    Good morning all

I weighed in still the same as yesterday cannot complain at all.

Had measurements taken at gym going down weight going down very happy. The trainer reminded me that slow and steady is the best way for your body and mind and your skin.

Hope every has a great weigh in. I will check in later

    Hi All!
My french visitors arrived today and turned out to be three people, not two…so that tells you how good my french is, when I even got that wrong!! Ha ha! Embarrassing or what?!!
Doggy – so glad to hear that a surgeon was made to stand down. A very clear message needs to be sent out that this behaviour will not be condoned or tolerated in any shape or form. Agree with everything you said too Gypsy and Suejen. Good on ya!
Welcome Bryn – best of luck on your weight-loss journey. I’m Irish, so will be cheering on the boys in green on Saturday…may the best team win!!
Had two glasses of red wine, a peach schnapps, pavlova as well as all the usual meals…and this is only day one! Oh dear! Suppose I’ll just have to enjoy it!
Will try keep in touch as much as possible but a very full calendar planned for the rest of their stay. Best of luck to everyone for the weekend.

Good morning team, not doing aerobics today, pain a bit too intense, oh well same ol’ same ol’ some days are worse than others….soon to be fixed God willing!
Bryn, I’m a true blue very proud Aussie, fourth generation, it’s lovely to look back on our family tree, and realise they are PEOPLE not just names, but I love where I live our safety our variation in weather and our glorious landscapes.
I haven’t weighed this morning as it’s another fast for me but just measured and I’m now down 59.3cm over all so no wonder my bathers are falling off. New pair already waiting. Funny how after being so big for so long (last 10-12years) I still think of myself at that size…untill I see myself in the mirror and take a second look! I need to lose another 10-15k but slowly, sure I get impatient, but our 5:2 IS a WOL and a WOE so being in for the long haul my body will adjust at it’s own pace.
Think positive team YOU CAN DO IT and take a lesson from your dog” if live gives you sh.., kick some grass over it and just move on” hehe!
Have a lovely day team, take time to smell the roses, our lives seemed to be going by very quickly these days so each second wasted will never return and gone for good.
I’ll check in later, once I can get some movement happening and a hot shower πŸ™‚ CG xxx

Hi ADs. I’m running a bit late today due to stuff beyond my control.
Weigh in today and I’m down 500 gms plus the odd cm here and there. I too have the roll above the waist which is reducing but still there. I’m still very happy with the WOE and have given our diet a nickname – the tomorrow diet. What we can’t eat, drink today we can have tomorrow. My mood is also chirpy which is another plus.
Domitin Paradise – I see a few post ago You asked what type Birds Eye fish is eat. It’s usually the Steamed fish in Lemon. One just zaps it in the microwave. – easy peasy. They make a Thai one too but I think it has more calories.
Gypsy I see the cyclone is still lurking, hopefully it will push out to sea and dissipate.
Apologies for any typos. I should be wearing my specs but seem to have mislaid them.
I’m scared to tet fate BUT Pepper has slept till 0530 for two mornings in a row. Two nights of good sleep and I’m feeling so much better.
    Enjoy your day.
    Doggy

HI Team had a wonderful night out last night at my friend’s 60th. She hadn’t seen me since I started 5:2 in January and I was thrilled by her response to how I looked. I so love getting those first compliments – don’t we all! Not that I’ve lost a heap yet but it’s just starting to show. Clothes are fitting much better and I’m not pulling things down all the time ie trying to make clothes that were too tight still fit! Soo a happy camper today. People in town haven’t noticed yet so that’s still to come. Still a long way to go but that’s OK. Slow and steady…and with stalls…….will get me there.

Weight up a bit today but that’s to be expected. Will just do a low cal today rather than a FD – aim for about 1200 cals. And perhaps have a more conservative weekend than usual ie less alcohol (after last night!).

CG are you REALLY down 59.3 cms??? That’s an amazing piece of work girl. After all that I reckon your body is just taking a break and re-calibrating itself…….just like you looking in the mirror and taking a second look to recognise yourself. It’s kinda doing the same thing but internally.
Fit enjoy your visitors + 1 and the food, & come back and do 4:3 for a while & all will be good.
Bali good for you with lower weights and measurements. Well done!!
Gogal hang in there with your plateau….it will break sometime soon, & you may drop quite a bit. Just do all the stuff you know so well by now – second nature really.

    Hello everyone!

I have been keeping up with the posts, but once I get through reading them all, my boy joins me and I have no time to reply!!! So I’ll just say its been fun catching up and reading the posts. Glad we have another “Tudor’s” fan in our midst… I enjoyed that series too… and the bum shots hehehe… Not sure if a good bum is worth loosing your head over, but still loved the series.. My sister just returned from a trip with shots of some of the castles used in the series… ahhh one day!
For me it’s been a good week loss wise – down 2.4kg in only a matter of weeks and am working out that the busier I am, the easier it is!! I just have to get even busier which shouldn’t be hard!! I have also stopped the daily weigh in’s as suggested. The one thing I am noticing (and no jokes about being in Tassie… have already taken this into consideration…) I am freezing.. really cold! Especially my feet! Any idea’s about this apart from an extra jumper (which I have on..)
On the home front.. My about to turn 14 year old throws State Rep level Shot Putt but doesn’t train or practice… She has never done little Athletics etc. Soccer & Waterpolo are her sport’s of choice… She stopped Soccer at the end of Grade 6 as she played in her School Team – all boy’s and she was one of them – and she now goes to an all girls school and says it’s not the same. Water Polo last year for the same reason.. They don’t have mixed teams after Primary School πŸ™ She came second in her School Athletic Carnival yesterday to the State Champion who also attends her school and another girl who came 3rd and is in her “House”, so between the two of them getting 2nd and 3rd, gained them some much needed House points on the day! When the three of them threw at State Championships up until last year, it was always in the same order.. She sent me a text message telling me about her place win to which I replied.. imagine if you trained.. You’d be a weapon.. Her response… I don’t want to be a weapon Mum, but Yep imagine *giggle*
Tell me if you know any secrets to motivating 14 year old’s these days… You’d think that getting a placing every year would be enough to see where it could go Nationally…? But no… It seems if it’s not SIMS, Minecraft or stupid YouTube sensations its not important in the scheme of things.. It’s a very different world to the one I grew up in…
On a more exciting note! Tomorrow is our 2nd “Date Night” (drum role….)in three years, which as you can imagine is quite the event in our house! Now I have a good respite worker, we can organise these moments every now and then and a bit more frequently hopefully! We have 5 hours so are off to see a movie after a quick (thinking asian) dinner.. I may need to starve myself till we head out, but will be careful and make sure its worth it!! No choc top’s at the movie though
    πŸ˜‰
Well to you all I hope you have a good weekend! Those of you copping some pretty serious storms at the moment… stay safe!

Morning AD’s. My weigh in is still 85.6 kgs, but at least it’s not going up and I have lost 4centimetres from my hips, not as much up top, but it is weird how much different my shape looks. Heaps better. I’m losing it (The nineish kilos, so far)in the arms and legs. Happy with that. Will just plod on. The main plus is clothes feel loose, hang better and my fitness is greatly improved. This is a life salvaging program, that’s for sure!

Had a bit of a wild night with the weather, but no damage here. It’s turned out to sea again, apparently. Still raining on and off. We’ll see what the catchment waters rise to when flooded streams North wend this way to the sea. Our floods are often of the delayed, flash flood type and are compounded with tidal volume. I am on the banks of a major estuary river (The Herbert river) system that makes up the network of mangrove wetlands in the Hinchinbrook Channel. Beautiful area and abundant wildlife habitats, but it can be treacherous, with the larger reptiles being saltwater crocs. When my backyard joins the river by-wash, big fish, like barramundi can get trapped when tides strand them in sections(like billabongs I’ve seen big crocs after them, no more than a few metres from my back deck. And they are becoming a big hazard all along the northern beaches these days (protected species). Mostly I agree with live and let live, But humans eat crocs now, so I guess we’re fair game! I don’t have a back fence, so at least they can’t get trapped IN. (like one did in a neighbour’s chook run! Gotta luv livin’ in Dundee country!

Hope you feel better CG. xxx gyps

Leo, you might want to get your thyroid functions checked re the extreme cold as a side effect of 5:2. Or scroll back a few pages, I believe someone (?Fittoretire or was it suejen or Flemmie??) posted about the same anomaly. It was mentioned by Michael in one of his lectures. The thyroid governs a lot of the nervous system functions and the heat regulation is one. Some one here knows more about it . they are bound to amswer you, but see your GP if it’s worrying you. Be safe. xx Gypsy

Hi Leo getting cold on fast days is quite normal as your food intake is so low. Check out the search bar at the top, it has the answer to why. All I do is drink hot tea/coffee and put a cardigan on if needed but it doesn’t happen now as often as it used to. Your daughter is doing so well, seems like a waste of talent when they’re not really interested but I’m sure she would get accolades at school and feel a sense of pride.
Enjoy your well deserved night out and eat and drink what you like, 5:2 is very forgiving and it doesn’t happen often.
Gypsy, I don’t know what I’d be more scared of, crocks or spiders or snakes. Golly, what a situation to be in, breed em tough at the top end hay!
78.1k this morning but still fasting today, so will see if the scales move in the morning. Enjoy your day team, it will never come again! πŸ™‚ CG xxx

That’s fab countrygal cant believe im talking to some of you from Australia. I would love to visit Australia. Good luck all. I will let you all know how I do on 5 2 when I start back after this weekend.

Good morning team on this glorious Autumn day in country Vic. I do hope your safe Gypsy as well as our W.A. Team, such awful weather hitting you both.
Well weighed in today at 77.7k so here’s hoping my plateau is on the wane.I’m heading out to lunch with friends shortly, still deciding if I should choose well or just go all out to kick start my metabolism? I’ve been doing 4:3 for two weeks now on only 200g down after yesterday, so moving very very slowly. Maybe there is a lot to be said in letting our hair down every once in a while, who knows, just to shift thing around. Knowing me, I’ll go for the chicken salad as always, my mandatory Jack and coke and that will be lunch followed my a black espresso.
Have a great day team, get out and enjoy, inside chores can wait for the wet cold days which are not far away.
Don’t sweat the small stuff team πŸ™‚ life is far too short, be proud of all your achievements and enjoy life….CG πŸ™‚ xxxxx

    Hi All!
A very successful day with my frenchies…walk around Dublin, visit to the Phoenix Park where our president lives and herds of wild deer roam around freely, drive out to an old fishing port to the north of Dublin where we saw seals and lots of interesting birds, beautiful views in the sunshine and a lovely lunch to top it off.
CG – as usual I’m in awe of you…your tremendous cm loss and your indomitable spirit!!
Doggy – am glad you’re getting some better sleep, it’s amazing how it affects our attitude and ability to cope with all that life throws at us.
Suejen – thanks for the sound advice, you’re so right, enjoy special times and adapt the WOE afterwards.
Leo – that’s a brilliant loss. About your daughter – it’s great that she so talented, but the world of competitive sport is not for everyone and it’s better that she’s happy and contented in her life. She has skill and time on her side if she changes her mind in the next year or two. Enjoy your date night…you certainly deserve it!
Gypsy – so glad you’re safe, don’t know if I could cope with all that dangerous wildlife!
Off to bed now gang. Have to be up bright and early to fix breakfast for everyone and get out on the road again to enjoy the sights! Take care all and have a great weekend πŸ™‚

Hi all. Hmm another early start with doggo. I’m feeling a tad worn out again.
Leo I also felt the cold a lot, especially in the first month or so. As CG says, Michael mentions that his dad also complained about it. It seems to improve as our bodies become accustomed to the 5:2.
Good grief Gypsy, spiders and snakes are one thing but crocs! Eek. I guess it’s the Saltys you have. They are just enormous.
Bonjour Fittoretire. It’s good that things are going well with your French visitors. I tried to learn French last year before a holiday there. I didn’t do too well. I think one has to actually converse to be able to learn a new language. So good for the brain too.
I went out to the neighbours for dinner last night so my TDEE was shot to bits. It was a fun evening with wine, laughter and lively chit chat.
    Cheers for now. Doggy

Hi all, Looks like we missed a bullet this time, cyclone Nathan is heading in the opposite direction to me at present. Poor buggers in Venuatu are copping it from the big one tho. Sorry for them.

Fit, I didn’t mean to sound like Annie getcha’ gun! I really don’t have much trouble with the wild life. It’s just a matter of being aware it’s their habitat, too. Mostly the river banks are high and the scalys are not cliff climbers. Just flood times can flush them up and trap them in odd places (like drains). and it’s recently been coastal city streets, like Cairns esplanade where tourists have been terrified by crocs crossing roads or just lying sunning in gutters, after crawling out of storm drains. And those walking their dogs on beaches have had their pets taken. It is no longer safe to swim in northern beaches or coastal creeks anywhere near mangrove wetlands. They were pretty much culled out by hunters in my youth, so we didn’t have any hesitation about diving in anywhere. Now there are warning signs, but many get ignored, or downplayed by locals. I like to make people aware, rather than see man or beast get hurt, but those in the tourist trade are in a bind about scaring folk off. I think I’m a greenie, or at least can see both sides.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone. CG, hang in there and have a pigout if you want to! cheers! Gyps

Hi team, so glad your safe Gypsy, my son- in laws brother live at Margaret River and they look to be copping it over there my daughter and her family were over there only a couple of months ago taking plenty of beautiful photos of the coast so really hope it’s not too damaged, looks a beautiful place, forget the other places they went but stayed at Marg River and did day trips.
Well, absolutely blew all cals at lunch but loved every mouth full. Chicken neptune, salad and a few chips, huge prawns and scallops with it yuuuum, then thinking of getting a mud cake from Safeway, but instead had a PIECE of caramel macadamia cheese cake with lunch to rid my craving and ooohh soooo yum. πŸ™‚ so better than having a whole cake to get through if I had it at home. Not really a sweet tooth but every so often it’s nice. Dinner will be something light tonight, glass of water and a feather I think, but really enjoyed the chat the laughter and the food, very relaxed atmosphere, did a bit of shopping on the way home and now in front of cricket, so all’s well in my world.
Wishing you all a safe and fun enjoyable arvo team πŸ™‚ CG xxx

Afternoon all Margaret River is doing OK. We’ve had about 11mm of rain so nothing drastic and no winds. More to come but not heavy.
CG so glad you lashed out a little (even your lashes are not very big!) Huh glass of water and a feather hey??!!! Glad you enjoyed yourself girl (nice version of girl!!). You DO really sound like you’ve got over your plateau with what was it …a 77.8 or something. I’d say you’ve definitely smashed it.
Gyps so glad cyclone Nathan missed you by. We have missionary friends on Tanna Island in Vanuatu with 4 kids so hope they’re OK. They only have reception at the best of times so won’t know for a while I expect. I have a daughter in Darwin so she knows all about your crocs. Only part she doesn’t like about living there is not being able to swim right through the humid, wet season between crocs and jellyfish. They swim at waterholes the rest of the time.
Dogie glad to see you too are enjoying a bit of a weekend relaxation and socialising. Hek we NEED those times to be in it for the long haul.
Fit good to hear about all your gadding about. I love speaking French & we’ve had 3 holidays to France & I managed (mostly) to converse – only the usual travel type stuff of course. I did get stuck at one stage as OH left his passport behind at a hotel and I had to phone them & it was amazing how my schoolgirl french seemed to just kick in & I came out words that I didn’t even KNOW I knew! Much harder over a phone though.
Well I had an interesting lunch. Saw a recipe for a Lemon Lime Polenta Cake (as you can tell I love cooking!!!) and had to make it. Then wondered how I’d manage to fit it in so………that’s what I had for lunch! Not exactly nutritious eh but you do what you gotta do. Did have it with yoghurt not cream so something good. Trying to get back to my best weigh-in of under 75. I’ll do it but who knows when.
Have a good evening all and as our esteemed Madam President says don’t sweat the small stuff. Expecting friends over soon so might just have to have ANOTHER piece of that cake, or maybe I’ll just have coffee. suejen

Hi suejen, yes I’m hoping I’ve broken the back of the plateau but being on it so long feel I could go either way, but POSITIVE this WOE is helping. The glass of water and a feather will be missed as I forgot I have 4 chicken wings thawed in the fridge so just marinated them in Sumac and lemon juice so will dry bake them and savour every crunch of the skin and sweetness of the meat, hay tomorrow is another day. Just checked what my TDEE is and I’m still not up there so alls good although I usually eat well under it. Enjoy your cake…and…coffee,? have a wine girl, it’s Saturday! All the best CG xx πŸ™‚

Umm yep CG I did. Had a coffee first…thinking I’d be good but then had a glass of wine too. Never mind not having much at all for dinner – feel full of cake anyway. Amazing how our food intake and tolerance has changed isn’t it?! I feel stuffed on so little these days sj

Whoops CG forgot to say….enjoy those chicken wings. They sound delicious, crunchy and tasty. So yes enjoy every mouthful & start again tomorrow.

    Morning all

Being in Cairns last week visiting Palm cove and Port Douglas I struggled not to have a swim in the surf, I love he sea and being near the surf coast swim often. Crocodiles and stingers no thanks.

I have been over indulgent been right up to TDEE for two days running. Having pizza lunch and Indian dinner not a good idea on the same day. I enjoyed it. Back to it healthy day today and back to fast tomorrow. When I went to dinner last night wore jeans that didn’t fit me a few weeks ago I couldn’t do them up. So I was happy.

Everyone keep going and journey not a sprint.

    Take care Bali

Morning team. Well my decisions of yesterday rebounded on me. Having 2 serves of my cake (a 2nd when our visitors arrived for afternoon tea) did me in. Well it’s almost always lack of protein that brings on the hungries/munchies with me, so having cake for lunch not a good idea. It went downhill from there. I haven’t really had a day like that since starting 5:2 where I just mindlessly kept eating. So I ate chocolate, 2 X bread & honey, & lotsa nuts. Oh well I hope I’ve learnt my lesson on the protein front so onto another partial FD for me today. Boiled egg for brekky & lunch, but then we’ve been invited to friends for dinner – hoping we get a salad or similar! Just have to do the best I can. And yes Bali have to agree it’s a journey not a sprint – well, certainly wasn’t any sprinting done by me yesterday!! So don’t think I’ll see any change at weigh-in this Tuesday.
Have a good day all fasting or not. And stay safe from our cyclone weather. suejen

THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED SINCE I STARTED 5:2 – ADD YOUR OWN ON.

    1. I always turn to water first when I feel at all hungry. Used to be the last thing I thought of & water intake was always low.
    2. I don’t cave in to cravings for fatty/salty/sweet foods when supermarket shopping or down the street eg a bucket of hot chips, or a chocolate bar – even when I was going home with meat to cook for dinner. If I do have something it’s usually a mindful decision, conscious of my calorie intake.
    3. I don’t mind looking in mirrors any more – boy, that’s a big one.
    4. I’m oh so slowly starting not to think of foods as good or bad, and not to feel guilty (like yesterday!) when I slip up. I don’t bash myself up – just move on. Haven’t wrecked anything permanently LOL
    5. I feel full and stuffed on a much smaller amount of food (except if I miss that protein). OH & I often comment on this & amazed at how bloated we feel after eating what we used to in the past. How things change.

    What about you??? sj

Greetings all, both in Australia and our honorary Aussies. The posts make interesting reading. It seems as though we all have the occasional blow out and eat junk food or carbohydrates with a high calorie count. The odd glass of wine etc. The important thing is we realise this, don’t beat ourselves up and just move on to the next day. As CG so often says its a marathon not a sprint.
I’ve just been watching the news on TV. The devastation in Vanuatu is just too horrendous. Those poor people who have lost everything. It’s seems as though they still do not know how many fatalities there were. Having travelled around South Africa plus other parts of Africa, most of we just don’t know what living in poverty really means. It can be pretty sobering to witness it first hand.
Well another FD tomorrow. I have my meals planned so it is all sorted.
Cheers all and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
    Doggy

Hello AD’s So pleased that many of you did not have the full force of NATHAN.
CG well done on braking the plateau and & 77.7 kgs WAHOOOOOOO!!!!!.
Congratulations to all of you for your loses last week.
I will not be posting for the next week. I am attending the very sudden passing of an old friend’s funeral. He had just moved to the Gold Coast from NSW with his wife of 35yrs, into a new home 3 wks ago… Last Friday purchased a boat and suddenly collapsed last Saturday night. The years that I attended high school created such strong and long friendships …. we were all brothers and sisters….each year we have a reunion. this will be another event that will bring us all together to celebrate the life of a very wonderful person.

Take care of yourselves.Treasure and love each precious friend, your family….. even the annoying ones cos we never know when we are called away……Love & Hugs….GO GALxxxxxxx

    Hello AD’s!

Thanks Gypsy I’ll look into the thyroid functions factor… might go along with the feeling extremely tired all the time factor… I have been putting of a GP visit for a while with no time but maybe need to just go in for an all over…
Glad everyone seems to have missed the impact of the cyclones hitting Aussie..
Yes the Croc’s can be a little scary.. especially at your doorstep… My brother lives in Townsville and we have had a few close experiences un-knowingly on visits… Such amazing pre-historic creatures, but don’t like being too close…
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and school mate go gal! I hope you get much from those precious memories you have and the friendship of those in your school “family”… your brothers and sisters… I certainly know what you mean by this…
You are right about my daughter fittoretire, but it is so frustrating to watch!
    πŸ˜‰
Well we went out to have noodles, see The Seventh Son and for dessert and coffee at our infamous State Theatre afterwards and it was AWESOME!!! So nice having time with my great husband and he doesn’t go to the movies… but wanted to see this one, so we went and it wasn’t too bad! It has Jeff Bridges in it who I don’t particularly like as an actor and even disliked him more with his fake silly accent in the movie, but Julieanne More and Kit Harington who I love were awesome! Kit (who plays John Snow in Game of Thrones) starts off as the “apprentice” and only survives the first scene… Sad face!!! A great night out and very happy with our support now, so hoping for a few more! Only just went over my calorie intake so VERY happy with that and even had a choc top WOOHOO!!
Have a good day you lot (and week ahead… in case I don’t get a few moments like this during it!!).
Creating a track… even though its a cold one!!!

Hi team, bit late for me today, had a tradie in this morning doing “husband” jobs for me, $600 gone on a blink! Anyway very satisfied with what he did so all’s good.
Sound like you had a lovely night Leo, I know what you mean about Geoff Bridges, I’m not a fan either and that in itself can spoil a movie.
Suejen, that IS the beauty of this journey, we can live, we can eat, and we can over indulge at times but 5:2 is so very forgiving with one or two fasts. It does change your outlook with food and usually cravings are a thing of the past. Our tastes change too as well as our portion sizes.
GG, I’m sorry to hear of your friends passing, news like that impacts on so many. Try to enjoy your reunion with friends sharing stories of your friend who passed. It is a celebration of life.
I thawed a leg of ham I froze at Xmas, it’s beautiful, so just ham, tomato, and cucumber for lunch, low cal and healthy. I bought a lovely piece of salmon yesterday so will be having that tonight. I hope it all cleans my inside from yesterdays indulgences as I finished the day with a cappuccino and some chocolate, didn’t feel one bit guilty and enjoyed every bit of both.
Fast day for most of us tomorrow so don’t forget preparing is your number one priority. I’m sure you all have plans in place with meals and look forward to the cleansing effect our fast has on us.
Be good to yourself team, you deserve it… CG πŸ™‚ xxxx

Hi gang. Hugs to you GG, agree with your sentiments, friends are precious. So sorry for your loss. we will all be thinking of you, your support to us is Mammoth. I’m sure your presence will make a difference to his poor wife. Hold on to the good memories, love.

    Hush Now……Remember

The loss of a friend to the theft of time
To age or illness, or whatever the crime
Is surely the worst that man can endure
A true friend is rare, priceless and pure

    A friend is your friend
    Because you are you
    Seek as you will
    You’ll find but a few

    The world may seem bleak
With no friend to guide you
    But ….. Hush now…..Remember….
    See….. They’re walking beside you…
    (thinking of you, the gypsy)

    

Gypsy, your poem is beautiful. My son in law had a tragic occurrence this week, a colleague/friend hung himself at work over night and they found him the next morning. Imagine the image they will live with. I’m going to forward your poem on to him, he’s having a difficult time, my daughter is a wonderful help to him of course but a very difficult time. It’s so sad the young feel there is no other avenue, life is so precious and every problem eventually passes. Take care team and please reach out if you have problems… CG xxxxx

Am thinking my world is flat today. Sure I can hear cries across the sea. Survival can’t be celebrated when so many are lost.(up to 90% of housing demolished on latest cyclone report for the islands). I will be busy and offline for a bit, helping the disaster relief with local efforts. Even if it is only in the mode of raffles, every hand helps. One is reminded to count their own blessings. So yes, Suejen, I also have a lot of changes since starting 5:2.

    1. I have more energy to help others as well as myself.
    2. Less complaints
    3. The taste of food AND life is sweet (without sugar!)
    4. More friends to share the road
    5. A realistic focus for better health
    6. A long way to go, but a clear road to a positive goal.

So I had chocolate for breakfast. Some days require it. FD tomorrow. Have a good week all. xx Gyps

Sorry for your boy, CG. Hell of a thing. Be kind to yourselves, mates. There’s a cloud passing, but tomorrow is another day. xxx

Wow so many things happening to keep up with, all part of the circle of life.
Gyps yes agree with all you’ve added, and one more I thought of is that I find it much more comfortable in bed too! Luv your poem Gyps too.
CG what a terrible thing for your SIL to have to find at his work and so sad. He will certainly need time to deal with that one.
Leo what a great night out and to top it off (no pun intended!) only just went over your cals. Woohoo! Oh by the way I like Jeff Bridges, but not with a fake americam accent. Nothing puts me off a film more than when the actor/actress doesn’t hand an accent well. Real downer.
GG great that you have such long, lasting friendships from your school days. We’ve moved so many times that I’ve lost touch with everyone. Hope you’re able to celebrate his life beautifully & then remember all the stories of his life – that weave together the great tapestry of your friendship as a group.
Bali don’t you just love those moments like with your jeans. Precious I reckon!

Well had my 2 HB eggs so far & will now have liquids until we head out to friends for dinner. Hope that I can stick to a good number, well under my TDEE.
    suejen

Thank you all for your very kind thoughts… CG- so sorry for your son’s friend.
THE GUFF IS FULL OF NEW SOULS LORD….!
Gypsy- your poem made me cry it is so beautiful and so true……. Would you do me the honour of allowing me to read it at Alan’s funeral.?HUgs xxxx

    ………GO GAL

GG, Words are all I have, and you are welcome to their comfort, the honour is mine. Blessings. gyps

Hi CountryGirl thanks for being so inspiring and helpful. Makes me think this 5:2 diet might just work. My name is Jo and I’m 67 and have 50 kg to lose so have a long way to go, but if I can actually lose 1 kg a week then I’ll be looking and feeling a whole lot better this time next year! I live in Toowoomba Qld, BTW. Cheers!

Hi Jo, you are more than welcome at AUSSIE DETERMINATION we will support and encourage you all the way. We are all on the journey for the long haul so if you can start today you will he taking your first positive step. At the top of the page you’ll see HOW IT WORKS, go there and work out your TDEE, that is cals you can eat up to on normal days, and on fast days you have 500 cals. You will not have to count cals daily but in the beginning it helps just to get an idea of how your days eating will be. In the beginning you will lose quite a bit of weight, usually a lot of fluid, but it is very inspiring and does help you to keep going. This WOE (way of eating) is so easy, so very doable and you find you really look forward to fast days. Your tastes and cravings change too. Jo my suggestion too would be go back to page one of our thread and read a few pages just to see how we began this journey and all the positive results. You will get used to tummy gurgles, think of it as fat being dissolved, and drink up to 2 litres of water on fast days, this helps if you are feeling hungry. Try to stay away from ALL white carbs too, stick with salads, veggies and soups, always add some protein, boiled egg or fish or chicken to keep you fuller for longer. Attitude goes a very long way in helping you succeed. So all the best, stick with it, try to post daily as we are here to help you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Good morning team, golly I’m up before the chooks today, very early! Fast day for most of us, YOU CAN DO IT, we have all done it before, remember how proud you feel when you get into bed tonight and you know you stuck with it. Hot soup or drinks if your feeling cold, a boiled egg to help fill you, lots of veggies for bulk, stirfry? Have a wonderful day team, you are what you think, so think positive thoughts, your day will improve for you with a positive attitude. Don’t sweat the small stuff, enjoy your life and remember how 5:2 is keeping you on a healthy path πŸ™‚ Happy day to you all …CG xxxx

    Morning everyone

Today is my 6 month anniversary on this program.

Results 18kg down nearly 60cm smaller how amazing

I have never followed a program for this long. Cannot see me eating any other way now.

    Just continue ie on everyone.

    Have a great day.

    Monday fast day.

    Morning all,
Wow Bali2015, congrats! I’ve only just started on my 5:2 journey, and found reading your post inspiring. I’m hoping I can stick with it and shed some kgs.

Fast day today. Only got 1 in last week.
Sadly, my 95yo grandma died on Friday morning. I was privileged enough to be with her until the end.
Also, my baby boy has had a tummy virus for a week now, poor thing. Which means LOTS of nappy changes, trips to the Dr, stripping cot sheets constantly, soaking clothes – I’ve never gone through so much napisan! And here we are in a new week. I’m feeling a bit… adrift now.

    But onwards we go!

Hi all. Just popping ot for a read and catch up. Everything so elloquently said about so many issues … what a great group of people are in this group.

FD today – not such a good day on saturday just gone – chips and licorice allsorts and flavoured milk as I drove to Walcha … seems driving is an issue for me – drive and eat.

I find weekends the worst – want to graze all day but at work I do well. Oh well – something that I have identified for me so need toformulate a plan to combat the issue.

Will catch up again on Friday FD.

    Morning DETERMINATORS!!!!
    WELCOME JoeeP
TESKET- hoping your little one gets better soon. Keep you and the family well . Gastro bugs are contagious …. HAND WASHING IS A MUST!

    Good morning all

So sad to hear of your loss GG and CG your son in laws and Teskat your Grandma. My thoughts are with you all xx

I am happy to read though that we all have our lapses in eating and drinking. Life is way too short not to be able to enjoy what makes us what we are.

We know that we will be back on track the next day.

I love Monday’s as i know it is a FD

WOW Bali, that is such a great result. Cannot wait until I have achieved what all you other AD’s have achieved.

    Have a great week XX

Hi all. Welcome Jo. I can only repeat what CG say, we are very supportive here and there is usually someone who can answer any questions you may have.
My sympathies to those who have lost friends or family. Suicide is an awful thing. What a terrible experience to find a colleague having hung himself. We had a similar thing happen in the small town near to where I live. A young girl hung herself. I too had a nephew who shot himself. I guess we will never understand how desperate one must be to get to that point.
Gypsy you are a kind hearted soul. Every bit of aid we can offer to those poor people in Vanuatu will be a help. I plan to do something via The Red Cross.
FD here too. I’m finding it easier to do as time goes by. I don’t have a sweet tooth so don’t usually crave for food. BUT chocolate covered liquorice logs are my downfall. I don’t even glance at the lolly shop as I walk past for fear that the temptation to buy some will be too much. Then of course I would not dream of having just one! I guess we all have our weaknesses. And strengths too of course.
    Cheers Doggy

    Hi All
I posted here a month or so back and then had a couple stay with us for 4 weeks. They cooked…and baked. They cooked pastas and pizzas and a lovely (big!) Tiramasu … that we ate for 3 nights. They have left for a while and my hubby has gone for 9 days to NZ. So i have now got my head in the right place to get back into this and then when everyone comes back I will be determined to keep going. I did a FD yesterday as tonight Im going to my daughters for dinner and tomorrow I will fast again. You have all been inspirational!

GG safe trip my friend best wishes for you to celebrate your friends life with your mates.
Gypsy, what a wonder you are, all heart, keep up the great work you are doing, we are all thinking of the poor souls in Vanauatu.
Judy, good luck this time around, very difficult to start a new way of eating with visitors in the house but you sound positive so keep up the good work
Bali, well done, I didn’t realise we had all started 6 months ago, gee that has flown, what a simple way of life we have chosen to follow and just so rewarding.
Have a great day team, if you blow out a bit, don’t worry, stick with you plan, you are still doing better than a normal day πŸ™‚ CG xxx

Morning ADΓ©rs Judyf welcome & great that you’ve been able to get your head in the right place – even with visitors. Well done! One FD down & you’re on your way.
We still haven’t any news of our missionary friends in Vanuatu on Tanna Island. Tom & Margaret have 4 kids, aged now about 8,6,4 and 2 I would think. Their mum is our friend & it must be such an agonising wait for her. Tanna is apparently flattened even the concrete houses. Praying for good news soon.
Dogsabie we have the same weakness for choc coated licorice logs – Luv them, & yes of course you can’t just buy one. Usually they’re in a large bag or box & I used to buy them with the intention of having 1/2/3 but it never stopped at that. So like you I don’t buy.
WOW 6 months to the starting members of our group. What a fantastic, encouraging and inspiring example you all are. Thank you for starting the forum – not sure if I would have continued on my own?
GG safe trip and will be thinking of you this week as you all come together.
Ruxton I think weekends are a challenge for all of us but I DO do better when I record my TDEE. Have you tried that? Then you can even work in a few wines or whatever treats you like but still won’t blow your calorie budget. And yes you got it in one when you talked about formulating a plan – that’s it, plan plan plan.
Oh Teskat sorry for your loss and that your baby’s not at all well. Well done to you for even sticking to a FD today. Plan ahead in case your day goes adrift with a sick little one – boil up some eggs, have some salad stuff cut up and ready to throw on a plate & some protein & you’re there. Hope he’s better soon. Not pleasant for you!
Bali 18kgs down and 60 cms – what a girl!!!! So inspiring for us newbies. We know this WOL works when we hear your stories.
CG have a great day. You deserve too with all the encouragement you dish out to everyone.
Welcome JoeeP starting the 5:2 journey is the best decision you’ve made. Just look on it as a lifestyle choice and then no matter how many kilos you have to lose, you just keep going until it’s done. All of us find 5:2 very doable and you will too. the first few fasts are the hardest but it’s amazing how quickly you get used to them & they’re relatively easy….trust me. Your weight loss will zigzag up and down a bit but always the trend is downwards. Keep coming back here for encouragement & support.

FD today so had my boiled egg & another ready for lunch. Then a stirfry. Have a great FD all. suejen

    Good afternoon everyone! πŸ™‚
Was busy with Vanuatu cyclone stuff at work ( I work in a aid bank)- so just got free now. on the upside, FD flew past. For all you kind-hearted souls thinking of Vanuatu at this time, thank you so much. There will be great need for assistance but it looks like that will probably be some time after the roads etc are patched up. I hope you hear from any of your friends / rellies stuck on the islands soon. Flights are resuming, and Air Vanuatu is operating. Hotels etc are that are not flattened by the cyclone are full though.
Weight stable at 77 kilos this week. But that’s ok, as Aunty Flo visited this weekend, so I had budgeted for weight gain lol

Bali and other “pioneers” – you are my inspiration. I wish I could do 18 kilos in six months – Amazing, and very encouraging to hear. At this rate I will probably hit my goal weight middle of next year, but this WOL of easy to do, I am not sure I would have stuck around so long if it had been another weight-loss program!

Big hello to all team… and ‘bye, have to run off to work now. πŸ™‚

    Hi everyone,

I’m new to this as well. I’m on my 5th fast day today and am hoping that tomorrow when I jump on the scales I’ll be back down below 100 kilos….if not tomorrow then on Friday.

I’m aiming for a lovely size 12 blue dress that’s hanging in my cupboard to fit me eventually (hence the name) and have about 30 kilos to loose. 20 of those little buggers arrived almost overnight last year when my thyroid gave up the ghost. Is anyone else 5:2ing with an under active thyroid?

    Cheers,
    BD

Hi BD and welcome, you’ll be surprised how quick and easy it is to lose weight with this way of life as well as your over all well being, you’ll be in your blue dress before you know it. You are already starting on the right path with five fasts behind you and you’ll find it gets easier with each one. We do have some members with thyroid problems and I’m sure they will follow up with replies. If you have questions of any type, and they do arise as time passes, please ask and one of the team will help you out. You wont always get instant replies of course as members go on with their life but you will be answered. Don’t forget this is a slow healthy journey but your shape will change as do your lack of cravings and you find you don’t eat as much, hence the weight loss. Enjoy this wonderful journey and again welcome…CG xxx

Good morning team. How did you all go with yesterdays fast. It does get easier as time goes on but again we are all human and sometimes life gets in the way. If you went over a tad, don’t panic or beat yourself up, you have still done better than a normal days eating and think about what you DIDN’T have! We are on this path for the long haul with many more fasts to come.
Lovely to see we are still attracting new members and team thankyou for replying to their questions as well as welcoming them. We know the WORD is spreading all the time about how wonderful the 5:2 journey is and you are all so far ahead with staring already.
Have a great day team, don’t sweat the small stuff, and “if you want to ge happy…BE”
