  • Day 2 UK NFD

Works do, great food, 3 courses, lots of alcohol. Great times such fun. WOL on hold for today.

Will be the same ish tomorrow! So I expect Sunday and Monday will be damage control FDs.

    Good luck all. X

    Georgia/USA/Day 2/ NFD:

    Hi Everyone!!

    Day 2……Florida…….FD err….NFD

Well, my intention were for it to be a FD, but one of the contractors brought in pizza, my wonderful husband brought me a latte at work, then made a wonderful crusted fish for dinner….. I have gone and lost the darn wagon…. slow down wagon please…. I’m running trying to catch up……..
Good thing, I’m able to chose what days I fast, so happy that this WOL is so flexible….
I’m looking at the bright side now….. I did manage a 17 hour fast with my a 6 hour eating window…..

Just heard a commercial with the tune “All I want for Christmas is a hippopotamus.” Now, it’s stuck rattling around in my head over and over….. Well, maybe if I sing it out loud long enough maybe I’ll get a hippopotamus for Christmas.

@patti….. I’m glad you got a chuckle out my post…. they say the best medicine for any situation in laughter…..

    @at… Fantastic quote…..

    Have a great night!

    Day 2 Portugal NFD
Hectic day, terrible control. Organized an event tonight to make Christmas wreaths. I couldn’t resist the cupcakes my daughter made nor the other nice stuff! I normally have no problem saying no but not tonight,

So please count me in for the pocket fast group starting Sunday night.

Bit of a somewhat fail FD when I got a late invitation to a xmas party with x-colleagues!!…couldn’t really resist!!

Anyway it wasn’t too bad and I did fast until the meal was served at 8.00pm, but will take it as an NFD.

Out again tomorrow evening at a 60th Birthday party so plan to fast til around 5.00pm then eat a healthy meal so that I can avoid the party food. However I will be drinking wine!

Definitely want to jon the pocket fasters for Monday and Tuesday as off to Rome on Wed with my daughter for 4 days!!

Still Day 2: Pacific NW USA, Liquid only 36 hour FD

I am SO GLAD it’s a FD. It was a pressure cooker day/week, this week end has a never ending to-do list, this month is crazy and I hate to be the one to let the cat out of the bag but the end of the year is only a few weeks away! I totally know this would have been an evening I would have sought solace from food and would already be over TDEE before I sat down! I have the strength of a FD to get me past this urge to comfort myself with food but it’s scary to recognize the power behind those old familiar reflexes that I felt as soon as I got in the car to drive home. Whew!

(Last night I used my pocket list to help me stop nibbling after 8:00 PM which is a goal I need to work on. So, thought I would let you all know I’m channeling your energy even when you don’t know it!

    Day 2 E. Canada NFD

< I have gone and lost the darn wagon…. slow down wagon please…. >

Oh Bert, I laughed so hard reading this. I’m right there with you, running after the wagon.

    *********

Today I went for a short bike ride, because it was relatively mild and there was some sun.

    Bran flakes 180, 1/2 banana 50
    BLT sandwich, 1/2, 225 and muffin 1.2 200 st 655
The other half for supper, so 425, st 1080
Almonds (yup, we’re on a roll, chase that wagon) 100, 1180
Blackberries and cream, 80 and pb 40, 1300
finishing up with a small wrap 100, for 1400
    In short, ate to TDEE

Weigh in day today. 123.5 to 125.5 This is why I need to lose another 2.5 pounds, to make sure I’m not cheating with water weight.

Fast day tomorrow. Can’t come enough.

    Day 2 – Canada – NFD

Just getting in under the wire. Not my best day so far but it’s difficult when you’re away for the weekend.

Debbie Q – thanks! I have started using MFP and forgot the abbreviation. Duh… yes it is great for calorie tracking!

    Day 2 Minnesota, USA NFD

Day 3 / Tweed Coast Australia / FD

First fasting day in over a week and it feels good to be back with the practice. It hasn’t been easy due low energy and headache from adrenal issues. Still, I’m persevering and getting through it and being as gentle as possible with myself.

    Day3 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

I’m at an event with DH today and lunch is provided, followed by a meal out with friends this evening. So plan is to try and keep track of calories and make sensible decisions. Wish me luck xx

    Day 3 – London – NFD

I’d like to join for December if it’s not too late. I’ve been fasting for parts of the day – basically skipping breakfast – for a couple of months and have lost six pounds. Finally built up to a proper liquid-only fast day last week and planning another on Sunday. Five pounds more to lose and while that’s unlikely to happen over Christmas at least I want to maintain.

    Day 3 UK NFD

Checking in early, another work do, so celebration day, will be a lot of walking today, meal out, little drinking. With lovely people,

Have a lovely day all πŸ˜€

    2nd post

Just caught up on posts and happy to see there’s a pocket group again. Starting Sunday eve. Please add me too! X πŸ˜€

Day 3 Country West Australia NFD
Have done 2 x 16:8 FDs which have worked quite well. Not liquid fasts but keeping to 500 calories on day 1 and 16:8 then small dinner last night.
Stayed under 500 calories from 8.00 pm last night until 5.30 pm today but now going to a Christmas food fair so guessing I won’t stay under 500 calories tonight!! Still hoping to come in under TDEE but will have to crunch the numbers to see when I have eaten.
Went out with friends for lunch and resisted temptation and only had a side salad with no dressing. Trying to be really strong this end off December knowing all the functions associated with food coming up in the next 3 weeks ..
Love that my appetite has reset and I can stop when feeling full as others have mentioned. Also feel full with much less food intake.
Bttf, my stomach gurgled and ‘talked’ a lot during the day after almost 2 day fast. πŸ€”
    Happy weekend.

    Day 2&3 Italy – NFD & FD
Yesterday was more like a feast day, bit of a blow out…croissant, pancakes. Feeling gassy and bloated this morning. So fast day today and tomorrow I will try to make healthy choices instead of my usual day off.

    Day 3 UK NFD

Holly LJ, it is weird that things we could once have eaten now have that effect on us. I made the unwise decision of having part of a sausage sandwich the day after a LF yesterday. The effect was indescribable on a polite forum!

We have friends staying. Lovely but challenging. They brought chocolates which are now OPEN. Have resisted so far, but drank far too much wine last night. We will have a long walk today and I will try to be more restrained.

    Happy Saturday everyone.

    Day 3, NFD, New Zealand.

Hello all day 3 UK nfd (11.6lbs 160lbs)

Just quick check in before going to pick our Christmas tree πŸŽ„

    Day 3 (2 and 1) all NFD
Have managed to catch a cold πŸ™ πŸ™
Not fasting this weekend but will be fasting on Monday, actually starting to feel a bit more motivated about keeping to this way of eating for a longer period of time. Have almost cut out all snacking and then trying to be more mindful about what I do eat.

Good luck to anyone fasting over the weekend.

    xx

    Day 3, Australia NFD

    Day 3 Brisbane Australia NFD

    Had a good NFD

Day 3…… Florida……. FD or NFD

Well, I ran just as fast as I could, I’ve caught the wagon. To be honest, it was considerably much easier than I thought it was going to be. Before 5:2, when I lost the wagon, I’d let it get so far away from me, it was impossible to catch it until it stopped and waited for me.
This time, I ran and ran, huffed and puffed and would you know it….. There it was stop and you all were waiting, smiling, laughing and waving me to hurry up and jump on….. Funny thing is, As I was running and I saw the stopped wagon, I wondered how many times before did the wagon stop just out of sight and waited…. and it was me who decided to stop running even walking and lay down in defeat.
Maybe we’re all suppose to fall, maybe we’re all suppose to run after the wagon sometimes. Maybe the falling and running is part of the lesson, we must learn about ourself. Maybe, It suppose to show us how strong we are not how weak we are as I know many of us think we are. Falling isnt a sign of weakness, it’s the not getting up that tells us who we really are.
So many times, I fell and just laid there, not moving an inch. I stayed in that position allowing all my fears, emotions and temptations to run over me in a heat of frenzy. Like a stampede of elephants, each step hitting me harder than the first.
Not this time, I saw the herd coming, there in the distance with a billowing of dust around it. Holy crap, that stampede is headed straight for me. I looked down, wiggled my toes, moved my legs…. nothing broken. Stood up dusted my self off and took off….
Now, I look back from my seat on the wagon, I realize that the stampede is now grazing in a field of chocolates and cakes and they could careless about me.

Now, I’m sure you all are wondering, after all this does she have FD or NFD at the top. The explanation is quite easy. I’m meeting a friend, I haven’t seen in years for coffee plus my sister from another mother…. lol my best friend just got back from a 2 week adventure. She and her husband were married a week before Thanksgiving 12 years ago and ever year they vacation for two weeks to celebrate their union. They arrived back home last night about 2am and I got the message…. home… dunkin at 2.
Which only means 1 thing…. they’ve arrived home safe and we’ll meet for coffee at 2.
So, I have busy day…. I’ll fast until it time to meet then see where the day takes me….
okay, I’m off…. I have to get all my house work done before I can leave.
    Cheers!

    Day 3 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Had a lovely meal out last night with OH and daughter for her birthday – despite having a couple of glasses of wine I came in under my TDEE for the day – big smiley face for me

Going out to a Jazz concert this evening which includes a meal but will try very hard to stay within my TDEE again – do not want to undo all the hard work put in to achieve my goal weight in November (well 300gms off it still at last weigh in!) Not weighing in again until Wednesday morning after Monday/Tuesday B2B FDs……..

@happymargo – hope all went well with your surgery – stay strong on the 5:2 WOL during your recovery, you can do this.
@ciren2 – Stay strong – you have got this
    @maui – as back2thefuture says
@back2thefuture – ditto regarding stomach gurgles after the 3 x B2B FDs (it was my first one!) THANK YOU for pulling us together again for Dec and for getting a report out about our November efforts
@missj2002 – good on you for holding firm
@bert1802 – I love reading your posts – you always cheer us up

Pocket fasters starting Sunday evening – good luck all – will find an inspiring quote for us……

    Day 3, London, NFD

Aim for the weekend- to stay well within TDEE.

    Day 3 USA (Utah visiting)

FD — hadn’t thought I would need a FD while on maintenance, but I am going to try for one today. I haven’t overeaten TDEE on my NFD’s but not sure if I have had enough exercise.

    Onward and downward!

The pocket rockets at the minute aka the dirty dozen lol

    Bert πŸ˜‚

    2nd post
Just checking in at my dangerous o’clock. I have just sneaked a little square of chocolate in and this could get messy. So here I am and Bert, you saved me. Thanks! Instead I shall have a glass of water, a cup of tea and get some Christmas Cards written (sorry Ciren2!) while my little one is sleeping off the last of her stomach bug.
Don’t know what I’d do without you all…actually I do, I’d be a lot fatter than I am!

    Day 3, NFD, Canada

Lol Bert, good analogy. It is something I am learning on this WOL that MUST be the key to long term success – when our plans go awry,”just keep on keeping on”.

UK day 3 NFD,as was yesterday but a “good” one, aiming to stay under TDEE today which will be a challenge as off out for dinner , want to add myself to the pocket rockets but for some bizarre reason my iPads not letting me copy & paste, I’ll try and work it out when I’ve got a bit more time tomorrow .

    Day 3 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

@pocket Fasters – Does the fasting start tomorrow morning or after the last meal on Sunday? And when does it finish?

I’m seriously thinking of joining but I can’t find the post where it gives this info.

I think it might be just what I need πŸ™‚

    xoxo

Day 3 Surrey UK NFD We start after last meal on Sunday, don’t we? And keep going till Wednesday as I understand it.
Feeling very lonely at present, for all sorts of reasons which I can’t voice to my family because I don’t want them to worry…so sorry, virtual friends, unloading negative emotions on you all!
Remembering a quote from the ancient Sanskrit teachings…’Step by step, at each step there is that which is conducive for the next step..’ so only the next step is visible.
@at love your quotes, @coda you are always a fount of wisdom, @bert I suspect a lifetime of experience behind your words….could go on and on about each of us on here and truly grateful for you all.

    Day 3 – London, Uk – NFD

Off to a 60th Birthday party, been good today, so far, and just had a lovely healthy veg stir-fry to help me avoid the party food. However will not be avoiding the wine!

Check in tomorrow with some sort of damage control for next couple of days and a catch up with all the posts so far for inspiration!!

    Day 3– Colorado, USA- NFD

Already had breakfast with DH & have plans for dinner, so NFD. Will skip lunch though.
Because of needing food with my post-op meds, full liquid Fasts will be out of the question. for now But I can still easily cut out random meals here & there (to reduce frequency of insulin surges.)

So glad I successfully got my first b2b FD’s under my belt. Now I *know* I can do it! Once I’m fully back onto 5:2 or 4:3, I’ll be eager to do a 2 or 3 day Fast again.

Oh yes the pocket fasters are playing Monday to Wednesday, that’s my damage control of course!!!

    2nd post

I came on line to stop myself eating as feeling peckish – I’m going out to a jazz evening including a candle lit dinner later so trying to steer clear of grazing atm – cup of tea at the ready as I type

@goldensun – as NorrieB says I believe we start Sunday evening and aim to finish Wednesday AM is doing 2 x B2B FDs – we all support each other through this so welcome aboard.

@norrieb – you are not alone – we are here for you – great big virtual hug coming your way – can you feel it – look after yourself.

    Namaste

Day 3, USA, Missouri Ozarks, Non-Fasting

Hello all, cool day here but not unbearable – plan to get out the big red bows and put them on the white pipe corral gates around the property and the front and back porch pillars, about twenty or so. Also have a black wrought iron obelisk, naturally shaped as a tall triangle so I wrap clear lights around it and it makes a perfect lighted tree in the front garden. Won’t do the tree and inside stuff until the middle of the month.

Trying to eat a little more, weight is a little lower than I prefer. I don’t want to quit my M, Tu, Wed fasting as that works so well during the work week. I will just have to eat a little more on the other days.

Wishing you all a great day.

    Day 3 | Pune, India | NFD

I intended it to be an FD but didnt work out that way. It is difficult for me to fast on Sat / Sunday when I am home the whole day. Will have to plan more.

A very funny thing happened to me today. I am a daily weigher. I weigh myself on our old digital display scale that we have since some 7-8 years. I went and stood on it early in the day, and what do I see, the scale showed 70kg! when it was 74.7 yesterday! I almost had a heart attack due to the joy! … and then reality kicked in, πŸ™ and I realized the scale was acting up(Battery must be running low). so I reset it and weighed myself again… and sad to report the weight has stubbornly stayed at 74.7. But for those few moments… man I was in the weight loss heaven!! anyway I take it as a harbinger of good things to come! and onward – downward I march …

Still wondering if I will be able to do a b2b fast on Monday. I would surely like to try. I will confirm by tomorrow.

Day 3, Gloucestershire, UK: NFD. Another hard day at the Christmas post (it’s ok HollyLJ!)
I ate a good breakfast at 5.30 am and kept away from all food until I got home at 3pm. Very large (but healthy) salad, followed by stewed apple and berries with cream and then lots of walnuts and almond flakes. I DO try to eat healthy food now….but like lots of it!
NorrieB: Have a big virtual hug from me. Don’t feel lonely and sad. xx

    2nd post:

Thank you for all the well-wishes you sent me! My surgery went quite well…. now it’s just time, patience & physical therapy to heal & mend those bones!! πŸ™‚

Lizzi– Welcome aboard! Basically what you described (skipping breakfast each day) some refer to as 16:8. That is: 16 hours of fasting, followed by an 8 hour eating window (for lunch & dinner.) That pattern’s been quite effective for me as well!
(Sounds like lilymartin is finding success using 16:8 also!)

B2tF & lilymartin– I just came off 2 day Fast (Thurs & Friday) too. Woke up at 1:30 AM with my tummy gurgling & rumbling quite loudly! Made me giggle a bit…I wasn’t worried because I knew I’d be having breakfast in just a few hours with DH. Plus, I’ve never in my life eaten during the middle of the night & sure don’t want to start now! πŸ™‚

Sarah– houseguests def add an extra little Challenge to fasting. Many guests like to celebrate with food & snacks, plus restaurant meals out. Plus, I’ve received comments when they see me skip a meal. Stay strong!

Bert– I’d count chasing down the wagon as HIT exercise for the day!! πŸ™‚ Glad the stampede didn’t catch you. Well done.

Manura– my scales also pulled a fast one on me this week…but in the wrong direction.
It told me I weighed 302.1 Lbs at 46.3% today fat. Yikes! Shock!!! My actual stats are 145 lbs at 21% today fat. Time for new batteries here too!

    Day 13, Gozo, Malta, NFD

Today I didn’t have anything with my coffee and milk this morning as I’m going out tonight for dinner with my three daughters to celebrate my youngest daughter s birthday and the husbands are taking care of the grandchildren. Tomorrow we celebrate together with a three course meal which I’ve prepared today NFD continue cooking tomorrow my daughter s birthday. She wanted a homemade red velvet cake which I made today. For a starter we’re having roasted pumpkin soup which is already ready and for main course we’re having spatchcock poussins with whiskey and orange marinade which is in the fridge marinating and which will be cooked tomorrow plus roasted potatoes and shredded cabbage.

For lunch it was fried rump steak, egg in a little olive oil and boiled vegetables.

    Happy Saturday everyone. Stay strong.

    Day 2 WA USA NFD

First off, also want to send virtual (((hugs))) to NorrieB. Also saying a prayer.

Yesterday I planned to be a FD and it would have been a 500 FD if I wouldn’t have added the chocolates sprinkled on the tables liberally at the staff Bunco party. It’d say I probably ate 300 calories worth of small chocolates. So it was probably a 800 calorie day. The encouraging thing was that I decided to weigh myself this morning and I hadn’t gained weight.

About the next pocket fasting, I think Coda mentioned doing 2 days B2B and maybe on to a 3rd. I’m on board for the 2 & will see if I continue on to the 3. Still learning things and feeling things out in this WOL especially through this holiday season.

    2nd comment.

Bert – I appreciate the chuckle as I vizualize your wonderful word pictures. After you dusted yourself off, you probably needed a shower before meeting up with your friend. In my head I was seeing you dusted off and heading straight out.

And thanks for the lessons tucked in with the humor/humour. πŸ™‚

    Day 3 | NFD | Bucks UK

    Day 3. Sussex U.K.
    NFD.
NorrieB – Hang on in there. Be kind to yourself.
Ciren, are you up for the b2b, Sunday evening to weds morning?

    Day 3|NFD| Toronto
Yikes! The annual feedathon starts tonight with a dinner prior to a concert.
