  • Day 11 Wisconsin USA FD500
Day 10 was a planned eating day because of our anniversary dinner, and was totally worth every calorie. Cheese plate with fruit, jam, nuts; Braised short ribs with pureed sweet potatoes and roasted vegetables of all kinds; Topped off with a variety of dark chocolate from a local chocolatier.

Outdoor yoga was peaceful and much needed. The talented instructor crafted the class to appeal to all levels and I found parts of it quite challenging, which always leads to a great feeling of accomplishment at the end of class.

Today will be my first fast day in a very long time. It seems like a good day to schedule this after the excesses of yesterday. I’ll fast until dinner, when I’ll have a portion of leftover stuffed peppers that should come to about 500 calories.

@emma-taylor, you are so right and I’m going to use that technique next time I want to be gracious but don’t want to be made to eat.
@northgeorgia, you’re so close – surely you’re getting into that 230 club very soon.
@diana123, yikes, not the way you want to lose weight. Hope you’re feeling better.
@songbirdme, yes it was just one cookie and I was kind of trying to be a little humorous in my description of the dire event, lol. Thanks for the suggestion about half – I like that solution. Fun to know we were having some of the same experiences back in the late 60’s.
@snowflake56 I hear you. Always trying to avoid hurting those sweeter friends’ feelings.
Good luck on your CD @kazoo.
@i-hate-lettuce I love picturing you wandering the lake district. I often walk along the menomonee river near our house where there is beautiful fall color right now.
    Good luck today @toady
@flourbaby be kind to yourself during this stressful time.

    Plan for Day 11:
    FD500
    Continue walking and daily yoga

    Day 11 – USA/GA – NFD

Sustained 241 lbs. for another day! Got to clean up after the rain bands from Hurricane Delta moved through last night. Not too bad: a few limbs from the trees and lots of leaves plastered to the car.

@markie99 Yes, sooo close to leaving the 240s Club…

    ***

As we nervously await the arrival of our ride, the pair of sinister eyes stay fixated on the three of us, coming closer and closer. “What do you want from us?” Wesley panicked. “Get out of here or you’ll regret it!” A couple of passersby look curiously on. As the eyes make their way across the road, the street lamps shine upon a black silken furry body. “Meow,” it responds, still approaching us. “Meow?” Lola and I burst out in laughter as do the two people standing nearby. Wesley turns five shades of red and lets out a sullen “hmmph.” The cat rubs against our legs briefly. “Meow.” The nearby couple continues to laugh as they walk away from us, down the sidewalk. The cat pauses and stares at Wesley, who just clicks his teeth and then continues to the club door. Lola and I turn to watch the cat. “Well, how about that?” Lola says. “Must be the local stray. The club owners have a little dish of water and food at the doorway.” Wesley ignores us. “Five more minutes, and the Uber should be here.” Lola and I grin at each other. “Great, Wesley.”

I’m definitely going to start riding away from the 240s this week. I can feel it 🙂

    Happy Sunday, everyone.

    Day 11 MN/USA NFD
    Day 10 NFD

Beautiful weekend here. Taking advantage of the height of fall colors and the wonderful afternoon temperatures….maybe just a light jacket today at family cookout.

@flourbaby How trying your last week has been! I really hope things go well for you from here on out, that the lease is for a comfortable place and can be reimbursed partly. And that your own roof repairs are expedited quickly and well. You are right to get out of the hotel….doesn’t sound like the healthiest situation for mind or body.

@markie99 Congratulations on your anniversary! Your dinner sounds wonderful.

@emma-taylor Envious of you, but also happy for you to be experiencing such a lovely time. I vote for staying there, for now.

@toady Good luck for a better day tomorrow…..I’m aiming to get back on track this week, myself.

@i-hate-lettuce DH and I also loaded up at the farmers market. Sadly, that will be the last one for the year, but our favorite farmer/vendor has invited us to come to the farm for the next month or so where they will sell privately to customers. We’re hoping to be able to take advantage of that. We love farmer’s markets and local produce.

@kazoo Very glad for you that you had a lovely break with DH.

@snowflake56 I will be thinking of you over the next several days. Fingers crossed for everything to go well and be completed.

@diana123 I hope you’re feeling better….it’s not the best way to have a FD, but at least a bright spot in the middle of feeling ill.

@northgeorgia I can feel it too! You will break into the 230’s this week!

@stitchincarol I hope your weekend with family was great, and no regrets! Safe travels!

Happy Sunday, and see you on all of the lists tomorrow!

Day 11 – at 8500 feet in Colorado

It’s been a busy few days. Yesterday we did a 45-minute walk outside and today I managed a Leslie walk, so I’m even sort of sticking to my routine…”sort of” being a truly qualified phrase, LOL!

We drive home tomorrow, so Tuesday morning, I’ll be able to get back to my normal host-posting self. Have a grand rest of your day, everyone!

    Day 12, FD, Aus

    Having a Monday. Bleck.

I join in the votes to stay put, @EmmaTaylor!

Commiserations with your roof calamity, @flourbaby. Hope your temporary digs are nice and work out for you.

    Day 12 – Japan – WFD #81

Friday’s fast was easy. Too much eating over the weekend and today I’m feeling it. This fast seems harder than normal. Oh, well …

    day 12 update

Feeling much better after a longer workout, but not that hard. I did run 3.5 km pretty hard, but the rest was light stairs and brisk walking. I’m not keen on more injuries, but it was enough to crush the hunger that was bothering me.

    Monday Day 12 Sydney –
Sunday lunch stuffed up my momentum, but a wine or two helped with the stress !

Gave the extra cakes away to friends – to remove temptation !!
Back to low carbs, swim, yoga stretch and walk on Monday. Day 12.
    Soup for dinner 😉

    Day 12, Emden Germany, NFD

No lists for me the next few days. We don’t have any sweets in the house so I should be fine.

    @coogeecoastrekker Welcome!

@northerndawn Thanks! I intend to stay calm and collected.

    @stitchincarol Have a save drive!

    Have a nice day everyone!

Day 12 – Lake district UK – FD

    Good morning everyone

Feeling good this morning, a weekend of nice weather, wandering, bimbling in the garden and the prospect of having this week off …. so going to have a FD, first for a little while.

Weather supposed to go downhill this morning, in fact clouds gathering and starting to go damp now, so the ‘Brewhaus’ beckons, going to have a go at 15 litres of a Belgian Witbier, which I’ve been planning for a while.

    Take care all

    Day 12 pocket list….

    @i-hate-lettuce

    Day 12 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Had a good night with my friends on Saturday, it was great to see them, and although we have planned a weekend trip in November to stay in a lighthouse (very socially distanced indeed), that might be postponed if further restrictions. So it was good to meet up.

So Monday FD and there’s a lot of weekend to lose. I have done my Leslie walk and gearing myself up for what is going to be a hard week in work as my colleague is in hospital. As I am still relatively new it’s going to be a challenge to cover everything…..but I am ready for that challenge.

@flourbaby, wow, living in a hotel is not good, hope that you have got yourself that lease and can call a place home. The stress of it all! Then TOM too. I had that experience with TOM appearing a week later…so annoying……so I am with you sister ☺️

@EmmaTaylor oh yes, stay as long as you can, there is something very freeing in being able to make those decisions. In 2016 myself and DH had finished in jobs, we had money, and we took on a tour of Europe on the motorbike. I remember enjoying a week in Sicily, then we arrived in Rome and stayed for another week, and to be honest, only my Dads 80th birthday party was being held at the end of that October, I know we would have stayed out longer, gone further South……so enjoy this time.

    Have a great Monday

    Day 12 – UK – FD

I’m not sure where the last 5 days went to but it seems I last posted on Day 7!!!!!

Been busy with life, spent a lovely day on Friday with DD joining her whilst on her dog walking business, covered 12km doing 4 different groups of dogs – weather was good and only had some light rain for the last 5 mins – then had a lovely coffee at her house before driving back home.
Friday evening I watched ‘The Royal Ballet: Back on Stage’ a 3hr celebration of The Royal Ballet back on stage after a seven month absence – absolutely fantastic for a ballet lover ❤️
Have also been enjoying the French Open as well as some interesting cricket in the IPL…..

Been cooking some good food too
*Made a Beetroot and feta galette with za’atar from Falastin: A Cookbook by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley – used red and golden beetroots as well as some Chioggia beets which are naturally striped as the supermarket had all 3 types available (that’s another fabulous cookbook to try)
*Jamie Oliver’s Crispy-skinned mackerel with Asian-inspired dressing also featured – such a simple but very healthy and tasty dish
*Also made one of OH’s favourite meal – a seafood paella and managed to get a socarrat to form (which refers to the scorched rice crust that forms on the bottom of the pan when cooking paella)
    * @i-hate-lettuce – also made your “Caribbean Christmas Cake” over the weekend 🤞it turns out OK

However I have not managed another FD since Day 6 and definitely fell off the DTF pocket list but did do a couple of CDs and kept up with my regular exercise sessions and so back to my usual Monday FD starting with a Broga Class at 7am this morning with OH so now sitting here trying to catch up with the posts.

@snowflake56 – I’m sure you enjoyed your home free from workers – hopefully they’ll be back to finish the work as planned today
@daffodil2010 – I know what you mean – I do miss socialising with friends or going out for a meal with OH……..
@betsylee – no weight gain is like being on a plateau so “When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of “rehearsal” for maintenance isn’t the worst thing in the world” 😇
@northgeorgia – you’re definitely heading to the 230’s 💪 You have got this!
@markie99 – thinking of you with all that unrest – stay safe 🤗 and WOW happy 51st wedding anniversary to you both 👩‍❤️‍👨 and a wonderful meal to celebrate with 😋
@northerndawn – Like you I started off well last week and then it got away from me too……but that was last week so a fresh start and fresh mindset and onward we go!!
@stitchincarol – thinking on your promise post – the big one I made to myself is never to let myself go back to where I used to be in 2013 weight wise and that is it!!
@emma-taylor – loving your chilled vibes from Greece and agree with others why not extend your stay if it’s possible ad I am a tad envious especially as our weather has cooled down somewhat here!! Unfortunately I can’t even get my OH to agree to go out for a meal let alone to fly somewhere……
    @annabelle48 – keep jogging along – you’ll get there 🤗
@diana123 – no matter how hard this all is you are absolutely right in that you have to be safe especially for your OH – and so sorry to hear about your bout of food poisoning – hope you feel better soon
@brightonbelle – good to have you back safe from your roman adventures and I’m with you today for a good FD500 and have already done my exercise session this morning too – let’s do this!!
    @flourbaby – just a big 🤗
@kazoo – you went to Scotland at the right time missing out on midge season!!!
@coogeecoastrekker – Welcome to the challenge and great to have you with us

@flourbaby – you live just a few miles east of me. I’m near Tooting Broadway. Good luck with your new place. I hope you are ok.
Everybody I speak to and hear from says stay away as long as possible. How sad is that. Unless they’re glad to be rid of me of course. Haha. I think we will probably come back as scheduled, and then go away again if it’s really horrible in London. I bet the Lake District is a lovely place to be right now …. and anywhere else in the world which is away from this madness.

    Day12 CD UK

Not ready to add myself to pocket lists yet. I seem to be seesawing between 11.2 and 11.3.5. so starting today with a control day to see how I get on.

Had a flu jab on Saturday which made me under the weather with a very achy arm. Symptoms are improving with just minor discomfort today. Not nice but infinitely better than flu which I had many years ago and think if I caught it now it would polish me off.

Got a lot of catching up to do on posts but @flourbaby I was so sorry to hear of your problems. You sound fairly upbeat but it must be truly horrible and upsetting so you have all of my sympathies.

Where do you all find such interesting and relevant quotes?

    Day 12 – NSW, Australia – MFD (Fast800)

Thanks everyone for the hugs and positive vibes, today was definitely a better day than yesterday, I think I was just having an off day and the pizza definitely helped. Set myself up for a 13 hour fast but ended up going 15, when the inklings of hunger arose I just drowned them in rooibos tea. And a banana around 10 to break it.

I did weigh myself on the work scales and it was about 100.6kg (around 221lb) but think if I didn’t have the pizzas still digesting I would’ve broke the 100 mark, here’s hoping by the end of the week!! Lunch was half a pouch of Tomato and Capsicum (Sweet Pepper) soup and a wholemeal (whole wheat) roll and dinner the last 4 slices of pizza, still managed to get under the 800 so let myself have a little pack of sherbet as a dessert. Oh and I went to the gym – 15 minutes on the rower and half an hour assorted weights, go me!!

    Day 12 – USA/GA – FD

I wasn’t good yesterday. I grazed all day long in the post-hurricane soggy day blues. I’m back at 242 today, but just slightly so. I’m hoping for some downward movement this week. Tomorrow and Thursday’s weigh in will hopefully show that 🙂

    ***

Lola yawns. “I’m so tired. We shouldn’t have stayed out so late.” I look at Lola. “We don’t do this very often. It was fun.” Wesley remains silent, staring up the street, still embarrassed from the cat debacle. “I’m so glad we all took a time off work this upcoming week, aren’t you Wesley?” Lola shouts. I could just make out Wesley glancing backwards out of the corner of his eye before facing up the street again. “Yeah, great.” Lola giggles. “Well, it was a fun Friday night, early Saturday morning, whatever,” I said. “I had fun!” Lola responded. “My bags are all packed and ready to go tomorrow, err, today!” I look at my watch which reads a little past 3 a.m. “I have a little more packing to do, but I think we could probably be ready to head out around two o’clock this afternoon.” Wesley, still looking away from us lets out a sigh. “Where is that Uber?” I whisper to Lola, “I sure hope Wesley won’t stay grumpy out at the Overlook.” Lola laughs and whispers back, “I wouldn’t count on that.”

One positive – still keeping to the daily 40-50 minute walking, yay!

    Onward and downwards everyone!

Day 12 North Canton OH WFD

Last week was tough for fasting but because I embraced the slow and steady technique, I was able to make it through. I did ok until Saturday when I picked up some French pastries for OH which led to me completely losing the plot on Sunday. I am happy to be fasting today.
@flourbaby my heart goes to you. That must be so destabilizing for you ughh.
@northgeorgia go you!!! 230s are calling your name, I can taste it, its close
@dykask funny how some fasts are a breeze and others a huge trial.
Good strategy with the cakes @coogeecoastrekker. Can I assume you have trekked the Coogee Coast and where is it?

I am really in the weeds with the hot flashes especially after my carb fest yesterday
Went for a run with DD this morning and will work on my lower body this evening when I get home. I am on day 88 of the Morning 100, I can’t believe that I actually stuck to it and I know I am stronger and more flexible as a result. After I complete this series, I will begin a 21 day program with Shawn-T that is almost guaranteed to give you buns of steel 😁

    Hello everyone,
My 500 calorie fast day turned into a FD800 but still happy I managed a fast day at all.

Activity goals were met with 10,000+ steps and a 40 minute online yoga class.

@dykask, thank you for updating your post. Your experience of feeling stronger and less hungry after a workout resonated with me.
@at thank you for the good wishes. Your paella sounds so good and I never knew what that crust was called until you mentioned it.
@northgeorgia and @betsylee, stay strong and good luck.
    @basyjames, what an accomplishment!

And, good luck to everyone in this group. Thanks for being here lending support and making the world seem like a much friendlier place that it sometimes does.

    Plan for Day 12:
16:8, avoid sugar and processed foods

Day 12 Murrells Inlet South Carolina FD

Feel much better and today was my weigh in day. 1.5lbs down in 1.5 weeks. Great motivation for my fast day. So far 70 calories for lunch. I remember how good I felt when I first started fasting and how it got easier each week as the pounds dropped, I now feel like I can do this again.

“If it was about knowledge, we would all be skinny and rich. It’s not about what you know but what you do!”

Stay strong and safe and enjoy your day everyone.

    Day 12 USA (Illinois) NFD

Had a good Silver Sneakers workout and light lunch. Dinner will be leftovers with salad.

@annabelle48 – I hope your flu shot arm soreness abates quickly. I finally decided I am allergic to them as my joint pain continued as long as the shot was active, usually 7-8 months. That was even after trying it in my butt-cheek which netted me hip pain. No thanks. I just do my best to NOT get the flu!

@toady – welcome to our terrific little band!

@at – I am SO with you about our promise to not go back to 2013. 🙂

emma-taylor – I would love to hear about your adventures in Athens. (She says with so much envy….)

@brightonbelle – good to have you back with us.

@coogeecoastrekker – welcome from me too. @basyjames I Googled it and discovered the Coogee Coast is in the Sydney area.

@flourbaby – hope and pray you soon are able to get your roofing worries behind you. Sounds like you’re doing your best to enjoy the hotel!

    Onward and downward.

    Day 12 Minnesota, USA. FD

I’m posting quickly, and briefly today, but I have read all posts…Good luck to everyone re-setting and hoping (like me) to get back to successful FDs and meeting personal goals.

    Stay safe and healthy….be happy!

    Day 13, NFD, Aus

Got through my FD yesterday, though I did some leftover homemade egg n bacon pie (fresh farm eggs from a friend and leeks from our garden). I usually do a LFD but just couldn’t yesterday. I might return to traditional 500 cal FDs until I get my full mojo back.

That’s an optimistic way of looking at no weight loss, @at as a stairway landing on the way to goal. I’ve not lost any weigh in two months now, but to be honest I’ve probably been doing more 6:1 than 5:2 and have definitely been partying with Bacchus far too much. So that’s really a win-win and as you say good practice for maintenance.

Day 12 – at home in rural Nebraska, USA

We got home about 9:30, unloaded the car, unpacked suitcases, and now I’m headed to bed; it was a long–but pleasant!–travel day. Tomorrow I will be so delighted to be back to my normal posting self, and be my host self as well!

    But first, Monday’s Musing:

When’s the last time you were truly HUNGRY? There are going to get more nods of agreement than I would get asking that of pretty much anyone else, since I’m asking a bunch of fasters, LOL, but what I’ve been working on reminding myself, and learning deep in the core of me, is that being hungry is not a bad thing. Instead, it’s a good thing: it says I’m treating my body well by not indulging its every whim, and it’s the tool we were created with to know when to start eating–and when to stop. Whenever I’m hungry and want to eat NOW, I remind myself that just as my mom said to me when I was a kid and complained an hour before supper that I was hungry, I said to my own kids, and need to say to myself: “That’s wonderful! Supper will be ready soon!”

So my challenge for you is to embrace hunger as the gift it is…it’s certainly not something I experienced before I got firmly back on the wagon last February and quit eating so much and so often, and it’s not something I experienced on the days since then when I was horrified by how much I ate, so it is something to celebrate as proof we’re treating our bodies well!

With that thought, look for the moments you’re hungry and instead of being regretful you have to experience, embrace it for the excellent thing it is!

    Day 13, Emden Germany, NFD

    @betsylee Happy belated birthday wishes!

@at and @northerndawn The workers managed to make two holes and one large crack in the linoleum so they had to cut it off and replace it. We have a visible seam in front of the bedroom door now. We try to think it’s only flooring but it’s annoying. A total waste of money. We’ll be glad if the floor is in and everything goes back to normal again.

@annabelle48 A good site for quotes is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes

@stitchincarol I’m hardly ever hungry so I could postpone eating but sometimes I just feel this need to eat. Unfortunately I never go for healthy options when this happens. It’s hard to explain why.

    @diana123 Well done!

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 13 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Going for a B2B but it will probably be over 500 cals today. Good day yesterday, so ready for today. A nice piece of hake and some veg for dinner and then a 5km walk on the track. But it’s definitely harder to shift those pounds than it used to be.

@stitchincarol what a wonderful musing regarding hunger. I don’t really like feeling hungry but as an experienced faster I mostly ignore the hunger until it’s time for my scheduled breaking of the fast. Easier done when busy, harder when relaxing at home. My mother had set mealtimes for us, there was no snacking treats for us poor kids (ha ha) and we always ate our dinner (no picky eaters tolerated in our clan of 8 kids 😀).

So good thought….embrace the hunger…your body will thank you. I drown hunger with water and then I am fine again. But some days it just gets too much, but perhaps they are days when other forces are at work, hormones, stress, illness…..

I worked late yesterday as my colleague is in hospital after a seizure poor thing 😨 so I remained calm and carried on despite being unfamiliar with a lot of things. Being older and wiser now I know when to ask for support and I know when to prioritise things so I will not let things get on top of me. When I was twenty years younger I might have let myself get overwhelmed with it all……..so that’s one of the benefits of getting older 😆

@snowflake56 oh my heart guess out to you with your floor issues ☹️

@penz you and me in same boat with Bacchus but I am trying a but better these days in the DTF ( except some days I don’t 😱).

@emmataylor enjoy Athens. I was there only once, back in 2000 and it was a business trip, but I forced my boss to come visit the Parthenon. I distinctly remember waiting outside the hotel for a taxi, crazy traffic, and a motorbike going by with an elderly lady sitting side-saddle on the back and wearing a fur coat. That’s my bonkers memory of Athens 😄

    Have a great Tuesday.

    Pocket list Day 12

    Day 13 Athens. OMAD

There was a huge electric storm here last night. I’ve never really seen one before. It was like someone was flicking a huge blue light on hundreds of times a minute. DH slept through it ( how??? ) but I was very impressed. I don’t know Athens at all, but DH is an architectural historian, so we are off to look at buildings today. Hoping to get a swim in the Hilton pool at some point. Ridiculously expensive but it may be our last swim this year. 😢😢😢
OMAD going fine – it’s funny but there just isn’t time to eat a lot of things I used to have. Once I have a normal evening meal, I just don’t want any of the extras which probably contributed to how much I weighed. Unexpected bonus.

Day 13 – Lake district UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Duff decision yesterday trying a FD !
I was warned off FD’s etc until I get ‘back to normal’ (normal? good luck with that!) did OK until late morning, had remembered plenty of water! Then really ‘went off’, dog tired, had to give up. Had food and a rest, took a while then more food and got going again after an hour or so.
Must admit, I’m maintaining at the moment eating a lot more than I have been, obviously need more fuel for the fight!

@at – Hope you enjoy the CC Cake, Mrs IHL has ours well wrapped ‘maturing’ – well I reckon more like preserving with all the rum that the fruit soaked in!
Beetroot and Feta sounded good as well, beetroot very much underrated in our opinion.

@emma Taylor – Athens, incredible place, just so much to take in!

Clouds gathering, rain forecast, off out for a wander before it starts raining.

    Take care all.

    Day 13 – UK – CD

Good morning all – lazy morning so far – slept in – cup of tea with OH and now catching up early with the forum for a change.

A good FD500 yesterday, went fairly easily much to my surprise!!
Even baked OH a Torta Di Riso – an Italian rice cake – I did a plain version flavoured with lemon zest/juice, vanilla and plenty of nutmeg grated over the top before baking – He loves rice pudding and this is a great cake version – served warm with a home made mixed berry compote – he was in heaven!!! The Italians tend to serve theirs cold and add candied fruit and often crust the cake tin with powdered amaretti biscuits – all depends on where you live in Italy I gather

@emma-taylor – the Lake District is rather busy atm especially the small villages and there are lots of non hikers/walkers visiting so they tend to stay low level and gather in the villages, near the lakes making it all rather busy
@annabelle48 – going for CDs are a good idea
@toady – 🤞you’ll break that 100kg mark soon – stick with the basics and remember to drink plenty of water
@northgeorgia – leave yesterday’s grazing day behind you and had a good FD on Day 12
@betsylee – birthday weekends are only once a year and meant to be celebrated and then we move forward starting with your TDEE Monday
@markie99 – a FD800 is good and all the exercise you did too 👍
@diana123 – very positive post – go you!!
@penz and @daffodil2010 – I’m in that Bacchus boat with you and try hard for the DTF (TRY being the operative word here)- Unfortunately I have a delivery tomorrow from The Wine Society 🤭
@stitchincarol – In answer to your Monday’s musing – I suspect most of us have never been truly HUNGRY…..when fasting I know I hanker for food at times but can distract myself from the thought of eating fairly easily with a big glass of water
    @snowflake56 – 🤗 I know what you mean by that seam…….
@i-hate-lettuce – Thank you and does Mrs IHL keep feeding the cake with rum on a regular basis until Christmas??

You just have to remember that every healthy choice you make is the right one. Just because the scale may not reflect it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth it. Sending positive vibes to all those in need today 🙏
SUCCESS IS THE SUM OF SMALL EFFORTS, REPEATED DAY IN AND DAY OUT

    @at – Re Cake ……. Oh yes!

    Day 13 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in at 240.6 this morning. A little disappointing, but I can’t be too disappointed, as I reminded myself that’s a few ounces below my lowest weigh-in last week. I could see 239 this week, fingers crossed!

    ***

“Should be here any moment,” Wesley said, still glancing up the road. Just as he finishes speaking, a yellow Ford Fiesta drives around the corner, beeps its horn, and flashes its lights. Lola and I walk over to the car and I open the back door. Lola starts to get in when a man behind us growls, “excuse me?” I look back and see a slightly peeved couple, the man with his hands crossed and the woman with her hands on her hips. Lola says, “is this our Uber?” The driver turns around and says, “Terrence?” Lola gets out of the back seat, embarrassed, and apologizes to Terrence and his date. “Sorry!” As the couple climb into the back seat and speed off, we make our way back towards Wesley, who is bent over with laughter. “Payback time! Payback!” Lola slaps Wesley’s right side with her purse as she walks past. “Very cute, Wesley.” I sigh.

Best wishes to those on the pocket list today!

    Day 13 UK NFD

Aiming for a reasonably controlled day , concentrating on healthy choices I’m going to be kind to myself this week If I exercise every day and get 2 good FDs in that’ll do and Ican build on it next week

    Day 13 – UK – Fast 800 -16:8 – ZBC

Iv had up and down days this past week
& Was feeling quite down the second half of last week
I got lax with calorie counting too as I was fed up of it!
However I tried to make good choices and I think Iv got a good understanding now of staying low calorie without weighing every single item

Iv managed to loose 2 lbs since this time last week
Not spectacular, but a good steady gain
& I think now Iv started loosing again it’s going to motivate me to keep going and make even more progress by Christmas

I’m a bit frustrated Iv gone backwards and put weight on but I’m still a stone lighter than when I started so small steps will get me back on track and remembering it’s a journey that isn’t linear

Iv meal prepped a lovely comforting and low calorie quorn and veggies bolognaise this week so looking forward to that later on this cold day!

Thank you everyone for keeping the updates coming and well done on your progress

Day 13 North Canton OH LFD

@at Love the analogy, no weight loss is the landing on the way to goal

@stitchincarol welcome back and thank you for the reminder. Hunger is not a bad thing, in fact I remember that around the time I started this WOL 3ish years, we used to say that hunger pangs were a sign that fat was weeping (or something like that) like @snowflake56 I really don’t experience hunger anymore, the only time I get hungry is if I am on an extended fast; I may feel a pang or two on the 3rd day and it usually passes fairly quickly if I ignore it. Now cravings –that’s a whole different story

@snowflake56 that floor would bug the heck out of me, and I feel your pain.

@Nothgeorgia just a matter of time now

Not the greatest FD yesterday, but under 850 cals, so doing another today….I expect my cravings will be less today and a FD easier to manage.

@at I also love the analogy of the staircase landing for the times we don’t seem to be moving forward. And you describe your cooking and meals so wonderfully……have you ever written a cookbook? You should!

@snowflake56 I am so sorry to hear of the mistakes they made…..it is something you will always see as you go in and out of your bedroom…..I would make them fix it……in fact, last year they put a flawed hardwood floorboard right outside of out bedroom in a hallway. My husband was so angry because they argued it wouldn’t be noticed. Finally, after two weeks of ridiculous stress and anger on our part, they cut it out and put a new one in. It is not the best solution but it looks good. What a waste of everyone’s time to have to fight for what should have been the expected quality. I was willing to give up just to have peace, but DH wouldn’t allow it. I’m glad now. I hope you can find a solution you can be satisfied with.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Day 13 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD

I’m thrilled to report that even after abandoning Fast5 while visiting DD and her family, and eating far too much, and drinking more than usual, I’m only up to 150.8 this morning–WHEW! I think one reason the damage wasn’t worse than it was is that I finally got some exercise in on Saturday afternoon (a 45 minute brisk walk at 8500 feet is no small accomplishment) and on Sunday morning (with a Leslie walk I could bring up on DD’s TV). On those days, I found it much easier to eat less. Hmm…a connection between exercise and eating less? Who’da thunk??? 😁 So today I’ll walk with Leslie, I’ll do a 500FD and then I’ll be set for tomorrow’s feast celebrating DS’s 29th birthday.

@flourbaby, my sympathies on your leaky roof, the problems it’s caused, and the red tape before you can actually get it fixed well!! I hope your new living quarters are a lovely substitute until you can get back into your own home.

@markie99, happy anniversary; your special meal sounded absolutely glorious!

@emma-taylor, I’m loving your descriptions of your time in Greece; thanks so much for sharing! And what a great testimonial for how well OMAD is working while on vacation.

@northgeorgia, I feel your pain with not arriving yet in the 230s, and yet I’m still certain it’ll be here any day! And I’m very thankful you had no more damage from Hurricane Delta than you did.

@diana123, food poisoning is definitely not the preferred method of successfully pulling off a FD! I’ve had food poisoning exactly once, and it was awful, awful, awful; glad you’re better!

@kazoo So glad your time in Scotland was wonderful, that you felt safe, and that it was the break you needed.

@toady I imagine those dizzy spells are very puzzling as well as concerning! Are you getting closer to an answer? Going to see a doctor? Or did you perhaps Google it? And go you, indeed, for that gym workout!

@northerndawn, your Sunday family cookouts must be such a treasure to you, to get to plan on that time together every week! What will you do as the weather makes them impossible? Will you meet inside?

@coogeecoastrekker Welcome to our group! We’d love to learn anything about you
and your 5:2 journey you’d like to share.

@i-hate-lettuce, I love your discipline in trying for a FD, and your wisdom and scrapping the plan when you saw how your body wasn’t tolerating it well. Will you do the Belgian Witbier today? Our two IPAs (one Mosaic, one hazy) will get opened tomorrow at DS’s birthday dinner; if they’re as good as I think they will be, we’ll be brewing another batch this weekend. What is the Christmas beer you mentioned? Have you made it yet?

@daffodil2010 I love hearing the confidence as you prepare for this week at work doing more than usual, and wish you lots of success as you take on the extra work!

@brightonbelle “I’m going to be kind to myself this week.” Honestly, that’s the best approach every week to this WOL and to ourselves. Good choice.

@at I love your descriptions of food you’ve cooked! DS’s birthday dinner is almost entirely from Ad Hoc At Home by Thomas Keller; I’ll give a report on Thursday. And I’ll be baking the Caribbean Christmas Cake this week as the special ingredients it called for are arriving from Amazon…no grocery stores near me had everything.

@annabelle48 After finishing the sweater a week or so ago, have you started a new project? My DD asked me for a hat and I’m going to be knitting one in an entrelac pattern, using fall colors. Now to FIND the fall colors in yarn that’s what I want. 🙂

@betsylee I’m dazzled that you’re walking 40-50 minutes every day; well done!

@basyjames, I just looked up Morning 100 and I am beyond dazzled that you’re on 88! Huge kudos to you!!!

@penz, your FD sounds perfect…your egg and bacon and leek pie was most certainly a perfect treat to reward the good behavior all day. “Partying with Bachus” is a great way to phrase it, and certainly familiar; I find I like wine in the winter months far more than in the summer, when I prefer the cold and thirst-quenching qualities of beer. And not to lose weight in two months? Hmmm…what I heard when I read that is that you’ve not gained weight in two months! Yup, that’s practice for maintenance, and that’s an accomplishment in its own right.

Oh, @snowflake56, I’m so disappointed for you! Can’t you insist the contractor fix the floor so there’s no seam? It would certainly be MORE time with workers, but since it’s such an eyesore to you, perhaps it’s worth considering.

@bellalondon, two pounds in one week??? That sounds marvelously spectacular to me! Remember, this is a WOL, not a sprint, and when any portion becomes onerous (such as counting calories) then you’re making the right decision to find a way to make it more sustainable for the long haul. We’ve got you as you continue on this journey!

@dykask Finding control on NFDs continues to be the hugest challenge for all of us; good luck with meeting your goals!

On February 23, 2018, this is what I emailed to myself, and read every single day for a long time, trying to find the motivation to get back on track (I should have just come back to this forum!!!):

Food does not bring me happiness. It may taste glorious, it may be satisfying to a hungry stomach, and it may be a huge accomplishment to have cooked a particularly amazing dish, but it does not bring me happiness.

    * Indeed, too much food brings me unhappiness and discontent and misery.

    * Very little food–a fast day–does bring me happiness, because of how good I feel, and how proud I am of my restraint.

No food is going to add sufficiently to my well-being that I’ll be pleased in a month to have eaten it. However, eating less food today will add to my well-being so that in a month, I’ll be thrilled not to have eaten it!

My mind and my will is stronger than my cravings. My cravings are temporary, meant to be dominated by my mind and my will. I am not spineless, and my eating and drinking choices should reflect my strength of character, not the side of me that gives me no pride.

Today, I will not fool myself into thinking I’ll be happy if I eat/drink more.

When I go to bed, I intend to be pleased with how I interacted with food today.

Good luck to everyone with being pleased when you go to bed tonight!

Day 13 Murrells Inlet South Carolina CD

Yeah I did it, fast day yesterday went really well. The cornbeef and cabbage was a good call for a light dinner.

Today I plan on keeping things under control and tomorrow is what I call my eat day. Really looking forward to having some good stuff for dinner tomorrow night. When we came down here looking for a new home we found this little gem of a family owned Italian restaurant and for over a year now we go every Wednesday night, of course we can’t eat inside so we do take out.

Go Be LOVE the world needs you. Have a great day everyone and stay safe.

    Day 13 Wisconsin USA CD
    Hi everyone,
Lovely autumn day here in WI and a perfect walking day for me. I’ve got half my steps in and so far following my plan to eat under TDEE. Yoga later this afternoon.

DH and I got our flu shots (or as some call them, our flu jabs) today. Happy to cross that off my to do list.

Dinner tonight will be simple – my version of Mexican rice, and tortillas with eggs, beans and cheese.

@stitchincarol, love your musings and this one really made me think. Thanks.
@at, the Torta di Riso sounds amazing and your OH is very lucky.
    @northgeorgia hang in there.
@brightonbelle, that sounds like an excellent plan
@bellalondon, small steps still get us there, so, good for you.
@diana123 congratulations on a successful fast.

    Day 13 plan:
16:8, avoid sugar and processed foods
    Eat under my TDEE
    Continue walking and daily yoga

    Good luck today to everyone.

    Hello everyone

I’m back after gaining 16 pounds in lockdown :(. Mostly down to stress eating.

    SW: 167
    GW: 140 (eventually)

    Day 13, second post

@prina39, welcome back! How long since you’ve been part of the group? It’ll be good to get to know you and to cheer you on!

    Day 14, NFD, Aus

Oooh @at – my OH loves rice pudding too. (It’s not for me.) Would you mind sharing your Torta Di Riso recipe? I reckon that would be a nice surprise treat I could make.

Hang in there @northgeorgia – we’re not even half way through the month yet and you alllllmost have one foot outside the 240s Club. With a bit of hokey pokey and shaking it all about, you’ll get there!

I’m with @northerndawn. Get your angry face on, and make them fix the lino, @snowflake56. To go through all this angst and not have it done properly will bug you forever.

Happy Wednesday everyone. Which reminds me, I wonder how @funshipfreddie is going? @EmmaTaylor, do you have any insight into your husband? (Sorry to the new Octoberites – old insight joke.)

    Day 13, THIRD post!

@i-hate-lettuce, @at, and anyone else who has an opinion: white or gold rum for the Christmas Cake?

    D14 UK Lake District

Well I am still here but only just. I am really struggling to get my head round things. I am constantly grazing. Not on bad food just bulk.

I have asked myself why am I doing this and still go to the fridge for a handful of nuts or a spoon of peanut butter.

    Day 14 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Fairly good FD yesterday, a very fishy evening meal, then a brisk walk for 5km around the local floodlit track, bed early with a cup of lemon and ginger tea. Feel great this morning.

It’s an NFD and we have already decided to have take out for dinner, in keeping with helping the local eateries stay in business during these restricted times. So looking forward to it.

As last week was so busy with guests and Grandaughter we are hoping to have a quiet weekend for just us and head off in the camper on Saturday for a quiet night by the lake, DH hoping to catch a few fish, me just wanting to relax. Everybody needs ME time.

@kazoo hang in there, you are not alone….we all have had those moments of sabotaging ourselves, the “I just don’t care” days……but you posted today which is a good sign. Hold all those grasping hands from the wagon, we have got you.

Have a good Hump Day everyone….it’s not the same without @funshipfreddie but here we go 🐫

@stitchincarol – There’s quite a lot of spice in the cake already, so don’t waste money on buying expensive spiced rum! We tend to use an ordinary un-spiced gold rum, just a little once a week.

    Day 14 Athens. OMAD

@kazoo – it must have been national nut day yesterday. I found raw peanuts in a supermarket here, and managed to polish them off last night. Maybe your body just needs them? It’s not as if they are rubbish. Don’t beat yourself up…
My OMAD plan was streeeeeeeeetched a bit yesterday, but I’m just going to pretend I planned it, and get back to it today.
Brad hasn’t been in touch, and the children are wondering where he is. I seem to remember he said he’d see them once they’d finished school. Hardly the actions of a responsible parent. I heard he’d been seeing Jen. I’m heartbroken. Especially on hump day. 🐪 🐫 ( sorry for those who missed the start of this silly joke..)

    Day 14 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

@kazoo I’m still here too but haven’t posted for a few days because I’m still struggling. Like you we’ve been shielding since March because of DH’s health and I am finding life in limbo increasingly difficult. I know I have to get my act together and make the most of life but my inner child feels so sad and just wants to eat and drink for comfort. I’m just taking 5:2 one day at a time and not putting any additional pressure on myself hoping I can come out of isolation healthy and within a few pounds of my maintenance weight range 🤞 for now I’m just trying to hang on to sanity 😉

I won’t be putting myself on any lists but I am still aiming for Monday and Thursday FDs. Day 12 was a good FD800 and yesterday I made good food choices and resisted the call of the wine rack. Checking in and reading everyone’s posts is helping to keep me mindful.

@stitchincarol thank you for sharing your email to yourself it really helped me yesterday, thanks to you I chose not to open a bottle of wine!

    Together we are stronger 🤗

Day 14 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone,

@stitchincarol – Yes got the Belgian Whit beer brewed, very impressed to be honest, a simple recipe, and once in the fermentation vessel it took off like a train. The yeast I used was specific to Belgian whit, amazing the difference the different brewers yeasts makes to the finished beer.

For non brewers but like a chuckle ….With brewing beer comes a waste product, spent grain. Basically you put grain in a mash tun and soak it for an hour in hot water (it goes like porridge) after the hour you pour more hot water in and it washes out the natural sugar which is collected for the next stage, once all the sugars are washed out you’re left with, ‘spent grain’.
I don’t like waste so the spent grain is taken down to a neighbour to feed his hens, I get half a dozen eggs in return. This week I bagged up the 5+ kilo of spent grain, still quite wet, took it to neighbour. Going through the gate, caught the bag which promptly deposited the grain on the floor, which immediately drew the attention of hungry hens and the dog! So I’m trying to keep them away from the warm wet grain, while Al grabbed a bucket and shovel to stop them scoffing the lot, chaos!

@daffodil2010 – Brilliant way to grab ME time, something we always instilled in the kids when they were young, the need for ME time! Hope DH enjoys his fishing session, it’s not always about catching fish though, as he will understand!

Another day for a wander today, around the village a number of people have apple trees, which take me back 50+ years to my scrumping days as a kid. Only these days so many folk I see on my MOAM walks are happy for me to fill my pockets straight from the tree, luckily there are so many different varieties I can collect some on my travels for weeks. Not quite as much fun though, but funny when I’m on my way home and stop for a natter with someone with lumpy bulging pockets!

Funny mentioning @funshipfreddie was just wondering how he was doing the other day.

    Take care all
