  • Weemam- great news. Wish him good luck from us, we will be thinking of him and you of course.

Just finished ironing and my parcel ( new 2 nd hand bowls) has arrived(been waiting for it all day, hence staying in to be the domestic goddess). So off out now in yet more rain to walk the dogs and visit my cat for a cuddle.

The bathroom renovations are finally taking shape and the carpet will be fitted next Friday. Hurrah- it’s only taken a month so far!

Ali- sounds exciting, I love dressing up for a posh night out.

HCB- what would we do without Yoga!

Ali, as I stated in my post, I’m not beating myself up. I gave that up a while ago as it is counter productive and I’ve been following this WOL for far too long to expect it to be easy.

Jo, lucky you to enjoy fruit teas, I’ve tried many of them and they do nothing for me. The only non black tea I like is mint so I tend to stick to water on FDs.

I’ve had a nice afternoon watching some terrific tennis matches and am now talking myself out of opening a bottle of wine πŸ˜‰

Hi Jojo well done on a very powerful post this week from you that has the funky monkey fasting Jason Fung healing hands all over you πŸ˜‰ I do like your renewed commitment and the more simple structures with no more calorie counting whoop whoop !!! Empowered phrases Eat only when you’re hungry and insulin resistance become the kung-fu panda and snacking the chop πŸ˜‰ very very good work Jojo. Jason Fung fasting youtube here

To hell with calories I am no longer looking at them or counting them. If you cut sugar and processed cards ( which I have) you don’t need to think about them. I will still have treats but they will be β€˜only’ on special occasions, wedding, birthdays, Christmas etc, not meals out with friends, not weekly or even monthly. No more Yoyoing for me!

When I posted earlier I hadn’t noticed that we had a new page

Wee, wishing Jim all the best for next Thursday. I’ve seen quite a few of the operations done as they used take xrays during the procedure. I expect they still do but it was 15 years ago before I specialised in Nuclear Medicine and of course now that I’m a lady of leisure I’m not up to date with the latest advances and techniques.

Jo, we’ve not had any rain today but I’ve had to give in and put the CH on. I went to bed fully dressed yesterday afternoon but decide I didn’t want to do that again today!!!!!

    I’ll believe tomorrow’s forecast for 24Β°C when I feel it………..

Good news Wee. Mr P and I will be thinking of you and Jim on Thursday. I’m sure he is pleased to finally have a date. X P

    Wee,

Glad to hear summer’s arrived with you too 😎 Particularly since you didn’t get summer at all last year!

It’s been 23, yes 23, degrees ( c πŸ˜€ ) here today and blue skies. Been into the Lake District for the day, wall to wall blue skies and stunning scenery, such a lovely time of year, and shorts and ice cream weather too! Couldn’t be more perfect.
    (yep P, we’ve been very English today πŸ˜€ ).

May you get many more ice cream days, Happy πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
In the mean time, I’m doing the warm winter cooking thing. Loving the change of season too. P

    Helooooo,
I hope to catch everyone this time πŸ™‚
To my vacation to London in July a friend told me not to bring too much clothes instead a suitcase full of English pounds πŸ‘

Ali – be fabulous for all of us at the red carpet 🍷

Wee – thinking of you and Mr Kee next week! My fasting comes so easy this year. I have no problem with 5:2 but as addressed by others watch for non FD.

RT – Our virtual brother … No more counting calories. Let’s all break free from and embrace easy and simple πŸ’–. Also been stauking Jason Fung as well. Looks like I am a serios follower. Thanks for the link.

Jo – it’s the bathroom remodel for a prospect tenant? We have an old building and don’t know where to start in terms of dollars name sense.

Cheers everyone! It’s the weekend. I might go to be big apple tomorrow. Fun and fun!

Be good my friend. Virtual big hug.

    Morning/evening all,

I think summer has arrived here albeit it cloaked with cloud this morning. The bitterly cold wind has gone and it is several degrees warmer so the windows and doors have all been opened and the washing is blowing in the breeze. It is going to get another 7 or 8 degrees warmer during the course of the day and tomorrow and Monday are going to be 25 and 🌞 which means that the air will be heavy with the scent of sunscreen and BBQ. I know 25 is sweater weather to you SHers πŸ˜‰ but to us it’s a heatwave so we must make the most of it 😎
I hope it continues across the UK for the next couple of weeks as Cornwall in good weather is fabulous!

FD today and lots of chores to be done. There’ll be ironing later (yuck, yuck, yuck) and I’ve plenty to keep me busy until dinner.

Have a good one everybody 😜

Cornwall in driving rain, for us last December, was a challenge. I hope it stays fine for you, Amazon. I’ll have to go back to St Ives to see the special light that attracts so many artists. 😯
We have storm warnings here, tonight, on the east coast. All we can do is bunker down. β˜β˜β˜” P

    Hi Everyone,
It’s warmer here but still no sun, very dull. Great for walking though, birds singing in the trees all is good with the world. Off to Essex today to visit family. It will only be carbs on offer for lunch but dinner in a restaurant so I can order healthily.
It’s my husbands bathroom we are renovating, I had a new one 10 years ago. We live in a very old house 1910 so it was due a makeover.
Thank goodness my neighbour cancelled our roast tomorrow so I can fast.
    Have a good weekend all

I was in Essex today too, Jo, the weather warming up fast. Had a lovely swim at West Mersea then walked round Northey Island. The fens were lovely in rather weak sunlight through clouds and a cuckoo was calling from the island. It’s expected to be sunny tomorrow so a walk round a large English Heritage house and a cycle are planned.
Hope your day went well too and meals were good. Enjoy your fast tomorrow too in contrast!

    Hi
We are in the middle of a massive storm…extreme winds, flooding rains. Our drive and street are blocked by fallen branches and I’m mopping up water coming in through my lovely old windows and doors. The storm is from the north east which is very unusual for here, usually from the south. So trees, windows and outdoor furniture, that are normally protected, are copping the full force. And the main storm, which has raged all night, doesn’t hit for another few hours!
Don’t you love it? Drought, fires, then floods! That’s Australia for you! (Google Dorothea Mackellar’s My Country if you need to know more)
    Have a good one πŸ˜… P

Hope it dies down soon, Purple and that the main one blows out quickly. Looking at the reports from NSW, it does look terrifying, causing some nasty accidents too. And all the mess to manage after! Fingers crossed that all’s well soon. A landmark storm, it seems.

I agree Apricot. Funny how storms are a combination of scary and exhilarating! I’ve been up for hours checking, moving, covering, tying down.
The funniest thing is, the apparatus on the new weather station that measures wind speed, has been blown away!!!!
I wonder what happens to the poor birds in these gale forced winds? They are certainty making a racket! ( Happy will know) P

You read that before I edited and took out the bit about scary and exhilarating! I read some of the storm reports and was dismayed by the amount of damage and life threatening elements. But yes, they are, I agree. Once my OH and I, with our two dogs, were camping in Ireland in a small mountain tent when a hefty storm came through, thunder, lightning, force 12 etc. we sat up most of the night keeping the dogs calm and going out to check the tent pegs and add more where needed. In the morning ours was the only tent still standing (small and low). Our neighbour with a camper van had roped it down with guy ropes thrown over the top, but chaos reigned elsewhere.
I expect the birds go into the smallest holes and crevices they can find, poor things.

Too much weather for a weather gauge! That’s something.

I guess, like being hungry gets you moving, so does facing danger. All part of our evolution.
We were trapped in our truck with our two little boys, years ago. A storm had brought down trees and power lines, way out in the country, where we lived at the time. My husband wisely moved the truck back slightly, once we were stuck. He saved us from the next tree falling right in front. We had to spend the night there and walk a couple of kilometres home the next morning to check our animals. My old cat never returned. 🐺 P

    Morning from Melbourne!
Yes RT, looking forward to the footy this afternoon, if I survive that long!! We are doing a DIY bathroom renovation at present and apart from the tiling, husband doing a great job on everything else. However, he has come slightly unstuck today with replacing cornices. We went a bit modern and tiled all the way to the ceiling on every wall, so had to remove cornices before tiles. Replacing them is proving something of a nightmare (as first timers!) Up and down ladders like a honeymooners nightie! And my man is not a patient type!

Purple I do hope you are ok and my namesake (your cat Annie) is not too stressed either! Sydney can have wild storms even in Summer. I hope there are not too many big gums over your house. Thinking of you today and no longer complaining about our cold and wet weather.

Dont get me started on ‘camping in storms’ stories! Don’t camp these days, too soft! Our Jayco campervan nearly got blown into the Southern Ocean at Wilsons Prom once, really scary stuff.

Quick hello and hug to Weemam too – will be thinking of you and Jim this week. What a relief you will feel when the surgery is over, its been hanging over you both for such a long time.

I did an ‘Amazon’ Fri/Sat with B2B fasts, 2nd day definitely easier than the first and pretty hungry now. But saving up for a roast dinner tonight. I will avoid the spuds and have stuffed some mushrooms to put in the oven instead.
Have a great and safe Sunday all x

Thanks Nama. Your namesake is fine…why would you leave a comfortable chair on a day like today! ☺
Her mum, however, is sopping wet. Just come back in after dragging huge branches off the road and clearing drains to let the storm water get away. As fast as I do it, more leaves and dirt block them. 😯 The wind has subsided a bit, just torrential rain and a roaring creek.
Gosh we enjoyed the veg soup I’d made yesterday. 😊
Ah, cornices…that brings back memories. ..the trick is to mark a line on the wall where one side is to start before gluing. Bl**y nightmare otherwise. P

So simple isn’t it? Why then do Diabetes Australia still promote insulin and frequent meals? Afraid to admit they have been making people sicker for decades? P

Hi Purple yes i couldn’t agree more 😯 πŸ’‘ It is though very empowering to see the on going evidence continue to stack up with each and every individual charting their own way along this our chosen WOL.
    RT

    Morning All,
Visited ‘Hanningfield Reservoir’ in Canvey Island, Essex yesterday, mild if not sunny weather, nice walk around the lake. Big area for fishermen and local beauty spot. Some very odd plants discovered, yet to be researched to discover names.. Our local wild flowers in full bloom, always good to see Daisy’s, Poppy’s, Campion and of course Buttercups.
Actually woke up with stomach pains today and feeling a little nausea. Food was not ideal yesterday, buffet and home made sponge cake with strawberries and cream made especially for us by my husbands niece. It tasted great. But she also made salad with smoked salmon, delicious. She and her Aunt have recently lost over a stone each and look much better for it. She has Downs Syndrome and has always been very overweight but is now tackling obesity with a Weight Watchers plan, not ideal but effective at the moment. I had Calamari with salad at the restaurant last night but I did indulge in a latte at a cafe after our nature walk in the afternoon. Damage limitation today for my sugar levels today. Playing bowls all day today and fasting.
PVE- sounds awful weather, thinking you and fellow Australians, hope everyone stays safe and there is not too much property damage. As a coastal area we certainly get our fair share of storms too, they can be very scary.
RT- good news ref. Diet Success and Dr M. My impression of my visit to Australia was basically typical Western World diet, too much meat, carbs and sugar. We all need to address what we are doing to our countries food policy. Meanwhile I read in a ‘child nutrition’ magazine yesterday that the Government Adviser for Nutrition for pre-schoolers recommended including ‘white bread’ as part of a healthy balanced diet yet came down on ‘too much fruit’ not being wise because of natural sugars. Seriously! At least she said forget soft drinks and cereal bars in favour of tap/ bottled water and no snacks. She didn’t say anything about breakfast cereals which I think is a major issue.
Apricot- Do you live near Essex then? It’s 1.45 hours from me, I am on the Kent Coast.

Well another lovely day here. I could get used to this!

P, I hope everything’s settled again where you are? And the birds have piped down?! What birds do in a storm depends on the bird. Some get caught up in it and just keep flying, but birds that perch have a perching reflex (what stops them falling off when they’re askeep!). They sense changes in barometric pressure, find a sheltered sturdy branch and just sit it out. The wind/rain of itself isn’t a problem, but birds can get chilled (particularly chicks) and the loss of feeding time and reduced food sources (particularly insects) can be catastrophic.

    We’ve had guests staying, but I think – no I know – I will be fasting tomorrow…

Thanks Happy. I guess our birds wait it out. The noisy miners make the most of all the fallen branches to find insects.
A fast after a good weekend always feels good.😊 P

    Morning/evening all

I guess the thing we know for sure about birds is that they’ve survived for a very long time so most of them will get through on instinct. The mynahs will be stuffing themselves on an unexpected bonus!
I love Australian birds and always spend hours on my friends balcony watching the birds that come to the table in her garden. She puts out seeds etc for them but it doesn’t stop the cockies destroying her sunflowers πŸ˜† If I’m really lucky I see a koala or two πŸ™‚

Purple, I hope everything is OK and there is no damage to deal with. I guess the rainfall is a blessing but not what brought it!

I got through my FD yesterday. It was a real struggle but nothing to do with hunger just wanting to eat. I am really pleased I made it to bed time as I’ve struggled this week. I’m doing ADF until I go away next Saturday due to social commitments on Tues and Thur which should work out OK :fingerscrossed: and I’m planning on fasting during the journey on Saturday.

I have some lamb in a Greek style lemon and oregano marinade from my BBQ book which is on the menu this evening and there will be some leftovers for a salad tomorrow. Not sure if it’ll be grilled or I’ll fire up my BBQ. I feel that I should in case today is the only day that is nice enough this summer πŸ˜‰

I also found a recipe for aubergine slices rolled up around feta, basil and sun dried tomato which I intend to try.
The schedule for today will be arranged around Andy Murray’s bid to win the French Open and the forecast for Paris is nowhere near as nice as for London so it might be tricky for them to actually get on court and play.

Have a good one everybody 😜

Amazon, the trouble always is we have no rain, then massive wind and floods. Not ideal at all.
We have the confusion here of two different bird species with similar names. The Indian myna, a small black import that arrives in flocks and the (indigenous) Noisy Miner, a grey bird, slightly larger with yellow on their heads. They live as pairs, with other pairs nearby and are very vocal if they perceive a threat (hence the name). They chirp loudly if my poor cat, who never goes near them, even if she sits inside a window!
The rain is still pouring down and the wind still blowing.
Your eggplant sounds good. We’ve just had crumbed veal steaks with creamy polenta, mushrooms, shallots and capsicum. Very yum. P

Sorry P, my bad. I know the birds you mean from your description.

My friends in Perth have a family of blue fairy wrens that nest in their garden every year, and they are so bold they come onto the patio and perch on the backs of our chairs. When they have babies they bring them too! I guess they feel safe and know they won’t come to any harm as even the dog ignores them.

I’ve just prepped dinner. The aubergines are a bit fiddly as I have to BBQ or grill the slices then allow them to cool a bit before stuffing and rolling and then reheating, but I’m going to give them a go on the BBQ along with the lamb kebas, jalapeΓ±os stuffed with a small amount of goats cheese that needs to be eaten, and a salsa. I’m calorie counting everything so I can happily eat leftovers tomorrow for my FD dinner.

    Can hardly wait 😎

The wonderful thing about good food Amazon. ..part of the joy is the preparation. I try to make something new every meal. That way it delays and enhances the enjoyment. The anticipation is part of gastronomic delight, isn’t it? No mindless eating for us! ☺ P

I enjoy the preparation and cooking almost as much as eating so couldn’t agree more.

I walked to the local supermarket this morning for some fresh salad and herbs and strolled back in the sunshine thinking about alternatives to the rolled aubergines and came up with several different ideas which will be tried at some stage.

Pre 5:2 there would have been chips and dips which are no longer part of my diet although hummus with carrot sticks and mint and yoghurt dip with cucumber would be healthy and tasty alternatives.
There would also be some crusty bread and a potato salad but such things are on hold until maintenance and it will be one or the other never both.

I need to put this from my mind now and concentrate on something else…….

    Good Morning,

Purple I hope by now everything is okay in your are there. I thing weird weather patterns or they were always and and we are in the middle it’s causing trouble everywhere.

I left the house on the 12pm trein to NYC yesterday. The meet up place was the Grand Central Station and we did 17.000 steps of walking. The only set back was my wrong shoes. After we went to the place where they are in Brooklyn by subway. The apartment it’s a beautiful loft overlooking NYC buildings and the night view was unbelievable … As always the Empire State Building rules.
Another two friends joined us later. The plan was to go out for dinner but we stayed and had sushi extravaganza.
We had a great time and arrived home past midnight. Later a graduation bbq party.
    Congratulation for you on 5:1.
    Be good everyone.
    Xoxo
    B

    Hi All,
All this talk of delicious food is making me hungry. Yet another cups required. Sun has finally arrived at 11.50 precisely so my bowls game this afternoon should be good. Cat fed and cuddled so it awaits owners return today. Lots of birds in this garden, blue tits, finches, robins dunnocks, parakeets and sparrows. Wish my garden had such a variety. I think I need more trees.
    Have a great day everyone.

    Hi HCB
Storm still raging here. We humans need to learn to not destroy this planet. Record temperatures, increased violent storms etc. We need to work together to beat this.
We were in NYC this time last year. Had a great time.
Don’t worry Jo. We fast tomorrow. ☺P

Amazon, my new hors d’oevres is smoked salmon on cucumber slices with a little dollop of plain yogurt/dill. I need to get some for my dinner party this eve!

Well broke my fast yesterday lunching with my girl friends in Amsterdam and hubbie just arrived back from London and wanted me to make home made baileys frapachinos!!! I had one without the milk and ice cream but guess that’s my fast broken again! There is always tomorrow. Heading back to Canada and to less socialising!!

Health coach – NYC is amazing! Did you go shopping?!!!

Amazon – your BBQ sounds yummy! Stuffed Jalepenos – did you grill them too? Recipe please!

Purple veggie eater – sounds awful with the storms. Keep safe.

Sun has finally come out in Holland but my hubbie never told me the air conditioning broke on the car……all the windows down doesn’t help much unless you are going fast!

Hi all. Jo, I live in Devon but was visiting a friend in Essex for the weekend. We found some lovely places, English Heritage and National Trust. Northey Island is the site of the battle of Maldon in 991. Lovely light across the marshes and a very cautious swim off Mersea, with the tidal stream quite strong parallel to the beach. Really pretty beach huts in different ice cream colours.

Mmm, some good recipes. Like the sound of the smoked salmon one KLo. Also the aubergine slices. I won’t be home till mid week so will just eat sensibly but not fast.

Fast day blown, started well but ended as a disaster. Try again tomorrow. Cause- exhaustion-1 hour dog walk then 5 hours bowls- now to sleep it off.

It’s good to read all the posts after being offline for a bit and JoJo, tiredness is one of the main saboteurs of healthy living / self care. A good sleep will make all the difference and I hope you have that tonight.

My books arrived yesterday and I realised I (double) ordered the wrong one (the 5:2 Beach one and the sugar one, which I did want). I’ve read about half of the beach one and there’s plenty of good advice in it. I have to say that I’ve never been so positive about ‘dieting’ before. It has really made me think about how we used to eat when I was young- porridge for breakfast with a tiny bit of sugar and the early bird always got the cream off the top of the milk; proper dinner in the middle of the day – small amount of meat, potatoes and vegetables with a glass of water; ‘Tea’ (as we called it) around 6pm was something like eggs (from our own hens) and toast and a glass of milk – and that was it! We were given a small sweet treat on a Sunday and we were extremely active.

I look at my son and see such a different experience. I feel guilty that I allow him to eat rubbish sometimes, much more than we did growing up (he’s 15) and watch too much on the computer etc. I don’t want a constant battle with him and sometimes (like this last week or so) he wants to take care of his health. I’m sure I’m not the only single parent who wrestles with not feeling like the best role model- anyway, I have a friend who says ‘progress, not perfection’ and I’m trying to apply that philosophy to the 5:2 lifestyle, as opposed to thinking of it as a diet – they’ve never worked (long term) for me in the past so the chances are they won’t in the future! If I can mend my eating ways it might have a positive impact on my son.

Tomorrow I weigh myself and I hope I’ve lost some of the 4lb I put on last week. I’ve been much better this week and and stayed away from sugar, so fingers crossed. I did eat ‘many’ bags of crisps yesterday – won’t say how many, so we’ll see.

All the best to everyone starting a new week….one day at a time : )
    Aine

    Morning/evening all

It is a beautiful summers morning here, blue sky, sunshine and warm. I’m not wasting it by going to the gym, I’ve got a couple of things to do and then I’m heading off to Kew for a walk in the sunshine.

FD for me today along with everyone else πŸ˜‰

The BBQ was good and the aubergine rolls were delicious. I’ve got some leftovers for dinner and I’m going to mash up the leftover aubergine slices with some yoghurt, spices and herbs and turn them into a dip which I can have with my lamb salad. Summer food for summer weather 🌞

For those of you who didn’t manage to fast yesterday, you can try again today πŸ™‚

    Happy fasting everyone 😜

Bad luck Jo. There’ll be another day. ☺☺
Amazon, I’m at the other end of the fast day, and seasons. Too cold for a fast salad, so some hot veg (leek, capsicum, bok choy, carrot) with zero noodle angel hair, lemon and cooked salmon. We need the warmth.
Today had been an easy fast (45 minutes to go), I’ve kept busy painting watercolour landscapes. All the best northern fasters. P 😊

    It’s hot out there 😎

Car cleaned and polished inside and out, tyres pumped, petrol tank full. It’s ready to go on holiday πŸ˜‰
We have self service petrol stations but there was a very helpful young man who took care of the tyres for me while I paid for my petrol. I was relieved as I dressed for the weather rather than the tasks to be done and am wearing a fairly tight skirt which isn’t really suitable for crouching down fiddling with tyre gauges πŸ˜†
The car gets cleaned by some very nice young men who have a business in the corner of the car park of the local garden centre so I killed 3 birds with one stone as I wanted a tarragon plant and also check out the soft play area in the cafΓ© to see if it is suitable for my great nephew.

Time for coffee before going to Kew via the shops πŸ˜‰

    Hi Fast trackers

It’s a beautiful day in the Castelli Romani, just south of Rome. It’s good to be out of France which is in a depressive mood at present. The weather has been awful, and there are strikes everywhere. My theory is that Easter was too early and there were half the number of May/June public holidays as there usually are (public holidays are never mondayized in France, 1 May and 8 May are both holidays but fell on Sunday this year). People have had enough of austerity before it even starts and also the rainy weather. France as a place to live in and to visit are two very different things. It’s a grey place with little relief in the towns. The country where I live is perfect as a place to live I should add, though I know the other situation too).

Today is a fast with a bit of food tonight (salad) and I just have to admire the big bowl of cherries bought a few minutes ago from an orchard.
Yesterday we ate in what I call a no B***S**** restaurant. They weigh the meat (of which there is plenty) you eat the most wonderful array of meats and cheese; artichokes and aubergine Γ  la romaine, eat the crusty bread they make themselves, and you drink the local red ( €1 per litre!)- so you do! This is a traditional taverna style meal and you can almost imagine the dogs under the tables waiting for the scraps.

The spring has over in Rome and fruit and veges are in abundance.

    Happy Fasting!

    xxx Sisi (today)

Hello everyone. I’m jut checking in and am happy to report the scales registered 5lb less this morning than last Monday. I was pleased, but I’m realistic! That ain’t 5lb of fat that just disappeared in 7 days. I had been massively overeating in previous weeks and restrained myself for this last week, allowing no sugar. The Beach diet book suggested twice weekly weigh-in so I’ll do that. A week is a long time and lots can go awry.
Best wishes to all Fasters, from North to South Poles and East to West πŸ™‚
    Aine

    Hi Wiwi,

Rome sounds like a much better option than France at the moment. Enjoy the rest of your visit πŸ™‚

I’ve been out all day and didn’t even think about food until I saw asparagus for sale in the market. Huge bunches of it for Β£1.50 so I bought 4!

I went shopping as I wanted a pair of cutoff casual trousers. I found a denim pair and they are perfect. I then proceeded to my two other favourite clothes shops for a look round and the grand total was one pair of cutoff jeans, one skirt, one dress, a long shirt, a linen shirt (fuchsia pink so impossible to resist) and three tops to go with both the skirt and the jeans.

    YOLO πŸ˜‰

I dropped my purchases off at home and went to Kew for a walk which was beautiful. The clever swans have kept all nine cygnets safe and sound and they look almost twice as big as last week πŸ™‚
I went into their plant shop and bought another salvia to replace the one that the slugs devoured and I’m determined they won’t be snacking on it.

I’ve had my BBQ leftovers. The aubergine dip was divine and it’ll be worth cooking aubergine slices that way again just to make the dip.
A good day well spent (pardon the pun πŸ˜„ )

    Hello,
Did have a busy weekend drinking and eating. I normally prefer to Fast on Monday but I’ll postpone for Tuesday and Thursday this week. My fasting success starts the day before with no drinking and an early light dinner.

I am not a shopper at all! My single purchase was a new brand of coffee I bought at the food court underneath the Plaza Hotel. I have so many clothes and shoes and since last year I am letting go of many things. Prefer to buy on outlets or when I need anything for a special occasion.

Wiwi I was again visualizing the dog under the table at that tavern in Italy. If sounds so interesting. Is it what they call “grotto”?

Amazon when I see veggies on sale I buy extra and freeze them.

Gorgeous here today after the rain last night.

    Good Fasting Fasters 😘

    Morning all,
Another fast day blown yesterday but I am determined to stick to it today. I am staying out of the kitchen completely, just drinking water, big bottle next chilled ready. I am so fed up with myself but know that I need to get one good fast day under my belt today or it will get harder for the next one. In contrast my bowling is going really well, lots of really good wins.
I am waiting for another repair man ( service my dyson vacuum) today but also taking the opportunity of gardening while the weather is good. I bought some big wall pots yesterday to fill with geranium cutting I did earlier in the year. I will strap these to my balcony railings, hopefully cover up some of the rust. I may even paint the fence today, it’s about 30 mtrs long and palisade so it’s a very time consuming job. Ukelele class tonight so a very busy day. Should help me stay on fasting track.
The ‘no snacking’ has not worked this last few days especially in the evenings when watching TV, we are still working through ‘West Wing’ DVD’s, compulsive viewing and it seems compulsive snacking. Mostly it’s been fruit and nuts but it has included a few sugary snacks. I need to break this cycle now, it’s so destructive of my daytime good eating habits.
Aine333, well done on the 5 lb loss. I hope to report some success by Saturday. Must get moving now, dogs to walk before my day of activity in the garden. Bliss that I can go out without a fleece.

    Morning/evening all,

Jo, reading your post makes me sigh with relief that I’ve never been one for snacking in front of the TV. For me once dinner is finished eating is over until tomorrow and it has always been that way. That is a good thing as I used to do enough damage during the day!

I hope you get through your FD today. Maybe if it is a warm evening you should stay away from the TV and sit out on your balcony with a good book and the sunset for company. Fortunately I can go for days without watching TV unless there is tennis although I am glued to Springwatch πŸ™‚

I’m very pleased to have got a successful FD done after last week when all I wanted to do was eat and not because I was hungry and my willpower was very weak. The fasting is easy, but the mental effort can be really difficult often for no apparent reason.

Another glorious morning and I’m off to the gym in a few minutes 🌞🌞🌞

Have a good one everybody 😜

Like the sound of your outings, Amazon. Clothes and Kew, what could be better! Sounds as if you’re pretty much ready for Cornwall. I like the sound of the Aubergine and lamb, must try that. Barbecued lamb is so good too. Once my OH cooked a whole shoulder of lamb on the barbecue, covered in herbs and with the lid on. It was absolutely delicious, took around two hours. We were going camping, so had some hot then the rest went with us, cold. Very nice with its smokiness.

No fasts yet this week as I’m still away, but yesterday’s meals were fish and veg, healthy options. Oh yes except for the banana split, hmm! And the wine. But long walks round Henley and Reading, the Thames looks lovely at this time of year and lots of ducklings/goslings were out with anxious parents.

Good luck with FDs today. And JoJo, what can you do to break that cycle? Nuts sound good though high cal. How about cream cheese wrapped in ham or in celery? Hummus dip with carrot? Hard boiled egg? A clementine for sweetness, or some strawberries? Might help the cravings. I’m bad too when I get on a carb trip, biscuits are my bad thing as they are too more-ish.
