  • Hi

I am 43 years old female trying to lose some weight for quite some time (maybe my entire life). A couple of years back using Weight Watcher I lost 30 lbs. I have gained all of that 30 lbs over last three years. Starting this year I tried many things and I was successfully losing and gaining same 5 lbs. Around mid-April, I got a Fitbit and started walking. By early June I lost the same 4-5 lbs and I was stuck again. Someone in the Fitbit forum mentioned huge success this diet, so I decided to give it a try. I started 5:2 Diet on the 9th of June weighing 163 lbs. I was very skeptical about this diet, as I have failed countless time. Never the less I had to try something different. I have now done two weeks and to my greatest surprise, I have actually lost 6 lbs. I am usually very happy to lose a pound a week. To keep the momentum going I have decided to be accountable weekly with my progress in this forum.

I am only 5’2” tall, in order to be in the healthy weight range, I need to be at 137lbs and lose another 20 lbs. My goal is to get there by Christmas. I need to lose a pound a week roughly to get there. I am determined to get there this time.

As for my fitness, I am trying to keep about 10k-15k steps daily by walking, sometimes running. I am also Jillian Micheal fan, I am doing her strength workout from Body Revolution Series.

My initial fast day was very had. It is somewhat getting better. I try to eat around 450-500 Cal on my fast days and between 1500-2000 Cal on non-fasting days.

    Thanks

@sabina consider jumping into https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/june-2017-30-day-challenge/. So far there is a new 30 day challenge every month. There are lots of people there that will encourage you and help with your accountability. Generally people try to post at least once a day and they format is typically

Day xx – somewhere – FD/NFD (Fast day, non-fast day)
    Whatever …

There are lots of conversations going on there and the only problem you’re likely to have is keeping up with it all!

Over the longer term you are more likely to average a 1/2 pound to a pound a week on this diet, maybe a little more if you push it hard. Since you aren’t that big, it will be much harder for you to keep up that weight loss pace. Some of the weight you have lost is just temporary, what is important is losing the fat.

There are lots of ways to lose weigh, however I find that fasting actually improves a lot more than just my weight. I have a lot more energy now too!

    I sincerely wish you success.

    Welcome Sabina, and congratulations!
Great start. You can do it!

I’ve been doing 5;2 for nearly two years, and my tip is to keep it easy and simple, and keep your focus on the longterm benefits, not the short term ups and downs. Have fun joining in the forums! Cheers.

@dykask thanks for your suggestions. I have joined the monthly challenge for July. I will be happy to lose 3-5 lbs a month in the long run.

@cinque wow, two years on this diet. That’s where I want to be one day. I would definitely try to stay positive throughout this journey.

As for my update, last weekend was parties after parties. It was a hard weekend. I ate way too many treats. I am trying hard to do damage control. Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I am nervous.

    Week # 3 update

I have completed 3 weeks on this diet now. I always find it extremely hard to manage eating during summer time, due to all the outings and social events. With 5:2 however, I have manage to lose weight while keeping up with busy summer social events. I am very impressed with this diet so far. I am still nervous about being able to keep up with this long term.None the less one day at a time, I am going to stay at it.

I have a big vacation coming up in 5 weeks,we are planning to go to Vancouver and Canadian Rockies for 10 days. There will be lots of hiking and fun. I would love to be around ~150 lbs by the time I travel.

Sabina, about a little over a pound per week has been my experience. If yours is the same, that would put you at around 150 by your vacation. Whatever weight you get to, you’ll feel lighter than you do right now. Happy fasting!

Thanks @califdreamer,I am definitely looking forward to feeling lighter. I will really try to get to my goal of 150 by the vacation time.

I did 4:3 this week to offset the crazy eating that happened over the last week. I was off work this week, found that fasting is much harder when I am at home. Anyway I am really proud to make it through the week and lost another 1.3 lbs.

In general, after a month on 5:2 I am feeling so much energetic and calm at the same time. As I am getting familiar with this way of eating, I dont feel stressed out over the weekend. I know I can manage it through the weekdays. I can now keep up with so much physical activity without feeling exhausted. I am really glad that I gave 5:2 a try.

Well, I only lost .5 lbs this week. I was so hungry yesterday on my FD. I think I did eat more than 500 cal. I did took 20k step yesterday though.I do feel nervous about plateau, however it is too soon to predict that.

I will try 4:3 again next week.

I have decided to do 4:3, since I tend to go over the allowed limit on weekends. I found that doing 4:3 keeps me relaxed on weekends, if I overeat.

I have also completed the phase#2 or second month of the JMBR program this week. I am also keeping weekly step count between 95-100k. I go for a run on Saturday, do JMBR 4/week and lots of walks.

This weekend I went out for dinner with friends,I got so many compliments on the weight loss. I met one of my ex-colleagues after few years and he said I just simply look amazing and happy. I felt to happy. Even though I am doing this for myself, having your friends and family appreciating the effort really help. Mu clothes are fitting so much better.

I am going to a vacation in 10 days. I am very excited to have fun. However I do feel nervous about how to manage this over the vacation. I have decided to try my best to do what I can during this 10 day vacation. I would be fine to gain 3-4 lbs and get right back to the 4:3, as soon as I am home.

I have a week to go before we leave for our vacation. My goal was to be around 150 by vacation time. I so happy to reach that goal. I am nervous about vacation time. I plan to fast 2 days out for 10 days. I will try to have few controlled day. Overall I am fine with gaining 3-4 lbs during this time. I just have to get back on it right away.

I am leaving today for my 10 day vacation. I will check my weight when get back after 10 days. I am going to enjoy my vacation to the fullest. I plan to walk 10k every day and do 3 mini quick workout over the vacation. Food wise, I will do 2 FD over this time. The day coming back home and one in the middle. Once I get back, I will have 14 weeks to my next vacation to Australia. I would like to lose 16 lbs in that 14 weeks following 4:3.

Okay, I have managed to enjoy my 10 days vacation without gaining much weight. I was totally amazed to find out that I have only gained so little. During my vacation I ate normally without any restrictions. Lots of dining out and treats, of course. Since we were in Vancouver and Canadian Rockies, we did lots of hiking and in general remained active. I had about 15k steps for half of the days and 10k for the rest. I did not manage to add any extra workout. I did fast only one day during my flight back home. I felt so happy, beautiful and strong throughout my vacation.

However, since I got back, I am finding it hard to get back to the routine. Especially this week I was at home with my daughter. I did fast 2 days this week, but non-fast days are not that great. I also found it very challenging to do my Jillian workout. Nonetheless I have pushed myself to do all the workout this week. I tried to keep my daily steps between 10-15k. I hope things will again get into rhythm once I start work next Monday.

My goal weight is 137 lb. I have around 12 lbs to lose to get there. I have 15 weeks to go until my trip to Australia. I am going to lose this 12 lbs in next 15 weeks. I am really determined to finish it strong.

    @sabina – Amazing progress! 19.2 pounds in 10 weeks!!

Wow! I’m just starting now but if I lose half the weight you lost in 10 weeks I’ll be very happy!

Thanks Geopril123 and dykask for the complements. Actually I have lost about 14 lbs in 10 weeks. I have lost the other 5 lbs by just walking, before I started this diet.

Given that I took 10 day vacation in this 10 weeks, I am still very pleased with my results.

I do hope that I will be able to lose another 12 in next 15 weeks. I am feeling quite nervous lately, as I haven’t seen a significant loss since I came back from my vacation a week ago. I just to re-establish my habits again. stating this week I am counting calories every day. Let’s see how that works.

I read quite a few threads on this forum where people stop loosing weight for weeks before stating to loose again. It’s good they shared, now I/we know it is going to happen. And as dykask said in another discussion, a tape measure is a better tool than the scale. And for me – old trousers – I am looking forward to have them fit again πŸ™‚

I am so happy today. I had the biggest loss since starting this diet, 3.5 lb for one week is awesome. Now I have only 8 lbs to lose in 14 more weeks. It seems so doable.

@Geopril123 you are spot on. I did slow down before losing again. As for measurements, I usually do it end of the month. I will post my measurement next week. I used to barely fit in USA size 12 when I started this diet, now I fit into size 8 easily. I can now wear 90% of my clothing. I think my workouts with Jillian, combined with walking is what helping me tone up as well.

    Great news! πŸ™‚
I lost almoat 3 pounds too, I wasn’t expecting such a big loss in the first week.

So officially I have completed three months on this diet. My weight loss has definitely slowed down in the recent weeks, nonetheless, I am pretty close to my goal now. Another 7-8 lbs and I am no longer overweight. Incorporating Jillian Micheal Body Revolution, 10k plus steps and this diet I have lost 4” off my waist, 5” off both my hips and tummy and much more. As for my clothes, I can wear almost all of my clothes from my wardrobe. It feels so good to be able to pick up any clothes I want to wear without worrying at all. Recently my size 8s are also getting loose.

As for exercise I have started a new program called β€œChalean Extreme” this week, it’s mainly heavy weight training. I am also aiming to get 10K plus steps on a daily basis. I do run once a week. I will try to keep up with weekly steps to 90-100k on average.

Even though I am losing at a slower rate, I am comfortable with how I look and feel. I am going to continue 4:3 until the end of the year. I am really looking forward to reaching my goal, even so, important at staying at my goal for years to come.

Definitely my weight loss has slowed down. I am losing 3-4 lbs a month. Given that, I can sustain this rate, I should be able to get to my goal weight 137-136 lbs in dec-1.

I bought small size shirts again last weekend. Before I started my journey my large shirts used to be snug. I really feel good.

As for exercise, I have decided not to pursue heavy weight lifting until I am at my goal weight. Even though I knew I was building muscle, weight loss slowed down a bit on scale. At this point I dont want to feel discouraged and give up.

I have started another 8 weeks circuit training and cardio program call 22 minute Hard Corp workout last week. It should be done Nov-3.

I am also keeping up with my steps count between 70-100k a week. I think I should try to reduce carb at least for two of my non-fast days. Anyway I dont have carb on my fast days. This will give 5 days of less carb.

    Sabina

I think your journey has been amazing!! you have inspired me to start this πŸ™‚

@sabina – Wow! You have done extremely well!

@skyyy, I am so happy that I can inspire someone to do something good. I am sure you will do very well as well. I am no expert, however, please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

@dykask, thanks for your encouragement. I feel very fortunate to come across this way of life. Finally I think I found an eating habit that I can manage long term. I love the fact that I don’t have to limit my choices on my non-fast days. Besides I am really getting the hang on my fast days. I kind of look forward to it now.

This morning I was in 130s after long time. I am so close to my goal, I am really excited. This week for the first time I did back to back fasting, it was not as hard as I thought it would be.

I haven’t been able to do my workout last two weeks. I am having some lower back issues for last couple of weeks. I decided to take a recovery break. I am planning to ease in back to workout this week again. I think I will stop the workout I was doing, as it involves lots if jumping. I will start with a program called 21 day fix next week.

It is exactly 5 months since I started this diet. I can’t explain how accomplished I feel to get here. Last week I was very upset with a sudden gain. Therefore, I decided to change things up a bit.

I completed 21 day fix last week. During this workout period of a month my weight didn’t budge. I was feeling really discouraged last week. This week I decided to start working out with my all time favorite Jillian again, I started 30 day ripped program, I do 5 days/week this 30 min workout. Since the weather here is no longer pleasant to walk outside, I started going to a gym at lunch time to get my steps in by either doing treadmill-walk/elliptical . I am trying to get 90k plus step a week.

As for my fast days, I am still sticking with 4:3, 3 fast days a week. However, my non-fast days were out of control last month. I started logging my food intake again. I am trying to stay between 1700-2000 cal on my non-fast days.

I have 3 more weeks to go for my trip to Australia. I am going to be very diligent for next three weeks.

Finally it feels so good to know I am no longer OVER-WEIGHT.

I am ecstatic about 4:3, it has to be the only one diet that has gotten me to my goal without bumping into million plateaus. I have two more weeks until my vacation. I would stay off the diet during my travel. Once I got back I will have another week vacation after 10 more days. I am anticipating some GAINS(4-5 lbs) during the month of December. I will be happy to be below 140 lbs once my holidays are dealt with.

Starting new year, I can restart the whole process again. I have full confidence in this way of life.

It feels so good not to be overweight after so many years of failed attempts.

Well, this is my 6 moths anniversary. I am amazed by the ease of this diet. I am so thankful for the people who suggested and supported me along this journey. I have officially lost 30 lbs in 6 month following this WOL.

I can definitely see myself following this routine for another 6 months. I did start with goal of being not over weight, which I reached few weeks ago at 137 lb. Now that I am familiar with this lifestyle, I would like to set a new goal for next 6 months. By next year June, I would love to around 127 lbs. This used to be my pre-pregnancy weight 17 years ago.

@fasting_me, thanks for your encouragement. My husband also started 4:3 few weeks back and doing really well. I am so glad to create a positive change in my family. I am really centrain that I can keep up my weight loss this time.

    Week #29 – Happy New Year 2018 πŸ™‚

Finally the holiday season is almost over. I hope I am almost done indulging. However, I did feel great to report the weight gain is not as scary as I anticipated it to be. I was off fasting for more than 2 weeks. Even though my weight showed up as high as 142.2 lbs right after the day we got back from a week of all inclusive vacation. After 3 days and two kind of fast days, on the new years day I came down to a decent 136.6 lbs.

Now this the time to make New Years resolution again. I am so pleased with this WOF that, I plan to continue doing 4:3 until my weight is around 127 lbs. My goal this year is to keep my weight within my healthy BMI range. I would like to keep my weight between 127-137 lbs.

As for my activity goal, winter here in Ottawa is brutal this year so far. I am talking -37 for last two weeks. Waking outside is not going to happen for me. Taking lots of steps has been a challenge. I am going to focus more on Jillian Micheal’s Body Shred workouts and some gym workouts until spring is here. My goal is to try to burn 14,000 cal/week, average of 2000 cal/day.

My short term goal is to get back to 133.6 lbs, my pre-vacation weight by the start of Feb.

    Sabina

Wow Sabina, you are an inspiration for anyone trying the Fast Diet. I started right before the holidays. I had great results the first three weeks of November but then it was our Thanksgiving (US) and then of course the rest of the holiday season.

I’ve started again today. I’m 5’4″ and 149.7 lbs. this morning. I’m going to keep coming back to your posts to look at those results you’ve posted! It will help me to be patient and trust the process.

Congratulations on your fantastic results and on your workouts! And best wishes for your continued success!!

    Kerry

You have done so well! Very inspirational. I only hope my journey reads as well as yours in six months πŸ™‚

    You’re doing great!
I tried 4:3 one week but it was very difficult so I’m staying at 5:2 for now. I didn’t lose any weight since mid September, but considering how much I’m eating/snacking on non fast days I’m happy I’m not putting anything on πŸ™‚

    Hi Sabina
I have just read through your posts and what an achievement! Well done!

I am a very similar age and height so I identified with your post straight away and also the accountability.

My story is that I started the 5:2 diet in January 2014 when I weighed 188 lb (ca 85kg). I managed to lose 52 lb in 18 months using this amazing tool in life.
Unfortunately I had a very specific date/goal and wasn’t very good at maintaining my weight after this point. So over the last 2 years I have put ca 30 lb (14 kg) back on.

The plan is to re-start my weigh loss (and all the health benefits this brings) by going back to the 5:2 but also starting back on the exercise. I know that the key reason I didn’t manage to maintain my weight was that I drastically reduced my exercise. I’ve learned from this.

My flexible goal is to try to loose 25-26 lb (ca 12kg) in time for my 45th birthday on the 2nd of June this year. I hope I can do it.

I am doing my first FD for the year today and will do 2 next week. I am also re-joining my local gym.

Thank you for inspiring me to get back to it. Reading your incredible journey is so positive! Happy New Year!

    Lotta

@kerry, I am so glad that I could inspire anyone. I found it really hard to keep to any plan during the holiday season as well. I think starting next Monday when kids are back to school, it will be easier to follow the plan more precisely. I am so happy that you started back again. I am sure you will be able to get to your goal in times.

@janejust, I am certain that if you keep up with the fasting you would have equally good results. I found that keeping the exercise going really helped me during difficult times.

@ Geopri123, I cant keep my calorie intake within 1700 cal on non-FD, thus, sticking to 4:3 is the only way I lose any weight. I do also get carried away with snacking. Whenever my weight loss slows down, I start tracking my calories for a week or two to get a better idea and adjust from there.

@ Lotta, wow, you still managed to keep a lot of your weight off for 4 years. That is awesome. Definitely, you will lose 25 lbs again by June. I am also turning 45 this September. As I am aging, I find that without exercise I really feel sluggish and sometimes tend to feel sad. It helps me to keep my spirit up. I am so happy to be able to motivate you.

Thank you so much all of you for your encouragement. Please feel to drop by here and keep me posted on your progress. I know 2018 will be an amazing year!

@sabina, Thank you for that encouragement. I had an excellent fast day on Tuesday, NFD Wed. and then today I felt really rough like I’m on the verge of getting sick and I really had to eat. I was not able to exercise this morning and like you, I really need it for my mood and energy levels.

It was frustrating to start so well and then just feel like I needed to go to bed and sleep for the whole day!

I’m hoping that tomorrow I wake up feeling much better and will be able to make up my FD then.

I will weigh again next Wed. hopefully, with 2 more successful fast days under my belt! All I need is a couple of pounds to lift my spirits!

@KerryAnn, I totally get you. I am feeling exactly the same way. I had flu for last two weeks and was feeling really sick this week. I had to break one of my fast days this week too. :-(. Even my other fast days were far from perfect. Then again, I am really happy that I didn’t quit completely. I barely lost any weight this week. We must not be so tough on us. Allow yourself some time to feel better. Soon we will feel 100%, and we will be able to commit 200%. Our stubborn weight has to say goodbye πŸ™‚

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
    Sabina

    Hi Sabina
Thanks for the kind words. I feel much more focused on the task than I have been in a long time. I even did some research on local fitness classes but I think I will be heading back to the gym I used to belong to. It’s expensive but worth it and I know how it works. They even have my favourite class still going – Body Combat. I used to zing with energy after a 45 min session. I hope I can do the same once I’ve signed up again.

I absolutely agree with regarding the aging thing. I have to do much more to lose the same amount of weight than 4 years ago. But I will get there.

I also used to do a modified 4:3 week to kick start myself and that is what I am doing this week.
    Fasting today Monday.
Normal day Tuesday (my daughters 9th birthday so cake will be served πŸ˜‰ )
Fasting Wednesday and Thursday – both busy days work and activity wise…
Weigh back in on Friday to see how I did.

Last week I did one FD and I only lost 1lb but it stayed off during the weekend which is a win for me. I have been yoyo-ing in that after losing during the week I put it back on over the weekend – if I don’t monitor it.

Thank you for the incentive! I feel inspired to do this now and I have a plan πŸ™‚

@kerry Ann – hope you feel better soon. Here in London the colds have been taking turns in making a lot of people ill over the festive season.

    Take care all.
    Lotta x

    Hello Sabina
    How is it going?
I have had a varied week with two successful FastDays and one failed one.
Unfortunately I got the flu on Thursday so have been feeling awful but not at all hungry. Which is a sliver lining I suppose.
I still haven’t joined the gym but I’m better at keeping my alcohol intake to a lower level.

    Change since start: 3lb loss
    Start 75kg -165lb
    Wk 1 – 164lb loss 1lb
    Wk 2 – 162lb loss 2lb

So baby steps for me but I do feel so much better when I fast. I am feeling motivated and just have to get through the illness and not slide back to indulgence afterwards.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Lotta x

@lotta, I am sorry for getting back to you so late. I usually don’t post so often. Don’t worry about making small progress, any progress is is still a progress. However, 3 lbs in 2 weeks is actually pretty awesome. I hope you have recovered from the flu now. Let me know if you have started a gym.

I have only lost 1.5 lbs in last 3 weeks. I have started this new Jillian Micheal Body Shred program. It is the toughest workout I have ever done. I am getting pretty toned from this workouts. Lately people at works are asking me what is my secret.:-)

Anyhow,I am feeling very good at this weight, I totally don’t mind losing at a slower pace now.

    Sabina

    Hi
Just been reading this thread and feel inspired again. Three years ago I lost 28lbs in 4 months on the 5:2 diet, I managed to keep the weight off for 2 years but this last year I have slowly gained back 20lbs. I think the reason is because I got complacent about my eating habits thinking I was a size 10 and as long as I fitted into my size 10 jeans I was fine. I have suddenly realised that I might still be in size 10 jeans but they don’t look as good and they have stretched over time. I caught my reflection in my daughter’s mirror as I was saying goodnight and saw that I have been completely deluded thinking my weight gain was hardly noticeable, I saw the women I was three years ago. I feel like a complete failure. But after reading this thread it has inspired me to go back on the 5:2 diet. Thank you. Fingers crossed I can shift the weight again

    Hi Everyone

Well done Sabina on the workout and keeping going. So lovely to get nice comments. Even if that might not be the primary reason why we lose weight it is so uplifting when other people notice. I’m so impressed that you are still going. I’ve heard of the shred and it sound great but tough.

Hi Mollymoo. Your story sounds very like mine. It’s so easy to get complacent when we get to our goal weight. It sounds like you are ready to get back to the 5:2 again so good luck and let us know how you get on.

I’ve had a good 5:2 week this week doing a 3:4 week for the first time in ages. Like you said in one post Sabina it is much easier to lose weight doing 3 days fasting than 2.
I still haven’t started exercising as I am working flat out and we have another 2 weeks of chaos until our project is slowing down. I have set my goal to get myself back to the gym before February half-term.

    Change since start: 5lb loss
    Start 75kg -165lb
    Wk 1 – 164lb loss 1lb
    Wk 2 – 162lb loss 2lb
    Wk 3 – 160lb loss 2lb

Take care all and good luck with your fasting and exercising.
    Lotta x

    Hello Sabina and Lotta!
Thank you both! I am finally feeling much better. It took a week almost two weeks to feel normal again. I haven’t had any fast days since the last time I posted but am having one today and am doing well, feeling motivated and healthy.

I do want to work my way into 3 days a week but I still haven’t achieved true consistency with 2. That is my goal through the end of March. Once i get there, I’ll add another day.

I got a workout in this morning and planning to walk tonight. Walking in the evening right now is sooooooo hard to make myself do. Even though we gain daylight every day, by the time I go it’s still so dark and cold! But I find that I lose weight so much faster with just 30 minutes of walking every night.

I love the little weight chart you both are keeping. I’m going to do that too! I will probably try and check in at least once a week. More if I can.

@mollymoo ….I totally get what you’re saying about your jean size. I realized that even though I was wearing the same size jeans it was really only because they had stretched out and grown with the size of my butt! LOL. When i needed new jeans because the old ones had worn out, I couldn’t squeeze into a brand new pair of the same size! Sad day that was!

Later tonight, after work, I will do a better introduction of myself, my goals, motivation, and progress, etc.

It’s nice to meet you all.

Best of luck to who ever is on a fast day today! keep up the good work. Just looking at Sabina’s weight loss chart inspires and motivates me!!!

@mollymoo! I meant to add that you are not a failure!! You were disciplined enough to succeed before and you can do it again. I completely understand because I feel the same way but that is just your inner mean girl talking! We can do this πŸ˜€

Hi Kerry Ann, my inner mean girl won today. Tomorrow is going to be my first fast day this week but I was trying really hard today to cut out all the biscuits and left over Christmas sweets. I did really well until late afternoon I then scoffed two hot cross buns and a packet of mini eggs, its like i am out to sabotage myself.

Why do i get like this, this morning I resisted all the snacks. It always seems to be late afternoon and i can’t seem to control myself. I’ve tried drinking lots of water snacking on fruit and veg but this voice just tells me to have what I want. I don’t seem to have the self control that I had three years ago.

On the plus side today i have done 13500 steps so that should help.
I don’t work on a Monday I try to catch up on all the housework and laundry but tomorrow I am working which means sitting down for 5 hours so not many steps tomorrow.

I have never posted on this forum before, three years ago I read other peoples posts but never posted anything.

Sabina I hope you don’t mind if I post my progress on your thread, I find it inspiring and like Kerry Ann said I like your little weight loss chart.

Fast day tomorrow half dreading and half looking forward to it, first one in three years.
Good luck to anyone else who is fasting tomorrow

Mollymoo….the best advice I got from someone else on these message boards was in the beginning just concentrate on your fast days. Get through each fast day by telling yourself that you can have anything and everything that you want tomorrow. And mean it! Don’t worry at first about what or how much you eat on your NFDs. Not at first. Do this for a few weeks and let your body and psyche adjust to the fast days and gradually you will start being able to control your NFDs better. It will probably happen naturally. Once your brain truly realizes that it’s not as hard as it thinks it is right now. Or like Sabina add a third FD.

Maybe your subconscious sabotaged you today because it knew you were going to be fasting tomorrow so it was loading up and getting ready by eating all the things you know you can’t eat tomorrow!!!

it’s been a long time since you’ve done the 5:2 so maybe you just need to start as if you’ve never done it before. Don’t be too hard on yourself! And don’t expect too much. One day at a time.

Of all the advice I got from these threads that advice was the very best for me!!

We have got to do something about these inner means girls too. I have a very powerful, extra mean one. I really have to practice hard at not feeling like a failure and all that other negative self talk. But I’m getting better at it!! When I think about the fact that 1) I gained back the 10 ish pounds that I lost two and a half years ago and in spite of multiple attempts have never lost it again. And 2) I said back in October that I wanted to lose 20 pounds. Actually need to lose 20 lbs. That was 3.5 months ago and I’ve only lost two pounds!!! Aaaargh. I start and stop and start and stop!

Just like getting through Fast Days it takes practice. I have to consciously breathe and center myself a couple of times a day and talk to myself exactly like I would talk to a good friend who needed support. But I also have to remind myself that I have to do the work to get the results.

Oh man, i could just go on and on about that. You gotta love yourself Mollymoo!!! Start from where you are and know that you will make progress with each day. You’ve done this before, you CAN do it again!!!

I sincerely hope I don’t sound preachy or pushy or know it all-y.

I’m still going to come back tonight and do a “start up” post.

And 13500 steps is amazing! I’m definitely going to walk tonight. I don’t get more than 2,000 steps at work.

Speaking of which….I’d better get back to it!
