• Hi! Thanks for the invite to join you all countrygirl! It is my first fast day today and have already gained many helpful hints by reading your posts.

I have started out by sleeping in! Then green tea til lunchtime, small can of tuna for lunch and planning to stick to water till dinner, maybe salad and steamed veg?
I am 68, 5ft 2 and also have at least 20 kilos to lose, hopefully more, since I am 90 kgs at present! Have a back injury which finally forced me to retire from active nursing service, so walking exercise is not on the table for me. Though I do what I can, the computer draws me to a chair most days. I’m spreading at an alarming rate, recently diagnosed with type two diabetes, though only diet controlled at present. It requires radical change of my …sob… bad habits! Love fat and my rum and coke!

Am hoping 5:2 is my answer. Mostly, I am glad to have a focal point, as I have been researching the best way to go (and have tried and failed quite a few). Finally heard about 5:2 from my former colleagues. It has taken off like wildfire in the staff population of my old Hospital, ha, ha, though as usual we (the health providers) are ‘not allowed’ to advise/treat our patients with anything not proven by evidence based research. But they report their individual success is astounding. I wondered if it would work without the addition of galloping around the wards, etc. I am considering making my journey a research project, or at least helping collect stats for my still working mates! Will enjoy looking in on you DETERMINED AUSSIES from time to time. Your support value is great. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year to all!

Hi Everyone
CG I found it easy to skip breakfast and wasn’t really hungry at lunchtime either. FB I never thought to water down my wine but that is a fantastic idea and will do that when we entertain on Friday night!
Today i went to a cafe to have brunch with my 2 daughters and now I’m making sure Im not having any lunch, just having a small handful of nuts and a nectarine before dinner of meat and veg.

Hi everyone
I too know what pinking shears are and just the other day I learned how to sharpen them at home. Fold aluminium foil four or five times and then cut through it until the shears are sharp enough to cut through fabric.
Today is a fast day and I’ve found drinking water continuously helps a lot with the hunger pangs.
Unfortunately, the tape measure is still showing the same numbers.
I’m not keen on weighing myself because I hate the disappointment. I don’t own any scales so occasionally I pop into my doctor’s surgery and jump on their scales. When I notice a change in the tape measure I’ll zoom up to the doc’s and see if the scales have moved.
Marelda, your dream is so funny. Tricky, tricky brain.
I agree that ‘champignons’ are usually only named that when the tin says so.
It’s great to see everyone’s stories and how each of us is maneuvering our ways through the fasting program.

Like this, FB? 🙂 (fingers crossed)

Gipsybell, most of us don’t do our walking on the table (couldn’t resist that one!!) 5:2 has been a lifesaver for quite a few posters and spouses, so good on you, and your former colleagues.

Yay, it worked! Now to figure out all the rest of the emoticons. I tried copying the animated ones from the website – perhaps I have to post for it to work? Here’s trying…

Nope. Back to the drawing board.

Hello to our (near) newbies. Judy you find the longer you go without food, the less you need it. It’s strange! The body will let you know when it’s time to eat but liquid is a filler, I rely heavily on Zero coke on fast days, especially mid arvo. Having a dry ginger at the moment, not sure if they do low cal although everything these days usually has that option.
Gypsy, I know where your coming from, I took early retirement at 62 for the same reason, now awaiting surgery, early nursing days of lifting ( if you remember before all the rules changed) has taken its toll (1970) as with a hobby farm and a love of gardening, but I’m finding the loss of 17k really has eased a lot of pain. I still get the sharp jabs if I turn or bend without thinking but after trying to lift Calf food one day and realised this is the same as the extra fat I’m trying to carry around so time to do something. I used to be very skinny but as with most women menopause and life generally just stacks the weight on. I still think it’s because we become better cooks as we age, we hate wastage so use up leftovers, or add the extra to our plates. NOT ANY MORE! I rarely exercise because I can’t walk far without constant grabbing pain and a very numb leg, but the weight does come off with 5:2 and so does the cm’s on the tape measure.
Keep it up everyone, it’s a long journey, but a pleasant one you’ll all enjoy especially the new way you learn to cook or use food… Have a great day enjoy life 😆 CG xxx

Its great to have new people join us…Welcome to AUSSIE DETERMINATION…

@rocksy, welcome…I am with you on losing 10kg by June…I have lost on average 2kg a month using 4:3 and figure the first goal is to lose 5kg by March. Like CG says set little goals…( I have an underactive thyroid so anything can happen)I did get to my healthy BMI before Christmas but I feel that I can still do with a bit more as I gained a bit. The health benefits are well worth starting 5:2 let alone the bonus of losing weight.
Climbing MT Kilimanjaro well that’s just amazing…..

@sheila, welcome ….your getting married in 61/2 weeks ? This way of life is very DOABLE and the team here have proven it time and again!

@meeee, welcome….you have come to the right place as a lot of us on here know what you are talking about with losing baby weight…..there are a lot of extra happy bonuses to 5:2 that you will find along the way…a bit like having the joy of a child!

FAST DAY tomorrow…and I have lot of gardening to do to keep me distracted! See you all for weigh in on Friday….veggie

Welcome Gypsybell, hope you find this WOL/WOE very doable as most of us. All the best for your starting efforts.
Yay Barata, you smileys are working now.
If you want to paste the smileys from other emoticon type of websites. Just copy and post the html code here and it should work… Hope you will have fun trying!!!

WOW ….. I am so pleased with all the posts, especially from all of our new team members. A BIG AUSSIE DETERMINATION WELCOME TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!.

I am not going to repeat any thing that all our other devoted members have advised…just find your own way of fitting 5:2 into your life style. IT really is so doable.

I find that I have fluid retention late afternoon…mainly around the waist . I tend to drink most of my fluids from early am to 4pm. If I am going to have wine ,I fill my glass with ice cubes then the wine.

All prepared for fast day tomorrow and also my 1st day back at work.

Have a good one……GO GAL

GG, just tried to phone you…no one home?

Hello everyone….miss one day and geez what a of of posts! Is great to see so much activity on here, and more new members welcome!

had a lovely evening with my son, his girlfriend is absolutely lovely! I am a lucky mum 🙂 They are out sight seeing, then we are going to movies…..have been fasting all day but will break this at dinner time….but all up I’ve worked out will still be under 1000 cals….so not too bad..

Hopped on scales this morning and am down 700 grams after a non-fast day? Hope it is for real……74.4 this morning

Well done CG on breaking through the 83 kg! 😀

Foxy, having the family around is a wonderful thing. Enjoy.

Hi all, welcome to all the newcomers to this supportive corner of the interweb. Fast day for me today. Just my bog-standard fast day food and drink routine. Currently enjoying peppermint tea. Weigh-in tomorrow.

HI FB and GG1. We are at the tail end. I finish work in about 1 hour and the last one always goes quickly. Home to watch just 1 TV show with a cup of chamomile tea and then off to bed. I did have a small amount of pistachio’s but only about 50 calories worth. Apart form that all has been good today. 🙂

Hey Catherine and GG1, so glad that today’s fast is over…..finished at 430 cals. Normal eating tomorrow. Yay to all of us and Andrew, i didn’t know that you were also fasting today. You are a champ at routine. My fast day food diary is all over the place… Lol.
Off to bed now…. Gd Night all!!!

Good morning team OH WHAT A NIGHT! The thunder and lightening made it impossible to sleep, so loud, so bright. My “boy’s” were not impressed, barking originally then just tummy growls. From approx8.00 ish through to 4.30 ish (am)
Fast day everyone, all planned for, all ready… YOU CAN DO IT, it’s great to have that cleansing, detox feeling, think what good it is doing your body and the bonus of dropping weight, your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will work it’s best on fasting days so let it take over, it will not let you down. Humid weather (with thunder storms) every where today so keeping the fluids up should be easy for you. 🙂
Have a great day team 😆 it gets easier every fast you do …. CG xxxxx

Hi all, weighed in this morning at 88.4 so no real loss (from 88.5 Tuesday morning) but no gain either.

All the best to those fasting today. Keep those fluids up even if the weather is cooler.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the welcomes! I have found fasting days a bit tough but do-able, it made it much easier with all the preparation advice from this group. I have kicked this thing off with a 4:3, so fasting today and weighing in tomorrow – whatever the scales say I feel better already. Happy fasting to everyone today 🙂

Hi all, it’s post fast day (week 6)and the tape measure remains the same. Calorie diary for the last three days shows that one day I was over and one day well below so my preliminary thinking is that I’m eating within my range on non-fast days but I’ll continue to record my intake for a week and check the findings then.
I’m struggling to keep motivated when nothing is happening. Especially during a fast day when I’m so hungry. I can’t understand how others don’t feel hungry on fast days. Drinking water worked for the first half of yesterday but by the evening I was nearly demented with hunger.

Knito, try some zero coke in the arvo, might not be extra healthy, but no cals or sugar, keeps me going on fast days, or mineral water, any flavour, still very low cal, yes water becomes too hard at times. Remember a container of carrot sticks, celery capsicum or cucumber… This all sustains you up to dinner. Even a hard boiled egg, very filling. I often have a few cherry tomatoes sliced with a 1/4 ‘d hard boiled egg for lunch, low low cals and satisfying, but most fast days can get through to dinner… Thanks to zero coke! 🙂
Great news Rocksy, your starting well.
Weight loss will show before you expect it, keep it going so don’t lose heart, IT WILL HAPPEN but fluid is the best advice, many trips to the loo,, tummy gurgles are a positive… 🙂 … CG xx

Hi everyone, thanks for welcoming me to your chat. I only decided on Tuesday that I would try this. Yesterday was my first fast day and it didn’t go well. Something happened when I got home and I was very stressed so I turned to my old favourite – cheese. Grrr, I was so angry with myself. I’m not sure if I will get a chance to fast again this week, but whether or not I do I am planning to make Mondays and Thursdays my fast days. My starting weight on Monday was 83kg, I’m hoping to get to 79kg before my daughter turns 1 next month. I also need to get back to exercising.

A question for everyone, does anyone on here just eat absolutely nothing on their fasting days? Or maybe just a salad for dinner? This is what I am thinking of doing.

Uptightoutasight, it sounds very difficult living in a country without knowing the language. viedo looks beautifiul, I’d love to go some day, but I’m so in love with Catalonia, I always end up there. I can imagine the Spanish making someone unlucky bean finder pay for the whole cake, I bet they have a lot of swallowers so they don’t have to foot the bill:)

Connecticut, oh dear, I am jealous. that would be the place I’d go if I’d ever move to the States. I mean, I won’t, I’m too much of a European girl. I love being so close to so many cultures and languages, it’s so easy to go abroad here. And yet I always feel a bit home, still. But getting back to Connecticut, I was only slightly younger than Rory on Gilmore Girls and the image you get of small town Connecticut is like a dream to me. And the added pleasure of being close to your son, you are bound to have a wonderful time. I will want to hear all about it.

I’m from the northern, Dutch-speaking part (just south of Antwerp). Lovely place (but cold in Woiter 🙂 ) Tourist-wise, it’s a bit niche, but I love it here (as much as Barcelona even if the weather is worse).
http://i.imgur.com/6KQi4jq.jpg

I love that you guys use the word champignons as well. It’s the only word in Dutch you can use for those particular mushrooms. I’m learning so much from you all.

I know what you mean, Foxy. I feel like I missed half a lifetime of conversation. I feel a bit out of the loop. I’ll be using my FD tomorrow to catch up.

Rocksy, it will get a lot easier very soon as well. Just finding your optimal routine and letting your body get used to the fasting is going to make a huge difference.

I hadn’t felt dizzy in ages and this weak I’ve been feeling a bit light-headed when standing up. Before 5:2, this happened to me several time a day, and I thought it was just how I was built but it practically disappeared this last year. I hope it’s just a cycle thing, I used to faint on a practically monthly basis when I wasn’t on birth control pills yet (sorry to bring it up, fine manfolk of this thread). Anyone have any exprerience with light-headedness and what could cause it?

@flemishcurves, I have been to Liege, Brussels and Bruges from memory. All very nice. I will let you know if I find any Luke Danes serving coffee in Connecticut.

Fasting today, weigh in tomorrow. Starting from a new low point this morning, (100grams!) so this bodes well for good news for the official weigh in!

Already such a massive post and I’m adding to it. @meeeee (5 Ms!), I drink water, herbal tea, sometimes a little coffee during the day and only get solids/calories after 6pm. On Mondays I eat fresh soup (always under 150kcal for 2 big mugs and on Thursdays I pick something different for dinner every week. Then I end my day with a latte (80-100ml semi-skimmed milk with 70ml espresso). On Mondays I usually stay under 200kcal for the whole day and on Thursdays I try to stay under 350. It’s harder to fill yourself up with something other than soup, I’ve noticed, I need the extra 150-200 kcal to feel happy and satiated. To be honest, I only did this very gradually. It took me almost a year to comfortably eat nothing but my dinner (and keep them so low).

I would maybe try a true fast (no solids/calories for 36hrs) but I have a real-life 5:2 buddy and I like what we have going, I’m not going to ask her to try it. I’m not curious enough to disrupt her routine.

I don’t know if this helps?

Hi all, Happy fast day to those fasting today. Meeeee, knitomat, Andrew, Catherine and FB, another one bites the dust. Finished on 504 cals yesterday and for the first time I wasn’t hungry (day 38).

I weigh nearly every day first thing in the morning; no change in weight this morning; slight disappointment. I seem to assume I should weigh less after a fast day. Oh well, just more incentive to be careful today – I’m doing alternate days.

FlemishCurves I used to get light-headed occasionally when getting up from bending over. It must have been a blood-pressure thing because I haven’t had it since my doc put me on blood pressure tablets. I’m hoping to come off them again once I get a bit lighter.

Well I’m off to work. Keep your AUSSIE DETERMINATION.

@uptightoutasight hahaha that made me laugh a lot harder than it should’ve (people were staring). You can send him right this way, if you do. Although I was always more of a Marty-girl myself (unpopular opinion).

Wow, you’ve been places! Not often I find someone who’s been to so many cities in Belgium (and remembers them). Often I have to remind people Belgium is not a city in the Netherlands. Antwerp isn’t really like any of those three. Maybe a mix between Liège and Brussels? We definitely have the best shopping in the country, though. TBH, we have a bit of everything.

Good Morning All
Meeeee hang on it gets easier with time, give yourself couple of weeks to settle into routine.
Rocksy, you have an amazingly correct attitude towards this. Makes things easier with right attitude for ourselves. I am still in the process of achieving the right attitude as yours. Well, One day…….. 🙂
Knitomat, are you weighing yourself. Most of us felt that tape measures did not change for us for couple of weeks while we dropped some weight as per scales and clothes start to git better as well. How about your clothes? Are you fitting any better in them. There is another member in this thread who reported no weight loss for 5 weeks and suddenly weight dropped. All of us are made up of different compositions and may show changes differently. Stick with it and you will see a change for sure, especially when you are eating right during your non fast days too.
Are you exercising or walking? I mean try and add some walks if you can and if you are exercising, maybe stop for a week and see if you notice any change. All the best……

Also, I know that having a diet drink is not very healthy, but as CG said until you get into the habit, try having a can of coke zero or pepsi max to beat those hunger pangs. Really helps. Like CG, I also rely on coke zero for lunch time hunger pangs and it works like a magic for me too. Just a suggestion….

Hi team, just in from watering green houses before the storms come, also riding and chanting whilst my boy’s watched on in disbelief. 😆
Just a though to those of you who feel disappointed with their fast, keep in mind ” normal” days can be quite low cal too. Don’t think of them as “free for all’s” , you can still keep up with the water, zero coke, low cal meals, but extra protein, bit more cheese, larger portions of meat etc… YOU CAN DO THIS remember the less you eat the more you lose. Don’t go over board of coarse, your health is more important, but just be mindful of your choices EVERYDAY, question yourself regarding treats… Do I really need this.. Or ..all of this? It is all in your favour… Good luck team, mind set kicks in with AUSSIE DETERMINATION 24/7 and just becomes habit… 🙂 … CG xxx

Hi all

A few people are struggling with fasts hang in there it does get easier by about week three I found.

Fasting today woke up with headache and hungry may be a long long today, was hot overnight I was sweating when I woke up, now in air conditioned comfort feel much better. A black coffee down. Will make up some strawberry water and sip. Planning boiled egg about 11am then a cup of soup then onto chicken tenders and veg for dinner and a frothy coffee jarrah as a fast day treat before bed. Still on holidays go back to work next week.

I have only 1kg to loose of my 3.5kg I put on over Christmas. So amazing this program.

Everyone have a lovely fast day. Check in weigh in day Friday.

Hi meeee,
There are guidelines for what you eat on fast days. Basically Mosley suggests about 500 calories for women and 6oo calories for men but there is a calculator on the website in which you can enter your details and it gives you an accurate number. So, that means you eat 500 calories worth of food.
However, some people choose to only consume water on fast days. Others fast two days running. It’s up to you.
I’ve just purchased the 5-2 Fasting book so I can read the original source because many posts include individual opinions and seem to be flavoured by common myths about dieting.
The main aim of the 5-2 Fast method is to elongate life and to be disease free. Weight loss is a by-product rather than the purpose. So maybe focus on longevity rather than a number on a scale or a tape measure. I’m hoping that is what is happening in my case because the tape measure around my waist hasn’t changed in 6 weeks of strictly following the guidelines.

Hi CG, thanks for your advice but I don’t like soft drinks of any kind. I find the bubbles hurt my throat when they come back and I feel bloated after I drink them. And as for ‘diet’ drinks, there’s plenty of science that says they are really bad for the body. I don’t have a problem drinking water. I love it! I have a bottle with a filter in it and the water is delicious.

Knitomat, that’s great for you, they are suggestions for what works for others to help suppress hunger and also recommended in the book. Most of us have read THE BOOK and advise what we have found works for us. What works for some does not always work for others. Once you have read THE BOOK please let us know of any “diet myths” you find on our thread so we can amend it. Also if any ” individual opinions” are totally incorrect, again the team only suggests what they find work for them and pass them on as hints. I appreciate your input….CG

Knitomat its a really good step that you are planning to read the book. Most of us have read the book and are working towards our goals as per the tips and tricks from the book. You are right that weight loss is a by product for this WOE. However, the opinions mentioned here are in regards to weight loss as that’s what we (most of us) have been aiming for in addition to good health.

All the members in the thread pass on individual opinions as that is the only thing that we share here and learn from each other. We are no experts, just experienced or non experienced 5:2ers. So opinions will flow.

I have learnt a lot from this thread. Personally, I am not an advocate of drinking during fast days, however there are people who drink alcohol during fast days and make an allowance for that. Although, I wont do it myself, still I see no harm if others are doing it and still succeeding in their weight loss and other health issue goals.

But I have learnt a lot from your post today about diet sodas, thanks for the feedback!!!

Second fast day today, week 1 of my new life! Seems to be going really well, not actually feeling that hungry and now that I’ve already done one day I know it’s completely doable. I thought I would massively splurge out the next day but strangely I didn’t, maybe just the fact that I had done the hard work made me not want to put it all back on straight away! Great to hear all the success stories!

Good morning everyone,
I had my fast day yesterday with the KONJAC noodles and miso soup. I then had a 250 cal. lite’n’easy meal in the evening. I hoped on the scales this morning and the difference from yesterday morning was not as much as it usually is after a fast day. Although I didn’t go over in calories (except for a small handful of pistachio’s), I think the difference was having 2 meals. I have found that a really healthy smoothie and then a meal in the evening works best for me. Along with loads of water, tea and sparkling water. I think it was you CG that said once that on fast days we tend to be in the toilet a lot…. I can relate to that. I think the people at work think there might be something wrong with me…HAHA.
I got up this morning and went straight to the gym before breakfast after my fast day. By the time I had finished an hour later my legs were like jelly, but I was still not hungry. I did have my breakfast and a coffee and feel great now.
By the way Meeeee (5 e’s)- Cheese, OMG, so good…. but I think I have to choose boiled eggs as my fast day alternative to cheese….
Bring on the day… 🙂

Good morning everyone, lots of interesting posts and comments and tips on here this morning…..we really are a wonderful group….it’s great to see that everyone are individuals and are working out what works best for them in their foods choices and eating times…..for new members who may be experiencing some trouble adapting to the fast day, and hunger…..just keep experimenting to find out what works best for you….there are no failures on here, just trial and error….you will work it out 🙂

My fast day yesterday ended up being around 1200 cals….but I did fast until lunch time and walked my dog as usual….it has paid off because I am another 300 grams down and can say I’m the lightest I’ve been in about 10 years! 74.1 kg woo hooo

Probably won’t weigh in tomorrow as usual as have a few busy days lined up….have a great fast day everyone fasting and good luck for everyone who are weighing in tomorrow 😀

Off to the Valley of the Giants today and lunch in Denmark…..WA that is FC! lol

Hi team, just as an aside re diet coke/ sodas, in the search bar at the top of your page, type in Diet Sodas, the first listing if from Mimi, co writer of THE BOOK, also other threads relating to this question In Michaels book , page 103, he does say ” Find no-cal drinks you like and then drink them in quantity” .. No way would I suggest quantity of Zero coke, maybe a glass mid afternoon but read up, the choice as always is yours… CG xx

@allyatsea, I felt that the reason I didn’t binge on the days after, was because I think my stomach had already shrunk after one day of fasting. I think our stomachs just start shrinking back to the girth they should be and the transition happens very quickly. I think that’s one of the biggest perks of IF: with other calorie restrictive routines, people often have to teach their stomachs very slowly what a normal amount of food is and they’re often hungry for weeks/months before the stompach resets. With IF, it happens immediately and you don’t feel deprived while your stomach is reducing in size.

CG, I drank 33Oml to 500ml of Lipton Ice Tea Zero Sugar for the first year of 5:2 because I felt more comfortable knowing I could have something sweet and bubbly. I’ve since stopped (I don’t actively remember when, I just forgot to buy them as I didn’t crave them anymore) but I don’t regret my decision to drink them one little bit. They got me through the FD and they were only 15kcal per 500ml bottle. Are they the healthiest drinks? Hell no. Does it really matter that much? I think not.
I also ate banana/vanilla-flavoured rice cakes at 38kcal/cake. Rice cakes are highly processed and these had chemical flavourings added to them but I enjoyed them, they filled me up and they were nice and sweet and kept me under my 500 kcal. No regrets. I still eat corn thins I buy in Spain especially because they don’t sell them anywhere else. They are absolutely delicious and only 30kcal but processed and high in salt. Don’t really care. Everything else I eat is fresh/cooked from scratch. I wouldn’t worry about the diet pop too much if it helps you get healthier overall. Just my 2 cents.

Fast day today..!! Got hungry this morning so had a toast.. Was so tempted to have a sandwich while making it for kids..!! So used the 10 min rule..!! Decided to read the posts in this group and then eat it..!! And now after reading all the posts from everyone.. Feeling determined not to give in..!! So a
Massive THANKS…TO ALL..!! You guys make it so easy… .!!

I have reading posts about alcohol and diet soft drink and coffee white.

My opinion is you can have what you like to get you through your fast days.

If you want white coffee have it, you want diet soda have it you want alcohol have it just account for it.

this is because everyone is different and have different needs wants etc.

I wouldn’t have alcohol, that was my undoing over Christmas and I plan to stay off it till March but if you want it have it

I wouldn’t have alcohol on fast days, I’d be too hungry and break the fast for sure! I don’t usually drink diet soft drinks but, in this heat, I would if I felt like it, I think you have to decide what your priorities are and go for it. If you love water then go for it too.
I definitely do have coffee with a splash of non fat milk in it to start the day and drink a few on fast days, just counting the calories. Some things are just too important to give up!

I think everyone who does this diet should read the book, if not before, then soon after starting. It is inspiring for starters!
Plus once you become a devotee you can go on a mission and spread the word clutching your own copy as you go door to door like the Mormans with your new found zeal! 😉

Hi All
I too am doing a fast day today. Catherine- I never get up in the night but after my fast day I do have to go to the toilet. Foxy- I just went to the Valley of Giants and Denmark in the holidays (Im from Melbourne)Such lovely places!! I have a diet soft drink when I feel like I need to have something sweet on my fast days

Hi, The book arrived in the post this morning and I’ve scoured it hence my comment today about diet drinks. As I mentioned the book mentions sparkling water a couple of times and definitely not diet drinks except in the calorie counter list. I guess I was surprised that people who are so concerned about their long-term health would still drink diet drinks.
However, if soft drink works for some people then that is what it is.
I was also please to read that not only does the book say not to give up coffee, but it says coffee is good you you. Hooray! I love coffee and have no problems drinking it black. Mmmmm.
What I am rethinking is soy milk. It seems to be all sorts of no good-almost double the GI in milk but 1/3 the fat.
Wow, this does take some thinking!

Thanks FlemishCurves, that makes complete sense! just hope it keeps working now… Just one general question to everyone on here: Do you get cold on your fast days? I mean maybe it’s just me or maybe the air conditioning is on too strong in this office, but I tend to get really cold and shivery. Wondering if I’m alone?

Hi allyatsea, (I hope that name means you live in a yacht he he)
It is not unusual to feel cold on FDs. When our body processes food it creates heat so when we don’t eat you can feel cold. You can search the posts using the search function and usually find answers rather than trawling through the zillions of posts.

Hi knitomat, yep, the allyatsea login actually did come from when I lived on a boat! It was years ago mind but I got used to it and use it for everything now. Ok, good to know about the coldness. I feel a bit silly here with a blanket on my legs when it’s 25 degrees outside. Will check previous posts to see what others were experiencing

Knitomat, the long term health is what we all want, but, obesity is a world wide epidemic, so the reason we are all doing 5:2 is to lose weight, hence reep the benefits of not carrying so much fat around our organs, followed by long term health. I am the first to admit, I joined 5:2 for the weight loss, already feeling the benefits of not carrying so much excess with my bad back, but also it is a healthy, no cost way of life. No matter WHY anyone is doing 5:2 or HOW they are doing it, we all benefit from this way of eating, this way of life. So my take on it loosing weight IS a health benefit, stopping possible heart problems, diabetes etc…. Have a nice day…CG
