  • Yes I think you’re right Lotus, we could all be a bit silly given free rein, BUT WE KNOW BETTER, so I doubt I’ll be doing much different except not counting on NFD, actually I don’t think GG does either. Anyway, I’ll give it a try. If I find the “free rein” is proving to much temptation, I’ll just go back to counting, so much for executive decision! 🙂 ..CG xxx

So many posts to read, think I’ll just hit the highlights 🙂

CG brave decision and the right one for you I’m sure. I realised early on that the scales and tape measure would foul me up so I just try and weigh in on Friday with the majority of ADers. Also I often skip tracking diligently my TDEE because, as you say (I think) Mr M doesn’t mention it too much and part of this WOL is not feeling hounded and deprived. As long as you don’t abandon us we’re happy!

Welcome all the newbies, encouragement and support is invaluable and you will find plenty here.

Poor Fit’s got a sore head and Up in a veritable heat wave no less. Enjoy your time with your baby boy and I still say, go for the holiday experience, normal happens at home 🙂

Lost the plot over the weekend …. definitely NOT weighing in till Friday!
Off to have another Bonox, trying for a liquid day til dinner which is a WW’s pumpkin and ricotta Cannelloni with other green veg. The dinner is only 270 cals and very tasty and filling. Green veg extra of course.

YumYum – LOL – I read your post as saying…..”off to have another Botox!!

CG – Congrats on reaching that point where you feel happy with yourself. If you keep up with the basic WOL I’m sure you will achieve that final 5kg. As SJ said, being content is a pretty good spot to be in. Well done.

Yumyum, no way am I leaving you, this is my life line 🙂
Been on the web most arvo looking at term deposit interest rates, grgrgr, was paying 19% when buying my home, now have a nice nest egg, no Bl .. Return! As if the banks are going broke with their millions of $ profits! …..just my rant for the day! I know it’s good if you’re young buying a home but my generation just copped it both ends on the spectrum!
Anyway, might be my fast altering my mood, yet I’m laughing at myself (as usual) ranting over something we have no control over.
Chicken and rattouli tonight, forgoing the mushies as I thawed it last night, and forgot, think I need a carer lately!
    Happy days 😆 CG xxxxx
P.s. CM, I read yumyums post the same, another giggle! 🙂

WELCOME RAVEN 3-The FD’S will get easier… stick to the 5:2 way and you will not go wrong… The team will be with you all the way.
CG- poor love… I have done the same and forgotten the wallet . I’m 5 min from the shops …you longer..
FATINA- Welcome back all the best with “THE MASTERS”
FIT- Berroca, plenty of water and panadol…we have all been there ,done that. Take care.
DONIT- We will lose that 2kgs in no time… I did the same and put it on over 2 wks . Our Aussie Determination will get us back on track in no time.
UP- so lucky that you did not become ill… the worst food posioning is from seafood. Hope the dessert was devine!
LOTUS- Great words of wisdom… thank you for sharing the pharses.
Its week 29 or 6mths of 5:2 for me.I am still happy with my loss of 8kgs (SW was 82.2kgs)even though I have been on a plateau for 5wks at 73kgs until I overindulged for 2 wks and went up to 75kgs. This is still working for me.
I stopped counting calories after 3mths of 5:2 had counted before…..it was not for me. Its teaching yourself to be aware of your food choices and portions.
As I have written before…. its all in the 4 “P’s” PLANNING, PREPARATION,PATIENCE AND PERSISTANCE which will work every time.
CG is totally right when she writes to advise us…”YOU ARE AN INDIVIDUAL, DON’T GAUGE YOUR LOSS BY OTHERS”…. GO GALxxxxx

Wow CG awesome decision methinks. And I think you’re right – if you feel comfortable in your own skin then now is the time to stop weighing, measuring & counting and just enjoy it. Of course as you’ve said you’re going to mindfully enjoy it, not just go silly! As I’ve said before I do still mull over not counting my TDEE myself at times. Don’t want 5:2 to just turn into another diet that destroys your soul. However for now because I still have so much to lose & my weight loss is not fast I’ll keep doing it some of the time. Certainly don’t do it every day by any means. When you’re fairly new like me it does teach you a lot though like Wow my dinner really had THAT many calories. Boy won’t do that again… sort of stuff. But you’re experienced at all that now CG & can trust yourself to dish up healthy, small portion meals without checking.
GG really do like your 4 P’s and you’re so right to not gauge our losses by others. Everyone’s journey is unique to them even though we all follow 5:2. My weight loss is usually slow and I’m fine with that so long as I’m heading down.
Ha I read YY’s word as Botox too! We’ve all got botox on the brain!
So onto PLANNING PREPARATION PATIENCE AND PERSISTENCE for this week. I like it!! Another successful FD down & one more Thursday before weigh-in. suejen

I think I need a new scle. I must admit the one I have was rarely used and a cheap one at best. Weighed myself after the first two FD just to see and it aper stat I weigh I Lb more. ( Sorry, I am in Portland Oregon, in the U.S. I didn’t do this just for weight loss and know that scales can be undependable and have lived most of my life not weighing myself.
I think I will stick to the measuring tape for the next month.
Not sure how I will work this into my life. May have to do a weekend neat for sure as I have a rather stressful job and am reluctant to make it more so. Perhaps I will learn that I can do this food restriction at any time. Have to ween myself off the emotional relationship with food.
Hope you all have a glorious week of fasting and taking good care of yourselves. I have devoted myself to the concept that I can repair much of what ails me.
    Toodles

    Hi All!
I’m feeling much better today – just a bit sheepish! Thanks everyone for the sympathy…GG, did try the panadol but they just came right back up (sorry if that TMI!). Just had to wait it out and drink as much water as I could without upsetting my stomach. You’d think I’d be old enough now to know better..but there ya go, I’m only human after all!!!
Welcome Raven – yes this way of life (wol) gets easier and easier, we don’t call it a diet, and you will feel much better about your eating patterns and food choices as you get more and more used to it. It is a slow process, not a quick fix, but it does work, so stick with it and us and you won’t go far wrong.
Up – another gorgeous day here today, 18 degrees! Whoopee! Even got out and about to enjoy it with my two dotie daughters – life is good 🙂
CG, Lotus, Sue, CM and all others (I can’t go back a page to check) – you are so right about finding the best way for each of us as individuals to make this work. When you are experienced and comfortable with this method, there is no reason to keep counting cals. We all know when we feel good and also what to do if that feeling is not there anymore. I know I have to keep an eye on my TDEE, as that was my downfall before and I don’t feel confident enough to stop counting just yet, but I’m sure that day will come.
Best of luck to all for the week ahead, fasting, weighing-in or just ordinary days and special family time. Go Aussie Determinators!!!

A very Good Morning to all!!!
I am back and oh so happy to read good news stories about all the weight losses. So, congratulations one and all for sustaining this and achieving the losses!!!!

    CG, WOW…….. Down to 75k , that’s Awesomeeeeee……
And a big hello to all regulars:- Lotus, uptight, Foxy, suejen, Fitt, Doggy, YY and GG (my favorite- sorry I am biased 🙂 )

Ok, so my 5 week holiday was amazing. I visited many places in India and also went to Dubai for a week which was amazing. However coming back to this cold Melbourne weather is little difficult……. I went on holidays thinking that I will fast atleast once a week n try to eat sensibly. BOY, WAS I WRONG????? Absolutely YES!!!!!!

In 5 weeks, i ate like a pig everyday n drank alcohol like a fish…… All in all, i had an amazing holiday full of fun, food, drinks n friends & relatives.
Came back home n weighed myself first thing as it was on my mind always!!!! Up by 3 kilos. And this I know is just not bloat, its actual weight that I gained in 5 weeks. But no regrets as I enjoyed my time away and our 5:2 is still here for me….. So, i start from Today snd will fast today…. Honestly I am a bit scared if I will be able to pull it off again or not…. But with Aussie Determination, I am sure I will!!!!
When I went for holidays my weight was 69.5 kgs, and now I weigh 72.5 kgs….. My ultimate goal is to get down to 63 kgs and that means almost 10 kilos…… It may take me 6 or even 8 or 10 months to get to my goal weight, but I know we all have done it before and will do it again!!!!!

And Yes, a big Thanks to all members of AUSSIE DETERMINATION to stand by me when i needed helo and support most. This means a lot to me and I am so glad to have found this treasure……

Enough of my long post now and Let’s rock n roll again!!!

Welcome back Fatbuster!!! You had a great time in India and Dubai looks like 🙂 hope your family is well and proud of you to have achieved so much! We are, so good on you 🙂 now, with your Ausfie Determination, you can start again, I am exactly in the same place as you – 75 kilos ( yo-yo between 75 – 76), and goal weight 63 kilos. Let’s support each other and all other fantastic ADers 🙂

Good morning team and FB A HUGE WELCOME HOME.I’m so glad you had a lovely holiday, I’d love to know the reaction of your Mum and sister when they saw the new skinny you 🙂 you sound like you had a wonderful CONFIDENT time with them. Golly 72k is nothing to be ashamed of after such a full on time either, be proud my friend, it shows how flexible 5:2 is. You may have a few hiccups getting back in gear, as we all did after Xmas, but as always, we are here for you and YOU CAN DO IT.
Happy fast day do any members fasting today. With the colder weather snap we are experiencing, keep the hot fluids up, dress for the weather, we will feel it more as we have less padding than we used to.
Not fasting today? Then healthy food choices and portion control team? Don’t be too hard on yourself, there is no time line you are sticking to, this is LIFE, it will happen in due course.
Most of us are our own worst enemies, it’s time to make friends! 🙂 have a lovely day …CG xxx

Raven, it does take time to adjust, but get your mind set right. Scales really are a must for your weekly weigh in as well as the tape measure. Once you have done a few fasts, you find they DO fit into your life style. Being at work is often easier than being at home around temptation. Taking carrot sticks for nibbles, a tuna salad or a bit if chicken breast cut up in a salad is very easy, even soup in a mug if you are able to heat it. A stir fry for dinner with mainly veg and a small piece of protein is very quick and easy…and there is a no fuss fast day. Week ends introduce social activities, friends, drinks, and other temptations. Doing back to back, for a beginner is quite difficult. I wish you luck, YOU CAN DO IT, once you see how easy, planning makes, you’ll not put obstacles in your way of thinking. We are here for you…CG xxx

Hi Fit, just remember what fun you had, that’s a memory worth keeping….not the day after 🙂 we have all been there haha, “never again” it’s all behind you now, have a lovely day CG xxx 🙂

    Hello Everyone,

I want to thank you all for the extra “health issues” advice that you’ve given me recently; I’ve now found some forums specifically for my little quirks and am currently reading lots of threads – some going back a few years – that are also giving me more info. From now on when I’m here I’ll be all about being a determined Aussie and giving (and gaining) support to other AD members. You are all a huge inspiration and if I can be half as successful as you long timers in a year I will be VERY happy!!!! Look at you all; back from a six week trip hovering somewhere in the 70s or fitting into a size 14 pair of jeans!!!! You are magnificent!!!

    BlueDress

BD, we WILL guide you with full support. I know it’s not always easy but we are here to let you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE, we have all had the same issues, up’s and down’s, zigzags and life issues, but if you post on a regular basis, we SEE how you’re going and can encourage you in the right direction. Have a great day and think positive 🙂 …CG xxx

Hi team, very quiet on here today, are you all okay? I’m having a very lethatgic day for some reason. My night time sleep patterns are back to normal but the Nanny Nap is becoming a constant in my life daily. I seem to start the day off okay, no breakfast as usual, just a coffee, then into chores after my shower. Made a huge pot of veg soup today, just so much in it, went to the store for mail, then had a seafood wrap for lunch and went down hill from there. I have so many chores I need to get into but this “idolitis” wont leave me. Is any one else having the same problem.? Unsure if it’s just AFTER a fast day but seems to be on going!….my turn to put a question out there 🙂 …CG xxx

Hi folks. I’m late today. It’s been ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Yesterday we had an electricity problem and our pump that brings water to the house was the culprit. The electrician eventually arrived today, worked on it for hours and all seems A1 OK. The power has just tripped again. My poor OH had just carted the generator back to the garage. No he’s busy carting it back again.
CG as others have said, if you are happy with yourself that’s all that matters. I’m also hoping to fit comfortably into a size 14 again. Then I’ll be content. I too was skinny when I was younger – not many obese nurses in our days! . I agree that being too skinny when one is older is not a good look.
Suejen, you’ll never guess what I bought while out shopping. Two of those delectable chocolate liquorice rolls. One is sitting waiting for me for after dinner.
One of our newbies was concerned about not losing weight quickly enough. To my way of thinking, that is what fad diets are all about. One does lose weight rapidly BUT the diet is not sustainable and one puts the weight back on again plus a few extra kilos for good measure. The 5:2 is not like that. This is a sustainable way of eating. Has anyone had the misfortune of seeing the DR Oz show? He is totally whacko. I read somewhere that he was a thoracic surgeon. I wouldnt allow him to operate on my worst enemy. OK now I’m go go to get sued. Just as well we are incognito.
    Cheers Doggy.

You’ll be fine Doggy, your poor OH, more money for the sparkie! Get him back, it could be something else. They charge like wounded bulls so it has to be done right. Most of my savings go on husband/tradie jobs and they almost need a personal loan from the bank. Golly they know how to charge.
Totally agree with 5:2 as a way of life, we do loose quickly in the first week or two, being fluid but then slowly, the way it went on, but each week you notice a difference either in the scales or tape measure but especially your shape. Our 5:2 is sustainable not like fad diets. This is FREE and just healthier eating with no real restrictions, I just love it. And look at all the new friends we make 🙂 🙂 🙂 ….CG xxxxx

    Hi All!
FB – welcome back! What a great trip you had, it sounds amazing…..you will have those wonderful memories to treasure for the rest of your life; but as for those pesky couple of kilos, they will be gone in no time!
CG – don’t be too hard on yourself. I know my sister is still not back to full speed after her dose, it seems to take quite a while before the energy levels get back to normal. So if a nanny nap is what your body is asking for, then that’s what you do!
Doggy – sorry you’re having trouble with your electrics; myself and my OH are useless at all those kinds of things and we’re always at the mercy of tradesmen. Hope it gets sorted soon.
BD – you too will be successful if you stick with this great gang; no matter what the issue or problem, there is always someone who has just the right words of wisdom and encouragement to keep you on the straight and narrow.
Weighed in this morning – no change in kilos but another loss of nearly 2cm off my thighs! Yippee! 🙂
Have a great day/night everyone xxxx

    Botox! … sheesh 🙂

Been a bugger of a day, enjoyed all the posts but just too darn tired to write more. TTFN YY x

HI All just getting on tonight. Had a day away minding 3 grandies – and was a challenging day with my 6yo. Bit hard when there is no discipline in place for me to use, & none would be acceptable! Leaves you with nowhere to go except to distract the little blighter!! Makes me very cross. Now I’ve had my rant I’ll get onto more important stuff.
CG take it easy & just work with your body till it gets itself back in order…and does what you want it to do. It’s just not ready yet & you know that you’re not in the least bit lazy…so run with it girl!
FD coming up tomorrow & ready for another. Fit I’d be happy enough with my scales too if I saw no loss but 2cm off my thighs! I don’t think they’ve moved much yet – guess I should start measuring them as it’s my worst area. Going to start adding in an aerobics DVD – need to do more to get those cms off, especially my waist. Have nice new pants that are great on my legs but just too much muffin top to wear them yet (tight elastic waist)…and yet my jeans are getting a bit baggy. So something has to move!! Have a great day all if you’re fasting tomorrow. What was it GG – plan, prepare, be patient and persist?! Working on it suejen….going to boil eggs now.

Just saw this. I think you should all add your comments!
    I have!
    http://www.abc.net.au/health/features/stories/2015/04/07/4211764.htm
    Cheers

Interesting read Uptight! Its funny how researchers say that long term benefits of IF are unknown, and then tack on to say that’s because the method itself has not been trialled for 20 years. Of course we don’t know the long term effects!! But should not stop anyone from taking steps NOW to make their lives better.
Have great day fasters, mine was done yesterday, and one more tomorrow . Lost another 600 gms this week so down to 75.2. But, my middle is all squishy looking now, so measurements are all over the place. I could got into AU size 12 dress trousers and top though 🙂
Hopefully the squishy middle issue sorts itself over time.

Suejen, my thigh measurements haven’t changed but pants are looser ( in the thigh area too), could be the same thing with you? Maybe skin takes time to shrink to the new body?
Agree with you re bratty kids. Hope you have peaceful day today 🙂

Good morning team and Happy Fast Day. Remember the 4 p’s from GG and for mine, if you have planned, you are ahead already.
Suejen, I know exactly where you’re coming from, had the same issue with mine as these days parents tend to explain, rule with psychology RUBBISH, kids just don’t respect authorities which leads to lack of control in schools then later with police who seem to have their hands tied. I’m afraid my grandies, especially my grandson, the youngest, learnt what a smack on the bum was when he came to the farm. I was aghast at the way he spoke to my daughter who virtually lived for her kids and husband. Just no respect shown at all. You know, now he is 12, we have a fantastic relationship and are very close. He keeps asking to come to the farm and help Nanny. Of course no one is talking child abuse, just a smack on the bum when they are so unruly, cheeky, rude and just plain naughty, especially with their siblings and others. Rant over! 🙂
Upt, I had a glance at the report, everyone seem to want to get on the bandwagon with opinions, I still think go with what suits you, a lot of tests were done before Michael released his findings to the public. Good enough for me.
Lotus a wonderful loss to you, well done, love those weeks when things come together and the scales smile.
Well I’ll be pretty much having a soup day today for my fast, I made it yesterday and can’t think of much that isn’t in it, including mixed bean salad, and white beans all filling, and just health in a bowl which is very filling. The rest for the freezer in portions now the weather is cooling and salads will no longer be the main stay.
Have a really happy day team, think positive thoughts, be proud of what you are doing, know you have a team behind you giving strength and above all, don’t be hard on yourself. I hear you team with my lethargy issue, thank you. CG 🙂 xxxxxx

    Good Morning Ads
Thanks for the welcome. I am really happy to be back with a bunch of great people again!!!
Happy fasting to those who are fasting today. My first fast after 5 and a half weeks was yesterday. I almost gave up to Indian takeaway at dinner time. But don’t know how, managed to say NO at last moment and ended up having 450 cals only….. Woooohoooooo first fast done n dusted.
However had issues sleeping, but now I know that its normal n will settle with couple of fasts. I plan to do another fast tomorrow and lets see if I am able to hold on to temptation. It is particularly hard as I got used to big n heavy meals during holidays.

CG , when mum saw me at the airport, she was just so so so happy and kept on repeating over n over again how great I looked. Even said that she WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY for me to look in such good shape…..
My sister’s reaction:- Well she was quiet for a while when mum was saying all that, but she was looking at me from all angles from corner of her eyes. And sometime later said “Um yeah looks like you have lost heaps, how mch did you loose?”

Later she even cried in front of one of our aunts that Mum is all gaga about me n complementing me but not her…. Ha ha ha.
She is 7 years elder to me but such a baby, very immature as she wants to be the centre of attraction all the time. When Mum’s attention shifted to me, she couldnt take it….
However, i dont care much now as Atleast I want to act mature. It does hurt sometimes but what matters most is feeling good within myself…..

Apologies for long story but I had to share it as, this is where my journey started on this thread.

    Love n Strength to all!!!

    FB

Hi FB, just so happy for you, the sour grapes from your sister will settle and I think Mum needs to learn to treat you both the same. I know what you went through with their attitude before starting 5:2 and how hard you worked to reach your goal. It still boils down to SELF SATISFACTION not what others think, and you kid have done just that. Congratulations FB for a job well done, also on using your AUSSIE DETERMINATION last night. Difficult when re starting…looking forward to meeting up soon 🙂 CG xxx

    Hi everyone

It appears everyone is just doing their thing with this program weight is falling off everyone slowly and measurements are dropping. How good is that.

My skinny pants are now my fat pants. Gone from 22 and now need 16. I need some more black work pants. The funny part is that they are so long that they drag on ground. Less bumps to go over I guess.

I am proud did my fast day whilst home with family and chocolate . Finding it so much easier to not eat it. Usually over Easter I would have eaten my body weight in chocolate. This year one bunny one egg that’s it. Wow what a difference.

thank you 5 2 and the help and encouragement from this group.

For those who are fasting have have a great day.

Catch everyone for weigh in Friday

    Hi All!
Suejen, Lotus, CG – we all know that 5:2 works; we might not always know how or why, but we are the proof that it does. Sometimes it’s in weight loss, sometimes cm loss and sometimes our clothes just feel looser or fit better. Our appetites have changed, our portions sizes are smaller, our taste buds appreciate healthier foods. We have adopted a new wol and we can make it work for us, even when we fall off the wagon or take a break, we are able to get back on track. There will always be those who want to dismiss or find fault with something they don’t understand or say has no lasting scientific backing, but I don’t need any more proof than looking in the mirror every day and liking what I see.
Lotus – well done on your loss too, you’re doing really well.
FB – fantastic to see how strong you have become; sticking so well to your fast day and recognizing that your sister has a problem and that you can rise above her pettiness and just concentrate on being happy in yourself and for yourself – no-one else matters.
Bali – that’s brilliant how many sizes you have dropped. I wish I had your self-control around chocolate. I’m afraid I had to finish my egg today in one go (I had tried rationing it out over the week), so my fast day tomorrow will have to cancel out about 800 cals of chocolate!! Oops!
Happy fasting everyone and stick to the plan – we know it works!! 🙂

Fit, I also think we have all proved a couple of weeks holidays don’t really make that much overall difference. We get so cross with ourselves over a bit of cake or chocolate or whatever, a good week end, but it doesn’t matter. It has taken YEARS, not a week end or a holiday, to get us to where we WERE and our 5:2 is just so forgiving and lets us live a normal life. The “normal” eating really is true, a few wines etc, but conscious choices and portion control, two fasts a week and look how well it works… 🙂 CG xxxxx

Hello all you lovely people. CG ,just going back to the top of the page and your rant with interest rates. I’m in the same boat. We were paying our house off whe the interest rates were 17.5% Now that we’ve worked hard all our lives, never got a cent from handouts and have some money saved for our retirement, the interest rates are sweet BA. Good for the younger one’s though. Suejen I agree with you re kids and discipline. Life is all about boundaries and how to behave. I’ve a young friend who is a teacher and she had to chuck up her job in South Australia as she found the bad behaviour of the students all too much to cope with.
FD here too today. I’ve just made the Zucchini Straganoff you posted CG.Its very yummy. Yes well the sparkie was back again this morning and thinks the pump is the problem. Poor OH has just replaced it with our old one ( supposedly repaired ). I think we may need to just buy a new one. Yes tradies do know how to charge. At least this one actually comes when he says he’s going to.
    Happy 5:2ing team.
    XX Doggy.

    Morning all,

SueJen, I’ve only just started with this journey but the first change for me has been my bra feeling less tight. I was stubbornly resisting buying bigger ones and it looks like it was the right thing to do. Underwear, on the other hand, is up to a size 20 and cotton. Compared to my daughter’s they look like giant briefs…..I’m REALLY looking forward to getting back into undies that look like undies rather than tents!

FD today, I have chicken soup. I got carried away with the poaching thing but left the chook in the slow cooker too long so have magnificent stock and tasteless meat. Only solution was soup but it is a very yummy and healthy.

CG, nothing wrong with a nana nap! Scientific studies prove that a short afternoon snooze improves productivity and alertness more than a high energy snack or a coffee. Don’t ask me to say which studies, just snooze guiltlessly.

Bali, our kids (17 and 20) decided that this was the year that they didn’t want eggs as they are both trying to eat “healthily”, problem was that I’d already bought enough for them and the cousins for an egg hunt….We have so many eggs to resist that I don’t think we will be able to. I am not having any today though.

    Cheers,

    BD

Morning all. FD started with an egg, another for lunch, and then a stirfry with chicken for dinner. Good healthy stuff. Yep BD I’ve already ditched a few pairs of bras & wearing some nicer ones…the undies are yet to follow. I’ve bought several pairs & I’ve tried them on so I can see what’s coming but not there yet. Can’t wait to buy some lacy lingerie though and wear it under a dress or a skirt…now that will be cool! I’ve depended on my cotton knickers to hold it all in until now.
Fit you’re so right looking in the mirror every day & liking what we see – that’s such a radical change for me, have totally avoided mirrors/windows for a long time.
Bali 22 to 16 Woohoo! Go girl. And yes it’s amazing how things get mysteriously longer isn’t it.
FB well done for sticking to your first fast again, now that’s some achievement – despite the indian takeaway calling you. And hold your head high over the weight you’ve lost despite your family – families eh, gotta love em!
Yes re the kids looking forward to a peaceful day today. Lots to do getting our art exhibition ready so off to get started. That will keep me busy & that means a successful FD. Have a great day if you’re fasting all, use those hot liquids and before you know it the day will be done. And tomorrow……have whatever you’ve been craving today – in moderation of course. But I think we all know by now that’s exactly what happens with 5:2 yes you crave something today but you have a bit the next day & it’s like Mmm that was good now I’ve had enough! suejen

On the topic of undies, any thoughts on buying the control ones? More to contain the “squishy belly” than anything else, but went and saw some at the shops and they looked pretty drastic (i.e., uncomfortable), but generally that is what suggested when we are losing weight quickly, to support the stomach muscles apparently. Apologies if this post is TMI, but confused whether to buy or not 🙂

Lotus, i bought some from Target and they were too uncomfortable to last while day. However, it was summers then and they may feel better at this time of the year. I know not much of help but just my experience

And a big Thanks to everyone. As ai said, i got the spirit of self confidence from this thread.
CG , really looking forward to our meeting. Very very excited

    Thanks FB, that helps.

On the topic of control undies. I’ve found that the knickers with a bit of elastic over the tummy are OK to wear. BUT if one still has the muffin top look, one is looking at those ” all in one horrors.” Similar to the corsets of old. I personally would find them just too uncomfortable to wear.
    Cheers Doggy xx

Ughh, you are right Doggie – muffin top is precisely what I am trying to avoid. cheers, Lotus

Hi team, just my two bobs worth, maybe it’s age related and I dress for comfort but I buy full briefs which don’t seem to cause muffin tops… 🙂 CG xxxx

TY CG! I would too, if only it didn’t show under some of the trousers or office suits I have got…
But, having said that – this is such a shallow topic that I have started *blushes* – so will move on 🙂 sorry team ! Ahem!!

No blushed necessary Lotus, we are all going through changes and need hints. I have just bought new bras, my “older” / bigger ones still new with labels, can’t believe how quickly things changed. Waste of money but happy with the changes…catch 22, just totally did out my walk in robe, so much …many favourites…gone out vowing never to be that size again! 🙂 ….GC xxxx

Love the “UNDIES” subject…. I wear beautiful and comfortable under wear. AND rarely have the muffin top thing happen… but there are times it does
For work ,nothing beats bonds “COTTON TAILS” Can only buy them from MYERS about $14 the are cotton and elastine they give you tummy support and are cool to wear.
The “MIRACLESUIT” I brought from MYERS- comes up just under your bust is comfortable ..can role if the torso has loose skin but gives a smooth look to torso and tummy.
NANCY GANTZ has a scooped out bust (that you wear a bra with) gives a great smooth look for the torso and tummy area. Negitive is- there are 2 straps on your shoulders.
For the lacey look Taget has some beautiful bras and briefs in all shapes g-string to full brief. and they are comfortable. The best thing (if you can)is to be fitted by the ladies at MYER OR DAVID JONES … these ladies know ALL the tricks and will have you feeling and looking beautiful… EVEN Target has undie consultants!
If any of you are lucky enough to have a DFO(direct factory outlet) LA PERLE also has a beautiful sexy range of underware. The most important thing (as you are all aware )is to be comfortable.
Team (SORRY TO THE MEN)You are all beautiful in your own self. Like our 5:2, find what works for you, camoflarge the bits you need, smile, wear fragrance and never leave the house without(YOUR WALLET! CG) lipstick!….Hope these tips and ravings will help…..love……GO GAL

Well done and informative GG, Yes I like good old cotton tails for comfort.. 🙂 CG xxx

    Hi All!
It’s amazing how in sync we are on this forum…just this morning when I was getting dressed, I was looking at the sad state of some of my undies and thinking to myself that now is the right time to throw out the old and buy in the new! How incredible is that! Lotus, don’t go for something too drastic because what they squeeze in one area usually has to come out somewhere else and will be very uncomfortable! Mild or soft control works best I think. I usually wear the ‘Bridget Jones’ type in cotton to hold things in a bit but without strangling myself 🙂 but now I think I can go for something smaller and prettier. Whoopee…..the (well)hidden joys of this wol! 🙂
Doggy – think we’ll have to replace our pump too, ouch!
Bali – I would not be able to resist extra eggs so that’s why I decided to go for broke yesterday and finished my egg off in one go. Today is a fast day and I can put all thoughts of egg out of my mind and get myself back on track. Well done you!
Happy fasting or not…..off to tackle a mountain of ironing! 🙂

Thanks so much team! And thanks for the very informative post GG! Very helpful. Will try cottontails ( was never a full brief person, but this seems the least painful option ) – the Nancy Gamtz / Spanx I tried the other day would be difficult to wear the whole day.
CG- I did a big clean out last month – down to four trousers, 1 skirt and 1 pair of jeans that are actually my size. Tops and jackets ( fitted Blazers at least) are still working out. But still keeping some bigger really pretty clothes that feel a shame to throw out,.. Another clean out planned for next weight milestone (70kilos)
I have to go for a bra fitting too.
I am fasting today (it’s Friday for us) too Fit! Ironing is one way keep busy on a fast day 🙂 about as enjoyable as filing for me, but has to be done eh?
    Have a great day all!!

    Good morning all

I broke my fast yesterday finished on 1100 oops. Kids were away and hubby wanted to take me out for dinner. Oh well first fast I have broke in nearly 7 months.

I stood on scales this morning and jumped off again. I will weigh in tomorrow. Still full from dinner last night, don’t want to be disheartened for having a dinner out.

On the subject of undies. A girlfriend gave me some size 16 Bonds bikini undies. Guess what i am now wearing them. No more big undies for Me. We deserve good underwear.

Hope everyone has a great weigh in today.

Well done Bali, a romantic night with OH is just so worth missing a fast 🙂 good on you CG xx

    Good Morning Determinators.
Bali, aren’t you amazing….. You have done so so well. Missing one fast in 7 months is great effort. And as CG said, ithat a romantic dinner with live of your life is always worrh breaking the fast. However, you still did good at 1100 cals, congratulations.
Aaah, i need to through out my big undies n get the new sexy n comfortable ones too 😉
I still wear size 14 undues sone days but thetmy are way too big now. Thanks for the shopping tips GG. Really helpful.
Off to another super busy day at work. This will help as I am also dasting today (lotus, fit….fast Buddies) LOL
