I find it hard to believe myself but some of it may be related to removal of gall bladder as well as the Detox. I truly feel rejuvenated after 5 day fast, definitely worth a trial maybe before or after a big holiday or Christmas. Make some pudding room?
I always prefer the smell of ‘full English’ to the taste. My choice is always scramble egg with salmon or the dreaded but tasty buttered toast( a very rare treat). I will observe and record, another light food day planned, 19/5, woken neither hungry nor thirsty.

Nicky- fantastic effort- steady weightloss is probably the best way but like Amazon I usually yoyo. Just checked scales 1 lb up yet I was well under TDEE and exceeded 15,000 steps yesterday so I am thinking water retention( or Gin).

Sunny here again today so I will be bowling first then doing my baskets, bought some perlite yesterday, essential to protect the roots with our coastal winds.
I have eaten Cullen Skink prepared by a Scottisg friend- very tasty.

    Have a great day everyone.

Good grief Jo. You’ve barely slept! Sleep deprivation is another source of weight gain! Go back to bed girl! !!! 😴 Mr P swears Cullen Skink kept his glucose down in Scotland.(or was it the cream teas? πŸ˜‰) P

Jo, you had an empty digestive tract when you weighed at the end of your fast, of course you will have gained 1lb but you know as well as I do that it is food in transit not fat so you don’t need to find a reason for it. Your reaction to it proves my point about why I don’t weigh every day, I just can’t be doing with the stress πŸ˜†

Happy, I like to have a nice flat but I loathe cleaning. It is only a one bedroomed place so takes no more than an hour to clean but I still avoid it as long as possible.
When my cats were alive, the friend who is coming tomorrow used to stay here and look after them when I went on holiday. I always left the flat clean (or so I thought) but when I got home it was always much cleaner and tidier than I had left it! I’ve vacuumed, dusted high and low, polished furniture, and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen including washing the floors. That’ll be it for quite some time πŸ˜‰

I now need to clean myself, prepare tonights main course and bake a chocolate berry torte.

I had dinner out last night and made the mistake of having dessert so am craving food this morning. I don’t know how I’ll last until dinner……

My husband has observed that the best part about entertaining is the clean house beforehand!! I think housework is overrated, the dust starts falling again the second it is removed! I always like clean bathrooms and toilets, but the rest usually gets done as required. Isn’t it funny, when working, I always felt I would never ‘catch up’ with home chores. But now I have the time, I would rather be out in the garden. Also, if a room is tidy and reasonably clean, who notices if it is not perfectly clean?

The new series of Grand Designs aired here tonight and the massive house was more like a hotel. And the owner apparently made his squillions running his own cleaning business! Something is not quite right. He makes money cleaning houses for people too busy to do it themselves, then uses his money to build a house that could not possibly be kept clean – all shiny surfaces and acres of glass windows. Ah well, thats capitalism and democracy for you! (I don’t have a better alternative!)

It is nice to be having soup again isn’t it Nicky? I made some cauliflower soup today, its so low calorie I can feel myself losing weight as I eat it. Followed by a huge bowl of coleslaw for dinner, I now feel seriously overfull. Yup, its definitely about food choices….
I hope your dinner party goes well Amazon, the dessert sounds yum!

I watched the Grand Designs episode too and was staggered they had no pool fence. No compulsory pool safety in West Sussex?? P

I was also thinking about the heating bill Purple! That poor man definitely has OCD (seriously). Such a big house and it looked like the kids only visited on weekends….

Yep. Imagine how much they love visiting… ‘don’t touch anything, you might dirty it!’ πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

The pool cover was nifty but made me think of a possible horror movie where it was closed whilst someone was under the water!!

You’ve watched too many movies Nama!! 😊
The pool cover wouldn’t stop the little kid drowning. …he had it open in evwry shot. Too many kids die because people want their pool to look good. 😯 P

    Amazon,
You are probably right but I am weighing for evidence post fast not as an obsessive. Take weighing in my stride it doesn’t impact on my plans. It’s low cal this weekend and fast Mon, We’d, Friday until I get to goal. No longer setting an end date, too many have gone by the board which is dispiriting. I hope this euphoria continues. Thinking about it I remeber I had a similar feeling post appendix removal surgery when I was 18.
Glorious day here, just played bowls, lost significantly as I was playing with two invalids, one wearing oxygen cylinder and one first time out after his third stroke. Got to give them their due, not giving up. They did OK actually and enjoyed the game. I was actually wearing sleeveless shirt for the first time this year. Hoorah. Now to do some gardening post cuppa break.
Nama- I agree all pools and ponds should be fenced. We have tragedies here every year even in public ponds.
Like most of you I detest cleaning, preferring to be outside. When I ran the nursery it was a daily necessary evil, now it’s a pre guest activity only. Not even ashamed of myself, life is too short for worrying about dust and ironing is almost extinct in this house.

    Morning All,
Feeling the effects of gardening today, stiff and backache. Not planning much physical activity today. Overcast here but feeling thankful after seeing Tanga’s snowy garden. How are things up north Wee?

Our town was on the news last night, a young girl killed in a neighbouring town and washed up on our coast. Very sad. 21 year old male arrested.

I am enjoying a Fast Day lay in whilst practising ‘bidding’ for my bridge class tomorrow. So many rules and parameters to remember. Working on learning about Artificial bids.

Back to my pattern of soup at lunchtime and fish/ veg or salad in the evenings. No alcohol or complex carbs on fast days. I still like some potato( egg sized) on non fast days and usually indulge in some honey and mustard dressing as a treat, just improves salad 100 %

Off to a ‘ plant swap’ today. I hope they have some bizzie lizzies, my favourite. I am taking geranium cuttings.

Have a good Bank Hoilday Monday UK followed by a sucessful week everyone.

    Morning/evening all,

Dinner was really good, we ate and drank far too much and probably disturbed the neighbours with our singing along to ABBAs greatest hits πŸ˜†

I got up late this morning and am having a relaxing morning pottering around at home. I’ve prepped dinner for tonight which is all I needed to do as somewhat miraculously I had cleaned up and put the dishwasher on before going to bed last night πŸ™‚

I’m sitting here thinking I should go out for a walk but I’m in a really lazy mood today so maybe I’ll just go with it and put my feet up. I had originally planned on going to the gym but have decided to go tomorrow instead. I did a lot of exercise last week so a couple of relaxing days are in order and I’ll be raring to go again tomorrow.

It is dry but cloudy here and rain is forecast for later, but the rest of the week is looking good with temperatures up to 21Β°C by Friday.
    About time too πŸ˜‰

Have a good one everybody 😜

Ha ha Amazon, your today sounds like my yesterday! Luckily it is a bank holiday, so I don’t feel I’ve lost the whole weekend. Hoping to finish potting on my tomatoes, chillies and cucumbers to their final greenhouse home…in readiness for summer promised later this week πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‘πŸ‘™πŸŒž

    Hi Happy,

It is our bodies telling us we need to recharge our batteries πŸ˜‰
The sun has put in an appearance here and it is very pleasant outside, I walked to the postbox without a jacket. That’s my exercise over for the day!

I need to get into the garden this week and do some tidying up. There is only a couple of hours of work to be done and it is nothing hard, just a bit of weeding, feeding, trimming and planting. I’m planning on doing it tomorrow afternoon to keep me occupied and my nose out of the fridge!

    Hi All,
Another fast day bites the dust. The plant swap was interesting, collected some very unusual plants. The garden was enormous and full to bursting.

Watching a very touching film called Housewife 49 with Victoria Wood, set during 2 nd World War. We have lost a great actress.

Have a good week everyone, time to dig out the summer dresses Amazon

    Hi fast Trackers

It’s now a month since we began the Blood Sugar Diet, and apart from a few deviations of a social nature, we have kept to it. My monthly loss is 1.4 kg, with about 6-8 kilos to go to top of acceptable range. I think for us experienced fasters without blood sugar issues (except Mr P of course) that the BSD is what we basically do anyway.
I can see from the BSD fora that for many it is a lifeline and there are some amazing weight losses, and corresponding blood sugar levels reversals.

That is my assessment after a month. I will stick to it generally for the rest of my life. Until I reach goal weight, I will continue also with 5:2 with a weekly 24 hour complete 0 calorie fast.

I guess I am a bit disappointed with only 1.4 kg loss, but it’s a 300 calorie deficit a day. It’s only 300 because of a handful of rather lavish French meals with friends and family.

I am certainly not losing weight at the same rate as at the beginning and the goal of the end of June is not realistic, but another 3 kg should have disappeared by then.

    Happy Fasting.
    xx wiwi

    Top work Wi!
We are doing 4:3 this week as we have become a bit blasΓ© and need to haul back a little.
It seems in order to keep the metabolism from slowing, making calorie restriction only as a maintenance /weightloss method is ineffective. Interesting as this is what Mr P found with his diabetes control. Regular fasts seem necessary longterm to stop insulin resistance developing and to reset the weight set point.
    Any ideas folk?
Gorgeous autumn day here. Ideal for gardening and long walks. P

    Morning/evening all,

The sky is blue, the sun is shining and it is going to be 20°C today 😎

A much needed FD for me today and a morning at the gym.
I’ve frozen the leftover chicken from last nights dinner and am considering turning Sundays lamb into a curry and freezing it and trying a couple of liquid fasts this week. I’ll see how I feel after a morning at the gym and an afternoon in the garden.

Wiwi, I have to keep moving my goal date as I allow socialising to slow down my loss but I’m having such a nice time that it is worth it.

It’s good to hear that the BSD is really helping people who are willing to try it to improve their health. I hope it is the start of global recognition that type 2 diabetes is not progressive and incurable and rather than treating the symptoms with yet more insulin, the medical profession should start supporting people in reversing the condition.

Time to put my soapbox away and get moving πŸ˜‰

Edit, Purple just seen your post. It would seem that fasting is the way to go. As Jason Fung says in his book, we need a prolonged period without food to allow our insulin levels to drop sufficiently. I’m happy to live a 16:8 lifestyle with maintenance fast days of either one meal or calorie free (if I can master it)

Snacking needs to be made illegal……..

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Morning All,
Well Done Wiwi, BSD was not for me, too much cooking, very expensive compared to my usual choices. I did loose well on it but had stomach pains on both occasions I tried it.
I am still feeling great but no further loss recorded even on Two calorie control days at 1200 and one fast day at 450. I suspect I am retaining water and food at the moment so I will be increasing liquids and roughage today.
PVE- I think 2 or 3 days per week for three weeks is ideal, zero cal plus 5 days once per month to add health benefits and a boost to energy. Just my take on it but I definitely think the long fast has helped my hunger control. Just finding it easier post fast not to think about food every waking minute.
Just walked around the park in warm sunny conditions, birds singing, counted 8 species which is unusual in a predominatly parakeet woodland.
Off to bowls now, have a great day everyone.

Yes Jo. Fasts definitely alter hunger levels on other days. I intended to eat ‘big’ today and Thursday, between 3 fasts, but found I was just not hungry ☺

I was actually wondering how the BSD study of one was going for those of you who got on board interesting compliance rate and outcomes. Jojo the daily 19/5 Intermittent Fasting serves us well there is only 35 hours a week for us to graze and even less if you restrict on your fast days to zero calorie water black coffee black tea and green tea. I have always enjoyed the 4 day fast reboot reset scenario with the health benefits and longevity the ultimate goal as D M says I Love Life
    Eat Fast & Live Longer
    Peace RT

    Jo,

If you eat only 1200 calories on non-fast days (you say that’s roughly your TDEE?) and 450ish calories on two fast days, you would expect to lose at most 0.5lbs a week, so you really are going to have to be patient, embrace the way of life and not obsess about the numbers!

When you say you tried the BSD twice and lost well both times, could you summarise your two attempts and what weight loss you achieved? I had thought that you didn’t try it for that many days and I don’t remember you telling us what you lost! It would be interesting to know though, particularly since you presumably wouldn’t have achieved any greater calorie deficit than with your normal 5:2 routine?

    Afternoon all,

I had a good morning at the gym, completing my workout with lots of stretching. I’ve been suffering with cramp for a couple of days due to not doing so after exercise on Friday and Saturday. I should know better by now 😟

I’ve just put the contents of the fridge into a lamb curry which is going into the freezer once cooked and cooled. I’ve decided I’ll try a no food FD today. I had two mugs of tea with a splash of milk this morning and I’m now enjoying my mega sized mug of coffee also with some milk and then I’m going to stick to water and mint tea.

I didn’t get to the garden centre as a couple of things cropped up that needed attending to so the garden will have to wait until Thursday.

I’m not going to get anything else done as I’m now watching tennis 😁

    I guess I could iron while I watch……..

    Happy,
I will need to check my records tonight but I think it was 4 lbs over 7 days but I included two fast days. I know my fast days are expected to lose half a pound.
RT – you have it pegged chum.
Purple- it’s good to know we can beat the mind control issues.
Amazon- enjoy the tennis and zero calorie fast.

    Hi Jo,

It’s not zero calories but I’ll settle for under 100:smile:
I’ve had a taste of the curry to make sure it was cooked and seasoned properly before being frozen.

I’ve got all the doors and windows open so the place doesn’t smell like an Indian restaurant so I won’t smell it when I get hungry later πŸ˜†

    Jo,

4lbs in one week is an awesome result! And you haven’t tried again! You must really really hate cooking πŸ˜‹

    Happy,
Yes I do not have the time or inclination for cookery, preferring to be in the garden or out and about.
I do cook fresh veg and fish everyday or eggs( several different ways). I eat out at least once per week and make my own vegetable soup. I cook when we have visitors which is at least weekly. I prepared salad nicoise today which lasts a couple of days.

I would rather have zero calories than do the BSD plan. Luckily I don’t have diabetes health risk. I do have a diet based on Meditteranean food plan so It should be healthy.
Have you tried it? Are you going to?

    Fasting tomorrow

    Good morning fasttrackers.

Amazon, I can understand why you would want to clear the house of the smell of curry. Fortunately my office is now on another floor well away from the staff lunch room – the smell of toast on a FD is almost irresistable.

Jo, your regular diet seems easily doable so, with no blood sugar issues, why make things harder by adopting a new, more complicated and expensive eating program when time is important. Salade nicoise? Yummm!!

Wiwi, very interesting results, well done for sticking with it.

RT, agree that the daily 19/5 with weekly 5/2 seems to be a good routine for our lives.

Happy, hope you enjoyed your lie-in – so luxurious when you don’t HAVE to get up.

All going well here. With only 1 FD so far (another today) the scales are 0.9kg down from last Thursday’s ‘official’ weigh-in. I was surprised by this morning’s reading because I felt I had overindulged yesterday, although did have a heavy weights session … and feeling it this morning. My trainer introduced a killer exercise – one-legged squats while resisting the pull of the cable on the weights machine. Apparently not only good for leg strengthening but also improving proprioception, which declines with age because we don’t challenge our sense of balance as we did when children. I told him it was my least favourite exercise but he just laughed and said it was a good reason to persevere. So unsympathetic! πŸ™‚

Happy hump day fasting friends, all downhill now to the weekend. n xxx

    Wow, Jo.
    You lost 4lbs in a week. πŸ‘―πŸ‘―πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ˜‚
Like Happy I would find that irresistible as a way to finish losing the weight. However, as Nicky says, you have to do what you find doable. And we are in for the long haul.

I am in the midst of doing serious 5:2 in order to reset the appetite and get the benefits of long fasts. So far 1.5 kg has gone away again this week. Thank you all for being here as I am reading if not posting much.

This morning I went to have blood drawn for a raft of tests, as my doctor has decided that she wants a benchmark as I tip into old age later this year. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜œπŸ˜œ. Joining Nicky! I sure don’t feel old, and Nicky, you don’t sound old. My Mum is still going strong at nearly 95.

Nicky, I also had a Dexa scan for bone density on spine and Left hip. I am so glad we live in Australia where such scans cost 100 dollars, not being eligible for discounts etc. as I’m a self funded retiree.

However, I had fasted from 8 pm last night until 10.30 am this morning. It was after all a fasting blood glucose etc. 😳😳 However, it didn’t happen. The nurse said it was not their policy to draw blood from people who were on extended fasts as it affects the results. An extended fast is one that is over 12 hours. Go figure. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. I could have lied my way into the test, but I thought I would Google and find out how extended fasting affects the blood test results. These tests are for Vitamin D, blood glucose, Haemoglobin, triglycerides, liver function, B12 etc etc.

All I could find were statements from various medical bodies that hard physical exercise, fasting, alcohol the night before, and even medications affect blood test results. Fasting beyond 12 hours is not recommended prior to testing. No explanation as to why.

Does anyone know exactly what is affected in the blood test results by extended fasting, that is over 12 hours?

I am going back to the pathology place next Tuesday at 7.30 am to have blood taken for the tests. I will fast on Tuesday instead of Monday, so that I don’t affect the results. I am curious as to how and why there is an effect on blood test results. Any information or links greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, all, Bay β˜•οΈβ˜•οΈπŸŒΊπŸŒΊ

    Bad luck Bay.
I asked Mr P, the human pincushion. He says it has to be after a 10-12 hour fast to get accurate blood glucose results as after 12 hours you are starting to metabolise your fat deposits, which will effect results.
    Try again tomorrow?
Btw, a gorgeous young thing, like you (and Nicky) is definitely NOT old!
Also putting extra effort in this week. 2nd of 3 alternate day fasts today for a quick reset.Lucky the garden needs some extreme work!!! P 😊

    Hi Purple

I like the sound of that, metabolising my fat deposits. πŸ™„πŸ™„. Have just had my only coffee of the day and am planning to go 24 hours without food. I almost said I was doing 4:3 but thought I might jinx myself. We arrived home on Wednesday night.

So far I have fasted on Thursday, then Monday and now today, Wednesday. Have careered downwards in weight and more importantly in waist size. Also feeling good about being able to stick with long fasts on a regular basis. We have been away from home so much, and it’s much easier to fast at home.

    Cheers, Bay 🌺🌺

PS. Love my Fitbit. I walked to the next suburb to the pathology collection place. Some 7,000 steps later!

I’m just inside after all morning in the garden. Brilliant. Branches, bark, braken and fishbone ferns gone. My natives are free to breathe and grow. Compost shovelled into the veg bed and winter veg seeds planted and watered. So easy when I’m busy, away from the kitchen. 😊
We are staggered how we will opt to walk long distances to shops and appointments now. We’d never have considered it 3 years ago.
    P πŸπŸ‚πŸπŸŒΊ

The human pincushion kindly did an extra jab for you, Bay. His blood sugar result first thing this morning, after normal overnight fasting, was 5.2. Now, at 2.15pm, with nothing but black coffee since last night, it has risen to 5.7. I guess that’s why they need a controlled fast period before your bloodtest. 😊
    Thanks Mr P!

    Hi Bay,

I am no expert but I think Purple has nailed it with the term “controlled”, ie they can compare results to a standard. Our bodies biochemistry is so complicated, there could be lots of things going on and skewing results. Another one I can think of is the state of hydration/dehydration following various fasting lengths. They are literally counting cells on a slide, so the solids/liquids in our bloodstream change concentration with hydration levels. Of course our kidneys are constantly working to autocorrect whatever we do to our bodies, but they can only do so much! Good to hear you have slipped easily into fasting now you are home. I agree, I find it much easier to fast at home.

Amazon I did laugh at your description of putting the ‘contents of your fridge’ into your curry! Made me think of that hilarious episode of “Black Books” when Bernard was throwing all manner of things into a soup, including the knobs off the front of the stove! Your Italian adventure must be starting soon?

I am away to Jamieson with a girlfriend tomorrow (Thurs) til Sunday, with no wifi at all. Knowing this thread, there will be an awful lot to read when I get home! Aiming to do lots of walking to counteract the wine and food in front of the fire!

Such a lot of good information in here
and some great posts both funny and serious.

Doing b2b fasts this week with max 200 cals all liquid. Aiming for one more day this week ie tomorrow as yesterday was hard, today is not so hard so hopefully tomorrow will be easier again πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I needed this to reset things as unfortunately pain relief has been needed over the past couple of weeks but resisting them as much as I can but find I do need to sleep overnight πŸ˜€

Work is going well but will be glad when I have more to do but that’s not for a couple of weeks yet.

Very wet and heavy clouds overhead today but thankfully not very windy unlike yesterday.

Will check in on Friday with my results for this week.

Interesting reading about your failed attempt to get a blood test Bay! If the fast needs to be 10-12 hours max, why would the doctor schedule it as late as 10.30am? Midnight snack anyone…?!

Jo, no, sadly I won’t be trying the BSD. I’ve been maintaining now for two years and don’t need to lose any more weight. It’s like extended fasting for me – I look at it and think ‘ah, if only I weighed a bit more’ ! Ha ha, I’ve got the menopause in a few years so maybe that will give me the opportunity to try these things πŸ™‚

Nicky, I’m intrigued by your workouts! The one-legged squat, is that sort of a squat in reverse? So you’re using your leg to pull down rather than lower down? I’ve got to be honest, any type of one-legged squat sounds hard!

    Morning/evening all,

My my you SHers like a chin wag πŸ˜‰
Seriously, it’s lovely to wake up and have lots of interesting posts to read, so much useful information, especially as I need to have a fasting cholesterol tesy and was thinking of asking for my blood glucose level to be looked at as a matter of interest.

I managed a food free FD yesterday with a splash of milk in two early morning mugs of tea and two coffees with a bigger splash, plus lots of water and mint tea. I was feeling really sorry for myself by 8pm as I hate not eating but I had two very late nights on Sun and Mon so was ready for my bed by 9.45.
Of course I’m not hungry this morning and feel fine ☺

I’m doing B2B tomorrow and Friday and will try to make at least one of those days food free.
I go to Rome on Saturday and the plane lands at 4pm so I’m planning on not breaking my fast until Saturday night dinner in a nice Italian restaurant 🍝🍷

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Dear Amazon
I go to Rome on Saturday and the plane lands at 4pm so I’m planning on not breaking my fast until Saturday night dinner in a nice Italian restaurant
how wonderful to read your post tonight I really feel this forum connects everyone to everything what a fantastic bonus to add to this journey and way of life have an amazing time live life and have fun..
‘Everything will be alright in the end so if it is not alright it is not the end.’
    Peace RT

    RT 😎

Amazon, have a wonderful time in Rome. πŸ·πŸ·πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Purple, please thank the human pincushion for his travails on my behalf. 😳😳

Happy, the doctor didn’t make an appointment, and nor did I. We have private pathology collection centres that you can turn up to on spec. Given this morning’s event, I have now made an appointment for 7.30 am on Tuesday. These centres bulk bill Medicare, that is, the taxpayer. The government sets the rates for each service provided. I paid for my bone scan, but at a subsidised rate. I have been given a sign on and will be able to look at the scans online within 24 hours. My doctor receives it online.

Hi Purple and RT, Have reached 7 pm without a morsel of food passing my lips. Making fresh vegetable soup to eat in 30 minutes time with a few flakes of Parmesan.

    Cheers, all. Bay 🌺🌺

Thanks, Nama and everyone else who has contributed. My niece the doc tells me she is going to research it and will let me know. She thinks the ketones and water levels may have something to do with it.

Nama, you reference to comparing with the norm rings a bell. Have fun in Jamison. πŸ‘―πŸ‘―πŸ·πŸ·πŸŒΆπŸŒΆ

    Top work Bay.
I’ve just eaten a bowl of veg, a little mince and Slendier angel hair noodles. It was the easiest fast I’ve ever done and would happily have not eaten, but had the meat out and my mate would have been disappointed.
Next one Friday, after another good “re-feed” day in between. P

    Hi Fters

Wednesday I see is fast day in Australia.
Good on you Bay for not a single morselbof food. It’s 11am in France and a fast day. I am hungry already as I didn’t eat much yesterday. But a bottle of fizzy water seems to be a temporary reprieve. It’s a 400 cal day.

The BSD is a Mediterranean WOE, Jojo. There are a lot of quite involved recipes in the book, but it is useful for portion control. I do not follow slavishly and my one attempt at making crackers with chickpea flour were not worth the bother. I like cooking anyway, but in the end I prefer food which tastes of the raw ingredients too.

One irony of Italian food(which I would have thought is the epitome of Mediterranean food) for us is that there are a lot of high GI foods. Breakfast of brioche/croissants is high GI, dinner with pasta is high GI, the bread and pizza are often very ‘white’. Yes there are a lot of veges and cheese, but I am a bit surprised by the ordinary food there. The earth around Rome is highly fertile and the fennil root, capsicum and artichokes are oh so delicious! Good olive oil is abundant, but it’s not all good as everywhere.
Interesting to hear your experience, Amazon.
We go back to Rome on 3 June. I am missing my grandies. However, we have travel scales now which will be in Rome too! The last stay of 3 weeks caused us some havoc.
Lovely day today! Is this spring?
    Happy fasting
    Wiwi

That is great work Bay you are a leader and a credit to you and an inspiration to the rest of us fast trackers
When asked what surprised him about humanity the most, the Dalai Lama replied:

β€œMan. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

    Peace RT

Wi, the Italians dunk their bread in vinegar (lessens the insulin spike) and the traditional Mediterranean societies with the most successful health outcomes were Greek Orthodox. They fast once a week.
Dr M was not promoting modern carb heavy Mediterranean food at the BSD booklaunch we went to. More the use of fresh healthy veg, lots of fibre to steady insulin spikes. These days, what most Mediterranean’s eat doesn’t really cut it, does it?
I’ll bet you miss your little Romans, but it’s not far away from France. Lucky you. P

The contents of the fridge meant leftover roast lamb and the contents of the veg drawer. It is safely stashed in the freezer.
I am with my family today as it is a year since my brother died. We are going out for lunch and raising a glass to him, hence no fast today.
