  • Wow it sure is gonnna take time to keep up with posts now so many of them! Fantastic!! Heading home today….just waiting for OH to wake up so I can strip the bed & wash the sheets & remake and then the towels. Breakfast & out of here.
Will fast tomorrow back in our own home. As we’re travelling back today just sitting in a car doesn’t make for a successful FD for me. I need to be busy. But really looking forward to getting back on the 5:2 Wagon aaand to eating less! Boy so many meals out and friends to catch up with means so much food in the belly and even OH is ready to eat less and healthier. So I think it will be an easy first FD as I’m so ready for it. Think my body’s saying please please!

Wil be happy to get home to my computer too where I can post replies for everyone. I miss doing that. Looks like we have a great group to start the year off in fine fashion! Let’s do it together and meet our goals or just the next goal which may only be a few kilos. Small achievable goals are way better. SJ XXXX

Greetings all. Goodness me but since I posted this time yesterday a few pages have whizzed by. Hopefully I’ll get to know you newbies soon. One of you mentioned having shakes as a meal replacement. I’m personally not a fan as most I’ve seen contain quite a lot of artificial sweeteners. They are just as bad as sugar I feel and some have nasty side effects.
Jade I’m glad I didn’t upset you with my gun control comments. Sometimes I forget to engage my brain before I speak out.
Wow Up, you do have some snake experiences. They are without a doubt my most feared creature on the planet. I can cope with spiders, close encounters with lions and leopards but snakes freak me out big time.
I’m having another fast free week but will start again next Monday. I’m still watching what I eat but just not counting calories at this point. Mind you , t the last box of chocolates has been devoured I’ll have less temptation to contend with.
    Happy FD all.
    πŸ˜ŠπŸ™‚πŸ˜„

This is amazing!! So many posts…did we just turn a whole new page in one day?!
Barb – glad you found the recipes; lots of good ideas for those who are into cooking and I think they are all quite simple and user-friendly because we’re all looking for ways to succeed here and not spend hours in the kitchen – which probably isn’t a good idea!
Bert – what a lovely story about your son and so touching. Sounds like you have brought up a very special young man πŸ™‚
GG – the four Ps are vital to the success of this wol and worth remembering for us all. I see you’re really getting to grips with all the emojis like PH – great fun!
PH – I just love your posts – you say the nicest things to everybody and also brighten up the place with your emojis! I’m looking forward to being able to do that too. I hope you enjoyed the pool.
CG – I bet you enjoyed being back in the pool too. It’s especially good for supporting the back and you can exercise safely without doing damage.
Gyps – not sure what my title is supposed to mean, but I love the sound of it!! I’ve clearly forgotten what my duties are, so you’d better remind me before I get the sack!!
Jade – I’m thrilled you’re staying with us and now that Gyps has given you an official title, I guess you’re stuck with us!! Isn’t it brilliant that we now have so many people in different time zones – that way there will nearly always be someone posting whenever we log on…yippee!! πŸ™‚
SJ – I’m sure you will be glad to get home and into your own routine…holidays are wonderful but there’s nothing quite like home. Did your OH do any painting while you were away?
I decided to try and get through the last of the leftover goodies today so that I won’t be able to sabotage my efforts next week. It’s time to get back into a proper routine now and also to commit to regular exercise. So I shared out the last of the pudding, cake and choccies with my OH, two daughters and my sister and the cupboards are bare at last!! By coincidence there was an article in the paper today by Dr. Mosley and he mentioned that eating your calories is probably better for us than drinking them as it not only keeps us fuller for longer but we also get the added benefits of the fibre in fruit and veg. He also advises against diet drinks.
I don’t know if you have heard of a custom we have here in Ireland called Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Christmas; it’s celebrated on the 6th of January and was traditionally the day when women were to waited on and allowed to put their feet up because they had done all the hard work on the real Christmas! So, ladies, tell your menfolk or just treat yourself to a lazy day and do something just for you on the 6th! If anyone questions it, just tell them it’s an old Irish custom and they will be cursed if they try to interfere!! πŸ˜‰

Dawg – I was so long writing my post that I crossed with yours. I had to go and collect my daughter from a bus in the middle of writing. Best of luck getting back into the fasting – this is good proof for the newbies that 5:2 is adaptable and flexible and that is why we will all succeed in our own time. πŸ™‚

Up – forgive my memory loss – meant to say that it is only natural to feel a bit strange about getting into the routine of fasting again. I had a similar experience some time ago. Just think of a pattern that worked for you before and plan your meals for that; then bite the bullet and just do it! I know you can. Before you know it, you will be back into this wol like the old hand that you are xx

Just checking to see how everyone’s going with your fasting.

UP. Not silly at all about feeling nervous. Feeling the same about the fast and the wine. Back to the soda water with lime juice for a few days to get back to normal. Like your fast day menu. I’ll have to try having a coffee in the morning. I usually only have water until I have to have my first egg. You will complete your fast ..as will I because we are seasoned Aussie Determination members.. WE CAN DO THIS,standing on our heads πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

Feeling tired after the pool today so had to have my egg πŸ“πŸ“when I got home with some cucumber and tomatoes. Going over to my daughters house this afternoon to meet my brother and his family on their way back to Sydney so will need to save my coffee until then. She is cooking fresh muffins so will have to be strong. So good having her living close. Love it. πŸ’žπŸ’ž

Bert. Your family sounds lovely and you are rightly proud of them. The example we give our children by loving them hopefully will stand them in good stead for the future πŸ’œπŸ’œ. As we are from all around the world, USA, Scotland,Ireland, and the almighty Aus we all post at different times. You will find some of us post in the mornings, some at night and some at various times during the day. We will all help you out with answers to your questions from all over so I’m sure it will be OK. Hope you are having a successful fast day..YOU CAN DO THIS 😊😊😊

Barb. How are you going? It is hard after a restless night but you CAN DO THIS,! The advice Bart Gave you is spot on. I too used to have lots of restless nights and found that I needed to make the room darker and go to bed earlier. It takes time and the way to change those sleeping patterns is to set the alarm and get up early and resist having a nap for a few days ..then going to bed earlier and you will be tired enough to sleep. It takes a while but your sleeping patterns will eventually change πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€the holiday period has put me out of whack and so have to start this process again myself.

Have a great rest of the day everyone and remember. WE CAN DO ANYTHING G WE SET OUR MINDS TOπŸ˜£πŸ˜£πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I’m with you SJ. There have been four posts whilst I have been writing mine. It is good to get on the healthy eating wagon. So glad you had such a great time in Perth. Your house swap was a great idea. Hoping the new year brings with it good things and the strength to deal with whatever is thrown your way. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Fit. LOVE. The idea of Woman’s Christmas! The Irish certainly have some great ideas. We will have to remind everyone over here in Aus to celebrate it each year. πŸ’ƒπŸŽ„πŸ’ƒπŸŽ„πŸ’ƒπŸŽ„πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆπŸŽˆ. Thanks for the nice words. I too look forward to your posts. The pool was great. Just sinking into the 35 degree heat and doing the aerobic exercises with my cute exercise physiologist calling the shots was a great way to start back into routine. 😘😘😘

Doggy. What a lovely family time you continue to have. Time enough for getting back into fasting again when all is back to normal. EnjoyπŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Hi all! Well I got completely drunk last night and feel yuk in tummy . I’m on my first fast day wit u guys. Eaten a tomato a few slices cucumber w balsamic n 1 coffee. So far so good and its only 4 &3/4 hrs till dinner. Not that I’m counting!!

Hi team, back from the pool, exercise won’t start till next week, the gym floor is being re-sanded and strained……..so it was good for me just staring back slowly. I have been trying to do just M-W-F but one of the girls asked me to come tomorrow with her….oh well, it’s well over due for me, so gladly accepted and will try to work hard to get the muscles and nerves back into condition since the back surgery. 6 Months now, and feeling good, but the leg still gives me billio, so the exercises should help πŸ˜ƒ I have my chiro due soon as well as a massage mmmmm😌, but forget the dates so need to find out! Damned age! AND I didn’t write them down……
Up,I totally understand you being nervous, even us seasoned fasters have to start back from scratch but at least we are not novices, we know well what a fast day menu should be πŸ˜€
Fit, I love the sound of the Women’s Christmas, what a lovely idea.πŸ˜‰ as long whoever looks after her and does the cooking, cleans up after themselves and doesn’t leave it for her for the next day πŸ™„So many traditions get left behind with progress which is sad, shortbread was really a New Year gift. I do hope your weather is starting to settle, our heat has subsided now, it’s lovely, but we know it will be short lived.
It’s 1:30 here and I’m not interested in food at all….yetπŸ˜„ so will hold out for as long as I can. I think I had dinner at 7:00 last night so my fasting is going really well, with just a small milky coffee this morning, half drunk because I was running late, then a black coffee after the pool with the girls πŸ˜‡?
To our newbies, don’t sweat the small stuff, if you find you can’t hold out, don’t panic, have the nibble (an apple etc) and move on. There is no such thing as failing ☺️ you are still eating less, and healthier than before joining us. If your cals add up to 600-700 it is still far better than it would have been. Give yourself time to feel comfortable with fasting and try not to obsess on food. Stay busy, use the stairs if at work, get out in the garden if at home, I find diet sodas very helpful (coke zero) in keeping me feeling full, but don’t go overboard with it. Maybe a glass or two. I don’t like soda water, never have, but if you do even better. Just plain tap water is fine, add a slice of lemon or mint and your away πŸ˜‹ to making it more interesting. Make up some flavoured tea bags, put them in a jug a filled with cold water, they are lovely and so many flavour available πŸ˜„ Around 4:00 in the arvo seems to be the hardest time for most, that’s when your hard boiled egg is your savour. It’s surprising how satisfying it is ☺️
Think positive team, WE CAN DO THIS AND WE WILL, it’s only one day and the benefits are for the rest of your life. Remember how proud you feel when you get into bed tonight knowing YOU DID ITπŸ˜ƒ you ARE in control, you ARE stronger than you think so BRING IT ON πŸ˜‰ xxxxxxxxx

Doggy, I hope your relaxing and enjoying the respite from the family, building up the energy for when they return πŸ˜‰ xxxxxxxx

I took advantage of free time today and read some of the AD “archives” – going back to when the calendar flipped from 2014 to 2015. I have been alternately laughing and tearing up over your stories of perseverance, resilience, and loss….it was very moving. One day, somehow, I intend to come give you all a big hug.

How’s the FD going over in Australia? I’m still in the planning stages here, clearing the house of evil. I cooked a big Brunswick stew, which is basically a BBQ soup with smoked brisket/pork/chicken, onions, tomatoes, corn, lima beans, and they cook it in huge vats down in Brunswick, GA near the beach. It’s not FD fare but will give me plenty of energy – and I needed energy to get through all that reading πŸ™‚

Ha Dawg, if I engaged my brain every time I spoke, I’d hardly say a word. Didn’t upset me in the least, obviously – but then traditional southerners are hard to upset. That is, until people go hijacking nature preserves and threatening to overthrow the gov’t. Then I can get a little testy. LAST POLITICAL COMMENT, I SWEAR. AT least for a while.

CG hope the exercises go well – you sure do have some Aussie Determination to push on through the pain. I know you’ve been doing that for a while! Enjoy the massage if you can remember when it is πŸ™‚ Been in that spot many times lol.

Fit I love the idea of a Women’s Christmas, and we certainly deserve it as we do create most of the festive things there are in this world, at Christmas time and the rest of the year. I’ll be sure to advise OH of his duties on the 6th.

Good luck to all of you wonderful ADers. I’m looking forward to the FD fun tomorrow. A bit nervous too, so I hope yours went well! jade xx

Hi Jade, what a lovely post mate. Yes my pain was pretty intolerable at times but the worst is over. You learn to live with it, never ignoring it, but moving on, getting things done, but above all, and the team know me for this, being bloody minded!πŸ˜„ these’s no time for self pitty if you want to enjoy life (especially if you live alone). Golly That soup sounds more like a stew! Enjoy, I doubt I’d get through much of it. Taste buds do change after being with 5:2, things I used to love don’t get much of a look in now 😟 you don’t notice it happening, it just happens. I told the team once, I saw an add on telly for some hotel/resturant, they showed meals being dished up, all crumbed, fried and heaps of chips. It all looked so greasy I actually felt sick looking at it. I loved deep fried foods, but not any longer.
3:45pm and still not hungry, having a long black coffee, making spinach and fetta in fillo sausage rolls for dinner πŸ˜€ so one with salad is perfect, mmmmm.
Stick to your guns team (sorry for the timely pun with recent concersations) you ARE in control, not the tummy gurgles, have a drink, it’s only thurst……YOU CAN DO THISπŸ˜„ I know you can πŸ˜‰ xxxxxxx

    Hi Countrygal:

Your philosophy and attitude are amazing. There is no wonder why this thread is so popular.

Have a happy and healthy new year!

Simcoeluv thank you so much πŸ˜ƒcoming from you that is a real compliment. I think we all feel on this thread that you are the ruling body so I’m glad you approve. I love this way of life and eating so much, I know what it’s done for me in such a short time, I relish the compliments too πŸ˜‰ but would gladly shout it’s praise from the roof tops so in welcoming new members is a way to spread the good news 😊 , it’s a joy….and spurring on our regular members out of complacency back fires on me too…….thank you again, and every happiness to you for the New Year ….xxxxxx

    Hi Countrygal:

I doubt many feel I am a ruling body, and I absolutely know my approval is unnecessary to confirm you as a wonderful and leading example of how to be successful, not only with 5:2, but with achieving goals whatever they may be. People lead by example, and you are a very positive example. I simply pass on basic information.

    Thank you!

Possibly Simcoeluv a lot of your info can come from as, our trials and success, it’s what we/I pass onto any newbie. This WOL can be daunting, can even sound impossible, but magnetic because of the results ☺️ no info is wasted whoever it comes from. I do appreciate your words, thank you again ☺️
Up, perfect reflection for what is happening to me 😟 at least sleeping on my tummy is more comfortable now πŸ˜‰
    Just got an email;

The fact that there is a highway to hell
And only a staircase to heaven,
It says a lot about the anticipated traffic!πŸ˜‰

Still haven’t eaten today, wondering weather to have dinner or just a cuppa? I’ll see what happens once I sit still for a while πŸ˜ƒ….xxxxxx

What a awesome day I have had doing what I do best, bring a real nurse. And the FD WENT WELL TOO. Back up again at it tomorrow.
It has rained in buckets for the past24hrs here on the coast PH ARE YOU ENJOYING THIS WEATHER AS WELL? There is more due tomorrow.
The insomnia will go eventually, we have all and still are experiencing that …..it is worse if you already have the predisposition to it. Are you also experiencing feeling cold more than usual….this is another of 5:2 symptoms which will subside over time.

How great for SIMCOLOVE to congratulate us ….esp CG ,on our wonderful thread ….it certainly means alot when we receive a worthy compliment from one who knows this WOL back to front. A BIG THANK YOU FROM ME SIMCOLOVE XXXXXX.
WOULD PLS ONE OF YOU WIZARDS.TELL ME IN DETAIL HOW TO POST PICS!!!!😀I Have tried several times and am now at 5he point ofπŸ˜₯😧😟get the feeling,!.

Love the pic UP but alas I have lost no inches off my boobs in the 9kg loss. Hoping for some soon. Like the stairway/highway email CG . You are rally smashing it aren’t you. πŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ’šπŸ€—πŸ‘
On ya gyps. Well done Yahooooo! πŸ€—πŸ’šπŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ€—

I too have completed successful fast day 468 cals and a cup of tea to go. laughing! πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

Off to bed now after my cuppa.

    Hope everyone else did OK.

Hello all. Just wanted to report on my first ever fasting day. I had black coffee at 8am, hot water & lemon juice at 10am, numerous glasses of water during the day and held off having anything to eat until NOON!! I am really happy to report I had Misso soup with spinach & mushroom for dinner & 150g cherries & intend having hot milk later tonight. Altogether my day equaled……….drum roll………. 437 calories including the milk.
Thank you everyone, I can’t tell you how much your encouragement meant to me & how much it helped me look ahead. xxx

FIT….Ah, to be sure if there’s a ray of colour in the grey, or a patch of light to be seen thru the fog it’ll be yourself who foinds it! The Rainbow is to be consulted when all is gloom. You brighten things up! Nothing to work on, you glow in the dark, an optimist who speaks rainbow. You’ll be knowing that. Others may frown upon your apparent lack of solemnity on occasions they like to fill with righteous gloom. You’ll likely find something in the situation that makes you giggle. I should love you to attend My wake. xx gyps

Yeh, here’s to us, Poiple! Bloody well done! xx

Cheers, Barb! You did it! tomorrow we’ll drink to it! xx

    Hi All.

Fast day today was a little bit of a challenge but due to supportive husband we pulled through. We had to go into town to have darling husband’s stitches taken out of his hand and needed to go to Telstra to organise changing of phone to new house. Queue for Telstra was out the door and they made a booking for 90 minutes later.

Decided to go and sort out the carpet for the new house while we were waiting but that did not fill in enough time (and as it was lunch time) we decided to have lunch to fill in the rest of the time. At home we would usually just have a salad and a small serve of protein such as a tin of tuna or an egg but finding something similar with the limited choices in a country town was not that easy. We decided we would have a baked potato with coleslaw and as that would be far more calories than we usually have, we would skip our protein tonight and just have our low starch vegies.

When the time came for our evening meal I was starting to feel like I needed more and suggested that we have a cold sausage left over from last nights dinner. Darling husband asked whether that would be too many calories and obviously I had to admit that it would be. Once hearing that he decided against it so obviously I couldn’t “give in” when he was being strong so we had our salad and called it quits. I am currently drinking hot water to keep the hunger pains at bay and will have an early night.

Note to self – plan ahead – carry something with us on fast days in case things don’t go as planned.

As I mentioned yesterday, numbers on the scale are all over the place but noticed today that pants feel more comfortable which is good news.

Ha,ha, Great quote CG! My highway to hell better bypass the fridge door! going to bed early to keep my halo intact!

Simcoeluv, Thanks. We appreciate her, too. you both do a good job in the leadership dept. Keep up the good work in 2016!

How wonderful, you have done it ☺️ and it’s now behind you, well done team. That’s the beauty of the support here, also realising YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You do feel obliged not only to yourself but the team to succeed, and it’s worked πŸ˜‰ I’m so pleased for you all.
I came in at 345 and still not hungry. Our mind set is so powerful making our fast days so very doable πŸ˜€. The same willpower is possible on non fasting days to give you control over what you eat, the portion you eat, and the treats you eat! We are not here to starve ourselves, golly it’s only two days a week, and the other five days consisting of healthy choices……congratulations to you all.
Our team members around the world will be just starting their fasts and I’m sure they will do just as well, why, because they have the same AUSSIE DETERMINATION as we do πŸ˜ƒ……off to bed for me team, nighty nite team xxxxx

    GG. are you ready?
    right. HOW TO POST PICKS.

FIRSTLY, I DON’T KNOW IF IT IS THE SAME PROCESS ON AN IPAD. but on my desk top monster, this is it:

    1. upload foto from your computer onto photo bucket.

2.click on the foto once it is on bucket. it will go to another screen . with a set of boxes on the right. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY OF THE BOXES. ignore anything written in them, it will only confuse you.

    3. look at the codes BESIDE the boxes. find the one that says HTML.

    4. RIGHT click on the HTML code. (at the same time watch the box beside it.) You will see a flash of yellow and if you’re quick, the word ‘copied’ as it flashes too. then it will just be a white box with some shite written in it again.

    5. at this point it is easy if you have two screens up, to go to our thread post box and left click to get on it. then right click and see the menu box come up. there you will see ‘paste’. so left click on paste.

you have done it right if you see lots of lines of goobledegook (computer lingo) come onto the blank postbox. (if you only see one line, you have clicked on the wrong code. ONLY html works) So you can now add a comment under (or above) that. and just ‘submit’. Your photo will only appear as a photo once you Submit your post.

It is best to do one foto one post as the thread won’t allow heaps of fotos together.(and you lose the lot) but two or even three usually come through okay.

Luck. look forward to seeing your piccies. Love the sound of your lake. lucky duck. How does it go in flood times? Nothing seems tobe happening re monsoon torrentials here, just some good steady rain. all green a again. I’m sure you’re a ‘real’ nurse even when you’re not working. It’s an affliction that money just can’t buy. I’m familiar with the breed. Nite. xxx

Hi all. I have come in at 381, didn’t eat until 3. Boys came over for dinner so a challenge for me but got through it.

Well done to everyone who succeeded today.

    Good Morning all……
Congrats on making it through FD! Today is a new day, so what you put off yesterday, you can do today! Nice glass of wine, cold sausage, the world or fridge is at your finger tips!
Yesterday went a little hay wire for the good I believe….. Remember me saying my husband was up early preparing sauce. Well, our oldest had to work last night at couldn’t resist a bowl before work, so we had an early dinner about 2:30 pm. We’re Italian, so we’re ready for sauce anytime….
Time flies, and soon I realize it’s bed time….. Which means I only had a cup of coffee since 3 pm…. Wow! I wasn’t even hungry! Double Wow! Nothing calling my name! Triple wow! And the kicker, I did not wake up hungry……. Okay, I really need to find a different word but WOW!
Today, I head back to work while on my FD, I feel great and excited!
on FD, does anyone chew gum, to keep the hunger at bay? I’m going to try it today.
So, an egg for breakfast poached 70 cal. Cup of soup and sugar free jello for lunch 60 calories. The boys are having left overs so some veg and tin tuna for dinner, maybe a spoon of cottage cheese if I am under my cal.

I wish you all a fantastic day! May your thoughts turn into beautiful rays of sunshine, that you can never run away from!

Jade….. If your in Brunswick, Ga and I’m in Fl, that means we’re less than a 1/2 days drive from each other…. How cool is that!

I did it Bert not even hungry. Amazing. Now let’s see if I can sleep all night πŸ‘πŸ‘
Gee got to watch this spelling checker….sleep turned into a word I wouldn’t want published!!

Congrats Barb…… I knew you could do it! I’m doing the happy dance for you……. Who would have thunk it, this new wol would be soooo simple!

    Hi All!
Very late getting to post today as I had to wait for my turn to use the computer…..really have to drag my OH off to the sales this week to look at ipads/tablets. Also spent the whole morning going through all our family photos – you get so caught up in memories and bittersweet moments. My daughter is making a photo book for her nana (OH’s mum who is going on 95) and all the family are gathering up their photos from over the years to put into the book for her. It will be a wonderful keepsake for everyone to cherish and I know it will mean the world to my MIL.
I’ve alot of work to do this week since ‘clearing out’ the cupboards yesterday has put me right back where I was on the scales this time last week! Never mind, I am not daunted and I know alot of it is food in transit. Also, now that all the goodies are gone, I will be building on the progress I make every week – so all will be well πŸ™‚ So, I’m fasting today with renewed determination…it’s now 1pm and all I’ve had is a black coffee.
CG – how right and proper that Simco has acknowledged your unique and amazing leadership, encouragement and example….so well deserved. Delighted to hear that you feel strong enough to add in more exercise; you really do embody aussie determination!! Loved the quote! πŸ™‚
GG – how nice to experience the satisfaction of doing the job you were born to do, but Gyps is right in saying that you never really switch it off – we’ve seen that care and wisdom here too xx Hope you get to post your photos πŸ™‚
Gyps – thank you for the lovely words. I would be honoured to be at your wake (obviously a long, long time from now!), no doubt sampling your wonderful moonshine and singing my head off as we Irish are known to do πŸ™‚ Great fasting too!! Xxxx
Bert – wow again!! This wol has some amazing and unexpected results and changing our appetites and attitudes to food is all part of the benefits. Well done!!
Katy – it’s brilliant to have your OH so strong and supportive – you can help each other through wobbly patches. Best of luck with all the house renovations πŸ™‚
Barb – excellent fast day!! Keep up the good work!! πŸ™‚
UP – brilliant photo and brilliant fast – I knew you could do it; woohoo!! πŸ™‚
PH – great fasting and exercise too; glad the weather has been more pleasant for you. Hope you had a good night’s sleep. Xxxx
I’m going to see if I can drag my lazy butt out for a walk with the dog…it will do us both good and I’m feeling inspired by how actively you have all set into this new year, renewed fasting and healthy routines. I’ll check in later when all you sleeping beauties are back on here xxxx

Such inspiration pouring out of Australia! And then Ireland – ah Fit, our rainbow through the gloom πŸ™‚ — all right I’m set, staircase to heaven it is. With a chorus of hallelujah for beloved CG, rightly recognized.
I’ve started the day off right with strong coffee and light cardio of puppy tummy rubs. If only chocolate weren’t bad for them, I’d have a truly β€œclean” house. Today could be the day I let the rest of the stash go in the bin.
Barb and Bert, sounds like you got a triple dose of Fit’s rainbow with your joyful FDs. Fantastic, and it’s inspiring to see how happy it made you. Bert, my reference to Brunswick was from childhood memories – I wish I lived that close to the ocean! But grew up much closer to Tennessee, up in the hills. You must love the Florida sunshine after living in NY, though I love NY also – very beautiful upstate and NY is a wonderful city to visit.
Katy glad your guy is all better, my word he’s a strong one isn’t he. Talk about Aussie determination! That’s really wonderful that he kept the FD boat afloat.
Gyps, thanks for those photo instructions, might give that a whirl, though my iPad is still smashed from an unlucky tangle with the fly swatter. I can’t be trusted around delicate objects though flies are safe, apparently – pretty sure that one laughed at me.
Gosh it’s like an infusion of joy here today (called it an infection at first, didn’t sound quite right – don’t want all you nurses curing that do we) – CG positively glowing, PH with your laughing angels, GG with your love of nursing & just singing through all the rain no doubt, and all the rest of you smashing a FD like it was a gnat… I think I’ll have what you’re all having (nod to When Harry Met Sally). Seriously thank you all for the lovely Monday cheering, just the thing to get me going right. Wobbly did you get through all right?
Up and CG, yes indeed sometimes there is a benefit to a shrinking top half – it’s nice to sleep comfortably on the tummy. With OH, 2 dogs 2 cats and me in/on the queen bed, sleeping in any position is a necessary skill.
Fit hope your photo memories are more sweet than bittersweet. Love drags us through quite the garden of emotions at times. X
Cheers to all, doing my best to follow your lead on this frosty FD morning – xx

Ok, sleep didn’t go well. I went to bed really late 12:45am then I had a great sleep until 4:15am and have been wide awake since then. Started to feel a headache coming on about 5am then started to feel really hungry at about 5:30 so decided to get up and have a dry biscuit and more water. Then gave up altogether and got out of bed at 6. The worst night sleep I have had ever, worse than my normal insomnia. I will be interested if this is just on my fasting days.

I nearly answered your note JL but thought if I start writing emails I will never get back to sleep.

Have a good day everyone. BTW it’s pouring cats & dogs here, has been most of the night.

Good morning team, evening Fit😊 and the rest of the world. Now that you newbies have succeeded with your first fast day, you’ll be running with the bit between your teeth πŸ˜‰ and you’ll find they do get easier. Sure, you get the ones which just don’t come together, you just can’t get that mind set, that inner self is fighting with the devil and will not let up. But you also find, your non fast days are not the blow outs they used to be. You think differently about food. You’ll find your shopping is basically fruit and veg, plus protein of course, there seems to be less junk food to unpack. Even take away meals gets less. YOU ARE IN CONTROLπŸ˜€ You learn the difference in hunger and thirst, eating out of boredom, frustration, pain or hurt. Your food begins to taste better, and you don’t need all the extras on your plate. Before you feel the clouds rise under you feet, and your halo being fitted, you will have times it just doesn’t come together, you will graze, nothing will hit the spot, you will over indulge on both food and alcohol, but remember, the fasts you have done, the portion control (PC) you have been aware of, it all balances out in the end πŸ˜„ 5:2 IS very forgiving, it seems to know WE ARE HUMAN so you will never get back to first base ☺️ you just move on, put the “bad” day behind you and look forward to the benefits…..you all have so much ahead to look forward too.
Off to the pool again, could have slept in quite happily but pushing myself and telling myself, I’ll feel better for it. We retire so we can give up clock watching, then put all these pressures on ourselves keeping up with the bloody clock again! I’m going out for lunch tomorrow so tossing up weather to do the pool first, ir give it a miss….still, 24 hours away yet, so many things could happen😊
Okay team, take a deep breath, one fast down for the week, another to come, but plenty of planning time before it. Think about what you felt like, think about how you could have managed better, still time to shop or cook or do some recipe research.
Friday through Sunday are yours to enjoy, this is not a diet, it’s a way of life. Don’t sweat the small stuff, if visitors call in…..with chocolate cake, have a small piece, (PC) you are allowed, but not half of it as you would have in the past?πŸ˜‰ Each day things will become clearer your cooking styles will alter, bit by bit, no pressure, and then your body with start to reshape, the numbers on the scales go down, your feel fitter and have more energy, what an exciting journey you are in for, and of course, our fabulous team is there for you…..all going through the same type of days you are.
“I speak my mind, because it hurts to keep biting my tongue”πŸ˜‰ Happy day team xxxx

Thanks for the great pep talk CG. I am actually spending my time looking though the recipes for the week. I can’t believe how nice they sound. Writing shopping lists and getting a bit excited.

Enjoy your swim CG, enjoy your day or night everyone.

Grrrrr for some reason I start a post, it freezes and I lose everything.
Yesterday was a normal meal day for me but I did well. I also went for a long walk and did a lot of vacuuming.
Today is my first FD. I have had a breakfast from the recipe book – poached egg, spinach, portobello mushroom, and vine tomatoes which is 124 cals. I am working at the information centre today and not sure I can go all day without anything. I am going to take some celery with me just in case.
UP- I am abysmal with maths so will have a handy calculator on my IPAD.
I did work out how to do the weights etc. on MFP. Does anyone know if you can change it from kilojoules to calories. It would be so much easier. I have been converting this morning but it is such a pain.

Hi GG, their is an App in iTunes that is free called Mila Tools. Don’t forget to take lots of water, it’s amazing how it help you NOT feel hungry. Enjoy your day.

     photo Holiday August 2015 147_zpsfbfoycgx.jpg
Hope this works, my first attempt at photobucket. My outfit for my niece’s wedding in the UK, August last year.

Yippee, it worked. Thanks Gypsybell for your easy to understand help. Noots.

Genie. You can download an app called kg to cal. It has a strawberry picture on it. I use it all the time. I also have metric-conversions.org as a link on my iPad. If you do a search and find it you will see an option to download as an app

Congratulations to all our team. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Wonderful result everyone. I slept in and so have no time to read all the posts as have to get to the pool. Back later.

Hi all, I feel I have accomplished much this FD as I was able to use photobucket and post my first (of many I hope) photo. An hour has gone by very fast! It is still raining as hard as ever here in Port Stephens, New South Wales. I had to put on warmer clothes! Going to boil my egg shortly. Enjoy your day everyone.

    Hi all

phew, away for a few days and its like reading Anna Karenina, only refering to number of posts – I have actually ready most of that book, but if you are thinking of reading it,leave it for a month where watching paint dry is the ONLY alternative – honestly, halfway through I was wanting to give her a good shake – three quarters of the way through I found myself ready to throttle her myself, never did get to the end, there would have been no emphathy from me!!!

Fit, I think we will go Irish on the 6th!!! Came back from a very good weekend, though absolutely wrecked – standing on concrete floors for hours at a time is not good for the back, to find we have another house guest – my son’s pal has walked out after his dad took his money out of his bank account to bet! We have two bedrooms and a third room we use as an office, looks like the office may be moved into the kitchen – and another lad is staying tonight – we are snug as bugs in a rug!!

Off to Copenhagen once again on Friday – my life is so hard – not! We did well enough at both the New Year fair and the weekend fair that I have lots of dosh to go shopping – I’ll bet that there will be nothing to buy!

Ate nothing all day at either fairs, so pleased, so managed two semi-fast and a full fasts, so into the swing once again. Thought actually it would be harder to get back into the groove!

Welcome to all the newbies, and I hope 2016 is going to be fun for us all!

    Noots, looking good!

Well what an amazingly upbeat and positively inspiring set of posts! I am sure they will inspire others who are thinking about it to give it a go. I think our new members are a great addition to our group!

Fit, I like the idea of the 6th, in my household though, it is the day we take down all the xmas stuff, being the 12th day of xmas so not that relaxing! Love the idea of the book!

Bert, we aren’t big gum chewers over here but I guess that could work unless it gets your digestive juices flowing, that could be dangerous!

Genie that sounds delicious. For me I would have to have that at lunch because once I start eating I get hungry!

So, I haven’t eaten since the fast dinner last night but not hungry so will probably eat late morning or lunch. CG, I agree with everything you said abut the changes that occur. xx

Aww…. I love coming home from work and seeing warm wishes from you all.
Busy day at work after being closed for two weeks, I felt a little brain dead at times but I’m choking up to having way to many customers on the first day back…… I will not blame it on my FD!
Did super well, coffee in the am…… And my wonderful husband poached an egg for me seeing as I was having trouble getting motivated. It was hard working on a time schedule after being all willy nilly the last couple weeks. I did not realize until this morning that I have a 20 min makeup ritual…… What the heck? Goal this week, cut this time back……
A late lunch today because of too many customers but a cup of soup and sugar free jello.
Two problems have came up….. First being, I was unable to get all my water in through the day, so I must play catch up tonight. Second being, I’ve got to make dinner for my youngest and myself and I’m not hungry!
Of all the years, I have dieted, I’ve have never found myself in a place where I’m not hungry, fustrated, and utterly mad! But as my second FD comes to an end, not only do I want to do this FD again but I’m not fustrated because of being to limited or controlled by the food I can not or should not eat!
I do need to apologize for my ramblings and future ramblings, I can honestly say, I am so excited not only to be doing something so great as this new wol but to have such great friends to share it with.

Milena, that poor lad, I feel for him, it’s sad to think a parent could do that. At least you never get lonely with a full house, and well done on the fasting.
Fit how lovely going through the old photos, it’s never a quick look is it? I can spend hours doing that, but oh the memories they bring back are beautiful. You can usually remember the day and situation when the photo was taken. In someways everything being digital these days spoils the hard copy feel,
Noots how stunning are you….wow, you look beautiful, it’s so nice to put faces to names πŸ˜€ we are getting bits of rain as here too, and now home from the pool in shorts and trackie jacket, will be looking for my jeans, it’s really cooled down, 23 expected but the heat depends on the sun shining, and it’s very overcast.
Genie MFP saves so much guessing, it’s a great app, and I downloaded an app on my ipad kj to cals………damned annoying when shopping and it’s listed in kJ’s
Barb, apart from the recipes and books, your normal meals are easy to manipulate. Just by cutting the size is the best start……( remember, nothing is off limits)……also, on fast days, just don’t have the spuds or pasta……add…heaps of greens, or salads, spaghetti zucchini, each meal you do which is low cal will surprise you, it’s so easy πŸ˜‰We are all conditioned to believe we need to buy things for our new “diet” NO NO NO, you actually buy less πŸ˜ƒ it’s just food you have or keep in the fridge normally, no extra outlay, what could be easier. Eggs are a main stay as are salad goods, lots of veggies and your meat fish or chicken πŸ˜€
When you have your weigh in on Friday and SEE your first loss, after ONLY two fasts, you will be enthralled, you’ll want to tell everyone, shout it to the world……..and be looking forward to the next fast on Monday πŸ˜„ I know us seasoned faster are looking forward to the xmas loss as well 😏
Have a positive day team, ignore the negativity in the world or people around you, this is YOUR life, so live it your way and be happy ☺️ xxxxxxxx

Noots you look smashing! That outfit is gorgeous too – love the hat/spectator/whatever it’s called πŸ™‚
Well done Bert, fellow yank – nice that your husband is poaching eggs for you. Getting him all set for Jan 6th and Women’s Christmas? Go you.
Milena, LOL re Anna K, I felt the same way about Moby Dick, took me months and I was ready for them all to die well before then.
I’m holding fast here, OH isn’t feeling well so no one’s having dinner. We’ll see if a true fast can be done. Happy Tuesday to you Aussies! xxxxx

Bert, you ramble as often as you like. We love reading them plus it is an insight to each of us. As your fasting days become the norm with you, you find you don’t really think about them. 20 mins in the morning are YOURS so enjoy being a women, even if it means getting up 10 mins earlier ☺️ if you have some hardboiled eggs in the fridge, drop one peeled in a mug of hot water to seep whilst you do your make up….wha..lah! Lovely lady and a warm low cal breakki. πŸ˜€easy peezie…..
You know work will settle and life gets back to normal, so take it in your stride, you only have one pair of hands, people and things can just wait! YOU CAN DO IT, stop being hard on yourself ☺️and just a suggestion, a container of carrot straws which you prepared the night before and kept in the fridge, are a sweet and thirst quenching snack 😌…xxxxxxxxxx
