Good morning!
Sorry that I missed posting last night!
Doggy….. You and your doctor are absolutely right! People with their bodies out of whack do seem to suffer from low self esteem. I believe that doing something good for our selves makes life a little more bearable.
I was raised by my sister and she always told me.. When you wake, always no matter what get ready, never slop around in your house coat. When asked why, her reply was always the same…. How are you going to feel if you miss something great because you had to wash and get dressed first?
I don’t know, if it was her what of making us self sufficient or to improve our self esteem but what ever it was it work! I always get up, washed and dressed, this girl has yet to miss a great opportunity!
PH…… Congrats on the weight loss….. Performing the happy dance for you…. I can’t dance so picture it, a little wiggle here, a little wiggle there. It’s okay to laugh…… I know I can’t dance!
So, yesterday was my day off…. I actually got everything done! Now, the rest of the week will be a bit easier. I did nibble a little mindlessly yesterday as well as I did not drink enough water. So today, is FD, time to get on the straight and narrow.
1 week ago was my first FD, so the results are in…….
12/31/15……. 160 lbs
1/7/14…….. 156.4
That is a loss of 3.6 lbs
Fantastic, if you ask me!
Running a bit late today, so I am off!
Hi All!
Up – good idea to swap the fast around; no point in pushing things and then feeling bad if you don’t make it – you are in control and will do this in your own time π
CG – very wise to have a siesta, especially to keep you out of the hottest part of the day. Hope all well with your furry friends too! Xx
PH – great to hear you’re still enjoying the bridge and lunch with pals and that your weight stayed the same….result!!!! Woohoo!! Tinted moisturiser is a great idea as it saves time and gives you a little colour and it’s lighter on the skin. I always use products that are at least factor 30 too for added sun protection.
Dawg – I totally agree about the feeling of well-being that comes from putting on make-up and how it contributes to self-esteem. I often put on a bright red lippy when I’m feeling down or facing a challenge – it’s almost like armour!!
SJ – I’m in awe of your jam and chutney making – very industrious and they must taste so much better than shop bought versions! π
Barb- well done on the 2nd fast; tummy gurgles etc are probably just a sign that your system is adjusting to this wol; drink plenty fluids and keep up the good work. π
Barata – good to hear that you’re still sticking with 5:2; best of luck!
Toady – sorry to hear about your tooth problems, yuck!! I have broken a small piece of tooth and I’m off to the dentist soon too; it’s not urgent as it’s not hurting at all but I still hate having to go.
WB – stay away from the leftovers; they’re deceptively calorie laden. Calorie counted meals can be a great way to make sure you’re eating the right amount of calories until you get into the swing of things but fresh is better once you get on your feet.
Bert – that was great advice from your sister; she was wise beyond her years, I’d say. Also, a fantastic loss…brilliant!! π
So, we had no real damage due to the heavy wind and rain, thank God. I’m off for a routine breast check this afternoon, so my poor little boobs will be even more squashed…..eeek! As if they weren’t small enough already!! π Talk later folks! Xxxx
Wow Bert you’re off and running! What a great first week loss – WELL DONE!! Great motivation for you to hang in there even on the bad/hard days. Hope you can stay on the straight and narrow today for your FD.
Thanks WB for your details will add you onto the list & post soon. I do keep some lean cuisine meals in the freezer but only for unexpected events etc. Don’t use them regularly. I’d suggest spend some time getting yourself some really easy fast recipes/meal ideas that you can turn to again & again for FD’s & ones you know the kids will eat. And usually with a bit of manipulation you can make them work for a FD – smaller portion, leave out high cal ingredients, substitute some things to make them work for you. But basically protein & vegies is the way to go. The protein is essential to keep you feeling full for longer. The only days I’ve caved in on I’ve noticed that I hadn’t had much protein at all.
Barb I did have some reflux at the beginning of 5:2. Not sure why & it didn’t last long. I think I drink more water now & that certainly helps.
Well finished the day at 455 so all good. Bought some new scales so I didn’t get another fright in the morning but expect I’ll still be up from my pre-holiday weight. Might take next week’s fasts to get me back in shape & ready to go down…down….down. Would love to lose another 5 1/2 kilos this year to finish at 64kg. Don’t really mind how long that takes so long as I don’t plateau for tooooo long! Hope you all had a good day & most are ready for weigh-in tomorrow. By the way PLEASE don’t compare your weight loss to anyone else’s. We’re all individuals on our own journeys & we’ll all lose differently. Some of us have got heaps to lose & others not so much & it all affects our losses. Just take what you get even if it’s only .1 or .2 cos it all adds up over time and it ALL counts! suejen XXXX
Hi all β I peeked at the scales this morning and as much as I love hugging, these new slacks are not letting up with it. No surprise, still 2 lbs up from the bacchanal and on my short stature I can really tell. I’ve lost 15 but gunning for the “last 5” which is a psychological goal of sorts – either way, it’s great to have the tools to stop the infamous back-slide in its tracks.
I so agree with all the comments that βlooking goodβ makes one feel better, whether itβs from makeup, clothes, hair, or just slapping on a smile. Weβre all here because we care how we look and feel, so I hope I didn’t imply I’m a slob – I just canβt use as much makeup as I used to (do like those tinted moisturizers, PH), my eyes are sensitive and the rest tends to gather in my wrinkles and have a big old party. Bert, what a wonderful big sis! I grew up with just brothers so no beauty tips but I do remember my mom always spruced herself up even after my dad died. Speaking of opportunities, she did remarry π and to a lovely man who was wonderful to us kids. Carpe diem!
Ah, Iβm at work again on a FD so I guess I should actually work β Iβll catch up on the posts later (but did catch that Fit is getting the boob smashβ best wishes for a clean report! and hope the rains aren’t lashing any of you too badly) – enjoy your day all – xx
Hi all, weather calm today, no rain or wind so far. Bit of sunshine peeping through! Time to get the washing machine going!
Suejen, an update for your list.I live in a little town called Tanilba Bay in NSW,my name is Danuta.Port Stephens is our district.
My fast days have turned out to be Tuesdays and Fridays and I weigh in on Saturdays. Just suits me better.
Doggie, I’m off to the hairdresser’s this morning and enjoy being pampered. Have learnt to always wear makeup and dress well, even when going grocery shopping. If I don’t I’ll meet three people I know and feel embarrassed! π
Morning all.
Thanks everyone for the comments , and the dance, re maintaining over Christmas. I must admit to being quite chuffed with myself.
Agree that it is a good practice to get up and get dressed straight away and it does do wonders for your personal pride and self esteem …lately I’m afraid this little black duck loves nothing better than to slop around the house for a while in my dressing gown with no bra..( I always make sure I have nice dressing gowns). I can’t do this on the days I go to the pool at 8am but on the other days just love it. Guess I got used to it when I was laid up after all of my operations and had to be in bed for so long. Can’t not have a Bra on when I get dressed and feel so uncomfortable lying down with a bra on. The benefits of getting older I guess..never used to do it before all my mobility problems.
WB. I don’t like cooking either. Is your problem just on Fast Days or every day? Does you OH usually do the cooking for you and him? I’m guessing you cook for the kids earlier. if that is the case and you are hungry then you could have Hard Boiled Eggs pre prepared and have one when the kids have theirs and you then should be able to resist the temptation of the left overs. As CG says keep them till the next day and have a fry up for them for one of their meals. Or are they leaving stuff because they don’t like it?
Do you have a crock pot? On the internet there are lots of Recipies. Just search “freezer to crockpot” and it will bring up lots of web sites for meals where you can prepare the ingredients , then freeze them in bags ready to put into the crockpot and when you get home dinner is ready. Worth a look. Preparation takes about one hour on the weekend for a weeks meals.
This comes under the banner of Be Prepared and Plan. You can do this and as CG says don’t be hard on yourself. Not everyone loves cooking but these days there are so many ways of making it easy …even for me…my OH does all the cooking now but that was not always the case and I made very good use of my crockpot when the kids were growing up. Good luck and remember…You are now a member of “Aussie determination “. We can do anything we set our minds to….
Have to get up now to go to the pool. Catch you all later..
Mornin’CG! – hope you have a good weigh-in and a great session at the pool! I’m having a good FD and feel I should be under the 500 cals. Not expecting the scales to have good news for me but that’s ok; because I know I’ve stuffed up this week. But, I’ll be finishing the week on a good note, knowing that I got back on that bucking bronco! I’m getting over that wall and myself too!! π
Jade – 2lbs is nothing; not even one kg! You’ll get rid of that in no time! My poor boobs are feeling sorry for themselves; honestly, I think the service should include re-inflating them after that abuse!! Even if it only lasted temporarily, it would make up for the awful squashing!!
Noots – enjoy the sunshine and the hairdresser’s – all good things to put a smile on your face π
PH – doing what makes you comfortable is also very important; so a nice dressing gown can work wonders too, especially if you are laid up. I had to spend a month in hospital before my first baby was born and I always had nice pj’s and dressing gown and even put on light make-up every day…it helped to me to feel less of an invalid.
OMG I can’t believe it. I have lost 2.4kg!!! Is that a fluke, I have never been so successful ever on a diet. Thank you ALL for the encouragement and happy thoughts, it has been great being part of this team. I always love to hear what others are doing and pick up on little ideas and tricks. Sad to hear about the devastating floods north & south, fire down the bottom of the country when is this all going to stop. Good to hear sunshine peeking through this morning. I will also look into pre preparing meals, that’s the one thing I can’t get my head around. I did boil some eggs in advance so that was great having them there when the hunger pangs start. I will probably slow down a bit with weight loss from now, I am sure it’s just the extra water flushing out my system to start with but I am one happy camper. Back to sewing with my GD ππHave a great day/evening everyone.
WB – scales are just one way to record loss but measurements are even better because then you know you’re looking well and your clothes are fitting better too.
Barb – remember we get alot of fluids from the food we eat, so on or after a FD it can be easy to get dehydrated and so, constipated. Drink even more water than you think you’ll need and hopefully, that will solve the problem.
Hi everyone. There are quite a lot of posts to read so excuse me if I can’t remember who said what. Firstly on men doing shopping. I never seem to learn. Whenever I send my hubby to buy something, he invariably comes back with at least one wrong item. When I ask why he got this instead of that he usually says well I thought “we ” could use it. “We” seldom does any cooking and then it’s only a BBQ.
Back to the makeup. I don’t spend ages putting on foundation and very seldom use eye make up. I’m at the age when I’m aware of trying not to look like mutton dressed up as lamb. Just a touch of all in one base and powder plus lipstick.
WB I think it was you who asked about Lean Cusiine or the like. I often buy LC Malaysian Laksa Chicken soup that’s 178 calories. I too don’t like cooking but usually just get on with it.
πππ¦π·π¦π’π¬π³
Wow, too many posts to comment on so am not even going to try!
WB, when I first started I used the frozen Birds eye steamed fish and also steamed veg packs. It was the only way I could manage because I didn’t want to have to deal with food. My family either put up with the same or got their own, my husband often made himself eggs on toast!
Eventually, I got used to it and found it easy to do something simple like steak and salad. To this day, about14 months, I have not cooked one recipe from my many FD recipe books. No doubt one day I will be sick of my fasting meals and will try something else.
These days my husband fasts with me so that is much easier!
Also I never leave the house without mascara and lippy and everyday I wear facial sunscreen. It makes me feel much better!
I am always well manicured and have been since about 13! My mother always had beautiful nails so I just followed on. My nails are no longer strong and long to my eternal disappointment but I try to keep them looking good anyway.
Evening!
Wow today was a busy day! I don’t think I sat at my desk once! FD went great as usual. Still having a bit of struggle getting my water. Seeing as I didn’t sit at my desk all day, I now can see why my bottle left a nice little water mark on the desk. I didn’t drink it. I guess there is always tomorrow. I figured as long as I don’t give up, I can always improve.
I had a cup of soup before work, did not get my egg because the husband left early for the rosary at mass today, then to finish a list of errands and paying bills, I needed to done before Friday. Then some soup at lunch which ended up being so late in the day, I could have passed on it but a co worker said she’d cover me if I wanted to have.
Of course I said yes, just to sit for a spell.
Tonight I just had shrimp and veg for dinner…. All totaling a whopping 379 calories for the day!
Fit…… My sister was an amazing soul. I get all of my strength and wisdom from her! She took a lost soul and raised as her own when she was just a baby herself. She was 18 at the time, heading off to college and discovering the world, then I came along, she dropped everything to create a home for me and show me so much love and a day never went by where I didn’t feel loved…. I lost her 3 years ago, two days before my birthday and I miss her everyday. Sorry, I could go on forever about her!
Sue and country……. Thank for the great encouragement, it’s wonderful people like you that makes this new wol so easy!
Jade….. Keep strong, you’ll get to your goal!
Barb….. Way to go! I’m doing cartwheels for you! At least, I can do those fairly well!
Well, my fine friends I am off to spend a few minutes with my boys before I head to bed. May peace be with you tonight!
Hi Fit
thanks for the kind words – I told my son – he said if he had ten to chose from, never mind a million, he probably wouldn’t choose me!!!
And that was AFTER I made him his favourite lasagne!!!
Such inspiration from everyone, have a great weekend and looking forward to doing my bit when I get back!
travel hopefully!
Yes we are a lot of busy posters aren’t we Up. Well my new scales gave me no joy this morning at 71.6kg but it’s going down. Next week’s fasts should see me back at least into the 70’s and eventually back to 69.4….my lowest. Then my goal is 64kg so not too far away but is going to be slow. May do a Mon/Wed/Fri fast & see if that helps.
We have a massive bushfire in WA – south of Perth but a long way from us here, though we did get ash all over our outside cushions amazingly. The smoke plume came right down here & we had some eerie light with it. Not sure yet but sounds like lots of homes lost. Fire is still not contained or controlled. 3 towns were evacuated.
The weather here has been pretty torrid for us down south. We usually miss out on the higher Perth temperatures (that’s why a lot of us live here) but we’ve been 33 – 36 for several days & humid so not fun. My energy has all got up and gone & not great for sleeping. So shall keep this post short & go get some brekky. suejen XXXX
Barb must say congrats on the weight loss FANTASTIC!! Jade hang in there remember the Pantene ad…”It won’t happen overnight BUT it will happen!!” WB the tape measure is JUST as important and the scales will follow. XX
Noots thanks for your extra info.
Wow I knew yesterday wore me out. It was actually 39o! A bit hotter than I thought. sj
Praying for the firies who are still heading up from here (and most of WA) to battle the blaze & those who have lost homes. It was a 100km front yesterday. Thankfully no lives lost yet but one firefighter was badly burned.
Oh SJ I was the fires in WA on TV this morning. My heart goes out to all those people affected. The heat you are having sounds grim. I think you and I need to have a mini competition to see who can reach their goal, weight th soonest. I’m currently hovering at 71 kilos and my goal is 64.5. It’s not going to happen any time soon as I still her guests and find it all too hard to fast while they are eating up a storm. Then we are going overseas next month and will be attending lots of social events so I’m not even going to kid myself that I’ll be fasting then. Maybe this time next year ! In the meantime I’m in good health, still able to get out for walks and cope with all the domestic chores plus shopping and other fun things we woman seem to have to do. For those of Yu who like q bit of a mental challenge. I’ve an app on my iPad called Elevate. Every day it sets out some challenges , be it Maths, spelling, punctuation, reading etc. I enjoy it and it helps keep the brain active.
XX Doggy
Oh the fires β praying for relief and safety for those affected. So scary.
Congrats to all on the good news at the scale β Barb, wow thatβs amazing. Isnβt it fun to have something finally work! WB you lost inches, so thatβs a loss. PH well done on maintaining over the holidays and having such a good time doing it β a just reward for that vacation FD. SJ love your attitude, not exactly joy but going down, YES. Fit, you too β the horse will take you there. Itβs great to look at our efforts positively, so thank you all.
FD today went slightly awry when OH suggested going out for BBQ. Weβve been through some stuff lately with family, so he wanted to kick back and I agreed. Fairly well behaved, 2 ribs, a few bites of brisket, a quarter of a small bun, maybe 10 shoestring fries, 3 inches of beer before switching glasses with OH π then drank water. Why is water so much better in restaurants? Anyway, now I can go insane trying to tally that on MFP.
Ah Bert, I had a feeling from your earlier postβ¦Iβm so sorry you lost her. You seem to radiate joy and enthusiasm, and no better tribute could be made. Glad you are here with us! Xx
Oh no, UP, now the manicure too? I canβt do those either β go crazy scratching it off as soon as itβs on. But hey all, I do color my hair! Because I look like Morticia if I donβt, so gotta draw the line somewhere. Noots, you look great, I should go to your hairdresser (a bit far away, right) but I typically color and highlight at home, with the cap and hook and all that β itβs actually good cardio, whew. HA Doggy, a mutton dressed up as a lamb! Just the image when I overdo the blush or go too red on the lips. And CG you had me going with your good-morning post (before I realized the typo) when you said βrushing off to shower henβ and I thought oh my, she washes the chickens too? I started to wonder how far you all took this thing!
Fit glad you survived the squashing! Yes, they should reinflate them after! I mean really. Or invent one of those for the glutes β π
OK now for a fun session with MFP β canβt wait. Oh Doggy, thanks for the Elevate suggestion – I’m going to check that out.
Stay safe all β jade xx
Hi all. Back from the pool. We have loaned my daughter my car whilst she has all of her visitors so hubby had to drive me to the pool today. Talked him into doing the class with me. Boy did it open his eyes. He could not believe how energetic it is. Could not keep up with all the old girls in the class. Now has finally realised he needs to do some exercise so made an appointment for an assessment at the rehab centre and then they will advise him what is going to suit him As far as exercises go. I have been trying to get him to do this for a couple of years now so feeling very proud of myself for tricking him into the class.
Bart. Can just picture you doing that dance for me. Good first loss . Well done girl. Can you see me doing a dance for you??πππ
Toady. Nice to hear from you. Hope your tooth is better.
Fit. Love the comments about inflating the boobs once the squashing is over. They have to take two pictures of mine as can’t get it all in one so I have a double squash so then it would have to be a double blow up as well πππ
SJ. Have been watching the fires in WA on TV. Hope it gets contained soon. It must be so hot there. π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯. Look after yourselves and keep the fluids up. Well done with your weight loss so far and I am sure your will reach your goal one of these days. I I aging the last part of the journey is much harder than the first as you have all the plateaus to contend with. Slow and steady wins the race and I will be there with you in that area this year, along with quite a few more of the thread.
Barb. WOW!!! Smashing .. 2.5 Kg. As you say the first bit is usually some fluid but saying that you. Use have been very good at sticking to your plan. ππππππ. Well done. So glad you are having fun teaching your GD to sew. Such a rewarding thing to do.
UP. Great that your OH does the fast with you. Makes things easier I imagine. You are also at the final stages of your loss when everything gets a little harder. Keep up the good work. β β β I’m the same with the FD recipe books but found I don’t use them. Just re adjusted the tried and true so that they have less cals.
Doggy. Time to enjoy yourself especially if you are going OS. As long as you are maintaining and not blowing out then time enough to get the last bit off when you get home. You certainly have had a lovely lot of ti e with family.
CG hope those scales are good to you and everyone else who fasted yesterday and has not reported in yet.
Hope you enjoyed the pool. You
Afternoon team ……I have been MIA over the past few days. So many wonderful posts . Congratulations to all of you with your awesome losses.
Our country is showing her hash side with winds fies and rain. We have really battened down the hatches over the past few days on the coast. The SES has been out cutting the fallen trees that have caues road clousures as well as the flooding that saw the mid coast cop a wopping . The water level rose to just blow our lower garden retaining wall…….such funπ¨π¨π¨ππβ
βππnnow sunny with huge surf.
Weight today is 74.6kgs…….have I broken this plateau.?
Will be away the next week as am leaving for Sydney to see my MUM.
Keep up the good work ,look after yourselves. GO GAL XXXXX
Well been a bad fire day here in WA. 97 holes lost in one town of 500 people plus the pub the post office half the school and a hall and the fire station. Basically the whole town is almost gone. The fire is still heading towards Harvey which is a much larger town. The road between Perth & the south-west is closed unless you want to do a very long detour. So quite a few people have had to stay here longer until the fire is contained. They don’t expect that to happen until Sunday…thunderstorms on the way. The huge fire has also created its own weather pattern apparently and causing windstorms & possible lightning to occur.
Wow GG that was close with the water for you. Enjoy your time with your mum and do hope you’ve broken the plateau!
CG one quite old dairy farmer in Yarloop (the destroyed town) stayed to keep his home and dairy cattle safe. He brought them all into his yard! He did lose other animals though but he’s safe & the cows are safe.
PH I too loved the thought of CG washing her hens! But then ……we shouldn’t encourage her as she might just do it!!!
Doggie you’re on!!! I’ve accepted your challenge to a mini competition to see who gets there first. We’re about the same weight & our goals almost the same PLUS we both have overseas holidays this year to throw us out so sounds pretty fair to me. So let’s keep a really close eye on each other. Hey must look up that Elevate too. Sounds like I would enjoy it.
Well almost dinnertime. Must admit it’s been so hot I really don’t feel like eating much so it’s not going to be much of a meal but might have to provide more for OH! suejen XXXX

Been over at my daughters all day. Our wee grandson has changed so much since we last saw him on Boxing Day. It was lovely to have our son and daughter together again.
I did my weigh in this morning and was very pleased with the result – 71.4 kg which is a loss of 1.8 kg. It was probably just water but I will take any loss no matter what it is. I needed that to spur me on.
FIT – I was glad you explained yellow status too as I was wondering what it was. I live in a very high fire danger area and being new to the valley we went to all the fire info sessions. Our fire plan is to leave the valley on EXTREME fire danger warnings which is one below the most dangerous. We have
LOW, HIGH, VERY HIGH, SEVERE, EXTREME and RED ALERT. At EXTREME we go and stay at our daughters which is about an hour away. We had three EXTREME days in a row the weekend before Christmas. We took precious things with us, legal documents and medications and stayed away until the warning came down again.
The recipe book I am using is THE FAST DIET RECIPE BOOK by Mimi Spencer with Dr Sarah Schenker. It has a little pic of a plate with asparagus and egg on the front. There are some delicious recipes in it.
SJ – I absolutely love veggies so that side of it is not an issue. The more veggies the better. I am also an avid juicer and juice mainly vegetables.
DOGGY – While we lived in Qld my OH cooked all evening meals. He worked from home and absolutely loved cooking so I have not really cooked for 26 years. I did a little when I was on holidays but it was rare. Having now retired I am enjoying getting back into it but the over zealous bout of baking resulted in quite a few kilos going on!
Tonight is was Melt In Your Mouth Pot Roast. I put it on in the slow cooker before we went out and it simmered away for 9 hours. I love the slow cooker and will be doing lots of souls in the winter.
With regard to makeup – I have not worn any for years but always have a bit of lippy on when I go out.
SJ – My OH did most of the shopping. It was easier because he cooked. He is pretty good at it. His dishes are very varied covering many cuisines.
Well, it is late and I am going to take myself off to bed. Maybe a little read before turning the light out.
Just been reading about winds and bushfire that devastated Yarloop β photos and video clip were unbelievable. So sorry for all affected β stay safe Aussie friends. SJ hope those thunderstorms can help dampen things (but no more flooding! GG glad the waters receded). So sweet, the story of the dairy farmer protecting his cowsβ¦.
A bit envious of the cooking OHsβ¦pretty sure mine would live on pretzels and cheese w/o me. I can imagine what heβd return from the grocery with β mostly stuff we have and not the stuff we need. Good thing one of us enjoys cooking and the other knows when the cook needs a night on the town.
Yesterdayβs FD was a bit over, and salty, so no loss, but wow do I feel hungry and rather saintlike for my iron-clad restraint last night. Iβll cheer the rest of you while I wait on the sidelines π Still quite happy to live this way. Off now to do a clean-out-the-fridge soup with leftover rotisserie chicken, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, etc. and NO CHICKEN PARMESAN this time lol. Genie that Melt In Your Mouth roast sounded fantastic β must give it a try. Can anyone tell Iβm trying desperately to skip breakfast by writing about food instead actually going in the kitchenβ¦ Oh and Doggy thanks for the tip about Elevate, I downloaded and had quite the workout in the prelim tests β did NOT do well with the maths, no shocker. Cheers all – jade xxx
Hi All!
Even later posting today as I took the mutt for a walk while the weather allowed and then was off doing the regular chores for my sister. Weigh-in as expected…about .9 of a kg up on last week so 66.7kg for me today. But it’s over a kg down on where I was earlier in the week; so now I have no goodies left in the cupboard and I’m feeling better about not overdoing the non FDs. Wish me luck!!
Dawg – I have a most unusual OH – he does most of the shopping and all of the cooking and he’s excellent at both. It’s usually me who forgets to buy the one vital ingredient I was sent off to get!!
SJ – what awful stories of loss and tragedy for so many communities due to the fires out of control. I hope you stay safe, dear friend xx
Jade – you always give me a smile…can’t stop laughing at the idea of CG showering her hens!!! You will have losses soon too but remember, not gaining is also a success; so hold your head high and keep soldiering on!!
UP – I try to keep my nails nice too but I did so much housework and scrubbing before Christmas that they are all broken and weak at the moment….even though I wear rubber gloves all the time doing housework. So time for lots of TLC, I think. I love getting those three week manicures, but they are hard on the nails so I only get them done for special occasion.
Bert – I can feel the love for your sister coming through the screen at me. She is still with you, that’s very clear to see and you are paying great tribute to her by living a good and healthy life. XXXX
Milena – best of luck with your trip and hope all goes well with the jewellery dealing.
PH – well done on getting OH to start on the exercise programme; it will be wonderful to see him getting fit along with you xx
GG – glad the waters didn’t reach your house; you must be so relieved. I hope the weather improves for you π
Genie – congrats on your great loss, well done. Very wise to have your escape plan for fires but how scary to have to do that.
CG – yes, we are all going to progress or stall or even gain in our own ways and at our own pace and that is very important to remember; because it is a wol and we want to stick at it whatever happens in life or however we’re feeling. There will be times when it’s easy and times when we stuff up; but if we just keep going the general trend will be down and that’s why we need to just keep going. I also keep reminding myself that there are lots on invisible health benefits going on on the inside and that’s worth all the ups and downs. Hope you enjoying your weekend and having pleasant and comfortable weather. Xxxxx
Morning all, beautiful day and all is well in my little part of the world.
But I did stuff up big time last night and enjoyed every moment of it. πΉπ·π«π«π«
Enjoyed the night watching the tennis Federa played first in Brisbane and then watched the Hopman Cup. Kyrgios played well for Australia in the Hopman Cup. Too bad he is such a smarty pants. Hopefully he will grow out of it like Tomic did. Australia green into the final so that should be good to watch. I do love my tennis. Anyway had a few glasses of scotch and opened a packet of chocolate coated goji berrys and managed to eat half the packet….I will have to do some serious Fast Days this week to make up for that.
Then after lunch today we are having a sports day at our house for all of daughters friends. Have hired the tennis court next door and set up croquet on the lawn beside the tennis court. So it will be fun to join in the frivolity. I can at least play croquet. Followed by BBQ for everyone before they go back to her place to sleep. So looking forward to it.
SJ just read the news that they have at least managed to slow the fire down just a little. Hope they get it under control some time soon. Stay safe.
Jade . Hang in there. The losses will come especially if you keep feeling saint like with ironclad restraint.
Same with you FIT. Now that you have finished all the goodies left over from Christmas things should start going in the right direction.
CG. Hope you are having a well deserved sleep in..
Well must get up and start preparing salads ect for the big day. Have a great day/night allπππππ
Hi all. So much for my fast day. I was doing Ok until I visited a friend who had been away. I had been checking constantly for a champagne delivery for her so she wanted to thank me by sharing some with me..
At about 6ish I took the dog to the dog park and ended up flat on my back after my dog and another ran full pelt into the back of me and knocked my legs out from under me. Apart from back and neck injuries, I somehow managed to end up with an “egg” on my forehead (phone, sunglasses? who knows?).
Anyway, I am ok this morning if very sore and sorry. I have excellent posture because my usual slouch is more painful. But last night someone went down and got fish and chips for dinner, which was bad but good, because I was incapable of cooking!
I was lucky that the friend who owns the other dog is a doctor so she looked after me until I could be “collected” by my family.
I hope your days were better than mine! π
Hi all, congratulations Barb on your big loss. I also lost a bit this week. On 1 Jan I was 63 kg and this morning, 9th, was 61.8. Now to keep going down. My FD yesterday was tough. Felt really hungry about 8 pm but had a glass of water and it helped, and I didn’t eat :-). This morning I couldn’t eat all my porridge, yogurt and fruit.
Uptight, hope you are OK. At our age, any fall really takes it out on us. Hopefully you landed on grass, being a park. Rest up.
A grey day here so far but washing is going out as it’s due to warm up later.
PH – glad you had a good time and enjoyed a few treats; I’m sure you won’t have gained much. You are so good at doing the FDs you will kick any pesky kg to the kerb!! I used to love playing croquet when I was at boarding school and I have often wanted to buy a croquet set, but they are very expensive (well, you can get cheap ones but they wouldn’t last long)
UP – gosh, that must have been quite a shock for you; I’m glad you’re not too badly hurt. Allow yourself to be pampered and looked after – enjoy!
Noots – great loss; woohoo!!
Mornin’ CG!! Are you having another lie-on or are you already out gallivanting? Hope all ok with you xx
Thanks N but gee you must be a tiny person. I will never be 61kg unless I am extremely ill. Congrats on your weight loss. On my best day I would like to be 70kg but am happy if I get to 75kg. I have never met any of you but share my most inner secrets (even on a Facebook page!!!) I suppose I am concerned about looking saggy, at least when you have a little “beef” on, you don’t look so wrinkly so I will monitor the “wrinkly” bit from 75kg onwards. There’s positive thinking for you, I know I am going to get there.
I am thinking of you all whether it be floods, fire or drought. My heart goes out to you only good positive thoughts are coming your way.
Up, good grief, glad youβre OK and donβt have a concussion! Those dog incidents can happen so fast. Well done though, having yours with a doctor on site. Hope you continue to feel better.
Checking in to see if our fearless leader is around, but no? Hope all is well in your world CG.
Congrats Noots, Barb, Fit, Genie and any others celebrating downward trends and cheers to the rest of us for maintaining. PH your party sounds like huge fun, wish I was going! I love tennis too, I remember a class in college in which we had to name our heroes and I said Billie Jean King and everyone laughed at me because of course they all picked Jesus or Gandhi or the like. I mean come on, isnβt that setting the bar a little high? Not that I came close to Billie Jean but at least there was a shot.
Fit, I have also FINALLY finished clearing the pantry of holiday goodies, having scarfed the last of the chocolate pecans this afternoon. Just couldnβt let those go in the bin. But Iβm all set now for my ascetic January month of utter penance. HA, except tonight we are off to the pub, though just for pizza and wine so should be fairly tame. Good luck all and stay safe β xx
I have finally managed to get back into the swing of things. It has taken a while to get the body reset after time away from home. I am now back to my pre Christmas weight. I have a few cooler days to tackle the weeding before the next hot blast comes through tomorrow onwards. The thuderstorms completely missed me not getting a drop last week. At least the weeds aren’t growing. Everyone is now back on track with the upheavels at Christmastime.
