“contains soy protein isolate, soy protein concentrate or textured vegetable protein, it probably was made using soy beans which were processed with hexane, a chemical which separates the soy beans’ oil from the protein.”
“most non-organic veggie burgers currently on the market are made with the chemical hexane, an air pollutant and neurotoxin, according to the EPA.”

Yep, it never ceases to amaze me what manufacturers get away with doing to our foodstuffs. Over the years, successive governments have banned loads of products because they can cause so much harm – yet we still get toxins in our daily diet, no matter what we eat. I remember reading that the soya beans we get these days are genetically modified: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_soybean.
And we in the UK, are not immune from the onslaught: http://www.responsibletechnology.org/gmo-dangers/health-risks/articles-about-risks-by-jeffrey-smith/Genetically-Engineered-Foods-May-Cause-Rising-Food-Allergies-Genetically-Engineered-Soybeans-May-2007.
For a vegetarian, this is very bad news.
