  • How many calories are you allowed on non-FDs, a_k?

Ali, you are just beginning, it does take time to find the rhythm. Don’t be too hard on yourself. I don’t remember, how much do you need to loose? 5:2 is forgiving, and it is only two fast days a week. The rest of the week you eat up to your TDEE, count the calouries, and you eat what you like. No matter what or when you eat, try to keep it up too, or under your TDEE and with your 500 fast day, you should start to see and feel a difference. The obsession with food in the beginning will soon leave you, we all do it, because you feel restricted you are only concerntrating on that. You will find before too long that you don’t need it, your appitite will be smaller and your choices healthier. Hang in there, let your AUSSIE DETERMINATION keep you going, do as GG says, wait 10 minutes, if you still want it…have it, but enjoy it. Every change we make in life does take time to adjust, we are doing 5:2 because we chose to, your doing it because you have been told to, that is the big difference. Once you see and feel the difference, the incentive will come from within…good luck.. CG. πŸ™‚ xxx

Good morning team, wonderful post, as always FB, must be the middle of the night for you?
Have a great long week end team, no matter what you plan. Going away, family/ friends BBQ, live life and enjoy. Change your fast day if Monday is busy celebrating, don’t be hard on yourself. These times are mini blow outs if you have one but your fasting will get you back on track, our 5:2 is a way of life, not a diet so enjoy…CG xx

    Morning All

Just did my weigh in and pleased. Still doing 4:3 until I can get below 70kgs especially with my mind set. Have had a couple of days where very easy to have the little devil on the shoulder say … only a little wont hurt but we know that will be the case. I think I would like to eventually do as your doing CG and not have breakfast as I agree that it starts the engine for too much over a day.

Have found that sugar and bread have an impact on my body and only notice it because of eating well.

Anyway SW 86.7 CW 82.6 a loss of 4.1 since starting this year.

Out for a walk and a couple of minutes of a slow job.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.

    Sorry should be slow jog.

Jen well done, you must be feeling the incentive, good on you, that’s AUSSIE DETERMINATION working for you…CG xx

What are you all celebrating on Monday?

Hey, JenMic, jogging is kind of a job too, so you weren’t wrong lol. It def feels like a job, at least.

That said, I’m eating a Mars bar right now. Hadn’t had one in like 10 years. It’s okay but not as good as I remember. Will not eat again.

FC Monday is Australia Day public holiday, I almost forgot, being retired and on my little farm, one day runs into the next. Funny how that happened with the Mars bar, when doing my fridge out, I found 4 Cadbury favourites (mini size choc bars individually wrapped), of course during the course of cleaning the fridge they were eaten, yes I did enjoy them but thought I could have done without them, anyway they went through me this morning yet in my “past” life would eat them without thinking, just greed I guess, nice to hear from you FC…CG xx

Another glorious day on the coast…..Sunshine & carrot sticks instead of lollipops!

The 10 minute rule was posted by another team member several posts back. It is a logical way to think when those “I WANT YOU VOICES” start to cloud your head space. The 4 P’s ..can you believe ,it was the strategy given to me by a fishing guide in QLD when I caught my 17kgs, 101cm barramundi.Once again using this logic to any situation you are bound to come out a winner , as is with applying it to the 5:2 WOL.

Bread in particular, makes me feel bloated….. gluten free bread just does not have the same olfactory response.. but don’t you just love the smell of freshly baked bread when passing the bakery. A good way to test your willpower and not give in to temptation….AMEN
Have a wonderful day team …Keep using your AUSSIE DETERMINATION…cause YOU CAN AND ARE DOING IT……GO GAL

FLEMISH- Thank you so much for introducing me to ROMEO SANTOS! have been watching YOU TUBE and I love PROPUESTA INDECENTE and YOU. Such wonderful music. Not so long ago I was learning Latin Americian dancing…(HUBBY DOES NOT DANCE) I wowed him a few times when I danced …ROMEO has inspired me to get my shoes out again and move to his groove….. Hugs….. GO GAL

Flemish- on the 26th January 1788 the first fleet landed in Australia. The British raised the flag to signify the 1st settlement at PORT JACKSON in NSW ,Sydney Harbour.

It is a day..public holiday every year to celebrate our Country and its culture…..Another day to drink, eat and play cricket ,sometimes without rum balls! instead replaced by LAMINGTONS…. sponge cake covered in chocolate and coconut yum yum yum…….GO GAL

Thankyou for your encouragement Flemish Curves and everybody. I knew there was a reason why I linked into this group. Am keeping on keeping on.

Sad day yesterday as my brother-in law finally let go after a long fight with bowel cancer. But I am not letting it steer me towards that food cupboard. No no, I am going to use his passing as an incentive to live my life better and to treat this body with more respect (good eating). Onwards and upwards (downwards if we are talking about the scales).

    Morning Determinators!
Ruxton, so sorry to hear about your brother in law. Cancer is so cruel. You are very brave to have such a positive attitude right now. We are lucky in having this knowledge to eat better. So glad we all found 5:2
Yes Australia Day on Monday. I’m going to see Paddington Bear with my parents, then have lunch. So am having fast day on Sun, and maybe make it a 4:3 this week and do Tue as well as Thursday. I hope they have pavlova! It would be a treat πŸ™‚
I found another version of the Mushroom Strog on the face book 5:2 page.

    250g courgette “noodles” (43 calories)

    Stroganoff
1/2 teaspoon olive oil (20 calories)
    25g onion, finely chopped (10)
    1 clove garlic, minced (5)
200g raw mushrooms, halved or sliced (depending on size) (41)
1/4 cup of prepared vegetable bouillon (1/4 teaspoon powder or 1/8 cube) (5)
    1/2 teaspoon tomato puree (2)
    1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard (3)
50g of plain unsweetened non-dairy yogurt (I use Sojade brand, available at health shops) (26)
    salt to taste

Lightly salt the courgette noodles and place them in a strainer set over a bowl, to draw some of the extra moisture out. This is best done a couple of hours in advance.

Heat olive oil, add onion and sprinkle with a bit of salt. Saute until onion is soft, about 5 to 10 minutes. Add splashes of water to keep onion from sticking/burning. Add garlic and saute for another couple of minutes. Then add mushrooms and continue to saute until they have release their moisture and are starting to brown. Add prepared bouillon, tomato puree and Dijon and mix well. Saute for a few minutes, then stir in yogurt and heat through. Remove from pan.

Warm courgette noodles in the pan for a few minutes, until hot and softened as much as you like (I like mine quite “crunchy” but you can cook a bit longer to soften further). Add the stroganoff back into pan and heat well.

The picture of it looks yum! I’ll have to go back to copy it.
Have a lovely day all. Finally stopped pouring! xx

Dear RUX , Deepest sympathy to you and your family during this sad time . Memories are the photos of our mind. Treasure them. Celebrate his life and achviements well.
Take care of you and those around you.xxxxxx& hugs

I forgot to mention the PAVLOVA for Australia day….. which now means a trip to the supermarket……..GO GAL

Ruxton sorry to hear of your brother in laws passing, very sad, I hope your sister is coping also children if they had any. We just never know when we will be called to the beyond, and living every day to it’s fullest is it’s own reward. They say our bodies is a temple and to treat it as such, but as we know, life does get in the way, commercialism all aroung us beckening us to eat….but you are brave it’s a shame to take something like cancer to make us rethink our way of living. Take care…CG xx

    Morning team

CG I think I did say i did say early in the piece that I will be there with you in the 70’s one day end of the year hopefully. That where the confusion was. Pushing to the double figures now.

Ruston sorry for your loss, if you look back we have all had losses over time. Take care.

Have a great weekend spend time with those who are important eat well get some exercise and some rest, and watch some tennis. That’s my plan.

    Bali

LINDANAF- were do you buy the courgette noodles. Thanks for the recipe….GO GAL

    Good morning everyone πŸ™‚

Flemish….thank you so much for your wonderful post, you have come a long way and your relationship with food is what I am aspiring to, hopefully I will get there!

Ruxton, so sorry to hear of your loss, warmest thoughts to you and your family, take care and look after yourself x

GG…..I think you make the courgette noodles yourself…..just peel a zucchini with a potato peeler, the whole thing, it kind of looks like fettucini…..I use them to bulk up my pasta serve on non-fast days, delicious! Great recipe Lindanoaf….how many does it serve? One I hope

Well I have finally done it! Broken through my 74 kg barrier…..this morning 73.7!! I am so pleased πŸ™‚

THE FOX IS ON THE RUN……She will make 70kgs very soon! well done.

It makes sense that you would make them as the courgette is a zucchini! DER to me.
Thanks for setting me straight FOXY……xxxxx GO GAL

Thanks GG…..my goal is to be at 70 by end of February…..am planning some 4:3s, and now hubby is on the run as well, it might make me stick to being healthy on non-fast days…..he’s down another 100 grams today!

Hi Go Gal, You did make laugh then! (DER to me )!
I would say that recipe is for one. I just copy/pasted it from another page on 5:2
I googled how to make the “noodles” and one of the ladies used a julienne peeling tool. I’ve got to get one of those! It looks like a potato peeler with ridges in it. Too easy!

    Hi all,
Has anyone tried to do three fasting days a week? I did this past week – Mon , Wed. Friday. It went OK but by Friday arvo I could have eaten a horse. I also had a headache which I guess was dehydration. After ++++ glasses of water it went away. All horse lovers will be relieved to know that I did not eat the horse but had some Ratatoullie plus smoked salmon.
I have a cupboard full of nice clothes that I can’t wear. I’m determined to fit into them in a few months time.
Hang in there folks. Low self esteem because of our weight is not a nice place to be.

YES! LINDANAF , there are times when I crack myself up and this was one of those times…..or perhaps a senior moment! I am fasting today… any excuse will do! doing 4:3 this week to see how it goes as FOXY & FB seem to like doing it. Also am cooking “THE PAVLOVA” and resisting the temptation of licking the spoon so hubby did it earlier on for the taste test….Thanks……Have a great long weekend…….GO GAL

DOGSABIE- have tried many different fasting regimes . I usually do a B2B occasionally . Have no problems with it. I get a pretty good cathartic effect from them.Never suffered the headache that some have suffered only insommina and feeling cold of which those symptoms now have subsided.

Hopefully because of our new WOL …our self esteem will return….. it should not have left us in the first place, as we all have many other beautiful attributes we should rely upon…..have a FAB weekend ……GO GAL

GO GAL….my back to back that I just did these last two days was soooo easy….first one I tried eeek…starving! Have to look up cathartic…..hmmmm does that equate to release of repressed emotions for you, or emptying of the bowel??? LOL

Seriously though….this morning on my walk, I had so much energy…..I could have walked to Mt Barker (small town up the road from Albany….50ks) πŸ™‚

BUT best of all it broke my plateau…..YES, YES, YES….

Foxy you’ve done it yahoooo! The plateau is bronken, no way but down for you now congratulations.
GG I bought a spirilizer for zucchini spag from a kitchen shop, handy for carrots too
Dogsabie, I have stuck with 5:2 I find it so doable and not as brave as the rest of the team, tried a couple of times but broke it in the end. I’m pretty weak I’m afraid. They don’t seem to have any trouble at all.
Just came back from lunch with ex work collegues, we meet up every 4-6 weeks for lunch, was greeted with OMG’s and wows and second takes, one who I don’t know that well thought maybe I’d been sick because I’d lost so much weight. I had 4 count them 4 baby dinner rolls with real butter! Had two then the guts in me went back for seconds, ooooh they were yum, forgot how much I missed butter or bread for that fact, used a whole little square of butter per roll, 1/2 would have done, but if your going to be hung as a chicken you may as well be hung as then hen! So recalculating my cals for the day and the scollop stir fry for tonight so alls good with my TDEE.
Foxy your goal is in close site keep your AUSSIE DETERMINATION going, you may even beat it, well done… CG xx

OH DEAREST FOXY…. I am ,am so LOLOLOLOLOL Cathartic -is emptying of the bowel which does equate to sometimes a pleasant release of emotional feelings… I also apologise that sometimes when I come out with my professional jargon I do not followup with an explanation of a term that is so often used in my profession.
Just so proud of you my friend!…. HUHs…..GO GAL

Also called into Country Target on the way home, having trouble filling my bras now….two sizes down girls, that’s what makes the weight loss so visible…CG xxx
Ps sorry Bali, I did forget, age! …CG xx

CG ….. its been so good on the thread today! So glad you enjoyed lunch with the girls.Have a comfortable night……HUGS……GO GAL

IT’S CALLED GRAVITY…..as some wise old bird told me……..MY MOTHER!….GO GAL

I agree GG it’s great when we get a lot of posts, have a great day my friend…CG xx

Hi CG & others. I knew what you meant by cathartic. Guess we are, or in my case were in the same profession. When I worked as a theatre nurse I was as slim as a whippet. I now lead a more sedentary lifestyle but no doubt still consume the same amount of calories. Although I find fast days a bit of a challenge I love the feeling of euphoria that comes with fasting. I’m also a lot more energetic. ( not so now as I’m watching the tennis! ) I’m lucky, enough to live in a beautiful part of the world and its no hassle to get out and have a 55 min brisk walk before brekkie. Of course if one is working this is not possible. I’m retired and loving it. I’m also determined to keep my brain in good working order and from what I’ve read about fasting it is very beneficial.

Hi Dodsabie, it was GG not me that posted it, although in the same trade, I was mostly age care in nursing homes (the start of my back problems)and disability with DHS too but mainly Div 2 since 1972 training had a 20 year break as a secretary raising my children where shift work wasn’t working, then back into it but all high care/palliative care in the homes (again back trauma) . GG is more qualified than me as is Gypsy
I’m watching tennis too, don’t cha just love retirement, what doesn’t get done today, there’s always tomorrow, plus after being out for lunch got a bad case of “idolitis”!
    Have a great day…CG xx

So sorry RUX to hear about your brother-in-law () hugs.
Thanks Linda for the latest mushroom recipe, it looks yummy.
Dogsabie I just did a 3 day week, Monday, Thurs and Friday and had no problem throughout the day but by 8pm had a swimmy head and felt quite sick. Woke up feeling the same this morning until I ate some breakfast. No problem since so guess it had to be the extra day. Weigh in this morning only 400gr down so not sure it was worth it. Will wait a bit before trying again.
So many good posts and so great to share info! YY

CG, I do think the mindfulness is a big difference. I must admit, I felt very bloated and weird after the Mars bar so maybe I’m becoming less tolerant of pre-processed treats as I eat less and less of them and just stick to the things I make myself (or buy at bakeries). So maybe no more candy bars for me.

Wow, GG, I’m so glad. Propuesta Indecente is a fantastic song (and video). I have such a soft spot for his music (and lyrics), I’m excited my joy is rubbing off on others :D. The video was released late last night, btw. It’s not Propuesta, but there’s a white tee-shirt in there that I very much enjoyed hihi. I love bachata, the basic steps are pretty easy to do and it’s so much fun. Did you know that until recently it was considered a dowdy type of music, for older folk in the lower classes of the Dominican Republic? Romeo Santos revived to something cool and gave it international status. So happy he did πŸ™‚

I have learnt something new today and will try to remember January 26th. I’m learning so many non-food related things on here, it’s really lovely to talk to people from a different culture on a regular basis.

Thanks, Foxy, that means a lot. I think we’re all reteaching our brain how to function when it comes to food. And it doesn’t come easily. But then again, if it’s easily attained, it’s easily lost as well. I can’t wait for you to get to that 70. It’s a great milestone to hit (and pass lol).

Ruxton, I feel for you. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family will be okay.

Dogsabie, I know what you mean with the clothes. But beware, I now again have a closet full of clothes I can’t wear because I’ve shrunk out of them. There are less fun reasons to shop, though πŸ˜€ I’ve never done 4:3. I don’t really feel the incentive for it. I did do consecutive days, every week, back when I just started. It wasn’t for me. Made me fluctuate too much. My guesstimate is that I’m running on an 1800kcal deficit/week so I think those are enough calories to lose weight very sensibly ans stably. Plus, I think people would start worrying if I’d do 3 days. I already have friends and family tell me should stop losing because I don’t want to get ‘unhealthy’. I’ve never been healthier in my life, lol.

Yum Yum, I think Michael Mosley said the weight loss with 4:3 is not in the same proportions as 5:2 and he didn’t think it was necessarily worth it as some people don’t feel the extra effort is worth the less drastic extra weight loss, because it’s proportionally smaller. (Or something?). But it works for a lot of people here, and when it works, it works. I checked the boards and apparently after a year, the 4:3ers didn’t really move more weight than the 5:2ers. I don’t know how reliable that is, though. Maybe some 4:3ers are doing it to be able to eat more on regular days so that would make up their calorie deficits. Smoe people were also more constipated on 4:3, which obscures the results of weight loss (for obvious reasons lmao).

Ugh, I’ve just opened my curtains and it has snowed AGAIN. I’m glad I went to the shops yesterday. I was laughing of Spain for getting stuck with snow, and here we are again. And by the look of the sky, it might not melt away very fast. I won’t be wearing my overknee boots or ride my bike this week, I will just topple over and break something. The amount of times I’ve fallen with my bike because of the snow, I can’t count them anymore. I knew yesterday’s mist was a harbinger of bad weather. Jealous of your Summer weather, lovely ladies (and lads).
Here’s a view from my bedroom window :/

    http://i.imgur.com/mjhB7Wl.jpg

FC, you write such interesting posts. Why is it as humans we always want what others have, Our summers get so awfully hot, fires around, what you see out your window is beautiful. I know our winters here are very cold, windy and wet, I have my gum boots pulled off by the mud when I go down to feed my cows, when I fall over I laugh at myself, other days I think, why the hell am I doing this, but it’s short lived. We have such divers weathers here and most days are beautiful, it’s the extremes that are the hardest. We had snow one year and I froze, even my reverse cycle air con cut off so I sat near a radiator. Our homes are not meant for snow, had more layers of clothes on than I could count, but summer is the reverse, you can only take so much off! Enjoy the beauty of your country…CG xxx

FC, I meant to say how pretty everything looked when it snowed, fern and gum trees covered in snow, my hill were white as were the paddocks but above all it was the silence, everything was quite, muted I guess, maybe too cold for even the birds to sing. It melted after 2-3 days, made all the papers too, but short lived, don’t know how you manage getting on with life in that weather, just shopping or going to work, be very dangerous…CG xx

Wow this thread is active and moves fast!
Many thanks for your warm welcome.
Ruxton- I am very sorry to hear of your BIL passing, hoping his family can find some peace.

Fast day today, and I “survived” it, resisted temptation…
    onward and upward!
Hope its a good long weekend for all.

Hi FC. I’d forgotten Michael wrote in the book that the loss didn’t reflect the pain of a third day! It must work for some but don’t think I’ll try it again. I really enjoyed my non-fast day today, love summer fruit and great to pass the fruitbowl and be able to select a nectarine or plum or grapes without having to agonize over it. The smell just gets me in. As a little girl our greengrocer’s shop in summer had an amazing smell and I used to wish that I could find a fruit that tasted just like the delicious smell. Had to settle for an ice-cream cone instead πŸ™‚

Not sure if your news will cover the fireworks say from Sydney but you may get a snippet (unless like our news, overseas coverage is mostly bad news days)…YY

@flemishcurves I’m allowed a small high-protein breakfast, 125g protein plus salad vegies for lunch and 125g protein plus vegetables for dinner, with 3 pieces of fruit a day. I think the meals are supposed to be no more than 500 cal. If I need a munch, it’s a handful of roasted almonds.

I’m not hungry all the time, but occasionally I want to gnaw the leg off the table.

@go gal I used to live upstairs from a bakery. The smell of bread starts to come through long before the shop opens. This past year I’ve slipped into eating a lot of sandwiches as meals (love the club sandwich). Going to no carbs, no bread is a bit of a shock to the system.

AUSSIE DETERMINATORS on the eve of AUSTRALIA DAY I thought I would share with you 2 verses from DOROTHY MACKELLER…..MY COUNTRY…..

I LOVE A SUNBURNT COUNTRY,A LAND OF SWEEPING PLAINS.
OF RUGGED MOUNTAIN RANGES OF DROUGHT AND FLOODING RAIN.
    I LOVE HER FAR HORIZONS,
    I LOVE HER JEWEL SEA.
HER BEAUTY AND HER TERROR THE WIDE BROWN LAND FOR ME.

    AN OPAL HEARTED COUNTRY,
    A WILFUL LAVISH LAND,
ALL YOU WHO HAVE NOT LOVED HER
    YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND,
THOUGH THE EARTH HOLD MANY SPLENDERS,
    WHEREVER I MAY DIE,
I KNOW TO WHAT BROWN COUNTRY ,
    MY HOMING THOUGHTS WILL FLY!

Our little island is so blessed .

    HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY………GO GAL

To be honest, CG, we never have really hot summers so I think it’s just because I’ve never had one that I want it. Last summer was pretty depressing. Lots of rain, not a lot of actually warm days. Pretty lackluster altogether. Apparently the snow will be melting tomorrow and it will get slightly warmer, so I’m happy. If I lied in Australia I’d probably die of heat and complain πŸ™‚ Weirdly, when I was growing up, it almost never snowed here. I mean it did snow but we all had to play in it before school started (only time I’d ever leave for school early) because it would be melting by recess. Only when I was in my later years of secondary school (when I stopped liking it) did it ever last for ore than a day or 2.
Thanks for saying my posts are interesting.I’m taking it as a compliment, technically it could go either way lmao. You’re too nice to be sarcastic about it.

Yum Yum, I’m absolutely addicted to fruit. I’m not sure there is anything I love more. Even something as basic as an apple or an orange make me giddy. It’s one of the only things I actually miss on FDs. We’ve been getting a lot of pears straight from the farm this year, as Putin has put a ban on European fruit, our apple and pear farmers are struggling to get by. So plenty of locally grown apples and pears for us. We even had locally made aniseed apple cider instead of glΓΌhwein this Christmas. We’re going to continue driving straight to the farms for local fruit from now on. The fact that for many it doesn’t really make much of a difference in weight loss, puts me off from trying 4:3 altogether. But I highly respect the people who do it. Tough cookies, those gals.

Wow ali, well done on restricting yourself like that. I’d suffer from having to watch out so badly. I mean, I really watch what I eat most of the week, but once or twice I have to have a nice treat without caring about calories or grams of protein. I can imagine feeling like gnawing off a leg haha. That gave me the mental image of a dog biting its own leg.

Morning team, GG that was the first poem we learnt (my gen) by heart at primary school, it still moves me, it is beautiful by one who really did love our country.
Well gone is the insomnia team for me, I am sleeping so well, maybe too much, woke at 7.10 and listened to the trickling rain, rolled over, next I new 9.30! Instant response was panic, then a quick mentle reminder…your retired, no gun at your head, no appointments…it’s Sunday!
Have a true blue Aussie couple of days fasters, BBQ’s family friends, neighbours, any get together that you get some fun out of. Have your few drinks, wine/beer what ever, a snag in bread or a roll, pav…this is OUR holiday, not gov, not o’seas but ours.
Over indulged last night on chocky, “it’s good for you!” baked beans on toast, do you remember the smell of toast? with real butter.mmmmm, It’s all to mix up the metabolism, some “diets” suggest you throw caution to the wind one night a week, as it kick starts thing again, and my cravings lead the way and I enjoyed it all.
Don’t care if it’s true or not, starting to get buck teeth and long ears from all the salads and I think I’m growing feathers from all the chicken I eat! Re fruit, I eat it 7 days a week, and calculate it into my fast days, too good to go without, I even add it to my salads, often have 2-3 slices of a navel orange with my coleslaw and meat, yum.
Have a terrific day team, live and enjoy…CG πŸ™‚ xxxxx

Thanks CG…. I felt it fitting for our thread ,our country …. It still and always will move me to tears….when flying OS and going over the desert and the rock I would say the poem to myself or ADE would say it with me.The whole poem is magnificant!……..GO GALxxxxx

Hi everybody. Yum Yum – have you tried a monsterio delicio – like eating fruitsalad in one fruit piece. num num num.

OK FlemishCurves … I know we dont actually say where we live but I assume you are in Scotland somewhere … my family originate from Aberchaldy(sp) on the Caledoneon Canal and Blairgowrie in Perthshire. Have a penfriend (yes they still exist) in Musswelburgh (sp). Scotland is on my bucket list.

We are off to an Australia Day presentation this afternoon – a friend has been nominated as senior of the year for our council area. I do hope she wins as she has put in so much effort to raise finds for the Motor Neurone Disease Assoc. Almost $100,000 in four years.

Happy Austaria Dat everybody and also to FC who I think we should make an honourary Aussie! What say you other Aussie determinators.

Haha Ruxton, I’d love to be an honorary Aussie! And I’m going to take it very seriously and start by taking Monday off from work lol. I’m sure my boss won’t mind if I don’t show up out of Aussie responsibility πŸ˜€

I’m actually from Belgium (the Dutch-speaking part). But Scotland sounds like a pretty great place to live. It’s also the fattest country in Europe so I’d feel like a Skinny Minnie there. I know some people from my year abroad who attended a university in Edinburgh. But they’re Northern Irish and French.

G’Day all. Thanks go gal and countrygal for your comments plus the rest of you of course. Countrygal I too suffered a back injury from nursing. I suffered from chronic pain for years but thankfully it’s a whole lot better now. I was shunted into Medical Records which I hated BUT I learnt to use a computer which has stood me in good stead.
I have a dose of the mutters today as I don’t seem to have lost any weight this past week- or the scale is lying! It seem to be a common theme so will just keep on keeping on.
Flemishcurves and others. I was born in South Africa, but have lived in Australia for almost 40 years. Unless one is of Aborigial descent, we all come from other parts of thee world originally. Australia has become a very multicultural society which makes it a fab county to live in. I’m lucky enough to have travelled extensively but just love to see the flying kangaroo on a Qantas plane when I’m at an OS airport. Also flying into Sydney after an OS holiday is a great sight to behold.
