  • Amazon,
I cannot believe it is a year! Thinking of you xxx
RT- that quote was so true and so depressing. We all need to live for today but make good decisions that won’t be to our own detriment tomorrow. What a contradiction!

This thread is super busy today, everyone seems to be doing well.
Bay- ref the blood test, they probably think you may feint after a 12 hours of no food. Have you noticed the reaction of people when you tell them you don’t eat for 2 days per week or at least very little! My friends think I am demented, especially fellow bowlers. I didn’t even tell them about the 5 day fast even when they noticed the weight loss, just said ‘ yes I have dropped a little weight I have been watching the calories’. ( watching them not eating them).

Had to bring forward meal today to lunchtime as I am out later. It’s been an age since I ate lunch, really enjoyed it. Only a prawn salad but it made a change from soup.

I am booking lots of bowls competitions for the summer so I am going to be very busy. Probably playing 6/7 days per week either indoors or outside. Lucky I am retired. May need to resort to doing housework early morning or evening.

My appetite post long fast is returning, interesting. Weight maintained at 7 lb down. Hopefully it will be down further tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Wiwi and PVE, I agree that BSD is healthy version of mediteranean diet, not pizza or pasta version. Luckily I have never been a fan of either, not even keen on rice really. I love mozarrella with fresh tomatoes and basil though. The processed meats are probably not recommended either, they are in the same category as bacon.

It’s a beautiful day here so I am taking the dogs out for a nice walk along the coast. Chat tomorrow.

    Keep fasting, keep walking.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your kind wishes. The day has been a bit up and down emotionally but on the whole it was good. I met my niece’s new boyfriend who bought me flowers which was very sweet and thoughtful, and ended up eating lunch AND dinner which wasn’t in my plan, but it is what it is and I’ll be fasting again tomorrow.
The weather has been glorious and the forecast says more of the same tomorrow. I need to turn my thoughts to Rome and decide what I’m going to take with me to wear in order to wow all those Italian men ๐Ÿ˜‰

Look out Rome! The new look Amazon woman is coming. ๐Ÿ˜Š Watch those Roman hands!!!!P๐Ÿ˜‰

An advanced heads up to my Aussie fasters that on the program Sunday Night Channel 7 (this is the show that I first seen anything about the 5-2 thankyou coming up 2 years ago in September) there is a special on reversing Diabetes featuring the great man himself Dr M a Specialist Physician I think on the subject and the much maligned Peter Evans AKA Paleo Pete the concept being can we reverse and control this disease by diet a great way to wind up Motherโ€™s Day for sure ๐Ÿ˜‰ Amazon why am I seeing scenes from โ€œShirley Valentineโ€ in my mind files and

Shirley Valentine: You kissed my stretch marks!
Costas Caldes: Don’t, don’t be too stupid to try to hide these lines. They, they are lovely, because they are part of you, and you are lovely, so don’t, don’t hide, be proud. Sure. These marks show that, that you are alive, that you survive. Don’t try to hide these lines. They are the marks of life.

    Hello Everyone,

After a long traveling days here we back to rainy Connecticut! I was driving all the time with my two pacients. Doggy and hubby are well medicated and better then expected.
There so much to do here:cleaning (my least favorite), slowly replenishing fridge and freezer, and the garden. We’ll get the done at some point.

Amazon – sorry about your lost! I guess I was not following the thread last year. You are in my thoughts and enjoy you vacation in Rome.

RT – you are too funny! To bad I don’t have that channel 7 here.

To all – being reading all your posts! I am a little lazy with writing.

Since fasting it’s a mind “click” I’ll be back on Monday. Right now to many distractions. Preparing myself for 5:2/18:6

Went back to yoga Tuesday and I am so glad to see my instructor. Been with him for 11 years and I like him very much.

Otherwise tired with too much going on however happy.

    Good morning fast-trackers.

Amazon, Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries of the death of our loved ones are the hardest. You think you’re doing OK and these come out of the woodwork to derail your peace of mind yet again. <big hug>

Happy, the one legged squat is just like two legs: squat down, stand up keeping back straight, but bearing all your weight on 1 leg. The cable pull is similar to the effect of (say) standing on a high bank and having someone at foot level trying to pull you over. You can see why they’re so hard.

Bay, had to laugh at your blood test experience. My last was surprisingly high but now realize that it would have been about 16 hours since I had eaten. Thanks Purple and Nama for the explanations (and not forgetting the human pincushion Mr P, for taking one for the team.)

Jo, good strategy to just say you’re just watching your weight to your bowling team – they’re obviously not in the right head space to benefit from your experiences. Hope you and the dogs enjoyed your walk.

HealthCoachB, always good to get home after a trip – you’ll have that cleaning and tidying nailed in no time – do it on a FD. ๐Ÿ™‚

RT, wise words as usual from the Dalai Lama and a lovely quote from Shirley Valentine. Every now and then we all feel unloveable and need the metaphoric kissing of the stretch marks. Thanks for tip about Sunday night’s TV, not usually a channel I watch but will put in a program to record.

Wiwi, interesting reflections on the ‘traditional’ Med diet vs the modern one. Your little Romans, to quote P, will be pleased to see you.

AO, good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you are in pain – still your shoulder? Just do what you can and don’t stress. Everything in its own good time.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone, you know who you are ๐Ÿ˜‰

This morning’s ‘official’ weigh-in down 1.2kg for the week, 2lb 10oz for the imperially minded, (or is that imperious?) so very happy bunny today. Of course I realize that the rate of loss will slow as I weigh less but am happy to take it for now – sooo encouraging. In the meantime I am practising eating within my target TDEE for when I finally get to goal.

Keep up the good work everyone and take care of yourselves. n xxx

Hi HealthcoachB i will put a link in for the show for you next week all good

    RT

Hiya all doing the fast diet but I think I’m doing it wrong I’ve been on it for 2 months and only lost 4lb I’m Gutted and gave up last week. I want to start again. Can anyone give me tips ;-(

Also have a lovely time in Rome Amazon, all the best.

    Jafmensah,
    Intersting handle!
Welcome to our thread. Firstly establish what your daily calorie allowance is, there is calculator on this site to work it out. It is based on height, weight and activity level, don’t exceed this on non fast days and only have 1/4 of this amount on fast days. You can have less or no calories on fast days when you are used to fasting. Dring 8 glasses of water per day.
If you get get a pedometre try to walk 10,000 steps per day, preferably in the fresh air. Read the book, it will really help understanding and motivation. Avoid sugar and complex carbs in general, the Meditteranean diet is scientifically proven to be healthier.
Good Luck, you should lose minimum of 1 lb per week.

    Morning/evening all,

    Another beautiful morning ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜Ž

I’ve got so much to do and no inclination to do anything other than sit on the sofa so I’m going to have to force myself into action today.
I’m sure I’ll be raring to go after my second mug of tea……..

Have a good one everybody ๐Ÿ˜œ

    Good Morning,

The weather isn’t cooperating here at all but we keep going ๐Ÿ˜‰
I bought a new scale and was a little anxious to go it this morning. Of course not my favorite number.

NickyF – great tip. Monday will be fasting and cleaning.

RT – you are the best! Looking forward for the link.

Jafmensah – Jojo has lot’s of experience on this subject. Also do your own research in regards to fasting. It’s very interesting and it’ll keep you motivate.

    Be good everyone ๐ŸŽ

    LITTLE JOHNNY IS BACK:
The teacher asked the class to use the word โ€œfascinateโ€ in a sentence.
Molly put up her hand and said, โ€œMy family went to my granddad’s farm, and we all saw his pet sheep. It was fascinating.”
The teacher said, โ€œThat was good, but I wanted you to use the word โ€˜fascinate,โ€™ not ‘fascinating’.โ€
Sally raised her hand. She said, โ€œMy family went to see Rock City and I was fascinated.โ€
The teacher said, โ€œWell, that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word โ€˜fascinateโ€™.โ€
Little Johnny raised his hand, but the teacher hesitated because she had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided there was no way he could damage the word โ€œfascinate,โ€ so she called on him.
Johnny said, โ€œMy aunt Carolyn has a sweater with ten buttons, but her tits are so big she can only fasten eight!โ€
The teacher sat down and cried.
Have a happy Weekend all you beautiful losers ๐Ÿ˜†

Cute, if said with an American accent. Have a good weekend everyone. โ˜บ P

Lol RT love the weekly funnies ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

3 FDs this week saw me re-losing 2kg so I’m back where I was a couple of weeks ago. Now that I know I can do 23/1 I will have a go at 48/1 next week Wed/Thu as I have a birthday in between I won’t have a FD on my “usual” day next week.

I can feel the difference those 2kg make and glad to have them gone. I’m doing a semi FD today and tomorrow as I want to consolidate what I’ve done this week. I sure am finding it easier when working to fast.

Chat later as have to get on my way to work.

Well Done Aussie Oma- excellent work and an early Happy B for next week.

I am off to London tomorrow, cruising down the Thames, can’t wait. Early start and planning on making it a Fast Day.

Still no loss this morning but being patient.

Have a sunny and happy weekend guys, I will be bowling both days, hopefully in the sunshine.

    Morning/evening all,

    Another glorious day here.
I didn’t quite manage a food free FD yesterday but only had 250 calories. I’m fasting again today, having an empty fridge helps ๐Ÿ˜‰

AO, good to hear from you. I’m still losing weight previously lost and gained and while it is frustrating I tell myself that it is a better result that walking away from 5:2 and becoming obese again, so along with eveyone else, I’ll keep on and get there eventually, and we’ll all continue to support, encourage, commiserate and praise each other which makes such a difference.

I’m off to the gym soon, then it’s the hairdresser followed by ironing (๐Ÿ˜ซ) and packing. Last night I finally got round to writing a list of what I’m going to take to Rome which is very last minute but I like to write it all down so I don’t forget anything.

Time to go, have a good weekend everybody ๐Ÿ˜œ

AO great week for you outstanding really keep on keeping on ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒน๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒน๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒน

    Hello Everyone,
Another rainy day here! Besides bad novexcuses I will manage to go to the gym get my 30 minutes on elliptical and 1 hour yoga.
The plan was sauna after workout! Maybe tomorrow.

I am impressed how many of you guys became so advanced with fasting.
Looking forward to be part of this losers stories. I also am up and down! Decided to have patience myself.

RT – There’s a Jonnhy in Brazil too! He is hilarious. LOL

    Evening All,
Wonderful day out in Windsor and on the Thames in London with great company, photos on Facebook. Fast went well but 6 hours coach travel was difficult with sweets, biscuits and chocolates being passed around. I survived on water, an apple and blueberries. Came home and cooked scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Tried one slice of Chilli bread, heavenly!

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Well done, resisting the snacks ๐Ÿ˜Š The Thames up Windsor way would have been lovely.
I booked a 3 hour river cruise on a fast day recently, thinking it would be a great diversion. We resisted the beautiful smelling homemade ANZAC biscuits, but gave up when lunch came (a lovely basic salad, but not fast food) ๐Ÿ˜• No wonder the tickets cost much more than we expected. I didn’t know food was included!! P

    PVE,
Food was included on my trip but it was a ploughmans ( cheese, ham, bread, pickles)with salad, very resistable. I went to take photographs while people were eating.

Funny. I would normally too, but a glass of wine on a boat in the sun was irresistible. That’s the beauty of 5:2. So flexible. Only need to fast on 2 with 7 to choose from. ๐Ÿ˜Š You did well.

Well I’d have been tempted to eat the cheese, ham and salad.. LCHF compliments 5:2, but I guess might not agree with your gallbladder, or absence of, Jo? Are you finding much difference, post op?

    Happy,
Never been a big fan of Cheddar to be honest but I like blue cheese. No pain from digestive system at all thanks, no nausea either. Similar issues with foods repeating on me but I can live with that.
Other muscle injuries are playing up over the last few days though, shoulder, hip, neck and knees so not so wonderful. Just woken up in pain so getting some late night heat treatment for these. Probably too much bowls so I will cancel a couple of games next week and rest up.

LCHF compliments 5:2 couldnโ€™t agree more Happy spot on !!

I’m experimenting with including home made, flour based foods, occasionally, in our maintenance LCHF diets.
I use wholemeal, stoneground wheat and buckweat flours to make real sourdough, with handfuls of pumkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds and oats. I KNOW exactly what goes into them.
To allow for Mr P’s sweet tooth, I made a sourdough banana bread with walnuts, dates, oats and no sugar this morning. Well received and now cut in slices in the freezer for selective eating ๐Ÿ˜‰
I believe we still need to eat SOME grains, so they need to be of the highest quality. Unfortunately, nothing that is sold commercially fits the bill.
I think eating tradtional homemade food, from locally sourced, seasonal produce, has stood human beings in good stead for tens of thousands of years. Combine that with regular fasts, also practiced for millenia, and we have a roadmap to health.
Lovely Autumn Saturday here. Great to be alive!!! P

    PVE,
Problem with me is, bread addiction. Just can’t resist it so it’s better not in the house.
Actually it’s the food group that I believe lead me to obesity in the first place, I still crave it. Now my limit is one slice when out for a meal. I wonder if Chilli would work for soda bread? Of course less bread means less butter, I use it to cook egg or fish though. I agree Low Calorie and High Fat is the way to go.
It will be a summer of salads, prawns, eggs, fish for me plus lots of walking.
Still no decrease on the scales today, weight stuck since long fast. Does this happen to you RT? Mind you I didn’t hit even 4000 steps yesterday, mostly coach or boat travel with only an hour to walk around Windsor.
Playing competition bowls this afternoon, an away game in Canterbury. So I will squeeze in 5000 steps this morning with the dogs. Beautiful day here, summer is definitely here.

    Morning/evening all,

It’s a lovely morning here.I’m sitting wwdrinking my morning cuppa, looking at my suitcase and getting very excited.Flight is at a civilised time so I don’t need to leave until 9am.

A proper Ploughmans lunch with freshly baked bread, room temperature cheese, butter that doesn’t come in a tiny foil pack frozen solid, and some crunchy pickles is an endangered species which is what makes most of those on offer completely resistable!

Purple, your cooking experiment is something I plan on doing when I reach goal. I’ve been surfing the net and looking at sourcing stonemilled flours and those made from other grains. I love sourdough but the effort of keeping the starter going and wasting so much of it for bread for one which is no longer daily isn’t worth the effort for me, so I’ll stick to other types of bread and occasionally treat myself to a sourdough loaf from a proper bakery.
As for cakes, I’m employing a “how low can you go” experiment with sugar.

I ended up not fasting yesterday but ate sensibly. I shall fast today until dinner as planned. As for eating Rome I shall have a little of anything I fancy but avoid eating too many carbs.

    Arrividerci ๐Ÿ˜œ

SOOO exciting, Amazon. Have a wonderful trip.
Yes, bread was probably everyone’s downfall. Remember they used to say, “It’s not the bread, it’s what you put on it.” Wrong! !!
REAL sourdough is rarely made by bakeries.
The starter happily sits, unattended, for long periods in the fridge, waiting to be reactivated when needed. Quite a good houseguest, really.
Homemade sourdough bread keeps weeks in the fridge and is so satisfying (lots of fibre, not sugar) that one small slice suffices. Mr P is the only one who eats it regularly and then only 3 times a week (I only eat it the day it is cooked for quality assurance. ๐Ÿ˜‰) It is also easy to cut and freeze, ready to take out a single slice to toast.
I worry about cutting whole sections of healthy food out of diets completely. It can often lead to intolerances developing.
Eat a little of everything that is healthy (and that definitely does not include white, bought bread, margarine, sugar replacements, ‘diet’ foods, anything made in a factory to replace the real thing….
    P โ˜บ

Hi Jojo in general terms yes absolutely and the days after an extended fast tend to be a bit like the morning after the night before really ๐Ÿ˜‰ clearly the honeymoon does not last forever that being said I would suggest that you hold onto at least 50% of the exaggerated weight loss after the big drop and the body should settle back into the normal routine if you can call our chosen 19/5 over 7 days a week normal so then subtract the two fast days for 5-2 fast days of zero calorie intake that then leaves us with just 25 hours a week or we are fasting 6 days a week and feasting just one give or take and can still function effectively so given that 19 x 7 = 133 hours fasting a week then giving up another 10 feed hours on 2 days a week which is 143 hours in the fasted state so 7 x 24 hours = 168 hours in a week minus 143 hours fasting equals just 25 hours a week for us Jojo to consume calories so really we should be quite literally just feeking stick people ๐Ÿ˜†

50 % gain of post fast loss, seriously. I really hope not I was upset about the pound I regained. So I should be happy it wasn’t more. I am going to do a B2B on Monday, Tuesday see if that helps. I really need to see those scales going down to maintain motivation. I won’t be changing 19/5, that’s here for good. It has retrained me in a way I could only have dreamed about in the past. Basically it’s one meal a day and fluids because I usually have soup for the other meal break. I don’t think I am getting enough exercise these days though, I may need to rethink what I am doing. I keep starting HIT then stopping it, no consistency. Bowls doesn’t really count as its a very low step count over 2 hours, under 3000 usually. My dog walk is usually low pace as they are off the lead sniffing around. Since I stopped the gym last July I have stopped swimming and dancing regularly. I have no excuse as I have a beach to run on which is across the road and I own a cross trainer. I just need a buddy to motivate me because I am not motivating myself very well except fasting which is going well on the whole.
Summer is here hopefully that will be the incentive I need.

Jo! Stop beating yourself up over exercise! All the current literature points to diet and fasting for weight loss. Exercise is for muscle toning and endorphins. Many people overcompensate with food after exercise, so, in fact, gain weight when performing excessive exercise.
Intermittent fasting is intermittent. 2 to 3 days a week of 1/4 of your (goal weight) TDEE and mindful, but proper healthy eating on the other days. Your body needs the highs and lows to allow cell healing, to burn fat and to maintain a normal metabolic rate.

You have done incredibly well to get to where you are. Remember, though, how long you took to gain the weight originally. How long you practiced overeating/unhealthy choices etc (I’m speaking from experience here) and understand it will take a consistent, measured approach to reverse it.
Follow a tried and proven method and stick to it. Do basic intermittent fasting, with mindful, but not overly calorie restricted, eating on other days and accept it as a life long habit, not “another diet that is going to fail”, because it won’t!
I am saying this in response to your cry for help. We are all here in this together Jo. ๐Ÿ˜Š P

    Hello Everyone,

Bravo Purple! Let’s cheers Jojo up.
Jo you are are an unbelievable driven person. I keep reading your posts and you are in my books very busy. I am sure that counts. You have a very nice testimony here. Sorry about your pains and aches for now … It’s gonna go away soon. ๐Ÿ™

I am a great believer of eating a variety of foods and not from far away. Man made foods are the one of the problem and we can sure get addicted to eating it. Bread it’s the one of the oldest source of fuel. Of course I agree w/ Purple about the quality.

RT – it’s too early in my head to digest all those numbers ๐Ÿ˜ฑ My head so far it’s 5:2-18/6 ๐Ÿ‘€

Still raining here! Planning to go to the gym (elliptical, Pilates, sauna), supermarket and little by little organize my paperwork.

    Be good folks ๐Ÿ˜˜
    B

    Jo,

As you know your two fasts a week will equate to 0.5lb weekly fat loss at best, which may or may not show up on the scales each week depending on retained water/ food in transit etc. You are just not going to see a big weekly loss, rather a gradual reduction over time.

So if you’re relying on seeing the scales move short-term to maintain motivation, then I’m afraid it seems unlikely that you will maintain motivation.

So what then? You stop fasting and regain all your weight?

You have to have realistic expectations of what you can achieve.

If you do a 4 or 5 day water fast every few weeks and lose 4-7lbs, and maintain that loss in between, you’ll be doing considerably better than you have been for the last x months. Why would you not be happy with that?

    Happy and PVE,
I may well go down that road ( long Fasts monthly) but not if I regain half, especially interested in that approach as I felt so good.
I will just keep working on what works for me.
Thanks for all your support I will keep trying.
Meantime I resisted biscuits at bowls and drank water instead of Gin/Tonic after the game. We won 24/7 which was great, really cheered me up.

    Really enjoying the sunny weather

    Jo,

PVE and Happy are spot on. Realistically you will lose about 1 pound per week. I only lost 0.7 pounds per week over the course of 2015. Your weight will easily bounce up and down 1-2 pounds. How long do you think it takes for the food you eat to pass through and out the other end?

Regards exercise a gentle one hour walk is fine. I do this every day. In fact operating at about 50-60% of your max effort burns more fat as a proportion of total energy expenditure than operating at close to max effort.

Stop eating simple carbs and sugar in things like cakes, biscuits etc. The longer you can do this for the better off you will be. Especially if you are addicted to sugars.

I did my 5:2 as a water fast. I now do 6:1 but still do a water fast every Monday. Im not saying you need to do this, but give it a try and see if it works for you. If not then stop doing it. For me I found it easier that trying to eat 1/4 of TDEE but everyone is different.

Thanks for the contribution Bigbooty, I actually do all those things.

Just off to walk the dogs along the coast on a perfect summers day, warm and no chilly wind, heaven.

After this I will be playing bowls for two hours then spending the afternoon gardening.

Salad day today and fasting water and green tea only tomorrow.

    Enjoy Sunday everyone, be happy.

    Morning Jo,

Isn’t it lovely to be warm again, after what felt like a long winter?

Congratulations on your win yesterday, I hope bowls goes well today too.

I’m having a big gardening weekend, trying to get everything started in a rush now the weather’s cone good.

I’ve restarted running after a long break (cold/ wet winter and chronic bad back). Yesterday I ran 5K, and surprised myself with my level of fitness. I think my 5-7K brisk daily walks through March and April must have been good preparation.

It does sound like you could do with upping the intensity of your exercise to give you a mood boost at least. If your dog walk is a stroll, perhaps head our for a half hour power walk later on. Weren’t you doing Nordic walking a while ago?

Hopefully you’ll see some movement on the scales next week. I don’t know what residual effect a five day fast has on the body, but it will have been a shock to this system! If, as RT says, most people regain half the weight lost, then even just maintaining your weight this last week sounds like a result!

    Just try and maintain consistency.

    Happy,
Very impressed with your 5 K run, good for you.
My mood is high but so is my frustration level.
I would like to do the Nordic Walking again but it’s a bit boring on your own. Now the evenings are warmer and lighter I must start doing some faster walking. It was great on the shoulders and waistline.
Lost my bowls game today because we were outplayed. Everything we put in place the other team took out with deadly accuracy, respect. Just mowed the lawn and now getting on with some gardening. It’s very hot here, literally dripping with sweat.

I have decided not to weigh until next Saturday, try an Amazon weekly version.

Good Luck for this week everyone

Risky stuff Jo. The price of slenderness is eternal vigilance. ๐Ÿ˜Š P

I was very encouraged by Annette52, who had plateaued for a month but just ignored that, didn’t get thrown and kept plugging on, then suddenly it moved down again. It’s not very steady, is it? Very annoying and depressing. Hope it goes well this week for you Jojo. I’ve had a poor week too, my own fault but 2 lbs on and not shifted by the fast days. 4:3 this week and hopeful. My low carb has weakened too, so more attention to that.

Giving up aiming to be healthy is simply not an option, is it, Apricot? ๐Ÿ˜Š P

    Howdy,
I have been enjoying the conversations. Everyone here gives me motivation to keep on going. I am at maintenance. I did complete 14 days of having no coffee. So I celebrated today by having coffee and liquid fasting. 2 cup bone broth, 2 cups veggie soup, and water. So I had an awesome mothers day. PVE and everyone else health is number one and it is a bonus to be the right weight.
Apricot let us know how we can help.
RT- Thank you for your jokes, information, and encourgement.
Jo- you are an amazing woman and five days is spectacular, I love a good challenge, you did it… you can do anything.
HappyNow, I started jogging 4 minutes every morning, going to go to five this week, it makes me happy afterwards. But I still like my coffee.lol
Nicky, awesome on the weight loss, thanks for putting it in imperial language, you are doing fantastic. How is practicing TDEE going?
    Take you all

    Hi all,

I am managing a strict fast today after my weekend indulgences…. I find now, that because I know a fast will ‘undo’ any damage, the ‘forbidden fruit’ that I am indulging in loses some of its attraction; Is it the food losing its attraction because it is no longer forbidden, or is my common sense kicking in, thinking ‘dont go too mad, this has to be paid for with a fast’? More mind games I guess! But its an advantage. I am more relaxed with situations that previously made me tense. I guess its a type of confidence that fasting has given me. I am not saying fasting is a breeze, but I accept it as a way to stay on track, despite splashing out for 3 days.

Melbourne is freezing today. I am trying to keep busy but really missing the warming aspect of food. Lots of hot coffee and looking forward to some hot soup later. I am glad you in the NH are finally getting some sun.

    Sarah,
Good for you, not an easy decision.
I think I will join you on the jogging. I can keep the dogs on the lead for the first five minutes of their daily walk, they might enjoy it. They are pensioners too, (in dog years 80’s- our years age 11 and 12 respectively)but they are both very fit and lively. Both dogs can still chase other dogs or balls for 30 minutes without collapsing, I wish I was that fit but I won’t start chasing dogs or balls, might get taken away in a black van.
But I can walk 2/3 hours without concern so not too bad for my age, a very young 60 year old.
Bringing forward my walk to early am for the summer, can’t beat it. 7.30 am is delicious, birds singing and only dog walkers in the park, no picnics to drag the dogs away from before they get in trouble. I muzzle my dogs when off lead but it doesn’t stop them being interested in food, especially cheese.
Fasting today and looking forward to no food. Keep drinking everyone especially if it’s hot where you are, over 70 degrees here yesterday, bliss.
PVE- you know me, a risk taker, adds spice to life.
Apricot, we all have bad weeks, join me on the band wagon this week with three fasts, thinking of you and wishing you success,

At dinner with friends and family Johnny was asked to say the prayer. “But I don’t know how to pray,” he replied.

“Just pray for your family, friends and neighbors, the poor, etc,” said his father.

    “Okay,” the boy said.

“Dear Lord,.. Thank you for our visitors and their children, who finished all my cookies and ice cream. Bless them so they won’t come again. Forgive our neighbors son, who removed my sister’s clothes and wrestled with her on the bed. This coming Christmas, please send clothes to all those poor ladies on my Daddy’s Blackberry who do not have any clothes. And provide shelter for the homeless man who uses Mom’s room when Daddy is at work….AMEN”

    Dinner was cancelled.

โ€œIt is easier to avoid eating than to stop eating once startedโ€

    Hi Nama
Jason Fung suggests the cold feeling when fasting is your body trying to force you to eat. I won’t be tricked any more … I dress more warmly on fast days, like today. ๐Ÿ˜‰ P
