  • I could do with a drink now, but we never have any beer in the house other than Christmas. Seeing that bar of chocolate is making me weak. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤.

    Morning
Sitting tucking into poached egg and wheat bread, I’ve had better poached egg.
1.5lb loss, sorry miss my feb target, but happy enough with the loss, I’m sure next week will show the difference (hopefully).
Very wet and windy here, but at least it’s not Icy.
5pm finish today will be nice to be home at a decent time,no idea what is for tea.
Hope you all have a good day, catch you later, at my break.
    Tammy x

    Morning all!
Tammy- hope your tummy doesn’t play up after your fast while you’re at work…Well done with the loss as well!
Jean- glad you had a good evening, Charlie is such a good boy being out like that!
Dave- did you hold out on the chocolate?
Hope everyone has a good day & the weather’s not too bad for you all. Going out with Xena soon as it’s dry at the moment…

    Hi all

Well deserved wine last night, Jean.

Well done on all these weight losses…I’m waiting until tomorrow to declare in the hope that a controlled but normal day today will give me a genuine reading for Feb.

Tammy…I think the ‘built in delay’ of weight loss can be really frustrating…you do some amazingly controlled days but the reward isn’t always instant!

Domestic day today although I di need to tuck in a little work around the edges for a long day tomorrow.

    Mx

    Morning All…
Pouring down here…so riverside walk…I hate peeling wet clothes off to get in the car ….
Shopping for us this morning….ironing and house jobs if I can be bothered….

    Dave…
You are strong with the chocolate or is it eaten…..I sometimes think your body is telling you things or fighting with your demons or you really really want it…I go with the sod it eat it theory. ..line drawn continue…

    Hedgehog…
Awful and wet here…glad you have a dry walk…are you seeing Mum tonight is she joining you for a meal…

    Tammy..
A long day ahead….1 1/2 pounds off is good, it takes a lot of doing for short return, it will balance out as you go…is your poached egg in your new poacher, try Steves way it always seems to work for us…

    Minols…
Hoping you have some movement on the scales tomorrow…housework for you too today 😬

    Have a lovely weekend all…

    Jean x

    Morning all

Not a bad morning here looks chilly but dry and was light at about 7 this morning spring is just around the corner.

    Hedgehogs

I usually have Quorn mince for my spag bol but Tesco’s own isn’t too bad either and must have a generous amount of garlic 🤣.

    Tammy

Well done on your weight loss I’ll be happy with that tomorrow at least it’s a positive result.

I now have a month of not getting weighed 😄.All the talk about chocolate, I was only thinking about it but I must admit the thoughts are getting stronger. I do like Jeans ideology on dieting especially the line drawn under it. I have the holiday feeling now but I am going to a funeral on Monday, Denise’s uncle. We go to see Herman’s Hermits tomorrow so something to look forward to. Brilliant sunshine here today not used to that.

    Afternoon..
Shopping done…making Charlie’s dinners for the freezer….we managed a walk without getting wet, brightened up but getting colder…hoping to get to park later, he seems top form with energy needs burning off….
The last high tide today then it drops a bit, we then have to cope with the rain off the hills taking a few days to hit us..we have loads of roads closed, with pumps trying to help people..the River Don is high too….if the M62 has a problem the traffic has nowhere to go as it’s all closed, we are a backup road to it….
They are saying the flooding is as big as Lake Windermere ..😱

    Tyhpoo..
Good luck to weigh in tomorrow…

    Dave..
Do you go on Wednesday on holiday is it two weeks?…see what damage is at the end of month…lovely to have some sunny weather and a relax….

Well must push on…..work to do….

    Jean x

Jean I go on Tuesday for a week so hopefully not too much damage. A couple of weeks after to get back on track.

    Afternoon!
    Minols hope you’ve had a productive day? & a controlled one too…
Jean- I say sod it to the housework too! Hope the flooding eases & the rain stops…
Dave- you’ve done well holding on til now! Enjoy your weekend & the sun…
Typhoo- I’ll have to look at the tesco mince, the wuorn’s quite expensive, especially if I do it for son as he eats alot!
Tammy- hope your work day wasn’t too bad, & enjoy the vodka tonight!
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!
Got caught in the rain this morning after all, very wet! It was dry by lunchtime so we went to the park with Xena as she needed it, while we could. Something strange happened to me today- I was going to have lunch, but realised I wasn’t that hungry, so I didn’t bother! Doesn’t usually happen to me!
Saw Mum & sis for a game, & Mum’s coming tonight for dinner. Made a keto pud thing for tonight, yum…

Evening everyone, have had a lovely lunch with the Grandson and his Fiancee followed by a visit to our daughters on the way home. Absolutely stuffed so not going to be having anything else to eat today.
Weather has been sunny with a really cold wind today.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
    Nana x

    Dave..
You shouldn’t do too much damage with one week…is it A1 that might be tricky…

    Hedgehog..
I did my ironing that’s all and shopping…no housework 😬..well done missing lunch….I think that might be a good idea when we haven’t much to loose …have a nice evening…

    Nana..
Sounds like some good visiting…go light on the good now…..

    Jean x

    Hi all

Typhoo – we’re noticing the longer days too… I think I’m at a similar latitude to you. It makes all the difference!

With the boy’s help we got washing done, and a few domestic things…tried making pastry and sausage rolls for the first time since I helped my mum as a little girl. Not as good as my mum’s but a reasonable first attempt. Might buy the pastry in future, though, as trying to make the lb the recipe required was a mighty effort!

Talking of lbs…I made it, Kay. That’s a pebble for me for February! March is a bit longer, with no holidays, just a wedding, so I’m going to try for the 2 this month that I promised last month! Slow and steady!

Busy day today. An extra meeting, plus 2 showings of the film we’re using to focus our minds in Lent…The Theory of Everything. Leaving the boys to find fr themselves today…!

    Have a good one everybody.

    Mx

    Morning all

It’s a very wet day here looking like theres sleet mixed in with the rain but never mind I’m not going anywhere.

Weighed myself and have managed to gain a pound not the result I wanted but will have to work harder for the next weigh in.

    Morning All…
A bright very windy morning…a couple of park walks hoping to catchup with Oreo at one, Natalie had a late night so she may not make the first walk 😂 ….the boy is a bit grumpy this morning, strange he’s pushed his dinner to about 11 am after his walk??..a bit late really…

Clean up today looking a bit dusty…

    Typhoo..
Thinking through what you are doing..are you calorie counting to see if you are going over what you should eat, it’s worth a try for a few weeks…even every day keeping under your TDEE…and your fasting days..find a small dinner plate I think it helps with smaller portions…chin up and push on…

    Minols..
Pastry is easy keep trying..a cheap processor is even better, a quick whiz and it’s done….well done on your two pebbles….enjoy your day….

    Hedgehog..
Xena is so lovely and a big girl now…early walk out you caught the sun…

    Jean x

Dry and sunny but very windy in Lincolnshire.
Just reporting in one pebble down on the beginning of February. Not good but could be a whole lot worse. My attitude to everything was not good in February so trying to pull myself together.
It will be a good month though not on the losing weight front. We are away three times, so must get in the FDs in between. Otherwise I will faff around saying oh tomorrow will do it, then it’s time to go away again. Have begun to binge a bit too which I haven’t done since starting this WOE.
Anyway good luck to everyone and let’s make it a Meaningful March or whatever anyone else comes up with!

    Morning all

Quite a busy day yesterday. Went to Brighton to pick up keys to son’s girlfriend’s new flat and then fiddling about as she/they?? moved. Complicated..

Nibbled quite a bit then Chinese and cake(!) at daughter’s house. Didn’t go mad though…

Unfortunately went into one of the numerous potholes around here on the way back at about 11 in dark country lane. OH saw it but couldn’t swerve due to close proximity of other car. Rac just arrived as tyre totally shredded. Blah!

Jean intrigued to know what a patty is? With you on processor pastry, though I never make puff these days…

Mel Meaningful March sounds good to me!

Hope everyone’s having a good weekend. Off to walk Grets driving with a temporary tyre til tomoz….

Morning just about, a patty to me is like a pasty, but I suppose it differs depending on where you come from. Won’t be on much today City play Villa in the cup final and I can’t watch it live because we are going out to see Herman’s Hermits so I will turn the phone off around 3-30 . For those of you who watched the Likley Lads it will be like the episode when they didn’t want to know the score of the football match. A lovely day here, lots of sun, hope it stays that way because we are going on the bus tonight, better than going in the car.

    Afternoon!
Up & out early, walked Xena before Church, doing refreshments so had to be out just after 9am. Still lovely here so will go out again soon…
Minols- hope your day goes smoothly! Well done with your pound off, with your holiday too, that’s great! I buy pastry now- my lot like flaky & I’m not making that!
Sarah- that’s so frustrating, potholes are a nightmare…nice to have son’s partner & maybe son close by!
Jean- enjoy your walk with Oreo!
Typhoo- shame about the pound, hopefully better next week.
Mel- well done with your pound, you’ve had a holiday & kitchen leak, don’t nag yourself…
Dave- hope you enjoy the show, sounds good!
Tammy- hope you’re enjoying a day off, & didn’t have to work.
Nana- lovely that your grandson wanted to see you! You’re lucky to have such a close family 💞
Cakey- hope you’ve had a good weekend in that nice cottage 😉
Kay- hope the weather’s been better for you to enjoy the lovely scanery around you!
DF- hope you’ve been able to relax a bit before you go back full time…

Sarah – nightmare pothole! A cautionary tale…there’s a huge one at the top of our street and I’ll make sure I avoid it – deep rather than wide.

Definitely a fan of short crust over flakey. Can a mixer do it or does it need to be a processor?

    Mx

Get your fingers in to it never mind using machines 😁, still a very sunny day here, hope it stays dry tonight. It was very windy when I Took Heidi out before. Watching United v Everton at the moment then will turn the telly off and my phone. Hopefully watch the game when we get home tonight.

    Hello

Funny this talk of pastry as I’ve made a pie for tea later too. Shortcrust, corned beef and potato – you can take the girl out of Newcastle but….

Struggled all week with dizziness. Got pills for vertigo but I don’t think it’s that. Low blood pressure maybe. Keep having to have a little sit down.

Off to mum and dads just now, as soon as pie out of oven.
    CW

Send me a piece Cakey I like corned beef.I like all pastry.I love corned beef and onion toasties.😋😋😋😋😋.

Minols – no mixer required with shortcrust. Takes 2 mins to rub-in by hand. The less it’s handled & the cooler it is, the better it comes out x

Recipe = half fat to flour. Eg 12oz plain flour, 6 oz butter. Rub in with fingers until resembles breadcrumbs, add a little cold water and bring together with knife.

    😋😋😋😋😋😋😏😏

Just succumbed to cheese on toast (Lincolnshire Poacher, Mel). Just one piece while annoyingly slim OH had two. Having more cheese tonight. Halloumi salad and sauteed potatoes.

Dave, loved Likely Lads. Though we saw Rodney Bewes once at Edinburgh Festival doing 3 men in a boat and my word he was as drunk as a skunk. Kept burping and staggering. ‘Oh dear’ said the elderly lady sitting next to us ‘I think he’s not very well’. Hmmm I said.

Minols I think a mixer would overwork it badly. The other easy way is to semi freeze whatever fat you’re using then grate it into the flour. A quick, light rub then add the liquid and bring it together. I tend to make loads and freeze though admitedly in a processor.

HH Flaky very nice but agree too much of a palaver to make.

Off to allotment now to harvest more forced rhubarb. We won’t be deficient in vit k that’s for sure!!

Cakey your pie sounds gorgeous…are you drinking enough water. I have low blood pressure and water and a bit of salt is what they say…

I used to love pulling rhubarb at my dad’s allotment,it used to grow around the well.Loved the big leaves.Dont like the taste though.

    Afternoon All..
Busy all clean down stairs, floors and windows cleaned…Steve in the garage beside his self doesn’t know where to start ..garage door closed now looks like I shall have to help and supervise him in the week ..it’s an all day job.

    Mel..
Good job a pebble in the jar….you are always doing things it’s nice but hard..holidays etc…try and pull the bingeing back it’s easy to slip….

    Sarah…
Hope you sorted the move/flat out..we are always called upon 😬

I do pastry and ruff puff for meat pasties, that’s easy…A patty is to have with fish and chips, mashed potato and sage, deep fried. ..can only find them in Hull as you hit the boundary, that’s it gone!…going back years it was the left over chips mashed up to re use and sell the next day, looks like a fish cake….each fish shop do their own recipe, not always with sage…I like them with sage the best.

Shame on the wheel and pot hole, they are a nightmare…Love cheese on toast…..and rhubarb umm.

    Hedgehog..
You were a busy bee this morning, walking, church and cuppas…we missed Oreo hoping for this afternoon ..just having a sit now….bacon butties for tonight easy, eaten heavy for two days.

    Dave..
Enjoy Herman Hermits a blast from the past …

    Minols..
Sorry a processor only…it’s the best thing I have ever bought..one of those things shall I buy?…should have bought it years ago…

    Cakey…
Lazy girl here…yes it’s easy by hand..I only do it till breadcrumbs then by hand…hope your dizziness settles it could be low BP, dehydrated?…enjoy mum and dads…

Do you always use butter for pastry is it better then stork?

    Jean x

Sweet pastry, could use lard instead of butter,or half and half.Bacon butties, I had one for dinner.

Back from a walk with the hound. Fast day going ok today. Will do another one on Tuesday. Thought of doing B2B tomorrow but think this is where I am failing. Panicking and trying to get two in together when I am not up to it, then failing.
All this talk of making pastry, when I last made it dinosaurs ruled the earth. Paul used to make some good pastry though, a lovely corned beef pie (no potato though Cakey).
Those patties sound good too, never heard of them before.
Sarah we saw RB in Three Men in a Boat too years ago, think he was sober!? Shame about the pothole, how we haven’t done any tyres in I don’t know, the ones we have bounced down round here.
Have a good night Dave and no midnight toast when you get home!!
Must finish off FD (aloo saag and enough calories to have some butter beans with it).
Tomorrow I must eat well and not go overboard. You are right Jean must stop the binging in its tracks. Think I have done, it was only once last week. When I was younger I suffered a bit from bulimia, not too bad, and then I just seemed to stop it somehow. Don’t think it would become an issue now but pays to be aware.
And thanks HH, I won’t nag myself. I haven’t done bad really. Keep on keeping on.

    Focused February ******

    The aims….
    Kay 4
    Nana 4
    Sarah 4
    CW 4
    Tammy 4
    Mel 4
    Minols 2
    Charlie 2

    The results are in!
    Kay 3
    Nana 2.5
    Sarah 3
    CW 3
    Tammy 1.5
    Mel 1
    Minols 1
    Charlie 0

So 15 out of 28 so about 54%
    Hmmm could have done better!
But the good news is that no1 gained! Or at least any gain mid month was off again by the end of the month, so the jar didnt have anything taken out!!

    March here we go!!

Are you doing it again in March? If so I’ll be in, put me down for 3lbs?
Not sure that the incentive worked very well, but there were lots of holidays!

Evening everyone , I’m in for the pebble jar for March but will only aim for 2Ibs as it’s my birthday this month and we’re going to be going away for a few days to celebrate plus we’ve been invited to a 60th birthday party and a pub meal on top of our usual activities 🙄
Husbands curry was nice and everyones meals this evening all look and sound good.
Dave love The Likely Lads – hope you’re able to keep from finding out the score.
Sarah annoying about the car tyres seems to be happening everywhere. Have you considered claiming the cost of a new tyre from the council ? Quite a few people have done so successfully around here.
Jean must admit I also use a processor on the odd occasions I make pastry. Sounds like you’ve had a busy day.
Hedgehogs a busy day for you also.
Have a good evening everyone. Will aim for a FD tomorrow.
    Nana x

    Evening All…

Well done everyone who moved the pebbles…all in the right direction….

    Kay..
Charlie and I shall join you for March… 2 lbs each ….hope you don’t mind looking after the pebble jar 😀..it seems to keep people focussed.

    Mel..
Good idea splitting the fasting, may work out easier..

    Nana..
A few things planned for you this month…I didn’t manage making my curry this weekend, glad your hubby’s was nice…

    Jean x

Hi Kay, put me down for 1lb in the pebble jar. I know it is a pretty pathetic goal but hopefully it will stop me putting on. We have a lot of socialising meals in March.
Jean, yes I think sometimes I can do B2B but trying to force it in between going away was self defeating.
Good luck to Charlie with his goal! He will be sylphlike.
Sarah, I agree with Nana re the tyre, my neighbour did that last year and got reimbursed. Think you have to take a photo of the pothole though. It may not be near you, but I am sure you can find one that looks like it 😂😂.
Actually Kay, put me down for 2lb. She who dares, wins!

    Mel..
If it helps we were going for 1lb but pushed the boat out for 2lbs 😂

    Jean x

    Hi all

Bust day now over. Just had a bacon roll at lunch, porridge at 6pm, and a little cheese just now. Think that bring me in under 800?

Not sure what to do tomorrow, but I know I’m having lunch out on Tuesday so should certainly try and keep well below TDEE …which reminds me I need to work that out again.

Going to aim for 2 pebbles inMarch.

    Mx

    Morning all!
FD for me, a bit hungry this morning, think it’ll be a long day!
Good luck to everyone else fasting!

    Morning!

HH – I’m with you fasting, but agree it will be a long day!

First day back on full days again, not sure how I’m feeling yet. Doing a FD so at least I can focus on that. Its been too easy to eat while I’ve been at home in the afternoon, so need to get back into it properly now. Work trousers feeling a big snug again!

Hope you all had a good weekend xx

Morning joining HH and DF with a FD for me too.

Toying with doing 3 this week and getting March off to a good start. Really want to get rid to get close to my target 6 before I go to France for 3 weeks in early April.

Jean a patty sounds wonderful. I love sage too.

Nana and Mel thanks for the info. The pothole isn’t far from us and we will certainly be contacting the council. OH currently off to get a permanent tyre in in time for me to get to French class. These are the times when having just one car makes a difference.

Kay thanks for managing Feb pebbles and keeping us all in check. It does keep a focus on our targets I think.

Have a good day everyone xx

    Hi All
Not fasting today, but trying to bring it in well below tdee…but where on this site will I find the calculator for that? I just used a random Google one and it brought me in a whole lot higher than I would have thought.

Happy fasting to the fasters…and good luck back at work, DF.
    Mx

Minols, go onto resources at the top of this page, then bmi calculator and that will calculate for you.

Morning all, just back from a good walk with Jodie. Aim this month is to up my steps, up water intake. Yesterday’s FD was fine and I forgot how good you feel after one.
DF hope Mr DF is in a good mood when you get home!
Good luck fasters. I thought of having another one but it was very fleeting. Tomorrow though.

    Keep strong fasters!

Not fasting today but will try to count cals and stick to TDEE

DF, hope your full day goes ok.

Sarah, hope you get your tyre sorted. A good job it didnt wreck your wheel too.
Good luck with the council. I think they rarely accept liability and the pothole may need to have been reported and/or ‘marked up’ as needing attention. I might be wrong but I remember a work colleague trying to claim in same scenario.

I dont think the pebbles helped for accountability in February!! 😂

But we can try it again for March if people want.
Maybe not pebbles…our beach has enough now with all these storms 🤣

Day off for me and housework required 🙃

Going to book a short break for my birthday at the end of this month, so thats a focus for me to lose a few more pounds.

Sun still shining here, we will see how long it lasts!

Hope everyones Monday goes ok x

Mel, our posts crossed! Ill join you in the increased steps and water!

I managed to get home without knowing the score 😄.And we won 😄. Herman’s Hermits were good, would have been better if they had all been there but good to hear the old songs. There wasn’t that many there, possibly half full, we had an entire row to ourselves. It’s a lovely theatre, Google it is called the Stockport plaza.Getting ready for the funeral, must take Heidi out first, my son will be home from Prague by the time we get home.

Dave well done for getting home without knowing the score. Good result too!

I have done the social media/radio shut down many times to avoid hearing results from F1!!

Think this corona virus is going to cause some disruption to this months sports…

Yes I agree, they may start baning them to stop the spread.Just had a corned beef toastie🤤😋😋😋😋
