  • Hi to everyone on the Aussie thread! Wobblybitz been feelin a bit wobbly so been offline for ~week or so. Think I’m going hyper thyroid again so just waiting on blood tests imgoing thru menopause and if hyper then no wonder I’ve put on 0.1 whilst virtually zero appetite!!!
Hope everyone else been going well xxx I’ll post more when feelin more energy.
Is this a plateau, so soon??!; I started 4 Jan!

P.s. goodness knows what size is be if it weren’t for hyperthyroid. Any info anyone knows about that 5:2 is OK for hyperthyroid ??!!

Hi all, Barb05 I am also a patchworkers and am in the middle of putting together my first jelly roll quilt. It’s much quicker as all the pieces are pre-cut. Have done a bit of quilting but only on small items. This will be a challenge as it’s for a queen size bed! Just got a new Janome Skyline S5 machine and it’s making my job so much easier.
On the food front, I am not eating much as it’s so humid here. Just been having lots of cold drinks, sparkling mineral water with a little bit of cordial, ice cold, very refreshing. Hoping for a bit of rain tomorrow.

Hi WOBBERLY….I HAVE A MULTI NODULAR GOITRE…..I CAN HAVE SYMPTOMS OF BOTH HYPO/HYPER THYRODISM. LUCKY ME!
Most schools of thought will advise you always to take uour thyroxine 30 to60 min prior to breakfast as the stomach is empty and the maximum absortion rate of the medication is at its peak …..your getting the whole dose without it being digested slower after a meal. There are meds which need to be taken with food as their contents will cause some gastric unrest.
ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DR OR PHARMACIST WHO WILL WELL ADVISE if ok to take daily meds at night….but always check.
Some meds can interact with thyroxine eg statins for cholesterol…once again always check with your health care professional.
I encourage anyone when commencing any medication to ALWAYS DISCUSS THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THEM, THE DURATION OF TREATMENT,MISSING DOSES,OTHER MEDS TAKEN . IT is important as we become older and wiser to know what we are putting into our bodies and the effects that a drug can have.
There is no contraindications I have researched suggedting thst intermittant fasting interfers with persons who have thyroid conditions
RULE OF THUMB… IS ASK QUESTIONS ALWAYS your GP NEEDS TO HEAR YOUR VOICE AND YOUR CONCERNS…ITS YOUR BODY ….TREAT AND RESPECT IT.STAY WITH 5:2 TO REAP OTHER HEALTH BENEFITS.
    Hope this helps……….GO GAL XXXXXXX

PS….I forgot to mention .In 16mths of 5:2 my thyroid nodules have decreased in size, blood pathology shows a decline on the high side of normal. My condition is possible why I zig zag with my weight…….GO GAL ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’

Hi Noots, just looked at your new machine. Very nice indeed. I see it has a 9mm foot plate, I have one of those too, very useful. The quilt I am working on is 90″ square. Very cumbersome and I am wondering whether I want to try this again. Will let you know how I go. I have made several jelly roll quilts in different patterns I think they are great. Actually the quilt I am quilting now is a jelly roll with appliquรฉ tropunto on it.

I had half my thyroid removed. Apparently I had a “blank” nodule which is prone to cancer so they removed it, I don’t take medication but have it checked every 12 months and am pleased to say its always a good report. I am sorry you haven’t been as lucky GG & WB.

Having a fast day tomorrow instead of Monday, as I mentioned previously I am donating plasma on Monday and they would reject me if I had not had anything to eat. I started the same day as you WB ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Barb xx

    Hi All!
Wow, you have been busy while I slept!
GL, great to hear you’re still on track and doing so well. You must be quite petite if your goal is 61!
Noots, good to hear from you too and that you’re busy and enjoying life.
WB, sorry that you’re having a tough time and hope things improve for you soon. Meanwhile, do your best with 5:2 because there will be benefits going on even if you can’t see them.
Jellies, fantastic story to date, you’re more than welcome to stay with us here and join in the fun. It’s always great to hear the success stories ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
GG, you’re a wonderful inspiration having done so well on this journey despite various medical issues. Hope your OH’s back clears up soon and that you enjoyed your swim.
PH, brilliant job on the clearing out, it’s very therapeutic, isn’t it? But it’s good that you’re taking a rest now, take care of your back xx
Jade, sounds like you had a really fun evening, so we’ll deserved after a hard and busy week.
AA, I’m in awe of you not feeling the need to eat your full nfd allowance! I totally overdid it on my nfd yesterday, I just keep sabotaging myself….. I do a great fd and then undo all the good the next day ๐Ÿ™
Barb, you’re another busy bee. It would be lovely to see photos of all these finished quilts someday…..what a wonderful talent to have.
CG, great advice and encouragement for everyone, as ever. Hope you’re having a fun weekend with your furry friends. Hope Lexie appreciates all the attention you lavish on her! ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’•

For anyone interested in Ireland, there’s a fantastic short video showing amazing views of the country with comments by various ordinary people. I can’t find the link to post it here but if you google ‘A nation of chancers’, the video will come up. It will also get your ears tuned into my accent so that you might be able to understand me when I get my Skype sorted before the WTF reunion! Keep a look out for the places named Newgrange monument and The hill of Tara, as they are both close to where I live. Enjoy my beautiful country!๐Ÿ’•โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿžโ›ฐ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

    Absolutely spectacular FIT.

What a FANTASTIC video Fit! Just loved it but will have to watch again as I forgot what places I was looking out for!! sj XX

Thanks, gals….glad you enjoyed it. Forgot to say, SJ, that the traffic jam yesterday was in a town less than 30 minutes away. Enjoy the rest of the weekend whatever ye get up to! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good morning/evening all, not feeling too terribly wounded today, thanks to all the water before bed. Goodness, all the medical and quilting terms I donโ€™t really understand โ€“ Iโ€™m in awe of our diverse knowledge and talents โ€“ my sympathies though to those battling thyroid problems and juggling meds.
PH if you find the cleaning bug again, please send it to me. We have a few boxes of OHโ€™s momโ€™s old documents to sort through. For some of it, I know we just need to pick 1-2 samples of precious memories and toss the rest. Otherwise, itโ€™ll all go back in the box never to be seen again. Getting him to do that is another thing entirely.
Fit ahhhh thanks for that video, I miss hearing the lovely Irish accent most of all. Such spectacular views around the peninsula, truly breathtaking as they said. And lovely to โ€œrevisitโ€ Dublin โ€“ SJ I caught Newgrange and Tara around 3:20 on the video, one of those โ€œdonโ€™t blinkโ€ moments (I had to go back as well!). Gosh they packed so much into that 9 minutes!
Hugs to all, must run to help a sick friend who canโ€™t take her dog out โ€“ little terrier whoโ€™s great friends with ours so I said Iโ€™d scoop her up on my round of errands. xx

Jade, you never sit still for long….enjoy walking the doggies, you’re very kind and thoughtful. Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it will give you the incentive to come back again this summer ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Fit, seeing those cars driving on the left side of the road did bring back some exciting memories! I was grateful we caused only minor (though expensive) property damage, no personal injuries. I may have to use my forum alias to rent a car there ever again. ๐Ÿ™‚ But the video touched quite a few heart strings as well…we really came to love your country and I so hope to visit again. This world is just too big for me, I want all of it!

Time for a walk with the THREE dogs currently by my feet – the weather is almost 60F (around 16C?) which is crazy but I’ll take advantage. OH is hammering something upstairs and I just heard some colorful language – better leave before he enlists my help – I need to walk little Rosie back home and I’m taking my friend a container of homemade ham&bean soup. Just had a great idea, to use the rest for FD soup if I thin it with chicken broth. Sounds pretty good for tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

All right, up and at ’em Aussies and good morning to all of you! Fit it is time for you to have a cocktail – cheers! xxx

Yes, driving on the other side of the road is fraught with danger…..many tourists are involved in accidents here each year, unfortunately they don’t all walk away unscathed. We bring our car to France and it’s a scary prospect driving over there because of course the steering wheel is on the wrong side!
Hope the mutts enjoyed the walk and your soup sounds amazing….another act of kindness? ๐Ÿ‘ผ We’ll have to call you St. Jade! Don’t tempt me with talk of cocktails….. I’m at the limit of my TDEE!

I am can never be petite but medium build only 5′ 1″. I am still considered overweight for my height. I am still holding most of it on my stomach which is still well above 80 cm. I spent the day fixing up messes the gardener left when I had him working here. (4 hrs at least that much again) To give me a break I put in a little path to the rain gauge of twelve pavers. That took 2 hours not bad for my first effort. Finished at sunset. One and a half jobs off the list. While I was doing some weeding I found a hollyhock plant had come up again. There was a white one in the garden and was burnt during the Black Saturday Bushfires, that winter through the ashes just one germinated and it was a single pink. It was taken out as I have the put Magnolias into that bed that can take extra water as it is from my sewerage. It will be interesting to see what colour it is. At least with the cooler weather I can do a bit more outside.

GL, sounds like you’re doing a great job in the garden, isn’t nature amazing….some plants are incredibly resilient. Enjoy the fruits of your labours ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ

FIT-THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THE VIDEO.
You are truely blessed to live in a beautiful land.
I am now putting Ireland on my Bucket list!
Years ago as an nurse educator I had a few irish students. They were from County Cork and Waterford.
One of the girl’s Dad was a glass maker at Waterford. When she was leaving she presented me with a peice of her Dad’s work. I cherish it with my heart and have so many humerous memories of these awsome students…….Go Galxxxxxxx

How wonderful GG…..yes, I definitely think there should be a WTF reunion in the Emerald Isle someday!

Ireland is lovely. I drove around a lot of it in 1986 when i was doing a year in London. I was in my mid 20s and we drove to wales and took a boat across with the car. We took off for the west coast and then headed south and basically followed the coastline around to our starting point. It was beautiful and the pubs and people were nice.

Steroids are brutal. Today 0.7 of yesterdays loss was in theory back but i know its not really. I understand the problem with daily weighing but it does keep me on task so i continue to do it. I finished yesterday 200 behind my calorie count. We had a nice dinner with steamed fish and veg and watermelon and strawberries for dessert. We had sugar free shortbread with a cuppa afterwards. My guest left at 2am so i am now wrecked and will be late for church if i dont stop posting.

    Have a great day all.

    Anne

GL that is a lovely story about the pink hollyhock that appeared through the ashes. And GG, what a beautiful gift from your Irish student! High praise indeed.
Fit, I felt very fortunate that we did not hurt anyone when driving on the “wrong” side – luckily our mishaps were all with parked cars, and the police were very nice about it ๐Ÿ™‚
Annie, I have the same experience with the scale almost every other time – and I know we all do. You have a great attitude about it, and really what else can we do – following the plan WILL get results.
Where is CG today? I miss her daily dose of Aussie pep! xx

Good morning/evening team, guess who had a sleep in? We had two big thunderstorms over night which woke me, and it was lovely laying there listening to the rain and booms going on out side. Bed seems such a safe place doesn’t it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Fit, I loved the vidoe, we have one at the moment for the Australian tourists which is beautiful too. When I saw “ours” I realised how little I have seen of my own beautiful country. I would love to do a reunion in Ireland one day, and will have to knuckle down to do some big savings.
Jade, you little trooper, walking the dogs and supplying soup for a sick friend, warms the heart doesn’t it ๐Ÿ˜€ and doing you good with exercise at the same time.
PH, love the pic of your GD you emailed, how precious ๐Ÿ˜‡
Annie it’s lovely to have a successful evening with a friend, when you plan a meal and it all goes off so well.
GG how is your o/h today, have the meds kicked in?
GL, yes nature is very resilient, when we think of how many bush fires have ravished our country over the years and not many traces of it left after such a short time ๐Ÿ˜Š the scrub, bush and plants seem to drop their seeds and replentish them selves, not always in the best positions ๐Ÿ˜ but can be moved, it’s all life’s longing for itself….
I assume our quilters are busy at work as are all our crafties ๐Ÿ˜Š, I got stuck into a few windows yesterday, and after the pain ” roll call” this morning have decided to do a few more today. Nose prints in the family room are a constant from the boys so all gone at the moment. All my windows are floor to ceiling, so a big job one and all. This time of year the cobwebs are being built outside too and they love getting in the window corners, so they, too, hopefully, will be gone today. Not too hot outside, or wet, so no excuses ๐Ÿ˜Š….have a rewarding Sunday team, enjoy your endevours, today is yours so make it count.
How lovely to see the Williams girl beaten at the tennis too, can’t think of the winners name, but she was so sweet, played very cool, and took it home ๐Ÿ˜ƒ xxxxxxxx

Mornin CG, you sleepyhead! Yes, it’s lovely to listen to a storm raging outside while you’re tucked up safe and warm. Good to hear you slept soundly when the fun was over ๐ŸŒฉโšก๏ธ๐ŸŒช๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿ’จ Glad you liked the video too, it’s a real whirlwind tour of the country. As Jade said…..the world is too big when there are so many places we want to see and not enough funds to do it. Maybe we should ask Dr M to get the BBC to do a documentary about us which would involve us all travelling to each other’s part of the world? ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒš๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Hi Fit, yes I can really see that happening! Keep dreaming ๐Ÿ˜ƒ no, some good old fashion savings will do it, next year, up with Gypsy, maybe the following one we can think about it, we will be the travelling ADers ๐Ÿ˜€
I did feel guilty staying there this morning, then thought WHY? I’m up so early every morning, and that’s not what retirement is meant to be! Plus, with our daylight savings, still plenty of hours I can get chores done in. How much longer before your o/h returns, what a welcome he will get ๐Ÿ˜‰xxxxx stay safe dear one ๐Ÿ’•xx

Hi all. Welcome to our group, Jellies. You will find us a very friendly, supportive lot. SJ you and I seem to be on the same journey. I managed to get down to 67 kilos in Sept. last year. Then had the flu, crook knee and Xmas and I’m hovering between 70 – 70.5. Kilos. I’ve got to admit to totally dropping the ball over that period. I just pigged put and eat all manner of high calorie food. Chocolates being the main culprit. Anyhow we have new week ahead of us so let’s do it.
AA, I agree with CG, IF I wasn’t hungry I wouldn’t eat unless you need to if taking meds. At times I wonder if I eat because I’m hungry or it’s a habit or I’m just a guts!
That’s good advice GG re Thyroid issues. Both hyper and hypo, poor you but you do seem to be coping very well.
Well my washing machine is in its death throes. I’ve just been in the Choice website. I’ll probably land up getting a Bosch. I’ve that brand dishwasher and it’s excellent. Do not buy a Fisher and Pykel top loader. It is very rough on clothes and manages to tie knots in shirt sleeves. I hate it.
I’ve not been out for a walk for days due to rain. I must do so today as this is no way to lose weight.
    XX Doggy

Some of You may remember that last week I brought a NUTRIBULLET.
I have just used it for the 1st time. I have made a delicious smoothie using
    1cup kale
    1banana
    1tblsp honey
    1cup of water
    1teaspn linseed
    Crushed ice
71cals .I used 1/2 of the recipe total cals in 1 litre is 192cals
Why did I wait so long to buy one. Not bad to have on a FD which is today for me.
    Have a awesome day.
OH back in bed…..his back pain has not improved ….so I am of f to the beach again .He does not want me to fuss over him….catch you later ๐Ÿ‘™๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ˜Ž…..GO GAL ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

Nutribullets are great GG. One of my favs is half an orange, celery, carrot, chia seeds, watermelon and english spinach or whatever greens i have onhand plus water. (Kale is not my digestive friend). I also freeze strawberries when in season and chuck a few of those in.

Also i buy frozen mango from aldi and put that in the bullet by itself with water and make sorbet. I also freeze tinned pineapple and do the same.

    Happy experimenting.

Hi all. Loved the video Fit. Would love to go to Ireland again some day ..hopefully will win the lottery? YOU NEVER KNOW. however should buy some tickets I guess…๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ then I could shout everyone…

Gl. Sounds like you had a very successful gardening experience. It is really amazing what fires will do to regenerate the earth. Would be better if it was controlled burning though. Just like the early aboriginals did.

Noots and Barb you sound like very experienced quilters. I too would love to see some photos one day. I love quilts but have never had the time to do it and now my back won’t let me do much sewing so saving what time I have for little things….and of course altering clothes that suddenly become too big!! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

Downloaded the recipe SJ . Can you tell me the calories per serve.? Looks yummy in the pic.

Welcome jellies. You story is very inspiring. I still have at least 12 kg to go but am confident I can do it on 5.2 with the great support on this thread. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

CG. Good on you for having a good sleep in. Should do it more often if you need it. I too love lying in bed and listening to rain on a tin roof. Most peaceful feeling In the world. Not so peaceful if it has its angry hat on though. Glad there was no real damage done to your place. We had a blackout on Friday night after lightening struck somewhere close. Certainly brings back memories of pre electricity. โšก๏ธโšก๏ธ๐ŸŒฉ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Jade. Well done with the doggie walks. I will pass my cleaning bug on when I fi ish with it. Can’t do it yet as it still has me in its grip. Know what you mean about your OH’s mums stuff. Spent this morning cleaning out a box full of my mums things and condensing it. Have kept all of her diaries and she put dot point notes of everything that happened to the family in her little pocket sized diaries. I have about 20 years worth of them that I plan on going through one by one and typing the dot points into a spreadsheet with a column for each family member. Then can email them the information. OH asked me if I would help him go through all the special times in our life and do the same thing the other night. Mums diaries will certainly help with that info. Should be fun. You find some great stuff cleaning out when you have time to actually read some of it. Having a great time. And to think all of this started cause daughter decided to bring up photos from garage into the house….ain’t life grand!! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

Hi to everyone I have missed. Have had enough rest so up and at it again…๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ–‡๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’

Afternoon/Evening all….maybe morning for some others how are we all. Very late posting today. Stayed longer at church this morning chatting. then had a whole pile of replies re accommodation for our holiday in the USA with our son. We now have almost all of the time booked in with different couples hosting us from a mob called Affordable Travel Company. Yippee…..so much money saved!!!! You pay $20 a night for bed and breakfast. We just have one week left to sort. We’ve also made contact with a home exchange family that have family in Australia & live near our son in the US – HOW GOOD IS THAT??!! They are interested in a future exchange as are we of course!

PH the cals for the Eggplant Rotolo Ragu are 410 per serve & it serves 6 in total. You get a good sized serve. You could also serve up less with a bigger salad etc for less cals. BUT….you won’t want to!!!
GG you’re sure having fun with that Nutribullet.
Doggie we’re not getting very far in our weight loss challenge are we??!! Let’s see what happens next week. We might both hit the 69’s again together. When do you go on your holiday and where to? I think you said that you’d be gone by the time of the reunion?
CG lovely that you managed a sleep-in. Was just commenting to a friend that all the school holidays I’ve woken up EARLIER than on a school day almost every day!! Quite maddening. Had a few lazy days but could count them on one hand easily.
AA those darn scales. I’m not even on steroids, kept well below my TDEE yesterday & I was up .8 today. How does one manage that?! As you say daily weighing is part of the problem but don’t think I can get out of the habit. It’s simply my routine now.

Had a bit of a lazy day today. A friend came around for afternoon tea & we chatted about all manner of things & toured the garden etc. Then as I said been answering lots of emails & plotting out our accommodation offers. It all takes a bit of work but worth it for sure. Now about to fill in MFP to see where I’m at for the day. Have a Broccoli chicken mac and cheese planned for tea if calories permit – healthier version. It’s only 15o here today so quite a cool snap & wet on & off so a good day to snuggle up & finish off my latest book I think.

Hope you’ve all had a good day & are starting thinking about FD number 1 tomorrow to kick some weight to the kerb…for good! suejen XXXX

Evening team.Spending just over an hour at the beach was so soul lifting. My skin is feeling soft and hydrated and sun kissed but not excessively red….just enough to have a dose of vit D.
I have been researching on the MAYO CLINIC WEBSITE…www.mayoclinic.org
There is some very interesting reading which I encourage you to take a peek at.Also,SIMCOLUV Has lots of good advise with links that are do full of information. A good read all round for us veterans of 5:2 and our newbies.Although there is a mindfeild of information out there..it can and often does cause confusion,eg TDEE. ONe must eat to it…..never over it. Here is an example. Female 60yrs,ht160cm, wt 76kgs the caloric intake for the day is 1200cals.Your phyical activity must be taken into account. 30 to 60 min/each day.
As a wise one said….”THE LESS YOU EAT….. THE MORE YOU LOSE!
    OK LESSON OVER…….๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿต……GO GAL XXXXXX

    Hi All!
CG, I suppose you’re glued to the tennis! I’d love Andy to win but he has made it hard for himself losing the first set so badly. Second set very close, my nerves are in shreds! OH will be back tomorrow…..it has been a long 9 days but also strangely tranquil. I suppose a change is always interesting.
Dawg, good luck with the new washing machine, there’s so much choice out there and many machines are just too sophisticated for me….. I find I only use one or two programmes anyway. Sometimes you’d need a degree in engineering to use the bloody things! I try to buy the same brand of white goods too because you can get better after sales service that way.
GG and AA, sounds like you’re getting great value for your bullets…. I don’t think it would suit me to drink my calories, I feel I need to get my teeth into something to feel satisfied. Of course that’s also what’s got me into this mess!๐Ÿ˜‰
PH, glad you liked the video too. Someone in Ireland just won half of the European lottery, about 60 million, I think…..but sadly it wasn’t me! โ˜น๏ธ How wonderful to have your mum’s diaries, that would be amazing to put all the info on spreadsheets for all the family….a very special and unique legacy. That’s something that is definitely going to be lost to this generation, records like that can’t be made with technology really and devices are updated so often, they become obsolete in no time so even if you have stuff stored on them you can’t access it any more. Not all advances are good. Stay safe in all this wild weather. Xx
Ok, better get going and prepare the veggies for lunch before I go and get my sister up and bring her back to mine for the day. Thankfully, I can watch the tennis while I’m at it, but I better be careful I don’t slice a finger off!

Hi there, SJ and GG, our posts crossed.
Glad you had a lovely swim, GG, I don’t know when I last saw the sun ๐Ÿ™
SJ, it’s great to chat with neighbours like that isn’t it? Well done on all the great bargains for your trip, fantastic!
    Ok, really gotta go now!

Hi Fit, yes I am, Andy doesn’t seem to have his head right in this game, he almost looked defeated before it began, it a shame, he’s played some good shots, but don’t think tonight is his.
Enjoy your day with your sister just relax and take it as it comes. ๐Ÿ’•Xxxxx

Fit, i thought the same as you about drinking calories but my allergist recommended it to me as a way of building up my immunity as you can add superfoods like chia and flazseed etc to it. I find that it makes for a very low calorie brekkie as it does fill you up and depending upon what you put into it you get a refreshing thick drink which is quite low cal as it has carrot and celery in it and just water, plus i can make sorbet out of frozen fruit which replaces ice cream in my diet. On a hot day mango sorbet is bliss. I was very skeptical so i bought a generic one which was on sale online and only cost me $69. I figured that was a pretty risk free investment if i ended up never using it after the initial whim. I use it every day and the generic one i bought has every attachment the nutribullet has – 4 cups of diff sizes and 2 blades and cup covers etc etc. I will use it till it drops dead then replace it.

I had 2 functions today and ate 1700 which is above my goal but below my TT whatever figure of 1800. Our church went to a local bakery which supplies our huge communion sourdough each month to celebrate their second birthday and they handed out cake samples. I shared a few with others so had a small taste of a few and a nice roll with a few small slices of pork belly and lots of chargrilled veg. Then we had an induction service for a friend and the congregation put on dinner. Bless their hearts…there were 4 salads and we had a tablespoon of each plus a bread roll. No creamy dressings and no meat but one was a pasta salad so that was perfect but i did have a cupcake. I probs overestimated my food for the day but am happy to wear the 1700. I am not happy that i could not resist the stupid cupcake and cake samples though. Maybe i was annoyed about the weight reading this morning and thought stuff it. I did not consciously think that but i did not have my normal resolve thats for sure. I know i am still on track for the day but its my mental attitude that bothered me. I will just have to let it go and do better tomorrow.

I did my steps late at night as i came home at 7:45pm at only 5000. It was funny because all of the fitbit nutters like me were out walking the streets in the cool of the evening checking their steps. hahaha…. Its been a 33 degree C day here in sunny Sydney and the temp has only just come down enough to make a walk pleasant.

    Ax

CG, poor Andy definitely struggled today and wasn’t consistent enough even though he did play brilliantly at times, particularly his serving. Hope his new arrival puts any disappointment into perspective.
AA, that’s good to know about what your allergist said. I’m a great believer in everyone doing what works for them, as one size does definitely not fit all. You were wise to buy the generic version until you found out if it suits you or not but you are getting brilliant use out of it, so well done!

Morninโ€™ everyone! CG, glad you had a nice sleep in yesterday, nothing better than feeling all safe and cozy under the covers when itโ€™s storming just outside the window. I joined the effort today with a sleep-in until 8, no storms though, just warm puppies piled on my pillow and around my knees โ€“ reminds me of hamsters all piled up in the pet stores. And of course we also have nose prints everywhere, I wipe off the side windows in the car just to be able to drive safely. They love to go on my Saturday errands and watch intently for my return each time I get out.

All this talk of the Nutribullet is intriguing. Sometimes I do better by drinking calories instead of biting into something. And I love bananas, the all-purpose smoothie base. I suppose a stick blender would do the same thing? Might give it a try โ€“ Iโ€™m doing a Sunday FD today with my bean soup later, trying to shake up my weekend porkfests a bit.
Doggy I was with you in spirit with the chocolates yesterday โ€“ for some reason I had a big chocolate hole that needed filling. And unfortunately I had something called โ€œcowboy barkโ€ to do it with. I felt every bit the criminal who plans to go to confession the next morning. Good luck with the new washer, we finally got a new Whirlpool after about 15 years and I love the new kind without an agitator.
AA, wow itโ€™s hard to get 10,000 steps in, good for you! After my dog walking yesterday, I took the little Aussie around the 3-mile trail in the nearby park and STILL hadnโ€™t hit 10k when I checked later. But close enough ๐Ÿ™‚ 9900+

Fit, I love the idea of having reunions financed as part of a doco โ€“ Iโ€™ve seen far worse ideas get financed so why not! Come on, Dr. M, help the girls out here. Iโ€™m already saving my pennies for Ireland, will need a bigger jar to ever make it to Australia โ€“ but all things are possible! Hope the day with your sis is good, you have such a cheerful heart and she is lucky to have you. And your OH as well! I know youโ€™ll enjoy seeing him again โ€“ maybe the sun will actually shine? Now I understand why there are so many lovely shades of green in Ireland. It is so pretty there I didnโ€™t even mind the rain.
SJ your trip plans sound ingenious โ€“ I hadnโ€™t heard of that travel club before, but what a brilliant idea. The actual home exchange sounds even better โ€“ how perfect! If you are ever traveling my way, we have a full basement apartment, with full bath and sitting room. Canโ€™t promise much in the way of breakfast as I usually skip it โ€“ ha!
PH you really do have the bug, what wonderful plans to use all the info to create spreadsheets for family members from your mumโ€™s diaries. They will treasure that โ€“ thank you for the idea, itโ€™s what I keep telling OH, if he doesnโ€™t sift through these mementos in some way, those precious memories will likely be lost โ€“ it will all just be a huge pile of stuff that gets carted out when we do.
Had a lovely talk with my mum this morning, she is rarely โ€œin the mindโ€ to speak on the phone but she laughed at my stories (whether she followed them or not โ€“ probably not). She is in a memory-care home and hasnโ€™t picked up in weeks. I loved hearing her laugh ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Wow this was a long one, hugs to all and have a great day friends — jade xx

Hi there Jade, good to hear from you while all the others are catching up on their beauty sleep! Yes, the windows in the house and the car have nose prints all over them….it’s a running battle to maintain visibility!๐Ÿ˜‰ Things ok with my sister but every day now it’s the same old story…..she says she’s dying and can’t breathe, can’t eat etc but then she does eat, especially if it’s something sweet. Her appetite has declined but since she’s quite overweight, that’s not such a bad thing at the moment. We are weighing her regularly to make sure nothing drastic happens. I’m glad you think I have a cheerful heart…… I do try but don’t always succeed!
I’m fasting today too because I’m going out for a meal tomorrow with a couple of friends from the first school I used to work in (I’ve only ever taught in two). So I’m looking forward to a good catchup with plenty of news and gossip and showing photos of my gorgeous girls who were both taught by my friends. I also taught some of their children so it will be fun reminiscing and hearing how they are doing now.
I was very interested to hear about SJ’s money saving travel and accommodation plans…..maybe we could set up an AD house swapping group? I’d be up for it….what do you think, gals?
So glad you had a good chat with your mum, a precious moment to store in your heart for when things aren’t so good โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’•
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend xx๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I think an AD house-swapping co-op is an awesome idea. Anyone who stays here would certainly need to practice their “wrong-side” driving, because there is no public transportation nearby. Lucky for any takers, though, we have an older spare car and the odd extra ding would never be noticed ๐Ÿ™‚ Any of this lot would be very popular in our tiny little town – the natives are very friendly!

You do have a cheerful heart, Fit, making the best of what isn’t always a cheerful situation. It can be hard to risk the sadness that is part of love. You could simply avoid time with your sis, but that wouldn’t be best for her. I feel the same way sometimes about trying to talk with my mum – it is often very sad, she was such a vibrant force in her day. Last time I could visit in person, she wasn’t even verbal – just hugs and tears. So, big hugs to you – we never know when we’ll be the ones in need but there is always someone in our lives who is.

Gosh being that philosophical almost wore me out! I may need to go back to bed now ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

Lots of posts overnight, it’s just after 5am here is Oz, didn’t go to bed until 12:45am & thought I would sleep a little longer than this!!! I bought another version of the Bullet a week ago called Ninja from Coles (our local supermarket) I love it too & I paid $69 just like you AA. I am also a member of the Affordable Travel group and have had several people come & stay, usually during the food & wine festivals. My friend also does house swaps & has travelled the world doing just that. She lives in Paddington Sydney so her place is pretty popular. And the last thing I want to mention that is something we have in common is my poor old mum is also suffering with the onset of dementia . I had a very beautiful, calm, genteel mother. Now she tends to be aggressive at times & just someone I would never have thought she would be which makes me very sad. I feel like I hav already lost her. I have made her a photo album of her siblings, her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren complete with their names and I am going to see her this weekend & present it to her. I hope she gets some enjoyment out of it. It’s turned quite cool here & I had to rug up last night?? Very strange weather indeed. Our plans for our trip to Vietnam & Cambodia are coming together nicely, I have booked ourselves into a cooking class which includes shopping for ingredients at the markets etc. My OH isnt too keen but has agreed to come along Which did surprise me seeing he thinks the kitchen is a foreign land. Fingers crossed he enjoys it as much as I think I will. Got to hand over the $$ today so that will seal the deal. No house swapping there I’m afraid. Did my FD yesterday (Sunday) because I am donating Plasma today. The FD went well just over at 518 calls felt a bit headachey at one stage but got stuck into the housework & soon forgot about it. Anyway good morning to this side of the world & good evening to the other. Hope this finds you all well & happy Barb xxx

Hi Barb, so sorry to hear about your mum too, it’s so awful that this condition has affected her personality. Your idea of the photo album is great and I’m sure it will help her and give her pleasure. I must look into the Affordable Travel group, it sounds very interesting. Your trip to Vietnam etc sounds amazing…..you’re very lucky!

Good morning-evening team ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s sad when families are touch by dementia. How fortunate to have the memories of how people were before the onset. It can be a cruel disease making an absolute stranger out of our loved ones. My heart goes out to all of you who are effected.
I had a chockie fix last night in front of the tennis, grrrrr, no need, no yearning, just gutsy! I got stuck into the Gulian shells mmmmm, but hope they act as a laxitive so weren’t just useless indulgence ๐Ÿ˜ Fasting today team, for most of us, definately needed by yours truely! I did sail along quite well with food choices, plus washing windows helped the exercise burn cals, but oh those retched chockies! No use feeling guilty, it’s done now, I enjoyed them and that’s all that matters. Today is the beginning of a new week, so BRING IT ON! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I have the “Magic Bullet” and do use it quite often, but don’t follow any specific recipe, just throw in whatever fruit is on hand and enjoy ๐Ÿ˜‰ We have the strangest hue this morning, it’s sunrise but very strange, still wet under foot so must have had rain over night, but I slept through it all.
Shower time, then off to the pool and gym, stay strong team if fasting, remember, A POSITIVE ATTITUDE WILL LEAD TO A POSITIVE OUTCOME โ˜บ๏ธ So stick with your plan, YOU CAN DO IT, it’s only one day. Either try something new or the tried and true menu, try not to get stuck in a rut and make your fast boring, make it yummy and enjoyable ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ……oh the chockies just worked too ๐Ÿ˜• So I can kid myself they were medicinal ๐Ÿ˜Œ can’t I? Have a lovely day team and as you know, A bad attitude is like a flat tire, you wont be going anywhere unless you change it! Let your AUSSIE DETERMINATION lead to way, stay in touch, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and the day will fly past as another success โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’•Xxxxxxx

    Mornin’ CG!
Glad you slept well and that the choccies ‘worked’! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Yes it is a new week, so new focus and determination……let’s see each week as a chance to start fresh whether the previous week went well or not. That way, we don’t get tired or jaded….we just build on what has given us strength and ditch anything (or anybody) that hasn’t.
Enjoy the pool and gym, but don’t pull or strain any more muscles ๐Ÿ˜€
I’m hanging tough on my Sunday fd, even though I had to eat lunch with my sister because I couldn’t have left her eating by herself. So it’s been a really long day since then and it’s only 8.15pm…..eek!๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Hi Fit ๐Ÿ’ Yes it seems harder to fast when not our regular days or routine…you hang in there dear friend, I know you can ๐Ÿ˜‰….I’m starting the week at 73.2k so wrapped the 75’s seem to be long gone โ˜บ๏ธ I know it’s a slow haul from now on in but don’t mind sitting around this weight. Each fast from here on in is a bonus to a healthier life style and maybe some more fat down the gurgler, stay strong as only you can do it! xxx๐Ÿ˜œ

FIT here us the URL for affordable travel club. http://www.affordabletravelclub.net/

Morning CG. Thanks for the pep talk. Just looking at the weight you are starting at…..I found myself lusting…oh to be 73.2kg ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

    Thanks Barb ๐Ÿ‘
Still hanging in there….might have to go to bed early though!๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿค

    Thanks Barb ๐Ÿ‘
Still hanging in there….might have to go to bed early though!๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿค

Oops, posted twice! Obviously the brain is not working so well…..it’s too busy telling me I’m not hungry and don’t need any more cals before I go to bed!โ˜บ๏ธ

Give in FIT, hop into bed and snuggle up.

Well done Aussies – good to hear of all the success here. Fit get thee to bed, and the hunger gremlins will retreat. Bed = safety from storms and gremlins ๐Ÿ™‚

Barb how exciting to hear of your plans for the trip to SE Asia – I do so love hearing about that area of the world as a tourist destination. I’ll leave it to you all, though – Australia is ahead of it on my bucket list.

CG well done with the 75s in the rear-view. Smooth sailing with all the assorted 5:2 benefits from now on. What a glorious feeling not to be in a rush, and truly appreciate the benefits. A useful skill at our stage of life, for sure.
I am nailing my FD here, and gosh it feels so good – weird after my usual Sat night cocktails that usually get blamed for Sunday cravings. Maybe it’s the sunny days we’re having and the endorphins from all the dog walking. Three at once today, and that was a tangle especially carrying the little sacks of you-know-what (we were in the village by then, otherwise I’d have looked the other way!). Or maybe it’s just the energy from declaring a FD? Who knows, I had better not think about it too hard and just carpe diem. Love checking in here when I have a blissful relaxing day like this. xx
