  • 2nd post….hey Coda…you are right..day 28. Its been a busy weekend..I dont know whether I’m coming or going 😄

    Day 28 | FD | Bucks UK

My 12yr old sabotaged my day off… lost keys, forgotten P.E. kit, I stayed at home sulking. Glad I’ve stayed on course foodwise
    Good luck b2b fasters x

Day 28: Pacific NW USA, 1st of 2 FD’s with my pocket-ful of friends (list out of pocket and Brighton added!) I’m going for a liquid only with cream in coffee, white tea and water.

All you sending us b2b’ers good wishes, thanks! It just goes to say how truly amazing it is to be able to read and feel the added strength and positive resolve that we get from each other!

Ciren – you gave us the original inspiration for the pocket of supporters so you are still in my pocket!

Lael – you will be able to PT here assignments behind you very soon, ah-h-h!

Norrie – love the HenryV quote, made me laugh, thanks for the positive message

Bert – I know about the detractors, even my doctor brother thinks I’m going to break something if don’t eat breakfast as soon as I wake up, and for me that’s the way asiest part of a FD!

therealwil (and K-lo) – our “challenge” each month is about keeping on, not giving in to negative judgement and to learn about what does and does not work for us. You are not defeated if you are still here!
    =====================

Action/Mike – we’re staying on this same thread during Dec so as to not overwhelm my accounting system during the overly busy month, she glad you will add to the quotes and humor we will need!

and … exhale – we will look forward to seeing you again in January!

Anna – yes, maintain with us in Dec

JFitzy – will you be joining us on this same thread for Dec?

Sorry about deja vu post – fingers acting on their own!

    Day28/NFD/Georgia
Missed a day I believe from signing on but I’m still holding on and pushing forward .. I’m grateful for this challenge because it has challenged me to stay true to myself

Hi – the ham from the shank was too hard to resist so as well as the bone/ham broth I measured out 6 ozs of ham to eat. Off course if I had looked cals up first I may only have had 4 ozs ha ha but still below 500. Was a bit surprised 6 ozs estimated 237! So my total for day is 428

Australia Day 29 NFD – yesterday” FD went okay in the end. I stayed under my 500 cals. I have a business lunch today which is a set meal event so I’ll just have to try and eat around the bad stuff. My apologies to the group for not contributing properly this last couple of weeks. I have just been overwhelmed with the issues around my brother and the office move. Thanks again for the support and advice re my brother- it really helped.

Day 29 Sunshine Coast Australia Day 29: FD b2b : Had all liquids yesterday except for 1 almond that I picked up and popped into my mouth mindlessly. Also had broth at lunch and broth at dinner. I have broth prepared for today. Will go and start my day shortly with a coffee. Every day starts with a long black which I enjoy out on the back verandah, looking over the paddocks to the hills beyond. Just serene. Lots of bird sounds. My exercise today will be going up and down stairs to the laundry and continuing with vacuuming, dusting (where does it all come from????) and window cleaning. Yes, it is spring cleaning with only 2 days of spring left so had better get into it.

Kids have a way of doing that, MissJ2002. The best laid plans of mice and men……

If strength in numbers is true, then we have this in the bag. We do have to be beware of the ‘experts’ ( old saying ‘ex’ is an unknown quantity and ‘spert’ is a drip under pressure lol).

Hi Hannah, we are on the same page at the same time. Lovely to see you there. Like bumping into an old friend. Glad the office move is done and hope you are managing your feelings about your brother and his issues. I’m thinking positive thoughts for you and hope they generate positive feelings for you when you read this. You do what you can do and then keep yourself in a good place. This can be a joyous time of year but can be super tough as well. A new day, a fresh page. Big hugs xxx

I see you were also writing at the same time as Hannah and myself, Coda. It’s not all that late in the UK as yet. It’s 6:20am here. That coffee beckons. Ham shank, lamb shank….they are my favourite meats, all sticky and yummy. I’d be in there with you. I can smell my daughter and her OH making bacon and eggs. Smells wonderful, but even though I am salivating, will go and have that coffee. Gotta love this group. List in yesterday’s pocket. Had better go and retrieve it.

    Day 28 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

    Day 28 | Derbyshire UK | NFD

Can’t remember if I’ve already posted this so thought better safe than sorry! I’m pondering b2b fasts tomorrow and weds inspired by everyone who has fasted mon and Tuesday. I’ll let you know how I get on but anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome.

    Good luck everyone xxx

    Day 29 | Melbourne | FD

Hanging in there – not feeling at all hungry this morning – Big Thanks to all the supporters!

Just to clarify – I usually weigh myself once/week first thing in the morning. Should I weigh on the morning of 1 December, to capture the full 30 days’ worth and that is my final figure? (hehehe no pun intended!)

    Onward and Downward All 🙂

Day 28. NJ USA NFD. Disaster. Whatca week – blew the whole month!

    Day 28 – Canada – FD

So far so good today. Nothing to eat but soon I will have a green salad with a slice of turkey. Still have a lot more water to drink today though.

    Day 28 – FD, London

Today was my third week of fasting and really struggled today (have eaten around 800kcal) instead of 500 – thought I was going to pass out so had something else to eat above my main meal in the night.

Am kicking myself now but it’s too late 😔 Will carry one and try and stay motivated – next fast is Wednesday and I may do Thursday as well to make up for today. Also felt very very cold – much more the usual!! Just got to keep on going – regardless of the poor days… I think!

    Day 28 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

    Day28 FD Portugal

Quick check in this evening. Great FD today, plus a 6k walk. Hope it has gone well today for all b2b fasters, all the best for tomorrow.

    Day 28….Florida…. FD

Just a quick check in…. FD going well. A bit hungry after work but enjoying a nice cup of coffee while I watch the boys hang the outside lights. It’s really beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, minus the snow.
I’m proud to report that I actually made it to work on time today! I’m hoping this will become a trend…. I know I’ve been talking about being late all the time for work, I’m sure your all wondering why I haven’t gotten fired yet. Well, I have issues with doors… actually it’s call OCD. I have problems with them being open. Drives me crazy. Sometimes well most of the time, it makes me late because I have to go back to make sure I didn’t leave any open. My bosses know this and understand, sometimes I drive them crazy because I’m always shutting them when I see them open.
Okay anyways, didn’t mean to show you my crazy side but I’m okay with it.
Well, time for dinner nice roast chicken and potatoes. And a nice walk after dinner! My kind of night!
P.S….. to all the b2bf…. your all in my prayers tonight for 2 successful days

    Day 28 UK FD

Good day today, felt hungry but last couple of days, motivation kicked in. Want a good end result.

Day 29 West Australia. Possible b2b 2nd FD.
Yesterday’s FD went well. Didn’t manage just liquids but stayed below 500 calories. Hats off to those who manage on liquids only. Was thinking of you all, yesterday, even though you weren’t in my pocket.☺️
Choir practice for Christmas for a couple of hours immediately after work finishes is a great help. No time to eat and then time for bed when I finally get home ( live in the country so a 20 minute drive from town.)
Trying for a b2b FD today but will have to see. Feeling a bit washed out already and faint headache just lurking ….. and cooking roast lamb with all the trimmings for DH for lunch so hoping ‘won’t power’ is stronger than my ‘will power’.
Empathising with all those struggling ATM but don’t forget it IS a journey and most journeys are not all plain sailing, always a few bumps in the road. ( Why do we speak of journeys as ‘ plain sailing’ and not ‘plain driving’ or ‘ plain riding’ or ‘plain flying’ ?? Just curious …)

Still Day 28: Pacific NW USA, evening of 1st b2b FD

I’m sure my unusual carb intake over this past 5 day Thanksgiving bread and pie extravaganza is making this a more difficult FD than normal for me. Liquid only so far and I reach in my pocket every time I think about food (thank you fellow fasters!)

I also reached for Fung, et al for advise and videos to help get me over this 1st day hump from the dietdoctor LCHF web site. I found this hint which I’m going to try:

“Many believe that the less salt you eat, the better. That’s wrong. An appropriate amount of salt is the best. And a lot of the salt that people eat comes from food that you avoid on a low-carb high-fat diet: junk food, ready-made food, bread, you’ll automatically get less salt. You can also lose more fluid and salt on low-carb high-fat compared to a high-carb diet, which often causes fluid retension and bloating. So you’ll lose more salt. Now what happens if you become salt deficient? You get tired, you get unfocused, you might develop a headache and lack energy for exercise. Now there’s a simple way to both test and cure the problem at the same time. You can dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a big glass of water and drink it and if you feel better within 15 minutes, if your headache goes away, or if you have much more energy, decide to exercise or have more mental clarity, then you were probably suffering from a salt deficiency. You can then repeat it daily.”

    I’ll report back!

Day 29, FD, New Zealand. What a coincidence that you posted about salt just now, b2tf! For the first time this month, I’ve opted to have a small miso soup at 1pm because I was feeling a little weak by day 2 B2B. And about a week ago I had excruciating calf cramp in the middle of the night. I never get muscle cramps so it was quite painful. At the time I wondered if it was salt deficiency. And I didn’t want to be writhing on the ground at work today. I figure miso might be quite salty. So, thanks for posting – really helpful. Otherwise all going well.

    Day 29 – New Zealand – NFD

    Day 28– Colorado, USA– FD

Couldn’t log in at work all day, so now have loads of posts to catch up on.

Must say, every time I felt a bit weak today during Fast, I simply thought of this group & didn’t want to let the back-to-backers down. Definitely helped me stay tough!

Thanks to you all for the “virtual support.”

2nd post. Sitting drinking a cup of black tea and hoping to last ’til tonight. Have read all the posts and thinking of the group does help but the aroma of lamb roasting is wafting over and it smells so enticing …..

Still Day 28 and extra salt intake seems to have stalled the headache that was coming on. Now I’ve caught up on reading everyone’s very supportive musings, I’m happy to be fasting, although I can also smell the lamb roasting at Lily’s house. I am definitely braising lamb shanks this weekend! See, that’s what’s great about our WOL, we don’t have to say never, just later and in moderation.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow, usually the 2nd day of b2b fasting is easier for me than the first. The test will be a busy day at work when I have a big project to get finished.

Coda – knowledge is power and thanks to MFP and the like we can know the truth about ham (Ha!)

Hannah – we are just glad whenever you can check in with us.

Fuvvie – your explanation of expert made me laugh and OH too!

Biddie – it’s your choice about when you want to report your changes in weight for Nov. If you want to report on Dec 1 that’s fine because it will still be Nov 30 here in the US anyway. (I weigh myself once a week after a FD because I think it keeps all the variables as consistent as possible so I will weigh in on Nov 30 after our b2b’s.)

Itsmyturn – Maybe hindsight has given you some thoughts about how you would like to make some changes going forward but this month is not blown if you learned something! In our WOL it’s never too late to put one foot in front of the other in a new direction (presumably headed away from the pantry and refrigerator!)

LEW – it is funny to me too that I haven’t looked at dietdoctor.com for months and then tonight navigated to a bit about salt when I think I needed it.

    Day 28 – Los Angeles – NFD
Yesterday’s fast went well but scale has been sticky. Overall very happy but a little nitpicky I guess.

Good luck all and stay strong. December is almost here.
    MB

    Day 28 NYC NFD

I was meant to do a b2b fast ( today and yesterday) but i realized I had a small surgery tomorrow so thought I probably shouldn’t.
Ate to my TDEE would have been good to do 2 days fast for the last few days of nov… but I will fast on Wednesday the actual last day of November so hope HOPE i have met my goal for this month!

    I will continue in December.

I am doing fertility treatment for egg freezing, so I think all the medication is not helping since it is supposed to cause weight gain, at least the fast diet is keeping the increased weight gain in control. It was just increasing by the second as I continued while not on the Fast Diet.

It is rather TMI, so I apologize but I would be curious if anyone has had a similar experience.

    Thank you!

    Day 29 | Derbyshire UK | FD

    Day 29, Australia FD

Good job everyone!! It’s been good to think about everyone else doing b2b’s together. I’ve been really hungry today so I have been thinking of you all.
Interesting about the salt B2tf, I think I’ll add more salt to my veg soup for dinner that might be just what I need. Also off to drink a litre of water too.
Keep going everyone b2b fasting or not!

    Day 29 UK NFD

BTTF, very interesting discussion on salt. It is so good to have that reinforced. I struggled a bit yesterday. Probably should have had that veg bouillon. Best wishes to all those on the second day of b2b and to everyone else.

    Day 29 – Staffordshire UK – FD

My last fast day of month hopefully it will go well. I will weigh in on 1st Dec for the end of this challenge and start of the next. X

    Day 29 UK FD

Checked in late last night but early today. Another FD.

Whilst doing this diet I unintentionally started a food diary, something that I previously “couldn’t be bothered to do”😀, anyway I wanted to share what I have noticed, and I know we are all different but I found it interesting.

I would jot down what I ate in a diary, then randomly if feeling good and energetic or not hungry I would jot that down too, (no rules in my food journal) just as and when, alternatively when I felt hungry, heavy and uncomfortable.

    Results-.

Pasta – had twice both times felt heavy and uncomfortable and tired – either do not have or portion control required.

Soup – ok if with a roll or bread, if on own hungry later unless chunky veg soup, then not hungry later.

Eggs – scrambled or Omelette, full up longer, full of energy later, not hungry 😀

Alcohol – made me hungry and very thirsty the next day – be prepared with good food and lots of water.

Bread – if feeling particularly hungry or light headed, good to have slice of toast. Although sometimes makes me feel tired so jury’s still out on this one.

Chicken and veg – stayed full, energy, not hungry later 😀

These are just my brief analysis after 2 weeks. So eggs and chicken are my friend! Always have eggs on FDs, I like one main meal, usually egg on toast or omelette and salad.

Also noted, when cold have a bath!

Sip warm lemon water all day has positive affect.

Exercise, energy after and also has positive affect on how my eating pans out I.e will not undo the good work.

Thought I would share, hope some find this helpful. Others will have different results.

Have a good penultimate November challenge day 👍

    Day 29 – Switzerland – NFD

Feeling much better after a determined FD yesterday. I have to confess that even after 18mths of paying close attention to my body and the food it needs, it still astonishes me how efficiently I store excess calories as extra weight. And how grudgingly my body lets go of them when I demand it. I’ll weigh in tomorrow to round off the month, and mark it all down to experience.

On a jollier note, I was looking up old photos of the kids on my phone, and it randomly produced a little presentation (with music?!) of pictures of me over the last five years. And you can really tell that I’ve lost weight, especially around the face. I don’t usually like photos and dive out of them if anyone lifts a camera, but this little bunch really showed a difference, and I should bear that in mind even when I’m feeling a bit defeated.

    Enjoy breaking your fast b2b-ers!

UK day 29 FD,one down one to go and feeling confident. Obviously I’d like to lose some weight this month but I’m finding those last few pounds really are difficult to shift and at my age I dont think it’s necessarily a bad thing to do it slowly, on a positive I feel the fittest and healthiest I have in years and although I hate having my photo taken it is nice to be able to see the positive results .Thanks for all the virtual support fellow b2b ers .Onwards…….

    Day 29, Gozo, Malta, NFD

Thanks back2thefuture I’ll maintain with you in December.

Today is a nfd for me. I had two mini light cheese and sun dried tomato muffins with two white coffees for breakfast. Will have baked chicken leg with red peppers and potatoes for lunch and something light for supper. That will keep me within my TDEE if I take small to moderate portions.

Today my second daughter is duty and on call in the afternoon, evening and night at the hospital so I’ll babysit until 8.00 pm when her husband takes over.

    Stay strong everyone.

    Day 29. Sussex U.K.
    NFD.

Hi, are you doing a December challenge. I’m only a couple of weeks in and would love to join you.

    Day 29 – Cumbria UK – FD

Great Yoga class last night – slept well and woke up feeling really refreshed and raring to go.

Going for a 6 mile walk soon – lovely frosty morning here but blue skies starting to appear so hopefully sunshine soon….

1st FD yesterday went well – lots of fluids and kept below my 500cals – thinking about doing this second FD as a fluid only day – have some home made chicken soup in the fridge – will see how the day goes

I have another Yoga class tomorrow morning so planning on breaking my fast after the class with a hopefully light and healthy brunch meeting with a friend

Fascinating to hear from the B2B group who are finishing earlier than those of us in the UK due to the time difference – it is really encouraging and motivating for those of us on the last stretch……..

I am going down south to visit old friends on the 7/12 for a week – I am hoping that staying with the December group should keep me accountable to maintain my November weight loss and not undo all the hard work I put in over November.

We all talk about reaching a plateau in our journey and sometimes struggling to get moving downward again but we all eventually move on so I thought I would share this little gem I came across the other day
“When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of “rehearsal” for maintenance isn’t the worst thing in the world.”

I’m off to get ready for my walk hoping to stay strong today
    Namaste

    Day 29… Florida….. NFD

    Good Morning my loves,

Today, is my last weigh in day for Nov. When I started this journey, it was to feel better about my size, to feel healthier and have more energy oh, and to lose some weight. This week, I lost 1.6lbs with a total of 9lbs all together.

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs during the month, days where I was on cloud 9 and others where I could have given up. I want to thank each and everyone one of you for being there to celebrate, give guidance and even support.

Just knowing you have friends and people going through those same trails and tribulations even if they are standing right next to you or miles even ponds away from you, helps in concurring your worst day or toasting them on a day of success.

    I thank you!

On Dec. 1st, I’ll weigh myself for the beginning of the challenge and to post new goals.
    Keep up the great work…….

    Day 29 Italy – FD
Nailed my first Fast day yesterday but, my tummy is really rumbling now! I’m making myself a cup of tea and I might even try and have an afternoon nap to get past dangerous o’clock.
Sorry I missed some posts, my little girl is poorly and I can’t get a look in at the iPad!
Bert I have the same OCD thing with doors but, by default. Since my little girl was about 2 it drives her crazy if there is a door left open and I have to close them or she goes into total meltdown! Now it bothers me too and I close them of my own accord! It does get embarrassing when I have to explain that shops and bars like to keep their doors open and that maybe we shouldn’t close them. Wonder if she’ll always be like this. Are you OCD about other things? She has to line things up perfectly straight and hates things even slightly out of line!
Thankyou pocket fasters, I wouldn’t have gotten this far without you all and really hope I can make it until tomorrow morning. Will no doubt be about later for more moral support!

US SC Day 29 NFD. Successfully completed my 2 btb fast days. Just having a cup of coffee but not hungry for breakfast yet so will hold off closer to lunch to eat. I will try for another one tomorrow. Happily I dropped what I gained during my food fest last week but overall for the month of November hoping to not have gone up.

Rain woke me at 4:20 a.m. First rain we have had here since September. I really hope this will help with fighting all the fires in the mountains in NC and here … our air quality is so poor at the moment as the smoke blows with the wind.

Have a good day all land stay strong b2b fasters.

    HollyLJ,
Other things used to bother me…. cleaning was a big thing, lights being on and being barefoot. But, I worked on it… only because I was starting to have an effect on my kids. So, I started small I purposely left a dirty cup in the sink. Oh my I can remember it like it was yesterday. I stood at that sink for hours resisting the urge to clean it. I finally wore my self out and fell asleep right there in the kitchen. I woke up, the cup was there still and nothing happened. Nothing bad at least.. I kept doing it until I felt comfortable not doing something. The door thing has me and I have yet to break it. I can walk around barefoot but not in public. The airport is the worst, I have to wear 6 pairs of socks just to get through security.
The other things, I noticed is that I forget to do important things because of it like forget to feed the dog, water the garden or take the trash to the curb. I don’t do it on purpose but the other things consume my thoughts, so I rely on alarm clocks for reminders
I noticed my youngest was starting with the cleaning thing, that’s when I made the effort to try and over come it because I wasn’t sure if it was becoming a learned behavior or OCD itself. So, far he’s still extremely clean but can leave it, if he has too.

Your daughter still can lead a very happy and productive life with OCD, and the best gift you can give her is how to use time management.

Day 29– Colorado, USA– FD (first attempt at b2b!)

Yesterday’s FD went well. Didn’t manage to do it as liquid-only, had a dinner with DH, but kept food to 500 cals. I’d be thrilled to keep today’s FD to liquids, but will still be quite pleased if I stay below 500 cals again.

I was SO hungry after work, I wanted to swing by McDonald’s drive-thru window for french fries & Diet Coke (“No one will even know!”) But I ran the list of forum teammates thru my head & skipped the fast food trap!

I even managed to skip the poisonous Diet Coke. I have a terrible addiction to it. Especially the fountain soda at McD’s (not bottled or can.) My LAST ONE was last Wednesday Nov. 23rd. Had awful headaches stopping it. Still miss it so much, but I know it’ll get easier!

You all give me strength!! Thank you!

    Georgia/USA/Day 29/NFD:

Thanks for the encouragement back2thefuture. I needed to hear that. I’m still 1 pound over my starting weight for the month, but I’m not where I was when I started this journey. Trying to keep my head up! Onwards and downwards! I’m not giving up. December here I come! Have a great day everyone!

Day 29 USA (Illinois) – NFD

Holding my maintenance weight. Traveling with daughter and granddaughters to Utah for a week with them. Sometimes I fast on travel days, but with them today, I won’t try to. This next hour will be interesting getting them up and moving and out of here.

Hang in there, all you fasters – our WOL signals success! Onward and downward! 😁

    Day 29, NFD.

My fast day yesterday did not go according to plan- due to an unscheduled hospital trip, the anxious waiting around, 6 vials of blood, etc. Never mind, I forgive myself, ha-ha.

So will have to fast tomorrow, and will weigh in on 1 Dec.

Been too lazy to log in recently, so here’s a 4-day entry
    Day 26, London UK, NFD
    Day 27, London UK, NFD
    Day 28, London UK FD
    Day 29, London UK, NFD

Have a slight cold and haven’t been going to the gym much since Thursday. However, I did go today and now that I’m 5kg lighter, my running intervals were so much easier and quicker today; I feel lighter, faster and younger. It seems that rest is good for you.
