    Audrey

Yay … I reached nearly 6pm. Friend rang about 4 until 5. Then Mr Pips food needs to be got and a bit of coaxing being a spoilt dog. lol Kristy arrived back so near on 6pm.
Had a large bowl of the soup and 3 crisp breads I oz cheese. Feel absolutely stuffed like I have eaten a 4 course meal.

Yay … Thanks everyone for your support.Xx

PS Glad your stock was saved Milena… OH definitely a keeper. Xx

Well done Audrey ( Just seen your post} Hope all goes well at the Drs tomoz.
    Xx

Bev and Priscilla how’s it going. Xx

Very tired and already in nightshirt and cosy dressing gown. Ever the glamour puss. I am jealous Hemmy, sounds like a real feast.

Audrey, so successful too. Milena so glad OH saved the stock!

Just met a new lady Lynx, in a bit of a panic and could not for the life of me remember the thread with all the info. I talked to her a fair bit and said it would be nice if she came on here with all your combined knowledge she will be in safe hands. Hope Ginette is back soon.

    Going to bed soon. Yawn.
    Sleep tight all. x

    Beverley

    Morning all

Oh dear stayed the same. Feel slimmer though. Will ditch the wine next weekend. Empty calories and anyway daughter will not be back as she is off to Turin so no excuses….Will be back to see how you all got on later.

Looks like we are going to have sunny spells here.

    Beverley

    Morning all

Well 3 days fasting and 3lb off! I know I will probably put a bit back on but hoping for 2lb this week.

Off to Dr this morning so will be in touch later

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. xxxx

Hi Bev, I join you in staying the same. Lost a few ounces but nothing to record. A shame as I am 1 lb away from the stone mark.

Never mind it will get harder now .. plus I had a good week.. twice out for eating. You enjoyed your week-end celebrations. We have to live this way of life for us. xx

Hi Audrey, well done you. So pleased for you that your hard work paid off. You are a true inspiration. Hope Docs goes well. Have a little relax today. Xx

Onwards and upwards …think where we were 3 months ago.

Hope everyone else had a good day. Catch up later.

Remember Brit lovelies ..Success is never reached from a comfort zone. Xx

FD for me today, am trying to not eat till this afternoon, seems to make me less hungry if I can put off that first meal for as long as possible!!
Anyone else tend to have an early bedtime on FDs? 🙂
Hope you are all well ! Keep thinking of the health benefits!

    Hi jammy

I was in bed just after 7.30 the other night, it keeps me away from the tempting kitchen hehe

I too last as long as I can before eating on fast days I find it easier to not eat at all if possible.

    Have a good day everybody

    Audrey

Sounds like every one had a sucessful FD yesterday, we both fell of the wagon spectacularly. It has taught me a valuable lesson; on fast days we are safer to keep our main meal carb free. Last night was the first time we didn’t do this and the first time we have caved in later in the evening after msin meal because we were so hungry.
Its not the end of the world I managed not to beat my self up over it. Start again on Thursday. Looking lovely and sunny here today so I think we may go to the beach with the doglets .

Well, I was busy polishing my halo, having had three bowls of soup and a bit of muesli today, when OH suggested pizza for supper – hmmmmm, halo now in drawer, going for a glass of when, see y’all on a fast day on Thursday!!

    Milena

Enjoy your wine and pizza. …think you have earned it

You know me Audrey, resolve of pure iron, so I just had half the pizza.

Which would have ended the day on about 800 calories, about 1100 with the wine. – just the one glass – ok it was a large glass, hence the 300 calories.

Refused the offer of toasted teacake twice. A perfect demonstration that we have to show restraint at all times. I am such a good example to you all.

I think the manor house cake was a wee wobble, but then again, a very small piece. Not too far over TDEE, pretty good after three fast days.

The mince pie might have been a step too far, but it was quite small, and I refused the offer of double cream.

I think it was the rather large chocolate and hazelnut croissant that really did me in!!!!!!!!

And that milena is why I go to bed very early to avoid temptation.

It does appear that without men in our lives to tempt us with this food, we would be good all the time. ….

I have a rather nice recipe for a fruit cake which is very similar to manor house cake if you would like it, my husband loves his cakes. …..
Ah well today is a new day, let’s just enjoy ourselves, Fast or feast.

I have weighed in down 2lb over the week……VERY HAPPY

    Have a good day everybody

    Audrey

    Audrey

you are sooo right – it didn’t even end there – been up all night, had a bowl of soup at 2 am, nowt wrong with that, a pain au chocolat at 5am. OH is becoming a bit obsessive about the cheap bakery goods in Sainsburys at the end of the day.

I’ll give it a couple of weeks and then tell him is getting chunky, that will sort him out.

Son has had to stop his gym training since he hurt his hand, so is losing tone – but he is eating really healthily and has cut right down on food, so he doesn’t start gaining weight. He is so focused and determined, puts me to shame.

Just need to get rid of the hubby, i think. If he wasn’t such a nice man he would be kicked out! Email me the fruit cake, he does love cake! My email is on my profile.

Well done on the loss, brilliant. I’ve not weighed myself, I’ll leave it until after the weekend, doing a fast tomorrow and a liquid only over the weekend, then another fast on Monday. Probably will weigh Tuesday.

Have a great day, I still have a pot of soup so I’ll just tuck into that.

I have grand children coming at the weekend, so I am having to re jiggle my fast days. think I am going for liquid on Monday and fast on Tuesday will see how it goes.

Will try to send you cake recipe but not very good with computer stuff do may take some time!

It was my daddy’s favorite. ……..bless

Have a good day try to stop eating now.

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Looks like a wet old day so as I am home will need to keep busy I reckon. So strange after not losing anything yesterday have lost that b pound this morning. lol

Well done Audrey with the 2 lb loss . you deserved that.

Milena I hope you get a loss soon .. you work so hard at this.

So pleased to report the wine demon is staying away from my door. Tastes changing all round.

Hope everyone is doing ok remember Brit lovelies ..

The past cannot be changed… The future is yet in your power. Xx

    Hi all

Hemmy, that is sods law, so you lost the pound after all!

Congrats on the 2 lb Audrey. Star!!

Milena, I am sure you will soon be a star soon. Well, you are anyway!

If anyone wants the recipe for a real rib sticker of a cake I have an old one I got from my elderly neighbour years ago. It involves a jar of mincemeat.

It’s raining so Neil is still in bed. Better go see if he wants a 2nd cup of tea.

    Have a good day all.

    Beverley x

    Milena

I think I have sent you an email with the cake recipe…. check your in box and let me know please.

    Audrey

    Hi Bev

How are you finding it this time. I think you said you have done 5 2 before.

For years my Mum always said you need breakfast. Well, the last few days on non fasts I have just had cups of tea. Not eating till about 12-1pm. Feel more energetic and of course missing out a cal meal. Noticing I cant eat such big portions now.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Xx

    Hi Hemmy
This way of eating is how I ate for years. I never like to eat early and think it is not necessary. Stone age woman would not have woken up to a fully stocked fridge and cupboards! lol Back in the 70’s in particular I would do 2 day fasts.

The bulk of this weight I have had was put on in the last 2 1/2 years. I was looking at clothes and the dress I wore for my dads funeral 2 1/2 years ago is a size 14. I was about a stone up then but then put on another 1 1/2 stone!!! A lot of the problem was the wine which got to be a problem. Dark days but now the sun has come out and I am back to normal

It is nice to be back from the brink. I am so glad you are enjoying the smaller amounts because it is so much healthier.

Big hugs and lets carry on.
    Beverley x

    Hi Bev

Yes, I agree about the wine. Now I have sort of taken that away I can see the food was not really the problem.

I feel the same ” It is nice to be back from the brink” so easy to feel rubbish when your whole world collapses in a blink of an eye.

Still. yes the sun has come out again for us and we must make the most of feeling stronger again . Enjoy life and be the best we can.

Enjoy your day… together we are stronger. Xx

Hi all hope you have had a good day. Milena are you o.k. or perhaps catching up on some sleep….let me know if you received the email mail please.

I have soaked the fruit tonight ready for the Xmas cake. …… tomorrow we are stripping the spare room we got the paper last year but ian was ill so it never got done, have decided the time is now hehe

    Audrey

Been fastened to the laptop, Audrey, and just had a hour’s kip.

Back in the saddle, soup came into its own, and a fair bit left for tomorrow’s fast.

Christmas cake – lovely on Boxing day morning, fried with black pudding and poached egg! Boy am I going to have a heap of fasting before Christmas!!

    Glad ur ok mileba

Fried Christmas cake really??? Has it not got enough calories? Hehe

    Talk soon

    Audrey

    Morning all

Had a really good day yesterday. Hemmy hope you did too? FD today for me. Yet more boiled eggs I suppose, I will be growing feathers at this rate!

Audrey and Milena, am dying to hear what more can be done with Christmas cake….on toast?

Daughter is back for the weekend and not going to Turin until next Friday. Contingency plans are in hand. She is going to help me de-clutter and a good cull is in order.

    Have a great day all.
    Beverley

Good Morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Hi Bev Had a good day too. Things really seem to be clicking into place now. Not even thinking of the wine in the evenings. Not needing those sweet rushes … obviously went with the wine.Lol Xx

Feel good…excited now. I did find it hard after the few days away to get back at it again so will beware in future.

Yes, wonderful ways with Xmas cake. I still have one from 3 yrs ago not sure if it should be composted. Although a very traditional family everyone always seems too full after lunch. Maybe boxing day after cold would be better ….orrrrr like Milena says fried for breakfast. Lol

Hope everyone else is doing well … very quiet here.

Ginette if you look in hope you are ok and you are very missed on here. Xx

    Don’t forget Brit lovelies …

Believe you can and you are half way there. Xx

    Hi

are you going to be counting calories at Christmas Audrey – I’m spending the whole of the month up to Christmas day banking calories, need to, we are still having beef wellington for Christmas dinner – a packet and a half of butter for the pastry – eeek!! James Martin – he is a god – would be so proud of me!!

The scots have a fruit slice to eat with a scottish breakfast, Christmas cake is similar but even nicer, you have to try cake with poached egg if nothing else, cake fried of course. The Scots also eat potato scones for breakfast, I find them too greasy – strange considering how much butter I put into puff pastry – see above!

Then again, the Scots don’t have a good health record, and that’s not even mentioning deep fried pizza and deep fried mars bars – never had either, my son bought a deep fried pizza once – one look at it and I made he bin it and promise never to buy another – cost me a PS3 I seem to remember – worth it!

Porridge – or porage, of course, its good for you (and really nice too if you make it with milk, make a moat with double cream and add brown sugar.

Going now ladies, before I am forcibly removed!

Whey hey talking about cake. Just realised first time ever while shopping today .. never bought any cake for the week-end. Yay.

Talk about not have your cake so you cant eat it. Lol

Hope you had a good FD Bev and anyone else. Xx

FD for me tomorrow… anyone else. Xx

    Morning fellow brits

Have weighed in 2lb off this week……over the moon!

Am filling holes in bedroom wall today prior to decorating, Katie had that much stuff on her walls it looks like a dart board in places!

Keep in touch will check in again later, good luck to all

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Well done Audrey .. you must be thrilled. Hope the decorating goes well. Xx

Fast day today …looking forward to it. Not decided what to have today as yet. Forgoing breakfast and then a milky coffee after Mr Pips walk at noon.

Have a good day all .. ( where are you) lol whether fasting or just being mindful have a good day. Xx

    Brit Lovelies …

“We may not be there yet, but we are closer than we were yesterday” Xx

    Hi all

Well done Audrey. What a star!
Hemmy you sound so upbeat!! Let us rock on……doing ok here. Good luck on your FD.

We are getting a bit thin on the ground here. I expect Milena will pop in later.

Another cup of coffee and action is called for.

    Beverley x

Good morning Britain from West Yorkshire
Well here I am. Week 1 of 5:2 and on my second fast day of the week. I have never joined a forum before so I hope this will be informative, inspiring and entertaining.
So far on my fast days I have opted to skip breakfast, concentrating my 500 calorie allowance on dinner (that’s lunch were I’m from) and tea time (that’s dinner or supper time to you maybe)and I am still alive.

I haven’t really decided how much weight I would like to lose yet but I think I will just aim for 1 stone for now and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

    Hi Porky Yorkie

Well done! I have just completed day 2 and am also still alive and feeling very motivated! I have three stones to lose but my initial goal is also a stone. Looking forward to the new me! Good luck with it

Hi Newby and Porkie Yorkie, Welcome. I’ve only been here a short while my self. I dont know what my start weight was (not long moved house, couldnt find scales).I guesstimate ive lost 3/4 stone so far. I hit my first goal of making it under 14st a couple of weeks ago. I think I am probably ultimately aiming for 9 1/2 st but I will see how i look as i go a long. Not so much worried about the numbers more a how I feel in my own body and size/health thing.
Despite it all going horribly wrong on FD on Monday I am finding it surprisingly easy. Things I find that help are drink plenty..warm water with lemon juice is vdrry good. Weigh everything when cooking on fd and I find cuttingout carbs on the main meal on fast days helps too. I dont tend to think of it as as a fast day as such more a restricted day.
Oh forgot to say 5ft 1 47 years old, currently about 13st 11 (yay) and live on the North Norfolk Coast.

    Hey newcomers!
I find on fast days that leaving eating for as long as possible is best, drinking lots of non calorie drinks (herbal t and black coffee) and keeping really busy helps too. At the moment I leave off food till about 1 30 then have beetroot and an apple, then plenty of calories spare so I can eat what the rest of the family have, well nearly, at dinner (that’s in the evening for me 😉 ). I forego carbs like pasta rice bread and just have the protein and veg. Never cook a lasagne on your fast day! Go for veggie heavy soups and stews!
    Keep fasting people!

Just weighed…13st 9 and thats with having spent the last five or six days sleeping for 18 hours a day. Going in to Norwich today. .. first day properly out the house for 6 days. Really pleased withweiggt especially since we scewed up on Monday and seem to have turned into human dormouse. I think it wont be long before i have to buy new knickers. Thats my first stone slain thanks to 5:2

    Hello Porkie Newby and Jemmy

Wow numbers are rising fast, how great, and much good luck everywhere.

Celtic so chuffed for you. Well done! Hope Stu is doing OK.

Just had brunch and had my cheese fix with a tub of cottage cheese with onions and chives scooped up with a pack of velvet crunch cheese and onion crisps. Now well and truly stuffed for under 300 cals!! Yippee!

Well I guess we are all set for a productive fat busting weekend. We are of course…….yes!

    See everyone later.

    Hi all

Have just come back from tesco. On way out my back decided to go into spasm! Very embarrassing to say the least when you are stuck at tesco unable to move!

I am finally home and in quite a lot of pain, feeling very sorry for myself…..

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Audrey

Oh Audrey how awful for you. Hope you have someone with you now. x

Hope you soon lose that pain do you have something strong for it.

Take care look after yourself a day of resting up. Wonder if the decorating brought it on. Xx

    Hemmy

I have arthritis and spondylitis in my spine. …I usually go for cryogenic surgery every 12 months for pain relief but the machine is broken so am having to wait….the muscle spasm is just a side effect , luckily ian was with me so he could get help to get me out of store and into the car…..

It will take a few days from past experience before it gets any better. Still may stop me fridge raiding as much!

Thanks for your concern, I miss ginette also, I am sure she will be coming back once things are back to normal for her.

    Audrey

    Good morning all 🙂

Well done Audrey on your great loss this week x

    Karen
    Xx

    Hi Audrey

Sorry I didn’t realise that Do the spasms come often. Does anything in particular bring them on…. exercise.. food ..stress. or just out of the blue when they decide to come.

Hope you feel better soon. you are such a lovely energetic lady it is a shame you have to cope with this. Such a blessing Ian was at home and with you. Xx

    Hi Karen
