  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

It is just so wonderful to have you back with us Cali. I agree with Neil that the weight sometimes drops a day or two later. Same with overindulging can hit you later too

So busy at work so just a quick post. I mentioned that I was hoping to get into the brand new jacket I bought back in 2019 but I tried it on the other day with a zip up fleece on and couldn’t get my arm in the sleeve so I have given up as it was causing too much stress. I found another on online and it has arrived and is too big! No probs, I can get someone to run it in a bit. It fits well up top but looks ridiculous at the bottom. It was originally $150 and reduced to $60 so I can’t complain

Our fridge gets moved only if we have a lizard sneak in the back door and run under it. It is quite disgusting but…..I just don’t care!

Welcome SuzyQ, this is such a lovely and friendly forum. Good luck with 5:2. I lost 15 kilos in 2019 and sadly put most of it back on but I am never going to stop trying

Sorry your summer is pretty bleak Thin, that must be so frustrating given the short summer England has anyway

LJ we use our air-fryer in a similar way to you. I thought we would use it a lot more but it is handy for when we do use it

Must run, promise to try harder to post more

    Day 16… Florida……NFD

I am so sorry. I was MIA for a week… I had the week from hell!

I was reconfiguring a showroom on my route in a showroom that believes in running their A/C very little….. I got super super sick… So sick I ended up in the ER. After speaking with the Dr. apparently I was suffering from heat exhaustion. The Dr. is believes that I had a hot flash due to being in menopause. When the hot flash started, I was unable to recover due to dehydration and having nothing in my system due to is happen to be a FD for me.
He put me on complete bed rest in a dark cool room, no electronics, nothing with blue light and absolutely no sun light exposure.
I also got a long lecture on not getting plenty of fluids in extreme heat. Funny thing is he a firm believer in the benefits of IF, but believes that participants in IF do not getting enough fluids during their fasting times. He also suggested that at least once a day, a small amount of salt should be added to your water. He tried to explain it to me but I was over it by the time he got to that…. I just wanted him to stop talking so I could go home….. Truth be told…

End story…… please please please drink your water!!!!!

I only lost 2/10th of a pound last week, I haven’t had a FD since. I am just sticking with my fasting times but trying to increase my water in take.

I have alot to catch up this week but I will

    Day 17 NZ NFD

I ended up going to bed at 1am last night because I had to bake my sourdough bread… It was ready to go and waits for no (wo)man… I have soda bread from y’day also… too many carbs hanging around the hoose waiting to be consumed…😬It is wet and grey so I don’t feel much like leaving it. Today will be testing…

@molij Good on you!! Thank you for the inspiration!! If you can do it I can too!! Not that it’s a FD for me. It’s a stay in control day!!
It’s interesting not weighing every day. I’m relying on good eating patterns and will weigh in at the end of the week in a bid to reduce my reliance on knowing my scale weight… I will probably go back to daily weighs but this puts the focus on what I am actually putting in my mouth rather than the throw in another FD because the scales are up!!!
@stitchincarol Oh gosh you do have a wee way to go on the DH sweater. It’s wonderful your son is learning to sew!! At least take in and mend at this stage. He’ll be making his own shirts very soon!!
I have been wondering about doing this myself to a couple of favourite shirts… But everything about the shirts are too big – collar, wrists, arms and body so I think I might give them to Womens’ Refuge and start again when I manage to get through the last leg of my shrinking journey… I’m lucky in that I don’t have ‘work’ clothes because I wore scrubs. A male friend who has lost weight has spent a fortune on having his suits taken in… They probably cost an arm and a leg to start with because he is a wee bit of a peacock!!

Hope you all had a good day and are having a great night’s sleep…

    Onward and downward!!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Morning all

Well this week has been better than last week. We’re back to full quota at work (although the guy with busted ribs is popping vast quantities of painkillers) I’ve managed to take my bike the last few days, which always helps raise my mood. My weigh-in this morning I was down 1.2 kilograms, so I wiped off the weight I gained the previous week, I hope I can keep things going.

Suzy, I don’t know about the Aussie rugby, I’m from New Zealand and we had a couple of tight wins over England the last couple of weeks, which I’m always pleased about. I believe Aussie are back on winning ways again as well. Are you vegan if you’re going for a tofu scramble over eggs, or is it purely a calorie thing?

Thin, we have to clean behind our fridge occasionally. We sometimes get mice in our house and they seem to love living behind our fridge, so it really does need to be pulled out and cleaned every time we see our cat crouching down and staring behind it.

Cali, there is sometimes a delay with fasting and loss, I guess it’s if you’re holding on to a bit of extra water, but since I only weigh once a week, I guess I wouldn’t know.

Ljoyce, I tend to eat breakfast on fasts these days, but because my fasts are 800 calories it’s usually a 200, 300, 300 split of food. Breakfast is a couple of eggs, or blueberries and yoghurt. Lunch is a bit of grilled meat and salad, then dinner is a bit more meat and veggies.

Well, back to work. I’m busy this week planning my October bike trip and getting my younger son sorted for sitting his learner’s licence. It did surprise me when he was filling out the application form and asked “Dad, how do you spell my middle name?” when I stared at him incredulously, he followed it up with “Well I never use my middle name”. Sure, but you should at least know how to spell it. His middle name is Lachlan. I said to my wife that we should have given him a 3-letter middle name like his first name “Jay” so he might remember how to spell it.

    Have a great one everyone

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Thin, I must be a disgusting housekeeper too. Moving house or buying a new frig is also about the only reason I move mine. Well, occasionally when it’s “making a funny noise” we’ll move it out and vacuum the coils in back. It’s never pretty! I always think of you when discovering something forgotten in the back of the refrigerator too, or in the pantry, never opened, with an expiration date of 2005. I remembering comparing to see who had the oldest stuff. Lol! Living on the boat must have cured you of that though, having so little storage space.

Well, I lost absolutely nothing on my FD yesterday. And I ate only 465 calories. I know that happens sometimes, but I don’t recall it happening this early on. Oh well, maybe it’ll show up tomorrow.

    Evening!
Dave- try & keep strong, you’d done so well! Have watched some of the lionesses too…have you found anything to buy on Amazon? Tried to persuade hubby to get a George Foreman electric outdoor grill but he wasn’t keen!
Jean- good the painters came back! I think maybe some building societies won’t take money online from a bank, we can’t transfer from TSB to Nationwide?
Hemmy- hope the weather is better for your trip out tomorrow…
Nana- hope the visit goes well with your friend tomorrow, such a long time she’s been in & still a way to go…is her speech affected? That would be so hard 😢
Steve- you make me laugh- how did John Major ever get to be PM?! & have a fling with Edwina 😂
Have done another liquid FD today, it was hard going as I’ve not had tea or coffee, sore stomach & I think that makes it worse. We took the boys prom suits into town, there’s been an appeal for outfits for kids in care, so a good cause. Did our shopping, & weeded the drive, got bitten by loads of ants! Not had too much rain today, lots was forecasted … Supposed to be getting hot later in the week!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

CalifD, I loved your synopsis of Clarkson’s Farm. The rapport he develops with young farmer Kaleb Cooper is priceless. Kaleb is a celebrity in his own right now! We were moored very close to Diddly Squat Farm this past winter so it seemed all the more relatable.

Cinque, years ago a friend was lending me her furniture ‘dolly’. When I asked if she was sure she wouldn’t need it over the weekend, she replied, “Oh no, I only ever use it about once a month to move the fridge so I can clean behind it”. I realised then what a disgusting housekeeper I must be – I only clean behind the fridge when moving house (or buying a new fridge)!

LJ/Cinque, thanks for the info on airfryers.

Hello everyone else. Anzac, where did you go?

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Evening everyone, a mixed bag of weather here in the fens today rain and showers.
Enjoyed a nice weekend after our two days away in Norwich and was careful with my eating and drinking, so fingers crossed 🤞 for Friday morning weigh in.
Am pleased to be able to visit my friend who had a stroke tomorrow afternoon at Addenbrookes hospital, sadly she’s expected to be in hospital for up to another six weeks.
Dave won’t be buying anything in the Amazon sale.
Typhoo love the John Major comment.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Hope it’s someone who likes to attack.Sick of defensive football. Watching the Lionesses at the moment much better than the men, they actually go forward.Struggling at the moment, not got on the scales but maybe for a good reason.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    SuzyQ,

I like to wait until about 5pm and have all my calories together on a FD but then, at my new weight, there are precious few! It’s the only downside of being slim that I can think of. When I was allocated 500 cals, I would eat cauliflower soup at 2pm and the rest of the cals for dinner (minus the equivalent cals of whatever milk I’d had in tea/coffee). Like many people here, I find that, once I start eating, it awakens the ‘hunger dragon’.

You asked for family friendly recipe ideas – I think you may have overlooked my welcome post above (10:58 pm, 12 Jul 24) in which I gave you the link to our recipe page. You will find many recipes there. Feel free to add to add to them. We tried to keep that thread chat-free so that the recipes are easy to find and in the same format with calories provided.

    Day 16 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD – 163.6

I’m very proud to say I did not eat the dessert at the meeting last night. The rest of my day was decent enough in my food choices.

@jaifaim There are days when we simply fail to live up to our aspirations, aren’t there? You’re right: today’s a new day, a new dawn. ❤️

@snowflake56 I’m fascinated by the idea of “computer lesson” that is also apparently a computer club? Do tell us what you do there; it sounds useful and fun!

@funshipfreddie Yeah, it was particularly muggy and awful tomorrow, but the ten-day forecast has us in far lovelier temps. Your quote meant nothing to me. What am I missing?

@merryapple Nope, not done with the fair isle, merely done with the body–and I still haven’t arrived at that lovely moment. Then I have to felt the steeks, cut them, sew the shoulder seams, then pick up stitches to knit the sleeves top down. And I had no idea either on what my son wanted, but thought perhaps he wanted to add darts to take in some of the bulk. Nope. He wanted to take in the side seams and sleeve seams, and re-do the flat-felled seams. GAH. It’s the kind of sewing I’m capable of, but that I never, ever, ever do because I despise it…and he wanted me to help him learn how. Gah, gah, GAH! 😂😂😂 The things we do for those we love, right? It was actually a lovely afternoon, and he did a good job learning. He’s lost 20 pounds, and isn’t happy at how baggy his shirts are, so he wants to do it to all of them. GAH! 🤣

Today is my last day of lessons before we leave on vacation this Sunday, and I’m very ready for the break. It’s efficient to get all the lessons in on one day, but it’s not easy to teach a dozen in one day, so I’m looking forward to the school schedule when I again teach on Thursdays as well.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Good afternoon all

It’s a cloudy wet day here and probably going to stay that way throughout Tuesday.

Well I got on the scales earlier and it was about as exciting as a John Major press conference, I have put a pound on this week so the message is kids do not have a mini splurge two days before weighing in.

    Jean

Step away from the chocolate bars and biscuits just say NO its not worth it just think about all your friends lol.

I see Gareth Southgate’s stepped down as England manager so will now wait to see who the next one will be.

    Day 16 NZ NFD 🏃‍♀️

It was so foggy this morning that all the flights in and out of Auckland were cancelled. I walked up the Maunga through the magical mystical clouds.
I had a friend over for lunch and made a very green coloured celery and sorrel soup flavoured by caraway and fennel seeds plus soda and oat bread. It’s the end of the day and I have just returned from a Maori TV production about the life of our dear friend Tame Iti. There were about 60 of us sitting at tables being entertained by amazing musicians and a conversation on the couch about him.

@brightonbelle I hope your <800 cals went well today. Watching Wimbledon sounds a perfect way to while the hours away! I watched the first programme in the Boris Johnson documentary…
@funshipfreddie I love going out in the cold in my red Harris tweed pirate coat, which I wore tonight. We used to say in London you either had a car or a proper coat and I always had a coat…
@snowflake56 and @excelsior12309 My brother in law had a lovely twin tone Austin Healey until recently… It was stored in a mechanic’s barn down south. The mechanic had two lithium batteries charging in there and they caught fire… very sad…
@jaifaim I hope you enjoyed your sweet treats!! Today is a fresh new day!!
@stitchincarol I’m curious what does “tailor his shirts” mean?! That is sooooo hotttt…
@metatauta I assume Tennessee is hot as well…
@molij Well done on your lovely bike rides!! And keeping the basic 5:2 going. There’s only two weeks to go so let us do this!!
@northgeorgia 🤞for the water heater!! Enjoy your family birthday 🥳

No football for a week or two, nice to have a break but the pre season as started already. Its Amazon prime day today and tomorrow.Anyone buying anything?

  • Strange side effects

    Hi All,

I’ve been doing the fast 800 for about 3 weeks now and have gone from 16st 10lb to 15st 6lb which I’m absolutely thrilled about, however I’m having some counter intuitive side effects and was wondering if anyone else has encountered the same?

    1. My BP has gone up quite a bit despite being previously controlled with medication.
    2. My Pulse Wave Velocity has increased dramatically (7.2 to 8).

I have of course had positive effects as well, my breathing has dramatically improved, I don’t get out of breath on walks any more and I’m sleeping a lot better too.

    Can anyone cast any light?

    Thanks in advance.

I do sympathise with all of you struggling with the heat but we seem to be having a mini winter here at the mo , Sun is expected tomorrow 🙏

    Day 16, Germany, NFD

Busy day today. As the old billiard room carpet doesn’t dry up well, I’ll have to remove part of the books piled up on the table in the middle of the room to try to lift the carpet more. This afternoon we’re having our computer lesson and after that a kind of bowling. Both afternoon clubs include birthday cake, I have to make one for the computer club. I can’t bake so it will be a simple pound cake, it’s the only one I can bake.

@molij I’ve lost confidence in the German Government and don’t expect anything from them anymore after allowing the use of glyphosate for another 10 years. I hope your New Government will do better.

    Day 15 – USA/TN – FD

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Well, we finally got a break on the scorching weather, if you can call 37C and 38 a break. But it usually cools to about 17-22 latest night so we can use the whole house fan (attic fan) at night.

LJ, your cat sounds like she’s gettin spoiled with little tubes of fish flavoured mousse. Lol. Your warm salads with chicken sound great for FD’s. Doing three 800 cal FD’s sounds like a good idea. Is it just as effective as the two 500?

Cinque, I had to laugh at your comments about all the disgusting fluff and dirt under your old microwave. Moving our refrigerator to get behind it almost requires a face mask, which we have a great supply of, thanks to Covid. I dread going behind there!

Suzy, I sometimes make tofu scrambles but never thought to do it for a FD. Great choice because you can add tomatoes and all kinds of low calorie vegetables for very few points. I often will eat a whole bag of frozen Brussels sprouts or broccoli, about 454 grams because the bulk fills me up for few calories. And I like both.

Thin, I thought we had watched Clarkson’s Farm, but only watched part of an episode a long while back. Not sure why we stopped, but started watching again yesterday. Ithink we got through 3 or 4 episodes. It’s very good! I can’t believe how many things go wrong for him, trying to take on farming on a large scale with little to no experience. The sheep farming was hysterical with all the sheep jumping over the fence. Seems like a sheep dog is a necessity. We started watching another series, a new one, on AppleTV called Sunny. Sci-fi with a household robot. I tend to like stories with friendly robots.

Well back to my Monday FD’s. I had almost forgotten the feelings of fasting and making it through the day on such a small amount of food. Hope I lose more than I did last week. .6kg.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 15 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 163.8

My weekend was a combo of excellent eating/choices, and BAD choices, so I’m thankful the immediate damage isn’t worse. Now it’s a Monday, and that will help, except I have a meeting tonight where a dessert is always served…

I was awake in the night, and finally went back to sleep and slept until after 9, so at least I got a full 8 hours. But now the day is fully upon me, and DS27 is due to arrive soon; he wants me to teach him how to “tailor his shirts,” so I simply don’t have time to read and respond to others’ posts. 😞

I have two general comments to make. It’s currently 120 on our gauge outside that’s in direct sunshine. The actual air temperature is 91, and it feels like 101. Those numbers, in order, are 48 / 33 / 38. Ugh. It’s a stay-inside-and-appreciate-the-air-condioning-day for certain!

As to the attempted assassination: I avoid all political talk whenever possible, but am so thankful it was not successful, and am encouraged by all the talk from both sides of the aisle of the need for unity. It won’t happen, but the talk is enouraging for now.

    There, ’nuff said.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Yes England failed miserably. Think it’s time for a more attacking manager.Maybe we should do it like the Americans and have an offensive coach and a defensive coach. We won the speedway world cup and not a mention anywhere.HH I have had my ears done twice and trust me it’s very powerful. They are clean as a whistle after they are done. Had a good weekend and ate sensibly. I have managed to get out on my bike three times over the weekend. We have a lovely cycle track going in both directions very close to where we live so it’s a very safe route. Feeling very hungry today but I am determined to stay strong and not eat before 5pm. I think all the exercise I have done over the last few days is the reason I am starving 😂.

@funshipfreddie those weight loss drugs do seem to be horrible. I would not like to try them. Not feeling the loss today. Not at all interested in football. My husband isn’t either so I feel very lucky. We don’t watch the tennis either.

@merryapple I will join you sticking to the basic 5:2. I haven’t got on the scales yet this month. I am hoping for a surprise at the end of the month. Thank you for the information on how to build a bee hotel.

@excelsior12309 I moan regularly about the weather in Wales but I am glad that we don’t need AC to sleep. I don’t do heat very well.

@snowflake56 we have no mow May in the UK. I think the bees and insects have declined because of the poor weather we have had so far this year. The neonicotinoid pesticide Cruiser SB is highly toxic to bees and has the potential to kill off populations of the insect. It is banned in the EU but our last government agreed to its use every year since we left the EU. I am hoping the New Government will ban its use.

Sending lots of love and hugs to Claire and his children, he will be greatly missed.

    Day 15 – USA/GA – FD

Weigh-in: 234 lbs. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think the water heater stopped leaking (fingers crossed)! My mom and I got a number of a recommended plumber just in case heheh

We had a good visit to my uncle’s yesterday. My nephew’s birthday is later this week, so I’ll plan on today and Wednesday as my FDs.

    Pocket List day 15 🕶️

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning all

A very nice sunny morning here so far hopefully it will stay that way.

Another disappointing end to a major football tournament and beginning to think I’ll never see the England team win anything but maybe the next world cup will be the one.

I couldn’t decide yesterday evening what I should have for tea so settled for a medium pizza with some very nice vegetarian chicken bites from Dominos.

It’s Monday so fasting again today so no food until tomorrow morning’s breakfast.

Good luck to all those fasting today and remember it’s only for one day and tomorrow we can eat normally.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good evening everyone.

I’m trying to type while eating my FD dinner. Probably not the most sensible choice, but I don’t want to run out of time to post like last night. Tonight is a warm spinach salad with greek chicken and a yoghurt-lemon dressing.

SuzyQ, hello, it’s wonderful to finally have someone from South Africa on the forum. We are normally Aussies with a kiwi or two (at the moment that’s just Neil) and a couple of others in the northern hemisphere who are very much at home with us.
I don’t know if anyone else eats breakfast on FDs, but you need to do what gets you through the days and is sustainable over the long term. I do the opposite, and eat as late as possible on FDs. For a 500 cal FD I allow up to 100cal for milk in hot drinks (mostly cups of tea), 50 calories for a piece of fruit in the afternoon and 350 calories for dinner. At the moment the weather is very cold here and I’m finding it easier to do 3 x 800cal FDs instead of the usual 2 x 500cal FDs. The only change for me on FDs is that instead of the piece of fruit I’m having a hot lunch – mostly either veggie soup or porridge. (This doesn’t usually amount to 800 calories, but as it’s more than 500, I feel safer adding a third fast day.)
I’ve never tried scrambling tofu, although with the egg shortage here at present, it might become necessary.
As to what I cook for FD dinners. I use warm salads – a big bowl of leaves with tomato and cucumber. Then a marinate a small half chicken breast or lamb steak and pan fry it. I add greek yoghurt, lemon juice and a little olive oil to the pan juices to make a dressing and finely slice the meat. When tossed through the salad it warms it up enough to be palatable in cold weather. I also do similar things to Neil – make a normal dish such as curry, chilli, bolognese etc but have a small portion with low cal veg rather than rice or pasta.

Cali, I hope 5:2 is feeling comfortable again. Well done on the weight loss, half a kilo sounds realistic to me.
The heat sounds awful, I hope the fires leave you alone this summer.
I will hunt out those missing penguin videos – I will try to text them. I think I had trouble with attachment size when trying to use email.

Cinque, you perfectly summed up an airfyer. I think the name confuses people, it is a little oven with a very powerful fan. I use mine more for baking/roasting than I do for “frying”. I have accumulated a collection of small oven safe trays dishes and ramekins that fit into my airfryer basket that allow me to use it like an oven. I cook everything from a single serve roast dinner to shepherds pie in it. As someone who lives alone, being able to bake a single serve without using the large oven is enormously useful and efficient – much faster too. Things also taste better when freshly baked rather than reheating leftovers in the microwave.

Neil, I hope you are having a better week. When it’s too cold, I keep reminding myself of what it must be like for you in Dunedin.

Thin, your 13C summer days sound a bit bleak, I’m annoyed with similar winter temperatures here – because of the rain. I wouldn’t mind if it was sunny.

The cat is pestering me for her evening treat – a little tube of fishy flavoured mousse. I’d better go and get her one – patience is not her strong point.

    Take care all.

    Day 15 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.7 kg

@merryapple – I’m joining you for ‘Back to Basics Fly-In-July Part 2’! Had a fairly easy FD , but I need to get a grip on the NFDs.
A sad loss again for England in the Euro Cup Final, but the best team won. Spain must be a very proud country today, with Carlos Alcaraz thrashing Djokovic at Wimbledon (again) too 🇪🇸

These new weight loss drugs really have some awful side-effects?! And they seem to be way too accessible for people who don’t actually need them. We really are fortunate to have found 5:2/IF

It’s a chilly & breezy 16 C here, but the sun’s shining & I’m off out for a good walk before my well-deserved brunch later.

Sending RESOLVE to the Monday fasters! 💪🎯

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Good morning and thank you Cinque, Neil and Calidreaming for connecting 🙂

Im on a FD today. Its either Monday/ Wed or Tues/ Thurs depending on if I am having my Dad over for dinner on a Tueday. My mom has her Rotary Club dinner meetings every 2nd week and so Dad comes for dinner to save him cooking for 1.

Trying tofu scramble for breakfast with mushrooms and tomato. I like to do a 200 breakie and 300 dinner. Not sure how everone else does their FD. So far this is working best , but this is only day 5 LOL.

@neil – how was the Aus rugby this weekend – sadly we lost to Ireland 🙁 Very close game though.

I wish everyone a super week. Stay strong and positive x

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 15, Germany, NFD

We had a bit of rain yesterday, the rugs are dry and clean again, the carpet is still quite wet. No rain today so it should dry off further. We had a good workout this weekend and a very clean basement now.

@merryapple The older BMW convertibles are beautiful, I don’t like the newer ones, they all look the same. It must have been a sight, a convertible with a grandfather clock! I’m sure you looked pretty in the dress, didn’t you find it so much more comfortable than trousers?

@excelsior12309 Your husband seems to be a real collector, we never even sat in a Ferrari! One of the pediatricians in the hospital I worked at long ago had an Austen-Healey. It was a lovely car but he husband often had to come over because the car had problems. It was very amusing as we all had old cars also having a lot of problems, but they were cheap ones.

    Have a nice day everyone!

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 15 NZ FD

It’s Monday morning. I’m on the reset. No scales. Just back to the basic 5:2 and focusing on what food and drink passes my lips!!
Does anyone want to join me?!!

Sorry England🥲 but Spain rules today!!
@funshipfreddie I saw on your Daily Mail link Princess C presenting the the Wimbledon prize to Alcaraz so your wish has indeed come true!!
The other report I read was on the slim journalist who gave herself a disastrous one off weight loss injection so she could get back into her pre pregnancy jeans. She wrote about her nausea, depression (equivalent to the post natal depression she had experienced) and inability to eat… There was no joy in fitting into her jeans cause it reminded her of her stupidity. She still can’t eat nutritional food but hopes to in the future… She was a fit and healthy person and now she’s trying to recover…
A prof commented that a “feeling of flatness is not surprising because these drugs suppress the pleasure centre (in the brain) that goes with food.” This is why they are useful for addictive behaviours because the pleasure hit is dulled… In normal people the healthy receptors are barraged by the drugs, taking all the pleasure out of their lives…
    Awful awful awful.
Diabetics are the people who need these drugs which are properly prescribed…

Thank goodness for Dr M and 5:2!!
    And this website!!

@northgeorgia It’s lovely the way you take care of your mother.
    @funshipfreddie I agree. It’s appalling about the assassination attempt…

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Not finding it easy to watch the football🥺
Had a lovely day yesterday with Xena, stayed dry for our beach walk & breakfast at the cafe, we went to a village show & car boot near us, got some plants & a few bargain toys for great-nephew. Got the plants in, washed the toys & popped them round to sis. I did some scent work with Xena in the garden which she loves, then hubby took her to the park where she had a play with one of her boyfriends! She was shattered in the evening! Not done so much today, Church & have done pulled pork as youngest came for dinner. He had to go home to be on call so will watch the football at home…
Re syringing ears, the ‘hoover’ thing some places use now just isn’t strong enough suction to clear ears out, that’s why alot of places use water still…our GP practice don’t do it anymore so have to pay, a nurse has set up a clinic nearby & charges half the price of the private one who tout for business at our GPs!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening All..,
    Everyone ready for the footy?

A couple of dry walks. I then decided to do some scrambled eggs to freeze to try out for when Charlie goes into kennels. I have cooked veggies and frozen they worked out very well. So quite sorted for him.
( it’s for next year just getting organised)

    Day 14 – USA/GA – NFD?

Weigh-in: 234 lbs. My brother is trying to replace my mom’s water heater. Took all day yesterday and still wasn’t done…still leaking. He’s going to try some new glue and fittings today and hopefully get it taken care of. My mom wants to visit her brother today, but I hope she hasn’t made herself ill psychologically dealing with everything yesterday. Anyway, for this and other reasons, I’m probably moving my FD to tomorrow.

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 14 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

    Today’s FD half-over, all down-hill now; & I’ve already clocked up almost 10,000 steps 💪
Shocking news re the attempted Trump assassination?! 😳

@merryapple – I’m guessing that’s a very early Monday Pocket List? Can you believe that? SA 25 – IRE 24?! Should’ve called it a draw 😢 The only thing that’ll put me in a good mood is if Alcaraz beats Djokovic at Wimbledon 😀 Oh, & if England beat Spain later, of course 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿️⚽️ but I think I’ll be asleep by then 💤 Oh, & my clean laundry doesn’t put itself away, y’know! 🤪

@jaifaim, @snowflake, @merryapple – interesting re HR & fast days. My resting HR is closer to 50 on FDs, but closer to 60 on other days.

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 14-No. VA USA-FD
Weight stagnated due to eating tortilla chips and yogurt dip yesterday, in mass quantities. Honestly, poor decisions…Our upstairs air conditioner is out, so we had to sleep downstairs. Once the temperature got about 89 degrees upstairs, it was time to call the AC company and they are coming today. So we are having a@northgeorgia moment!!! In the South, we are definitely captives of the heat and humidity.
I am envying you folks in the Southern Hemisphere!

My husband has accumulated several classic cars, and they have a garage of their own. His sentimental favorite is a 1983 red Ferrari, which is the same model as the famous Tom Selleck car from Magnum, PI in the 80’s. I didn’t like to ride in it because people would follow us down the road or the highway to stare at it. I felt too conspicuous!! He used to have a light blue 1962 Austen-Healey, which was fun to ride in, like a little toy car (I always thought of the character “Stuart Little” from the children’s book). That one was sold to someone in Paris several years ago… We are definitely NOT riding in convertibles in heat like this, though!

    Down we go, everyone!
