Morning/evening all,
Slim, your post is one for RT to quote “Good days, bad, but getting better with practice”
Says it all π
Another FD that went walkabout. I am hanging those as yet unworn pink jeans on the door tomorrow.
The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I’m going to WIMBLEDON πΎπΎπΎ
Have a good one everybody, I know I shall ππ
Good morning all from a dreich ( miserable)Scotland . I had for the first time in years a really bad day yesterday . I am so tired and my knees (RA) are so sore ( but well worth it to see my lovely man starting to improve . He was really down and lost quite a bit of weight BUT this morning he seems much more positive . This was all expected though . Yesterday I ate biscuits . I really didn’t like them that much . I just ate for the sake of eating . Today though it will be just so so easy not to eat .
It has been a hard few weeks /months but so worth it to see all the worry gone from his face .
This is one of the brilliant things about 5.2 . Life sometimes gets in the way BUT instead of doing what we used to do when we have a bad day we just pick ourselves up and start afresh the next day . years ago I would have though ” what the hell” and kept eating .
I love 5.2 and there is just no way I will EVER put that 6 stone on again. The thing is I know I will probably weigh more and yet my clothes fell looser .
My hands and knees are sore ( my RA) and that in itself is enough for me to say out loudly Whoa girl ,stop there .
sorry if that is all a bit mixed up but I am sure you get the gist of it .
Hope the sun shines for you all today especially Amazon xx

Good Morning,
Awe I love to see you guys mellow about your OH! I told a friend yesterday that a relationship it’s not easy and the younger generation give up on each other to easy. They get into it with so high expectations like as if a reality show or a Hollywood movie. It’s not easy but I do love sharing my life with my husband π
Looks like we had quiet a bit of rain last night enough to make our plants happy. If stops I’ll walk on the woods with my girlfriend later but going to yoga this morning.
Also I was to go see the Chiro! I will stop with him because I haven’t seen any diference at all on my aches… Have to rethink about the whole thing π
My scale showed of corse less pounds today but I know exactly when I sin! I easily get distracted on my NFD. My cousin who I am going to London with arrives Sunday so we’ll be together for 18 days and it will be hard for me. Not her fault… It’s me. She had tried every diet under the sun. Maybe she should join us. Just in my head to think that I have to provide meals and entertain my level of stress goes up.
Amazon enjoy Wimbledon! It must be quite something nice to attend.
See you later π
Hello
Wee and Purple, that exchange between made me feel wobbly at the knees. Thinking about you too, Wee and your Jim and hope the day is getting better.
After yesterday’s hiccup, this is what we do best and we know it- supporting each other.
Thanks for all being there.
Will be watching your choir later today JoJo and tune into Wimbledon to find our fashion icon.
Apricot I was intrigued by your African connection. Were you in Malawi Zambia or Zimbabwe?
We took our very two young children to the Highlands of Papua New Guinea for 3 years. They picked up the local language (one of 750 in the country), but forgot it quickly.
Very good experienced for all of us to live there.
Talk tomorrow.
Xx Wiwi
Fast tomorrow
Morning all. Wimbledon on, having coffee.
Ahhh, so nice to see all white tennis clothes again. I may be non traditional in my lifestyle but I love classic clothing. Esp bc it’s rare to see classic here in Austin. Hippie is the tradition here. And I admit, hippie wear is so comfortable and flowing. βΊοΈ
Actually slept well so looking toward a better eat day. Lots of healthy food ready and waiting. I don’t break my fast until I get hungry…so that can be anywhere from 11am to 2pm.
Can I tell you how strong our minds are? I’m allergic to tomatoes – which pains me as I love them. But I get very strong ear n throat pain so I don’t eat them. Last night before bed, I was looking at my new vegetarian times magazine and there are tons of recipes with fresh tomatoes. I started talking to David about how much I loved them and describing how I used to eat them n how they tasted fresh from the garden etc, and this am?… I woke up with ear and throat pain!!! Just like when I eat them!!! True story!
I shall now start visualizing and feeling my body before children and perhaps I will wake up skinny! Lol
Wee, I’ve never let anyone diagnose me but myself, but I’ve had joint pain and inflammation on and off since I was very young. That’s how I first changed my diet so long ago…because it helped my joints. I definitely notice the fasting has taken away the rest of it that I couldn’t quite get a handle on. It’s very motivating isn’t it?
Alright, enough talk, going for a walk! πΎπΎπΎ
Slimn My RA has been so so much better since I have lost all the weight . My Lovely mam had Alzheimer’s still have dad who is amazing at 98 and Alzheimers is stealing him away more every day . Grans and aunts had it . I read 5.2 can help keep it at bay so I started 5.2 . The difference in my Asthma and RA is an amazing bonus . I have been running up and down stairs a lot and doing more in the house because my lovely man has had a major op ( I am sure you have noticed by my posts) My hands and knees are really sore today because of that it is ONLY temporary though and things WILL get back to normal. It is a good thing though as it has reminded me of how I used to be before 5.2 and 6 stone heavier. I love how I feel ( normally ) now . I feel years younger than my 74 years . I feel much smarter AND Jim says that I never ask him now ” do I look OK in that” because I always feel good now when going out .
PS hiya WIWI π π
Wee xx
slimn I had lost 2 stone before 5.2 then I lost 4 stone in the next year and I have been maintaining for over a year now . Sorry but I can’t remember all the exact dates I really just keep on keeping on fasting and it gets easier and easier . Some days I go without eating at all but I would NEVER recommend that for newbies . I never now plan a fast day . I just go by how I feel in the morning .When in the past I planned in advance then life got in the way I felt so angry with myself . if I fast day doesn’t work in with my day now I just move it to the next day
xxxxx
Wee- I can totally see that happening to me in time… Already I feel a different rhythm in my NF days… More space between meals, more awareness with my true hunger. I look forward to feeling into a day and making it a fast…I’m not there yet, but I can sense it will come.
Also, I had no idea what a stone was but I was thinking maybe double a pound? So I just looked it up! Holy Moly!!!! You lost 84 pounds????? And are maintaining it???? Unbelievable. Surely I can get 1 stone off. π³
You are truly an inspiration. I shall draw upon it. Thank you.
Awww thank you . This forum is brilliant . they are all my extended family now . Always someone here to give you a well done OR a kick up the bum lol . Unfortunately I have never had a” I am hungry switch” because I never stopped eating long enough to feel hungry . I am much better now though . On FD when my tummy is churning ,I always imagine it is churning out the fat . I really enjoy that feeling . Stay with us slimn and you can’t fail .
Wee xx
Damp and cool here again today, I’m just hoping we haven’t had summer and this is Autumn setting in π
The world of maintenance spins uneventfully here…I had another easy 24 hour fast yesterday, with a bit of unsweetened almond milk in my morning coffee, miso at lunch, and some butter mid afternoon π
Wee, so pleased to hear Jim is improving. In terms of weight loss, I think you/ Amazon are topping the leader board by some distance? It is always mind boggling to think of losing 6 st!
Amazon, I hope you had a great day yesterday. I was working so only caught a bit of Today and Wimbledon, and didn’t see you… I was thinking you ahouid have worn the mules…if you’d fallen down the steps you’d definitely have made it on telly π
Morning/evening all,
Happy, thanks for that kind thought…………… π
Yesterday was a really good day. I met my friend at 10.30am outside the entrance to Hospitality which is across the road from the tennis complex.
I was very glad that I had made the effort as far as what I was wearing as everyone else was dressed up. There were a lot of very high heels on display and I’ve no idea how the wearers managed to walk on the grass(in the rain!!!) or up and down the numerous and uneven steps to the courtside seats.
We were seated at a table for 8 and were soon joined by other guests who were a very interesting and friendly mix of people.
We started with coffee which was swiftly followed by champagne π
Then we had lunch with wine of course π I had a smoked salmon based starter followed by a seafood platter, both small portions of excellent food. Service was a bit slow so we left before dessert as the tennis was about to start. Our seats were more or less opposite the umpire so we had an excellent view of the court, the Royal box and the players boxes. I’m sorry that none of you saw me as I did wave π
We watched the first two matches on Centre Court. It was good to see Serena play live and once again I was surprised at the fact that the camera adds inches to people and she is much more slender than she looks on screen. I was very impressed with Mr Murray π After his match finished we decided to look around and see what was happening on the other courts but by the time we had made our way outside it was pouring with rain so we walked back to hospitality and had our dessert and more wine π
The other 6 table guests had all returned too and as the rain showed no sign of abating me and my friend decided we would stay for afternoon tea and not go out to dinner later as originally planned. So we had our sugar, carbs and yet more wine and eventually poured ourselved into one of the courtesy vehicles which took us to the station.
It was a fabulous treat and I enjoyed every minute apart from the rain and my shoes giving me a large blister on my big toe that is so huge and sore that even with the aid of a Compeed plaster I can’t wear my trainers so another day away from the gym π I’ll have to work really hard tomorrow to make up for it.
The food was very good and there was plent of it but everything was in very small portions, tiny little cakes etc so despite it not being the most healthy of food I didn’t eat a huge amount of anything apart from what was on the cheeseboard…
The weather here isn’t good with more rain forecast this afternoon. After that the next week or so is forecast to be dry and warm so fingers crossed that summer will be back with us soon.
Have a good one everybody ππΎπΎπΎ
Hi Purple,
We were talking to a group of Australians on our way into Hospitality. I heard the accent and turned round to see two middle aged ladies dressed from head to toe in gold and green. One of them was wearing a hat with corks and had gold stars painted on her face. They were hoping to swap their tickets for another court in order to support Kyrgios and Tomic and I guess they wanted them to know they had some support from home.
Centre Court is so different to the other venues where I’ve watched live tennis. It has an amazing atmosphere and now I’ve been I want to go again.
As far as being impressed with Andy, I was even more impressed in geting to see my idol Ivan Lendl in the flesh. I was a great fan of him in his playing days and couldn’t understand why no-one seemed to like him considering his talent.
I’ve heard that story somewhere else…….
Good morning,
Gorgeous day here!
Amazon what a fine event was that. I don’t understand anything about tennis. Yesterday I tried to watch it but we don’t have to many sports channel.
Ivan Landl had his tennis academy not to far from me in Banksville. He no longer onws it but still carry his name and it’s next to our bank branch. http://www.grandslamtennisclub.com/website/publish/about/index.php
We have some friends coming for lunch and later I need to check on that unfinished apartment.
If you are Fasting today…successπ
Amazon your day out sounds amazing. I took my Dad to Lords to see the cricket last year and it was so cool. My fast went so well yesterday until my hubbie suggested a drink last night. 3 drinks later, nachos out my fast was ruined. Do you have the most supportive hisbands on the planet or the naughty ones?
Hi Ali,
I believe nowadays with globalization and reality shows (housewives/Kardashians) drinking day and night, and very inexpensive wines from everywhere we are all drinking too much. Me as well π… Very heard to drink just one π·. Just count them weekly and can be scary.
My husband is very supportive of my 5:2! Prior to my FD I try to have all meals arranged for him and myself.
Keep trying girl… We’ll get there π
Good Morning
I am not new to the forums, but am new to this thread. Sounds lively and uplifting.
Also not new to fasting, nor LCHF.
I just finished 3 weeks of alternate day, and this week I did a 3 day fat fast. So far in the 3 1/2 weeks I have lost a further 7 pounds, so am very pleased. In the 3 day fat fast 4 of the 7 were lost. You cannot stay on the fat fasts long, 3-5 days tops.
Next week I will fast 3 days per week until I loose remaining 20 pounds.
In the last year and a half I have lost a total of 47 pounds.
I was very hungry this morning, but broke the fat fast with low carb pita filled with tuna. Just going to heat up some soup I made with homemade bone broth, cauliflower and broccoli and cheese of course. Yummy…
I will try hard not to eat too much today.
This week we (in Canada) celebrating July 1st and wish everyone happy holiday, and for all in the states – Happy 4th of July.
Hi LS, welcome to this thread. Sounds like you have plenty of experience.
Congrats on your Weightloss! And best to you as you continue.
What time zone are you in? I’m central. I am doing alt day fasting until I get off 13 pounds. Then I’d like to stay 5:2 for life.
I’m fasting today so checking in here when I get a little hangry. π‘
I was having a great FD. Got to 5 o’clock then our lovely Youngest granddaughter came to see how Granddad was feeling . She is 22 and such a loving caring girl . Brought Jim a huge Bourneville and me a bunch of rainbow tulips and a tub of honeycomb ice cream . I can resist everything in this world but ICE CREAM …oops I fell into it . The beauty of 5.2 is that I can fast tomorrow . Maintaining isn’t as hard as I thought it would be when I started 5.2
Wee xx
Ok got my walk on 10221 steps in the bank and got absolutely soaked right through bitterly cold it βwould freeze the b**ls off a brass monkeyβ and blowing a gale lets get a fast on people Amazon how glamorous your description I had a look at a centre court ticket to the final $20000 Australian far out that seems expensive but at least you can see your idol π I think only a hand full of us international fasters still work and I have some 17 years in front of me yet however as far as I can gather its really only myself Happy and Barata that still are on the work tread mill so can I ask Hello world You All Know Who You Are π can you quickly update the forum on your status please.? Happy Thursday
βIt is easier to avoid eating than to stop eating once startedβ
Peace RT
Thanks SlimNHealthy – and I also am central. I also am going to try to maintain alternate, but only 3 days per week Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
HealthCoach a fat fast is eating 90% fats for total calories per day, for only 3-5 days. Keeping to 1000 calories, or 1200 max. and eating 4-5 200 calorie fat bombs. I made little balls of cream cheese, shredded cheese which you could use as topping on cucumbers. Each little ball containing 200 calories, 90% fat. Also made a soup with 12 oz mushrooms, chicken broth, olive oil, and then heavy cream which also was approx 200 calories per serving. Made deviled eggs, stuffed with yolk, cream cheese, creme freche – these were only 100 calories per half, so could have 2. Made a drink of creme freche, almond milk, lemon extract, plus rind (1 other ingredient) and added a few strawberries. It is the only time you really need to count calories, and after day 1 is not so much of a problem. If you are loosing weight anyway, best not to go on fat fast. I used it to kick start a stubborn weight loss or plateau.
I will eat ketogenic and see if I can keep on with weight loss without having to resort to fat fast. Too many toxins can be released rapidly, which is why there is a limit of days.
Much more good information by Dana Carpenter & Martina Slajerova.
At the pool on fast and i wasnt a pleasant mommy getting here. I think i was burning some angry fat cells. Finally, i just told kids i was having a rough 20 minutes and that it would pAss, but maybe they could deep breath for me and share some calm. They did. And started being more helpful and we got here..and im better. β€οΈ
Hi all. I’ve been reading all the posts and thought I should let you know that I’m here and still working at getting my 5.2 on regularly.
RT another working 5.2er here π .
Can’t stop as have to get ready and go to work … early starts for another week then back to more standard hours for me.
Chat later ππππ
G’day AO! Great to hear you pop up βΊβΊ Hope all is well.
RT? What’s work? ππ
Glad you fell into that ice cream tub, Wee. π What a dear granddaughter.
LS, my hubby and I have enjoyed 5:2 (incorporating LCHF) for over 3 years. It has changed our lives, but it needs to be a long term, doable healthy way of eating to be sustainable. Lots of good, real food, a wide variety, especially seasonal, and limited processed foods.
Cheers everyone. ..Thursday fast day here. π P
Hi,
RT – right now I am in New England/CT(how fancy is that) – I am not on payroll and work everyday … (The wife from your Friday’s joke) then some time later this year I become a Snow Bird or Silver Surfing Board (?) on my husband’s paycheck expense lol.
Oma it’s so nice to hear about the ones maintaining π
Well, well! Change on plans for tomorrow! If I knew about it I’ve done fasting today. Last minute b-day girls party tomorrow. MY PLAN – tomorrow morning black coffee and lots of water and π Be careful w/ food.
