  • Day 27 NFD West Australia
Hello everyone on this beautiful sunny Sunday!! FD went fine yesterday until I took my 90 yo mum out for coffee and she wanted to buy me … cake!! Enjoyed a lovely piece of passionfruit cheesecake with her and a coffee. Home to dinner with family which I prepared – cold meat and salad, but it WAS 36C and hot.
Cooking a birthday meal for FIL for lunch. Can smell the Jerk Chicken cooking as I write, plus yet more salads. My family is eating extremely healthily this month by default. Well I AM the cook…
Happy fasting or feasting today everyone.

    Still Day 26 NFD

    Have kept to TDEE.

Just stopped getting hte emails so thought I’d post a 2nd post & again click to notify my of follow-ups.

    Day 27, Australia NFD

AT I’m in for b2b fasts Monday and Tuesday too.

Day 26 – Los Angeles -NFD
Normal day today but fast tomorrow. Looking forward.

    Day 27 : Melbourne : NFD

Day 26: Pacific NW USA, NFD, 2 meals, at TDEE

A little post-holiday let down saying good-bye to my 94 yo Mom tonight. We will have an early Christmas together with family but still it tugs every time I leave.

AT – add my name to the Mon-Tues b2b fasting team with weigh-in on Wed. I love the way we can spontaneously form an ad hoc committee from around the world! Did anyone write down the list so we can follow in Ciren’s footsteps and carry the names in our pockets? I have AnneMarilyn, Coda, Lou Belles, me and AT so far. Anyone else?

S1u2 – you’re back! Glad to see your name pop up again!

Sarah – stupendous Nov results. You will help our totals!

MissJ – this forum is about kangaroos caring for yourself (OK, that was auto correct at work, I had to leave it, LOL) Glad you are taking good care of yourself!

    =======================
The November spread sheet is very near it’s right hand margin, only a few days to go! On Wed I will add up our total weight changes when you tell me what yours have been for the month. I will also print out the names of all of you who have been here the last half of Nov and we will carry on Dec 1st as a brand new Day 1.

    Back2theFuture, that’s who I have for the B2B so far for M & T – you, AT, LouBelles, Coda, & me.

BTW I would love to continue into December.

    Day 26 NFD Italy
Had a healthy day yesterday, within my TDEE. Today is my day off but, will try not to go off the rails.
I would like to try a b2b Fast with you all, I’ve never done one before but, I have a busy day on Monday and should be able to get through it if I have you all with me in my pocket!

    Day 27, Gozo, Malta, NFD

I finished my mincemeat and cranberry Christmas cake and now it only needs to bake. I’ll be making some orange muffins especially for my son later on today.

Had a a homemade muffin this morning for breakfast as it’s Sunday and I was 62.5 kilos this morning the lowest I have ever been since starting 5:2. I ordered some Chinese food takeaway today as I’m not cooking but intend to have something light for supper this evening.

We’re going to the 11.00 o’clock mass in another village today.

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

    Day 27 London UK NFD

    Day 27 UK NFD

I am looking after my 3 year old grandson today so cookie making may feature. I will certainly be avoiding too much cookie eating though.

Have a great day everyone x

Day 27, NFD, New Zealand. I am genuinely looking forward to mon and tues FDs. Succumbed to ice cream for dessert tonight and was even tempted to mindlessly nibble on chocolate while watching TV – then I remembered all you guys on here. Thanks for the support, everyone!

I am starting a water fast for 40 days. I am 210 pounds. I am starting today sunday November 27, who wants to join me????

    Day 27 UK NFD

Please add me to December list, this “way of living” is really working for me. (May have mentioned this already).

Also up for the B2B fasts Monday and Tuesday and weigh in Wednesday to complete the month.

Good FD yesterday, going to have a good NFD today, positive thinking. 😀

    Linda40,

I hope youre doing that fast with medical supervision. 1-4 days, no problems. Longer than that you really need to be supervised and have electrolytes, minerals etc. replaced by someone who knows what their doing.

Day 27- Cumbria UK – NFD

Another glorious sunny winter’s day in Cumbria – how lucky am I to live in such a beautiful part of the world!

I think I managed to keep within my TDEE despite going out for a great Thai meal last night with the OH – definitely planning to trying to stay within my TDEE today – strong mind and strong body………

@back2thefuture – thank you for the advice for over December
@linda40 – please get medical advice before starting a 40 day Water only Fast – it is not something to be undertaken lightly
@sarah57 – well done on the weight loss
@missj2002 – I can commiserate re your Dad – lost my darling mum 2 years ago in September – at the time I found this quote that I had engraved on their gravestone as I found it helpful at the time to cope with my loss – “Death leaves a heartache no one an heal. Love eaves a memory no one can steal.” I hope it may resonate with you too. And a huge WELL DONE to your successful return to the 5:2 Way of Life since September.

So glad to have the company of the following for the Back to Back FDs on Monday and Tuesday – @annemarilyn, @back2thefuture, @loubelles, @coda, @hollylj, @lew and @lynzm – If I have missed anyone out please let us know and we would be glad to have the support of anyone else wishing to join us for a last hurrah in this November Challenge.

    Namaste

Hi everyone day 27 UK nfd
OK have the names so far for our b2b fasts written down to carry with me.

Linda40 have I got that right you are trying a 40 day water fast which will take you over Christmas- or is that a typo? While after starting to read the complete guide to fasting prolonged fasts can be done but I would say only with Dr’s supervision.

    2nd post

after looking at linda40’s previous posts of which there are none not sure who or why? Vaguely remember someone else coming on and suggesting something similar never to be heard of again. Strange!

    D27, Melbourne, Australia, FD
Didn’t intend today to be FD but after a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado and sautéed mushrooms I wasn’t hungry for anything for the rest of the day. Ate a small amount of cream cheese in the evening. The increased fat (good fats) really kept the hunger under control and got me into fat burning mode.
Will have my last weigh in tomorrow morning for Nov challenge.
Good luck all for the last few days – make them count.

    Day 27 Brisbane Australia NFD
The dreaded silly season has begun – had to go to a bday party today (have 4 close family bdays in December & then there is all the Christmas gatherings). Will power wasn,t with me & I succumbed to a couple of drinks & nibbles. Think I am going to struggle in Dec. thank goodness for this group & the support that will be there in DEc.

    Day 27 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

    Day 27 USA (Illinois)

    NFD today

Dinner last night with the picky eaters went very well, and my TDEE for the day was good until I had that 2nd glass of White Zin… sure did taste good and kind of a celebration with 2 daughters here with me. Today ought to be pretty easy to manage calories. There is leftover salmon, a South Beach diet recipe that is very low carb. No leftover green bean amandine – it was a big hit! Besides the almonds, it also had roasted garlic and crumbles of blue cheese.

My Fitness Pal also keeps track of sodium and fats. He’s going to hate my love of salty items!

Off to play piano for church — have a great day, everyone. Onward and downward!

    Day 27…. Florida…..NFD

Quick question……. For the Dec. challenge are we starting a new thread or continuing on the Nov. I just want to make sure I’m continuing in the right place. This is the only thing that kept me going especially when I was barely hanging on…..

So, against my better judgement I ventured out into the retail world. Only because I pulled out the advent wreath and realized I had no advent candles…. I must say Joanne Fabric was not to bad and I was lucky, I got the last of the candles. The cashier could not believe, I found them….. she said these candles and the ones for the Jewish holiday, sell like hot cakes. My apologies, Im not sure what the Jewish candle holder is called and I don’t want to offend anyone.

Yesterday, was a good day eating wise, I believe I was over my TDEE but I ended the evening with a nice stroll with the husband. He loves walking this time of year, he’s still a kid at heart, loves to look at the lights! I’m good with that because I now have a walking partner and don’t have to rush to get it in before dark.

So, I took a sneak peak at the scales this morning. My official weigh in day is Tues., but I need to see where I fell after my flop days… down another 2 lbs. total for the month is a 9lb reduction. Im on top of the world! Can’t wait to do the Dec. challenge and reduce another 5 to 10lbs.
Well, I must be off, forgot to water the garden yesterday and it’s looking a bit dreadful.
    Cheers!

Day 27– Colorado, USA– NFD … (but only eating dinner)

Had an excellent FD on Friday, then followed it with WAY too much pumpkin pie on Saturday. Oops!!

I’ve got to get those Thanksgiving leftovers out of the house! (And NOT by eating them all. Haha.)
    🙂

Missj2002– Sorry to hear about your father & the difficulty that ensued. But congrats on tackling that set back & having success this go round!

AnneMarilyn– traveling can def add some challenges. I usually end up caving in & eating fast junk food that’s easy to grab in airports. And then feel yucky afterwards. (Lesson learned! I’ll have healthy snacks in my bag next trip.) Nice job tracking those calories & making good decisions!

LindaSue– what a beautiful memory of your grandmother. Put a smile on my face! (And now I want to try that sandwich too.)

Fattymessi– We’ve been eating out quite a bit lately too. Holiday season makes reducing weight a bigger challenge.
I’m tackling that issue by only eating dinners on those days. All day I stick to plain coffee, herbal teas & bone broth. Then only dinner at restaurant. I still consider it a NFD because I’m sure with the red wine & unknown calories of a restaurant meal, I’m far over 500 cals.

Coda– I’m sorry to hear it’s been a tough month for you. You’ve always been such a tremendous support & motivator for us here! My November results are also not especially stellar, but I’m just now reading Dr. Jason Fung’s Complete Book on Fasting. And will re-read the Obesity Code too for an extra mental boost.

Keep your chin up & know there is a big crew of us wishing you well!!

    2nd post
thanks happymargo I had a good look at my tracker and while it is up and down I am still in a better place than last Christmas so will just keep on keeping on and continue moving down, albeit slowly. I had in my head I was lower this time last year which meant I hadn’t really moved in a year but that wasn’t the case. I needed to look back at how far I have come and not compare myself to others – this is my journey.

    UK day 27 NFD

Day 27: Gloucestershire, Cotswolds, UK: NFD.

Bert1802: We are staying on this thread for December but reverting to “Day 1” on the 1st.

AT: I’m tempted to commit to the back-to-backs on Monday and Tuesday. A new one for me…but I’ve been slacking lately.

    Day 26 & 27 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

Day 26 and 27, London -NFD, though yesterday ended up very close to a fast, as there was too much to do.

Here is my main problem with NFDs- rationally, I know that I have to be careful, etc. But. After I have done a fast, I tend to reward myself. Which undoes the benefit of the fast. Something to work on next month, I guess.

    Day 27 | Derbyshire UK | NFD

AT: Yes, I WILL…I’m in (Monday and Tuesday)!
I have a list of 8 names for my pocket, besides me.

    Day 27|NFD|Toronto
Sunny and “warm” at 7 Celsius today so a long walk is definitely in order. Taken to a buffet for brunch yesterday, not my best NFD. FD tomorrow and I may try the B2B depending on Tuesday’s schedule. Best regards to all

    Day 27 – Los Angeles – FD
Well, another fast day is upon me. In fairness, I’m looking forward. The scale is almost the lowest it’s been in a long time so I’m looking forward to this diet day kicking me into gear.
    MB

Hi @back2thefuture and everyone else here!
Please could I join on the December challenge? I will be doing alternate day fasting for the month – hope that’s okay with your spreadsheet 🙂
I’ve been lurking on the forums for a while but only just made my account!
I’ve loved reading about all of your successes and I’m really excited about joining you next month 🙂

Xamos: Welcome, of course you can join us!

    Thank you @ciren2 🙂
Do you know if there will be a new thread/spreadsheet started or will we carry on from this one?

Day 27 – WA USA NFD

Glad to be learning this WOL life with this group. Mon & Tues will be my 1st B2B 500 FDs.

Am excited to celebrate the 1st day of Advent today. My adult children and & I will do a conference call as we celebrate together over the miles – each of us lighting the 1st candle in our own places. During the week we do it on our own and then on the next Sunday we’ll do the conference call together. It’s a highlight of the Christmas season for us.

Day 28, FD, New Zealand. I usually post at the end of the day but just wanted to say thanks for adding me to the mon-tues challenge. I’ve written my fellow challenges names on a piece of paper and it’s in my pocket as I head off to work. Good luck everyone!

I’ve still not been able to complete back-to-back Fast Days. (Managed a 4:3 one week though.)

It will be a challenge for me, but after falling face-first into Pumpkin Pie yesterday, I could REALLY use a re-set with b2b FD!

I’d like to throw my hat into the ring, or my name into your pockets 🙂 to join the group for the Monday- Tuesday Fasts to finish out November strong!

Day 28 NFD just a quick check in on what has been a busy day.
Over ate this weekend…weekends are the hardest.

@at I would also like to commit to two b2b fasts on Monday and Tuesday to finish off well. Please count me in.

    Days 26/27 UK NFDs

A very busy weekend with social events, all involved meals out!
I’ve enjoyed myself and my meals! I tried to limit the damage by not eating other than the main meals, wine on saturday none today!

Next week I have a friend staying I’ll be able to fast tomorrow and again on friday. I’m going to try to do low calorie on the other days and hope to see a loss on saturday morning!!

The rate the social events are stacking up I’ll just be pleased to maintain for December!

Good luck everyone for the last week of Nov challenge!

    Georgia/USA/Day27/NFD:

Had an eventful Thanksgiving visit with relatives. Very emotionally draining experience. Thank God for
this group! I have a place to read about others dealing with what life throws at you from time to time. I enjoyed my relatives, but I’m thankful for the distance. Looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow with a fast day. Gonna gorge on salad for lunch and a low cal dinner. Coffee be my friend! LOL. Enjoy your Sunday group!

Day 27: Pacific NW USA, NFD (funny/weird, Mumsy, we had the same exact breakfast as you today)

End-of-Nov b2b fasting team up to 12 people! A pocketful to help if the going gets hard, just member you are not alone!

Bert – we are continuing in December on this very thread. Welcome xamos – ADF’ing is fine. Everyone on our forum is doing their own fasting patterns, we love to hear about the different ways and results. Our guidelines are to post daily with at a minimum the day of the month, your location and whether it’s a FD or NFD for you. Then you can add as much or little as you want. I’ve kept the attendance log in Nov and will continue through Dec 31.

Coda – Right on for you in your downward progress this year! Again, you remind us that we can be our own most pessimistic judge.

Day 27 Surrey UK NFD, almost turned into a full fast day, but I had something to eat this evening. I wanted to join the b2b fast days, and might still do so depending on how I feel in the morning. Had a rough night last night with the most awful stomach cramps and eventually had to take a pain killer at around 4 this morning. The result was a bit of a zonked out day, did absolutely nothing the whole day! Felt like I had been hit by a bus. Seems to be a bit better now though, have loads of work to get through tomorrow, so I am now going to bed.
So I am going to take everyone’s names and also carry you all around and maybe take strength from that to try the b2b fast….have never done that before, and hope the strength of the group will carry us all! Goodnight everyone!

US SC Day 27 FD. Company left earlier this morning and I’m working on putting up the Christmas decorations for the next round. FD going well so far. I may try for b2b tomorrow but not sure yet. I don’t think November has been a very successful month for me weight wise, although I haven’t gained.. but maintaining during the holidays is okay with me too. B2TF.. please put me down for December also. Thanks!

2nd Post…sorry AT, and everyone else doing b2b, @annemarilyn, @coda, @loubelles. @B2tF, @hollylj, @lew, @lynzm, @ciren2, @august2024> @happymargo, @erika45 I should have directed the post to you all! Just assumed it’s okay, didn’t give the necessary respect to this group, and I feel that is why this is such a good forum, because of the respect all the members show to each other. We will all give it a go, let’s hold hands!

Day 28 Sunshine Coast Australia FD: Sorry B2tf for missing out again yesterday. I have been very errant in my ways this month and need Coda’s big stick wrapped firmly around my derriere. I am joining you all on the b2b. Had a horrendous weekend food wise. Very social get togethers with family and Christmas get together with a small band where we sang our hearts out, played lots of 60s music and had plenty of Christmas cheer. It is the last chance we have to be together before early January 2017. I didn’t see the thread yesterday at all due to family commitments and driving all over the countryside. Hence, I let the whole idea of restraint fly out the window. So now I have to atone for my waywardness.

Coda, I am with you on the feelings of going nowhere fast even though you have your days where you are an absolute paragon of virtue followed by being a little off here and there resulting in treading water. But it is still in our minds that we have a way to go and can’t completely revert to old ways.
so, So it is a case of Gollum and “What ‘s in her pocketses. my precious?” A list if names that will keep you on track for the next 2 days at least. I’m going to put on a bracelet as well to reinforce what these 2 days are all about. I have plenty of bone broth in the freezer So no excuses.

Bert1802, you are a legend. Well done. You are continuing to do really well, Anna6. I wonder if i was called Fuvvie67 if I would do better 🤔. Have pulled out The Obesity Code and will flick through it again to remind myself why we are living this way of life.

Happy fasting and non fasting everyone. May the hunger dragons be kept at bay and the Battle of Scones be won on the 5:2 front.

Day 27, USA, Missouri Ozarks, Non Fasting

Hello all, early afternoon here. Didn’t eat breakfast, hadn’t planned to eat lunch but ended up having a surprise visitor at church (my husband’s stepson from his first marriage – everybody is still very close). Soooo, we took him out to lunch after church and sat around and talked about the “old days” for about three hours. We were at a little burger joint so the choices were very limited. I had a small order of fries, drank several glasses of lemon water and then had a small ice cream cone. Won’t eat any more until dinner then will have a salad and maybe some of the Thanksgiving leftover which are, mercifully, almost gone.

Will be back on my three day fast starting tomorrow, from 7 pm to 7 pm each day with just a light dinner under 500 calories. Will weigh Wednesday to end the month for the graph although Thursday is my normal weigh in day. Heck, I weigh every day so it doesn’t really matter. hahaa…

    Enjoy your day all.
