  • I started this on Monday last week after listening to my friends rave about it (one is in the medical profession) I’m 58, female, a foodie, 20 kgs overweight, pre-diabetic and I have a relatively active life.

I bought the books, watched the video (found the link somewhere on this site) and thought – wow – what a good way to shift this extra weight I’m carrying – what a very ‘do-able’ way to lose weight!

so, after a week. Fasted Tuesday and Thursday last week – didn’t find it too difficult – drank lots of tea when my stomach rumbled and am going to try and find a healthier substitute – if anyone else is reading this any suggestions? The first feast day my stomach rumbled an awful lot but I didn’t give in and gorge – I ate normally – 2nd feast day the same and on the fifth day I had lost 1.5 kgs – the last 2 days not as careful. Had fish and chips for dinner last night, followed by an ice cream.

I also walked for 50 mins – hills mainly, so my heart rate was up – every second day.

When I weighed myself this morning I was back to my starting weight. Quite disappointing! However, I’m going to continue and give it a fair go. I really feel that this is such a simple way to approach losing weight that I want to remain positive about it. I also intend to stay more focused on what I’m eating and make an effort to shrink my stomach.

Any one else experienced similar problems?

Am a kiwi living in Auckland.

I’ve had the same thing – lost 3kg the first week and it went back on the 2nd, stayed the same the 3rd. I’ve calculated my food and not gone over TDEE on the non-fast days.

Despite the lack of weightloss I’m going to keep doing it for 3 months (I’ll due for some blood tests for a specialist then) and then evaluate if I’ve lost weight or inches or improved a couple of not great but not bad things.

I do have some health issues that make weight very resistant to loss, so it may be a longer journey for me. After the first couple of weeks the fast days are much easier so it’s not a struggle. (almost 51, 30kg to lose, trying to dodge pre-diabetic/diabetes type2, expat kiwi living in Sydney half my life).
