Good afternoon dear friends on this very hot one .. Xxxx

A lovely early morning walk then came back by 11am and decided to get the lawns done

Well sods law .. two neighbours came along one after the other and chatted..so the sun was full on by the time I had finished.. lol so that’s me now for the day. will go out sit and read at 4pm..

Nana .. well done with your lb loss… do you have much to go to goal now.

Sym… I have realised that wine triggers me to eat rubbish or more volume of food. I drank a lot while football was on…. put myself on holiday. I could see then what I had always suspected .. the wine is my eating trigger. I drink it and then want sweet rubbish . For some people its if they are sad.. or happy ..
I reckon everyone’s got an overeating trigger .. its just finding it. Wines out for me again now for a while .

Dave ..enjoy your bowls .. hope you win.

H H and Steve good luck if you are weighing today

Enjoy this beautiful day everyone.. ..Remember Your worth is never up for debate. You are more than enough. Xxxx

    Day 19 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.8 kg

Thursday FD done & dusted. It was a bit tougher than usual & I reached 10,600 steps 💪

@snowflake56 – it’s worth remembering that fasting isn’t just about weight loss, although I’m sure that’s why most of us get into it. Plenty of studies show it can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, improve heart & brain health, lower the risk of many cancers, help prevent Alzheimer’s & extend lifespan etc. I find the longer I go between fasts, the more difficult the fast is; my Thursday fast is usually tougher than the Sunday one. Which is why I’m reluctant to switch to 6:1. Making something a habit that you only do once a week – I think it’s just easier to throw in the towel after a while. But that might not be the same for everyone 🤔

@ccco – good to hear from you & to know you’re doing well 🤗

    Day 19, Germany, FD

@funshipfreddie and @stitchincarol I think my lack of motivation comes from the fact that I don’t really need to lose weight, my BMI is ~24.0 at the moment, I just like it to a bit less. July is the month with a lot of birthdays and this year everyone seems to celebrate. The next parties will be on the 27th, 28th and 30th. I’ll be glad when this month is over and I can go back to my daily routine.

@ccco Nice to hear you’re doing well, just take good care of yourself.

    Day 18 – USA/TN- NFD

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

G’day, it’s great to see you! I’ll trade you some of that cold gloomy weather for the dry, scorching sun forecasted at about 38 today. We had several days in the low to mid 30’s this week, so that was a break. Glad to hear that you’re sleeping well and that your weight is holding steady.

Cinque, I sometimes wonder what is going on behind my fridge too. Who knows what comes out in the darkness of night? I hope it isn’t anything like the huge bug my sister saw when she was taking the dogs out late last night. I think it was some type of beetle with long antennae. I’m sure it was over 5cm. It was just sitting there. I’m pretty sure they can fly so we went back it the house and left it alone.

I agree with all of you that keeping FD’s simple. Last time I almost always ate a tin of salmon that was 160 calories for lunch and a can of Lite soup, cheese enchilada and vegetable or something like that which was under 200 calories. I made up the difference with vegetables or fruit. They no longer make that soup but I’ve been trying a couple of others. I like having everything I need stocked in the pantry so I don’t have to make any decisions for those 2 days per week.

Today is a FD. Yesterday I ate a fair amount of food, even some ice cream after dinner. I felt really full when I went to sleep and figured I would show a gain in the morning. But this morning I was 100grams less! Go figure.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Jean I kept telling her to watch them before I knew what was happening, she had over 100 Emmerdales to watch and 40 corrie.i keep up to date but she watches lose women and this morning instead of watching her soaps.

    Afternoon All..
A very hot day, a bit too hot dare I say.
I got the grass cut and bed changed and washed.

I have struggled today fasting I am finding it hard at the moment. I have finished about 500 but a hard slog.

    Hammy.,
Well done on the 2lbs off, I am really struggling..
Lovely walking this morning a lovely breeze and warm.

    Dave..
You are a tech geek…Denise won’t be happy loosing her programmes..

Hoping your friend soon gets better, hard going with stroke.

I am not looking forward to weighing tomorrow..

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Afternoon everyone, a very warm afternoon here. A lovely visit with Auntie earlier she really is an amazing 91 year old.
Have been very good with my eating this week so fingers crossed for a loss tomorrow morning on the scales.
A lovely visit yesterday afternoon with my friend who had the stroke, we were allowed to take her in a wheelchair to what is called the concourse at Addenbrookes hospital and had almost an hour with her enjoying a coffee. Luckily her speech and memory were unaffected by the stroke and she’s able to use her right arm and hand with hardly any difficulty, she just needs to get her right leg stronger. Drs have said they’re looking to let her have home visits next week.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

    USA. Day 0

I am still reading emails, although not writing much! My surgery for my brain tumor went very well, although recovery will be a long haul. Right now, I am not trying to lose any weight because I lost too much weight from all this! Maybe I will learn some new eating coping skills from all this and not put all the weight back on. Right now, all plates of food are overwhelmingly too large!!!

    Stitchincarol, good observation! 🙂

    Good for you BrightonBelle!

Good message,FUNSHIPFREDDIE! It can apply to many things, like my recovery!

Know I am still here and will participate as soon as I can!

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

Day 18 – Rural Nebraska, USA – OMAD

I haven’t weighed yet this morning, so I don’t know just how much I gained from the simple act of putting food inside my otherwise-empty belly, but I do know that I ate well yesterday–all except for a few cookies I didn’t try very hard to resist. I made my Mom’s oatmeal-raisin cookies yesterday, just mixing the dough and scooping them all out, and baking a few, and it’s like getting a hug from her to taste those. I froze most of the scooped balls, and will leave some here (I used a GF flour, so they’ll be okay for DS32 to eat), and the rest I’ll take along on our trip for the granddaughters (I’m hoping to keep them frozen so my daughter can keep most of the dough in the freezer, and bring them out in batches). It makes me smile that my Mom used to be the grandma who made those cookies, and now I’ll be the grandma who makes those cookies. 🥰

@molij How lovely to have a friend to do 5:2 with! May it bring both of you extra RESOLVE! But, I wasn’t very clear in my post: my goal is to lose weight, but I’m only succeeding in maintaining (rather than gaining, however). So it’s nice to know I have a plan that will more or less work when I reach maintenance…but I have about 25 pounds to reach that sweet spot. And I absolutely agree with you that enjoying the local foods is part of the holiday experience. I remember @ihatelettuce however, who used to stick to two FDs a week when he and Mrs IHL went on trips. That was VERY inspirational, and I’m holding on to the idea that it’s not unreasonable, and can be something I choose, rather than something I try to force on myself. Have fun visiting grandchildren!

@jaifaim What joy for me that you also didn’t get David’s quote about the stick, LOL! Have a lovely time with friends and family!

@bert1802 I’m glad you’re 100% again, and I’m still scowling to think of that owner who was reluctant to cool down his business sufficiently to protect you!

@snowflake56 I’m doing fine with motivation at the moment, but I’m sure familiar with the lack of it to do a FD; you are so strong, however, that I’m sure it’ll show up again soon!

@funshipfreddie Now, today’s quote makes perfect sense, and is so lovely!

@excelsior12309 Loved your detailed suggestions for staying hydrated; thanks for sharing. And may your motivation positively LEAP out of the doldroms and keep you on track all day.

@northgeorgia As I was thinking about your struggles, and relating them to my own, I wondered if a trick I’ve employed in the past would help you: don’t bother denying yourself anything…just insist you have to wait fifteen minutes (or however long). Once each of us gets going in self-control, it’s much easier to continue on in that habit, but I at least am a far distance from showing self-control all day, every day.

@merryapple Timed out?? Interesting…I’ve not had that happen. Are you on your phone? And, what time did you go to bed? I’ve been trying to sort out what time/day you’re posting, based on what time the site shows. Everyone else I can come within an hour or so, but your time has me stumped, LOL.

Bunches of things on the agenda today (work at church, meet with our financial advisor, get the oil changed in the car), but all pleasant enough to do, and I’ll be able to knit while I wait for the oil to get changed. I thought I needed to do 8 more rows, but having come close to that goal, I think I need another 8, so I just knit away… As far as food, I’m going to skip lunch today, make it OMAD (should be easy enough since I’ll be gone all day) and then aim for fewer than 1200 calories–and put on my halo if I find the motivation to eat even fewer than that. Not sure that’s worthy of the pocket list, so I’ll stay off, but I’ll be thinking of you all!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 18 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 232 lbs. @stitchincarol yeah, you’re right! Through the workweek, I’m trying for an OMAD attitude. I just need to be careful of non-stop snacking, especially on junk if I do that. @funshipfreddie It’s funny how we “know” things but don’t practice them. I may try a different approach today by having water with a meal, and if I feel hungry an hour afterwards, try a small glass of milk.

I haven’t gotten below 232 yet this month, but we’re only a bit over halfway through, so there is time. Got to keep pushing downwards 😉

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 18-No. VA USA-FD 800

In the doldrums with motivation, but I agree with @funshipfreddie, tomorrow would not make me more motivated, so control is the message today!

@bert1802, we see dizzy teenagers who feel like fainting all the time, due to low blood pressure. If they increase their salt intake throughout the day, and increase their fluids, their symptoms get much better. Drinking plain water is not so helpful, as it does not remain in the circulation as long. So we recommend electrolyte drinks like sports drinks three times per day, 20 oz at a time. (60 oz per day) You don’t really need the sugar, since dizziness is rarely related to low blood sugar, so you can pick a sugar free kind like liquid IV or nuun, for instance. There are many available. Sodium is the primary actor here, not really the potassium they throw in. Eating a bit of salt and drinking plain water at the same time will do the same thing.
Unless someone has significant high blood pressure problems, they do not have to avoid the salt.
If you are drinking enough, you will be going to the bathroom a lot during the day! Good luck to you!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone not a bad day here. I’ll be alright when I get all my Samsung stuff, I’ll have data coming out of my ears, now virgin have told me I’ll be updating to the 360 box which is supposed to be their best one and it won’t cost me any more. Denise is not happy though because she will lose all her soaps she’s recorded on the old box. Loads of Emmerdale and Corrie, fortunately I can get the ones I like on catch-up elsewhere 😁😁. Waiting for the new remote control to come through the letter box.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Welcome back Cali and hello Suzy. Just a quick check in.

Still struggling with the cold gloomy weather here. I’ve never known a time where the sun has been awol for so long, it’s unheard of in these parts. I been using the dryer so much the last month as it’s impossible to get the clothes dry on the line, overcast, drizzly rain on and off, not enough to put water in the tanks unfortunately.

Weight remaining steady as I missed my last planned extended fast so no loss to report in the last few weeks.

Sleeping really well, struggling to stay awake past 8.30 pm lately which is not a bad thing as I’m up at 5.30 am everyday so very happy with an average of 9 hours most nights. I’ve cut back on how late I have cups of tea, nothing after 5pm to try to avoid too many middle of the night loo visits 😂😂

  • FLY in JULY🧨 2024

    Day 18 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD – Mandela Day

@snowflake – I’m not feeling motivated either, but… it’s Thursday! It’s become a habit now – little motivation necessary. I don’t need to feel motivated to brush my teeth. Sometimes I cast my mind forward to tomorrow. How will I feel when I wake up in the morning? PFDS, or disappointment in myself? I’m not going to feel any more motivated tomorrow; in fact, just the opposite – it’s Fri-yay! 🤪

@northgeorgia – totally agree with the milk! I only drink it in tea/coffee, but the skim & low-fat stuff is vile. I find I need to add much more to try to get the same taste.

@molij – it must be nice to have a fasting buddy. I’ve never found anyone in SA who’s willing to try it. They just think I’m eccentric 🤪

What a beautiful day again not a cloud in sight.. We must get over the fields earlier today its going to be a hot one.

Got on the scales this morning and i have lost 2 lbs of the 4 I had put on.. Its incredible really but that 4 extra lbs had slowed me down I Felt sluggish.

Dave.. well done on your loss.. you will soon be down to your next goal mark.

Steve .. Like you I am better not having any sweet stuff around..

H H I hope you are feeling better re your stomach that is an awful feeling seems to affect the whole body

Sym.. Sweet stuff seems to be like a drug once started you cant stop. I can have loads of stuff here and not bother but once started on cant stop.

    Day 17…Florida….NFD

Thank you so much for the well wishes. I do feel 100% myself and make every effort to take care in staying hydrated.
@molij…. I agree as I age, I find I need to remind myself to do things that I never used to think about…etc. drinking more water, to moisturize and so much more.
@jaifaim….. I wish that I could remember all he said about adding salt to my water. It’s definitely on my to do list to research it more. I never want to experience that so I’ll do what I can to avoid.

Today eating wise was okay….. I did have a hiccup, I ate a piece of danish after my eating window closed. I’m not going to let it get to me. I’m going to just move forward and hope for a better tomorrow.

    Have a great night!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good morning everyone,

SuzyQ that 200 breakfast and 300 dinner sounds so good.

As LJoyce said, the trick is to make it as easy and sustainable as possible. Nearly everyone needs enough in the evening to make sure they sleep at night so it makes sense to have the 300 then.

It is so good that we can just try different things, different days, different meals until we figure out what works for us.

My classic fast day last meal was always miso soup with veggies and yuba (dried tofu skin).

And my favourite part of doing 5:2: waking up the morning after a fast day and feeling so empty and light!

Here is the link to the recipes thread again: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/southern-hemispherites-fd-recipes/

LJoyce, lucky Sylvie the cat with that mousse!

Cali, wo you can tell it has been rough when 37c is a welcome change.
Yikes, who knows what is going on behind my fridge! :O
All power to your fast days. It might not pay off on your daily weighing, but it always pays off long term.

    Thin,
You have reminded me how having pretty much the same thing every fast day was not only easy, and saved a lot of trying to add up calories each time, but it made fast days a little set marker in the week with no anxiety about managing kitchen stuff, because it was all already sorted.

I am super impressed with your friend who cleaned behind the fridge every month. I rather wish I was that sort of person. (But I am not.)

Hooray for warm days, and Peak Forest Canal sounds beautiful.

Neil, I am so glad to hear about your better week. Hooray. (Sympathy to broken-rib man though).
Haha re Lachlan. It does sound like it should be spelt with an ‘o’ and maybe a ‘k’ in there too. And then if you think of O’Loughlin surname it can get even more confusing.

And another haha with teenage eating! Aren’t they powerhouses.

Hi Anzac, O that jacket! I am glad you didn’t pay full price.
Keep on keeping on, you do so well considering how high pressured your work life is.
Did you manage fast days this week?

Haha SuzyQ, I am up to your ‘things not to do on a fast day’ post. Wasn’t I clever to start 5:2 after my daughter left home!
I am also someone who watches a lot of cooking shows and reads a lot of recipe books (my favourite books to get from the library) and yes, best avoided on fast days!
I think I was lucky though that I found it fairly easy just to know I wasn’t eating that day, and be firm. I could go out with friends and happily sit on a coffee while they ate.
Mind you, I did a lot of thinking about what I might eat the next day!

I am so glad you worked out you can have tofu instead of eggs. What a versatile food it is!

Cali, glad to see your call out to Intesha. Intesha, time we had an update! I am so keen to hear how you are going, and hoping you have found a good place to live.

Well, it is still wintery here but the sun is out!
    Sending best wishes to everyone

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Morning Cali,

Lachlan is an old Scottish name, and unsurprisingly means “from the land of lakes”

I like it because it’s usually shortened to “Lachie (Locky)” which is cute

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Thin, I think that 2005 expiration date was actually in my pantry when we were trying to outdo each other with old food items. Jars and bottles of condiments are the things most likely to grow old in my fridge, especially more unusual items that I bought for a specific recipe.

Neil, I had to laugh at your son forgetting the spelling of his middle name, but he’s right, they are usually written as just an initial. I love the name Lachlan. Where does it come from? You’re right about weight loss or gain sometimes showing up many days later. Yesterday wasn’t a FD for me, but my weight was exactly the same as the day before, after the FD, even though I was eating normally. I even had a small amount of ice cream last night. And my jeans feel slightly looser. Still, it would be nice to see some movement on the scales.

Anzac, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a lizard behind our fridge. We used to have a lot of little lizards in our back garden but we had a few cats from the neighborhood hanging out and I think they probably chased them away. I noticed a few lizards with part of their tails missing. I think they may grow back. We would occasionally find a lizard on the kitchen floor.

Suzy, I use tofu quite often. I’ve made chocolate pudding with the silken tofu. Just add cocoa and whatever sweetener you like, and put it in the food processor til it’s completely blended. I’ve also made onion dip with it. Just add a packet of dry onion soup mix and blend it. It’s hard to tell the difference between the version with sour cream an cream cheese. Tofu is so bland that it takes on the flavor of stronger flavors that you mix it with. Silken tofu can even be mixed into mashed potatoes to up the protein content. But I usually eat the firm tofu, cut into cubes with soy sauce, garlic and a bit of lemon pepper spice.

LJ, I’ve been looking at the penguin videos you sent. It was funny when you said that visitors were required to stay 3 meters away from them, but it was sometimes difficult when they were walking all around in different directions.

Intesha, I’m happy to hear that you are getting the chance to travel, but so sorry to hear about your father. Turkey must be a fascinating place to visit. I haven’t gone back and read all the posts yet, but hope you are having a wonderful time. You deserve it. When you get back and find a place to live, I will be looking forward to seeing more or your fabulous cake and cookie decorating.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Feed them at that age when they’re asking for food, they usually need it. As thin says, my younger boy is 16, going through a growth spurt, and trains and coaches parkour several times a week and is constantly eating. There’s been times when I’me made a whole roasting dish full of pasta bake. My wife, older son (18), and I have eaten half of it between us. Then my younger boy has come home from work, eaten the other half by himself, and then stuck his nose in the fridge to see if there’s anything for dessert. This is the same boy that when he was 10, asked me how long dinner was going to be, I told him it would be ready in 10 minutes, he paused, then asked if he could have a sandwich while he waited.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

I loved all the fridge stories! Especially the lizards, Anzac. CalifD, eew, did I really have something in the fridge from 2005? I am quite particular about cleaning the inside but there could have been jars of who knows what. You’re right, there’s no chance of hoarding with this bar fridge that I have to use now.

SuzyQ, yes, it can be tricky at first to watch family members eating – at least yours is a little ten year old ballet dancer. Spare a thought for Neil with his two hungry teenage lads. You’ll get to a point where nothing bothers you on a FD – in fact, it’s quite a smug feeling to be in control of food rather than the other way around as most of us have been in the past. If I am ever feeling that I’m missing out, I just politely explain that it’s a fast day and that I’d love to save it until tomorrow. Straight into the fridge or freezer. I never feel obligated to eat.

Neil, that was such a funny story about your boy not knowing how to spell his middle name.

We’re stuck on the Peak Forest Canal near Manchester for a day or two due to a downed tree. At last, three warm days without rain.

    Day 17 – Ireland – FD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾

Hi all and thanks for all your well wishes… I had a good FD yesterday in the end (but over 500) and was tempted to do a LFD today but that may change as my tummy is starting to rumble. I’ve a busy few days running into this weekend so felt it was worth putting the effort in when I could…
@bert1802 how shocking! You poor thing! I hope you are feeling much better now….Yes keeping hydrated is so important but it is also so important to replenish with electrolytes particularly in extreme heat – we use tabs in our water bottles etc when cycling as we lose so much with sweat but some Himalayan salt (or any salt) will do…
Great cycle @molij 👍 and fab weather for it!

@funshipfreddie ahhhh I see the light! ✈️ fair play to you!
    @merryapple 🙉 🙉🙊 with this talk of sourdough… if only I could… my favourite!
I have to run… so sorry I can’t respond to all but have read and enjoyed all the posts. Back tomorrow…

I’m hoping to be in the 18 stone division next time🥊🥊🥊

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Afternoon all

Like many of us I do find it much easier on a fast day if there’s no chocolate, biscuits or sweets around to tempt me or the day after when we can eat normally.

When the movie The Grey Man was released I thought great a biographical film on John Major but fortunately it wasn’t anything to do with him.

    Dave

A small loss is still a loss and a positive result I’m hoping for something similar the next time I weigh myself.

    Day 17 North Wales FD

Having a successful FD so far. Not feeling as hungry as I did on my last FD. Been to visit a friend this morning who has decided to do the 5:2 too we are going to co-ordinate our fast days to give each other support. I have told her about this forum but up to now she hasn’t expressed an interest in joining. I have also been on my bike for an 18 mile ride. The weather is beautiful today.

@stitchincarol do you find it difficult to motivate yourself when you are in the maintenance phase? I would find it difficult not to put weight on when on holiday as I love trying or the local foods. To me that’s part of the holiday experience.

@northgeorgia I find cleaning my teeth gets rid of the hunger dragon and boy can that dragon roar on some FDs.

@bert1802 I do hope you are feeling better today. I have been to Florida so I know how hot it is. It is certainly very important to drink lots of water. As I have got older I sometimes have to force myself to drink as I don’t seem as thirsty as I used to be.

@merryapple I would love to make sourdough but my hands are not good at kneading. The reason I am not doing daily weigh ins because I hate to see the scales go up. I am much more motivated seeing them go down or even stay the same. I think I have lost weight because my stomach does not look so big when I look in the mirror.

We are going to visit two of our Grandchildren tomorrow until Sunday so I will probably go dark for a few days. I will try a check in if I can but I think I will be busy playing.

    Have a good day everyone

Got weighed and I’m exactly 19 stone so a small loss, happy with that.

    Day 17 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 160.8

Yesterday’s WF wasn’t terribly tough, and I got through it successfully, but my weight this morning isn’t any lower than a week ago, so I’m clearly “maintaining,” not losing. My challenge for now is to be sure I don’t gain on our vacation, and then to be glad a second fast day (in the form of a second day teaching piano) will be here soon.

@merryapple Yeah, when bread is ready, it’s ready. What a glorious smell to lull you to sleep when you finally got to bed, though, right? And, by the way, from the times I’ve successfully lost significant weight, I didn’t complete my “shrinking” until a few months after I was done losing weight (and in the same way, I didn’t actually gain SIZE for several months after gaining POUNDS), so be prepared to continue shrinking. ❤️❤️

@bert1802 You poor thing! What an awful way to learn the lesson of remembering to drink your water, right? Are you 100% now, or still a bit wimpy?

@snowflake56 What a delightful group you described!

@funshipfreddie Oh, DUH. Never thought of the “stick” in an airplane, LOL. And taking in t-shirts? That’s a bigger challenge than the woven shirts DS27 is tackling, as knit fabric is far more difficult to sew and have it come out smooth. However, doing it by hand will be more likely to give you good results; good luck!

@brightonbelle I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to be stymied by @funshipfreddie‘s quote yesterday, LOL!

@northgeorgia Okay, your weight is up because you didn’t eat well on Tuesday evening–but did you eat an extra seven or eight thousand calories? I’m rather doubting it, so get to assure and remind you that you didn’t gain two pounds, but are simply carrying lots of food in your belly.

I have about 8 more rows to finish the body of the fair isle sweater, and got three rows knit last night, so am hopeful I can be uber productive today, tomorrow, and Friday, so that I can do all the fussing needed so I can pick up stitches for the first sleeve, and be able to knit on our trip…fingers are crossed that I have time and motivation and success in the midst of all there is to do to prepare to go! 🤞🏼

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 17 – USA/GA – FD

Weigh-in: 235 lbs. I gave myself a 5 hour eating window yesterday evening, while waiting on an important phone call that, due to a misunderstanding kept me in suspense for two hours. Anyway, the gist of it is that I threw all that mindfulness out the window, and realized way too late in the evening that I blew it. However, I realized something — a small glass of milk can kill the hunger dragon pretty effectively. I know it’s taboo, but the fats and proteins of whole fat milk can outweigh the calorie count drawbacks due to satiety. Gotta remember that!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone a bright sunny day. I’m not playing bowls on Wednesday now will have a rest. My knees are getting worse and my hip is hurting now as well. Think I need putting down. But will keep going. Got to get on the scales and not looking forward to it.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Happy Wednesday and Fast day to those busy with one.

I have discovered a few things to avoid on a Fast day …. shopping for groceries is a BIG NO and the cooking channel with any jamie Oliver shows , Bake-off , Tournament of Champions or basically any cooking series. But how does one avoid their 10 year old who is permanently hungry and eating? Pick uo from school – wants a snack, finishes ballet , wants a snack… and the “what time is dinner?” question 2 hours before dinner time. Heaven help me. But I love her to bits and bless her , she is as skinny as a rake ! (like i was once LOl)

So about the tofu Neil… I use it as an egg substitute – I cannot eat egg. I just cannot stomach them since a child. As an adult I can manage French toast and Quiche , but only if I cannot smell or taste egg. Definitly not vegan. My love for bacon, lamb and biltong (SA dried meat) is too strong.

Thinatlast, thank you for the link and welcome. I did miss it , but I have been having issues with my server and emails and all sorts of IT fun for a few days. I find a protein breakfast at 10:30ish kind of keeps me going until dinner time at about 7. The carb heavy breakfast wasnt as good.

Good Luck to those doing the “behind/ under” fridge cleaning. We try to do ours at the change of seasons or when spring cleaning the fridge or when forced to because the pen from the shopping list has rolled under the fridge.

Hugs all and stay positive x

    Happy 🐫 day all

    Day 17 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@stitchincarol – It’s ‘Fly in July🧨️’! So the quotes are flight-related. That was a sort of ‘tongue-in-cheek’ remark from a pilot. You’ve got me Googling how to tailor T-shirts now! I’ve been buying my T-shirts from the same store for years. But the last couple I’ve bought just hang like a shapeless sack, & I’m sure they’ve changed their supplier. I’m not going to buy a machine, but I can use a needle so I’m going to try to follow a tutorial I saw on YouTube.

    @bert1802 – wow?! That sounds nasty, & must’ve been quite frightening. I hope you’re feeling 100% soon!

@merryapple – I can handle the cold if it’s not very windy too. They don’t call Port Elizabeth ‘the windy city’ for nothing I don’t really have a coat, just a couple of jackets. I’ve got the car too, I just don’t like using it & prefer walking.

Gotta dash 🕺 Happy Hump Day! 🐫

    Day 17, Germany, NFD

@merryapple What a pity your brother lost his car in a way like this!

@stitchincarol We’re just a group of people that like each other and have fun together. One of us likes finding out how to do things on a computer and shows us how to do things. Another one knows a lot of shortcuts. One of us is just there for company and doesn’t want to learn anything. She’s good at making videos and putting picutes together. She made a lovely birthday video for my DH’s birthday accompanied by her playing the piano.

    Have a nice day everyone!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

It is just so wonderful to have you back with us Cali. I agree with Neil that the weight sometimes drops a day or two later. Same with overindulging can hit you later too

So busy at work so just a quick post. I mentioned that I was hoping to get into the brand new jacket I bought back in 2019 but I tried it on the other day with a zip up fleece on and couldn’t get my arm in the sleeve so I have given up as it was causing too much stress. I found another on online and it has arrived and is too big! No probs, I can get someone to run it in a bit. It fits well up top but looks ridiculous at the bottom. It was originally $150 and reduced to $60 so I can’t complain

Our fridge gets moved only if we have a lizard sneak in the back door and run under it. It is quite disgusting but…..I just don’t care!

Welcome SuzyQ, this is such a lovely and friendly forum. Good luck with 5:2. I lost 15 kilos in 2019 and sadly put most of it back on but I am never going to stop trying

Sorry your summer is pretty bleak Thin, that must be so frustrating given the short summer England has anyway

LJ we use our air-fryer in a similar way to you. I thought we would use it a lot more but it is handy for when we do use it

Must run, promise to try harder to post more
