.. autumn on its way..
A beautiful morning it does make you feel good.

Planting Steveโ€™s planter and a bush/tree needs 4โ€™ cutting off to make it more manageable. I did one and it looks ok now itโ€™s growing. I need it smaller then I donโ€™t have to climb on my 6โ€™ steps..!

    Hemmy..
Well done on the weight I am a tad up 4 lbs I canโ€™t seem to shake it off maybe after my hols.
We are both in the garden today itโ€™s so lovely but not too hot. Quiche always a good choice enjoy..

    Dave..
I do have a power pack somewhere.. it wouldnโ€™t have been any use as the mast was down too.. must get a camp stove to keep in the garage, at least I could have a cuppa and a bacon butty!!
We are so close to the power station and we go off every time..
Your new charger sounds a good investment..

    Jean x

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone, I’ve bought a wireless charger that will charge my phone, watch and ring I charged all three together to try it out and it works great. Jean you must get a power bank then your phone will be charged on the next power cut. We have a gas hob so if the power goes we can still make a brew.I just tried my Bluetooth earbuds on my charger and they work on it as well๐Ÿ˜. It looks a nice sunny day so won’t get wet on our walk. Speedway tomorrow at 12noon against Sheffield then the return leg at Sheffield in the evening. They call it the war of the roses.Sheffield Tiggers ride at Owlerton stadium and that’s where Chloe used to run, she’s not as fast as the bikes in fact she’s so slow now I have to pull her round, they’re are 3 women who for outside in the sun having a glass of wine and they all laugh when I go past with Chloe. They say I see she’s pulling again๐Ÿ˜.

Just a quick stop in today between tasks.

I’m trying to get back into a controlled eating plan, with mixed success.

Cinque, “My brain is a tortoise.” That has to be the best opening line ever!

Thin, enjoy that curry. I was meant to be having a FD salad for dinner but I don’t feel like it. I’m about to heat up some homemade tomato soup instead.

Take care all. I’ll try and pop in for longer in a day or so.

    Day 25 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – FD

@stitchincarol, @snowflake – the power failure is really annoying. A few hours is one thing, but days/weeks?! But more so for people who are running businesses, needing to get kids ready for school, or/& just getting to/from work with all the traffic lights not working. And then there’s all the spoiled food that will be thrown away. What a mess?! Anyway, our municipality is working on getting a transformer relocated, & expects to have this done by Tuesday. Not sure if that means it’ll be up & running by then. I don’t have a generator – they make such a racket! And inverters – some of my neighbours have them, but they’re very expensive & they only work for two or three hours before the batteries need recharging.

@snowflake56 – I have an electric stove that I hardly use anyway, but I’ve got a little portable gas stove I can boil water on. Our care centre has gas stoves though. They prepare meals for the people who stay there, & we all have the option to go for lunch there every day. I’ve never actually eaten there yet though. I went to my local cafรฉ yesterday, hoping to charge my phone whilst I had lunch. But it seems everyone else had the same idea, & all the power points were taken. As I’m a regular there, one of the staff members took my phone to the kitchen & charged it there. I’ve got my laptop on ‘battery save’ & I’m peering at the screen because it’s so dark ๐Ÿ˜…

@stitchincarol – I’m the same with my tax return, always leaving it til the last minute. Although it only takes a few minutes once I start it. Never do today what you can put off until…whenever ๐Ÿ˜›

    Happy S๐ŸŒžnday!

Cinque, how many coffees are you allowing yourself per day? Hurray for ‘three things a day’ no matter how little. Do you not put the kitchen things away at the time of using because you are inherently messy or because you simply don’t have the energy? (I hope we’ve known each other long enough that it’s not a rude question). ๐Ÿ™‚

FD Sunday for me. Enjoying my two coffees (liquid breakfast and lunch). It’s a Hairy Biker Thai chicken curry with low fat (ugh, but not too bad) coconut milk for dinner at 5pm. Day 25, Germany, NFD

We had a lot of rain, thunder and wind last evening, it was great to see all the large trees swaying. We were better prepared this time so the basement stayed dry.

@merryapple It’s always sad when people or dogs you get along with are moving. Even if they are not so far away, things change.

@stitchincarol Well done! I’m glad we can take everything related to taxes to someone who does it for us. It’s complicated as our income comes from nine different sources. We just bring them all the paperwork and a few days later it’s finished.

@molij It seems damson trees are like walnut trees, they have to buy old to give you fruits or nuts. We have a quince tree that bossoms beautifully and makes quince but before we can harvest them, they either fall off unripe or they split in the middle. On the apple tree we have years with loads of apples and years with only a few, just like the mirabelle tree.

@funshipfreddie That is very annoying esp. when the repair takes such a long time. Do you cook on gas? Being able to heat water would be great. Washing yourself at the sink is doable, back to the past again!

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

It was a trip to visit my friend who moved from the UK to Perth 32 years ago. I decided that I should go now before I get too old and my arthritic joint in my foot stops me from travelling. Singapore was a 2 night stopover and no one I saw looked overweight. I then flew from there to Sydney, Cairns, and Perth before stop over in Dubai to break up the flying time to Heathrow. I hardly saw anyone overweight which is interesting.

My friend in Perth has gained weight over the years but this time has lost 30Kg in 6 months under the supervision of a professor who is hoping to show that rapid weight loss is both healthy and sustainable. Its a 800 calories a day using shakes/soups.

Another friend who has needed a knee replacement needed to lose weight before the surgery could happen. She has lost 21kg through having one meal a day-usually early afternoon. She has a new knee and is aiming to lose another 10kg for the other knee in January.

I have found that no snacking and fasting at the weekend means that I can lose inches and pounds. My real problem is that next week I am back at work where biscuits are around and lunch is free but generally lots of rice/pasta/potatoes. And Cake Thursday. My plan is to review where I am and how I feel each weekend.

I hope that you feel better snedger.

Iona, I can see that was a bit of a shock and well done with the weight loss.

I want to lose 14lb by the end of the year. I have an annual review in January and I would love to no longer need the tablets for blood pressure and cholesterol. I have found that my foot is much better having lost weight and that’s another incentive plus I have lots of clothes that I can’t get into.

Lets see where we are next weekend.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening All..

Busy doing holiday things then we decided to go to garden centre for coffee and cake ( biscuits for Charlie) bought some plants for Steveโ€™s planter.

Freezer was fine, we had about two hours electricity in the afternoon before it went off again.. I am sure they do it just to tick them over.. they have done this before. I must buy a camper stove just to make a cuppa the power seems to go off often these days.. I must investigate it.

    Nana..
You seem to have had a busy enjoyable week.. the cider festival sounds good.. Kay would like that.

    Dave..
These dogs do test usโ€ฆ.taking over completely .. they definitely keep us under controlโ€ฆ

Thank you, I hope so! I like Dr K Berry too he talks a lot of sense!

@iona72 the carnivore diet would work for me, but, as I’ve said before I get some carbs from beer, but am still maintaining a lower weight, which is nice.
I supplement with an electrolyte drink, I was doing that anyway, as every summer I was suffering with heat exhaustion.
My favourite youtuber is Dr Ken Berry, he doesn’t mince his words.
Hope you get your numbers down.

    Welcome back Annette, Hi Snedger.
5 pounds is a brilliant result, well done.
Big news from me is that I have been identified as pre-diabetic and put on the national diabetes prevention plan by my GP. This came as a big shock and has taken me some time to come to terms with. The plan is a low carb approach and I’ve already lost about half a stone (fear of eating now!)
I shall keep you informed how it progresses but needless to say I’m a little more serious about my weight loss and my fasting.

    Day 24 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 161.2

That weight, my friends, represents not just a decent day yesterday, but a 1.2 lb loss over last Saturday, which was also a 1 lb loss over the week previous to it. So, I’m not ready to say I’ve finally found my mojo, but I’ve found two weeks of it. One day at a time…

@merryapple I’m sad for you that your friend with the Westies is moving. It’s not SO far to go, but certainly too far for a simple walk each morning or a spur-of-the-moment coffee. That’s a good way to describe the designer’s style.

@metatauta Good to hear from you, and happy 70th!

Oh, NO! @funshipfreddie That’s simply going to feel intolerable, I would think. Will you try to buy a generator? And so many people!

@molij Oh, going to the knit and stitch show together sounds so much fun! Be sure and update us in November about your adventure!

@northgeorgia Happy, happy birthday!!!! As my birthday gift to you, I wish for you a total lack of appetite, zero interest in food, and RESOLVE!!! ๐Ÿ’ชโญ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‚ (I’ll bet I’m the only person, ever, right??)

I can’t say I’m going gang-busters on our taxes (I have to do all the bookkeeping and information gathering for the year as well as then enter it into TurboTax), but I’m making steady progress, and am feeling peaceful and not stressful or resentful. There’s something to be said for doing taxes at a time of year when DH and I are not hip-deep in Lent and Easter preparations, which is generally when tax day falls (April 15)! Of course, if I simply did it all early, like at the beginning of February… Every year, I promise myself that NEXT year I’ll do it early. Never have. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 24 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 233 lbs. Well, hate to say it, but it may get worse as the birthday celebrations continue at least through Monday… It’s hard to balance out the sweets in any meaningful way, isn’t it? ๐Ÿ™‚

@funshipfreddie If there is anyone left when I turn 60! I went to a mid-career retirement seminar last week and down the hall was a pre-retirement (within a few years) seminar. A co-worker and I were marveling at all of the college’s admin team and our own divisions walking past the door and we said, “oh my goodness … are we going to end up having to run the school in a few years?” ๐Ÿ™‚

    @metatauta Happy 70th!

For now, Tuesday looks like my next FD, but I do have a monthly meeting that morning, and the group sent me birthday greetings this morning, so….

LOL, best wishes for a great weekend to everyone!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone how are we all today. I had to much to eat yesterday so must do better today. Chloe was messing about on the bed this morning,I would stroke her head and when I stop she would poke me with her long nose until I did it again๐Ÿ˜ she’s a little monkey. When I got up she’s straight on my sofa stretched out so I can’t get on it, she does this every morning. She stands up to let me sit down then flops down again and shoves her bum on me๐Ÿคช.

    Day 24 North Wales ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ FD

Decided to do an extra FD this week. Nice day here in North Wales today. Very busy though as itโ€™s the bank holiday weekend.

@stitchincarol I am very impressed with your water fast and even more impressed with your sweater. I have a great aunt who can knit like you. She is amazing. We go to the knit and stitch show every November in Harrogate. She buys yarn and I buy fabric.

@merryapple does Paisley not like walking up the mountain?

@funshipfreddie so sorry to hear about your power going off, I hope they manage to get it on sooner rather than later. A couple of years ago we had a power cut for two days and nights. That was horrible. Two weeks sounds horrendous. Your flower pot picture looked amazing. Thank you so much for the savoury donut recipe. I used to love them when I was in my 20โ€™s. Melktert was another favourite of mine.

@snowflake56 you can take HRT for ever in the UK if your doctor will continue to prescribe it. Some doctors encourage women to come off it after a few years. I love damsons. We planted a tree in our garden about 20 years ago and still only have a few plums every year. This year it was 5. I did read that a damson tree needs to be very old before it regularly produces fruit.

@jaifaim I didnโ€™t see the spam either but then I only ever click on this thread.

@flourbaby not long to wait now for your big move. Hope it doesnโ€™t take you too long to unpack every thing when you have moved.

@northgeorgia loved what your workmates did for you for your birthday ๐Ÿ˜‚

@ ccco your granddaughter sounds delightful, such a lovely age.

@metatauta happy 70th birthday. Hope you had a wonderful day x

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Morning everyone, sorry for not posting but have been out everyday this week. Monday was nice as we went to Hunstanton known jokingly as sunny hunny and it was lovely and sunny, we enjoyed fish and chips.
Also have resumed our Wednesday lunchtime meet up with one of our friends whose able to come again after having a hip replacement. Sadly our other friends are still unable to make it yet.
Not unsurprisingly I stayed the same weight this week.
Jean what a nightmare with the power cut, hope you’ve not lost to much frozen food.
Dave nice to finish with a win.
Nothing planned here for the weekend, however, our village pub are running a cider festival for the bank holiday weekend so might pop in there on Monday.
    Hope everyone is keeping alright.

Morning all! Hmmm I may use the forum alightly differently as my landing page is โ€œRecent Postsโ€ so I see all recent posts on all threads and thatโ€™s where the spam wasโ€ฆ
@metatauta great to see you! And sorry to hear you are having to work harder at the moment as your colleague is out. Happy big birthday to you!! ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ Iโ€™m not surprised you donโ€™t have the same staminaโ€ฆ I feel the same but only in my 50s ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Iโ€™m sorry to hear both your two legged and four legged friends are moving away @merryapple – you will miss them a lot ๐Ÿ’•
Well done on your WFDs @stitchincarol ๐Ÿ’ช
@ccco you will be kept moving with that little one ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’• thatโ€™s the best way to have it – enjoy!!
Okโ€ฆ a relaxed day and then fun with friends this evening.

    Day 24 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – NFD

Power off again?! No-one said living in Africa would be easy, but…? ๐Ÿฅด๏ธ Just after 11 am yesterday. Our suburb, + over a dozen neighbouring suburbs. Caused by the collapse of four high-voltage transmission towers due to ‘ageing infrastructure & rusting’ or ‘vagrant sabotage’ – depending on what you read. Temporary repairs may take up to two weeks, & permanent repairs up to three months ๐Ÿ˜ญ My friends +300 km away suggested I go & stay with them, But they’ve got dogs, & I can’t put Boo Boo in the cattery again. Twice in a month, she’ll never forgive me. So I told my friends I’ll see where we are in about a week, when I start to get smelly & I’m running out of clean clothes ๐Ÿ˜… I think I’ve still got enough tepid water for a quick shower, before I’m reduced to boiling water & washing in the sink. I’m not taking cold showers in winter, I don’t care what they say about how healthy they are ๐Ÿฅถ๏ธ

@northgeorgia – ๐ŸŽตHappy Birthday to You! ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿฅณ๏ธ ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿฅ‚ Your colleagues sound like fun. I hate to think what they’ll get up to when you turn 60! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@merryapple – “Yes, but she’s got 4…” ๐Ÿคฃ there’s nothing exotic about my lunches! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yesterday it was a cheese & onion omelette & a slice of rye toast. I guess my lunch is really my breakfast though, as it’s my first meal & I REALLY look forward to it.

@flourbaby – I’m glad you like the picture of the pot. I’ll probably use it as a guide, but I doubt mine will look anything like that. I hope you’re getting better sleep by now. I can imagine what you’re going through; I got so stressed out when I was preparing to move here from Durban a couple of years ago (my 4th move in as many years) & I wasn’t even working! I got some pills from my doctor, but they just made me feel worse.

@metatauta – belated birthday wishes to you too! ๐Ÿฅณ๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚ You’ve been following a LCHF diet for nearly 8 years? I’m slowly trying to get back into it. What % of carbs do you consume? I think I could stick to it if I allow myself around 100 g per day.

@jaifaim – congrats on remaining in maintenance, despite having been away ๐ŸŽฏ I also saw/reported the spam posts. Four of them, all with different user names, but probably from the same individual. The shortcut on my phone takes me to the ‘Latest 50 Posts’, so I usually spot them. Seems to take forever for them to be removed though.

    Have a good, power outage-free weekend everyone โšก๏ธ ๐ŸŒค๐ŸŒˆ

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

    Wow, that’s quite a trip!
5 lbs isn’t bad at all, I reckon a week on holiday would do that to me.
I had a stomach bug 2 weeks ago, I probably lost weight, still have no appetite, I’m lying in bed listening to the rain, no food in the fridge and really don’t feel like popping out to the shops.
Good job I did my favourite waterside walk to Birstall yesterday, showers all day are forecast, might drag myself off to the pub to watch the Brighton win at lunch time.
Keep going with your 14 lb goal!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning Allโ€ฆ
    Another day another dollarโ€ฆ
What a day yesterday no power for 20 hours, no WiFi, no phoneโ€ฆ we did get a couple of hours on for a couple of hours in the afternoon. 7am to 4am.
We managed to go to the next town and with fingers crossed the chippy was open.
Lucky our village hall had power on so managed the cancer charity coffee morning but not many people turned up as they thought it was off.

    Hedgehog..
Chris was moving around better legs still swollen but she had her slippers on normally itโ€™s thick socks only.
Cole is looking for uniโ€™s but also looking at the military, they can do uni exams as they go. He wants law and politics but still not sure..still another year at school.
Glad your neck feels much better hope the keto helps again. Itโ€™s nice to change about.

    Dave..
Shame we canโ€™t have a pint at 6 am at the airport and meet up ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃโ€ฆ Miss you by a couple of hours such a shame.

Nothing planned over the weekend.. look in the freezer and see what damage has been done.. more the soft bread type things I will throw..I went in at 9 pm and ice cubes were still solid.. so possibly ok.

    Have a good weekend

    Day 24, Germany, NFD

@metatauta Happy Birthday! A bit too late but I wish you all the best and perhaps a bit less work.

@flourbaby I hope your weekend goes well, perhaps you can do a small walk or relax in another way between cleaning and moving things around.

@merryapple You’re going to be famous! My posts, well, my English, could be better but then it would take me forever to get one finished.

@stitchincarol I thought my mother was a good knitter but this sweater is unquestionably something else. I’m never hungry in the morning so I don’t really need a breakfast. My DH is always hungry and on some days I’ll join him and we have breakfast together. We never eat anything after 6:00 pm, we’re never hungry after dinner.

@jaifaim I haven’t seen any spam either but thanks for reporting it. I hope you have a very relaxed weekend, you deserve it!

    Have a nice day everyone!

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

    Morning All,
Just home after a month away visiting Singapore/Australia and Dubai. The damage was 5 lbs which I thought was fine and the measurements are exactly the same.

Going forward, as of today the goal is to lose 14lb by the end of the year, which seems quite reasonable. Made a start by skipping breakfast yesterday.

    How is everyone doing?

    Day 23 – USA/TN NFD

Sorry I haven’t been posting at all the past week….been researching the carnivore diet, as I have been on low carb for quite a few years, and since I only wanted to get back down about 5 lbs, and have not been completely successful, I noticed that when I eat more meals with meat, my weight goes down! I’m working a lot, as one of our co-workers has been out with cancer almost a year, and they just cannot find anyone who wants to do what we do, lol, so I try to fill in when I can. Had a milestone b-day last week, hit the big seven-oh….and notice that I don’t have the stamina to work a full week as I used to.

    Day 24 NZ NFD 70.5kg ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I took Paisley the Scottie up Mt Eden this morning in the rain and boy did she womble so I walked backwards most of the way… People going past kept saying Oh, she’s got short legs and I replied Yes but she’s got four…. Tonight we’re having a dinner because our friend with the two Westies is moving to Hamilton which is 1 1/2 hrs drive away…๐Ÿ˜ข They are such sweeties ๐Ÿปโ€โ„๏ธI am really going to miss them… and their human!!!

@stitchincarol Great that you’re liking the WF empty feeling!! You must be achieving some loss somewhere!!!
Well then, the sweater should be ready for winter if you’re powering through the sleeves!!! I looked up the designer on Ravelry. He has quite a distinctive natural geometric style rather than the contemporary Shetland style of brighter bands of colour https://www.ravelry.com/designers/ron-schweitzer
@northgeorgia It must be the big party weekend!! Happy 50th from the South Seas!!!โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅโšก๏ธ
@ccco What a sweet age but I imagine a relief when its time for an afternoon nap!!!
@funshipfreddie I look forward to my breakfast more than lunch. However I cook my own lunch so it is not as exotic as yours!!
@jaifaim Thanks for reporting the spam. I can’t see any… Have a relaxing weekend!!
@flourbaby Thinking of you this weekend on what must be one of the worst jobs in the world… MOVING… I hope work sends you home on Monday for falling asleep at your desk!!!
@snowflake56 I love reading your ever so slightly wonky posts!!!

๐Ÿ’ช Steely RESOLVE my Weekend Warriors!!!
    Especially me…

Jean I’ll be in Spain at that time. A beautiful day here today sunshine all the way. My son’s gone to London for a few days so just Denise and I plus Chloe. At bowls today the team I play for on Friday played the “B” team from Monday (I play for the A team) on Monday.I win 21-9 so finished the week with a win.
