Welcome Clairelv and Fitty aboard the fast trackers train and continued learning and experimenting on the study of one YOU. The process of continuous improvement the courage to have a go and to ride the roller coaster of high and low of the scale is as challenging as a fast day or a 19/5 and hats off to everybody who continues to share much more happens on the dance floor rather than leaning on the bar watching the dance floor I have always told the boys πŸ˜‰ who knew 😯 so register and contribute or share here don’t be a lurker ask questions engage in robust discussion or frank and fresh ones put a different view or a new idea of what is working and what is not. Finally Nama don’t underestimate or undervalue entering the darkside of ADF 4-3 with a shaken but not stirred 19/5 massive leap of faith and now doable for you that’s fantastic . Nicky you can write anytime its like having a milky coffee with 4 sugars and smashing a packet of Arnott’s Mint Slice for smoko with a mate thanks in my teens all true good stories I love reading your contributions to the pot of knowledge I swapped milky coffee and sugar for beer traded into cheese and onion chips from mint slice but I have had my share back in the day 😳 I will be quoting they dug their own grave with their knife and fork to BTW that’s a knockout that. Minus -1 today when I got in the car at 4-20am today it is winter is all I have to say 😳
    Nicky nifty fifties surely ??
    Peace RT

Oh RT I did not realize it was the Dark Side!!! Now I am not too sure……
Lovely to read yours and Nicky’s posts, as you say, better to dance than lean or lurk.

    Welcome Maddie201,
Please post your statistics on the thread as we don’t use links that may lead to commercial sites and virus/ spam. Well Done on the 30 lbs.

    Good Morning a Fast Trackers
Well after a very strict Day 1 of my Three Month Challenge -2.1/4 lbs – very happy.

I have decided to record weight morning and evening but I am also going to include treats( cheats). It might be interesting to find what causes me to need treats, analyse my behaviour and emotional eating. No treats yesterday, not even a cuppa with milk, very proud of myself.

Happy – you have a point about the maintenance but it is still a lot of time wasted and leaves me with a short deadline now. I do think the reason is that my clothes and body look ok now compared to before( in my view obviously) so the desire to keep to the plan and be strict was less important. Plus it’s difficult to resist eating what you want when socialising as opposed to what you should choose. Mostly I choose healthy options but occasionally I have the high fat choice – pork or something in pastry, I love pastry.
Nama – well done you, I think you are now where I am headed 140 lbs. you have done brilliantly and always remain cheerful. I am moving in with my daughter and ex for three months before .i travel so .i can rent out my flat for six months. This will bring more temptation into my life. They both have a sweet tooth. It will be a challenge.
Bay – impressive stats, you are so positive and a good example to us bottom feeders, not sure you even have a bottom to feed now. Teehee!
Weemam- never give up your ice cream pal, it is your lifeline. Mine would be my weekly packet of crisps but I like an ice cream at the cinema or theatre.
Back to winter weather here. Off to the tip to dispose of much garden debris then playing bowls till lunchtime. Hungry today.

Thankyou Jojo, always nice to get a pat on the back from our chief! Well done on the big loss. I think you will be extra hungry today because you were so strict yesterday. I think sometimes it takes 24 hrs for the hunger to kick in when our bods are getting really low on stored glycogen. So even though yesterday was tough, today may be harder in some ways. Good that you are so busy. Good luck!

    Hi Fters
    Amazing numbers floating around.
    Amazing losses. Great stuff.

No definitive diagnosis for our wee grandson yet. I am on tenderhooks. Thanks for all your concern. We are off to Italy to see him in 10 days

    My stats
Present BMI 30.5, 23 kilos(50+lb) lost and 10k(22lbs) to go. Goal for target weight: end of September

19:5/4:3 is the way to go I find. I like your not-negotiable comment Nama. I like 19:5 because of that too.

Must go and paint a bedroom as we have WOOFers coming for 3 weeks.

    XX Wiwi

Wiwi, we are all hoping for a positive result for the little fellow. What are your WOOFERs going to do? I thought you had done all the digging. πŸ™‚ Or are they going to house-sit for you?

Well done, Jojo, on your major efforts. I wish you strength to keep it up. My loss sits at 10kg (at the bottom of the bounce!), nudging my admittedly self-imposed target, but with a BMI of 20 – 21, and body fat of 21%, I’m in a very happy place.

Sounds like hugs for Jojo and Wiwi in Wellington in October won’t be of the cuddly variety!! Not too many bones, girls. πŸ™‚

Winter has arrived, so of course it was warmer today. Colder stuff for the rest of the week, though, thunder, snow, gales, depending on where you are in the country. We are currently hosting the under-20s Football World Cup, and they are letting us play with them (hosting rights πŸ™‚ ).

I’m not posting much, but am keeping an eye on all the great news, you happy campers you. Dancing, not lurking, Barata!

    Hi Barata
    Thanks for your concern.
The wadestown Woofers are going to build me a green wall like that outside the Wgtn library.
But our garden is enormous and the garden is a drop in the bucket.
It’s also at 30Β° slope. There is plenty to do.

I will never be BMI 20, My goal is 26-27. Some bones but not too many yet. My Body fat is around 34%

Love to you and my favourite city.
    XX Wiwi

    πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Well, seeing as you totting up losses again jojo…

Mine is the same as previous. Pretty much 30lbs, just short of 14kg, and that’s me at goal (or below) for a year now. Size 14 to (mostly) size 8. BMI low 20s. Six inches from waist, 4 – 5 from bust and hips, and 3 from each thigh.

I’m afraid I don’t intend to contribute any more (or less) to the elephant!

    Morning/evening all.
I’ve just been out to collect a fine knitted bolero I ordered to go with a sleevelss dress that finally fits after languishing in the wardrobe for many a year.

My “epic fail” was not an over statement, I started eating and didn’t stop the whole weekend. The result on Monday was feeling lethargic and bloated. I had a bad week all round so it is no surprise. However I got up yesterday feeling better and ate sensibly after a hard workout at the gym and wrote a menu for the week.
I’ve been talking about travelling on Eurostar which for those of you elsewhere is the train that goes under the English Channel to France and beyond, for ages and I also want to go to Bruges. My best friend called me yesterday evening saying that she had found a great deal for train and hotel, so we booked it for three weeks time! We leave very early on a Monday morning and return on Friday evening. We are staying in a very nice four star hotel in the centre of town with four nights for the price of three. It has really cheered me up and is not only something to look forward to, but has given me a reason to set a mini goal which is 6lbs ie 2lbs per week. I’m fasting today and have planned a nice three course 400 calorie dinner, tomato and onion salad on a bed of leaves, roasted asparagus with poached eggs and fresh strawberries and peach with yoghurt and a dash of honey. Only five hours until I can eat it Smiley

It is so good to read about everyones progress and gain support and encouragement from peoples experiences and kind words whoever they are directed at. It has helped me to remain positive that I can continue and reach my goal albeit later than planned.

My BMI has gone from 34 to 25 and I have lost 15 inches from my waist which is the only part measured as I was so upset when I did so that I couldn’t bear to find out how huge anywhere else was. I would add that I am an apple rather than a pear so I carried a lot of weight around my middle. I now have a waist but it is still a little larger than I would like, but I know it’ll continue to shrink.
Keep going everyone, we can do it πŸ˜›

Yes we can Amazon, however long it takes! Your holiday sounds just the medicine you need, how lovely for you. I have never roasted asparagus, only steamed it – you have mentioned it before so its obviously a favourite – does it crisp up?

Obviously our emotional state has a huge impact on our willpower/food choices. I have been going well lately, even did well on a non fast day today, when a bit worried about husbands medical issue. But it caught up at supper time when I felt really, really tired and really, really hungry. I opened the freezer door (why you ask? mmm) and a frozen Hot Cross Bun smiled (then sniggered) at me! Well, 20secs nuked and spread with butter, what a feast! Lucky I fast tomorrow! Definitely better not to have these things in the house. Girlfriends (sons) cupcakes have been calling all day and I resisted, I guess it got too much! I am certainly not going to beat myself up.. Now my electric blanket is calling me!

ps before I go …. excuse my ignorance, but whats a WOOFer? Someone who housesits and works for free rent or similar? I am just getting my head around airbnb!

    Night all x

    Great News from everyone.

Still thinking of your little one Wiwi, fingers crossed. What are Woofers? This is what we call dogs in the UK.

Day 2 going well but I was ravenous by lunchtime today, could have eaten the dog, raw. Ha ha!

Off to the shops to get some more fresh fruit and veg.

    Enjoy your day guys.

    Weather here still very grim.

Amazon- enjoy visiting my favourite city in the world. Watch out for the scammers on the streets. They offer you a gold( looking) ring saying you dropped it. Then they beg for money, giving you the ring. Be careful. I know you are very well travelled and used to these fraudsters but even I was nearly taken in in this one.

Jojo, they won’t catch me as I only wear silver!
I was almost robbed by gypsy children in Rome, but a passer by saw them and shouted out. You have to be so careful wherever you go these days.
I’m really looking forward to it, and as Nama says it is just what I need πŸ˜›

Nama I use half a tsp of oil plus salt and peppar and roast the asparagus for 10-15 minutes depending on their size. They do crisp up a bit and are fabulous served with boiled, poached or fried eggs ie with a runny yolk to dip them in or with anything else you fancy. I often cook it alongside oven roasted meat or fish, or with other veggies which I eat with a little melted cheese.
I rarely boil or steam asparagus as IMO the flavour is better if roasted.
I must stop talking about food as my stomach is growling. Only a couple more hours until dinner.

Hi everyone, just a quick drop in before bed – it’s nearly 10.45pm here.

Woofers, or wwoofers, stands for Willing Workers on Organic Farms.

Sleep tight SH-ers, happy Tuesday NH-ers. n xxx

    Test

WOOFer= Workers on organic farms. It’s a great scheme, you go and stay and work 4 hours per day and have food and accommodation. The rest of the time you can do things like walking in the country; or visiting places. we have lots of leisure activities like canoeing, cycling, walking, sleeping out on tops of mountains, going to picturesque villages at night. However I will have to work hard with them. They may work in other farms here too and meet French people. It’s a cheap way to have a holiday.
I guess I will be exhausted after 3 weeks as I will have to work hard.
It’s a very common scheme in English speaking countires and even in France.
Anyone can do it, young and very young like us.
    Sorry for the jargon
    XX Wiwi

PS Please don’t eat the dog, JoJo, hot or cold. I know what you mean though.
I go outside and chew on rocket or parsley, when desperate.

I’ve just eaten my salad, asparagus and eggs as I could wait no longer.
I’m saving the fruit and yoghurt for later as it is too cold today to contemplate going to bed hungry.

I don’t blame you Amazon . It is cold and wet here today pal .

I have just tried Quorn for the first time ever . I had chicken pieces and added a tin of tomatoes and a tin of cream of chicken soup then some garlic and herbs . It is amazing and I will be dipping into it all day . I love to try different things πŸ™‚

    Wee xx

    Hello Guys,
Ok so I didn’t eat the dog Wiwi but I can honestly say I have never been so hungry since I started fasting 18 months ago. I think it is because I had a tiny salad last night which was actually calorie counter. Normally I have a huge salad, in counted. Also I ate at 5 pm yesterday and lunch was not until 1 pm today, chicken soup.

I have made a huge vat of chicken soup(20 drumsticks in it, they were on offer)but totally forgetting that my freezer is full, not clever? So it will be soup for lunch and dinner for the next three days. I may add some thai green curry to some of it.

Weemam – try making a quorn lasagne-delicious or chilli spiced shepherdess pie with cheese topper. Yum
Amazon- I love baked asparagus. All your meals sound yummy.

I am a happy bunny. I was checking my passport and travel insurance documents and found €100 πŸ˜›

I am running down the freezer at the moment and all of my calorie counted meals will be gone by the end of next week. Between now and then I’m going to look out some new dishes to batch cook and freeze for the next and hopefully final phase of weight loss.

Jojo, I always count calories on FDs and I’ve started to do so on other days too in order to ensure I’m not eating too much. It’s a pain but it won’t be for long.

Thanks Jojo I will . My lovely DIL made me quorn lasagne on Rebeccas 21st and it was amazing .

Glad the poor dog is safe lol πŸ™‚

Well done Amazon . spending money ? πŸ™‚

I count everything every day . too easy for me to go over .

I roast most of my veggies now in my glass halogen oven . I have still to try roasted brussell sprouts though .

    Wee xx

Wee, I thought I had €20 so I was very pleased when I discovered it was so much more. I’ll need a bit extra though πŸ˜‰

Roasted veggies are great as they have so much flavour and any leftovers can be blitzed with some stock for a lovely soup or fried in a tiny amount of oil or fat with some cabbage or sprouts for a variation of bubble and squeak. Lovely topped with an egg.

    Howdy,
I started this great journey on March/2015. There numbers were 140 pounds (63,63 kg) and my BMI comes to 23.3. I really won’t go to the scale until 06/12. Because the numbers I’ve lost I gained back. No celebrations for 2 months and I have some tough schedule coming up. Guests here and traveling makes it very hard for me. Soon I’ll give you good numbers.

I really had a good 19:5 FD yesterday. That little miso soup of 35 calories was really helpful. I kept myself busy, hydrated part of the simple meal was around 2pm and the rest around 5:30. I was very determined but terrible sleep because of the full moon :(.

Today I hit the gym, plus yoga and after a lovely lunch at a local French Cafe! I wasn’t here for one of my girlfriends 50th and that was my gift. I had a coconut chicken soup, savory and sweet crepes that we shared. It was so nice …

This thread keeps me motivated! Love to see how active many of you are and good sense of humor too.
I guess see most of you tomorro.

    Hi Everyone,
Baked Asparagus, yummy. When it is on sale here, I buy a ton and do a big batch with italian seasoning and a spray of coconut oil.
I think I might want to be a WOOFer one day.
I have lost a total of 30 lb on and off since I was 22. For the first time in 25 years I have been at my goal of 21 bmi for the last month. Yeah for fasting.
    Today I walked 14,000 steps.
    Night all.

    Morning/evening all.
A lovely warm and sunny morning πŸ˜›

FD went well yesterday and I have a fairly strict day planned today, granola with yoghurt and fruit when I get back from the gym and a FD size dinner.

    Have a good one everybody.

    Good morning All,
Yay another 2 lb off, now that is progress, 4 lb in two days, how? Just by being very strict. Yesterday wasn’t even a fast day, stuck to 1000 cals though, my new limit for non fast days until I reach goal. Don’t worry I am having a healthy fresh food balanced diet, just less food. Plus I am off painkillers, I have decided that I will live without them, I am just not prepared to take them for the rest of my days. I will learn to manage the pain which is only really a problem at night as I can take my mind off it during the day. I am not going to let it distract me from the task of losing weight anymore. Hopefully the knee will improve with time and the arthritus of my hip will be addressed by fasting and a healthy way of life and less weight on the joint.

Amazon – you will need every euro you can get your hands on in Paris, bloody expensive but great.
Sarah- great achievement especially the steps, reminded me ?I must wear my pedometre today, still can’t find my Fitbit, damn that safe place I hid it before my holiday.

RT – keep posting wise words as I need every bit of inspiration I can get now I am really taking a tough line. Thanks

Up at the crack of dawn today, making more soup( even cooked, set and drained chicken fat off, there is dedication)and a Mediterranean salad. I needed to prepare for a busy 4 days ahead. I have been selected to play three matches and then .i will be in Birmingham on Saturday singing with Rock Choir, 10,000 voices plus Kiki Dee and Kim Wilde, can’t wait!

Post when I can but trust you all to keep moving and keep losing.
Samm (still missing you chum, we will be here when you decide to return- love and cyber hugs)

I’m not going to Paris, I’m going to Bruges πŸ˜†

I weighed my helping of granola today and it is about half the amount I’ve been eating. It has proved to me tht I need to weigh and measure everything I eat for the next few weeks.

The gym was fairly empty again but the pool full, so no swim today.
I used the exercise bike which I’ve not been on since I first started and am going to incorporate it into my regular workout from now on. I used all the resistance machines today and only struggled with one exercise so I’m feeling rather pleased with myself. I also talked myself out of going into the supermarket and buying a croissant Smiley

    Morning or Evening,

It’s been quite wet and cold here lately. Rained since
Sunday and the prediction is that Thursday and Friday rain again.

    See Jojo
    … Start making the math before you know you’ll be the ultimate loser ;
congratulations Sarah and Amazon lately i am weighing and measure as
    well.

Today it’s is FD for me! The food will be the same from Monday. Half a
cup of cheackpeas, 1/4 cup of basmati rice, teaspoon of olive oil some herbs,
pepper and sea salt. I had my dinner last night at 7pm so a Miso soup around 11
or 12 when if hunger comes up and the meal after 2pm. I am going for a long walk
…. No gym for me today. Tomorrow I will push a little harder.
    Enjoy your day

I’d prefer to go to Bruges too, Amazon. I am not that fond of Paris.

I’ve been to Paris, and there are too many places I’ve not visited yet before I return anywhere.

Welcome fast friends let’s get our fast on today the question is now β€œcan we beat the hunger” ?? As I think most of us can and we as a community save the calorie allowance for just one eating occasion usually I have not seen anything different on the forum not like the Dr 300cal breaky and skip lunch then 300cal evening meal and a lot of us under pin that template with 19/5 I have been thinking that if the scales are not moving under this schedule of 19 hour fast then 5 hour feed and 500-600cal intake why not re set the body by moving the feed? Maybe we need to mix it up so the body is not used to the routine Yes does it matter how do we know how will we respond if a fast day is single 500-600cal meal which Dr Krista Vardy recommends at lunch and Jojo if you do not have the EODD book then get it as is fantastic very scientific stuff.
Point being made is this if we go to bed with a full tummy sleep beautiful wake up but are not achieving the desired outcome why not push the feed back to lunch time or and I will go straight to hell for the mere suggestion of this I know πŸ˜† but why not breakfast or mid morning then run the rest of the day as a fast and go to bed empty if your calorie intake is the same the fasting window 19 hours and the feed window is 5 hours all the same but you have accelerated or rewired the fat burning genie certainly worth a go IMO.
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.
    Og Mandino
AO now your starting to worry me? Everything alright poppet??

β€œIt is easier to avoid eating than to stop eating once started”
    Peace RT

    Hi RT
AO has been posting on FB. She is recovering slowly but surely from a big op, lots of bone fragments stabilised with a pin and screws and a bone graft. Having said that, she is being driven to and from work and putting in a few hours every day. Apparently she sits and bosses everyone about πŸ˜‰

Amazon thankyou for that that makes me happy πŸ˜†

Hi RT sorry for worrying you. to post in here I have to sit very upright without added support so only hop on every few days although hoping to increase next week. Can’t get in here on phone where I can on FB. Sorry have to go now. Chat more later πŸ™‚

Thanks AO great to hear and see you all good now SA Life can get back to normal for me πŸ˜‰
take care of and be good to you xx

    Good evening All,
RT- I have been moving the window and the main meal time to fit with my busy life but sleep is more disturbed on an empty stomach. I am being very, very strict at present on both fast and non fast days, measuring and recording everything. I feel I need to do this as my exercise has been drastically cut at the moment due to a knee injury. So far so good, not finding it too hard.

Most importantly I eat only fresh food no tinned, frozen or packaged. I only want to feed my body healing foods. This does mean lots of shopping though. The most difficult challenge this week has been giving up tea entirely as I have stopped drinking milk. I am having ‘hot water and lemon or herbal tea’ only now. This is a real test of will power for me as it is a ritual at lawn bowls to stop for tea and biscuits/cakes either half way through a game or at the end. I am the only one not having T & B. If I feel tempted I look around the room and see how many bowlers are overweight, today that was 60% easily. I take fruit and a herbal tea bag so that I can at least sit with my friends and eat, it is a great social time. We won our game today which always makes me feel good and positive but even when I lose I have enjoyed the game and social interaction. I am in matches tomorrow and Friday too, I hope the weather is good, it makes such a difference.
Amazon- apologies- don’t know how I got on the wrong track about your trip. I loved visiting Bruges too. Wiwi I love Paris for the building and the Art, food pretty good too.
AO- good to know you are coping well with your broken bones. I was in plaster for 8 weeks, it drove me crazy, especially at night.
Looking forward to my weigh ins, so great when you know it will be a positve result, hopefully a pound tomorrow.
    Goodnight friends

    Hi All,

Hope everyone is happy this morning/evening! Freezing but sunny here this morning so I will risk frostbite and peg some washing outside! Then off for a swim, which I am looking forward to.

RT I think some ppl here already shift their 19/5 fasting window around to fit in with ‘life’, fairly certain Jojo does. My difficulty is I prefer to eat with the family in the evening. I think it would probably be better, metabolism wise, to eat early and not go to bed after food. But I also doubt I could get through an evening, or even get to sleep, without any dinner! You have done 4 day fasts, how did that go re sleeping?

My scales creeping down slowly – this weightloss business requires one big thing: Patience!!!
Take care all, esp you AO.
    Cheers xx

Our posts crossed Jojo, one from the NH and one from the SH!! Sounds like you are doing brilliantly at present, all systems go! Sleeping after no dinner would be really challenging I think.

Good morning all. A quick post in the 20′ before my TAFE students arrive for class.

Jojo, such resolve! … and already repaid with losses. Well done.

Nama, similar to you I like to have my eating window close at 7.30pm after dinner with OH on work days. It opens at 3pm with a boiled egg and orange. Yesterday however, it was a different story …

Already knew it wasn’t going to be a typical work day (for eating) with a morning tea for retiring Deputy Director. I made beetroot dip with cruditΓ©s which was very popular – lots of people looking for something else besides fatty dips, chips, biscuits and cakes. Then had usual weights day lunch of 1/2 salmon and tomato sandwich, leaving the remainder plus orange for post weights feed – something SAMM put us on to about needing both quickly-available carbs plus protein immediately following weight training. The ‘icing’ on the cake was that I then went to a cooking demonstration with my daughter – small serves but lots of them. What could I do? πŸ™‚

Fortunately the scales kind this morning and will not eat anything now until my PT assessment at 12. Even if weight not as low as ‘first thing’ weigh-in, the body fat % should be unaffected and hopefully lower than 6 months ago.

Will post later with results. Must go, first student just arrived. n xxx

I will have the opportunity to test that theory for a month from 29/6/15 to 27/7/15 afternoon shift production manager will be on annual leave so I change from day shift to afternoon shift with a start time of 2-30pm till 11-30pm I have done the EODD fast day as required with lunch only I have done the 4-3 ADF with dinner only so yes I will embrace the brunch mid-morning feed Nama sleeping has never been an issue personally as I am knackered usually by 8pm I am always awake before the alarm as you will appreciate changing shifts takes a little getting used to both for y-fee and myself but a good opportunity to review this way of life in a different light. Or time frame Jojo the detail and preparation for your schedule is unrelenting in the quest of goal you need to be congratulated you are a credit to you and an inspiration to the rest of the fast family you have created and care for thank you so much.
Nicky I have to say a hard-boiled egg and an orange does not sound like roast pork with apple sauce or roast beef and horseradish or roast lamb and mint but I am keen to explore this combination further very soon. A good mate of mine a shearer always has cheese and apricot jam sandwiches every day I thought how bizarre of course I had a go it was ok but not a regular feature ever really. .beetroot dip how intoxicating have you ever had the beetroot chocolate cake ? I am putting one together for the weekend big wood cutting day out the farm for all the family perhaps abit like the Italians do the family tomato sauce day.
    Absolutely teaming down rain here
    All the best fast friends
    Peace RT

    Hi Jojo

I had to consult a metric conversion table over something and checked the figures I posted previously. My metric figures are correct. However, I wildly exaggerated the losses in pounds and inches. So here goes the corrected figures. You are right, not much bottom left. However, I think that I will always have a rounded stomach. πŸ˜†

    Weight loss. 17 kg = 37 lbs.
    Bust loss. 8 cms = 3 inches.
    Waist loss. 20 cms = 8 inches.
    Hips loss. 11 cms = 4 inches.
Clothes size from 16 to 11-12. Best statistic!

Hope that makes more sense. πŸ˜‰

    Hi Nama, RT, Nicky, Amazon

Love reading your posts. πŸ˜‰ It’s a beautiful blue sky sunny day here in Brisbane. After a cold night at around 5 C, it will top out at around 23 C today. Love the climate here in Winter. Hehe! Makes fasting easier.

    Cheers, Bay πŸ™‚

RT as a nurse I experienced morning shifts (7am), afternoon shifts (2pm) and night shifts (9.30pm). I must say the afternoon was my favourite as it suited my body clock, but not so family friendly. Also, my shifts varied if on “days” and that was really hard for me, so “nights” were actually easier as they were regular. I am sure you will succeed whatever shift you are on, because you have the right attitude! Shift work causes a lot of bad eating patterns and obesity but thanks to MM we now have the tools! So get your tool belt on!!

Hi Bay! I am so jealous of your sunshine. I need some thermal underwear…. Your Mum must be loving having you around.

Hi everyone. I hope you don’t mind me dropping by. I just wanted to thank you all. Your thread is so inspiring and enjoyable. I love reading about you all and I just wanted to say how awesome your stats are. Wow, you guys are doing brilliantly. I’m just at the start of my journey. Not doing quite so brilliantly. Started at 206lbs not sure how much I have lost. I thought it was 4 lbs in a month. But too much bingeing has meant I put it back on. But Nama and Barata have convinced me this is a blip. Anyway. I will keep going in large part because I believe in all of you. So thanks πŸ™‚

    Hi Tessy

Welcome aboard. Have you read the Michael Mosley book on the Fast Diet ? He gives you the medical reasons why fasting is important for health. Also he recommends that you calculate your TDEE, based on a sedentary lifestyle. This can be done at the top of this page.

Your total daily calorie intake should not be more than 2000 calories on any day, if you are trying to lose weight. When they say that you can eat what you like, they mean type of food. In the early days, you ate learning to fast, and not to graze or nibble through the day. Drink water whenever you feel hunger. All of us who are or have been overweight have lost our natural appetite. Fasting helps us to regain the knowledge of real hunger vs eating from boredom, stress, tiredness, or anxiety.

It’s really important to drink at least 2 litres of water a day, and not to drink sweetened sodas. And if you can manage some walking each day that’s really good for you. Don’t panic. You won’t die from lack of food. Just remember it’s only one day, then you can eat the next day. But the next day is not a feast day, as you don’t want to undo your good work on the fast day. It’s a normal eating day.

Good luck. Remember we’re here for you and wishing you well on your journey. Many people have blips before they learn how to fast properly. If you weigh daily and count your calories for the first few weeks, you will work out what a 500 calorie day feels like. And just as importantly, you will know what a 2000 calorie day feels like.

I hope you have measured all your dimensions, as often when people don’t lose weight, they lose inches.

    Cheers, Bay πŸ™‚

    Hi Tessy,

Welcome! Take all of Bay’s advice seriously, she is one successful and experienced faster! Hang around here and you will learn from a lot just like her. We are from all over the globe, but we have one thing in common. As Bay says, we had lost the art of eating in response to true hunger. Just the fact that you have persisted despite a difficult first month shows you have the determination to make this work. And it will!
