Morning!
Was just about to post last night but got called round to our neighbour, she’d had another fall but luckily okay this time … Did fine with keto yesterday, had a HomeStart meeting with loads of yummy cookies on offer, I resisted ๐ Neck is playing up again so not much else done, cleaning is not going to help it!
Dave- well done with the bowling, how do you chose which team to play for? Or could you play for both matches with different people?!
Jean- nice to see Jacqui, I expect the holidays have gone quickly for her?!
Hemmy- hope you had a nice lunch out…
Hope everyone else is doing okay ๐ฅฐ
Day 21 – South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ – NFD
My RESOLVE is really being tested this week. There were even more people at the mosaic class yesterday. There’s a group of 5 friends who only go every other week, so there were + 20 of us. And virtually everyone brought food?! Sausage rolls, quiches, mini pies, cakes, you name it. And of course I was asked a few times, ‘aren’t you going to eat something?’. One of them said, ‘we can’t help it, when we see a man we want to feed him’ ๐ Anyway, my coaster set is complete. I’m so proud, it’s like I passed my driving test all over again ๐
@merryapple – down a kilo overnight?! ๐ฏ forgot to answer your question re Scrabble. Yes, it’s online (Words with Friends) I always have 6 or 7 games on the go, including one with @songbirdme
@molij – I love Black Forest too. I’d been eyeballing the delicious-looking cheese & bacon croissants while I was ordering my coffee though, so if I could resist those I think I can resist anything. I love the quote!
Must dash ๐บ๐ Happy Hump Day! ๐ซ
Day 21 NZ NFD 70.4kg๐
I was hoping๐ซฐthat if I just worked on my basic regime of porridge or muesli for breakfast, soup and sourdough at lunchtime and protein and veg at night with grapefruit, oranges (off my trees) and apples in-between for several days that I would make a U-turn… And it worked!! I was presuming that as I got closer to my goal it would be more difficult to lose weight but really it’s being consistent about what you eat. Or don’t eat. The 5:2 to me is more about about the weekly total intake rather than the day to day so it’s possible to have an expensive weekend as long as you remember to follow up with modest intakes for the next few days… ๐ง And KEEP POSTING!!!
@jaifaim Sometimes you just need some down tools time to catch up with yourself… I’d say if you can stay in bed when you don’t want to get up, just do it!!! You’re super fit and maintaining but this doesn’t mean you don’t need a little extra rest and/or sleep from time to time๐
@stitchincarol Oh dear…

I think the most common cause of acute pain in the very elderly is gas and constipation… It’s so difficult when they can’t tell you what’s happening…
And now this has resolved, you can have the full attention of your DH and continue to celebrate his 70th. He deserves more than just one day!!!
@snowflake56 I notice on the sheet you have come down more than a kg now you’re in maintenance๐!!! Well done!!! Keep up those good maintenance habits!! I’m watching a wee Silvereye bird perched on the pith edge of an hollowed out grapefruit. It’s dipping it’s head in and out eating the sweet fruit!!
@flourbaby Your darling mother would be so proud and happy that you are in your own home now. I’d recommend buying her favourite flowers for your new home and display in a prominent position. Everytime you go past them you will smile and remember good times๐๐ธ๐ท
@northgeorgia Ditch those UPF extras and focus on good food like an ๐๐๐for a snack!!!Your mantra is 120s, 120s, 120s!!!๐ช

@molij Wales sounds so beautiful…So nice to have your sister reasonably close so you can drive across it!! You can’t have the green green grass of home without rain… it is still wintery here but the sun is definitely warmer. We have fronts with wet grey clouds rolling through followed by patches of sunshine. There are so many rainbows in the sky๐๐ฆ๏ธ Four seasons in one day…
Won’t you be sewing your dress for the wedding?!!
How are you going @at, @lilymartin, @bert1802 and @ccco??? And @fatrabbit and @leoniraats, we haven’t forgotten you!!! I know @metatauta and @excelsior12309 will clock in soon!!!
CONSISTENCY and CONTROL!!!
๐11 days to go to September!!
Hi,
I am still breastfeeding my 2.5 year old but my body is really getting me down. I used to do this diet years ago and am thinking of trying it again. I think generally the advice though is not to fast when breastfeeding but I wondered if anyone here is?
Morning again. Olive oil here is reasonably expensive. It’s around $10 for a 500ml bottle. But since I only use a tablespoon or two at a time on my lunch, 500ml lasts me a long time.
Meat is reasonable. We get venison mince for $17 per kilo, lamb for the same or cheaper, chicken is cheap, pork is about the same as lamb, beef is a bit more expensive, but the most expensive is fish, which is usually over $30 per kilo. When I have meat I usually only have around 100-150g as a serving, so it’s only $2-$3 per meal.
I forgot to say when talking about keto that I rarely eat meat which is highly unusual for a keto diet plan. Mainly because I will only eat organic grass fed meat and secondly meat is so expensive I simply canโt afford it. Iโll occasionally buy organic grass fed mince to make burgers or chilli mince and occasionally buy organic chicken but Miss GDay doesnโt really like meat so itโs no big deal that we donโt eat much of it.
Suzy while exercise is great for overall health and wellbeing and vigorous exercise will help to increase metabolism, weight loss and weight gain is 100% what you eat.
Neil there are so many versions of the keto diet these days. Mine includes dairy ( but I only have grass fed organic) and my carbs are veggie carbs only. When I reach goal weight I will occasionally have chickpeas as I really love them, especially slow dried with spices. Speaking of chickpeas…….
It was my birthday yesterday so we went out to my favourite Indian restaurant, or I should say itโs the only โrestaurantโ in the region where I live, everywhere else to eat is pubs which all have the same deep fried rubbish on their menus. I havenโt been back to the restaurant since Mr GDay passed as we dined there regularly and it felt strange to go without him. As it was my birthday I had a night off keto. The meal and service was impeccable as always – oysters kilpatrick, Chanda masala (a chickpea dish), jasmine rice, naan bread and mango and pistachio kulfi for dessert washed down with 2 non alcoholic stubbies of beer. It was so good but boy was I full to the brim, definitely over ate.
Iโm lucky where I live there is an olive orchard business about 30km away who press and sell their own olive olive. I buy 2 litre metal drums for $26. I always keep 3 drums as I use a lot. As they deliver to the region weekly when I need more I just contact them and on the day they are passing through leave the drums on my front verandah (in the shade) and they come past and refill them. So no empty containers going into landfill and itโs cheaper because of the refill. Plus the olive oil is really delicious.
I have 6 olive trees in my spare block and fingers crossed this season they should start producing olives. In past years I scored free olives from people who have the trees but canโt be bothered using the fruit. Itโs not that difficult to preserve olives, just takes a bit of time. Again,I eat a lot of olives so always have 20-30 very large preserving jars in the pantry.
Must dash, the next load of washing is ready to hang up
Morning all, weigh-in today down another 600g. That makes 4 weeks of losses in a row, so I’m pleased with that.
Yes it has been extra cold here the last few days, which is typical when I decide to take a holiday. I went for a big walk yesterday because it was too windy to go riding or play frisbee golf, and I managed to get a snap of some icicles coming off one of the banks
The weather is looking better today so hopefully I’ll be able to get some gardening done, or get out for a ride.
Have a good one everyone.
Day 17 North Wales ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ FD
Drove back from my sisters today through mid Wales and parts of North Wales. Wales is such a beautiful country and am so lucky to live here. I have two weeks before my appointment at the hospital. I need to keep busy, busy, busy. I am going to spend the next few days sewing I think.
@stitchincarol. Well done on your weight loss. Loved the video you posted. So glad your husband is better. So sorry to hear your mother in law was not well. I do hope they find out what is wrong with her. Such a worry.
@merryapple it sounds very cold in NZ at the moment. I hope the weather warms up for you soon.
@funshipfreddie well done for refusing the cake. Black Forest gateau is my favourite cake. I would have struggled to refuse it.
@snowflake56 Shame you couldnโt pick all the Mirabelles. Have you decided what you are going to make with the ones you have picked?
@jaifaim the weather hasnโt been good in the UK recently has it? It seems to have rained for most of the summer. Safe journey home in Thursday.
@ brightonbelle I might have to set a revised goal for August too. This month so far has not been a good one and I have found it difficult to stay on track. Next month will not be much better as I am away again for the first two weeks of the month.
@flourbaby hope your FD was successful today. Such an exciting time for you moving into your new home. Sending you hugs for your Mums first anniversary. It will be a sad but happy day for you ๐ค.
@lilymartin welcome back.

A lovely day but very windy.

Only another week and she will be back at school.
Dave..
Well done on your part of winning.. season soon seems to be overโฆ

Iโve been doing 5-2 for 2 weeks, Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday I feel very tired and not wanting to do anything. Do you think that itโs connected to going to the gym on Monday when I do my fast day or am I eating the wrong foods?
Day 20 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD
DH and his 3 siblings ended up making the decision to send their mom to the ER by ambulance yesterday morning where she underwent a ton of tests. All were negative. She had looked near death in the morning and was in severe pain, but within an hour of getting back to her facility mid-afternoon, she was her normal self and had no memory of having been at the ER. In the meantime, we’d met with a hospice person. We’re absolutely stumped as to what to do. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ When DH and I finally got home at suppertime, I compensated for the frustration and uncertainty with more food than I should have. Today will be a chance to compensate for those bad choices.
@jaifaim Do I remember correctly that you’re staying with your mom? I would think that would be a large part of why you’re so tired–there are a LOT of emotions swirling around you at the moment. Hugs to you.
@flourbaby Oh, wow. I’m exhausted just reading what all you’re busy doing! I can well believe today willl be a totally successful FD and am so glad you’re getting close to the fun part of moving!
@northgeorgia Good luck with no obligations interfering with your FD and congratulations on another nice 230!
@merryapple I thought of you yesterday as we were driving to be with DH’s mom, and it went like this: Okay, it’s 8:40 am. That means is 2:40 in the afternoon in London. that means it’s 1:40 in the morning for @merryapple. Yup, she’s asleep. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ I’ve finally learned how to know your time, so thanks for helping with that. And bummer on the higher weight after a FD…it simply doesn’t seem fair, huh? But who knows what all is behind it, and you’ll have a lovely drop soon, I’m sure.
Have a grand one, everyone.
โDonโt give up what you want most for what you want now.โ
And here I am, I won at bowls but the team lost by just a few points. Only 2 games left on a Monday bowling.Unless we progress in the cup. On Friday two teams I play for play each other. So I get called Judas by one of them๐๐.

Day 20 – USA/GA – FD??
Weigh-in: 230 lbs. I will plan on another FD500 today, but I still anticipate a 20% chance of lunch invitations LOL! Anyway, I expect I’ll have a successful day, but if not, I can likely put in a FD tomorrow or Thursday.
Congrats on the 162, @stitchincarol
Hi Sarah,
How are you getting on? (my first post). I started on the 5:2 at a similar time and keen to make pals at a similar stage to me.
Me so far…. Im a yoyo dieter, I never stick to anything. I have an under active thyroid and a sedentary job but I do walk my dogs and play hockey so im not a complete sloth.
The most weight i have ever lost was on the fast 800 but found it too brutal to stick to long term (i also piled everything back on once i stopped it). I’m on week 5 of the 5:2 but had a holiday in the middle and put everything back on that i have lost(3.5lb)!
Back onto 5:2 this week. determined to lose what i’ve gained.
Hello everyone.
Interstate relatives have been in Adelaide visiting, so it’s been a busy and social time. With too many meals out and belated birthday celebrations. The impact on the scales has been awful. I’m up 3kg over the 10 days there were here. It’s quite frustrating and the wet weather that curtailed my usual walking hasn’t helped. I’m doing 30-40k steps less per week at the moment than I normally manage and have even resorted to walking and stair climbing in a raincoat. While some will be water weight, there is definitely a body fat gain to be dealt with.
Thin, congratulations on the anniversary, that decade has gone fast.
Glad to hear about the motor cycle rally to raise funds. I didn’t even know Dave Myers had died.
SuzyQ, weight loss is more dependent on what you eat than on exercise. I did exercise while losing weight. Back then it was mostly hydrotherapy exercises at a local pool as I needed a knee replacement.
I have continued to exercise and I focus on what I enjoy as that’s easier to sustain. Mostly I walk and I’m lucky that I live somewhere that it’s generally safe for a woman to walk in daylight hours. I also have an exercise program that my physio designed that I do at home 1-2 times each week. Recently I also added stair climbing – using stairs either at my local railway station or the shopping centre.
Cali, I second Cinque’s comments. Your situation is heartbreaking and you are doing such a good job in a situation you can’t control.
My typing has just been interrupted by a cat trying to walk across the keyboard.
Suzy & Cali, As to prices, olive oil, and groceries generally, have increased noticeably here – at a greater rate than overall inflation. Our published figures for 2021-2023 was 16.4% increase where I live and it’s continued to rise in the subsequent year.
Neil, wow snow. The level of chill has eased a bit here, so it was a shock to read that you are getting snow.
GDSA, it’s good to see you in a better place, both physically and emotionally now.
Cinque, your comment about patience is useful reminder. I have not been stopping soon enough.
One of the recent celebratory meals was at Noi Vietnamese restaurant. We had a banquet where there’s no set menu. You tell the staff your general likes and dislikes and they bring out entrees, main courses, veggie dishes and desserts that they think you’ll like. It was so much food and I ate too much. One unusual dish was deep fried brussel sprouts with chilli. It was very nice, but who would have thought of doing that to a brussel sprout.
Ok the cat’s back again, I think she’s feeling neglected. I think she’s hoping for more treats. I’m afraid the kitchen is closed for both of us tonight.
Take care everyone.
I have wrinkles, and everyone recommends that I use fillers. However, I know they are very pricey, and I’m afraid they could cause something bad to happen to me. I don’t want to look like those ladies. I hope you understand.
you should go to doctor
Day 20, London, UK, FD
It WILL be a successful FD as I haven’t got time to mess it up!!๐คฃ
Busy at work, busier packing, even busier cleaning (can’t deal with grubby, so I’m bleaching the house to within an inch of it’s life!!!๐ฒ๐)
I’m planning to FULLY be installed in the house by 1/9/24, which will be my mums 1 year anniversary๐ฅ๐and also my 3 year anniversary for selling my flat to move in with my mum๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ.

Hi everyone! Feeling like Iโm keeping steady weight wise – will see on Friday as Iโm staying a little longer where I am. Will get back home on Thursday. I am feeling generally tired and have to force myself to get out and about in the morning at the moment โฆ felt like I might have had a lurgy recently but no temperature etc and am testing and no bad news so maybe just the effects of our bad weather for way too long โฆ.
@funshipfreddie I am so impressed with your ability to send back a free cake. โญ๏ธ I suppose it is all about mindset which you have firmly in place right now. If someone delivered a free yum cake to me I would have to return it if it had gluten but otherwise would find it REALLY hard to refuse itโฆ so I suppose I need to adopt the same attitude to all things that just donโt suit me. Thanks for helping me see that!
@merryapple – letโs get serious!! โฆ (the tune to โletโs get physicalโ popped into my head as I wrote thatโฆ shur why notโฆ letโs get serious and physical ๐คธ๐ปโโ๏ธโน๏ธ๐๐ผ๐โโ๏ธ๐๏ธ๐

@stitchincarol fabulous news on the drop โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ I canโt play the video but Iโm so happy that your DH had a lovely birthday! Iโm sorry to hear that his mum has deteriorated but hope you can all work out what care should be provided next.

Suzy, when I was originally doing the 5:2 plan I didnโt do any formal exercise but I did do more walking than I do now. But there were other times, after I lost the weight that I did a lot of walking because I bought a Fitbit. On days when it was too hot in the summer of too smokey because of fires, I walked in the house. Our downstairs has an open floorplan and I can get in a lot of steps just by circling through the rooms and hall. Often when the weather was good I would walk back and forth across our paved back patio. Itโs about 30 steps each way. I listened to music which made the time go quickly. OH used to walk or run around the neighborhood, about 8km every other day. But he has longer legs than I do and walked too fast for me to keep up with him. This was before the dementia.
Olive oil is very expensive here too. Like everything else it has gone way up. I bought it from Walmart by mail, but Amazon had it too. It was $15 for $32 ounces which seemed reasonable compared to most of the brands in the grocery stores. All groceries have gone way up in price, somewhere around 20% or more. Is that the same in SA? The high grocery prices are blamed on the politicians here, but from what everyone in Aus, NZ and UK is saying itโs the same where they are. I think a lot has to do with transportation costs, fuel, etc. What percentage increase is everyone else here seeing?
Neil, you seem to be getting a lot of snow this week. Weโve had a great break with beautiful weather the past couple weeks. It feels like mid September, or October and early November. This has been a weird year for weather.
Thin, are you docked in one place now for a while or still moving around? You seem to have acclimated to the small space of boat living. I thought it would drive you crazy after a few months. But I guess seeing new places all the time makes up for the tight living spaces.
Cinque, I think I am going to follow your plan that you had back some time ago of just picking 3 or 5 things to do or rearrange every day. I feel like Iโm walking through molasses most days, other than for food shopping or meal preparation. Or doing things for OH. I have piles of laundry to fold and put away and I really need to go through the pantry and get that organized. Doing it all at once seems overwhelming. But doing just a small amount each day would work I think.
Still in the 66โs but creeping up a bit on some days instead of going down. Today was a FD so Iโm hoping for a loss on the scales in the morning. Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, like last time seems to work well.
Hope you all are having a good week.
Good morning, it’s easy to early for me to be up. But we have a cup game of bowls and it’s near the airport which is about 11 miles away. Starts at 10-30 am๐คฏ๐คช. So Chloe will get an early walk today. I’ll be back as Arnie used to say.

Day 19 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
Drum roll, everyone! First, I haven’t said, but my weight has been fluctuating between 163-something and 164-something for the last two weeks. So, remember I’ve been saying I’ve been eating very decently? Well on Saturday (right before I drove to an all-day retreat, which is why I didn’t have time to post that morning), I was astonished to be down to 162.4–I had eaten very minimally on Friday and ignored Every. Single. Snack. on Friday evening at the beginning of the retreat. ๐๐๐๐ After eating more generously than I intended on Saturday (but still quite decent in my choices), I was up to 164.4 on Sunday. But this morning, after eating minimally yesterday (of all days, since that’s when we celebrated DH’s birthday), I am again 162.4. So that means I’ve lost actual pounds, not just water weigh like I do on a WFD! I’m totally chuffed!
And DH feels quite decent and yesterday went PERFECTLY. In fact, here, see for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/stmatthewchurchcedarbluffs/videos/468277402689455 Go to 1:15:15 or so, and that’s when he finds out. And that’s me that hollers “Pastor Staub.” The congregation was so very, very pleased that the surprise was indeed a surprise, and so was my husband and it was simply fun, fun, fun. After the potluck at church we hung out for a bit at home, then went down to Lincoln with our two sons, and drank a bit, ate a bit, played pinochle a bit, then came home. Totally fun day that my husband enjoyed tremendously well.
So, WHEW, we got through it with decent health, and now we get to move on to regular life again. ๐
@lilymartin Welcome back, but I’m so sorry you’ve been in the hospital; I hope whatever it was is now dealt with and gone. โค๏ธ
@merryapple Happy Anniversary to you, and I’m saying WHEW! right along with you that were were able to pass the breathalizer test.
@funshipfreddie Wow, to be given free cake AND to return free cake? Amazing and impressive! And new phones are indeed overwhelming and intimidating, but once you’ve got everything sorted, they’re so amazing; enjoy!
@northgeorgia We’ll celebrate with you on Saturday!
DH’s mom was supposed to be moved to a memory care facility today (from her assisted living facility), but the staff was unable to wake her up yesterday morning, so now the move is on hold, very possibly permanently, and there’s even talk of hospice. We’re still driving over there (it’s about 50 minutes away) for the big family pow-wow of what to do, and to see her.
At some point, life will return to boring; I’m looking forward to it!
Have a grand one, everyone!

Fast Day for me. Hopped on the scales this morning to check that the weekend hadn’t inflicted too much damage – it did not, yay.
Got a reasonably busy day today, plenty to keep me distracted til tea time when I’ll enjoy some homemade veggie chilli and a modest portion of brown rice!
Good luck everyone fasting today and to those on an off day – enjoy!!
Hi Suzy, exercise was never my issue. Even at my heaviest I was still playing tennis and badminton a few times a week. Once I got my weight down I started up biking again, and that has been my passion since. I usually get through at least 4,000kms per year. But exercise isn’t nearly as important as getting your eating right.
If you really want to get into exercise, my suggestion is to try a whole lot of different things until you find something you enjoy doing. You could plan to go running every day, but if you don’t enjoy running and are just doing it to drop weight, you’ll never stick to it.
Day 19 UK FD
Itโs Monday – itโs FD ๐ช. I really need to take a leaf out of your book @funshipfreddie – refusing free cake !! but I guess thatโs why youโre in maintenance and Iโm not
You sound to have had a rough time @lilymartin – welcome back
Realistic revised goal for August – to finish lower weight than started and then Iโm gearing up for September no trips so I can put all effort into achieving an actual loss rather than the yo-yoing of recent months

Good luck with the Keto, don’t think I could do it myself.I think Denise as gone to get weighed so will see how she’s done soon. I’ll get weighed on Wednesday. The only trouble with holiday is I gain a stone every time I go, but can’t be dieting on holiday.Bowling Mon,Tue, Thursday and Friday this week. I found a great app for airport it tells you everything but it costยฃ30+ per year so forget that I only go once this year.
Good morning all ๐ Its a loveley new week. I hope you are all well and had a good weekend?
Discovered a great bean receipe by Buddy oliver that I made and portioned out for work brunch. It has a bit of a mexican flavour vibe about it and can pair well with some avo and cottage cheese. I also have it on a slice of toast if i feel I need a carb. Very low in calories. Pinterest has also been a wonder for new low cal recipes and now I am keen to check out the hairy bikers after all the comments about them.
Olive oil is sooooooo expensive here in SA . What is it like for you guys ? I have had to revert to canola for cooking as I want to cry if my hubby uses it to cook with.
I admire those that can do Keto , but I am a bit of a carbohydrate-aholic ๐ I love pasta , fresh bread rolls , pizza and dare I say it…. POTATOES LOL. I am trying to be more selective about my carb choices though.
Can I ask how many of you do exercise with this or did exercise while getting to your goal weight ? Did it help ? I want to start walking , but in SA its important to walk in safe areas and there isnt really a good place close to my home or work. We have park run / walk but its only once a week and I would like to do this about 3 x a week. A good free exercise ap may also be an option.
Big hugs to all of you going through difficult times. Its great that there are platforms like this where you can get support from across the globe. Technology is great in this respect.
have a super week all x
Day 19 โ South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ โ NFD 70.4 kg
What glorious weather we had yesterday! I did a lot of walking by the sea, could’ve stayed out there all day. My FD was a breeze. I stopped at a local cafรฉ early afternoon for a coffee. I was sat at a table, catching up on my Scrabble games, when a waitress suddenly placed a large slice of Black Forest gateau in front of me. I told her I hadn’t ordered anything, but she said, “it’s on the house” ๐ณ Just my luck to be offered free gateau on a FD ๐ So I told her I appreciated the offer, but I couldn’t eat it. She probably thought, ‘ungrateful wretch’, but she just smiled & removed it. Phew!
@lilymartin – welcome back! So sorry to hear you’ve been ill, & having to quit work?! But it might be the best thing for your health to retire earlier than expected, especially if you work shifts ๐ค
@merryapple – No losses – but no gains either. I just know you’re going to dip below 70 this month ๐ฏ Boo Boo would enjoy the birds, but not the bath! ๐ I’m definitely going to spruce up my patio area with some mosaics, but tastefully, so as not to incur the wrath of the trustees ๐ No, my monthly phone charge is virtually unchanged. I can’t believe how they manage to keep improving these gadgets?! The new one has 4 times the storage space of my old one, + double the memory.

We are back in the grip of winter with gale force freezing winds, snow in the high country, flooding and multiple chilly rainy fronts blowing through๐ฅถ But I did get a walk in first thing!!
My erratic behaviour is showing up with the result of no losses… Time to get serious for the rest of the month!! I went shopping this morning and the fridge is full of fresh fruit, vegetables and lean protein so now I have no excuses…
@lilymartin I’m so pleased to see you!! And hope you are now well recovered… I recall you driving long distances for your work as well as having farming duties… Welcome back!!
@jaifaim Thank you…I try. A life well lived is always a cause for celebration with daffodils!! I do wonder how our Daffodil friend is getting on too as well as @penz.
@metatauta You must be getting close to your maintenance destination!!
@brightonbelle Luckily I ate fish and chips with one beer and one glass of Rosรฉ… I was breathalysed 5 mins from home and passed counting from 1-10 into the device… Whew!! And it meant I bounced out of bed and went for my Sunday bike ride too!!
Didn’t Asterix and Obelix and Dogmatix come from Galicia or maybe they just visited!!!
@northgeorgia What goes up must come down!!
@excelsior12309 Thorns are a step up from prickles๐ฌAnd you have hornets!! But if you manage to plant 200 plus bulbs every year Spring must be wonderful in your garden!!
@funshipfreddie I agree with @snowflake56. Decorating the outside of your house would be so much fun starting with the white gate!!! Or a birdbath which Boo Boo would enjoy!!
A free phone upgrade?? Wow!! They must be charging you extra on something else?!
@molij As long as the food is nutritious and eaten at mealtimes you’ll be fine!! It’s the EXTRA cheeses, chips and dips that do us in!!!
@stitchincarol Thank you for the link to the NYT’s Plum Torte. I have taken a copy. What an amazing history that accompanies it!!! I’m not sure my abundence of grapefruits will work but it’s the apple season here sp I’ll try that!!
I hope your DH is able to enjoy his 70th and all the well deserved attention that I’m sure he is attracting!!!
@flourbaby must be in the depths of either cleaning or moving??!!
All in all I hope everyone is on good form, has had a good weekend and is gearing up for the last 12 days of immaculate 5:2 behaviour!!

Line-dance class at 10:00 am and then I’ll go in the garden to do more weeding. Last Saturday I had a very playful jumping mouse near me all the time, it lives on the slope from the terrace to the garden. When I’m weeding that area it jumps out of it’s hole.
Only picked ~3 kg mirabelles yesterday, there are still so many left on the tree but we can’t reach them.
@lilymartin Welcome back! I’m sorry to hear you had such a rough time, I hope you are better now.
@excelsior12309 I’ll be happy to come over to you and do a bit of weeding! We have the same problem with bulbs, we buy them but never like to plant them.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Another quick post from meโฆ
Things are up and down here but all is well. ๐ Working away from the office and my home office is challenging but grateful to have the ability to do so.
@lilymartin I am so happy to see your post above but so sad to see you have been so unwell. It sounds like you really have been through the mill. Thinking of you ๐๐

Day 19 country west Australia FD 84.0 kgs.
Back after a long stint away, time in hospital, having to give up work and life happening in general.
Hello everyone,
Cali, my heart breaks for you. How can you not fight against fate when someone you love and care for so much is being pulled from you. Such a time for so many powerful and conflicting feelings.
But I am so glad Mr Cali has your love and care.
That olive oil sounds so delicious! What a treat.
Hooray for better weather. Spring seems to have started here. Too early, but it is easy living.
Thin, Hooray for those Hairy Biker recipes and the lovely legacy Dave Myers has left. I am watching ‘Hairy Bikers Go West, now.
Hello to DD!
Neil, it takes so much trial and error to get new strategies settled. And ooh that cold weather doesn’t help. But yay that it was just one bad day. Best wishes for this week.
Things are going pretty well here. My feeling of being satisfied after a small meal does kick in if I can just be patient. But my waist is up an inch (I’m blaming cold weather too) so I need a 5:2 week.
Sending good wishes to everyone
Morning all. I had a bad Friday and ate far too much. I went over my daily calories by around 1000 calories. I’ve been struggling with doing a full fast in this cold weather (it’s snowing again today for the first day of my holiday) so instead I did two semi-fasts. I ate around 600 calories under my daily amount on both Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully that will be enough to offset the Friday eating.
Thin, hopefully you have a good time with your DD, how’s the weather over there at the moment? If we’ve had a run of cold weather, it must be warming up on the other side of the globe.
Cali, I can only echo what Thin has said, I really hope that you managed to take some time for yourself now and then to unwind. Cottage cheese is good for protein, but not overly high on calories. Have you tried avocado?
They are pretty calorie dense, and easy to mash up so they’re easier to eat.
Cinque, thanks a lot for that info. I have ben upping my protein and fats intake. My standard day now is fruit, greek yoghurt and a handful of nuts for brekkie, some form of protein (meat, haloumi, tinned fish, legumes, eggs, etc) with veggies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds for lunch, then whatever for dinner. It’s been going pretty well so far, except for that one blip on Friday. I think tracking my calories religiously again has been helping, so if I do have a bad day, I know exactly how bad it is and I can try to balance it out.
G’day, well done on your loss over the last 3 weeks. I’m not doing strict keto, because I have found personally in the past, that when I do invariably slip up and eat carbs, the weight piles back on twice as fast as it comes off. So I’m continuing to eat some carbs, but trying to make sure the ones I eat are healthier, like from legumes, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
I hope this snow stops so I can get out for a few rides this week, but if not, lazing around at home sounds good too.
Have a good one everyone

Evening!
Jean- poor Charlie, they do give us some worries, hope he’s ok now, sounds like it’s been a long weekend for you ๐ค
Dave- good you’re all booked & organised for your holiday! Hope Denise is pleased with how much she’s lost this week, sounds like she’s done well!
Hemmy- hope you & Kristy have had a good weekend…
Nana & Steve- hope your weekend has been good too…
We had a lovely evening out with son & gf, all felt quite grown up & made me feel really old! I had a lovely paneer butter masala but some of the others’ food was only mediocre! They were looking after gf’s family’s dog Pixie, she’s blind & nervous of new people, I took lots of treats so she did keep coming to me! Had a late walk with Xena & we met lots of different dogs, Xena was really good with them all. Just a lazy day after that. A FD for me tomorrow & then starting keto.
