  • Day 17 USA *Illinois – NFD

    Good OMAD yesterday which also is working for me on maintenance – about as good as 6:1 so it seems.

    Onward and downward.

    USA Day 17 FD

    Finally, starting to get hungry but can’t eat for another two hours to make my 24 hour water fast! So far so good, but now I am looking for ways to distract myself! Thought I would just pop in for accountability!

    Day 17 UK FD

    Yesterday’s FD came in at 200 calories. Felt rough but persuaded myself to eat a small bowl of stew, have an early bath and be in bed by 7pm. 12hrs sleep helped but still feeling rough. Same again today & hope for a steady improvement. Goodness this virus is getting old!!!

    Adding a B2B FD today bc I still don’t feel like eating – and why look a gift horse in the mouth?! I’ve not fasted properly for ages and hopefully this might boost my immune system.

    So far today I’ve drunk my weight in water & marmite tea tho still feeling dehydrated. Now for an early supper of lentil & veg stew with added vegan quorn chicken pieces and green veg, spicy stewed apple with a few sultanas and a blob of yogurt. Yum! And another bed-by-7pm night – feels like the best thing ever!

    Even tho I’m only a couple of pounds down on my recent weight gain it’s really noticeable in other ways. My face has lost the roundedness it gained over the last couple of months and I feel leaner, clothes are fitting better etc. Useful to be reminded of the positives of this WOL – however reluctantly!

    Whatever today brings, go gently

    @funshipfreddie: Well, your weather app was wrong! It rained (not too heavily, thankfully) but it DID rain all my delivery!
    So yes, @snowflake56: I did get wet…again!

    What do you know? There I was catching up on some sleep after work later this afternoon when DD rang. She is coming over tomorrow….as she needs to borrow my wellingtons! Apparently (not surprisingly) it’s pretty wet where they are renting their holiday cottage and she doesn’t have any suitable footwear for walking! So we get to SEE them for, maybe a couple of hours, after I get home from work. Wednesdays, as I’ve said many times, are the busiest day….plus Christmas on top….so I don’t expect to get home early, or be very relaxed….but, hey….
    @michelinme: You’re still feeling bad? Poor, poor you. Big ((hugs)) get well soon.

    @ccco: 24 hours…yay…I’m sure you did it! Slap on the back for you xx

    Day 17 Ohio, US — NFD (59 bites)

    A good NFD. A lot of running around doing chores, because the next couple of days are supposed to be super cold, as opposed to today’s high temperature of 0C. At least the snow stopped this evening!

    @snowflake56 The chateau advent video is a real delight. I’m just sorry that I’ve never seen any of their videos before. By the way, I think that the Lucy Worsley program on the history of carols was originally on BBC.

    Have a great Hump Day all!

    Day 18 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    First to post in Day 18,,,,have a good one. DH joining me in my morning walk so I won’t have time later to post

    Day 18, Emden Germany, FD

    @ciren2 hoping for a better day today, but I know it will be better because your daughter is coming!

    @matpi I just love the videos and I learned a lot about Chistmas traditions and other things as well. I found other Lucy Worsley videos on youtube, the Christmas carol one wasn’t on there but I found one on dancing. I really enjoyed it, esp. as we’re starting a refresher dance class on the 5th of January!

    Pocket list day 18

    @snowflake56

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 18: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    At work it’s going to be SO busy….after yesterday being oddly light on the mail. Whenever that happens we pay dearly the next day. Oh well…
    Its foggy outside, so a foggy drive in the dark coming up.
    When I get home I get to see DD and her DH for a little while. They are currently staying together at an airbnb about 60 miles from us. At the weekend they’re off to Paris before coming to us at Christmas.

    Have a good day, all xx

    Day 18 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

    @ciren2 – sorry for the rain?! I will be sending Samsung a strongly-worded email. Mind you, they did say 10% chance, so they’ve got themselves covered. Today it’s a 90% chance of rain for Gloucestershire, but only from late afternoon, so you might miss it?🤞

    Happy Hump Day! 🐫

    Day 18 UK CD

    A post of two halves…

    Managed to break TWO teeth last night with a bit of grit in with the peas. Before i realised what had happened I’d bitten down on the piece of broken tooth and broken the next tooth as well 🙁 🙁 🙁 The pain is niggling and I’ve managed to get emergency appt with specialist dentist for Fri afternoon … fingers crossed (ulp)

    On the bright side, after another v early night & 10 hrs sleep the bug is finally beginning to feel better. I’m also v happy with yesterday’s 800 calorie OMAD FD after 250 calorie FD Monday. DA B2B FD smugness abounds chez moi 😀

    This morning I feel like a shape-shifter – waist gone in again and stomach less puffy. Down to a happier 146lb – 4lb down this month, tho some of that will be water – and only 6lb of my recent gain left to lose. Amazing what a week of avoiding sugar & carbs does, along with plain vanilla 5:2. Well worth remembering when we’ve fallen off the waggon for a day or week or two 🙂

    Going to break my fast with a tomato omelette with avocado & spinach salad for lunch, then treat of vegan fish fingers, baked sweet potato and peas for supper.

    @ciren2 hope you have a lovely time with your DD 🙂

    Hold fast to that which is good… and go gently with the rest x

    Day 18 Canada FD

    I got every single errand done yesterday and I’m definitely shape shifting as well. Sharing your smugness @daffodil2010. Oh boy that’s terrible luck breaking 2 teeth. Hopefully your dental appointment comes up with a fast solution.
    I’ve definitely lost weight but there is more to go. Today will get me closer to my goals😊

    Day 18 – NFD – Ireland
    Good morning everyone. I had a busy day yesterday so no post… doctor, bloods and other appointments which along with work took up much of the day,..
    i am trying to take more time for me at the moment but it’s hard to fit in particularly at this time of the year. Yoga has been suggested but I honestly don’t know where I would fit it in and am trying to cut down on things rather then add to my schedule… it’s a conundrum 🙃😂. I might go back to Yoga with Adrienne at home and see how I go…
    Taking my super colleague to lunch today and have a Christmas night out tonight with the French crew 🇫🇷 so it will be a busy one… tomorrow we have Christmas carols and mulled wine in work.. 🎄♥️🎄
    Have fun with your daughter @ciren2!!
    @michelinme that dreadful about your teeth!! Nightmare before Christmas! You poor thing… hope you’re feeling ok 👌
    Onward and downward ⬇️
    We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 18, London, UK, FD,

    Xmas brain has kicked in, I would have sworn I had already posted, but no, I must have imagined it!!!

    Anyway, yesterday turned into an OMAD with my fabulous authentic Curry for lunch, a miso soup sachet with broccoli for under 80kcals made a perfect dinner, and the scales rewarded me this morning with a 1.5lb loss!!!! I need a few more like that before the Xmas madness begins!!!

    I’m still doing the 30day shred and I think I’m over the hurdle of my body hanging onto water & trying to repair half dead muscles, so now, hopefully the REAL shredding begins!!!

    Onward & downwards folks!!!

    Day 18, Va, USA, FD

    Have been super busy either cooking cleaning or eating. Ha. Yesterday was one of the first NFDs that i have had on a Tuesday! And I planned it… I even found that I had to remind myself that yes it’s ok let’s have breakfast and lunch (and dinner?) I actually did contemplate not having dinner as I was pleasantly satisfied.

    But I must had worked up an appitie during the 5:30 yoga class b/c afterwards I did want supper. Plus there was a small triple layer cake I made, and what better thing to enjoy on a NFD.

    After the NFD – I bravely got on the scales to asses the damage … bum bum buuuuuuum. I was down -1/2 lb. what?!?!? I’m going to guess it takes two days from what I ate to show up. Or my scale is broken.

    My FD today is a little struggle as I sit in Whole Foods (while I wait for our meeting to start in about 30 more minutes) and guess what the whole store smells like?!

    The whole place smells like COOKIES!

    Repeating mantra “not from scratch, NOT down the hatch!”

    @rabbette

    @funshipfreddie: Your app was spot-on for our weather today! Heavy rain and wind, started mid-afternoon….ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK…..yay!

    Just seen DD and her lovely boyfriend off after a visit. They are going into town to play badminton (at her old club) now, before going on the long, wet drive back to Theale (and their airbnb in the muddy country). It’s really the first time we have met him…I’m rather hoping he is “the one”. He’s practically been offered TWO jobs in Australia and will possibly even get an assisted flight and visa! So things are coming together nicely for them both…with their plans to move in together near Melbourne. She’s passed her medical for permanent residency too, so may get that in about a month…who knows? I’m happy for them.
    @rabbette: Enjoy the moment….scales are sometimes fickle friends! Mine seem to be stuck on a certain figure (60.9kg), which I find hard to trust or believe…but, well, maybe? I DO go long periods on an empty stomach while at work. I make up for it with my “coming-home-meal” however!
    @flourbaby: A gratifying loss for you xx
    @jaifaim: Hope you’re having a great day xx
    @michelinme: Ow..ow…your poor teeth! It’s that horrible gritty feeling when you just know you’ve done something like that. Aaaargghh! But then…we DO have to eat…more’s the pity.

    USA Day 18 FD

    Just finished a successful 24 hour water fast, followed by a NFD. Now I am beginning another 24 hour water fast. I planned on two of these this week and it is going well! They are from 2:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. the next day and that time frame that seems to be working well with me. I even got a Christmas party/dinner in last night during my NFD period. The timing was excellent.

    Ciren2, I am glad that you were able to see your daughter and meet her boyfriend. He sounds like he could be a keeper!

    Adding myself to the pocket list!

    Day 18 Ohio, US — NFD (65 bites)

    The NFD went well with the 6 extra bites due to a new kind of cookie that I picked up from a local bakery. It seemed quite sweet to me, so I probably won’t get it again.

    @snowflake56 The Lucy Worsley program on carols can be found, at least from here, on the BBC4 website. My favorite program of hers is the one where she discusses the struggle Elizabeth I had to go through to keep music in the Church of England.

    @ciren2 Sounds like a nice visit with your daughter and her SO. The fact that they have flown half-way around the world to meet you sounds pretty serious to me. I hope that it works out spectacularly well!

    Here’s the pocket list for December 19:
    @matpi

    Keep in mind — patient endurance attains to all things!

    Day 18, Emden Germany, NFD

    @michelinme poor you!

    @matpi I’ll try to find more videos. A lot of them aren’t available in Germany.

    @ciren2 good news on your daughter and her lovely boyfriend!

    Have a nice day everyone!

    2nd post

    gosh, it’s Day 19 already!

    Day 19: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    Not looking forward to a long day out in the wet. I heard it tipping down during the night (it started mid-afternoon yesterday) and it’s STILL raining! One more day and I have my long weekend….then one more day, and two days off for Christmas.
    This wretched cough has riled up my asthma and my throat feels tight. There’s something going round which causes a cough which lasts for WEEKS, it seems.

    @matpi: Only DD has flown halfway round the world. Theirs has been a long-distance relationship since she moved to Australia last Christmas….he looks set to follow her soon. He currently lives and works in the UK. They met at their badminton club about six months before she went abroad in 2018. It was supposed to just be a fling at the time…I suppose!
    @ccco: Congratulations…I knew you could do it.

    Must get going now….see you later xx

    Day 19 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

    @ciren2 – so my app redeemed itself?! Not looking good for you today though? ☔
    Another successful FD/oatmeal day yesterday. So quick and easy, and no hunger!

    Doesn’t seem to be a lot of posting going on. Everyone busy with Christmas preparations & festivities, no doubt. It’ll be interesting to see how busy the January Challenge will be, at least at the start. All those New Year resolutions!

    Good luck Thursday fasters!🍏

    Day 19 – NFD – Ireland
    Good morning everyone.
    @matpi well done to you still counting bites 👍
    @ccco fair play to you nailing a water fast at this time of year…
    I am putting on the weight as I roll towards Christmas… but come January 2nd I’ll be working hard to reverse it all… when I put it like that it seems crazy that I can’t just apply myself now… but I can’t…Christmas time… mistletoe and wine 🎄 🎶 🎄…
    2020 will be a good year FD wise 👍
    Sending strength to all those fasting today 💪

    Day 19 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

    Hoping for a good FD and DH is aware that tonight’s it’s spicy soup for me and he us on his own.

    Chrustmas really kicking in. We had Christmas jumper (sweater) day in work yesterday and yes I had a mince pie. First of the season.

    Have a great day fasters…..who is joining up today?
    @matpi
    @daffodil2010

    Day 19, London, UK, FD,

    I’m banking another FD today, since tomorrow we have a work dinner, just for the office staff. A 3 course meal with wine flowing hopefully won’t completely derail my fasting efforts, but this week has seen -4lb so far and I truly DO NOT want to cancel it out, the scales are rarely kind so when they are, I’m euphoric and need to hang onto this feeling!!!! I suppose there’s always the weekend to fast ……………………… yeah right!!

    I’ve been storing all the Xmas goodies in my car or the garage, it really is out of sight out of mind for me, I have ZERO willpower when something is right …. In …. front …. of …. me!!!!! I used to try the same thing with cigarettes but that didn’t work, it seems to be working for crisps & wine though, so I’m hanging onto the strategy!!!!

    @funshipfreddie, things are a bit quiet at the moment, perhaps people are away, perhaps they’re silently hanging on by that last remaining fingernail, maybe some have even thrown the December towel in (God forbid!!)……………. For me, I know posting = accountability = control = size 12 jeans getting baggy = Yeah!!!!! The January challenge will be busier than my local gym on January 2nd!!!!

    I’m going to use this and consider ‘break’ in every sense of the word!!!…….

    “Most people give up right before the big break comes — don’t let that person be you.” – Michael Boyle

    Day 19 – UK – CD
    Day 16-18 FD
    Day 15 – CD
    Day 13-14 – EFS 👿
    Day 12 – NFD

    Many apologies for my absence – lots of personal issues – 3 friends now dealing with cancer and just did not feel up to posting.

    I have to admit to poor food choices and way too much 🥂🍷on Days 12-14 too many festive outings – was angry with myself and then on Day 13 OH had booked a pre Christmas night out for us at one of our favourite places – Gilpin Spice – really interesting menu and fabulous food that tickles the tastebuds……
    However managed to do a CD on Day 15 which was also a brilliant yoga workshop 1000-1600, we spent the day celebrating the Winter Solstice (which is actually this Sunday) deepening our practice, incorporating Yoga, pranayama, mindfulness, eating yummy food and plenty of relaxation 🙏

    Then on Sunday Day 15 woke up during the night with a raging toothache – bottom left wisdom tooth infected and sore/swollen face………emergency appointment with dentist on Monday morning a good washout of the area with antiseptic, applied an antiseptic plug and started 3/7 of antibiotics!!!! This resulted with Day 16-18 being FDs as I did not feel hungry ?due to antibiotics and certainly could not chew as could not open jaw – ate soups and porridge.

    Finished the antibiotics last night and today I feel 90% back to normal but still some residual jaw pain – check up with dentist tomorrow……hopefully will be given the all clear!

    @snowflake56 – I see you celebrated your 33rd Wedding Anniversary on Day 12 – Hope you had a good time celebrating and many congratulations 👩‍❤️‍👨 I’m a bit ahead of you having celebrated 39 years in Nov! BTW your link for that cocktail sounds my kind of thing!
    @daffodil2010 – such strong willpower on Day 12 = NO to 🍷🍷
    @daffodil2010 – great job with the back to basics = always works!
    @ciren2 – did think of you with all that rain we have been having…….do hope that you are feeling better from that nasty bug you and your OH have been suffering with xx Glad to hear that you got to see your DD even if it was because she wanted to borrow your wellies……children!!!!! but it sounds like you had a nice visit with your daughter and her boyfriend 💕
    @funshipfreddie – love your description of what I call my EFS days “4 days of reckless abandon”
    @rabbette – thank you for sharing your Naan Bread Pizza idea – something to try soon…😋
    @i-hate-lettuce – Belgium trip
    @michelinme – so sorry to hear that your health issues continues and now broken teeth to deal with – shame you have to wait until Friday to see a dentist……🤗
    @emma-taylor – Lucky you enjoying the delights of Madrid – just a tad envious here
    @rafiki44 – well done on your 5:2 first anniversary 👍
    @matpi – do hope that the discomfort of the treatment was worthwhile and your feet feel a lot better now
    @jaifaim – sounds like you needed a big 🤗 hope the parents are doing OK
    @betsylee – well done on breaking that cycle with a good CD on Day 16
    @jaifaim – it is always important to make time for some self care/love, no matter how busy we think we are – do try to sneak in some me time 🤗
    @flourbaby – Love that last quote of yours – so true….

    I do hope evreyone manages to hang on and at least maintain for the month by the end of this challenge, if not remember that January means a new year and a new start – anyone volunteering to start us off for 2020???

    “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow” Albert Einstein

    ENJOY LIFE AND MAKE THE MOST OF EACH DAY AS THIS IS NOT A REHEARSAL……..

    USA Day 19 NFD

    Shifted my water FD to begin today at 2:30 p.m. running to 2:30 p.m. on Friday! I had too much acid reflux last night and thought eating something would help. It seems to have. For reasons I don’t understand, all of the sudden skipping wine and water fasting have become easy, so I am rolling with that. After one large Christmas meal last week, I gained 2 lbs. Those pounds are gone now. As long as I can keep this up, I will. I only have one more Christmas festivity and that is on Christmas Day and I am the chef!! I am making a recipe of my mother’s. She has been gone for years but my children are excited for the idea. I don’t think I ever made this for them before. When my husband was alive, he was a hunter, so I made pheasant, duck, or venison, all caught by him. I liked that but I no longer have access to such things. Anyway, this Christmas will be very special, since it is my grandson’s very first. He is going to make out like a bandit!! LOL

    Ciren2, I am so glad you are able to have Christmas with your daughter and her significant other this year. Family is so important at Christmas!

    Flourbaby, good for you for banking that FD!

    Jaifaim, thank you for the encouragement! Fasting this time of year certainly comes with its challenges!
    Adding myself to the pocket list (to start at 2:30 p.m. for me).

    @matpi
    @daffodil2010
    @ccco

    People must be very busy with celebrations and Christmas shopping but January is a very different story! LOL I can’t believe January will be my 2nd anniversary on this site!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Day 19 – USA – NFD

    Managed 3 FDs total so far this month and perhaps one or two more before January. Back to the work groove but not 100% as far as lifting…was given a good report from the dr. on my 5 wk. post-op visit, healing nicely, and have to go back in 3 months. This month went so quickly, it’s a blur! Looking forward to moving to larger digs next month WAY out in the country, can’t wait! Still hovering between 133-136, below goal and got a new Keto cookbook with recipes for those bread cravings! @ccco, I’m excited for your Christmas, it’s infectious! @snowflake56, belated congratulations on your happy anniversary, @ciren2, happy for your DD visit – I know it made your year! @michelinme, here’s hoping 2020 is virus free for you and hope you are able to get your teeth fixed very soon! Shout out to everyone who has hung on throughout this year’s challenge, whether you are observing, gaining, losing, stalling!

    Day 19 Oxfordshire UK, NFD
    Day 12-18 bit of a mixture for many reasons, not least because I’ve had a flu type cold, so laid up for a couple of days with no appetite. seem to be over it, just left with the sniffles.
    It has been an odd month so far, despite being quite focussed I gained 1.5kg at the beginning of the month and its taken me until today to lose that.
    However, I did my mid month measuring and I have lost some cms so body was having a bit of a reshape i think.
    Tomorrow and Sunday will be OMAD as we are out for dinner and lunch respectively. I will aim for a FD on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. And try and stay mindful on other days.
    keep on keeping on everyone.

    Day 19 – Cumbria UK – Just got home!

    Hi everyone,
    Not managed to log in since last Friday have been away – again!
    Just had a trip round some Christmas Markets, bit of a Christmas present for OH!
    Arrived Rotterdam, Netherlands on Saturday, stayed overnight, then to Bruges, Belgium finished off in Rouen, France.
    Had quite a lot of Frites, Chocolate and Beer so a few FD’s needed before family come next week and Christmas food!

    @at Gilpin Spice – that’s on our list, heard great reports. It must have put some rain down this last week while we were away!

    Righty, in for a FD tomorrow morning. I’m off out first thing so I’ll start the pocket list now if no one minds as I certainly need to be on a FD!

    Day 20 pocket list

    @i-hate-lettuce

    Take care all.

    @funshipfreddie: Absolutely right….another grot-day….got thoroughly soaked. One more delivery before my long weekend, when I won’t CARE about the rain!
    @at: Sorry to hear about your friends. I hope they are all getting good treatment and hopeful outcomes.
    As for dentists….what with @michelinme too, you are suffering. I hope you can soon get that offending tooth dealt with at the torture-chamber tomorrow! Maybe the course of anti-biotics was enough…fingers crossed for you xx

    Day 19 Canada NFD
    Quick check in, will catch up with posts during the afternoon!

    Day 19 USA (Illinois) NFD

    Off shortly to a Christmas Dinner Show at our fave Italian restaurant. Five courses, wine, etc. so I am sure to go over TDEE today.

    @at – hope your tooth/jaw pain subsides quickly and completely! Oh so hard to hear about dear friends with cancer… ever so sad.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 19 UK FD

    I’ve managed to sneak in my regular Thurs FD without remembering I’d already doing B2B on Mon/Tues. Makes up for some of the missing FDs earlier in the month! OMAD supper of vegan fish fillet, cauliflower, fresh tomato and peas plus clementines – i do like to get my colours in! Total calories just over 500 – result.

    Continuing my routine of a health problem a day I had another allergic episode yesterday evening. I’m thinking it may be a filler in one of my meds – chemist gave me different brands this time – but it only seems to be a problem when I take them too long before supper. I’ll make sure I have supper first, and see how I go.

    After two very early nights I only slept 8hrs last night and it’s clearly not enough at the moment. Felt under par today but needed to squeeze in some forward planning and usual chores. No new health scares – just rather stressed when unexpectedly got stuck in the middle of drug dealers doing drug deals…. but that’s another story 🙂

    Not really begun with most Christmas things yet but got a couple of parcels in the post and will post the rest on Monday. Hoping to write cards tomorrow evening & Saturday. DD is away this year so apart from Christmas day with my mother, all other celebrations are happening outside my house. I’ve decided not to buy the usual ‘treat’ food…. bc I’ll be the ONLY ONE EATING IT!!! Instead I’ll get specific food for Christmas Day, then bake as I go along for contributions to the outside events. Hence, hopefully not much lying around to tempt me 🙂

    @flourbaby I couldn’t store Christmas goodies ANYWHERE… Nothing is safe once it’s within commuting distance of me! The siren call of chocolate can be heard from miles away – esp in the evenings

    @at so sorry to hear about your friends. It must be so hard to have three of them all with cancer. Also your dental infection – how miserable. I hope the antibiotics have done the trick, and you bounce back without need for further treatment.

    Thank you @ciren2 @snowflake56 @metatauta @at for your good wishes. I had to wait to see my specialist dentist, part of team who work with people with additional health issues. Appts are like gold dust so I feel pretty lucky to have been squeezed in around their various Christmas holidays. Fingers crossed it’s straightforward

    @ciren2 your time with DD & her SO sounded great. How lovely that she seems to have found The One and all’s going so well down under. Hope you have a lovely Christmas together 🙂

    Whatever the day brings, go gently

    @at sorry to hear about your friends health issues. Hope your tooth is well again.

    @michelinme good luck at the dentist’s this afternoon.

    @i-hate-lettuce
    @snowflake56

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 21: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

    Weight very slightly DOWN! It’s got to be the punishingly long days trudging in the rain delivering the Christmas mail.
    Last one today before my long weekend, then back on Tuesday for the final push! It’s supposed to be wet again today (@funshipfreddie: am I right?) so it’ll probably start around ten when we get prepped up and ready to start our deliveries, right?
    Must go now….see you later friends xx

    Day 20 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

    @ciren2 – Day 21?! That’s wishful thinking, ‘cos you’re off on the 21st 😉 Just seeing the UK temperatures makes me shudder?! Light rain showers for Gloucestershire today, until midafternoon. But then you’ve got a long weekend off, yay!

    @flourbaby – January 2nd, 😅 I think most gyms on the planet will be hectic, for a few days anyway. And then February, all those redundant gym memberships…

    Friday fasters, let’s do this!

    Day 20 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    I spectacularly crashed out of yesterday’s pocket list by 9.30am!!! I was just so hungry, no rhyme or reason for it, but nothing liquid could date me. I even had half a bouillon in a mug at 8.30am but my body decided it was starving and that was it.

    I thought if I could just fast in work until lunchtime….but no….somebody had brought on loads of croissants, pastries, scones, biscuits, chocolates as a treat table…..so I caved at 9.30am with a croissant. Nothing more until lunch when there were biscuits, chocolate, tea cakes.

    Then when I got home I sent DH off to the chipper for a downer kebab and a side of chips!!!!! Then had wine with that!!!!

    So although not a chance of an FD until Monday (maybe), in the spirit of accountability I am feasting up! No idea why I felt so ravenous, could be hormones, but I have not felt so hungry in a long time.

    Good to catch up with you guys, those of you who are losing this week (and I am looking at you @flourbaby in particular, well done.

    Good luck Friday fasters.

    Day 20 – Cumbria UK – FD

    Good morning all

    Quick call in, weight this morning, up a couple of pounds or so, as expected after Christmas Markets and all the goodies and beer, lets face it we had a great ‘feasty’ few days!
    Think the Hague market was the best one of those we visited, great fun.
    Back on the wagon, only a few days to visitors arriving, that’s going to be fun.
    It keeps happening, after our holidays/breaks, I look at the progress chart, it’s been steadily down, then a blip upwards, but each time manage to get to a new low reasonably quickly. Great WOL !

    2nd post

    Ha, predictive text…I meant fessing up but I guess feasting up is more correct 😆

    Day 20, London, UK, NFD,

    I’m looking forward to my Xmas dinner with work colleagues today, we’re to be seated for 6pm and although it will be indulgent, the wine will be minimal since I’m driving, happily dodging that particular bullet; Phew!!!!

    @michelinme, you’ve got to love those accidental FDs, that’s one for the bank!!! Sometimes when the urge to snack gets strong, if I have to get shoes & a coat on and trudge down to the garage or the car, by the time I’ve considered doing it, the urge has passed!! This doesn’t always work, sometimes the greedy snack-dragon wouldn’t care if I headed to the garage in my birthday suit for a bag of Wotsits!!!!!

    Can I just say, the weather is absolutely PANTS in the UK at the moment, I’m thinking of getting a canoe!! I really wish we could share our weather with those down under suffering in an entirely different way, why can’t we have some kind of balance!!!!! Soggy rant over!!!

    @daffodil2010, I’ve navigated the dreaded Xmas chocs & biscuits at the end of the desk by plugging my headphones in, cranking up the music & angling my 2 screens to block my view, so far so good!!! You may find that being ravenous & embracing it yesterday means your set up for a week where you eat mindfully? …………………….. I hope that’s how it works for you!! Now, THIS is why I’m here daily, just your mention of my successes this week (another -1lb last night!!!) has strengthened my resolve and means there will be some seriously mindful eating over the next few days!!! Dinner out tonight – relatively dry & controlled; Sat + Sun hopefully too busy to eat (Zero presents purchased to date!!) and Monday out for dinner at The Oystermen in Covent Garden – seafood has Zero calories, right?? Then ……………………. The madness begins!!!

    Right, It’s my last work day for a couple of weeks, back on the 7th, so I really, truly ought to do a little work, and I mean ‘a little’ ……………….. it’s like the last day of school ………………………………………. I just want someone to put a film on!!!

    ”When you have one eye on the goal, you only have one eye on the path.”

    Day 20 – NFD – Ireland
    Good luck to the fasters today… 💪
    I might try a FD over the weekend….. we will see but I feel like my downward (outward) spiral needs to be addressed 😳 we had carols, mulled wine and a colleagues big birthday yesterday so really am doing the dog on the NFDs… (is this an Irish expression I wonder or do you all say this?)
    Thank you @at you are so lovely to send good thoughts… yes was feeling very overwhelmed recently but I’m dealing with it… dad is comfortable and mum is cute but demanding…she doesn’t realise it of course 💕
    I’m so sorry to hear that you are dealing with sad news regarding your friends and send you back a 🤗 . Remember to take care of yourself as you look after others 💕
    @flourbaby and others celebrating today – enjoy yourselves!! I’ve ducked out of the big office “do” as I’m just not up for it this year but have also had a lot of festive evenings this week so going to chill later…
    I hope @at and @michelinme that your dental issues are resolved before Christmas Day…🤞

    Day 20 London Uk FD
    I’m back from Madrid. What a great city. We stuck to tapas most of the time, except when I decided I wanted to try churros. I thought I could just have one, so I ordered ‘one’ with a coffee. Big mistake. Four massive loops arrived, with hot chocolate. Anyway, DH shared them with me. I liked them but I’ll probably never have them again. Hey ho.
    I’ve just watched a YouTube video of an American woman who did ADF over two years and almost halved her weight. She has a very sweet presentation style, very understanding and encouraging. I’ll try to find her name and post here. I just need a bit of brainwashing to get me back in the right frame of mind. Anyway, FD today. Happy Friday, all. H

    Rachel Sharp. Worth a look.

    Day 20 NFD

    Can’t see many opportunities for FDs now but aiming to be steady over the festive period and try and hold on to the few pounds I managed to drop at the start of the month

    Day 20 – UK – CD

    Yesterday’s CD came to around 900cals!! Did go to my Aerobics Happy Hour class in the morning and then attended a fund raising Pilates class in the evening. Around half of us then went for drink and meal afterwards and I ate my first proper meal for the week (apart from porridge and soups) I had some butternut squash and sage filled ravioli with a light cream sauce with some sparkling mineral water and felt very full afterwards…..

    This morning woke up and my mouth feels 95% normal so rang the dentist who thinks I’m OK and said to contact for an emergency appointment if anything flares up over the weekend 😌

    So I went out for my normal Friday walk with the group. and enjoyed a cappuccino afterwards – now back home and logging in for a quick catchup.

    @ccco – so happy for you that “all of the sudden skipping wine and water fasting have become easy,” make the most of it …….
    @metatauta – good news at your 5 wk. post-op visit 🤞everything keeps going in that direction
    @suki2 – sorry to hear that you too have been under the weather
    @i-hate-lettuce – sounds like you had a fab time visiting the Christmas markets – I would highly recommend Gilpin Spice – this was our third visit and just as good – Yes we certainly are having our fair share of rain…..
    @ciren2 @songbirdme – thank you – unfortunately they are all at that stage where there is nothing much more to offer……..but continuing on the same plan and ensure pain control
    @michelinme – thank you and 🤞for you with your dental appointment today
    @daffodil2010 – Freudian slip “feasting v fessing”………..
    @flourbaby – yes if only we could share some of our rainfall with Australia – I have plenty of friends and family out there – thankfully they are all safe and not near any of those destructive fires but still suffering the effects of it – they are longing for some heavy rain…..😔
    @jaifaim – thank you 💕
    @emma-taylor – welcome back to a mild if damp UK

    Right off to have a shower then having a pedicure before doing a small shop – Once back home I need to do some baking, planning on making some Fruity Christmas Biscottis (for us and to share with a friend who loves them) and a Victoria sponge for DD who returns to work tomorrow after being off for the past month – thankfully she is feeling much brighter in her mental outlook and feels that she has turned the corner – she will come back on a supported return to work programme 🤗

    Day 20 Canada FD

    This will be my last FD until the 29th. I have made some good change this month and finally feel I am on the way to maintenance perhaps another couple of months? The jeans I have been aiming to fit into can be done up but are really too tight, it is nice to be getting close. I will be skipping meals and taking small portions over the holidays to minimize the damage, enjoying ever meal guilt free and undoing the damage when the time comes!

    @at I am so sorry to hear you have three friends with cancer, hope that they continue to have good care and quality of time with their loved ones. Your tooth sounds like it was so painful as well, touch wood I haven’t had that pain for a ling time but clearly remember the agony. So glad your daughter has a support plan in her return to work, that is a great change in our workplace.

    @funshipfreddie those New Years resolutions indeed! I feel like I made more of a commitment this month so I am ahead of the game 🙂

    @ciren2 weight down, end of the mail overload and your DD for Christmas- all well deserved!!!

    @i-hate-lettuce the markets sound wonderful, on my bucket list and I am sure I will feast when it happens

    @michelinme wishing you good health from now on

    Love the post! My name is Sean Im new at fasting and need all the motivation and accountability i can get. Let’s get it. “If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I was desperately wishing to be where I am now”

    Hey @sean281life: A newbie! Welcome to the forum. It’s always good to see new faces. Keep posting and get the motivation.
    @funshipfreddie: whoops…day 21…and I didn’t even notice my mistake….Christmas Pressure has worn my brain as well as my body….and, yes…I got wet AGAIN!
    @at: Sounds as if everything in the mouth is ok then…what a relief!
    @emma-taylor: I’ll look up Rachel Sharp over my long weekend. I’m currently (re)reading my book on ADF by Dr Krista Vardy…..full of good science and (well) I’d like to hope, motivation!
    Three days off now from the interminable foot-slogging in the rain….HOORAY!

    @ciren2 – I just looked at Dr Krista Vardy’s book and YouTube videos. I think I’ll get the book. It looks good.
    FD today but boy, it’s going slowly. Foul weather in London, and it’s soooo dark. One big bonus of Madrid was that the sun went down at 6 pm instead of 4. I don’t like the cold and wet but I can deal with it. I hate the dark! Bleurgh. Struggling. Sorry.

    Day 20 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

    Still in maintenance, a few pounds up but a smidge under goal, not much wriggle room for festive feasting but better than it could have been considering…..feeling exhausted, so much emotional turmoil after mum’s death but a month on I’m OK.

    Quite amazed and pleased that I have managed to keep to my regular FDs, good as NFDs have featured too much red medicine 🍷. Now plan to take a fasting break until day 30. In the spirit of life goes on DH and I are planning to enjoy Christmas and I’m looking forward to it.

    Wishing you all a wonderful happy Christmas 🎄 xxx
