  • It’s lovely here πŸ˜›

    Hi all
Getting my Fast on today! Family are going out to eat tonight, I will go too but I will have my home made carrot soup before we go and then just drink mineral water at the pub! Had 2 lovely sunny days up here in the north whilst my Uncle in the south reports lots of rain. Makes a change! My garden is looking better after a few back breaking days, need to buy spring bulbs for autumn planting next. Keep up the good work everyone, “we got this” as the Americans say!!

    Hi Iona,

Well done for volunteering to watch the family eat, I would find that really difficult.

I’m a step ahead of you as I planted some bulbs last week. I usually think about it far too late and I only succeeded this time as I was in the garden centre looking for something else and there were bulbs everywhere. I have a huge pot containing a dark red cordylline that sits outside the front door, and I’ve put lots of daffodil bulbs in it, plus some perfumed narcissus in a pot on my patio. I’m thinking about buying some more once I’ve decided where I have space to put them……

Come and visit me Amazon and Iona and you can take millions of bulbs home in your bag – if you can get them thru customs! When we bought our cottage at Jamieson 12 yrs ago, there were lots of bulbs already. They have multiplied and multiplied, to the point that I give them away now! The soil there is wonderful and the bulbs thrive in the cold. I planted some Peony Roses last year and am really hopeful of getting some blooms this year – shoots are peeping thru.
Jojo Yarrawonga is in Northern Victoria, 2 hrs further north from Jamieson and 3.5 hrs from Melbourne. Its known as a ‘bordertown’ as its right on the Murray River, which divides Vic and NSW. The climate is much warmer than Melbourne, they get very hot summers and beautiful winters. The drive there this morning was spectacular in the sun as we drove thru miles and miles of fields of bright yellow Canola, it looked amazing with the blue sky. But it does smell of cat pee! Almost 10 pm here and just home. Had to come home as we have to go to a 50th Wedding Anniversary Lunch tomorrow – our friends are getting seriously old!!
Just be glad you will be at work RT and not tempted by all the food we socializing retirees have to cope with! Good luck with the semi final tomorrow night, may the best team win! Hopefully it will be a great game anyway, whoever wins.

I’ve been to the mouth of the Murray river. We drove along the beach in the 4WD and had Christmas cake and coffee in the sunshine. Happy memories πŸ˜›

I’m home from a lovely family lunch. We went to an Italian restaurant and had tomato and garlic bread to share and a main course each. I was so dull I could barely move and had to change my trousers as soon as I got home ?
Excellent food and nice service made it all the more enjoyable ? ?

So dull you could barely move?! Isn’t it usually other people that get bored to death…. πŸ™‚

    Another typo ?

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat again………

    Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

‘I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree’ sighed the turkey, ‘but I haven’t got the energy.’

‘Well, why don’t you nibble on some of my droppings?’ replied the bull. They’re packed with nutrients.’

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

    Moral of the story:

Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there.
    Have a good weekend everyone

    Peace RT

Love that one RT … what a great way to start my day πŸ˜€

Well another week where I have not gained and considering that I’ve only managed semi-FDs that’s not bad at all.

One year has flown past and on the way have shed 18kg … I still have a way to go and so I need to regroup, refocus and get my A into G! I am still unable to exercise other than walking and I do lots of that at work each day (around 3k yesterday πŸ™‚ and at least 1k to 2k every day). It seems the weekends are my main downfall so I need to plan better for these days.

Had physio on my shoulder/arm last evening and was awake through the night with pain and around 3am took some pain relief with the hope of getting a little more sleep … sleep came around 5am but up by 6am! Nevermind I can have a sleep in tomorrow if need be πŸ˜€

Love reading everyone’s posts but don’t always get on the PC to respond.

We’re supposed to have some reasonable weather again today and this weekend so hoping to get out and about a bit too. Still a little cool but at least no heating required, and this has been so for the past few days, very happy when heating is not required as it means summer is on it’s way πŸ˜€

Have a fun POETS day one and all πŸ˜€

I managed to watch everyone eat and drink without caving in! Feeling good but careful eating tomorrow as I’m meeting old school friends for dinner. I will be driving so no alcohol tho!

AO with what you have been thru the last 6 months with your arm and shoulder, you are amazing to be 18kgs lighter! Many people would be at least 10kgs heavier! Well done, you have this WOL licked! The losses will start again when you can focus more, just maintaining at present is brilliant.
Iona well done to you to. RT is so right, so much easier not to start eating. But still a big achievement when out socially!
RT even if I was a Turkey I would not eat bullshit! Very funny tho, thanks. Pride came before his fall. Hide the carton of chips before the game tonight, just ration some out before the excitement starts….you may be out of control with the excitement!!!
Amazon if you made a list of the places you haven’t been to and compared it to those you have, I think the ‘haves’ would win! I love the sound of coffee and christmas cake, happy memories indeed! I have very happy memories of the Murray, we lived near it when I was a kid and my Dad loved fishing.
Off to the 50th Wedding Anniv lunch soon, need to pack the willpower for the buffet lunch – Jojo’s favourite!
Have a lovely Friday all xx

AO that’s a fantastic outcome for you from a particularly unhelpful year full of A series of unfortunate events good from you !!!
Nama as luck would have it Foodland have Smiths crinkle cut chips out for half price so I have stocked up πŸ˜‰ I have backed the crows tonight and surprisingly enough feeling very confident and really just want a good contest of course not a massacre πŸ˜† just saying.
Dockers over there though will be a much bigger assignment forward thinking.
As for attending 50 years of marriage anniversary celebrations in our circle I am sorry to say
That simply will not happen almost without exception our friends and family have either a partner now or a boyfriend or a girlfriend and one is same same in fact the 6 attendant’s at our own wedding and the flower girl have all separated the Paige boy still single πŸ˜†
Have a groovy day and bugger the restrictions get amongst all the yummy goodness for today we feast.
    Monday we fast.

    Peace RT

But you are forgetting RT, you and your beloved are still happily married! It will be 50 yrs before you know it! Just hide half the chips, now! And good luck! I am surrounded by Hawks fanatics, but I will secretly cheer your lot on!

Oh dear, the ‘finger food’ lunch buffet was all rather sad – party pies, sausage rolls, spring rolls and chips!! I was starving after no breakfast, but managed not to overeat as the food just did not appeal! I have become a ‘food snob’ I am afraid! The lovely couple concerned are not close friends, just ex work colleagues. They maybe should have just invited close friends and splashed out a bit on the food. Reading this I realize I sound pretty mean, maybe I am just anti social! Hopefully some salad and an egg for dinner will compensate…

    Morning/evening all

Nama. That buffet sounds very depressing, and no you aren’t being mean. I could have done much better than that by making stuff myself and it wouldn’t have cost any more. Well done for not overeating.
I had a small triumph yesterday. If I go out for lunch and have a couple of glasses of wine I often succumb to mindless nibbling in the evenings when I’m not remotely hungry and it can get out of control, so last night I got a few skin on almonds, roasted them in a pan with a little salt and ate them very slowly accompanied by a small glass of one of my favourite liquers. The almonds satisfied the need to nibble and the liquer sated the craving for something sweet and neither sent me over TDEE.

AO, what Nama said. You are doing great even if you don’t think so.

Another FD today. I’m enjoying the strict routine of ADF.I’m sure that will pall eventually but I’ll keep going as long as I can.

I am not in the mood for the gym today so will stay home and see how much of my old workout I can remember.
Tennis to watch this weekend, Davis Cup SF, GB v Australia in Glasgow πŸ˜›
    Bring it on Smiley

Have a good weekend everybody ?

Thanks Nama and of course it is remiss of me not to acknowledge your future daughter in law who is the fanatical kind as i recall πŸ˜‰

    Afternoon all,
What a fab day it is. I went shopping this morning and came home with two pairs of trousers and four winter tops, all size 12 πŸ˜›
And if that isn’t enough, Andy Murray has just played a fabulous match Smiley

    FD going really well!

    Hello from autumnal France
I have been AWOL for a week due to visitors and not managing to fast. Today’s fast is quite difficult, but should finish happily.
Congratulations, Amazon, on downsizing. Also for Andy’s win. Good thing Scotland did not go independent.
So next fasts for me are Sunday, Tuesday(in France) Thursday in Italy.
The swallows are in abundance here at present, but it seems we will fly south before them.
Leaving France is not easy as there is a pile of jobs to do.
    Happy Fasting
    Wiwi

    Wiwi,

I counted over 60 swallows and martins on our phone wires this week, hoping they don’t go just yet though as the second brood of martins haven’t fledged. Fingers crossed our weather holds for them.

Good luck getting tidied up in France! I can’t imagine living life in two places, but I am envious πŸ™‚

    Amazon,

Congratulations on the size 12s! It’s great adding to a new smaller wardrobe isn’t it? I’ve been maintaining since last May and I still have to check labels to believe I’m not a porker anymore!

    Hi Wiwi and Happy,

I wouldn’t be able to fast if I had house guests either.

I needed some winter clothes so decided to go and try a few things on. I’m so pleased to be wearing size 12. The trousers are a bit tight and a couple of the tops are rather snug across the tummy but that is motivation to keep losing weight. I seem to have finally got back on track after four months of going round in circles and I am very pleased about it.

My niece said yesterday “you’ve lost more weight” and although I haven’t it made me feel great. I am so determined to reach goal by the end of November and compliments really help.

    Amazon,

A lot of the maintainers report continuing shaoe change even after cessation of weight loss. So your niece has spotted that you look thinner, even though you know the scales haven’t moved significantly. The body’s shrinking to fit?!

    It seems to be ?

Wow, well done, Amazon, size 12 ! It’s a great feeling, now you just have to get your mind to catch up with your physical shape – no easy thing. Great to have the new shape recognised, too πŸ™‚

I have just had a horrible night lying awake, so only saw the last three minutes of England’s win over Fiji. Well done over there, complete with bonus point.

The days are getting longer, Wiwi, and the godwits have started landing in Canterbury. These birds come each year from Alaska, folks, and have the longest non-stop flight of any migrating bird. Why do they do it??

Today is women’s suffrage day – 122 years ago today New Zealand was the first country to give women the vote. We have come a long way since, but not quite far enough. We are still talking about equality in pay, and there is sooo much violence against women in our society. πŸ™

    Good evening All,
Been very busy socialising and gardening( mostly between downpours) no bowls since Monday. Barn dance last night and delicious meal at friends tonight, but I ate far too much delicious Italian vegetarian food. My friend is a brilliant cook he does everything from scratch. Yum!
I bought two new dresses from Wallis, they are lovely, but I can’t report going down a size yet.
Quiet weekend planned, just family, it will be great

Barata- I think Bowls Clubs have a very long way to go in terms of equality.

I have had two falls in two days, fell over whilst dancing last night and fell up a set of external stairs at the garden Center today. Only bruises and embarrassment to show for my trouble. Worrying though as I am not usually clumsy.

Jojo, those falls are a concern. πŸ™ We need you to take care of yourself, especially with your holiday looming.

Jojo its too much of a coincidence, your falls must be related to your recent balance issues. You probably have an inner ear issue. Take care and slow down… I wish I had half your energy!

Commiserations RT, looks like its next year now! Trouble with sport is there always has to be a loser!

My wisteria has just started flowering and I am sitting under it, enjoying the sunshine and the perfume. I think the bees are drunk, between the wisteria, the jasmine and the crab apple blossom, magic!

    Morning/evening all,

It’s grey and dull but dry this morning. I’m off to do grocery shopping before it gets busy and then catch up on a few chores before settling down to a feast of tennis and rugby.
A good win for England with a bonus point for the last try which was the last move of the match, but quite a few things for them to work on before their next match.

Have a good one everybody ?

    Morning All,
Enjoy your sport Amazon. I only usually watch tennis during Wimbledon and never watch rugby. I like cricket and athletics though.
I shall be in the garden all day today as we have a break in the rain, so much to clear before I travel. That’s the trouble with big gardens, so much work and sadly no help from my family as they don’t share my enthusiasm.
Nama and Barata, don’t worry about me. The balance issues have cleared up and I think it actually is a coincidence. At the dance we were dancing on carpet( a very silly idea). After that fall I took my boots off and managed quite well. At the garden centre my toe slipped off the edge of one very slippery step( monsoon weather) and then my shin hit the next step. Very bruised and swollen today but not painful. I was rushing to jump in the car to avoid getting soaked to the skin. Obviously because I fell I did get very wet.
I plan on being very careful this next two weeks as I would like to get the most out of my ‘once in a lifetime trip’. Although I guess that with my daughter living in New Zealand it is likely that I will get there every couple of years for a month.
Finally I feel well enough to fast today so all systems are go. Just off to have a cup of honey and chamomile tea plus ‘shed loads of water’.
    Have a great day Fasters.

Jo, I also immediately thought of the dizziness, something to monitor. It’s a gorgeous day here but I’m at work all day, would love to be in the garden planting bulbs. I had 2 good fast days this week, even fancied “fast” food yesterday so that’s what I had for lunch! I was out with friends last night who commented on my weight loss; and I thought I was looking fat in that particular dress!
I’m hoping for a small glass of wine tonight as I have 3 days off work after today. Keep up the good work everyone and enjoy the weekend.

    Hi Iona72,
Than you for your concern but no dizziness now thanks. I have been playing bowls this morning, food shopping and mowing the lawns( big job- lots of lawn) all without further injury thank goodness. Actually I introduced my daughter to bowls this morning. She was not impressed with the brown shoes the club made her don, no wonder youngster don’t get into the sport.
Now I am off to have a big bonfire

    Hi all,
There are lots of quotes on F/B that I skim over, but this morning I just read a great one that I think applies to all of us:

“If you focus on results, you will never change,
if you focus on change, you will get results”

Fairly obvious when you think about it isnt it?
I still prefer to weigh myself daily to keep myself honest, but this is def food for thought!
Have a lovely Sunday all, from sunny Melbourne. I need to buy a present for a week old great nephew today, this is going to be fun!!

    Jo,

Good to hear your dizziness/ balance issues are resolving, and your falls resulted in nothing worse than bruises.

Your poor daughter though! I’m afraid you don’t portray her (or indeed young people) particularly favourably! I have to hope they aren’t all so shallow and image conscious that they would be put off by sports shoes…!

I haven’t fasted this week. I think Monday’s super long walk must have helped maintenance this week. And today’s been another busy day in the garden.

While turning compost between ‘bins’ (4ft square wooden), I found a rat’s nest. I saw a little pink thing, but luckily I hadn’t put the fork through the nest. OH carefully scraped compost from round them (maybe 10, blind, hairless, v small) and we put a newspaper over them. OH checked back after a few hours and they were gone, so looks like mum relocated them.

Mixed feelings! We grow up fearing rats, and everyone’s first reaction is ‘kill them’. But why? Presumably if my hygiene is good there’s no health risk. And these were just babies, completely vulnerable…I couldn’t have killed them! Although I won’t be sorry if my cats keep the population numbers down…!

    Morning All,
Nama – Great quote! Change is key for sure.
Happy- I found a pregnant mouse nesting in a pair of wellingtons left in my garage. because we needed the wellies that day we relocated the mouse and nest into an old hamster cage and provided food and water. She delivered 9 babies and then escaped through the very tiny bars. We left the door open after that and continued to feed the babies using a dropper but they didn’t make it past three days. Freedom was obviously more important to the mum. Lesson learned, sometimes it doesn’t pay to interfere. Glad your rats had a better outcome but understand that you do not want to encourage their numbers.

Actually I do believe that the pomposity of uniforms for sport does deter young people from joining, not only because of old fashioned style but expense. In bowls you need grey trousers for roll up, special shoes( old fashioned brown lace up) or white smooth soled trainers, white gear for games, club shirts and blazers. I think it is the clubs who are being ‘shallow’ by imposing many of these ‘unnecessary restrictions’. All you really need is plimsoles, joggers and a polo shirt for ease of movement and comfort. I am portraying a sport that does not attract young people in this country. I believe other counties including New Zealand and Australia have a far better approach and healthy modern attitude to inclusivity in sports like bowls.

    Hi Jo,

    I love your mouse story!

Re: uniforms. Sorry! I hadn’t realised bowls was as bad as that! Your first post suggested it was just shoe colour that was the issue, but I fully take your point now.

    Good morning all …

A wee bit grey and overcast this morning but still not raining and that will do me . Off to see Dad in a minute .

I had a wee bit of an ice cream treat day the other day but I don’t worry about it now I am maintaining .
I was doing crochet flowers and learning patterns from U Tube yesterday and before I knew it 7 PM had arrived and I hadn’t had anything to eat. Recommend learning something new to stop us eating mindlessly.
Looks as if the summer has passed us by but as long as the roads are not icy I am OK .
I haven’t been answering the posts but I read them all every morning . I love hearing all the stories from all over the world .

Amazon you are right about still loosing inches . So many people are still asking if I am still loosing weight . I am not but I seem to be trimmer ( if that makes sense .).
Our friend in the lakes kept calling me a skinny minx lol . I feel I am far from skinny but compared to the size 24 that I was then I do feel skinny . I am happy with how I look now . I feel younger and fitter than I have for longer than I can remember . My RA has improved so much that I have taken up knitting again . Haven’t been able to for over 20 years as my hands used to go dead . I love to crochet now too , I am renewed ( well that’s how feel ).

I am so so glad I found 5.2 and all of you lovely people .

    Take care

    Wee xx

    Afternoon all

It’s another lovely day here, but I doubt there’ll be too many more as despite the warm sun there is an autumnal feel about it.

Wee, I’ve been thinking about shrinking bodies and realised that my midriff has got smaller. Trousers still feel the same but tops are looser. I am trying very hard to get back to losing 2lbs per week as I want to be a maintainer soon.

An old friend of mine who I met up with 10 days ago, asked me how I feel about losing so much weight and looking so different, and I said that I can’t actually believe that I’ve finally succeeded in doing something that I’ve failed at so many times and the only thing that convinces me is looking in the mirror. It is even more of a surprise at the moment as I had my hair cut really short on Tuesday.

My arthritis usually gets worse when it is damp and we’ve had a lot of rain in the last few weeks. I am happy to say that the only joint that hurts is my right thumb. Everything else is fine ?

I ate well yesterday but within my TDEE. Unfortunately the wine took me way over it. I am taking the view that I really enjoyed it and as I’m doing ADF there won’t be any damage. FD today and I have a nice piece of tuna steak that will sit on top of a veg stir fry for my dinner.
I have the tennis and the ironing to keep me out of mischief until then.

Have a good one everybody ?

    Hello
I popped into the supermarket had an hour before closing today and they were selling off winter flowering plants for 10p to a tray!! Needless to say I filled my trolley, very happy shopper (daughter had to carry the groceries tho – no room for them on the trolley!!) Got all the plants in my front border when I got home, rain due overnight so that will do nicely.
Just had curry from the slow cooker, it’s been simmering all day, it was lovely! Out to lunch tomorrow with former work colleagues and “Meet the Brewer” night on Tues so will fast Wed & Thur this week.

ok EFB Monday let’s get out fast on do the doable and keep on keeping on
    Peace RT

    Good morning everyone.

Yes RT, cold and wet here too this morning after lovely warm sunny weekend. Changeable weather is what spring’s about after all!

Happy: rats? Ugh!!! I would have despatched them with the shovel – they’re feral here and prey on juvenile small marsupials as well as out-competing the native animals for resources.

    Wee, fabulous work!

    Nama, lovely quote.

    Iona, what a bargain!

Jo, our bowls clubs have undergone a resurgence with after-work sessions for younger (working) people and don’t enforce uniforms, even permitting barefoot bowling. Not so good for tournaments of course but there are more younger members revitalising the clubs.

Amazon, congratulations to your Davis Cup team – they played well. How long since UK was in the finals?

My arthritis has been bad for a few weeks now but didn’t recognise the problem. I have been feeling out-of-sorts with the world. Couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong, just a general malaise and have found it hard to fast for the past month, such that last week I didn’t even bother trying. Fortunately I find it easy to exercise even when feeling down so have kept up with weights and yoga, even introduced an extra weights session at home.

My husband (such a calm rational person) suggested that the malaise could be due to the effects of the winter, combined with the knowledge that 75% of the year has gone and still so much to do at work. He said he often felt that frustration at this time of the year at work but not since his retirement/consulting life began. Unfortunately it has resulted in overeating and slipping back to β€˜obese’ but my daughter (so like her father) pointed out that despite the fact that I still have a long way to target weight, I should remember how far I have come.

Anyway, gave myself a bit of slack and a good talking to, spent time over the weekend out in the sunshine and now feel much more positive.

    Fasting today and feeling strong!

Take care all and keep up the good work. n xxx

    Morning/evening all,

Nicky, so sorry to hear that you are having an arthritic flare up. I hope it settles down soon. The warmer dry weather will help. I’m guessing that this is the only real setback you’ve had on your journeny to goal and it sounds like you’ve already got your head round it and will be back on track before you know it. We are all so critical that we castigate ourselves for gaining a kilo or two and forget how many of them we have lost forever. Good that your daughter was able to remind you of that. You know and we all know that you’ll be back on track before you know it, and you have the spring and summer ahead, which for someone in your line of work must be busy but very exciting.

The GB team were amazing and it was a great result. IMO they’ll win the whole thing now which would be fabulous. It’s almost 40 years since GB reached the final, but Belgium are there for the first time since 1904 when they played GB who were led by a pair of brothers (does that sound familiar?????) GB won 5-0.

It is dull and overcast here with rain forecast. I’m off to the gym today and already looking forward to my granola when I get home. I’ve woken up hungry this morning which is very unusual but I guess the result of ADF.

Another busy week ahead which usually helps keep me out of the kitchen with my mind on other things. Have a good week everyone ?

    Hi
Sorry about the arthritis flare-up, Nicky. I know that too. Last week, I just about signed up for an artificial hip. But in France on the equinox today, I feel great as it is sunny and dry again.
I failed in my FD yesterday as there is so much food to finish before our departure from France on Wednesday, I ate garden produce which isn’t too bad. It’s hard to fast when there is so much going on.Next FD is tomorrow in france and Thursday in Italy(It’s 1200 km from here to Rome). I love the san Pelligrino fizzy water and I will take advantage of its proximity.
I feel so excited about moving again, but sad to leave this place as well.
Happy fasts to those Monday fasters.
    XX Wiwi

    Good morning All,
NickyF- I saw a film of Barefoot Bowling in Regents Park, London, it looked a lot of fun with lots of young people. They did appear to be drinking quite heavily though which is not ideal when you are playing bowls. Doesn’t help your balance or aim I imagine. I must say that some of the ‘bowling tours’ we get visit seem to use the opportunity for heavy drinking but they wait until the game is over before they hit the bar. This is the only thing that puts me off doing one of these tours next year.

Two weeks to go before my trip, getting anxious now, still no tickets here. I really want them in my hand so I can check everything that I planned has been done. 16 flights to check plus trips at each local area.

RT- Life is so much better when we can get out in the sunshine in a pair of shorts, I love it. I will love it a lot more when they are a size 12. To all you Skinny Minis, well done! Give yourselves a pat on the back. I occasionally fit a size 14 but not consistently with all makes of trousers. One Day! More importantly I want to look in that mirror and say yes! That’s where I want to be!

Keep fasting and keep walking friends

I am winding down on the ‘clearing out’ I am doing here and enjoying the run up to my birthday this weekend. I will fast three days this week as it will be a heavy weekend.

NickyF- we all have these periods of low motivation, I have been there so many times. It sounds like you have it sorted. I make sure that I do at least one fast day per week no matter what, damage limitation. On that day I keep very busy and as far away from the kitchen as possible.
Iona72- 10 p per tray plants, what a bargain, I would follow suit and fill up my hanging pots which are beginning to look very sad. I love ‘cyclamen’ at this time of year, lovely bright colours. I went out to lunch yesterday, American supper event, I cooked a very large portion of Ratatouille and my daughter made leek and potato flan. First time I have had pastry in ages, delicious. Even allowed myself some carrot cake. We sat in a lovely sunny plant filled garden afterwards with a glass of wine and a cat on each lap, heaven, just girls talking about the meaning of life and the different paths we have taken to get to our respective situations. One of the things we discussed was how commonplace it was for men to abuse women both verbally and physically, prejudice and men taking advantage of their positions was far more common. Then the younger Londoners at the party with us were saying how they faced physical abuse travelling on squashed tubes. It seems they still find it difficult to address issues ‘in public’ even when they know full well that men are deliberately touching them or thrusting body parts into them and blaming their behaviour on overcrowding. There has been a lot in the news lately about this issue. I recently made a stand at my bowls club against ‘unfair selections’ for friendly games( men get twice as many games as women)but I got very little support from either men or women, they just accept that ‘all bowls clubs are the same’, seriously! Why! Have we really got this issue under control in this country! No!

    Hi All,
Lovely to hear from you Nicky, I was wondering if you were ok. Sorry to hear its been tough. Your daughter and your husband are right (as you know), focus on your success and give yourself that slack. As Jojo says, we all have times when its hard to stay on track, I certainly do. When things are not going to plan for me, I find it really useful to look back over my daily ‘weight and comments’ notebook to remind myself with concrete evidence of how far I have come. Sounds simple but it works for me. Progress may be slow, but it is there in black and white!
And of course sharing here on this forum always helps!!
Glad you are enjoying the Davis Cup Amazon! Thought of you today as I also did some serious baby squishing. My neice had her first babe 2 weeks ago and I decided the nasty flu bugs I had been exhaling were finally gone and it was safe to meet him. Something so nourishing about a brand new baby! So tiny, so perfect and such a miracle.
Good luck with your travels Wiwi, sounds like the garden produce you are ‘over consuming’ is worth the risk! How exciting to be returning to your other home in NZ.
Jojo our new PM has just formed his new cabinet and lo and behold – we have gone from a total of 2 female ministers to 5! Still a long way to go here too. The new parliamentary secretary to the Treasurer is a brand new Mum and has already been criticized for time spent breast feeding, I hate to think where this will end. Funny, women still have so far to go to gain equality, but I would hate to be a man. I think life can be pretty tough for our blokes too!

I once sat on a train and a man sat down next to me and put his legs so far apart that he was pressing up against my thigh. I asked him to move and he said he couldn’t so in a very loud and clear voice, I asked him why not, were his balls so big that he couldn’t put his legs closer together, and if indeed that was the reason then he should go see his doctor. He moved his leg…..
If anyone touches me on a crowded train I always find a way to step on their toes and raise the other foot off the floor. Not as effective now that there is less of me but it is still painful.
I also once asked a barman if he was going to serve every man waiting before me or acknowledge that it was way past my turn.
It is difficult to tackle such things as it invariably involves drawing attention to oneself but it is the most effective way to get a positive result.

Having said that, there are far too many women who work full time but still wait hand, foot and finger on the men in their household whether they are husband or son. They need to take a step back and look at what they are doing.
And that is why places such as bowls clubs are full of MCPs.

I know a lot of men who do not behave in such a manner including my dad and my brother, but I also have friends who do everything for their husband and then complain about him never doing anything.

I hate public transport and would rather stay home than use it. Luckily I have never needed to rely on it and now would be reluctant to use it, if your stories about crowds/creepy men are also true in Aus! I admire your courage Amazon, I would never have the b…s to say such a thing!

    Hi All,
I have a travel question? Is it better to buy Australia dollars in New Zealand before I transfer from there or should I get them here?

Tickets will be with me tomorrow thank goodness, what a relief it will be to check everything has been done according to my plans.

I met a Kiwi at bowls this morning, she comes from Wellington, small world is it not. She has given me her brothers number as he has several properties he rents out. Useful contact, me thinks, although not an issue immediately. My daughter may have a Montessori teaching job offer for after Christmas which would be great.

I still have not ordered my travel scales, must do so today, I really think I will need them. Remind me what make some of you have found useful please.

Jojo I bought the ones Purple recommended – called Petit mignon travel scales. My big feet hang right over the edge, but it can be done and they are very accurate and tiny.

Its great to have your own on hand when travelling and you will have continuity if using the same ones. With your previous holiday experiences, I think it would be too risky to be away from home for so long without them!

Jojo, I would get your dollars now while the exchange rate is good.

    4 FACTS:

These facts are irrefutable so be careful, be very careful.

    A wise person once said:

    1. We all love to spend money buying new clothes but we never realize that the best moments in life are enjoyed without clothes.

    2. Having a cold drink on hot day with a few friends is nice, but having a hot friend on a cold night after a few drinks – PRICELESS.

    3. Arguing over a girl’s bust size is like choosing between Fosters, Victoria Bitter, XXXX & Crown Lager.
Men may state their preferences, but will grab whatever is available.

    AND

    4. I haven’t verified this on Google but it sounds legit.
A recent study found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

Happy Tuesday Let’s Get our Fast On πŸ˜‰
    Peace RT
