  • Pass some layers over to me, I cant get warm today!! LOL at the blowing up your car tyres, sounds just like me, its a major event when I actually have to do that!! If at all possible, I will make it a weekend so my other half can do it for me 😛

    Afternoon All…

Being thoughtful has gone out the window….toasted teacake and caramel shortbread, cup of tea……and a meal tonight…just a straight meal…no puddings…

Very mild here but Met Office e-mail just arrived it says …midnight Friday to Saturday 6 pm, expect ice and snow showers for us.

    DF and Pseu…
    Keep going…about half way through …keep warm…

    MStar…
A move before Xmas…all exciting but stressful….sister moves tomorrow, two houses into one…hope it’s a good idea for her, I can see trouble a head…

I am sure everything will be fine…keep calm…

    Jean x

DF & Pseudo- hope you’re doing okay… the next couple of hours are always the worst for me! Had soup lunchtime today to get warm & keep me going, different soup planned for tonight. Had a better visit with my Home-Start family this week, another trip to the park, but much running about, so got some exercise as well!
Jean- teacake & shortbread made my mouth water!
Mstar- hope the move goes well- I love moving, I’ll come & help you pack!! I’m very good at it… Been here for 11 years- that’s way longer than we’ve lived anywhere else!
Hope we can be strong this evening! Is it a mass fast tomorrow, Thursday seems a popular one? I might see if the scales have shifted tomorrow & if not do a B2B!

I’ve just decided to have a slim-a-soup for a late lunch… I don’t recommend the chicken and leek one, it’s odd.
It’a after about 8 I start struggling, so I’ve got a while yet. I’ve got a food shop to pick up on the way home – including all the ingredients for the cashew loaf. Looking at the instructions, how do you go about crushing the cashews?

I used the mini food processor I’ve got- or a blender will do. If you haven’t got anything like that I guess you could just chop them finely.

    Hi all.
Just home from the specialist vet. Old dog has lost none of his personality or determination, but he’s not back up on his back legs yet without help from a sling. Nice to have an absolutely non-critical appreciation of my cooking back in the house!

FD tomorrow…sorry, i’Ve missed today completely so don’t know who’s on and who’s off.

    Catch you in the morning.

    Mx

    Morning all!
Feeling strong at the moment, so think I will join the Thursday fast!
Minols- glad that your dog is on the mend & hope that he won’t need the sling much longer. Hope that your insured as well?
Christmas decs going up in our house today!

    Morning!

Hedgehogs, so glad your joining the fast today 🙂 Like it when a lot of us join!!

My FD went okay yesterday, so day 2 of B2B for me. This one may be a bit more difficult, lots of self control needed!

I can’t believe I’m sat here at my desk at work, and when I look outside its still so dark, like the middle of the night! I really can’t wait for summer 🙂

    Back later xx

    Morning All..
A very dark morning.. a sleepy girl still in bed .. Steve up awaiting the garage door man to measure..

Must move shortly feel guilty.. cup of tea in bed lol..

A good concert last night the children did really well.. they had full size ( bigger than them) really large puppets quiet amazing..swaying walking through the hall to the stage showing the nativity scene.

    FD for us as usual

    Minols..
Good news on your dog.. hope he picks up..he sounds like Steve his legs really bad at the moment.. a sling.. umm

    Hedgehog…
Deck the halls.. have a nice time I think quite relaxing…

    DF..
At work.. these mornings are bad for the early risers.. I used to hate dark mornings and returning on dark nights..

Speak later..A good to today everybody 😀

    Jean x

FD today week 3 over. Very stormy. Second Xmas dinner last night down in Rowlands Castle, very nice. Still a few tables in the office here decked with all the Xmas goodies you can imagine. Trying to turn off my personal mince pie tracker….Have a great day ..

    Mstar…
Well done…I like the ‘mince pie radar is turned off’…A few of us could do with a radar..😂…..Oooo a meal at a castle ‘do’ a posh venue ours were never exciting, they got worse and worse..flat…

Hope the packing has started or will it be full on over the weekend…

We have another eating day Friday visiting family around Manchester area….then can settle into our slow mode…maybe one other day…

    Jean x

    Morning everyone

Just sticking my head around the door to say hi. Managed a liquid fast yesterday, plus a couple of prunes. At present I’ve got more goods in transit than Santa, need to up the fluid intake.

Mstar good luck with the packing, this talk of moving puts me in a spin, only ever moved 3 times in my life and lived in the same house for 21 years. Perhaps that’s why I have so much ‘stuff’.

Down 0.7lb this morning from last week, but not my official weigh-in day. Managing to get into a size 12 now pretty much across the board, though another 5lb to lose to get me into a healthy BMI.

Minols, glad the dog is back home and hope the sling is only a temporary measure.

It’s lovely to keep up to date with all the ‘chat’, I’ll try to pop back at the weekend.

    Lynne x

    Lynne…
Well done on your liquid fast ..I have never thought of doing one yet….0.7 lbs is going in the right direction…my scales only give me it pounds….must look carefully next time I buy but these are quite new yet..

Keep your chin up…speak at the weekend …

    Weigh in tomorrow for us….😬

    Jean x

Morning all. Going to have a quiet day at home with the old dog. Of course, there are a million things I could be doing given we’ve got guests coming in a week’s time, but whether I’ll do anything but mooch about is debatable! I suppose all in all, to have a pottering about day isn’t a bad thing. It’s a FD but I don’t think I’ve ever done one on a day like this, so we’ll see how I go! The most important thing is to try and second guess if the dog needs out, and get him there in time! Currently snoring away, so I’m taking that as a sign he doesn’t need out!

    Catch you later.

    Mx

    Morning all.

Was on track for my FD yesterday, but then caved before bed and ate a lot of yoghurt from the big tub I had bought. I’m really struggling with FDs this month, an annoying part of me keeps thinking ‘it’s nearly Christmas, relax.’ It’s not nearly Christmas, it’s only the 7th!

I desperately need a few days off and a bit of a break. I’m happy with the way Christmas falls this year that I’ll get four days off in a row without having to wheedle any holidays (though I might still wheedle a day or two). Whenever I ask for holiday time it’s like I’m being a pain.

Might put the trimmings up tomorrow night.

FD going OK …needing a cuppa…a computer day for both of us…but my computer has been faffing up-dating for nearly two hours…a pain in the bum!

Steve has now run out of colour ink..only bought two days ago…shops later possibly…umm

Tea was awful now making a coffee….

Keep strong everyone..is Bovril on the go….

    Jean x

Not Bovril… I’ve just had half a mug of left over chorizo soup…yum! Might make some more up for later…the boys love it, too.

Meanwhile the old dlg – having stirred himself to lick out the tub has fallen back to sleep again, so I’m putting off takin ghim out until later.

Luxoriously wasted the morning by falling asleep over a book – haven’t had the chance to do that in years -8 years, I think! But now should probably go and at least do some sewing…

    Mx

    Minols…
Why not have a relaxing day, a book, a sleep and a bit of sewing…what more could you be doing…😂

Glad the toilet duty is going well…as all men they sleep a lot!

    Jean x

It is my FD and my boss has just put a tub of Heroes on my desk as “its the most central point”… Got caramels, fudge and the creme egg thing staring at me shouting “EAT ME”.
    Must resist!

    Rose…
    NOOOOOOOOOOO

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO

    MOVE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE……

Good luck keep strong…..come and join us…..

    Jean x

Ooo, I’ve been sent home early because the water needs to be turned off. Glad this isn’t an FD or I’d be struggling, but now it means I can go home and cook a proper dinner.

Did you manage to resist the chocs, Rose?

Ooooh Heroes- don’t like the crème egg ones, nor the fudge, but would happily scoff the rest for you Rose. That is so not fair, having them so close if you’re trying to be good…
Pseudo- eating yoghurt doesn’t sound too bad… can’t have been 500 cals! And more tempting than your broccoli binge!! Have a nice dinner tonight & make the most of a little extra time off!
Minols- give your dog a hug from me! Thinking about having to use a makeshift sling for my old lady dog- she’s struggling to get out the back door now… Sewing on a FD though- that’s the ultimate torture!!
DF- how’s it going? Did you get a walk or has ‘Storm Caroline’ put paid to that?
Lynn- thinking of you- not sure if you’re reading all the posts, but sending you a hug if you are…
Jean- sadly putting up the Christmas decs is not relaxing in our house! Started off fine, finished fine, but imbetween the lights weren’t working & nor did any of the spare bulbs, so had to go out & buy new ones- chose a long set which were in a loop and very tangled… hubby got pretty antsy, patience is not one of his strengths… even the dog decided she’s be better off in the cupboard! All done now though & looking lovely! Bought a jam doughnut for son to ‘experience’ when he gets home from school- they’re from an award winning bakery near us, far better than supermarket ones… managed to just buy one for him & nothing for me (nor for grumpy hubby!!) Will see what he thinks of it soon…

    Hello

Not had a great couple of days. Away with work for a few days, started off ok but deteriorated as the week has gone on. I know where I go wrong, not planning meals then getting so hungry and eating the wrong things. Also got invited out for dinner one night which was lovely but not planned.

Enforced fast day today, just too busy running from meeting to meeting and then for train home so maybe all will not be lost.

I think your Woof likes being waited on by his mum Minols, but enjoy the cosy day with him.

Also feeling the pain of the office sweets and snacks. Today been ok. But the rest of the week has been hard to avoid.

    Can’t wait to get home

Cakey- hope you survive the journey home, without being tempted…
I have stooped to a new low in the tasting/ picking while I cook- I’ve tried a new playdough recipe this afternoon; marshmallow playdough! Very edible- just marshmallows, coconut oil & cornflour, so actually quite tasty! Am visiting a friend to look after her daughter tomorrow, so hopefully it will still be stretchy (& not eaten!) by then!!
Apart from a little taster, I have been good, & looking forward to some more soup shortly!

Finished dinner now so that’s us for the day…really enjoyed it bacon egg and tomato..

We both were on the computer most of the day so it’s passed without much thought…stressful at times but survived…We have both been writing a book for 8 years to do with our family tree…I am pleased to say it’s now finished…..one read over on Saturday and it can go to printers after Xmas ..my children have been very interested so I will have 5 printed for my grandchildren and one for me.

Steve has also finished his and he has been printing out too, his children are not too bothered so he has been printing it out to give them a copy each.

Weigh in tomorrow 😬eaten a few bits and pieces extra…

    Pseu…
Lovely to have a few extra hours off…😀

    Hedgehog…
Hope your decorations look lovely…hope hubbys calmed down…lol…ooo a jam doughnut..I like most things…there the problem lies…..getting itchy fingers I am making a few more things for Xmas, I have to wait another week..as with fresh cream and a two week shelf life for them….chocolate truffles, chocolate covered marzipan inside dates, and icecream…all new to me…ummm..hoping they work out…

Edible play dough…that’s a new one…. hope you have some left…

    Cakey Wakey…
It’s hard out of your comfort zone…just do your best….it must be a nightmare having all office sweets about, the thing is, they are usually not the ones you would eat normally but do because they are there….

    Rose…
    Did you manage?

    Minols…
What did you end up doing?….some sewing….

    Jean x

Hi Jena – did do sewing…but think I need to go and re-work it. Still, pretty chilled nearly day off! Out in a minute to a meeting, and the OH will take over dog duty for the evening.

    hope everyone survives the evening.
    Mx

    Friday at last 🙂

Its been a rough week getting through FD’s for me, not sure what’s going on, but I’ll have to try harder next week for sure! I’ve been stressed out with traffic every day and been so cold too. I’m making excuses I know, but its just been .. harder this week??

2 more weeks to work till Christmas break .. think I’m ready for that!

Have a great day everyone, good luck to anyone fasting, hope your stronger than I’ve been lol

    xx

The cold’s got to me too, DF! I would hate to have a long drive to work these days, and in the dark as well, so I feel for you! There’s Christmas food about everywhere too, in shops, adverts…
I did well most of yesterday- slipped slightly late evening when both boys started raiding the cupboards, getting biscuits & chocolate out- I had a taster bit it won’t have taken me over 500cals…
Jean- were you having a meal out today? Have a nice time! I often make truffles or different chocolate things, but probably will try to avoid that this year! Maybe just some biscuits for friends…

I’ve been struggling with them too, both of my FDs this week have been over 500. I second the idea of the cold and dark, combined with all the festive cosy ads and foods… pretty hard to resist.
I polished off the small bottle of Baileys I bought last night and hadn’t bought a replacement deliberately, but I’m planning to put up the tree this weekend, and it doesn’t seem right doing it without a Baileys hot chocolate. Might have to pick up a bottle on the way home.

    VERY cold this morning!

    Morning All..
On road and phone..really cold and we are heading I think to snow ❄️❄️

We have managed to stay the same… me only just..

    Have a good day all… bouncing about a bit..lol

    Keep warm

    Jean x

NFD today. Struggled to stay under 600 yesterday. Still no gym and this head cold persists. UP 300 grams to 102.7kg Will start packing Sunday, oh dear….

Hi all – happy to report that the stubborn-ness of the old dog is intact! Only supposed to be out to do his business either in the back garden or the wee bit of grass down the path to the park…but no, we normally go all the way to the park so that’s where we’re going! There are sniffs to catch up on, local news to be scented out. I managed to keep him to just the trees and scrub land at the edge of the field, but part of that was because the harness I have to use to help support his back legs is actually quite hard work. Imagine a wilful, full size puppet dog with an inexpert puppeteer…and you’ve got the picture of me and the old dog heading down the slight slope and panting when we come back up! (marionette-type puppet, I should stress, not the hand up the bum glove puppet!)

NFD today, but there’s some lovely pea and ham soup leftover in the kitchen here at the office, as I was at home yesterday, so that’s what I’m tucking in to today!

Might even walk on my visits today – swithering between going home and picking up the car as it’s quicker, or trusting that the old dog is actually alright just sleeping away the door as per his usual habit.

    Mx

Have you had much snow Minols? My friend showed me pics of her family’s home in Aberdeenshire with lots, I know thats further north than you though. Glad the doggy is enjoying his walkies- mine managed 25m from home today, & changed her mind!! Takes me longer to get hat, scarf, gloves, coat, doggy bags phone for emergencies & boots on than we were out!! Hope you’ve enjoyed the soup- I’ve managed a low day today.
Mstar- hope your cold improves soon, happy packing!
Jean- hope you’ve had a good day & avoided the white stuff!
    Pseudo- Baileys, yum!

Freezing cold, but no snow. we don’t often get it at home…reasonably close to water helps I think.

Ate junk for lunch so only feeding the others tonight after the boy’s shinty training. Off for the next 24 hours…ahhh so looking forward to it!

    Mx

    Evening Girls and Boys…

What a long day on the road at 8.30 this morning just got in 12 hours later…unfortunately lots to eat in all directions but I expected it…hard when visiting two lots of families ..

We had a lovely meal out tonight with Steve’s friend our best man…..feeling quite stuffed really..

No snow but quite a few cars with a snow topping…..Lots of excitement in Louisiana a few days ago they was at 27 degrees in the day…this morning SNOW…..they never never have snow..some little people would have been very excited…..schools closed for the day..😀

    Hedgehog…
Do your truffles turn out ok? Worth the effort..or not…….Have you ever made soda bread?

    Pseu..
Steve bought me a bottle of Baileys for over Xmas..looking forward to that one…lol

    Minols..
It sounds hard work the harness and dog walking..poor little thing….enjoy your weekend off…😀

    Definitely a low day tomorrow…

    Jean x

    Morning All…

Brrrrrrr it’s so cold this morning…just fed the birds..

In the shower this morning re doing my silicone in all the corners and edges…the black mould starts growing and I don’t like it …it’s lifting the silicone off..a new idea this morning to jet wash around the wet room to clean it all instead of scrubbing…water everywhere but gently does it…glad it’s only about twice a year although I must have done it better last time as it’s about 9 months…

Hungry this morning…how can you be when stuffing your face yesterday…I think your body gets food and then needs more food….well it’s an unlucky day today as it’s a low day!..Tough!

All the snow is a day late for us..it looks like snowman building day Sunday…might get wrapped up and go for a walk see how the day pans out….

    Mstar…
Hope you are feeling better….lots of packing to be done….

    Minols..
Hope the fluffy one is improving….

    Kay..
Are you with us…don’t go off the boil ….Xmas is coming….

    Lynne…
Hope you and the girls are looking after each other..💕💕💕

    Jean x

All very quiet today is everybody Christmas shopping….

Three hours preparing the shower…..grouting later tonight…everything has to dry for tomorrow morning to re silicone again…knees a bit sore with kneeling…

A couple of parcels to wrap then I can tidy the back bedroom, get it ship shape again….

    Have a good weekend everybody

    Jean x

    Evening all!
Jean glad you had a good day yesterday- maybe you’ve burnt some of those calories off doing all the work in your shower today!!
Minols- hope that you’ve had a good, restful day?
Pseudo- have you been up to much today, or were you hung over from too much Baileys?!
We were out early taking youngest son to a training day at army cadets, did a food shop, then popped into town for a couple of pressies (& have since remembered I haven’t got presents for my brother & SIL- how could I have forgotten that!! Usually vouchers for them, so not a problem!) After that visited FIL in his care home, did all his Christmas cards with him to send out, but he won’t remember we’ve done it, so will probably still worry that he’s not done them!) Then popped into my parents’ this afternoon as another Aunt is staying with them this weekend.
Scales going in the right direction this morning!
Hope you’re all well, if you want snow I hope that you have lots, if you have to drive & don’t want it then I hope it blows on by!

    Hedgehog….
    I have been a lonely girl today..☹️..nobody talking…

You sound as if you have been real busy going in all directions…busy time for everyone…getting yourself organised and FIL as well..

Glad on the scales moving down for you…we are a bit stable this week….

I thought we were having loads of snow tomorrow but I don’t think much for us now…good I suppose..

Feel really tired been on the go all day…shower ready for silicone first thing in the morning 24 hours to dry….worse thing having to wash instead of a shower but it’s already looking much better….

    Have a rest yourself tonight…I shall..lol

    Jean x

    Morning All…

A brrrr day but no snow…gone further south of us….

Finish the shower off this morning and then a quiet day, bum hurting and backs of legs so so very tired last night…Steve can’t kneel so it’s up to me on this one…the jet wash didn’t work but worth a try….looks so much better even now….

So much moving yesterday got to nearly 16,000 (steps)( movement)…a busy day….seeing I was in a 7’ square…lol

Hoping everyone’s OK and enjoying them selves….we are having a lovely full Sunday dinner with wine then we will be fasting tomorrow…

Keep safe in snow and ice if it’s about where you are….

    Jean x

Morning! Yukkity yuk here! Started off raining first thing, now really heavy snow, hopefully won’t lay because of the rain- eldest working today so he’ll have to drive home in it later, more worrying for me!
I’m planning to have a FD, but feeling pretty hungry already! Jean, you’re so right about feeling hungrier if you eat more. We had some chocolate last night as hubby could actually taste something (he has chronic sinus problems so mostly can’t taste anything), and I wake up straight away feeling hungry! Not easy in the cold either…
Need to get cracking decorating the Christmas cakes later, if I can escape from the hot water bottle & blanket!!
Everyone else okay- hope you’re all busy with fun things!

    Hedgehog…
Good luck with your cake decorating…hoping the snows not too bad for your son later..it’s a worry if he hasn’t drove in snow…

My daughter will be panicking ..her son whizzed off in the ice the other day far too fast..no snow but sky looks heavy and dark…

    Hope the fasting goes well…

    Jean x

    Hi Jean and all

Thought I’d pop in and say hello. It’s been a long time since I was on here. I only know you of the old days Jean and am glad to see you’re still doing well with Steve. I can tell you I am at target (10st 12lbs) which is great but think I’ll go down to 10st 7lbs for the summer, after all why leave a job half done! At 5ft 7ins I think that will do for an old girl of 66!!!

Well it took over 2 years to get here, but here I am, cheekbones and all!

Good luck all of you, keep at it, it’s so worth it.

    x Bev

    Hi Beverley…

Nice to have you pop by…good you are steady and maintaining …I got to goal and moved it on by another 7 lbs…so would really like to get my last 6 pounds off now over the next year…we have been two years this time although we got it all off a few years ago then put back on due to Steve’s two partial knee replacements.

This last year maintaining up and down…but I am quite happy really..just a little more…Steve struggling due to medication but we will get him there…we are both 69 early next year but generally health wise OK just usual aches and pains …

Take Care and have a lovely Christmas….pop by and let us know how you are doing…

    Jean x

Hi Beverly- good to hear a success story!
Jean- hope you’re not suffering aches etc for having to do the shower!
Son got safely home- thankfully it had cleared by then, but apart from selling one car, he spent the day pushing cars for stuck motorists- they’re right by a roundabout, which is on a slope & loads of people were having problems! (including one elderly couple towing their caravan!?!) Hope your grandson doesn’t have any more accidents!
Cake decorating went okay, not finished yet though! Might have gone a bit over the 500cals today, just got so cold & hungry I had to have something lunch time. Might do a B2B tomorrow if I can as that’ll fit in better with the rest of the week.

    Hedgehog…
Glad your days gone well…and cakes nearly decorated…..I am aching and tired but all finished now…we have had a good eating Sunday so looking forward to fasting tomorrow…

Grandson was only whizzing in the ice going too fast.. no accidents…tomorrow he is driving about 150 miles into the snow to Telford …he won’t be told…he has not driven in snow…worried daughter…

Your son has been busy he needs brownie points all the help he’s given..😀

    Jean x

    **Wave**
Still going….but thats with eating and not 5:2 and losing weight! Too scared to weigh myself:-O

My head is all over the place. Some will remember this time last year, I had to move house, well our current tenancy runs out in a month and we really dont want to pay up front for another 6 months and be tied here. We havent really settled here and the house is expensive considering it needs things doing. We arent in full time employment, well Im not working at all, so we cant revert to paying monthly. So….we are seeing if there is anything else out there, if so, we will give notice next week and move in January!

Originally, when we knew Ellie (our dog) had cancer, we figured we would stay here and our next move would be just me and neil, but, in a good way, shes still with us 12 months down the line! So its hard to know what to do. Obviously renting would be easier without having to restrict ourselves to dog friendly landlords, but I would much rather have her with us and have less choice!

So Ellie now has a large tumour right over her eye, which Im hoping will shrink and go like her last one but the steroids dont seem to be stalling things unfortunately and her skin is quite inflamed in places. But, one day at a time, and cherish every day.

I also had some bad news. My eldest nephew (36) has been having chemo as he hheas bowel cancer and lung secondaries. A small lump has been shrunk in 1 lung but the 2 in other lung have grown, so they have switched treatment and he has started his 3rd 6 month regime. He is still working and has just celebrated his 1 year wedding anniversary and remains upbeat, so its not all gloom. Just staying hopefull. What will be will be, but it is a lesson in making the most of our lives.

So I have been not bothered about my weight…..however….Im feeling uncomfortable so want to be a bit happier in my body, which will help my mental health.

So, after that waffle, Im fasting tomorrow!!

Sorry, Ive not caught up with previous posts but hope everyone is ok x

    Morning all,

I’m fasting today. I really need to 🙁

I’ll be back later, I need to catch up on posts.

    xx

    Good morning everyone!
Kay- wave back to you! Hope that you can find somewhere nice to rent with Ellie if you have to… very unsettling. And prayers for your nephew too, so young and at such a good stage in his life… Stay strong for your fast today!
Jean hope that you have a good fasting day too!
I had a small breakfast as needed to take painkillers, but then with soup tonight I’ll be under the 500- if I can resist as temptations- no baking today thankfully! Feel quite festive though so feel we should be starting on Christmas eating, need to get rid of those thoughts!
DF, Minols, Pseudo, Mstar, Cakey, Rose… anyone else fasting today? Hope you’re all well!

    Morning everyone

We had a dusting of snow yesterday, but nothing much. Hope everyone stays safe in this icy weather, such a worry when young drivers encounter it for the first time, usually with too much confidence.

Kay, lovely to hear from you. So sorry to hear about your nephew, and delighted he has such a positive attitude. I’m sure it’s your love and determination which has carried Ellie over the last year, good luck with the housing decisions.

Jean, I’ve been looking at sealant around the windows which needs doing, but not as difficult as cramped in the shower room.

Think I may join you all for a ‘Mass Fast’ today. A bag of nuts has worked wonders on goods in transit (sorry if TMI), so no excuses now. Up 1lb from the middle of last week, but a good FD should see that one gone and hopefully a bit more. Lots of running around today so plenty to keep my mind off food.

    Good luck everyone.

    Lynne x
