PS Scotland next year would be brilliant xxxxxxx

Just booked hostel (YHA) in York for £30 on booking.com and there are some beds left if you’re quick. It’s a dormitory though so if you don’t fancy sharing it’ll not be for you.

I am so jealous of your proximity for meeting! Wish I could join you!

Sorry ply24mp. It would be good to meet you. We think alike on at least one subject!

    Lizzypb

thanks……… it really inspireable word which will help me

    Jojo

What’s the FB page called? I’m a bit of a beginner with FB. I can see a Twitter link on here…

    Lizzypb

I’m so exhausted today, simply not enough calories.basically trying too hard. I need to listen to what body is telling me . Sleep.
Havent read what’s current, but wanted to speak to Emil .

Your advisor is spot on. And ask that person about 4:3 for weight loss. Or if has knowledge of TDEE.
And please familiarize yourself with this sites TDEE calculations.

Not everyone can fast , or should I say be tolerant of fasting long term for weight loss. In the beginning it much more important to learn what works and what doesn’t. Rather than If the scales are moving.

There are only three proven methods to increase longevity, walking, fasting, and healthy diet.
There are many ways to lose fat, but the common denominator is the calorie intake vs calories used.
Micheals books work, just as many other diet books work. IMO the fasting approach works for those whom exercise or are sedentary not many diets can claim that. I’ve lost over 50, but I still a lot to lose. It’s not all been fasting. For me it’s been learning to adapt fasting to my changing schedules. I still lose 2-4 lbs a month. While 3 squares at least 4 days a week . I never feel like I’m on a starvation marathon.

By being on this forum I picked up the insight to eat food. The protein shakes and meal replacements. Don’t seem to satisfy over extended periods for me. But I use them to keep from binging if I fail a fast day . So learning to two small fasting meals on fast day, and 3 TDEE or below on feed days has served me well.

    Best wishes.

    Hi Linds
I’m glad you had such a memorable visit to Sydney. We try to please. I’ve lived and travelled all over the world but always love coming back to Sydney.

Gosh FTs…so jealous re the York trip. We’ll be in the UK next year so….who knows? 😉 P

thnx……… it`s really good for health

    Hi All,
Great programme by Michael, he has a website BBC.co.UK.trust me which gives details if you couldn’t see the programme.

Ply – I will be sad that you are not in York because you , SAMM and I have been on this thread together since it started. How is your fasting going? Are you on the Facebook site? Maybe I could post a picture?

I shall be thinking of you both. Maybe you need to gather a few local colleagues to meet up. There seem to be a large number from Australia throughout the threads. I guess the problem is the size of your islands compared to the UK.

I seem to have a real surge of motivation at the moment, it is definitely linked to my obsession with working on my family tree. I had the same thing when I was doing some satin stitch work for a friends birthday. Maybe you need to start that dolls house project?

Yet, getting old is a natural process where things are slowing down, and you’ll begin to see that the sparkle in your heart and the twinkle in your eyes make you beautiful in a way that’s not achievable in youth.

Go through this list of growing old quotes. Many of them are light-hearted, some are funny and a few are inspiring.

May you retain the beauty of your soul with these aging quotes!

    — Scott Adams

Hi all, just a quickie – I haven’t had chance to do much looking at accommodation for York but will try and book something when I get home tomorrow. I definitely want to be there! Samm – great quotes!

    Smiffy x

Thanks Jojo I will find the BBC programme tomorrow .

SAMM I am old but I don’t feel old . I am young at heart and laugh a lot and I think both keep me young ( if only in mind). I look in the mirror and this wee auld woman stands in front of me …so I never get a proper look at myself wink. wink . Age is just a number .

I am on the facebook group .

    Wee xx

Happy fast day people I think that would be the majority on here on the Mon & Thurs regime. This will close out my fourth day B2B and I am looking forward to getting home tomorrow and I have enjoyed the challenge..
On Monday night on Australian TV on the ABC a Documentary it was called ‘Fat Chance’ I watched it live and I put in the link for your all your viewing pleasure

it does run for 46min however…Inspiration is a mere click of your mouse away fast trackers..Enjoy
    Peace
    RT

    Thanks RT and Samm
Have a good fast Thursday folk. P 🙂

    Hi jojo and Yorkies,

Thanks for the coach suggestion, jojo. It would be very good from the fast point of view. I feel so sick on coaches I wouldn’t want to eat for the next 24 hours. And I wouldn’t be much fun either.

I’m happy to do there and back by train on the Saturday. I’ll book sooner rather than later if you give me some idea of timings.

Cathyork posted recently. She’s from Manchester but York is a favourite place of hers.

Forgot to mention I’m on Facebook just as me. Could someone tell me how to connect with the 5:2 FB group? Thanks.

More great quotes, SAMM. I’m a sucker for quotes from Groucho and Woody Allen. Anouk Aimee was one of the women I wanted to be when I was young. Another was Juliette Greco. She’s now 83, still singing in the same lovely sexy way and looking pretty good, too.

    Good morning fast trackers.

Another very cold cloudy day, by Australian standards anyway. 😉 It was supposed to be 24 today but I don’t think it will make it, being 1120hrs now.

SAMM, thanks for more great quotes.

Weemam, I don’t remember congratulating you earlier on your 2st loss – apologies. Such fun trying on ‘new’ old clothes previously grown out of.

Emel, don’t think it registered before that you’re also from SA, like Aussie Oma and me.

Despite a few weeks of being quite undisciplined on non-FDs the scales showed a new low this morning, another 0.4kg and 1cm from my waist up in smoke. Mon-Wed pretty good with about 2,400C total for the 3 days, including 2 FDs. MUST NOT EAT BETWEEN MEALS – apologies for cyber-shouting but need to speak very firmly to myself to get good results like all you excellent examples. 🙂

Keep up the good work all. N

Good morning also to Hermaj and Rouge Trader, apologies for not including before.

Well done RT on your self-discipline.

I need to flex that muscle more so it gets stronger.

PT at weights last night said he’d try to find out where it was located and devise some exercises for it 🙂

    Morning all.
It is a lovely sunny morning with a bright blue sky. I hope it stays that way 🙂

Nicky, I’ve put a swimsuit photo of my slender 30 year old self on the fridge door, and if I go to the fridge it’s at eye level so I can’t miss it. It has made a difference, because when I’ve been tempted to snack I’ve looked at it and either got the sparkling water or a carrot rather than anything that would spoil my eating plan.

FD today. Things went a bit awry yesterday evening and I ate more than intended, but I didn’t exceed my TDEE so it isn’t all bad. I’ll have to do some extra exercise today to make up for it.

    Have a good day/evening everyone.

    Good Morning Fastrackers,
Well it’s a new low for me on the scales but only by 1/4 pound, I was hoping for more after fasting yesterday but maybe it will come off tomorrow. I really want to get to the next stone barrier before my holiday but it may be unrealistic as it’s very soon and I have 6 lbs to go. But I am on ADF so who knows?

My son sent me this u tube link to watch. It’s a very romantic advert for Chanel, totally unrealistic much like the ‘milk tray’ advert we had in the uk, however this time the woman has the athletic skill. See what you think? The song is great too
fragrance-beauty@uk-edm.chanel.com, personally I thought it was a great start to the day and a bloody good advert.

Happy Thursday people, sunny but cold here, time for a walk, dogs whining.

Good morning Jojo, Lizzie, Hermaj and anyone else joining the foray to York. I’ve managed to book a guest house close to the city centre for 2 nights so I’m in!

I enjoyed Michael’s programme last night – a real eye opener from the sun and pasta point if view!

    ‘Speak’ later

    Smiffy x

    Hi Smiffy,

The programme was very thought provoking. I was thinking about a generation of children who don’t go outside but sit in their rooms glued to a TV/computer/tablet/phone who are usually driven to and from school, and rarely walk anywhere. It’s not just vitamin D deficiency that needs to be worried about!
Did anyone else notice that the two people from the office who were most at risk were the most overweight in the group? Was that just a coincidence or are they both couch potatoes with poor diets?
The fat discussion was very interesting. The Norwegian expert wasn’t very convincing other than saying he disagreed with everything that had been said in favour of dietary fat, he had nothing to offer. He said he wanted to see the evidence despite the fact that the report that concluded that some types of dietary fat are not harmful, was a compilation of a number of studies.
As for the pasta experiment, re-heated leftovers anyone?

    Hi jojo and Yorkies,

I’ll have another crack at finding accomodation in York. However, if I fail, I reckon I can still stick around for 8-9 hours, i.e. late morning to mid-evening. By which time you might be glad to see the back of me. 🙂

Would you be interested in joining the party, Amazon?

    weemam,

We would love to have met you but it’s completely understandable that you can’t make it.

If it’s any consolation, as I think we’ve already discussed I’m going to be in Glasgow for a few days doing research for a book on the Glasgow Tenement House sometime in the spring or early summer. Stirling is dead easy to reach by train from there, so I could pop round. 🙂

Hermaj, I would love to join you all but I’ll be in Cuba, so it’ll have to wait until springtime in Bonnie Scotland!

I’d forgotten about your trip to Cuba, Amazon. You must be very excited. Is this your first visit to Latin America?

Hi all, well woke up early again and was tired as I drove to work but something happened and i felt energised by the afternoon. I am cold so that must be part of the process. Tomorrow a fast day so hoping by Saturday the scales will have moved. Mm a protein drink may be a strategy. Well am tired now so best retire. One week almost completed! Emel

I’ve been to Costa Rica and Venezuela. Cuba will be a completely different experience altogether. It is quite a relaxed trip and different from my usual adventures. I shall empty the wardrobe in a couple of weeks time and see what fits both me and the trip!
Talking of which I have two pairs of jeans both of which are now getting too big. I bought a belt thinking it would save me buying more jeans that will (hopefully) be too big in 6 months time, but wearing it makes the jeans look dreadful. I was looking for something in the wardrobe this morning and found yet another pair of unworn jeans in a size 14. They fit perfectly 🙂 🙂 🙂

Swans off to Kew with a smug grin on her face……………….

Hi emel. Well done for sticking with it. In a couple of weeks it’ll all be much easier as you learn what works best for you, and the scales and/or measurements will give you encouragement to continue.

Isn’t it great when things that were too small are now a perfect fit. 🙂 Especially when they are unworn.

    Hi All,
They got me a room in York, only £15.00 single supplement which is great. The timings of the trip are not confirmed yet but likely to be Harrogate on 29 th and York on 30 th I guess 10 ish, I assume it will leave York mid to late afternoon. I could make my way from Harrogate to York on the 29th I guess. So who is coming? Can’t wait, really good start to Christmas run up.
Now some really good news, I have just got into size 14 trousers and they fit comfortably. I bought them from a Charity shop, new label still attached and fabulous quality. The legs are about 10 inches too long and someone had undone the seems to shorten them. Obviously they gave up on the chore. I am wearing an M and S pair today size 18 which also fit well, plus I have other makes size 16 which fit. What do you do? Anyway I am over the moon. Like Weemam I haven’t wore size 14 for 30 years, pre children. Happy, happy, happy.
Life is really looking up and the sun is shining, what more could you want!
    Jojo xx

Hermajtomomi, have you tried B & B, if not why not try Harrogate Sat night, I will sneak you on the coach to York?

Sorry hermajtomomi, forgot you get travel sick, perhaps you could run along behind the coach. Only joking, maybe we could both get a train.

Has anyone tried Dr Schar bread, it is gluten and wheat free whole meal sour dough. 69 cals per slice, you would need two, pretty small. Lovely although 11grams carb per slice, great with soup when you have guests, not everyone like breadsticks like me.

    Love Jojo
That’s three of us in size 14 now then Amazon, great isn’t it

Did anyone watch the Chanel advert, seriously, it’s cheesy but in a good way

Yeah its possible.but do you take any medicine? if you take medicine what is it?

Jojo, that isn’t a link, it appears to be an e-mail address.

If it is the one with the surfer, here is the link

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8asRWe5XNw8

And yes, it is cheesy but good 🙂

I am thrilled at being able to wear a size 14 again. I’ve also been wearing a sleeveless fleece that I bought in India in January last year. It was much too small when I bought it but I can zip it up now. I want to go and search the chest of drawers and the wardrobe now to see if I can find anything else!

I have sushi and a Vietnamese prawn crystal roll for dinner, and after all the exercise I’ve done today I’m really looking forward to it.
I have atoned for the bottle of cider I drank last night 😆

Love the ad, Jojo. We love Gisele around here, as she is married to our hometown hero quarterback, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots!

Huge congrats on your new pants size! So gratifying when it happens!

Fasting is very good this week. I had allowed a few pounds to creep on, but after one true and a couple of semi-fasts this week, I have dropped the offending 3.6 pounds, and am back to my usual nine pounds left to lose. i am feeling on track, but lately I am easily knocked off.

Let me know the name of the FB group so I can enviously follow your plans!

Hi ply. The good thing about this WOE is that it doesn’t take long to get back on track. I’ve been so motivated for the past nine weeks and I nearly lost it yesterday, but the smaller jeans and a holiday in less than 5 weeks have helped me through my FD today. I’m doing ADF at the moment and am hoping to continue with it until the holiday.
I wish I had only 9 pounds left to lose, but I’ll get there eventually. I’m aiming to be at goal or thereabouts by next Easter.

Am I the only one who doesn’t do FB? 🙁

Jojo, I forgot to say well done on the size 14. It’ll be a 12 soon 🙂

So true, Amazon! Part of my problem is that I am liking the way I look now, so there is less incentive to lose those last few.

Hiya all, cold again here today bonnie Scotland .

Herm I would love to meet you so yes please come . It’s just a hop skip and a jump from Glasgow to here .

Amazon it is brilliant finding things never worn because they were bought ( to slim into),

You are all doing so well.:) 🙂 :). isn’t it great that we all support each other :).

When I went into dads place today the head nurse asked if I was loosing weight . I said 2 stone and thank you so much for noticing :). She said she couldn’t help but notice as the weight was just falling off me . so we now have 3 of the staff going on the 5.2 lol.

I am just saying have a great day everyone and so sorry that I can’t remember all of the names .

As I read all the posts I know who you are but I have never been good with names . I even called Ross shep one day lol I am on FB but I only talk about my weight loss in the private messaging . But please feel free to add me if you want /
    ..

    I enjoyed the link xx

    Wee xx

    Hi Purple,

I meant to get back to you yesterday about potential misbehaviour at Buck House. 😉 The prevous evening we saw a clip of Charles visiting somewhere in Polynesia and giving a speech in Pidjin English, which I believe is the majority language in that part of the world. Poor chap is not much good at languages and made a real pig’s ear of it.

Even worse, though, was the uniform, from God knows where, representing God knows what, that he was dolled up in. There are still jokes circulating about Prince Harry showing up at a fancy dress do wearing Nazi uniform, but his old man is just as bad. He looked like a right-wing dictator in a dark green uniform smothered in cord, gold bits, ribbons, medals, etc. He looked more like Gadafi or Pinochet than the heir to the throne.

I used to quite like old Charlie but he seems to going more and more bonkers with each passing year. Or perhaps to be fair to him, he’s surrounded himself with a bunch of advisors who are completely out-to-lunch.

Quick post for jojo et al before I go out,

I think I may have solved the accomodation problem. I went on to airb&b, who we’ve booked apartments with several times. This time I looked for a private room – just for a night I guess I can bear sharing a bathroom (spoilt little madam that I am). There are several nice ones close to the city centre – or no more than a short bus ride away – for £36 or thereabouts. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have everything sorted. 🙂

wee – you never know, there may be others who would like to travel up to Scotland to see you. 🙂 Sorry if you are feeling the cold. Would you believe I have twice been up to Glasgow for a few days and come home with a suntan! Scottish weather, it seems, isn’t always as bad as it’s cracked up to be. 🙂

JoJo58 I would love to join you but I’m not sure I can keep up with all the posts!

I do, however, read the thread all the time as I can relate to so much on it and am encouraged by the support you all give each other.

To be brief I’ve lost about 26lb in the last 12 months. I started 5:2 to lose weight but also because I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic (tests imminent to prove I’m not now). I’m currently 11stone 3.4lbs but, before my trip to Australia had got down to 11st 0.4lb (the 0.4lbs have to be said!)I am trying to be extra good up to Christmas as I would love to get to 10stone 7lb by then but I’ve already indulged in chocolates and a piece of cream cake this week when I should have been fasting! Like someone said I think I have got a bit complacent because I like the way I look now but I know I need to lose more so need to carry on – need to get rid of the belly fat! Plus, I don’t want to the weight to start creeping up again although I know I can do something about it now.

It’s still hard for me sometimes to resist the stuff I know I shouldn’t have and it’s weird how sometimes I can and sometimes I can’t. What I have learnt on the WOE is that I won’t die if I don’t eat for a while and that it’s ok to have an “off day” or an “off week” as long as you pick yourself up and carry on. I am also more aware of what I’m eating and portion sizes but I still need willpower sometimes!

It certainly is a good feeling when you have to get new clothes and I have got rid of a lot of mine as I am determined that I won’t be needing them again. I will be 60 next March and my goal is one of those body con type dresses – as long as I don’t look like Mutton dressed as Lamb!

I think I’ve said enough for now – don’t want to repeat what others have said but thanks for reading anyway. Linda

    Hermaj
You made a comment to PVE, but I cannot let it go uncommented.
Let me correct you about your comment about ‘Pidgin English’. This is a colonial term and incorrect. The language is not the same over ‘ our part of the world’. The Pacific is divided into several parts. In Polynesia they speak Polynesian which is similar in Hawaii, Easter Is and NZ. In Melanesia there are over 1000 languages, there is a lingua franca in some parts. But the language differs according to whether you are in PNG, Solomons or Vanuatu or other parts I don’t know. It is called Neo-Melanesian and is not English. In Vanuatu, the language is called Bislama(from Bêche de mer=sea cucumber).
I would be surprised that Charles can speak this maligned language. It’s tricky as it has only two prepositions ‘long’ and ‘belong’ and a grammar which is not English.
The Australian Aborigines have 360 languages.
Maybe in New Caledonia there is a Creole based on French, but I don’t know that.
I don’t speak Neo-Melanesian in spite of 3 years exposure.
I hope this clears up your misinformation about Pidgin English.
    KiwiWiwi

also, @jojo, I am one of your American cousins, not Australian!

    Hi all,
Just finished making a vat of vegetarian spaghetti bolognaise with some very unusual ingredients but light on the pasta. It has chickpeas, cannoli beans, quinoa and pearl barley. Come chilli, garlic and homegrown tomatoes plus lots of spices. Bloody lovely. Now need to package it all up and freeze it cos according to Michael last night it will then be much healthier. Who knew? Can’t resist a bowl first though to hell with sugar levels, I am only human.

Just booked a trip to Cork, Kilkenny and Waterford, last minute deal. Great value £219.99 coach, hotel and half board. Can’t wait as many of my relative originate from Waterford and Tipperary.

Just taking a break from the Ancestry tracing to do some needlework. Taking in and up of lots of clothes. I think I have enough alterations to last me three days.

Ply, I knew you were having problems, but I also know you will deal with it. Maybe it is time to reset your goal and maintain 6:1. If I feel like you I will certainly do the same, especially as you seem happy with you size. I haven’t sorted out Facebook yet as there appears to be lots of sites. It may be easier to set up a new Facebook account under a nickname and go from there. I will track back to see if I can find a link first, I am sure someone mentioned it in the past. If you are out there please save me the time and post the link again.

Weemam, you are not alone, I have called my daughter by my dogs name in the past, don’t worry about it.

Sorry about the mix up on the u tube address, not great with technology. Glad you enjoyed the video. Makes me a bit sad there is no love in my life though, but there is no aggro either, you can’t have your cake and eat it, especially if you are fasting.

Admelmilton – sorry but I do not understand your comment, is it posted on the wrong thread?

Keep posting those success stories guys.
Glad to have you on board ADF Amazon.

    Thankyou all for being there.
    Jojo xx

I am sooo disappointed that I’ll be away for York, but I’ll be there is spirit, and will move mountains to be in Glasgow in the spring 🙂

Jojo, once again inspired by you, I decided to stop faffing around trying out B2B then single days, and moving them around and stick to something easy. It isn’t difficult to work out that if I’m fasting on Friday then I won’t be doing so next Friday, so it won’t mess up the social calendar.

No love in my life either, but I would rather be single than in an unhappy situation.

The veggie bolognaise sounds delicious. I have so much in the freezer that there is room for no more. However, when I was shopping today I noticed brussel sprouts, and I love them. I have an ancient vegetarian cookbook that has a recipe for chestnuts and sprouts in a lemon sauce. It is a casserole and reheats well. I have some chestnuts in the freezer that have been there for far too long, so I’m going to cook it tomorrow and have it with some chicken, and the remainder can be Saturday’s FD dinner

    Hello JoJo and fast trackers.
Lovely sounding foods, JoJo. You sound like an expert on Vegan food.

We were wondering if after watching MM’s programme last night whether fresh pasta would have a sugar spike, like dried pasta. What is the process of making it. Is it cooked first or just packaged wet?

I had chickpeas today too, with peppers, shallots and garlic- about 500cals. My 6km walk just nicely took my net calorie intake today to 0.

Your York venture sounds great, sorry not to be there. But I saw the Aussies suggesting a nice Pacific island to meet. I have 15K air miles with Emirates/Qantas to use up. A good scheme, PVE, NickyF, Bay.

    Good fasting
