  • Hi,

I’ve got severe eczema, head-to-toe and just began (my third day, or beginning of second week) the 5:2 fast. Finally, in my older age I’m losing weight easily like I did in my 20’s and 30’s.

I’ve had to take immunosuppressants for the past 5 years to keep the eczema in check. Additionally, acid reflux has been a problem and when I cut back on food and calories the eczema subsides.

Just 3 days into the fast, the eczema looks better and I hope I can get off the immunosuppressants….which is currently methotrexate.

Hoping for the best of both worlds!!!!

Fingers crossed the fasting makes a big difference! Best wishes!

    Hi Zema,

Read everything you can on the newbies thread, such as FAQ for newbies. Look up Dr. Michael Mosely and Dr. Jason Fung on you tube. And read some of the other threads. I’m on the 4 week challenge by Coda, and before that, the 42 day challenge by Coda. It provided the support I needed when I first started in mid April to make this a way of life for me. I hope the same for you. Give those threads a read. And, btw, I’m about 60 and this is the only “diet” I’ve found in the last 6-7 years that has worked for me. I’ve lost 18 pounds, so far. Best of luck to you. Just do your best at first! That’s what I did. It gets easier over time. No need for perfection. Just perseverance!

@zemagirl (if you’re still on this forum)
How are you going with your eczema and methotrexate?
I’ve just started fasting (3 days in total) and on a low dose of mtx and already noticed significant improvements in my eczema. Did you manage to get off the methotrexate? did your eczema continue to improve? (i’m wondering whether its the fasting that is improving mine or if the fasting is causing the mtx to be more potent and ‘effective’)
