Day 19 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD

Yesterday got a bit upended, as DH’s second of three classes is now cancelled–long story–putting him at home for supper. So I made Clam Chowder Pizza from the NYT cooking site, a recipe I’d been trying to find time to make for two weeks. I loved it; he didn’t. Oh well. But it also means my restrained eating/drinking was not. ๐Ÿซค๐Ÿค So today’s WF may not accomplish quite such a lovely number as I’d hoped.

@michelinme Gee, you’re overwhelmed by all that’s in your box??? LOL, I would be too, but you’ve proven yourself equal to the task!

@penz Well, my MIL died two weeks ago, so that’s dramatic, but she was 94 and never liked me, so my heart is just fine, and I think your three things are precisely what would depress me as well! Is the prognosis good on your friend starting chemo? Is your friend who’s in a bad place mentally only temporarily there, or is stuff so bad in her life that it’ll be a long road to joy? And is there another option for a dog sitter, although not the one you prefer and like? ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

@funshipfreddie Well, I bet that, with today’s FD, you WILL see 70.2 tomorrow…do be sure and celebrate when you do! The calories of those peanuts will take awhile to convert to actual weight, and the weight of the peanuts themselves is not heavy enough to show up on the scale immediately. Thus, you have time to show a bit of restraint to avoid any permanent damage. And I fully understand not having much chatter inside, even though my posts don’t normally reflect that, LOL!!!

@brightonbelle You’re doing such a lovely job replying to each of us!

@excelsior12309 We too are slated to get rain in a few days–two to three inches!–so you and I can celebrate together the much-needed moisture. That’s too bad about your corgi; I hope the dog aspirin helps dramatically.

@northgeorgia Enjoy your day with your mom!

Joining the fasters for today. Our weather here is rather rainy and dreary, but the rain is much needed.
Our vet is coming to the house today to give rabies vaccines to the two cats. We will see how that goes. The old corgi is very stiff and seems uncomfortable moving around; I hope the vet will give advice about using dog aspirin for arthritis.
Sorry to see people in a down mood. @northgeorgia, your dad’s death sounds so traumatic, I am sorry you and your mother witnessed the end in such a fashion. @stichincarol, my older sister was living in the same town as my mother when my mother died suddenly of an aortic aneurysm. My sister was at the hospital with her. My sister was also her executor. IT was very hard on her emotionally; I wish I had realized more at the time how much it got to her. @penz, it sounds like you have good reason to feel a bit down, with the experiences of your friends.
Wishing good vibes to all today.

Good morning everyone,I woke up with Chloe on my legs, couldn’t move, she lies across me at a right angle and pins me down. She’s a big lump to move. Sunny today I brought the weather home with me. Dentist check up later then bowling this afternoon. It’s a big game if we can win I think we will be promoted. Then we have a cup semi final on Monday.

Dave.. I bet Chloe was pleased to see you back.. extra spoiling now I bet.

H H ..Yes these roadworks are horrendous everywhere .. its so hard to judge now how much time travel to allow to get to an appointment .

    Your pastries sounded delicious.

Sym.. Lovely to be among the younger people .. You will soon get any extra weight off when you get back.

I’m not in a good mood today! Not sure why… A friend of mine started chemo today. Another friend, whom I had lunch with, is mentally not in a good space. And my usual dog sitter is unavailable and we’re away next weekend! Compared to some of you on this forum, these are trivial travails, but I’m feeling pretty blah!

@davinac – you’ve done so well! Hope your clothes look fabulous on you and you enjoy a wonderful wedding.

@flourbaby – you’ll get there. Does your new place feel like “home” yet?

Take care, @northgeorgia, I can really feel your pain through your post. Such an awful way to lose your father and I’m not surprised you and your family are trying not to go down the ‘what if’ path.

    Day 19 UK FD800
    Day 18 CD

Weird to be the first post of the day, but here goes!

I didn’t post yesterday as it was non-stop, but I fasted all day, drinking lots of liquids, then had healthy evening meal albeit late as I was out until mid-evening. Pepper, tomato & lentil soup, courgette & cheese omelette with 1/2 baked sweet potato, peach/pear/apple compote with vanilla vegan yogurt. Today I’m aiming for FD but will fallback to FD800 if needed.

My fridge and kitchen are stacked with fruit and veg again after the fortnightly box. It’s a little overwhelming tbh but I think I’ll get through, and I prefer the larger portions of a fortnightly medium box. Kale, corn on the cob, spinach, sweet potato, tomatoes, courgettes, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, baby cucumbers, nectarines, peaches, apples, pears, blueberries – and more! It feels colourful and fresh and helps keep my mind engaged and motivation high. Also gets me cooking from scratch and thinking about food in a different way, making eating healthily more of a priority. All of which will hopefully keep me firmly on the waggon while I rebuild these habits.

I’m still getting evening snack urges but these are definitely habits rather than hunger! when there’s only healthy stuff in the house it becomes less tempting – or I’m adding another apple, kale crisps etc which don’t derail my longer goals.

Loved reading posts yesterday, and looking forward to hear how your FDs went. Here’s strength to today’s pocketeers.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Hello again,

I meant to write one more post yesterday, but ran out of concentration.

Lovely to see your post this morning Neil. It was a relief when home help turned up!

Haha yes, I hope you get some easy years before grandchildren start. But omg it is fun when they do. So much delight and so much less responsibility. ๐Ÿ˜€

Quacka, I missed responding to your post and wanted to as I have so much sympathy that 5:2 has brought reflux along with it. Sooo frustrating.

My understanding is that a healthy lower esophageal sphincter only opens to let food down or vomit up. It isn’t perfect, so in most people a little stomach acid and salts and pepsin etc come up at times, but the clever body heals it without us even noticing.

For someone with a leaky LES the stomach acids etc come up more often and can inflame the esophagus. They are most likely to come up when the stomach is working to digest food, because that is when the stomach is producing acid. Generally, an empty stomach isn’t making much acid.

However, I found (and I know from the forums I have been on that I am not alone) that if I get too hungry, I start getting reflux. The small amount of acid is building up and maybe increasing in anticipation of a meal. And my leaky LES is letting it through. I think that might fit more with your research.

If my esophagus has become inflamed (and at the moment it is the most inflamed it has been since I was diagnosed early last year) I have to do a tricky balance between trying to eat as little as possible (because any eating irritates it further) and eating often enough to use up the acid it is making (and to stop me starving!).

On the information I have, we need to be eating small meals as far apart as we can. Soft foods, eaten slowly, chewing well so they are not abrasive on our poor inflamed esophagus.

I also try never to stretch my stomach with big meals. They reckon the stomach is like a beach ball that isn’t blown up and you can fit in an amount of food about the size of your fisted hand before it starts having to stretch.

(Every time I eat even just a bit too big meals my esophagus gets inflamed again. I am learning!) (And I have to sleep with the head of my bed raised.)

Such a balance: small meals as far apart as possible, but not so far apart that you get too much acid gathering in your stomach. I can manage three hours between mine, so I have four small meals a day.
But I think some people can’t even do three hours.

Our esophagus heals best when nothing is going down or up, but we have to eat and our stomachs do make acid, sigh. So we can only keep managing it as best we can.

Oops couldn’t work out how to say all this more concisely. I quite understand your situation may be very different to mine, so no problem if you stopped reading.

But sending all good wishes that you can heal quickly.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Morning all

I had a reasonable eating day yesterday, I ate around 2100 calories. But I woke up this morning feeling really full, so I skipped breakfast. I’m still not feeling hungry an hour or so into work. I might avoid eating until I actually feel hungry today.

Quacka, sorry to hear your reflux is playing up. I find these days that when I have an extended fast, that I get really bad acid stomach that I never really used to get. I used to snack on celery and cucumber sticks when I was doing the fast 800, it’s good for staving off the hunger pangs. Congrats on the loss, 4kg in 2 weeks is an awesome amount.

Cinque, hooray that the home help showed up. I’m (hopefully) still a few years away from having grandies, I’m in the sweet spot where my kids have got over their hyper stage, and I tire them out rather than the other way around when we go out for walks.

Well, I hope everyone else is good, and I’ll catch up with you later

HH Chloe went mad when I came through the door, she brushed past everything and jumped up on me. She’s been on my knee 3 times tonight. Just put jeans on feeling the cold after wareing shorts all week. It was lovely and sunny when we got off the plane but going colder now.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Jean- they do sound particularly busy, hope you & Kate have a nice day together today, & you get your watch sorted ๐Ÿคž
Dave- I bet Chloe was over the moon to see you home ๐Ÿฅฐ
Hemmy- have you had a good day? Fed up with roadworks here too, they have been doing them most of the time since Feb to get out of our road, building lots of houses on a field just outside the village. It floods badly too so wouldn’t want to move there!
Nana- did you have lunch out today?
We picked a table up for son & gf this morning, it’s a good solid (heavy!) one…did our shopping afterwards. Made a puff pastry salmon thing for hubby & Mum, & a goats cheese keto tart for me, the most cooking I’ve done for a bit ๐Ÿ˜‚
Hubby is going out to meet a friend tomorrow, so I’m going to have a browse round Hobbycraft on my own ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    Day 18 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD, but controlled – 159.6

I’m gobsmacked by that lovely number. The eating plan for today is to have a salad for lunch and a sandwich for supper, but I’m allowing myself the option of having a sandwich to go with that salad, and then a second sandwich at supper. Yes, a lot of bread, but it’s excellent bread with whole grains, seeds and fiber, so oh well.

Around 8pm last night I realized I had a headache–and that I almost always have a headache on WFDs. So I went into the kitchen and pulled out the leftover salmon and had several bites of it. By the time I had put it back in the fridge and come back to the living room, my headache was gone. Perhaps I ought to plan on some protein on WFDs? I was startled by how fast it was effective. That’ll be something to really ponder over the next several weeks.

@michelinme The reason I’m finding the details related to a death so astounding is that I knew basically none of it for when my own mom died in 2015; my sister who lived near her in California clearly took care of many, many details without ever mentioning them. โค๏ธ BTW, I am so in awe of how successful you are at dealing with all those fruits and veggies!

@penz Wow, look at you go!

@funshipfreddie Hmmm, another nearly silent day for you. It’s laundry day and mosaic class, if I remember correctly; have fun!

@davinac Congratulations on meeting you goal weight for the wedding! And, don’t forget to put your header on your posts, showing the day and where you are, plus what kind of day it is. Check out the way the rest of us do it, or read the very first instruction on the first page.

@flourbaby Is any room in your new house completely settled? That’s a good way to find some peace–or, at least, that has worked for me when we’ve moved. I have my own move to contemplate next June, and I’m already overwhelmed, LOL!

@brightonbelle The carrot of a trip to Palermo ought to be effective in keeping you to your daily goals; I’m sure it will be a lovely, lovely trip!

@northgeorgia What sad and awful memories you have of your dad’s last hour. They are understandably difficult to bear.

Today is my own. I have to walk over to church for 15 minutes this afternoon to play the keyboard for the opening of the classes DH teaches, but I’m otherwise free to arrange and fill my time as I choose. Glorious!

Weigh-in: 232 lbs. @flourbaby and @michelinme Thanks for your words of support; it is still really hard, especially since he was taken so suddenly when a simple procedure went wrong in the hospital — mentally I have blocked the violent painfulness of his passing since my mom and I were both in the room with medical staff rushing around when he died. Up until that point, most of our extended and close family members that passed either did so more gradually through hospice or hospital care, or happened in an instant (overdose or heart attack). It’s difficult when your last memory is your loved one screaming in torment, convulsing, and hearing the blood pressure constantly drop among shouts of “no pulse,” while the medical staff slowly give up. I wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone. We were asked at least once if we wanted to leave the room, but my mom shook her head no. Later she said with so many staffers in the room it would have been hard to get to the door anyway. We’ve replayed those final two days repeatedly in our minds wondering, “what if,” but we realized if any action taken were different, we would have questioned ourselves even more.

    Day 18, OMAD, Aus

Also just checking in. Yesterday’s OMAD went well – probably ~800 cal, so I’ll plan the same today.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Back again with a cup of tea.
Still no homehelp. I’ll do another post and then ring the council to find out what has happened.

Suzy Q, it is so good reading your posts and seeing you triumph against difficult fast days, and finding things out about how your body reacts to hunger and fullness and sugar after fast days!
(I have had to cut out sugar/sugary things altogether because of my twin horrible reactions: one is it triggers binge eating and the other is I feel absolutely poisoned).

Hooray for new habits. It is such a nice sideline of 5:2 that it leads to reassessing so many of our habits and giving us the space to tweak or change them.

Hello Thin, what an excellent summary of managing difficult fast days.
You are such a brilliant ambassador for fasting that sometimes I presume you have nailed non fast days too. So it was a good reminder you gave of what an ongoing tricky business that is. Sending good wishes for these NFDs.

Neil, Yikes, a 5 birthday celebration when you are still working on movie nights.
And a blast of cold weather on top of it!
Life does like to throw us challenges!

A big woot! and lots of congratulations for that lovely loss, and that lovely trajectory of losing that weight you do not need.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Hello everyone,

I had my gorgeous granddaughter stay overnight on Friday which was lovely but hard work (ADHD and her concentration span was about 90 seconds), so I am still recovering. I have been reading posts though, and I will do a bit of answering while I am waiting for homehelp (so late I am worried they cancelled today and haven’t let me know)

    Most important things first:
OMG Gday! Cafes closed on the weekend! What are they thinking?
And how sad if visiting one isn’t a lovely experience.

Also important, how everyone is going with the old 5:2

Cali I do so hope your weight stops bouncing around confusedly. Maybe a bit less salt and some psyllium husks will do the trick. It would be so nice if you had a long run of easy fast days, but such good reminders that that hunger comes and goes and that we can eat tomorrow.

Best wishes too with all your strategies for better sleep. Isn’t sleep precious. Even more precious than a full caffeine coffee.

Ha, I can imagine a rattlesnake thinking a croc would be a good shoe to curl up in.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good Morning Everyone

That’s great Neil! FD’s are such a good way to undo the damage done from a big weekend.

This is my third week of FD’s (two per week) and I am super happy with the results so far. After my first FD for the week on Monday, yesterday morning I weighed in at 78.5 kg (a loss of 4kg in just over two weeks). I haven’t been in this weight range since 2020. I am fasting today and can’t wait to see what my weight will be tomorrow!

The only downside is my reflux is giving me a bit of hell at the moment so I am going to trial a few things to try and fix that. Firstly I am going to give up coffee. it’s no big deal for me as I prefer tea anyway (hi LJ). I only have one coffee per day and only when I am working. At home I drink tea. Since I’ve started fasting I have been having long black’s so I don’t waste calories in my coffee. Before fasting I was having almond milk. A medium almond milk coffee is about 75 calories, not worth it for me on FD’s. I researched a little bit last night and there were suggestions to eat something so that the stomach is not empty. I thought celery would be good because it is crunchy and I like it. I also read that leafy greens are good. Apparently when there is food in the stomach the oesophageal sphincter closes which helps keep the acid in. So obviously when there isn’t food, that sphincter is open and allows the acid and pepsin gases to rise in the oesophagus. I don’t have that much acid coming up just the lump in my throat and constantly wanting to swallow which I read is due to the gases. Who knows? So today I am armed with some celery, some baby spinach and I will have my instant miso soup for lunch.

As Suzy said in her post earlier this week, we have to make FDs work for us. There is no reason that I have to go all day without eating as long as I stay in my calorie range. I just prefer to go as long as possible so that I have more calories available for dinner as I still try and eat a fairly normal dinner.

Well I’m on a FD today so I will be checking in here again often. Hope those of us fasting have a nice easy one and hope everyone else has a lovely day too xx

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Looks like it’s just me here at the moment, well I’ll talk at you for a while.

My back-to-back fasts were enough to counter my weekend carb-a-thon. I saw my 8th consecutive week of losses, down 300g. It may be just a small loss. But after my weekend, I’m happy to see any loss on the scale. Total now is 4.6 kilograms down in 8 weeks. If I keep this average of around 600g a week, then I should see another 8-9 kilos gone by the end of the year.

    Have a good one everyone

    Evening!
Dave- hope you’ve had a good last day, safe journey home tomorrow…Chloe will be so pleased to see you ๐Ÿค—
Hemmy- nice to have had your lunch out! Awful all the Christmas stuff out already, 100 days to go I think, or 99 now…
Not all the garden is put to bed yet, two veg beds still have a few beans & courgettes coming. Covered in bites today ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Rang my HomeStart family today, took son’s washing round, got jobs done this afternoon… tomorrow we’re picking up a table eldest son has seen for sale near us before shopping.

    Day 17 UK FD800

Yesterday morphed into a FD800 so I thought I’d throw in another one, to make up for it. Today has turned into OMAD but I’m making it a 3-course one: panfried halloumi with mushrooms & spinach, butternut squash/pea/sweetpotato dahl, fresh peach and blueberries.

Today has been LOOONG – two zoom meetings and a pile of pre-conference work that needed completing ahead of tomorrow’s planning meeting. Plus picking up some more emails – do they never end?! I’ve also just realised that I’m full on tomorrow from 12pm and straight out from a meeting at 4pm so need to get set tonight. I’m v tired but Future Me will be glad I did.

It’s fruit & veg box again first thing tomorrow; I’m delighted to have eaten everything up from the first one xc some baby pears, courgettes and carrots. The carrots will combine with ginger to make a nice soup later this week, and the courgettes can go into the next thing I cook that works with greens – or be peeled and dressed into a salad; pears are going to become a compote with some leftover plums – yummy pudding for the end of the week too.

This week I topped up with an extra cauliflower, spinach, blueberries, plums and peaches with a little leftover. Now looking forward to seeing what the next box will bring. I find it so much easier to cook from a box, enjoying the adventure of how to use what comes, than going into a supermarket and deciding what I’m going to eat!

Today I noticed that I’ve been impatient to lose weight – but realised I’ve only been back here for 15 days! I’ll try to get better at seeing this as a WOL (albeit at the weight loss stage) and holding onto monthly milestones. I’ve come so far already cf 1 September, especially finding it so easy to resist foods that don’t match my goals.

@flourbaby LC pre-FD is such a good idea! i’m trying to do better this week ๐Ÿ™‚

@stitchincarol I’m so glad everything went well with the visiting and your MIL’s service. There is SO MUCH to be done after someone dies – over here we often call it deathmin. I’m still sorting out my mother’s bank account and utilities, we’re only just applying for probate now. I hope you and DH can have a few ‘normal’ days now.

@northgeorgia thinking of you as you come to you Dad’s birthday. I found my mother’s birthday surprisingly tough in July after her death this year.

Holding all the Pocketeers close today – you are what keeps me on this waggon!

Day 17 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD

Yesterday got turned upside down as we had to drive yet again to where my MIL lived and meet two sisters to write thank you notes. I continue to be astonished at how much is involved in a death. Then supper included a fair amount of crusty bread to go with shrimp and a big pile of steamed broccoli, so was partly fine, but that bread is going to make today tougher than it needed to be. Oh well.

Wow, even with a fair number of us checking in, there’s sure not much chatter. So, @northgeorgia, I hope you’re able to easily resolve the tense things at work, @jaifaim, good to hear from you, and have a grand time with your friends in NYC, @excelsior12309, deep breaths: you’ll again find your RESOLVE to make progress down, @michelinme So glad your laptop could be quickly fixed, @flourbaby Oh, golly, I too hope Bo Bo finally finds your back yard tolerable and even interesting!, @davinac I too love FDs!

Okay, off to start my day. Have a grand one, everyone!

Checking in for accountability. I am still here. I am also not very compliant with nicely controlled eating: some candy at work called my name yesterday. Avoidance is the best thing for me, I cannot eat just one tiny “fun size” chocolate.
    Will write more soon.

    Day 17, London, UK, NFD,

Forgot to press submit yesterday, anyway it was a low carb friendly NFD, I’m planning to complete a 500 cal FD tomorrow, gently working my way up to it with a couple of LC NFDs should make it a doddle!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Lovely to hear from you @jaifaim, I bet you & your friends picked up right where you left off, distance doesn’t have to diminish friendships! ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป

I’m still working on settling Bo-Bo into his new home, he’s a bit of a scaredy cat and didn’t want to set foot in the garden yesterday, I think he hates the leash! I’ll try again tonight as repeatedly changing the litter box is annoying me!๐Ÿ˜ก

Happy fasting folks, I’ll join the pocketeers tomorrow!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Morning all.

Yesterday was a lot better than the weekend. I managed to keep myself to a flat white during the day, then a bowl of pumpkin soup, a handful of walnuts, and a handful of roasted chickpeas for dinner. Total of around 780 calories. So far so good today, I’ve just had a flat white and a couple of snacka balls for a total of 200 calories, I’m going to have a small avocado for a late lunch for another 200 calories. If I can keep my dinner to under 400 calories then hopefully that will be enough to counter the excess sugar and carbs I ate in the weekend. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow morning.

It’s still cold. It was so cold this morning that I got an icecream headache riding my bike down the hill on the way to work, and it’s currently snowing down at sea level. I’m hoping it clears away by the end of the day when I’m due to ride home.

Well yesterdayโ€™s FD morphed into a CD instead. So today Iโ€™ll do OMAD to help make up for it.

Donโ€™t you just love Past Mes, @michelinme!

So nice to have all the family around @stitchincarol. But sad that itโ€™s a funeral to bring everyone together.

Lovely to hear from you @jaifaim and great youโ€™re having such a wonderful time.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Dave- glad you’re having a good time, how do you manage going to bed earlier & getting up early too?! Have you & Denise hired a scooter or is she managing the walking? I wonder how they all find the right scooter if there’s so many ๐Ÿ˜‚
Jean- enjoy the heat, it’ll probably be really chilly by the time you come home! Nice you can have a peaceful walk with Maxi! Sounds like Cole is doing really well, does he know what he wants to do when he graduates?
Hemmy- hope you’ve had a lazier day after your busy weekend! Nice to change things about with your cushions…I have done a mini makeover with the kitchen, very pleased!
Nana- hope you had a good weekend, not long til your holiday now, can you keep on track this week?
Had a quiet day yesterday, busier today- dug over the veg beds & dug manure in, had a catch up on the phone with a couple of friends which was lovely…youngest son rang too, he’s been to Essex for his fitness & aptitude tests today, passed that okay, hopefully interviews in a couple of weeks ๐Ÿคž

    Day 16 UK FD

Today is feeling positive and slightly energised despite the full-on weekend. Maybe bc the sun is shining and it feels warm out? lovely change after a week of heavy rain and dark skies.

I had an early start straight into webinar for a course I’m doing but thanks to Past Me everything was lined up and ready to rock ๐Ÿ™‚ Today’s installment was a masterclass in spoken comms skills for senior leadership. It was supposed to be a seminar but only half the contingent could make it, which made it more fun tho hard to hide!

My laptop emitted a loud buzz throughout – thankfully only audible to me – but it’s now fixed! I’m so happy with the local computer repair place who fitted a new fan and thermal paste within 15 mins. And it turned out to be run by someone I knew as he used to drive me in his minicab! I’ll now be trekking down with my old laptops for repair, most of which can hopefully then be used by local charities.

I celebrated laptop repair with a quick shop for lunch: cottage cheese + crudites – red pepper, carrot, cucumber. I do like my picky bits of mix and match textures/flavours, and having an active lunch – choosing, dunking – makes me eat more slowly and feel satisfied. My FD are usually OMAD supper but I’m trying to shift my eating to earlier in the day, and have a board meeting 6-7.30. I’ve got another zoom at 3pm then hopefully time to start a small batch dahl – butternut squash and sweet potato, with spinach, peas and split red lentils – and catch up with emails while it cooks.

I remember from last time round finding it so helpful to name my food here – it encourages me to plan ahead and gives me a sense of accountability. And meanwhile enjoying watching the sparrows eat at the feeder just outside my study window.

    Sending strength to today’s fasters!

    Day 16 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 162.8

All I did for the last 4ยฝ days was cook, eat, drink, clean, and repeat. I was sure every day that I’d be up five pounds. I’m purely gobsmacked that the efforts I was making to behave on some level were apparently successful, putting me up only two pounds over last Wednesday’s post-WFD weight. Plus, having three littles in the house meant I was–we all were–on the move rather constantly. I maintained my usual ZBC choice, ate lunch and a lovely dinner every day, but did very little snacking, so I’m sure that detail was helpful. Oh, and DD, DS27 and I made macarons on Friday; she’s become quite skilled at them, and DS27 and I were learning from her; they were a lovely, lovely treat, but I didn’t go nuts nibbling on them. So we’ll see what my two WFs this week do to the weight.

The visitation on Wednesday evening and the service on Thursday morning were lovely, with all sorts of friends and relatives present, and I got to hold baby Mae throughout the Thursday church service–my favorite memory, LOL. We had every member of the family there, from MIL’s four kids, the four spouses, their kids and their grandkids, and that added up to exactly 50 people. So before everyone headed home after the luncheon, we got a family photo; what a treasure!

We got home around 3pm on Thursday, and then the real fun began with all 9 of us: DS32, DD31, DS27, DSIL32, DGD4.95, DGD2.5, and baby Mae. My heart is filled to have had everyone here all day Thursday and Friday, and then again for church on Sunday (the boys went home to their own beds on Friday night because they had work on Saturday). And then they were all gone by 12:45 on Sunday, and I was only a tiny bit heartbroken, because I was ready for our usual quiet, LOL! Sadly, it was interrupted by a two hour meeting DH and I both had to attend, but we’re good friends with all of the people who also were at the meeting, so it was a pleasant time, and then we got to come home and be ALONE. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘โญ

Today’s goal is to return the house to the perfectly tidy condition it was in before everyone showed up.

I’ve read all the posts, and was glad to read of the progress so many of you are making; I’ll be back to my usual responsive chatter tomorrow.

    Have a grand one, everyone!
