  • Day 16 โ€“ Mondayโ€“ Gold Coast Queensland Australia โ€“ FUN DAY (FD)๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ„
    2nd post

The sun just came out and it stopped raining … hallelujah๐ŸŒค๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž
More than two weeks of incessant rain! The humidity is off the scale!

Apparently won’t be for long as there is more rain on the way… but, hey, we’ll take it for now!๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

    Day 16, Germany, FD

@linda.b Thanks for adding me to the pocket list, I thought about skipping this FD but I’ll give it a try. No weight loss until now (I know why), no motivation at all.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 16 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – NFD

    PFDS today for me ๐Ÿ™‚

@snowflake56 – sounds like you lost your mojo? I think you missed ‘Momentous March’, where phrases like ‘hoping/trying for a fast day’ were banned by host @stitchincarol; to be replaced by RESOLVING that today will be a FD. Maybe read her intro on page 1 ‘Why Momentous March?’? https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/momentous-march/ It may give you some motivation…

Sending RESOLVE to the Monday fasters ๐Ÿ’ช I’ll be back on the list tomorrow.

    Day 16 UK NFD 18:6

@linda grateful for all your FAB advise

at 90.95 – so all good. I will stick to 18:6 today

    Raced a 5k over weekend – 24 mins – and played tennis

Got this weeks meals planned – salads will feature! See how it goes.

Hope things calm down in Queensland – you have had a torrid time.

    Enjoy Scotland

Day 16 – Craigellachie and Aberlour, Scottish Highlands – FD

    Good morning everyone

@linda.b thanks for putting me on todays pocket list.

5:2 WOL is brilliant, even caters for holidays!

Yesterday, 4 mile walk from cottage along the River Spey. Full 3 course Sunday roast lunch with beer. 4 mile bimbling walk back to cottage, lazy afternoon watching wildlife. Evening bottle of wine, only food involved a few little nibbles.
10 hours sleep and feeling rather good, FD today will be a careful one, cup of tea for breakfast. Off out to explore a new walk.

    Take care all

    Day 16 UK NFD

Morning all , back from a delightful week in Dubrovnik and thrilled to see the scales show the same as when I left so the efforts werenโ€™t wasted ,getting back into the swing of things today hope to be able to catch up on posts this afternoon and fasting tomorrow ๐Ÿ’ช

    Day 16 USA (Illinois) FD

Need to get a good FD in, maybe will even make it a WFD to tell @stitchincarol that I tried that. But not sure….

This time next week we will be at O’Hare Airport/Chicago to leave for a week in Jamaica. We get to join others who are taking holiday! Intentionally on previous Caribbean vacations we have never stayed at an “all-inclusive” resort, but it seems that Jamaica really encourages them. It will be hard not to over-eat or over-drink, and I know that. So this week will likely have 2 FD’s.

Sooo tired today! I didn’t sleep a wink last night. Today will be rough!

    Day 16 – USA/GA – NFD

Yikes, weigh-in: 217 lbs. That family reunion carb-loading feast really did me in yesterday. Plus I stayed up until 3 a.m. finishing a jigsaw puzzle LOL! Anyway, doing ZBC this morning, and I do have a pot of chili today, salad ready to make in the refrigerator, etc., etc. I could fast, but it’s my day off work and it’s easier to just wait until tomorrow. Hopefully the 217 won’t climb higher tomorrow.

    Day 16 – UK – NFD

Very busy getting home organised for OH before I left for my week in Scotland – still managed to do my classes and go out for a couple of walks – did a quick weigh in before I left for Scotland on Sunday morning so I aim to get back weighing no more than that ๐Ÿคž

Arrived in Killiecrankie yesterday – a lovely, warm and summery type of day – the house is gorgeous but very isolated with wonderful views!!

Today is another story………grey, drizzly and definitely cooler but we still got out for a wander and explore this morning – spending the afternoon chilling out and we are taking turns in providing an evening meal for the group – my turn is not until Wednesday!
I also brought along a coffee and walnut cake which we are just now enjoying with a cup of tea/coffee ๐Ÿ˜‹whilst folks read, catch up on line…etc very civilised…..

I don’t imagine that any fasting will happen this week so I’m going for a more controlled approach to eating…….๐ŸคžI manage to maintain…….

@ariel_22 – welcome to another Aussie
@linda.b – hopefully the floods did not affect you too much
@daffodil2010 – I suspect that you will have much nicer weather in Andalucia than my Scottish sojourn

Feel it might be too rude to spend too much time on line instead of socialising so keeping my posts short, hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy and enjoying life

Will try to post in again tomorrow sometime

    Day 16 – FD 800

The scale is jumping around the past week. Lowest I have seen and up to 5 lb heavier. Usually I only see about a 1.5 pound variation- so Iโ€™m wondering what is up. Not actually worried, but sticking to my M&W fast days seems quite important.

I have started weights again- maybe that is effecting the weigh-ins.

Busy schedule today, but thinking of all ๐Ÿ˜€

And joining the pocketlist- would not want it to be too lonely!

    Day 17, NFD, Aus

Morning all! Another beautiful blue morning here but there is the beginning of a bite in the air. Brrrr!

Not much to report – went out for dinner last night and I listened to my body. I felt sated so didn’t finish the chips (which I would usually pig out on). Small steps, but in the right direction.

Doing my FD a little differently from my normal. I forgot about a P.E.O. luncheon (reminded by a fellow member at Silver Sneakers this morning) so tried to just sample the items on the buffet table with brunch type food. Also did have a small “Bellini” that is peach puree with sparkling wine. MyFitnessPal gave me about 650 calories for all of what I ate. But that means, my normal FD of having a salad with protein for supper won’t happen.

Having that lunch left me much hungrier than a normal FD for me. Lesson learned. I will stick with my tried-and-true FD regimen.

Day 17 โ€“ Tuesday – Gold Coast, Queensland Australia โ€“ NFD

    Good morning everyone

@brightonbelle – welcome back from your Dubrovnik jaunt. Wonderful that the scales didn’t move! AWESOME in fact! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ† Here’s a little medal and trophy from us all for showing us how to have a good time without sabotaging our FD goals! And, you too @i-hate-lettuce, another exemplar of WOL while plodding the paths of Scotland. ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ†. Yes, you both prove it is possible to have a good time, a quality of life and still look after your health and weight and not be deprived of happiness!
@i-hate-lettuce, you have me addicted to Live Cam ospreys! Watching, waiting, waiting for the hatching…. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿง๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

@funshipfreddie … PFDS … Post FD Smugness indeedy! Another medal and trophy to you too! step up to the podium! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ† nothing wrong with being smug about FD achievements… you rock pal! (Love it that you do your own housework; if you’ve a moment I have some here that needs attention, especially a growing pile of ironing!!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜Š)
@snowflake56, you’re welcome! How did your FD go? Hope it was successful. Once you embed your FDs into your routine it all becomes second nature, so you’ll be more resolved to stay on track. You’ve done FD before, so we’re all cheering you on because you (and we) know you can and will do it again! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

@songbirdme – sounds like a fabulous holiday in the making.. The nice thing about holidays, as @i-hate-lettuce attests, is that you can add in loads more fun and physical activity to offset the eating! I bet you can’t wait, sounds like so much fun!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

@ccco – hope you managed some more sleep last night. Nothing worse than being tired but still having to function! Also very hard to stay on track with your FD goals when you’re tired. Take care!๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜ด

@northgeorgia …. ouch! I bet that hurt! Never mind, you did factor in the family feast so now close that door and move forward…. you can use this week to get back on track….and then this time next week see a downhill slide! The chilli sounds yummmm!๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜œ

@at… sounds so idyllic in Scotland with friends! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

@mariaelena…. scales are pure but necessary evil, aren’t they? They fool with our minds๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜. Up when we think they should be down, down when we least expect it….

Well, Tuesday, today, is my weigh day and find I am exactly the same as the first day of the month….. grrrrr…. this damn plateau! At least not up but, when I can get out striding the paths again, I am sure it will make a downward difference. In the meantime I continue with my FD program.

    cheerie dearies ๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜

Hi @penz .. we cross posted! We could do with some of your cooler weather up here! You left chips on the plate? Impressive!๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜› Have a great day! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜Š

    Day 17, Germany, NFD

@linda.b My FD went well, I only had 300 cals. I was much more motivated when I wanted to lose more weight. I don’t really have to lose weight, it’s just a vanity thing now. How frustrating you’re still on this plateau. You posts are a delight to read!

@funshipfreddie Thank you for the information.

    @brightonbelle Well done!

@at and @i-hate-lettuce Enjoy you stay in Scotland!

@songbirdme I’m also doing better when I stick to the things I used to eat on FDs in the past. I’m back to crackers with cottage cheese, basil, tomatoes and a bit of olive oil. When I’m cold, I’ll have chicken broth, it’s my staple in the freezer.

    Have a nice day everyone!

My DH just told me, he is in for a FD today (yesterday he had to work) so I’m doing another one.

Day 17 – Loch Morlich walk today – NFD

    Good morning everyone

What a cracker of a morning, very little cloud, no wind and loads of sunshine ๐Ÿ™‚

Surprisingly easy FD yesterday, didn’t do a long walk so wasn’t particularly hungry, which made it easier. Looks like very settled weather here for the rest of our break, so the next 2 days a couple of our favourite walks. Round Loch Morlich today then a long day tomorrow, starting and ending at a fabulous spot where we finish off the day with a picnic with views across the Cairngorm mountains.

@at … we have stayed a few times near Killicrankie, just a couple of miles north, a swiss cottage style chalet and the farmhouse a few hundred yards along the fellside. Up above the A9 on the right as you head north, the quarry just visible on the opposite hillside. The walks from the properties are stunninb, out all day never see anyone!

    Take care all.

    Day 17 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – FD

@linda.b – ironing?!! Nooo!! I must admit, that’s one thing I don’t do. Life’s too short. Can’t remember the last time I ironed anything. I use a laundry service. I dump it there on a Monday & pick it up on Tuesday. Just wash/dry/fold. They fold everything so nicely it doesn’t even need ironing. Have you ever tried a 3 or 4 day egg fast? It’s one effective way to get off a plateau. Maybe not the healthiest, but it works. A few of us on this forum did it a few years ago, & I think every who did it lost at least a couple of pounds. There are various ways to do it, but I think we used this:- https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/egg-fast-diet-menu-plan-low-carb-keto/

@funshipfreddie just looked at the ‘egg fast’links you posted …. thank you, very interesting. In fact I had coincidentally just finished dinner that used two eggs as protein with my veg for tonight.
Re the egg fast though, I’ll think about it but not sure I could face eggs for 3 or 4 days in a row. Hmmmm, thinking I could give it a go and see how far I get. Hmmmmm….. we’ll see….

    Day 17 – USA/GA – FD

I come to you embarrassed (and honestly with a couple of tears this morning), as I weigh in my heaviest all year at 220 lbs. I had the family feast this weekend, and it had devastating effects. I know it’s mostly bloating, but there’s no sense in denying there has been some overall weight gain since March. Still, it seems obvious my body was adjusting to a new lower metabolism, so I needed a plain 5:2 week, even if it meant waiting almost a week between FDs. It will be pretty weather this week, so I’ll also try to get out and walk at work each day. And onward on my quest to return back to foods and patterns that are healthier on NFDs. Here we restart again…

    @funshipfreddie

    @northgeorgia

Day 17 – Back home to Rural Nebraska, USA – ???

The weekend was absolutely delightful, although sadly filled with gluttonous eating. That’s my new word (gluttony) as I’m working to make myself realize just how nuts I am on NFDs. The newly baptized baby entertained us all by learning to roll over and then to roll back the other way, so that was fun to see!

The truly awful news is that DD, DGD2yo and DD’s MIL all tested positive for Covid yesterday morning as we were preparing to leave Indiana. DH and I tested (as did the FIL) and we’re all negative…for now. DH and I both have roaring red sore throats, so the pastor event scheduled for today has been cancelled as have all my piano lessons. What has me seriously worried, however, is that my Ascension Hymn Fest is a week from this Thursday–and the choir rehearsal for it is this Friday. To be so up in the air as to whether or not DH and I will test positive, and whether or not we’ll be fine in a week, is horribly frustrating.

So it’s a waiting game until we test again, which I think we’ll do this afternoon. And then, if we test positive, another waiting game to see when we test negative. So many decisions to make based on results. Gah.

My heart is not in fasting today, so I’ll sign off for now.

    Day 17 – CD 16:8

On track here, weigh-in this morning says 133.

@funshipfreddie lol, I would surely lose some weight on the 3 day egg only diet – I am allergic to eggs, so that would be a 3 day water fast! I can eat eggs as an ingredient in small amounts (so quiche or custard = no but a piece of cake or brownie that had egg in the batter is ok occasionally). It is irksome, as so many lower calorie meals with a good amount of protein are egg based, but I can work with a lot of vegan recipes to mix things up.

@linda.b I try not to obsess on that scale number, happy or sad. I use the happy scale app which averages out the bumps on the weigh-ins to track – that anomalous high reading yesterday doesnโ€™t phase it! But I was quite taken aback yesterday morning. The mysterious extra 3 lb are gone today, so it isnโ€™t really weight gain, but I canโ€™t figure out why I would have been holding on to so much water weight unless my reintroduction of weight training is the culprit.

AND, Iโ€™m also one who avoids ironing at all costs, Iโ€™ve been known to rewash a clothing article if it is too wrinkled rather than get out that iron! But that is mostly because my dyspraxia means I end up ironing in big creases as I eliminate wrinkles. I have found if one pulls out a piece of clothing from the dryer as it is still just barely damp and hangs it dry the rest of the way, one can avoid a lot of ironing.

@5413.5 to a geek gamer gal like myself, โ€œthe cake is a lieโ€ is a famous game quote that is ringing in my mind after reading your post. It sounds like you are doing grand at avoiding it!

@snowflake56 I have a limited menu of standards on my FD as well. My DH says Iโ€™m in a rut (jokingly) but I find it becomes almost like comfort food.

Lots to do today, and warm thoughts to the pocketlisters!

    2nd post

@stitchincarol – keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for a negative test result! Take care!

    Day 17 USA (Illinois) NFD

Pretty much taking it easy today, some vacation prep. Although the resort says they have snorkeling equipment, we plan to bring our own. DH has big feet and a prescription mask, so his for sure. I am such a “creature comfort” person, I don’t want to be without smaller items I always have handy. At least they are on 110 current, so no worry about plugs, etc.

@stitchincarol – whew… so good to hear you’re home safely, but the constant testing for COVID must be a trial. Prayers for you and all your family. Glad it was a good weekend otherwise!

@mariaelena – had to look up that quote about cake — funny how games do get into us, isn’t it? At times I could hardly exist without keeping up with spoiling food in a diner game. Now it is the challenges in Trivia Crack.

Re: ironing. @funshipfreddie – you are wise to have your laundry done for you, and folded so perfectly! I enjoy ironing, probably because I have been a seamstress most of my life, and for proper tailoring, you iron as you go along. I just mentioned to DH yesterday how I like crisp cotton shorts in summer, ironed of course. But I have his dress shirts done at the laundry here to get light starch. I don’t do them.

@northgeorgia – hang in there, you’ll be down again soon.

Must get on with my tasks…

    Onward and downward.

Day 18 โ€“ Wednesdayโ€“ Gold Coast, Queensland Australia โ€“ NFD

    Busy day ahead.

@stitchincarol – glad you’re home safely at least… if you are going to be unwell then home is the best place to be! Wonderful though that you were all able to be together for the baptism and the fun of playing with the bub… they grow so quickly so every opportunity to be with them is a treasure!๐Ÿ˜ Fingers crossed that the dreaded lurgy leaves you as fast as it came.๐Ÿคž Folk around here seem to have a very mild dose these days (the benefit of vaccinations, I expect. We’re up to our 4th boosters now) and are up and around in just a few days. Of course they have to isolate for the full 7 days here.
Apart from COVID, we are now entering flu season as we come towards winter and quite a few cases about. I’m still wearing a mask when out and about for resistance to Covid but also flu. Hope it passes fast for you too!๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿงธ

@5413.5 you are doing so well, especially with the added exercise! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ† Go girl! Luv the salad and veg!

@northgeorgia hope the FD went well yesterday without any distractions from the main game! Now today, concentrate on your NFD and make it work for you … NFDs are the ๐Ÿ”‘!

@snowflake56.. two in a row? ….. and with a partner in crime to share the FUN! Good for you! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ†

    Day 28, FD, Aus

Yes, this WILL be a LFD!! Feeling in the groove and mojo is bouncing.

Hang in there @northgeorgia. I know it’s disparaging but I also know that YOU can do this!! Look how far you’ve come already.

Cross fingers @stitchincarol that a. you avoid the Spicy Cough and b. (more importantly?) your Hymn Extravaganza still goes ahead. (Hymn Fest doesn’t sound grand enough to me.)

Day 18 country west Australia NFD
Back again ! After a lot of technological difficulties I think I am up and running again as I have not had a phone for a while.
Been keeping on track but on a plateau.
    Go well all.

Day 17 Ohio, US — NFD
    Day 16 — NFD

Had a routine procedure done yesterday. It was a lot more invasive than I thought it would be. The recovery period will continue for the rest of this week, so I won’t be able to fast during this time. Although to tell you the truth, I’m not all that hungry, so perhaps it all balances out. By the way, all of these visits to doctors is the result of my putting matters off until after the major part of the pandemic passed. This was the last one, so with any luck, no more for at least the whole summer!

@babs_b It’s great that you both are doing this together! The mutual support can be a wonderful motivator!

@lilymartin Hope you shake all those after effects of Covid! With any luck you’ll be up to snuff in a jif!

@snowflake56 I don’t keep any pre-made sweets in the house, although there are sweeteners. That way if I feel the temptation I either have to drive to a store or make something up from scratch. Both of which are major deterrents.

@linda.b Good show on holding the course on the FD! And a public holiday at that!

I only just realized that when I clicked on the most recent page for today’s updates from everyone, the website sent me to a random previous page. So if my responses above don’t make sense, you might have to do some time travel to get sense out of them. Sorry about that!

    Day 18, Germany, FD

Yesterday’s FD went well so we’re doing another one today.

@linda.b When I’m in fasting mode, I can do a row of FDs, I’m a sprinter, not a long distance runner. I did the egg fast twice with a few others on here (with @daffodil2010, @northerndawn, @missybear and @basyjames, as I remember this well), the results were mixed. Some lost a few kilos, some hardly anything. I like eggs so I had 4 eggs daily with cheese, mayonnaise and butter. It was not hard to do but the first time it gave me headaches and my BP went up so I had to stop after 3 days. The second time I did it for 5 days and everything was fine. I lost 3.8 kg but I think this was the result of the loss of water and a very empty gut. I don’t think you can lose much fat in only 5 days.

@stitchincarol Oh no! What a pity after such a lovely weekend. I hope you and your DH get negative results and your family members that already have it won’t have too much symptoms.

@mariaelena What do you eat on your FDs? I don’t digest raw vegetables very well, so don’t eat salads. I go more by the fit of my clothes then by the scales. My weight can differ up to 4 lbs from one day to another but this doesn’t say much. It’s mostly water as I can’t gain 4 lbs of fat in one day. I have a few things I want to fit in comfortably, when they fit, I’m fine.

@matpi I missed your posts and thought about you this morning. I hope your medical issues are sorted now. We also postponed our check ups, for a few check ups it wasn’t possible to make an appointment due to the medical staff having Covid. We once had a rule in our house to only eat home made sweets, it worked well. As soon as I start buying sweets, the brakes are off. I don’t even know why I buy sweets, they mostly don’t taste as good as I thought they would.

@penz I’m joining you today on the pocket list.

    Day 18 UK NFD

Oh @stitchincarol, hoping for the best ๐Ÿคž

Hang in there @northgeorgia Our bodies do weird things , youโ€™ve achieved so much , Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll be back on track soon

    Day 18 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – NFD

@northgeorgia – ditto what @penz said – you’ve come so far already, so don’t beat yourself up. Like most of us you’re struggling a bit with the NFDs. So sooner or later you’ll figure out the best way to reach your goal ๐ŸŽฏ

@mariaelena – allergic to eggs?! I would hate that, I eat them almost every day. I’m not sure whether that’s healthy; the debate seems to go on about how much they affect cholesterol. But I do enjoy them, usually at lunch time.

@linda.b – re the egg fast, the couple of times I’ve done it I didn’t follow the rules to the letter; e.g. ‘have an egg meal within 30 minutes of waking up’ – not going to happen! I just had my usual two meals at the usual times, but had eggs & cheese. But it’s so filling, no hunger at all. And I probably only had 4 eggs per day sometimes. So yes, it works, but I always felt a bit out of sorts after 3 or 4 days & I agree with @snowflake56, that the results are mainly due to water loss.

@songbirdme – I’m sure the last thing I ironed was a dress shirt around 5 years ago for some formal occasion. Now I’m retired I seems to live in shorts/jeans & T shirts; but my iron/ironing board are always on standby just in case. I guess I inherited my dislike of ironing from my mum. She despised it, & as soon as she could afford to, she paid someone to come around once per week to plough through it all.

@stitchincarol – keeping everything ๐Ÿคž that you & DH remain testing negative ๐Ÿค—

    Happy Hump Day! ๐Ÿซ

    Day 18 ๐ŸคฉUK
    Down to 90.25
    Good morning wonderful people
Hope you are ok if Covid-19 affected
And that the Scottish trip is going well.
And you have a good positive day

    Day 18 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 215 lbs. Gotta be patient with myself the next couple of weeks…

Day 18 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

Thanks, everyone, for the commiserations and well-wishes. DH and I both tested negative yesterday morning, and will test again this morning. We both feel crappy enough for it to be Covid, but I’m still hopeful it’s “merely” a cold for each of us. It’s certainly a bad cold for each of us, and I’m also suffering from laryngitis…fun days, LOL.

We had deviled eggs for lunch yesterday, as I had some hard boiled eggs on hand, and was toying with doing the egg diet…and then decided what everyone said in their posts today: I’d be losing mainly water weight, so what would be the point? Yes, it would put me in ketosis, but as I don’t intend to eat keto in order to stay there, that wouldn’t accomplish anything. So then I made dirty rice for supper, and added peas to it. A carb-heavy recipe, but yummy, and didn’t overeat, so that’s lovely.

On the way home on Monday, DH and I talked about what we plan to do for our weight loss goals and agreed that portion control is the hugest thing for us. Thankfully, the colds (covid?) we’re experiencing has eliminated most of our appetite, so for two days now, we’ve eaten reasonably. Now to continue to do so even when we begin to feel better…

    Talk tomorrow!

    Day 18 – FD 800

All on track here. A bit sore from the weight training restart is all.

@snowflake56 My typical fast day is a soup or stew (usually homemade and frozen, but there is one frozen soup available commercially whose ingredients are not that bad and has no added sugar that occasionally sneaks in.) plus a bag of frozen veggies- roasted in a moderate amount of avocado oil. If Iโ€™m still hungry or especially worried about my protein I may have a serving of nuts or some bone broth as well. That is roughly 650 to 850 calories I estimate. Salads I usually reserve for non fast days, as my favourite salad is loaded with a lot more than fresh veg (feta cheese, almond slices, walnut pieces, pepitas, and chicken or pepperoniโ€ฆ.) and I donโ€™t go lightly in the homemade vinegar and oil dressing. I do the eat like a bear salad proud. ๐Ÿ˜€. As Iโ€™m more or less in maintenance, Iโ€™m with you on not obsessing on the scale, it is info, but so is the fit of clothing.

@funshipfreddie yep, allergic to eggs. Not as bad as my fatherโ€™s allergy, he really canโ€™t have eggs even as an ingredient – but my mom noticed my response to eggs when I was quite young and my father didnโ€™t realize the cause of his problems until he was an adult, so he had far more eggs in his life than Iโ€™ve ever been exposed to. This was also around the time eggs were demonized, so mom pretty much cooked egg free except for occasional deserts. Papa and I have never been big desert people, and she would make sure something else was available for us, so we didnโ€™t feel deprived. My DH loves eggs, but I have to clear out of the kitchen because even the smell can leave me feeling ill. (Psychosomatic?)

A big hello to all the holiday travelers on the board – Enjoy!!!

@matpi Like you, we donโ€™t keep treats (sweets and in my case potato chips, pretzels and the like) in the house. It makes a huge difference!

A funny thing happened last night. My DH was watching a favourite science YouTuber about longevity research. Topics like autophagy, mTOR and fasting came up and he was astounded that I knew so much about these topics. Lol. He is a dear, but I know he needs to be introduced to these topics by some one other than myself before he will take them seriously. He had a lot of questions and exhibited a good amount of respect for the research I have done. My journey that started with weight loss has moved into a lot of health and nutritional research and we agree it is paying off for me. Iโ€™m hoping heโ€™ll take in some of it, and get a more health focused attitude too.

A beautiful but too warm day awaits me, so Iโ€™m gonna get to it!

    Day 18 – UK – NFD

Having a fab time in Scotland – managing to fit in some hiking daily and lots of exploring the surrounding area but definitely no fasting, although I am trying to stay mindful….

@brightonbelle โ€“ welcome back from Dubrovnik and a big plus that the scales didnโ€™t move!
@i-hate-lettuce – I suspect I’m staying not too far from where you previously stayed!!! and yes we don’t meet many people when out hiking – yesterday we went to explore around Aberfeldy and did an extended walk through wild garlic up to the waterfalls and back a couple of hours later just in time for a lovely late lunch sitting outside in the sunshine…..
@funshipfreddie – I’m with you in that life is just too short for ironing…..๐Ÿคฃ
@northgeorgia – no embarrassment, we have all been there – just take a moment to reflect and restart your basic 5:2 but keeping an eye on your NFDs – You can do this!!
@stitchincarol – ๐ŸคžCovid does not cause too much havoc with your family and your plans
@songbirdme – something lovely about getting organised for a holiday…
@lilymartin – lovely to see you back again – we had missed you
@rosie-sullivan1 – I have family living in the areas you recently visited – Gippsland Vic – Lakes Entrance, Metung -Bairnsdale – especially fond memories of family holidays in Lakes Entrance
@jaifaim – enjoy Lyon and Strasbourg
@5413.5 – having a fab time in Scotland – A visit to Blair Atholl today – built about the confluence of the Rivers Tilt and Garry in one of the few areas of flat land in the midst of the Grampian Mountains
We did the Glen Tilt circuit which explores both sides of Glen Tilt, regarded as one of Scotlandโ€™s most beautiful glens

Looking forward to heading back home on Saturday and getting back to fasting!

    Day 19, NFD, Aus

[Not sure how I posted day 28 yesterday; finger must have slipped off that 1 key.]

What is it about some FDs that are so easy? Yesterdayโ€™s was a breeze and I didnโ€™t even feel the slightest niggle of hunger all day. I even made OH dinner โ€“ and he later offered me chocolate – and wasnโ€™t tempted to nibble at all. Itโ€™s not even PFDS โ€“ itโ€™s more like post-FD-basking-in-the-glow! How did you go @snowflake56?

Wow, @jaifaim, very impressed youโ€™re posting while on holiday.

@mariaelena – isnโ€™t it frustrating when a dear one doesnโ€™t listen to you but as soon as a stranger says the same thing, then suddenly it must be true and good advice!

Hope the sun is still shining for you @linda_b.

Iโ€™m working from home today (did I tell you Iโ€™m enjoying my new job!) which is always fun, but my young pup has already stolen the door jamb, a sock and a shoe. Sheโ€™s such an attention seeker. Well, I better be a good employee and get back to work!

    Day 19 โ€“ Thursdayโ€“ Gold Coast, Queensland Australia โ€“ FUN DAY (FD)๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””

Good morning all…. I’m ringing the bells! The scales dropped…. yaay! It’s not my weigh day but I’m taking it for now anyway! Only slid down a little but, the point is, the plateau is breached๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜Š. The excitement will motivate me all day on today’s FUN DAY ๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ”” and keep me on track for the busy weekend ahead!

It is a joy to read all the holidaymakers’posts. We live vicariously through them๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ.. the fun and beautiful places you go….. takes us all there for a daydream ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ keep posting from wherever you are!

@rosie Sullivan1 & @lilymartin…. so good to have you both back. Our little Aussie contingent continues to grow.๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ˜

@stitchincarol …. looks like you just may have ‘dodged’the dreaded lurgy this time, even though a cold is nothing to be sneezed (that’s a pun!๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค)! So good too to have your DH on your side to share the fun of FDs & NFDs (and a cold ๐Ÿคฃ).

@mariaelena … It really is an educational journey alongside our intermittent fasting journey. As you say, it’s not just about the weight per se but the health benefits of having your body at optimum fitness and weight. We learn so much about the science of it as we go along. So good that your DH is hearing this message too๐Ÿ˜Š and being your wingman at your side!

@funshipfreddie…. thought about the egg fast and decided to keep it in my back pocket for an emergency eg an event, a dress and a dire need to quickly lose pounds to fit it (it’s a girly thing!). In the meantime I know, for me, my veg and protein regime gives me the nutrition I need albeit with the occasional stubborn plateau as I get closer to my goal. Just need more exercise!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿฅด

So happy days here and so glad to be in such great company

    Day 19 โ€“ Thursdayโ€“ Gold Coast, Queensland Australia โ€“ FUN DAY (FD)๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ”” – 2nd post

    Forgot to start the pocketlist.

@penz…. we cross-posted again. The sun did shine yesterday….. and we had a moon and stars last night…..first time in weeks and weeks and had forgotten what they looked like!
Woke this morning to clouds, drizzle and the forecast for heavy rain on the way and delightfully a little cooler, not much cooler but better than the last few weeks. Pity.
I’m going to an outdoor wedding on Sunday afternoon which looks like it will be going to Plan B ie inside somewhere. Feel sad for the Bride as the weather is the one thing you just can’t predict months out from the wedding. One would have thought that a Sunday in May should be a most beautiful sunny day… but as we get closer it’s not looking how it will be. ๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒ‚โ˜‚

You have a puppy! ๐Ÿ˜ That will be great company out walking๐Ÿคฉ

Day 18 Ohio, US — NFD

Just checking in. This has been a low energy day and I will probably go to bed early. Amazingly enough, I’ve eaten a little bit less than usual. Perhaps it’s the water: as part of recovery, for the first three days I’m to drink one glass of water per hour. About twice as much as I usually take.

    Day 19, Germany, FD800

    After 3 days of FD500, I’m going for 2 days of FD800.

@penz My FD went well. I don’t know either, why FDs are a struggle one day and on other days it’s just a breeze. With me, it could be my mindset, when I’m half heartedly starting it, it’s not going to happen. How lovely to have a door jamb, a sock and a shoe stealing puppy in the house!

@mariaelena Apart from bone broth when I’m cold, I hardly ever eat soups in spring/summer. What a pity, you’re allergic to eggs, they are so good to eat on FDs. For some people it helps, hearing about fasting from different sources. Perhaps your DH now has a better understanding of what you’re aiming for and joins in.

@linda.b Yay, finally a weight drop!

@northgeorgia Don’t despair, you’ll get back on track. You know how to do it. I saw on the spreadsheet, you’re fasting today so I added you to the pocket list. For me, having company makes FDS easier.

@at and @jaifaim How lovely to read about your holidays!

Day 19 – Ballater and Royal Deeside – FD

    Good morning everyone

FD today and a long walk round an area of Royal Deeside planned, beautiful walking weather, the light is so good, the air as clean and clear as you can get. Our special walk planned for yesterday has been swapped to tomorrow, very windy day yesterday so went to the coast, Findhorn Bay, which was incredible!

Looking at the fitbit App is quite amusing, the number of steps covered each day and calories burned, think maintaining my weight is going to be quite easy! The only problem with FD’s and our holiday is the rucksac is quite heavy, not with food …. but water ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Take care all

    Day 19 UK FD

Yes @snowflake56 the mindset, how complicated we humans are , caught a very unflattering view of my self yesterday and instead Iโ€™d spurring me on to eat less had the complete opposite and spent a day mindlessly snacking Back on the right track and fasting today but it is making me rethink as what Iโ€™m currently doing doesnโ€™t seem to be working
