  • Day 23 | Melbourne| NFD

Yes, thanks Coda – a good piece of info.

Another tip I heard recently, is that people in households who have food sitting out and visible all the time weigh about 5kg more than people who don’t have the food out. No source was given, that I can recall, but I think it is probably true, as it’s just too mindlessly easy to grab a bite of something you see on your way past, when you wouldn’t have even thought about having it if it was in the fridge or pantry.

@lindasue it ties in with what you mentioned “how much of eating is just because โ€“ well, the stuff is sitting there?”

    Day 23 – New Zealand – NFD
Trying 16:8 for a couple of days – will see how that goes after weigh in.

    Day 22 – Melbourne Australia – FD

Weighed in this morning and i didn’t lose anything which wasn’t too shocking BUT i didn’t put on either which was shocking!! so still 2kg down for the month, 1 kg to go for my goal this month.

Today has been going good so far, but i have been really hungry, i don’t know why but i tend to get really hungry on my second FD of the week, so definitely looking forward to dinner tonight!

    Day 22 NYC nfd

I didn’t listen to my own suggestion of not weighing myself for awhile but thankfully my plateau shifted and I lost a pound. Although pity it’s shifting just before thanksgiving! I am going away to stay with friends who are all very good chefs so it will be an interesting challenge. I plan to do another FD on Sunday as well so hopefully that will help me at least stay where I am in terms of weight.

    Thanks!

    Marianna

    Day 23 – Switzerland – FD
Morning all, and good luck to everyone fasting today!

    Day 23 | Derbyshire UK | NFD

b2tf I have a correction for you, yesterday was a FD in the end! I can’t believe I did my first ever b2b fast and without planning to! I did post all this three times yesterday but there all flying around in the ether and have not reached the forum. Hopefully this will get there! Really sorry to muck you about, you do a great job keeping track of us all. Thank you.

My last weigh in for the month is Friday so will let you have my stats then. I can’t bring myself to weigh on other days because I like to see the weekly change and don’t see other fluctuations as accurate gains or losses over time.

I will continue with the Dec challenge as I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and saying what type of day it is every morning has kept me accountable for the rest of the day. I can’t say one thing and then do another (except for yesterday lol, at least it was a positive fib!!)

I intend to continue my fasting days in Dec (mon and weds or Tuesday and thurs) Christmas falls sat sun and mon so hopefully it shouldn’t scupper my plans too much. I love all the Christmas food, so intend to participate in the celebrations. In fact I have been having a mini mince pie most NFDs this month as they come in at 108 calories a time. I know I can only have one and that seems to be enough of a sweet fix for me. Let’s hope I can keep up the restraint of only having one!

Good luck everyone and good luck me! I hope this post makes it to the forum xx

    Day 23, Australia FD
Very hungry today which is normally when I lose weight so just thinking of that now!

    Day 23 UK NFD

Yesterday was my first fast of the week. It was liquid only and very low cal. It was one of the easiest days I’ve had helped by a really busy work day with so much to think about food wasn’t an issue, or maybe it really is getting easier. Still, pleased it is a NFD today. Fasting again tomorrow. Goodness knows how these people on ADF cope.

Great to be continuing in December although for complicated reasons our main Christmas celebration has to be 20th this year. Have a great day everyone.

    Day 23 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

Yesterday’s Fast day went as planned. I’m on a training course for work today and lunch is provided, I will try to think healthy.

I’m in for December. I have been thinking about next month don’t want to undo all the progress. I think the target will be to end December the same weight as I start it. But that’s getting the a bit ahead of myself. One day at a time, one meal at a time, one choice at a time ๐Ÿ™‚

UK day 23 FD Have a busy day planned so that should help with keeping my mind off food , feeling strong .

Day 23, NFD, New Zealand. Not a bad day, ate my TDEE, probably need to drink more water before bedtime, but otherwise feeling good. FD tomorrow.

    Day 22 UK FD

Coda thanks for that post, really helpful!

Couldn’t sleep last night got up finally at midnight and before I knew it had eatne a pb sandwich grrrrrrr WHY? Emotional eating after a difficult visit to MIL. But so annoying to let it get to me!

I did then settle down and re read some of the Fast diet book, I do need to refresh and go back to basics! I will take time each day to recap.

Can someone tell me the title of Dr Fungs new book? Not sure I can eat main meal at lunch time, certainly not every day!

So today is a fast day, A lazy get up after my bad night so just about to get on static bike then do some pilates and get out for a walk cos its actually dry!

B2tf Count me in for Dec my aim will be to not to over do the festive fayre! although I don’t have a sweet tooth I do love Christmas treats.

Good luck to every one today!

    Day 23 Italy – NFD
I weigh 75.2 kg. Still on my plateau but, I’m amazed that I haven’t put weight on after a couple of days with chocolate cake and crisps!!

    Day 23, London, NFD

With so many events this week(drinks, lunches/dinners), not sure where to fit a second FD, but will do so later this week.

@Rocy65- I have only read The Obesity Code, not aware of a more recent book.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    Day 23, NZ, NFD
    Good day

    Take care all. Xxx

    Day 23, Gozo, Malta, NFD

Will try keeping to my TDEE today. I’m babysitting again my grandson of three months this morning.

    Happy Wednesday everyone. Stay strong.

    Day 23 Brisbane Australia FD
Had a really good one, wasn’t too hard today – I am attempting liquid only today so have just had broth for dinner. I will be interested to see how it goes. Glad we are continuing into Dec – I don’t post much but definitely feel it is easier to do as a group

    Day 23…. Florida….. FD

I’m up and hour earlier than usual, it looks as if my sleepless nights may be back. Today, is going to be a heck of a day and a long one at that. Work all day, then an hour drive to the airport, then an hour back. But good news, my boys will be sleep in their own beds tonight.
Yesterday, food wise…. well…. let just say I could have done better. Took my oldest out for Greek last night. We just went to a little Greek cafe, he wanted to go into Tarpon Spring which is a Greek town to one of our favorite restaurants for what he calls flaming cheese. You know the kind they pour bourbon on, light on fire, yell OPA! The douch the fire out with lemon. Darn, I cant remember what the real name is…. however, neither wanted to drive the 45min to hour to get there.
It was great spending the time with him, it surely does not happen often enough.

Not going to spend much time this morning, I have some last minute chores to finish up before getting into the shower. I was only two minutes late yesterday…. The guys in the warehouse laughed at me and said Wow! You’re early….. maybe today, I’ll show up 5 min before my start time and really throw them off……
    Have a great day!

    Day 23 Sussex U.K.
    NFD.
Ciren, Coda, thanks for your thoughts. My best friend has just got an awful terminal diagnosis. Brain tumour.
We have spoken or seen each other about once a week for more than forty years. We met on the first day of our nurse training.
I need to keep on keeping on with this so that I can help when needed.
    Won’t speak about this again.
Would like to be in for December.

Hi just a quick post day 23 UK not sure what type of day at the minute.

    Patti67 more hugs x

Rocy65 the new book is ‘complete guide to fasting’ – I have only read a little of it but I like it so far – I find it inspiring and again reiterates there is nothing wrong with fasting only good!

Have developed a pattern of not eating at all until at least lunch time, having my homemade granola with berries if required and having a small meal in the evening. Got an even smaller plate that I use now.

    D23, Melbourne, Australia NFD
Turned out to be a NFD today. Hopefully now start of 36 – 48 hr fast.

    Day 23– Colorado, USA– FD

Going for a Fast Day today, as tomorrow will obviously not be one!

I am Thankful for many blessings in my life, and I am lucky enough to have this lovely group to add to my list! Thank you to all of you on this forum for keeping me motivated & inspired.

    Day 23 – London, UK – FD

Day 23 / Tweed Coast Australia / NFD

    ๐Ÿ™‚

    Day 23 USA (Illinois)

NFD – ought to be a pretty easy day eating wise but busy getting ready for family who arrive tomorrow then others this weekend. this will be a rather crazy next several days.

Patti – hugs for you and your dear friend. Someone like that is ever so special and oh so hard to see facing such a diagnosis.

I keep talking up our WOL to friends and acquaintances who see my weight loss. Often they look incredulously at me when I discuss the FD’s. I send them to the book for the research and validation. I send them here for the camaraderie. Then I shake my head as to if they will follow through. THIS TAKES SELF-CONTROL! Too many people who really need to lose weight just don’t or can’t manage it.

So, congratulations to all of you/us who work so hard and are progressing onward and downward!

    Day 23, FD,Canada
Count me in for December too. Finding this forum and all of you to be a great support in sticking to this WOL.

~just saw this on TV about Thanksgiving (and other) eating: http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/impact-of-overeating-on-thanksgiving/

    US SC Day 23 NFD

I’m with WACM…. I am aiming for 16:8 every day till Sunday when company leaves and I hopefully can get a FD in.

Coda, I have developed the same habit. A couple of months into 5:2 i just didn’t miss breakfast any more. It’s funny.. as a young adult I never ate breakfast and then later on with all the articles about it being the most important meal of the day I forced myself to start eating it. Now, I am content to not eat until lunch time.

Have a good day all and happy Thanksgiving tomorrow to all US online buddies ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Day 23. US. NFD.
Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while. Crazy busy. Plus I’ve been on a plateau for a while which is discouraging. I’m at 131 lbs today. I’ve had a few hiccups up and down the road. I hope to be able to finish the month at 130 but I’m not confident I can do it. Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Yikes! It’s so much harder at this age.

    Day 23|NFD|Toronto
Best Thanksgiving wishes to our American friends for safe travel and an enjoyable holiday.

Day 23, USA, Missouri Ozarks, Fasting

Just typed out a very profound, LONG, post and it appeared to have disappeared. Annoying, So I shall just say enjoy your day all.

    Day 23 – Los Angeles – FD
So yesterdays fast went well and I’m going to try for another with Thanksgiving right around the corner. The scale has nudged UP a little which is unfortunate but week over week it’s still going in the right direction so I’m going to keep trying.

    Day 23 | FD | Bucks UK

Day 23 Portugal FD (so far)

Hoping to make it through dinner time with just a small plate of veg stir fry. Have already eaten about 200 cal so may go over the 500cal. But, it will certainly be a low calorie day. Will try another FD again on Friday.

    Day 23, Gloucestershire, UK…Fasting..
12 hours since porridge this morning; 12 hours to tomorrow’s breakfast!
Patti67: I am so sorry to hear about your best friend and her cancer diagnosis. What an awful thing to be told. Sending kind wishes and a big hug for you both xx

    Day 23; Toronto; NFD

Please add my name to the December challenge. It’s really helpful for me to read the posts and I have learned a lot.

Patti67: my heart goes out to you regarding your friend’s diagnosis. I’m just going to share about a book by Dr. John Kelly, an Irish MD who recommended his patients diagnosed with cancer follow a whole foods plant-based diet. There were some incredible turn arounds, as it appears to put many cancers into remission. If you think your friend would be open to it, maybe you could recommend the book? It’s called “Stop Feeding Your Cancer”.

Day 23 – WA USA FD

Seeing Thanksgiving is on a Thursday, I’m taking a FD today. It’s a road trip day that I usually snack on. Stopping for a Dutch Bros light coffee.

I believe the book is Guide to Fasting by Dr

Day 23. NJ USA NFD. Grocery shopping and prep wordk since 7 am. Everyone has to have their favorites – such a feast !!! Love Thanksgivingโ™ก

    Day 23, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Ireland, FD
God, today was tough but I got through it. Very stressful so needed a drink. Kept calories for 3 vodka and slimline tonics – I know it’s not the best use of calories but more relaxed now. Finding I’m much better in terms of food choices on NFD. Regarding measurements, anything else to measure apart from waist, hips, thighs? Thanks all ๐Ÿ˜˜

Day 23 Surrey UK NFD I am definitely in for December….don’t think I am doing awfully well this week, but never mind, that too will pass! It’s been seriously hectic these last few weeks. Does one ever stop worrying about one’s children? Doesn’t seem like it…anyway, this forum will be a major factor in staying on track in December.
Happy thanksgiving to all our American members and stay strong to those of us hitting problems of any sort. I will take time this weekend to catch up on reading all the posts!

Don’t forget to measure your upper arms and calves.

    D24, Melbourne, Australia, FD
Had a bit of pasta recently so going for a 36-48 hr fast to try and use those stores up.
    Happy Thursday all.

    Georgia/USA/Day 23/FD

    Day 23 UK NFD

Writing this feeling very full up and slightly uncomfortable. Had lunch (no breakfast, like others I forgo this and have only lunch and dinner/only lunch if a FD). Then someone made me dinner which was lovely although big portion and could have stopped but didn’t, then had dessert too, again could have stoped but didn’t. Throughly enjoyed it although now feel rather too full. Happy ๐Ÿ˜Š about this though as previously I wouldn’t have felt as full as I do now. Will remember next time.

This I feel is my willpower group, whenever I feel this gets a little difficult I dip into my email and read a few posts, then willpower increases straight away.

In for December! Yay. Have decided the days I have meals out (quite a few in December)I am going to Fast during the day, then can really enjoy my evening meal.

    Thanks all x

    Day 23, FD London

Was a little bit easier today to fast as busy at work, just got home and had my evening meal! Although felt very cold all day!
Feeling tired but happy to see a 2kg drop over the last 2.5 weeks. Slow going but at least its going in the right direction, hope everyone has had a good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

Please sign me up for December!

    Day 23 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

    Day 23 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

    Perth, Australia, Day24, NFD

Still going on my fast from yesterday. Found this one relatively easy which was a surprise as my dinner on Tuesday night was a small stir fry with an egg. Finished reading Obesity Code and am mid-way through the new one. It makes me want to extend this fast but I have a long standing lunch date with friends for a birthday. This was the first time we’ve all been available to catch up on over a month – there is only 4 of us! Busy lives.

I especially want to extend because I have the weekend away this weekend and then I fly to Adelaide to see family for 8 days after that. I’m going to try to keep to 5:2 there but I have more success if I am busy or by myself rather than around other people.

Feeling really good at the moment. Clothes feeling a little looser and skin is looking really clear. None of that tired, puffy look and the rosacea is minimal. Have to be happy with that

Day 23, New Jersey, USA, NFD. Today I did my Thanksgiving cooking (bringing a few dishes to another home) and ate on the light side. Hoping not to overeat tomorrow.

I started Kondomari on my underwear/socks drawers… I have never folded undies in my life. Wow, what a difference in the two drawers! I can see everything! I can find everything! I can’t believe I am saying this. I can’t wait to finish my other drawers. Insane!

Killer workout today. Even though my weight is steady, I can see changes in my hips, thighs, rear. Pretty good for a month shy of 61. Now I just need to lose the fat around the middle.

And in for December….will need everyone’s help getting through THAT month. The holidays AND my birthday!
