  • Further to my endeavours to experiment with as wide a variety of foods as possible, I made farro and roast vegetables to go with rocket and bbqed ‘roo for our big Sunday lunch today.

I roasted whatever I could find: onions, garlic, chilli, red and green capsicum, zucchini, parsnip, carrot, fennel and cut them into smallish pieces. I soaked the farro for 2 hours, then boiled it for 35 minutes until it was nutty and fully absorbed. I stirred in the veg and added a slurp of basalmic vinegar. I’m freezing half for another day. It isn’t much work, just takes a bit of time, but is healthy, tasty and low gi. P ☺

    Hi Kay,

I was originally aiming for a 19lb loss, but it ended up being nearer 30. 5:2 definitely works 🙂

Regular posters here are friendly, supportive and caring. Sadly every now and then (and on any popular thread on this forum) irregular posters chime in with a bit of discord. But that’s life, eh?!

I’m just lying in bed, putting off getting up. Been awake since 6.30. The only downside of summer is the early light! I just can’t sleep in in the mornings… Roll on the short days of winter 🙂

I never thought I’d hear you say that Happy!!! ☺ I’m very hood at rolling over for another doze once the sun is up. 😀 P

Wow! What a weekend! Nearly bedtime on Sunday and the first opportunity to sit down and catch up with the postings.

My cousin had her student piano recital yesterday, and we help out with this every six months. Then a quick dash home and off to a dinner with Lions and overnighting at the attached hotel. It’s our 45th wedding anniversary today, so that was the celebration. After a three-course breakfast (as you do!) home to find that my aunt was ready to be collected from hospital ??! So that’s been most of the rest of today, feeding the family and lots of admin stuff, I’ll be pleased to go to work tomorrow for a rest – yeah, right!

Glad you enjoyed the Hunt for the Wilderpeople, P, and that it seems to be doing so well in Aus. We loved it, helps to know all the actors and locations, and suspend reality for a while. 🙂

Wee, so pleased your OH is doing so well, and that the sparkle is back. I know you will never by 74 in your head, mine is about 20! Surely ice-cream swimming is good exercise? I now only keep ice-cream in the house for son and step-grandson (my story and I’m sticking to it)

Enjoy Cornwall, Amazon. OH has ancestors from there, farmers not miners.

We used to host the neighbourhood bonfire for Guy Fawkes night, Nama, for all the farmers on the road. We weren’t allowed to have a guy, though, as the farmer next door was Guy! What a silly thing to do in New Zealand, celebrate the attempt to blow up the parliament of a country on the other side of the world, centuries ago. High time we moved to a celebration of our own – Matariki here we come (hopefully in my lifetime 🙁 )

I emptied 75mm from the gauge, and will have another quantity to dispose of by tomorrow. Roll on the lovely long days of summer!

Don’t go, Aine. We are many voices, but one when it comes to support. We are all on the same journey, and all are wonderfully grateful to have found the 5:2 way.

I’m exhausted just reading your social calendar Barata!
Congratulations and happy anniversary to you and Mr B. 1971 was an excellent year to marry, wasn’t it?
I think the film will encourage a few more visitors to lovely NZ. Keep warm ☺P

    Hi PVE,
Afraid I was awake with stomach cramps, guess the meal at the bowls club didn’t agree with me. I only had carrot soup for dinner so unlikely that was the cause. Settled after an hour or so without any drama so had a sleep in today to catch up.

Barata- my daughter celebrated Matariki at her nursery school, all the parents came in barring two, so it was a great turn out. They shared food and conversation, she loved it. Congrats on the wedding anniversary, it was mine too last week, 30 years, but we didn’t celebrate, in fact we were both out separately.

I love light mornings Happy but then it doesn’t keep me awake. I certainly don’t want winter rolling in as we have only just got summer this year, long may it reign.

HealthCB- good to have a night out with the girls reminiscing. Sadly my best and longest known friend is an alcoholic which strains the relationship at times but mostly it’s good.

RT- I won’t even go into my attempt to learn to water ski, embarrassing! But I did get a date with the instructor so not all bad. It was when I was in my prime, age 24, a great time for travel and love. I have always played a sport of some description or been a regular at the gym. Weird really because I have never really been a ‘supporter’ of a team or player like many of the Fasters. I do like to watch tennis and cricket though. I like exercise and I am very competitive. If only I could use this trait when fasting I might work harder at it.

Must get moving dogs to walk and a match this afternoon in Folkestone. Have a warm and relaxing day Fasters All. Keep drinking water, it helps suppress the appetite.

Sorry to hear that Jo. Hope you are ok today. P ☺

    Hello all
I’ve been reading the forum, mulling for a few days now and wondering what I should do as someone who believes in taking responsibility for herself. Kay, please don’t let my sensitivities put you off this forum. This (weight loss and health) is not an issue to be toyed with. Amazon meant well, and I could even see that at the time. However, I’m still raw from life / people / circumstances and find it difficult when I experience the ‘cruel to be kind’ motivational approach.

I can understand it when people become frustrated with ‘irregular posters’ causing discord, but actually, that wasn’t my intention. Happy, you may be right generally speaking, but you’ve definitely misread me. The last thing I’m about is causing conflict and all I wanted to do was to be part of a group like this. It occurred to me that if everyone was very clear, consistent and positive from the off there would be no need for forums and support groups. I’d be surprised if all the seasoned posters here read their early posts and found all their contributions to be logical and following a naturally progressive trajectory. For myself, I struggle with being positive about myself, not because I like it, because its where I’m at ‘now’. Luckily, I get a lot of support from health- related folk and I’m improving in that regard – I accept it as a life journey, like the 5:2.

There is so much kindness and wisdom here it would be a shame if anyone was put off by my experience – everyone has their own understanding and I’m just not ready for this forum yet …… but like Freddie Kruger said, ‘I’ll be back’ (hopefully). Amazon, I just wanted to say thanks for your last message to me. I do understand and you obviously care about how things are for other people. I probably do need your ‘truths’ – I just need to grow a bit of a thicker skin first, though. Thanks also to everyone who took the time to explain the nature of this forum and its lively discussions and who urged me not to leave. However, I’m going to exercise my Diva muscle (just below the Pouty muscle) and flounce off again …… no, I’m not really! I’m planning on reading various forums for a while and eventually joining the one I feel suits my needs best.

Kay, I hope you get what you need here (perhaps I’m still looking for what I want) and good luck with this new way of life.

All the very best to everyone else and once again, thanks for taking the time to share and support me. Time to dig deep and try and understand why I reacted the way I did. Nothing worthwhile has come easy to me though, so it could take a while and much going and froing!

Stay strong peeps 🏋🏽 Aine x

ps I’ve just read this back to myself and can see a quite bit of ‘poor me’ – ugh! I’m going to leave it as it is though, because it’s too easy to wipe it away, yet life’s not like that. I’ll never learn if I ignore those parts of me that are holding me back from contentment. Sorry this is such a long missive and definitely signing off now!

Aine333, no advice offered just HUGS and Best Wishes.

Breaking news- shooting in Florida, my condolences to the families and loved ones of those senselessly killed. Guns are a menace in the hands of ‘sick’ people.

PVE- Fine today although I was not bowling at my best, felt very tired and cold, weather shocking again, rain, fog, wind.

Salmon salad for dinner but having some rhubarb and custard for pudding, feel the need for some comfort food.

The last 3 days it has been late when I got home from the hospital and I have eaten less than 500 each day . Today I was early and tired and my Knee was killing me (RA) with all the walking . I had Ice cream and gateaux .a lot of Ice cream but should be OK . Tomorrow I will be late again . Jim was looking a lot better . They took the oxygen feed thingy from under and into his nose away . His hands and feet are swollen and cold but they said that was OK . They hope to get him into the shower tomorrow and they said that would help the circulation too . Long long walk to the ward BUT worth every step to see that cheeky smile 🙂 .

    Wee xx

Weemam what a great way to start my fast day a snapshot into a long term love story there are not as many these days I can assure you. Cheeky smiles the inner peace of a quiet word or a cup of tea coffee with a chat holding hands bringing the magic over a long period of time so glad that everything is going along well for you guys.

    Peace RT

Lovely start to our holiday fast day. Love is always in the eyes. Long term love is like a warm comfortable hug…life giving. Be good to your loves everyone. P x

awww thanks RT . For us it is the second quote . PVE has met him and knows that cheeky smile and twinkle in the eyes lol . He is my soulmate and my best friend . I miss him so much . OOps getting mushy I will better get to my bed 🙂 xx

Jim indeed has a cheeky twinkle, as does his lovely wife. 😀⭐⭐ Mr P and I are so pleased to hear he is on the mend again. P x

Well I survived Italian day! I couldn’t eat anything as it was all bread based, so while my hubbie and his friends tucked into pizza, canals and donuts I ate nothing! Was difficult with so many nice smells, but just had some veggie chilli for 150 calories so my feast turned into a fast day!

Welcome Kay65. I also yoyo and have tried every silly diet on the market. For me this is the only one that is sustainable as I also want to live and have fun! That includes having a drink and socialising with friends!

    Bad luck Ali 😯
If it wasn’t a fast day (and let’s face it, who would fast on Italian Day? ), you could have a slice of pizza and just eat the topping ☺ I’m fasting today, only 11:15am, and I’m salivating over pizza topping 😢P

    Morning All,
My thoughts are with you wee and Jim, I especially hate those never ending hospital corridors. You always seem to need to get to the furthest point from the entrance. You have a special relationship which has been built on caring and kindness so you both deserve every happiness. Look after yourself Wee, no point you getting sick now.

It’s a dull day here and I have a workman drilling and crashing about in the bathroom, it’s the last day he will be here, thank goodness. Carpet goes down tomorrow.

Seeing Elvis tonight, can’t wait! I hope he is as good as the original.

I feel a lot better today as I had an early night but I am going to get blood tests done as I have been getting very tired lately. Off to play a bowls match soon then I am resting until tonight, don’t want to fall asleep in the theatre.

Ali- is Italian Day a public holiday? Is it only celebrated in Italy? I haven’t heard of it before.

Not fasting today but plan a fast day tomorrow.

    Good Morning,
    Another beautiful day here!
Unfortunately we have this terrible news going on from all sides about this shooting in Orlando. Also we are without good options for our future leader. Very frustrating.
It’s so nice to hear that everything it’s falling in place with The Wee Family 💖.
Today I am meeting a Girlfriend for breakfast and for lunch a young couple are here from Switzerland visiting the Town and most likely will be going out for lunch.

    Talk to you later 😘
    B

Well winter has hit us here in the South East of South Australia yesterday min 2 max 12 the fire has not gone out for 4 weeks 😆 and top up with r/c air con we put on the flannelette sheets yesterday and an extra blanket very cosy last night thank you 😉
    Have a groovy day everyone

Hunger is a state of mind, not a state of stomach.
    Peace RT

RT I think you are still bathing in the warm glow of your teams great win! Very cold nights in Melbourne at present too, lovely sunny days help though.
I need another B2B Mon/Tues fast, to undo the weekends Ricotta and Pumpkin lasagna and Polish Black Cherry cake! Yesterday’s fast was not strict enough! Better keep busy today….

So I shouldn’t mention my warming stuffed mushroom breakfast Nama? 😉
Keep warm southern gang. P 😊

Ooh yum Purple, what do you stuff yours with? I had some with cream cheese and chives on Sunday but I don’t think that would qualify for a fast day!

When I first started 5:2, I used to have a large stuffed mushroom for a meal occasionally. I used to stuff it with chopped stalk, chives, tomato, pepper, parsley, yoghurt and a little ham.
Today, a feed day, I used stalks, creme fraiche, blue cheese, tomato, shallots (scallions), parsley, ham and pepper. I cook the curved side on foil, under the griller, for 5 mins, then turn over, stuff, and under the grill for another 5. I also had a couple of asparagus spears as an accompaniment.☺
I’ve had some pretty random eating/fasting days all week… eating hardly anything on feed days, unintentionally, so was determined to eat a good breakfast on this cold, cold morning. ☺
Ps My weight has been the same all week (low, well within wriggle room) no matter what. 😯 P

Thanks for the ideas Purple, sounds yum!
It seems you have this WOL well and truly licked! That ‘eternal vigilance’ has become second nature to you perhaps?

I think so. I guess I now look much more at the longer view…not just what, how much and how often I eat in one day, but over a week or even more. It HAS taken over 3 years and I don’t think I can ever let my guard down or become complacent. That’s why I’m religious about weighing at least daily. ☺ P

    Hello Everyone,

Isn’t that funny when you think that you think that you know everything butttt, butttt don’t do it 👀
My week has been planned last week (there was always a plan). For my breakfast with my girlfriend, still celebrating my B-day, she was at this very expensive hotel in Town and I am there for breakfast today😍. I had the most expensive egg in my life. Yes! I was in control and that was that.
For lunch another engagement with out of town friends and I had a veggie spinach and a small glass of wine.
For dinner tiny risotto small piece of chicken.
In older times I could probably eat and drink like there’s no tomorrow the whole day.. There’s a plan for tomorrow 😍. Fasting 👍
Looking forward to have a flat and normal weight in my life. Not going 20 lbs up and 15lbs down.

RT – in Brazil where my Mom is and I was once before, we don’t have the same insulation like here and all the chananigans for the winter like the US. Can be cold for her and everybody… Hope it’s a mild “Brazillian winter”.
I love the noise, the smell, the color and the warmth of a fire place.
    Enjoy it 🙏

Tomorrow the surveyor comes! We have a very weird neighbor that for years keep advancing towards our property while we are in Florida.
My husband and I are so exhausted with this silly person so we are paying extra to be in Peace with the surveyor re-staking the property because all the marks disappeared.
    Be good my Folks
    💖
    B

Sounds like you are really enjoying that birthday, Health!!! P ☺

    Morning All,
Well the show last night was amazing. Dinner was quite exotic, grilled prawns and salmon with pepper on a hanging skewer over salad and some potato wedges. It was delicious, photo on Facebook.
I listened in on a conversation of two women at the next table, both seriously overweight, very depressed about their health and energy. Of course they both ordered starter( garlic bread and olives), risotto and pudding followed by latte. Both had said they had hardly eaten a thing all day when they were ordering but as they conversed I heard one mention she had had a fry up for breakfast because she was staying in a hotel and the other say she had stopped for a sandwich, coffee and cake( only) at about 4 pm. We started dinner at 5.30 pm before the show, so I think their weight issues will continue, severely misunderstanding what calories they were consuming.

No loss on the scales for me, but no gain either after three days of social events, thank goodness I was in control, fasting today and Thursday.

Looks like rain today but I am sure my garden pots will love it. Just a ‘roll up’ today, that’s a practise bowls session, pressure off. Playing matches does add tension and excitement but it will be more fun today.

    Have a great day everyone

Good luck with your fasts Jo. Your post reminds us how easy it is to forget what you’ve eaten unless you keep a diary. I find things like a handful of nuts or a little piece of cheese slip through unless I put them down quite soon after eating them, especially if I’m breaking a fast day as I really want to kid myself then! But sometimes when you put it in the tracker it’s not as bad as you think, so last night a couple of teaspoons of nut and seed butter only took me over by 50 cals, while I’d been feeling really bad about my FD being broken.

    Apricot,
Yes I used to forget to count the apple I had at break time in bowls while others were eating biscuits. Now I take my cuppa outside and forget the apple.
We have had heavy showers today, but the garden is loving it.
Good fast day so far, lots of gree tea and sparkling water.

    Hi all,
Sorry I cant mention you all by name, but hope you are all ok.

Week 1 is complete and I have planned week 2. Ive lost 2.5 lbs so happy with that.
Im feeling good in myself and have lots of energy so long may it continue.

Im away from Thurs to Mon, so will fast on both those days, and will be mindful in between without denying myself 🙂

    Have a good day everyone

Kay- very well done, Go Girl- excellent result

I had superfood egg salad for tea, it was really good

    Some reflection
    What is intermittent fasting?
Well to start, here is a simple definition of fasting:
“The act of willingly abstaining from all food, and is some cases drink, for a pre-determined period of time.”
The key word in this definition is “willingly” as it is the difference between fasting and starving.
The other phrase that is super important is “pre-determined period of time”. With a fast you know when it’s going to end.
On a fast day this is my modes operandi with plenty of:
    • Water
    • Black Coffee
    • Black Tea
    • Herbal and green teas
    • Diet Soda (in moderation)
    • Sparkling Water
    • Or any drink that is zero calories.
Jason Fung has much to say about the fast life really excellent articles shamelessly I have scraped this from his blog 😳 here
    https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/fasting-a-history-part-i/
It is well worth getting into the nitty gritty trust me it is illuminating 💡

Also I have been researching Brad Pilon work and in particular the Eat Stop Eat program plenty of Intermittent Fasting happening all around the world now and for some years now it would seem yet somehow it all seemed to pass me by until a Channel 7 Sunday Night program had 5-2 and Dr M on almost 2 years ago and I have been addicted obsessed and intrigued by the whole global modern day phenomenon of the fast life any number of programs are out there including.
    • The 16/8 Method: Also called the Leangains protocol, it involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, for example from 1 pm to 9 pm. Then you “fast” for 16 hours in between.
    • Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
    • The 5:2 Diet: On two non-consecutive days of the week, only eat 500-600 calories. Eat normally the other 5 days. More details here.
    • Alternate-Day Fasting: Fast every other day
    • Alternate-Day fasting means fasting every other day.
    • There are several different versions of this. Some of them allow about 500 calories during the fasting days
The Warrior Diet: Fast during the day, eat a huge meal at night.
    • The Warrior Diet was popularized by fitness expert Ori Hofmekler.
    • It involves eating small amounts of raw fruits and vegetables during the day, then eating one huge meal at night
    • Fast-5 Diet and the Fast -5 Lifestyle 19 hour fast 5 hour eating window

Hope this is of interest please Enjoy!!
Into Day 3 of my planned 4 day fast this week let the good times roll 😉
    Happy Hump Day
“It is easier to avoid eating than to stop eating once started”
    Peace RT

    Well Done RT.
Are you doing this to lose weight or improve health?

Thanks RT. It read like a smorgasbord of fasting styles. Changing approaches can also reduce boredom. ☺
Good luck with your long fast. P ☺

    Hello,

Great resource guide RT! It is really clear to me now. My only little problem is the black coffee. I need a little bit of milk and I wonder if that “breaks the Fast” and start sending insulin to deal with “that” calorie.
    Any thoughts?
Fasting was easy today! Huge single salad meal.

Great news for my husband and I today. We have a crazy neighbor and for years she kept advanced into our property. The markers were gone so we could enforce her.
The surveyors were here to start looking for our boundaries.
We only want peace! That simple 🙏
    Xoxo

Hello one and all, I have not been on this forum basically since my move . Weight actually has remained stable but as I have started fasting again I thought I needed the support of those who so encouraged me in the past. I am the turtle of this group. I will get there , I just need to stick to it. Running late for work so best go!

G’day emel. Hope all is going well.

I know your pain HC. Neighbour disputes are a nightmare.
Theoretically any calories will put you back. Research shows even drinking zero calorie “sodas” will give you a bloodsugar spike, as your taste buds detect sweetness and pump in insulin, in expectation of sugar. It’s a complex business. P ☺

Diet fitness is as essential as exercise itself. Diet for fitness provides the essential nutrition one needs to restore worn-out muscles and for healthy growth. Diet fitness should never be taken for granted. With the popularity of keeping fit, many different views, methods, programs and dieting strategies have been formulated by many professionals. Among these are high carb diets and high fat diets. Whih one is more effective and which one should one choose to follow?

Every diet will work initially, no matter which one it is. The eat only chocolate diet, the cabbage diet, the fruit diet etc. How many of them are sustainable? Virtually none of them. You need to find an eating pattern that doesn’t feel like a diet but makes you head in the right direction. I do not (or hardly) eat bread, rice, pasta, pizza, potatoes. I may occasionally have them but there has to be a reason like a birthday. I avoid sugar like the plague.

High carb diets provide for energy substrate, that’s all they do. If you are overweight then one can argue that you don’t need lots of carbs. The excess is being stored as fat. You really cant hide from that fact. What you need is a diet that has low carb density and is filled with micro nutrients, salts, some fats etc. By definition if your carb amount goes down then your fat and protein percentage goes up. But the absolute amount need not go up.

I avoid any processed grains as all they provide is glucose. Any benefit the grains once had has long been processed out of the product. I eat a variety of vegetables (apart from the starchy ones like potatoes). I use a simple strategy and pick different coloured vegetables as I make the assumption that they contain different micro nutrients. I get most of my protein from tuna, tofu, beans, cheese and yogurt. I eat some chicken, pork and red meats but not a lot. Perhaps one or two serves of one of those meats per week. Fats I get from avocados, nuts, olive oil, cheese, yogurt. I eat some fruit and when I do its mostly berry type fruit.

I under no circumstanced drink fruit juice or eat dried fruits. I limit my alcohol consumption to probably 1 or 2 glasses per week.

    Morning All,
It’s like a monsoon here, torrential rain. Even the dogs rejected going out in this, they looked at the rain and returned to their beds. Wonder what weather Amazon is getting in Cornwall?
I am waiting for a carpet fitter, due at 9 am. Hope he is not too late as I have another appointment at 11 am.

Emel- great to hear from you again, glad you are back with us. Well done for maintaining through all the stress of moving and changing your job.

Bigbooty- I also stick to low carb, non processed and no sugar except for special occasions but I like potato once per week. I love to eat eggs which you didn’t mention and I find very filling. I have recently started eating strong cheese again to improve my gut bacteria, small quantities with an apple on non fast days. I think the gut bacteria is a big factor for me as I have been reliant of antibiotics a great deal during my teaching career. I caught one chest infection after another plus lots of stomach bugs. The perils of working with preschoolers. The minute I retired my health improved 100 %, rarely even catch colds now. I had my gall bladder removed recently but it doesn’t seem to have effected my digestion at all which is great, but it wasn’t exactly high fat diet even before surgery.
HealthCoachB- it’s so much easier to eat salad in summer, but we don’t seem to be having a summer. Can you contact me on messenger please

My carpet fitter has just arrived saying he has been watching a tornado over Sandwich, no wonder we are getting this heavy rainfall. No wind at all though, crazy day.

Just for clarification- Fastrackers Facebook Group is a private membership and set up for long term, regular posters. The whole group need to agree to add members as we are protective of our privacy. Please contact me on Messenger ‘privately’ to discuss adding new members. Thank you all.

    Have a great day everyone

BigBooty and Jo, I’ve been doing the same. After trying several diets unsuccessfully, I found low carb, higher protein and fat the best for me health wise and with 5:2 is a long term way of life. I’m less inclined to go so low carb I’m living on a ketogenic diet, though, as so little carb kicks you out of the Keto state and it takes a while to get back. Salmon, mackerel and herring I’d add to the tuna. And I’ve really stepped up green veg.

    Good Morning,
What a beautiful day we have here today! Since 4:45 the birds are having fun and I am back and four trying to sleep.
The story of life! Even nature struggles with balance. You guys are having so much rain there in the UK and we here haven’t seen any water for days. Our property runs on whell water.

The good fact of Fasting days for me is that I “eat” LOL lots of water I go to at least 3 liters of plain H2O, no fermented juice and eat that allowed food so mindful. Next time I will try to cut the stevia and the dairy for coffee.

Jo what’s the name of the group on Facebook?

Off to a long walk with my husband and Sasha in the forest.
    💖

Hello jojo 58 if you guys are going to have a group on facebook, I would love to be there too.

Wow got through the day without issues. I think it works for me when I don’t eat anything until the end of day… It has however has been a long day and I am back at work early tomorrow. I feel like a hamster on a treadmill,

    Emel1962,
I have been starving all day, weird how it gets you some days yet others you don’t notice it. It is not a fast day for me but the smell of cooking at bowls club was driving me crazy, I was salivating. Managed to get home without diving into the nearest cafe. Had walnut and shiitake mushroom soup- yummy. Now off to walk the dogs as we finally have some sunshine. Hoorah!

HCB- you can send me a personal message from here. Our group is not on the public domain and we are not putting it out there because we want to remain private. We also want to avoid all the adverts sent to public Facebook groups.

    Hi everyone!
Fasting day for me today and so far Ive had 2 herb teas, black coffee and lots of water….still feeling ok and Im about 19 hours in so confident I will manage through til tomorrow morning and do the full 36 hours!
However tomorrow is when I go camping for a few days. So far Ive been counting the calories on my NFDs so I stay close to TDEE but for the next few days I will just have to be careful until my fast day on Monday and then I’ll be back on it!

Interesting morning rescuing a mouse my cat brought in…. it certainly woke me up! Fasting today and so far just a cup of coffee. We have friends arriving from Switzerland tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing them. Cat is in a huge huff under the bed as we took away her “toy”.

Baking my friends a nice loaf of Dutch grain bread, as he is originally Dutch and its hard to find bread that doesn’t have sugar added here in Canada.

Kay65 – where are you going camping? in a tent or a caravan? Brave if in a tent!

Jojo58 – I used to carpet bowl when I lived in Scotland also. Was great fun but very social!

My challenge this week is not to drink alcohol during the week. Already drank Monday night as we had the neighbours over for dinner, but last night no wine and will not drink until Friday. Think thats the main cause of my little belly. We are all told that alcohol has empty calories, but maybe its my Scottish roots but I love to have a little tipple with friends!

Happy fasting everyone. Going to be challenging for me as I have a massive headache since yesterday.

    Kay65,
Have fun on your camping trip.
Will you be cooking on a camp fire? I love camp fire food.

    Ali,
That bread sounds good and healthy without sugar or additives. I had a dog that brought us a rat home, now that was not fun to catch. They are nasty when cornered.
I don’t drink very often, perhaps two drinks per week, it doesn’t bother me much, happy with a cuppa. Lots of people find it hard to give up their daily tipple, you are in good company here. I gave up tea once and was very grumpy for days. Some things are just irreplaceable. Keep hydrated and have some salty drinks, helps the headaches.
Games night tonight so more biscuit temptation, apple standing by ready.
