  • YY, sorry forgot to answer, my Tzatziki is from Aldi, ( Deli originals)20grams is 25 cals. It took me a while to get to like it when my daughter used to serve it, but I adore it now, shows you what mind set does 🙂 hope this helps xxxxxx

Mmm, Quite right. CG, and thank u for the insight, (I did need to ramble to distract from the obvious, unthinkable possibilities my half-learned mind concocts on the home front) to be alone, when I have finally found a mortal male who can tolerate my idiosyncrasies is…. well… unthinkable! True! Too many bits and pieces of knowledge makes for a spaghetti brain. Whatever I’ve learned in life only makes me aware of how much I don’t know. And I just hate being stumped for words! Not to mention viable influence….Age is soooo redundant in ‘the real world’.

Bloody frustrating! But it’s more so to have no continuity of what one has struggled to learn. Certainly, my grandkids don’t want to take advantage of the cumulative possibilities (they are only into being peeved I have a motorbike and they aren’t allowed to ride it without a licence!) So I’m grateful for the lot of you on this forum. Lettuce leave no stone unturned in search of health, harmony and happiness!

    So, Lotus, my perennial flower, if I had one word to sum up what you are up against with the ‘frozen shoulder’ syndrome, it would be;

    ‘perservering-patience’

And yes, I hyphenated two elements of the problem, because they go together. Sorry, without cortisone intervention there is no quickish cure ( and even with it you are looking at probable repeat doses) the time frame is anything from one to two years/ or permanent, depending on how proactive you are in your own rehabilitation. But knowledge helps in the decision making, maybe. What caused your condition is relevant. (A) Post(past) injury frozen joint being a reaction to trauma,(and maybe the poor rehabilitation of). Or (B) the metabolic result of disease (like diabetes or thyroid imbalance) being a physiological dysfunction of the joint capsule, due to the buggering up of the fluid viscosity (making it too thick, down to downright glug that hardens). (ie) your shoulder is a joint which has it’s own bubble (capsule) of ‘synovial’ fluid, which the moving parts of the joint glide on. Much like axle grease on a car. Whatever the cause, the glug turns to glue that becomes adhesions of sinews binding ‘bone on bone’, (ie) ‘frozen’ in limited movement. But it’s only relevant because the former (injury related) is something you know about and the latter (some disease process)is a mystery you want labelled. Plus, knowing ‘why’ helps you to understand what the hell is going on! (and to give the ‘specialist’ his due for being honest – He can’t fix it on your time expectation, and surgery is rarely a successful option).

Either way, the outcome is the same. You have what is known as ‘adhesive capsulitis’ (‘itis’ meaning ‘inflammation of’) – it boils to chronic joint inflammation – so those cortisone injections you don’t want are the best quick fix docs can offer and often work very well, given they are direct injections into the joint and have their action there, not systemically as pill ingestion does. Guess one has to trust that a bone specialist has studied for 12 years to get the qualification and knows the itty bitty stuff. (Just a pity they don’t take the time to explain it) So what’s happened is, your joint is ‘frozen’ because the thick synovial fluid causes the adhesions binding bone movement, but only on a soft tissue basis. (think rubber band) It’s not permanent (unless you stop stretching it to ‘defrost’ it’s frozen stasis) – Thus all that ‘useless’ physio is key – you need to keep doing it. Capishe?

To summarise. You need to keep the joint (gently) moving and stretching while you body heals itself. It will ‘melt’ the glue in time (given that all cells replace themselves over time) Getting diabetes or hormonal imbalance in control is key and various other measures can help. Nutrition, excluding highly processed foods (that cause most of our systemic inflammation) but including natural oils, like emu oil ( the be all and end all of natural anti-inflammatories in my book, either internally or as an external rub, Not in shops but I can give you the south Australian farm address for exclusive mail orders).
Flaxseed oil , makes the blood ‘slippery’ nourishes skin and connective tissue and thus improves the glide factor of joints. And , if you can lay your hands on it, dugong oil, which balances the immune system and kept our indigenous locals moving for forty thousand odd years before ‘specialists’ were invented! Or the usual fish oil fix as a grease and oil change basic. Just remember to run your medley of shelf line(or under the shelf) fixes by a qualified chemist for compatibility with prescriptives (like for instance, cod liver oil is not water soluble and interferes with the absorption of several prescriptive meds). In closing, just common sense, don’t re injure, through impatience, or swear at health pros who can’t wave a magic wand. Wear it as a consequence of life and use it to it’s best ability without forcing the issue. Just be sure to WARM UP BEFORE ANY EXERCISE. You don’t want to tear any tendons at this point.

Silver lining: Tell hubby you qualify for a domestic helper. Lifting, sweeping, reaching and similar activities are not ideal at this point. Hope you found an ace that you can keep in all that. nite all xx gyps.

PS. I’ll likely be off line again for a while. (so don’t encourage me to be a know all yap artist!)

    Hi Gypsy

its a good job I read anything and everything – though having nothing to do with frozen shoulder I had a good read, then hubby came through the door within 5 minutes from a trip to the doc – frozen shoulder.

I actually knew he had a problem with his shoulder and I knew he was at the doctor’s. Never occurred to me that Lotus was complaining of the same symptoms as my man. And it was me who made the appointment – I live in my own world!

Anyway, read your post, so now we need the oils! Does your man post internationally? He is going for the injection – thicko question I know but is steriod and cortisone the same thing?

milenapaterson@yahoo.co.uk – which reminds me, who was it that asked for email addresses – I did send my details, but I think I was missed!

I read on a lot of posts about various tests, bloods etc – never had them, but because a cause could be diabetes, hubby is having a myriad of tests done, that can’t be a bad thing, I had also bullied him to mention his prostate (father and grandfather died of prostate cancer) and he is having tests done on that too!

So this thread has a usefulness way outside of 5:2 – Lotus, I’ll let you know how he gets on so that you can compare notes – though I’ll bet he will be moaning a lot more than you ever will!

Have a great day everyone – especially our delicate blooms, CG and Lotus!

Hello all, dying to COME HOME to AU, got another three weeks due to ticket being non changeable :(…

Stuck with MIL who bless her loves cooking but not at all what i would eat…struggling, missing mum lots, missing my dog who I walk on the beach, my belly has an extra wobble and I feel like having never been this over weight in my life 80 ish KGS that its never going to go and I stop trying. It’s not like me really but I am getting rounder by the day. motivation is at an all time low especially staying at someone else house. Going to my brothers next week for the week so that will be better….

A question though…..do you all have scales? I don’t have ANY and I don’t plan on buying any but I guess I need to go somewhere they have electronic ones and go each week to the same place? Don’t ask why virtually nowhere has any nearby??? Find it hard to gauge really when I cant see anything going down. I am immensely competitive and give my all usually…..pep talk me please….

Gypsy thanks for your fantastic input and knowledge, and non of it is wasted here, your grand kids will only appreciate when it’s too late! But we all appreciate it. Milena and Lotus, it was cortisone that got me through over the past 18mths with my back pre op. The relief was enormous BUT it depends on who does it. It should be guided,, not blind, and with me gave instant relief, but years ago had it in my elbow (tenis elbow) and boy, that was pain I hope to never go through again but with in 12 hrs, the relief was fantastic and they say if it hurts, they have hit the spot. Unsure of shoulders though, my SIL has had three, he is a mechanic so shoulder over a car bonnet most of the day, and it has been hit and miss each time with him. As with everything, it’s all personal choice, pain tolerance and how badly you need relief. IT WORKED FOR ME, they usually give around three months relief with cortisone.
Morning team, missyloo, hang in there, it’s awful when you can’t call the shots and need to bite the tongue so as not to offend, but you will be home soon, back with 5:2 and noticing the immediate difference. Scales for most of us are a must, a lot of us weigh daily straight out of the shower, it’s the regular guide we live by 🙂 even if the scales are “out” they are “out” all the time and still give you an idea of gain and loss.
Fast day today, the planning will pay off, dress warmly and keep up with the fluids. When the hungers hit, have a hot drink and wait a few minutes, you will find that hungy feeling passes. I’m having the Birdseye steamed fish tonight, with veggies, lunch LaZappa cup a soup, and breakkie milky coffee 🙂 “best layed plans” ………
Enjoy your day team, enjoy what you do, your attitude controls how your day goes so the choice is yours, if you can’t change a situation, change your attitude towards it and make the best of it 🙂 whatever it is WILL pass so see the positives in all you do and you will feel the inner peace 🙂 xxxxxxxx

Milena, yes cortisone is a steroid. Read up all you can on the benefits for the problems you/your OH has, you too Lotus, it works well as an injection when in the right spot, some people are on cortisone constantly as meds, my Mum had Polymielga (sp?) for four years and was on it daily. xxxx

Hi Milena, I did send the list to you. Not sure why you didn’t get it. I will do so again to you. I had to send it twice because I had left some folk off. Maybe it went to your junk mail?

Well, I think today is the first time that I have gained while fasting! Only 300 grams but disappointing. However, I do know why. It was also the first time that both fasts have been compromised, even though in a smallish way.

First there was the biscuit at the hairdressers and then yesterday I had to do a CPR course and gobbled some biscuits, cheese and dip. Add that to Xmas in July last weekend and there you have it, folks!

I had to bring today’s fast forward a day because today I have Book Club and am going out to dinner with friends who are visiting Brisbane for their daughter’s graduation. I am also back to do a first aid thing in the afternoon, no doubt they will have the same snacks! I can walk past the muffins and sweet biscuits easily but not that other stuff when you know you are going to be sitting listening for 4 hours! My savoury tooth!

    So weigh in.
    SW 76
    Today 65.8
Last week 65.5. Best ever since November 65.3

However, my husband has hit 89.8 this morning down from 100 and is stoked!

Have a good fast day all. Use the determination that I didn’t! 🙂

Hi Upt, you don’t have much to be disappointed about, you are doing so well and with what you have been through it’s spectacular! Could you pls send me the list again too, I deleted it my mistake…thanks mate 🙂
I understand the savoury tooth, love dry bikkies with cheese etc 🙂 often my downfall with my night time coffee 🙁 xxxxxxxx

Gypsy, CG – thanks a ton. Sorry I sounded a bit fed up with it all yesterday, just cold weather whinges!!:)
yes, I am not dissing the specialist, and fully understand there is no “cure” per se. I didn’t want the cortisone for a couple of reasons -1. they said blood sugars will rise temporarily on the injection, as I was fighting that battle at the time (with diabetes), didn’t want any other meds to upset the balance. 2. They said the relief may or may not happen, and even is it does, it will not last- something to do with the position of the capsulitis glue /bubble whatever (which could be the thing for your son-in-law too CG). So I “chose” the pain :). 3. My mum was on cortisone (pills) for her asthma, and went through quite a few negative side effects, so I guess its left a bad impression on me. All in my mind though, so Milena, if your OH needs one listen to the wise people on this thread…
I do physio exercises once a week (Milena – one way for exercising the frozen shoulder is doing stretching in a hot shower – walk the arm up the shower wall etc after a shower), and yes, OH does all the lifting etc at home 🙂 Bonus hehe. Also, I am ok with the pain levels – they are higher to start with and then calm down (or we accept it?). Also, my new best friend is the heat pack. Mobility is still an issue with that arm – but hacks are there to work around it.
Nutrition – I didn’t know about avoiding processed foods… I have reduced but not removed. I do have fish oil capsules, but have to investigate flax seed – bought a packet a few months back but not really used it too much! 🙂 Definitely excellent points in there from you. Will check out the other oils too. Gypsy could you please post the address of the SA farm for Emu Oil? I am (thankfully!) of all prescription meds, so can look at tweaking food and nutrition now. So my next project is going to be improving the the quality of food that I eat…
Not wanting to fast today, its bl**dy cold, but persevering patience is going to be my motto today (good one Gypsy!)

But enough of all that! Today is a shiny (or rainy) new day… WE Will WIN!!

Well, at the moment I think I’ll bash his shoulder in his sleep – though Im not sneaky, I might just wake him up first.

Just has his bloody mother for dinner, short version, she arrived, ate it all, ignored me until I gave her dog some meat, of course then the dog came and offered me her paw for another bit, MIl left the table while I was still eating. Put her coat on and insisted on going home.

Well, saved me deciding whether or not to have any pud.

My boy later remarked it was so unfair that she treats me so badly, do you know I’m so used to it had barely noticed until he made the remark. OH came home and berated me for annoying her by suggesting the dog might like the gravy as there were no leftovers, apparently he thought this remark had set her off!!!!!

Well, obviously there was a discussion – yeah right – I think I used bitch, manipulative, cow, evil and a few non-repeatable words to describe her. I felt better afterwards but the chances of her having a meal made by me anytime soon are slim, unless someone can send me a really good tonic for constipation!

And I might just accidentally knock that shoulder!

OH just says she won’t remember in the morning and she won’t change, and I shouldn’t annoy her.

I’m gonna write that book, Lotus!

UpT – No need to be disappointed. Its great you only gained 300 gms (and I am sure its only water weight) even after all the festive eating!
Missyloo – better to get a weighing scale… I find the weight watchers one (available at Target for about 40 dollars) pretty good. Don’t buy the body fat counter one – apparently the error on that one is up to 8% up or down! I am considering getting a DEXA scan done when reaching 65 kilos (currently a distant pipe dream at 72.5 kilos! 🙂 ) – the DEXA scan apparently gives an accurate picture of body fat, muscle and bone weight, so for those at or close to goal weight, it may be worth getting it done. Your body may already be at its optimal composition, regardless of the number on the scale. If not, time to get back on the saddle 🙂

Milena- hugs. Don’t let her take all that space in your mind. She wins then.
One of the signs of toxic people is that they manipulate people who love them to think they have been wronged (oddly, your OH seems to love her! 🙂 ) . Also, they are excellent at playing victims.
Strategically thinking, don’t knock him on the shoulder yet or you will have to do all the heavy lifting and cleaning at home… Wait till he’s better, then punch where it matters 🙂

Melina, she wouldn’t get another chance at my table, even my home. If OH wants to eat with or see her I’d be sending him there HOW dare anyone bring negative vibes into your home, I don’t care what relationship they have! My ex MIL was a champ at “those looks” so soon got the shot shift, my ex visited her at her home. Buggar them, it’s down and out rudeness, age is no excuse! After we separated he moved back in with her (with my blessings, they deserved each other) the odd time he called in, his whole conversation was about the bitch from hell, I loved it, he didn’t fall far from the tree!! Have a great day try to think positive thoughts, she might get hit by a bus 🙂 xxx
Or shouldn’t I say that xxx

    CG, will do.

Lotus, can you tell me about the Dexa scan. Do you need a referral. Is it expensive/ covered by medicare. I would like to know about my visceral fat!

Lotus, it all boils down to emotional blackmail…..don’t give them the opportunity…if OH hasn’t cut the apron strings or can’t see the jealousy with her comments/or lack of (how bloody rude, I’m boiling and it’s not even my problem)……….let him visit her at her place xxxxxxx

DEXA – costs about AU$85 -$190 in Sydney. Its not covered by Medicare and you don’t need a referral. Here is some information on it 🙂
    http://www.bodyscan.com.au/
    http://www.measureup.com.au/body-composition

I wouldn’t mind getting a report like the one below, would make the weight loss journey easier 🙂
    http://www.measureup.com.au/media/docs/female_body_composition_example.pdf

Yes, CG, I am boiling mad for Milena too (I have a similar MIL at home). Apart from not having cut their apron strings, the fact is toxic people are manipulative, so the regular kind-hearted son / daughter / sibling will fall for the trap every time. fighting is counter productive in this instance, they win because they get attention. Ignoring the tantrum seems to get the best results (better behavior)

Hi Milena, dont know the whole story obviously as new here, but sorry to hear about your MIL, she sounds hard work! As Lotus said some people get off on being horrible to others, and its kinda sad really that they have to resort to that to feel good about themselves.

I wonder if the vibrations of temper is working off a few k’s…..worth a thought, at least we are not thinking about food 🙂 ….maybe it pays us to get mad, as smooth calming day’s lead to a few drinks and nibbles xxxxxx

Ha ha – one way to lose the kilos – walk off the mad!

Uptight and others considering DEXA – I am told its better to do this if you are within the normal BMI range (18.5-24.9 for women, with a waist measuring less than 80 cms), unless you are a performance athlete, in which case BMI is an incorrect measure.

Thanks, Lotus. My BMI is actually 24.2 today. Woo hoo!

I will wait a bit longer though.

Milena, mother in law troubles are difficult. Stay strong. If you stress about it, she wins, and clearly she is the one with issues. Sometimes, you just wish men would step up to the plate and deal with it. It isn’t easy but needs to be done.

Thanks everyone, didn’t mean to rant.

Hi Up, so right, now he’s gone off to bed in a huff after I pointed out he never sticks up for me, just says she won’t change. Lotus, wise words, I don’t often let it get to me, cos revenge is a dish best served cold.

And Im being hard on OH, he’s stressed after just three days as main carer, three weeks to go.

    Loving my boy though!

And I’m modtly good at letting her ways wash over me, but not at my strongest, just settling into third night up with Willow – I think my wee Lazerus had her swansong ladt week, I can’t believe she was 90% well and now seriosly ill again, I’ve cried a river as she deteriorates, decided it has to be the vet tomorrow – so not at my fighting best, unfortunately!

Was planning a 3/4 day fast, which might be well timed, need something to concentrate on not involving food, especially comfort eating.

Hi fellow 5:2ers. I know some of you guys might live in the area or know people. HUGE favour to ask & sorry to post here. We’re trying anything. Lost golden Cocker Spaniel in Ballarat area, maybe heading towards Melbourne. Angel is a rescue baby. Spent her life in a puppy farm. Just found her loving forever home & she got out yesterday. People searching all night & need help getting the message out. Here’s is the Facebook page we’ve created. Please share with everyone you can. Thanks so much. Prayers appreciated, she will be terrified. https://www.facebook.com/bringangelcockerspanielhome

Melina, it’s heartbreaking parting with a much loved pet, my heart aches for you, but she’s been very loved and well cared for, putting her to sleep is the kindest option. Plus in time you can give a new kitten a home, and pour all that extra love you have inside onto it 🙂 my thoughts are with you, golly when the rain comes into our lives it just pours…..but you must have rain to get the silver lining in the clouds 🙂 xxxxxx

CharliesMum, your more than welcome to post with us, I hope she is found,or at least if found by someone who will give her a good home…good luck xxxx CG xxx

Milena you poor thing. I had to have my much loved Golden Retriever put down seven months ago as he had a malignant tumour. I still miss him but now have Pepper. Animal lovers never forget their previous pets. We just have room in our hearts to love another animal. Your MIL sounds like an extremely ill mannered, loathsome individual. It must be very difficult when your OH does not take your side. It would put a lot of strain on a relationship. Just remember Mark Twains quote ” Acid does more damage to the vessel in which it is stored than to the vessel into which it is poured”.
Charliesmum hope you’ve found your missing dog.
Up can you please send me the list too. I’ve never received one.
CG what is the name of the low calorie La Zuppa cuppa soup you buy? I’ve found the soups at our local IGA but none of them seem to be low cal.
FD here too. Meals all planned. I too still have the dreaded constipation issues. Will up my fluids, eat more veg for the fibre and try some pears.
    XX Dawg

I get my soup, in the cup a soup section, at Safeway Doggie, they are in a similar packet to most cup a soups, only a few varieties though so in a smallish area, on the top shelf! , and the are a “blob” rather than powder. Just look for LaZuppa in a white box/packet….does that help, never seen them in my local I.G.A. Xxxxx

Doggie make sure the packet has 2x100g net weight 2 serve pack on it, as these are the cup a soups, they also do them ready to eat so check the weight! 🙂 xxx

Doggie was going to send you a pic but your email address isn’t on the list!

HI Team wow don’t think I can respond to the mountain of posts!
    Milena my MIL was bad, but not that bad. I feel that CG’s stand of Go and have tea at her place is better than what you’re putting up with. Sorry about your Willow, it’s always such a sad decision to have to make. Hugs {{{ }}}
Charliesmum will share your post as have family in Ballarat. Hope for the best.
UT YEAH for your fabulous BMI. I was happy when I got under 30. Yours in marvellous!!
Lotus ooh the frozen shoulder. My BF had one & her physio promised her that she could get her better in I think it was 18 months for her trip of Europe & she did. But she had cortisone injections too, & regular physio & chiro too (they both worked on her care plan together). And she worked hard on exercises. XX
Well that’s about as far back as I can go. Getting quite excited about Vietnam – only 9 more sleeps LOL. MY leg pain is slowly improving, had pilates today it will help stretch it out, but mostly using my roller – which I find *&#$$@ painful but does work on my IT band/glutes (which I think are the problem).
Onto another fat busting/shape changing/slimming/all-round body improving FD. Stick with your routines as you know they work so well for you. Don’t cause yourself angst over little slip-ups, just get on with the rest of the day & you’ll still be a winner! sj XXXX
PS looked for the thai coconut fish yesterday but Coles were out of it. try again.

Hi guys, to those of you fasting today keep up the good work your nearly there! I’m fasting tomorrow and I’m a little anxious as its the first fast day I’ll have had while at work (I’ve recently been on x3 weeks holiday and started this diet then) I get really hungry at work, I suppose it’s because Im on my feet all day running about. Which is fine but I think I’ll struggle a bit. I already have my meal planned out and I’m skipping breakfast for a change so I can give myself more room to eat/drink during the shift if I get desperate. Just wanted to know if anyone else struggles fasting while they’re at work and if you have any tips you can give me? I sometimes get quite cranky when I’m hungry so I’ll have to try and keep my cool too!

Hi Sarah, my fast didn’t go too well as of around 4.00ish when the boredom became too much. I have been hanging all day to get out in the beautiful weather and “play” in my garden but am restricted so much. 🙁 Being busy is they key so at work, you should be fine. Grab a hot drink when you can, the LaZuppa soup, is surprising how filling those few cal are and work out less than white tea or coffee. I’m sure your Aussie Determination will kick in. 🙂 xxxxx Good luck

HI all I have finally posted the recipe for Classic Chilli on our recipe thread. Having it again tonight too with Slendier rice/noodles. Dawg was it you after it? I changed it up a bit so 298 cals a serve now. Great for a FD. You could easily double the recipe so you use a full can of beans, then it would give you 8 serves so plenty to freeze for later. suejen XX
Don’t fret CG you’re doing the best a gal can do in your situation. Remember you keep telling us…even a half fast day is still lower in cals than a normal day! Knowing you, you’d be getting frustrated but hang in there girl, your body’s not ready for fun and games yet. XX

    Thanks Suejen, your right xxx

CG – No fasting for you yet lovely lady. Hang in there 🙂
Team – the liquid fast experiment still going well as clocked in at 150 cals today ( la Zuppa, skim cappuccino, 2 teas). Not sure if it is more effective or not, as it’s too early to tell weight-wise but in a very counter-intuitive way- easier than the light meals pattern I have done before…
All the best Sarah for tomorrow . Fill up on water-you probably get thirsty running around at work (I do!)… Also try a salted drink (Vegemite and water, la Zuppa soup, miso soup etc) mid-arvo – it’s much better at keeping hunger pangs at bay than sweet drinks…
Milena – thinking of you and your poor fur baby. Hugs my dear…
I am going to take a look at that recipe tomorrow – too tempting today 😉

Suejen 🙂 thank you for saving me on Monday.
CG – welcome back 🙂 so glad to hear from you 🙂
I will post my weight tomorrow and reply to all posts during the weekend , I hope everyone has had a great day 🙂 I have struggled today but I’m still under the 500.

Hi gang, I’m late and on the run again, (visitors) just a quick post to pass on the Emu farm’s info. The products are not cheap, but, but they go a loooong way. I take the capsules (have for about 8 years now) and I was able to cut out other anti inflammatory meds after a few months. I also use the bottled oil for my hands and its great for massage, non greasy after a few minutes, it absorbs really well, great skin softener and anti inflammatory. Also stops chafing under breasts (if you have floppys). It has no perfume and is the real deal, 100% emu oil with no additives. (but they do have some products like soaps and really nice moisturisers with natural oil based perfumes, it all good quality. They also have a really good medicated rub that works wonders on sore muscles and sprains, ( I used it for my sports med kit as a school footy nurse – Half the cowboys team are hooked on it from their student days in my care).

So the contact details are : TALYALA EMU FARM, PO BOX 344, KEITH, SA, 5267

PHONE NO. 1800 181 815 (not sure if that works for international, but it is a free call in Oz) I just phone my orders through.

They are also online and through facebook and ebay. So you can view their products. I have one link. talyala@emu-shop.com

but if that doesn’t work you will find them by googling. Just be sure it leads to the actual Talyala farm shop. The farm sells wholesale to distributors so there are lots of people selling it at markets as their own business ( and hiking prices) plus others who have emu products that are not the real concentrate. Hope that helps you Lotus.

And milena, I can help you with a liver detoxifier for the dragon-In-law lovey… no worries… (I’m grinning). I see you are all having a lovely natter and I just have to go, now. But I’ll be back! …..sigh…. visitors blew my fast day out of the water, I’ve been cooking all day! Cheers! gyps

Thanks, SJ. I am pretty pleased about my BMI! Think it was me looking for the chilli recipe.

Good luck, Charlie’s mum. Have been wondering where you were. Are you still doing the 5/2?

Milena, tough times. All the best.

Sarah, I don’t work much but when I do I find it easy because I am too busy to think much about food. I always skip breakfast though. If I eat it I am hungry all day.

I can’t understand about the emails. I will resend to you Doggie but if you don’t get it , please check your junk mail.

Doggie, did you ever send me your address? I can’t find it. Send it to uptightoutasight @gmail.com.

Trying to do a quick catch-up, back in the saddle again now that school has resumed after holidays and also ‘babysat’ my brother today so his wife could have some time to do stuff. Not looking too good at the moment but like this WOL, taking it a day at a time.

Milena so sad for you and your lovely Lazarus cat. Can guess just how you must be feeling (()) hugs. As for your poisonous MIL …. think I’d be suggesting OH does the visiting as CG said.

Don’t remember who was asking about the La Zuppa soups but the picture Lotus posted above is the one I get and it only has 23 cals per sachet. I add some freshly ground pepper and it is quite delicious and surprisingly filling. The other flavours are very spicy, just as tasty but as I said, spicy. One flavour is Tom Yum and the other is Southern Chicken flavour and both as also about 23 cals.

Had to shift my FD to tomorrow (Friday) but still didn’t overdo it today so may weigh in on the weekend. Just off to bed, will look in again tomorrow.

    Hi All

Today is the start of my third week on 5:2. Pleased with the results so far. 2.6 kg loss since I started. A few bad days last week with social gatherings and still lost 1.2kg so was really pleased with that. Must be the FD.
I am Determined to keep on keeping on.

Cheers all and have a great week.

Hi Aussie. Kiwi here. I am in my first week and am pleased with weight loss. Yesterday was a fast day but not hunger this morning and feel clear headed. Go Aussie Aussie Aussie

4Sure! Congrats !! Well done!! And welcome Southland Sue,
Hi Taco, UpT, YY!! UpT your BMI is amazing :). I would suggest going for a scan soon… 🙂
Gypsy – many thanks for the information, will order it from them. Perhaps the topical oil first…
Stay well dear, while looking after your leprechaun.
    Had a giggle at dragon-in-law 🙂

Team – reporting the weighin results – I have lost 600 gms this week so saw 71.8 kilos on the scales this morning ( climbed off and on a few times in disbelief- it stayed the same!!) which is great after like six weeks on 72.9 – 72.5 zigzag.

Good grief. Had my book club lunch complete with dessert, wine etc, rushed off to the first aid course from 3 ’til 7 with snacks provided and at 5pm a bazillion unexpected pizza’s arrived.

At 7pm, I drove straight to a restaurant for dinner with the friends up here for grad. I was very good there, mainly because I was so full already!

Still full this morning. I am going to work on no breakfast and am have pre ordered a salad for lunch!

I wonder if that BMI is still so good this morning!!!

Well done, Lotus and This. Welcome to you. Southland Sue.

Welcome 4sure. And slsue, you have joined a great team for support and encouragement. Keep up the good work and stick with it. Even if you have “off” days, soldier on, 5:2 will reward you. Lotus great result my friend, your fluid fast has paid off. Even if just to move a plateau, it’s worked.
Nothing my end, weight gain with these meds as pre warned, yet conscious of food choices, got a bit down last night with pain and longevity of this rehab so hit a few carbs but, hay…5:2 will look after me when my saga comes close to an end….Positive thinking 🙂 !
Have a great day team, my daughter is coming down tonight, no kids 🙂 so looking forward to just mother and daughter week end, we are very close but life keeps us apart so quite excited. 🙂 Watch your choices but loosen the reins team, you deserve it for the next few days 🙂 xxxxxxx

    Thanks CG 🙂
So excited for you to have some quality time with your daughter… So precious…Enjoy! We won’t mind (much!) if you don’t to get to post over the weekend, if you don’t have time 🙂

Thanks Lotus, I have been “ordered” not to even mentally plan a menu as she is taking care of everything, I am to sit back and be spoilt, and my daughter knows how, usually starting with something in a glass 🙂 🙂 🙂 xxxxxx

    ooooh noice 🙂

Hello AD team. Welcome SouthlandSue. Don’t be surprised if you get called SS. And that is NOT referring to any vile Nazi German thing.
Thanks CG & Lotus for the soup info plus photo. I’ll see if our IGA has it or send and SOS to a friend who lives in Launceston where there is a much larger variety of foodstuffs. I do love this pristine area of
Tassie but it has its drawbacks. ie lack of services and good shopping. The scenery and people are lovely though and the crime rate very low. Hoons and Yobs of course but thankfully NIMBY.
FYI my email is gratjios@icloud.com No I’m not Greek. Hubby adopted by Greek couple after his father was killed in the Second World War. It’s a bugger of a name as my maiden name was Hunter. I Never had to spell that to anyone or tell them how to pronounce it!
Weigh day here and it’s the same old same old. Still at 67 kilos. I’ve just been reading some interesting discussions on the dreaded plateau. I know I’m lax with my TDEE but have decided to stay in cruise control until the weather warms up. We also have a belated Xmas in July( August) looming with friends staying for a few days so I know I’m not going to miss out on the excess food and booze.
Oh and my B knee is playing up again So I’m limping about like Long John Silver. Oh the joys of ageing.
