    Day 11 – USA/TN – NFD

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

We normally have different food apart from Sunday. She can eat lots of things I can’t bare. She likes salads, and to be honest she dosent eat that much, she dosent like junk food ie burgers. Her salads are extremely colourful,a real work of art. I know when I went to see our GP she referred me to the weight loss program and also said that there is no weight loss pills for at least 12 months.

    Good afternoon everyone Xxxx

Its a hot one today and even hotter tomorrow…Hot for the dogs.

A lovely walk at 8am just a nice breeze.. I have not been doing much today having a day of rest.

I am not sure what to eat later ,, maybe jacket potato with cheese and tomatoes.

Dave.. I bet Denise is fed up .. its hard when you really are forced to diet..You can both do it together though. Do you eat the same things. I would ask about the tablets though as she need s to lose the weight for medical reasons they might help her.

Sym.. Lovely to have lunch at Jacqui’s ..does she live very far away from you. I hope your fasting goes well..

    Happy Sunday everyone.. Xxxx

Day 11 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

I’m up a pound or so, which I suppose is merely food-bulk because I had three meals yesterday, because I wanted those pills in me as soon as possible, and I was firmly enjoined to take them both with food. My meals were otherwise entirely reasonable, and today, I’m back to no breakfast.

I don’t feel particularly good, however. Was at church by 7:45 as usual, played for the 9am service, it was done at 9:55 and I was home by 10am. I never just leave and am never home by 10, but I don’t wish this crud on anyone, so I just took myself away from everyone, which made me sad because the grandkids of one of my friends are visiting (grown, with kids of their own) from Michigan and I so love visiting with them. Sad…

    And that’s my chatter.

    Have a grand one, everyone.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

I’ll help her, she’s starting tomorrow. She was very good last time she had to lose weight too have her knee done. I think the doctor gave her some tablets to start her off, but don’t know if they still do it now. Better take Chloe out in sure she as a built in clock 😁.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Afternoon All…
A very hot day here, out early walking.. popped to Jacqui’s for lunch and chat.

I am now fasting into Monday hopefully..

    Dave..
Sorry to hear Denise has to loose a lot of weight before the op. Hope you can give her some encouragement it is hard when you can’t move about. It’s getting her mind set you can’t do anything without getting focussed …

Very hot and boy wants to walk….

Day 11 North Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Stressful morning, I went on an 18 mile bike ride and about 9 miles from home I got a flat tyre. It was completely flat. I had a 1 pm hospital appointment today so I knew I couldn’t push it home as I would not get to the hospital in time. We don’t have a bike rack on any of our cars and without the front wheel being removed there was no way of getting the bike into the car. I called my husband to come and rescue me and my son in law to get him to explain how to remove the front wheel. It was the back wheel that had gone flat. Luckily a cyclist went past and he was able to take the front wheel off so we could get the bike in the car. The bike is an electric bike, big and heavy so it was a bit of a struggle. We made it home safely and I was on time for my hospital appointment. I am so glad this happened on a Sunday. If it had happened in the week there would not have been many fellow cyclists around.

@northgeorgia glad you are getting better.

@stitchincarol glad you have been given antibiotics, hopefully the sore throat and laryngitis will get better soon.

@funshipfreddie I will definitely watch the film of the Salt Path I love Gillian Anderson. It is a brilliant book so I am sure your friend will enjoy it.

@snowflake56 glad you didn’t buy the biscuits 🍪🤪

@at glad you have not had any flare ups with your sciatica.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone ☀️

Good morning everyone, last day of the Olympics,I like watching the Olympics especially the athletics and cycling. My dad used to take me to watch cycling and they also had athletics on at the same time. The cycling track was outdoors with a cinder track for athletics at the bottom.Chicken for tea tonight I think I’ll do roast potatoes in duck fat 😋😋😋. Will stop doing it soon to help Denise out maybe then have jacket potato.Denise is really down because it’s almost impossible to lose enough weight for her operation and she’s inn a lot of pain and painkillers just don’t work for her.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    🍉 ☕ 🥒 ** Celebrating 10 years of IF with a fast day today! ** 🌶️ 🍽️ 🍅

I lost 23kg in my first year of 5:2 back in 2014 and lost another 2kg along the way with a combination of 5:2 and 6:1. I have never, ever missed a fast day in these ten years, they’re just a part of my life.

I will forever be grateful to Dr M. for changing my life in so many positive ways. Being a slim person is so empowering after spending much of my adult life overweight. I was 85kg, now 60kg. I eliminated my risk of diabetes and reduced my risk of heart failure and stroke to the 3% associated with age. I reduced my risk of developing various forms of cancer associated with being obese. I eliminated knee joint pain.

I’m hoping the practice of fasting delivers other long-term health benefits such as improving my mental acuity or, at least, slowing its decline. It’s a marvellous feeling to be in control of food rather than the other way around.

My only regret is that I didn’t learn of this WOL until age 58. So, to anyone who’s reading, especially if you’re younger with the prospect of turning your health around for the longer-term, – do it now!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good afternoon everyone.

It’s been a lovely sunny winter day here. I managed to take advantage of the weather and go walking with a friend. Lots of showers forecast this week, so it’s nice to make the most of a nice day.

My head is spinning at the moment as I’ve spend the last 3 hours researching solar panels, inverters, installation etc. I think I need a spreadsheet to sort everything out!

Cali, how terrifying to have a fire so close. I’m glad it’s now under control. I hope the others don’t come any closer to you.
I experienced that when I lived in the hills. I remember that paralyzing feeling and panicking about evacuating a relative with dementia and mobility issues. (I’m grateful I didn’t have pets to worry about as well.) I realised I had to be prepared. So each summer I had overnight bags pre-packed for my dad and myself, which included essential meds. I put all the important paperwork into a filing box and I pasted a “to do” list inside the lid of the box. The list was important as it’s really hard to think clearly when you are in panic mode. Following a written instruction is much easier.

Cinque and Neil your uses for haloumi and salami/chorizo both had my mouth watering.

I agree about protein (and fat) helping to take the edge of appetite. Adding nuts, nut butter or cheese to a snack keeps my appetite at bay for longer than snacks without the added fat & protein. My easiest way to do this is by adding it to a piece of fruit.
My favourites are: sliced apple eaten with 3-4 tsp almond butter; or a pear with a wedge of firm ricotta or cheddar. If I need something transportable it’s usually 4 dried nectarine halves and 6-8 pecans or almonds.

Cinque, You should be fine with your cornish pasties. I have made and frozen unbaked pasties and pies. They are best partially or fully thawed before baking – and using an enamelled tray to bake them on (it heats up and crisps the bottom pastry). I also bake them in the airfryer as it cooks from the bottom as well as the top so the pastry is lovely.

I have just finished a a very careful eating week as my weight was up a little. It’s back to 81 now so I can go back to normal 5:2.

When we were sharing and discussing our FD recipe thread I remembered that we also had a separate one for legumes. While not all FD fare, there are a lot of delicious and healthy recipes there. https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/beans-and-lentils-recipes-tips-and-information/ I really do enjoy hearty legume dishes in this weather.

Must go and put dinner on. Take care all.

Hi all, no cycling today… a leisurely walk with my sister and catch up afterwards with the rest of my siblings.
@stitchincarol I hope you feel better soon. 😂 I’m sure your DH is missing your chatter 😂
    And @northgeorgia I’m glad you’re feeling a little better.
@funshipfreddie yes it’s a super interesting subject and there is no doubt that gluten affects me currently and I don’t doubt that if I reverted back to eating it I would have serious issues in the future. It’s my head, brain etc rather than stomach or digestive issues.. it’s the one thing I am absolutely 100% committed to staying away from (well cigarettes too but that’s been 24 years). There is NO chance I would knowingly choose food which contains gluten now.. although from time to time I am accidentally “glutened” (because gluten is in so many foodstuffs) and I know all about it within about 8 hours max. For me, it results in debilitating headaches, loss of focus and brain fog, low motivation, clumsiness, dexterity.. I think how I’m affected is actually “gluten ataxia” but I do not have a formal diagnosis nor am I a medic 😂
@molij well done on assisting your elderly neighbour- I was saying to a friend recently how difficult it must be for older people now as everything is online or worse, on a phone app… it can be such a pain even for those of us who like technology. It doesn’t bode well for us in the future – does it? Yes it has been one tough year – I actually can’t believe all three are gone to be honest… friends from different stages in my life but all gregarious, supportive, incredible human beings. I am so very sorry for your recent loss too💕💕

Day 10 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

My sore throat and laryngitis got even worse overnight, so I drove to the clinic first thing this morning and came home with an antibiotic to fight the infection (not strep, thankfully) and a steroid to restore my voice and ease the sore throat. I don’t feel fine yet, but I can make a sound, so that’s good as far as I’m concerned. DH may possibly be inclined to quote our friend from years who said, in similar circumstances, “All good things must come to an end,” but he’s wise enough to keep those possible thoughts to himself. 😂

I ate so little yesterday since nothing appealed against that throat that I’m down a few ounces today; I’m working hard to stick to Hunger Level 3 today, and not go nots.

I’ll try to read and post tomorrow; have a grand one, everyone!

Not good news for Denise, she’s got to lose weight before they will consider operating on her knee. Not of a shambles really she only seen a nurse who didn’t weigh her or measure her hight. Told her to come back in 4 months. I can help her with the weight loss so see how it goes.

    Day 10 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 230 lbs. That’s right, after two days of not fasting, I hit my lowest weight of the week this morning LOL!

I am slowly getting better… this congestion is hanging on for dear life, no matter what I do, but other than that I’m fine. Monday will probably be my next FD.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone a clamy day today. No sun out but humid. Off to hospital soon to take Denise to see the Doctor about her knee. Got to go miles away to an hospital I’ve never even seen. There are quite a few hospitals in Manchester. I’ve been a good boy so far this week and kept under my allowance for food. Chilli and rice for tea,I won’t have breakfast or dinner, lunch if you prefer.Football today the charity shield.I think United will win easily 😭😭City will probably play their reserves but it dosent count for much.

    Day 10 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@at – good to ‘see’ you! I hope your Day 9 FD went well.

@jaifaim – I find the whole coeliac/gluten intolerance situation very interesting. I swore myself off bread years ago, after reading ‘Wheat Belly’ & ‘Grain Brain’. It has gradually crept back into my diet, but I usually stick to rye bread. Apparently even some people with a gluten intolerance can tolerate rye or sourdough bread. Some researchers believe that eating gluten can potentially increase the risk of memory loss, dementia symptoms and Alzheimer’s.

@flourbaby – my co-ordination isn’t so great either. I nearly threw in the towel after a few lessons, because I felt like such a prat! There are so many different dances, it’s a bit overwhelming at first. The others have been doing it for years, so you’re not going to pick it all up in 5 minutes. But then I found some really good YouTube tutorials. It’s so much easier being able to practise alone. You start to see that there are a lot of common steps, & you get used to some of the terminology, e.g. grapevine, scuff & hitch. Give it a whirl! 💃

@snowflake56 – One good Italian restaurant – I think that’s all I need 🤪 Yes, €1,75 is about R 35. Much better than US$14! Buying cookies on-line is not a good idea 😅 That’s a great video, thanks! And 385 million views! It’s a remarkable coincidence that they’re all wearing white/denim 🤔 You’d think they could’ve put down the snacks first though; talk about eating on the go?! 🤣 Not sure I’d pick up the moves from watching that though. I need funshipfreddie-style baby steps:-
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtuVWAQzGtE&t=5s

@stitchincarol – urgh, a sore throat?! Few things are worse; I hope it’s easing up 🤗

@molij, @fatrabbit, I was just checking out ‘The Salt Path’, because a friend’s birthday is coming up & I think she’d enjoy it. Apparently it’s being made into a movie, starring Gillian Anderson & Jason Isaacs

    Have a great weekend everyone 🌤 🌈

  • Atomic August 🟢🔵🟡

    Day 10, Germany, NFD

@stitchincarol I hope your throat will be better soon.

@molij I didn’t buy the biscuits, my DH buys them because he likes them but I eat them. I eat a few nuts every day in yoghurt with berries, it prevents me to nibble on unhealthier things like biscuits.

@flourbaby Just give it a try when you have any spare time in the future, my coordination isn’t very good either but it’s a good practice.

@funshipfreddie The Bastogne biscuits aren’t expensive in the Netherlands, only ~ €1,75 (is this 35,01 ZAR?).This one is good to try out Jerusalema https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11e4sW-Q4Ns

    @jaifaim Any cycling this weekend?

    @ccco Please take care!

@at Lucky you, the only good restaurant we have here is an Italian one.

    Have a nice weekend everyone!

  • Atomic August 🟢🔵🟡

@funshipfreddie – that’s a very valid question! I didn’t buy them 😂 Friends brought them over when visiting months ago and I put them on the highest shelf (there are two other packs) as I have coeliac friends so good to have if people visit… might rethink this 😂
    Late night. Wonderful day. 💕

  • Atomic August 🟢🔵🟡

    USA. Day 9. FD

My FD did not go well. It’s much harder now because I buy snacks for my grandchildren and then I eat them. Before I had grandchildren, I didn’t eat snacks because I had no need to eat them. Now I have to hope the children like to eat things that I don’t like! LOL. Tomorrow is another day! 👍🏻

  • Atomic August 🟢🔵🟡

    Day 9 – UK – FD800

First FD managed since Day 1 (apologies to those who kindly added me to the FD pocket lists I had planned to do) – summer is such a busy time, unexpected visitors and too much socialising – more visitors this weekend, distant family visiting from Australia so today’s FD was much needed before their arrival tomorrow

Had a fab 1/2 day Pilates workshop yesterday using a stability ball for a full body workout – certainly challenges your balance and also activates your core as a result!! no flare ups of my sciatica, although my teacher was very good 🤗 at advising me throughout to avoid certain moves that might trigger things

    @wriggler and @jospeirs – welcome on board
@merryapple – I suspect it was the length of the journey and my physio agrees, her advice is to have a 10 min walk about every 1-1.5hrs of driving in the future, which I will certainly adhere to as this episode was not much fun – glad to report that I seem to be back to normal – will test it tomorrow with a longer hike involving a climb 🤞
@stitchincarol – we are so lucky where we live to have 5 x Michelin Star restaurants within a 5 mile radius and several others including a 3 star one about 20 miles away – it’s always nice to have a treat for birthdays and our wedding anniversary…..

Must try to log on daily as this seems to help me stay in control and motivates me 😇

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Cinque, you’re right about how easy it is to eat mindlessly. That seems to be my biggest downfall. It’s hard to sit down and read without food in one hand. 5:2 helps to break that habit, at least for the 2 FD’s. After more than a month I’m getting back into the routine of it.

Neil, I’ve been adding more salads for family meals lately. I made a Greek style tuna salad a couple days ago that turned out well. And replacing the mayo with a little olive oil and lemon juice made it healthier. I have to chop lettuces so it’s easier to feed them to OH, but I’ve always liked chopped salads anyway. Since he has a hard time with sandwiches other than P&J, it cuts down on the amount of bread we eat which isn’t a bad thing. I still enjoy my sourdough toast and Vegemite with my coffee in the morning, but I limit myself to two pieces of toast.

Two days ago there was a wild fire near here, mainly dry grass and brush in an area where they are doing home building. It was only about 4 miles from here, as the crow flies. We saw it right away on the tracking app we use. It quickly went from 1-5 acres to 15-20. We were able to see some of the smoke from our upstairs windows. DS and I were terrified. The thought of getting OH, 2 small dogs and 2 big birds, not to mention paperwork and other things into 2 cars and then where to go was paralyzing. Fortunately they got it under control within an hour or so. But many people in that area were evacuated. It grew to about 40 acres before they had it circled. We could hear the planes going over and dropping water. That is the closest a fire that size has come to us. It wasn’t a FD, but might as well have been. I made dinner for DS and OH, but I barely ate any. There’s another fire about 15-20 miles from here in a mountain forested area. It’s far enough from here and not burning in this direction but it’s grown to over 1,500 acres. Much of it is being fought by air because it’s not very accessible. Many people in nearby towns have been evacuated. Such a scary year! It feels overwhelming sometimes.

Between not eating much Wednesday and then my FD yesterday, I lost .8kg, putting me into the 66’s. Now I have to be careful to keep moving in that direction. It does feel good to have looser fitting clothes and my knee is feeling considerably better. I think we sometimes forget what stress even a few extra kg’s can put on our bodies, especially as we get older.

Cinque, I ordered some grits. They are more popular in the southern states than here so I don’t think to buy them. But now hearing you talking about them, I have the taste for them again.

Time to go before OH wakes up. Have a great day everyone!

Day 9 North Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

I had a lovely time with my youngest daughter and her family despite the weather not being very good. They all went home this morning so I am doing my fast day today instead of yesterday. I have eaten quite a lot over the last few days so it’s going to take a good few fast days to undo all the damage I have done. I also need to get back to not drinking alcohol in the week. I have had a very stressful morning trying to sort out my neighbours continuous glucose monitor. He is 91. He gave me a phone number to try and order a replacement. 4 phone calls later and still no success I had to resort to ringing his surgery. That was a palaver too. Anyway it’s sorted now. Why do they make things so difficult for the elderly. 😩

@fatrabbit I loved the book called the Salt Path, such an inspiring story. I follow them on instagram too. Have you read the second book?

@bert1802 hope your ducks are getting back into a straight line this month.

@metatauta I hope you have got your grips with your new iPhone. I love the iPhone. I bought a new one recently so I could take loads of photos of our new granddaughter.

@northgeorgia I do hope you are better now.

@excelsior12309 sorry your weight is stuck. Hope you get some losses soon.

    @merryapple I love a salty hit but I hate marmite 🤢

@stitchincarol hope you feel better soon. Well done for your 3lb drop.

@flourbaby it’s horrible when you self sabotage a FD, you go all day without food and then go silly in the evening. I too need to be aware of the triggers that cause it.

@funshipfreddie well done for getting below 70kg.

@jaifaim so sorry to hear about the loss of 3 dear friends to cancer. Cancer is such a cruel disease. I lost a dear friend too last November to cancer. I still can’t believe she has gone 😢 Alcohol too affects me and makes me make poor food choices.

@snowflake56 I try really hard never to buy biscuits or cakes. To be fair I am not really tempted by them. I can resist chocolate too if I eat some at least once a week. Crisps and nuts are another matter though, I really do crave them at times.

    @jospeirs welcome to the group.

@brightonbelle have a lovely time in Porto.

    @ccco I echo @stitchincarol concerns

@ccco Tell us about your FDs and your successes and in what way you’re faltering. I’m a bit concerned that you posted you were fasting on Day 5, 7, 8, and now 9–a few days each week is healthy, but four days out of five is extreme for anyone, and as tiny as you are (you’re below 120lbs, right?) and given the health challenges you faced in June, are you sure you’re getting enough of the nutrients you need? And protein? How many calories are you eating on your FDs? What foods are you eating? Please forgive me if I’m overstepping, but I’m truly apprehensive for you. ❤️

Got hammered at bowls lost 21-4 but they’re was worst than me. I think we got a record low team score. But they slaughter every team when they play at home. Turned into a nice sunny day, my son’s home to Wolverhampton to watch wrestling, he’s staying over so just Denise and I and Chloe😁.

Day 9 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

Oops, nope, @northgeorgia, the typo was all mine: 220s not 120s, LOL!

Just to clarify, I started my organ index back in the late 90s, and have printed off new ones every few years with the addition of new music. I did lots of fussing with some of the details this time, which required me to look at what wasn’t clear on my printed copy, and then open the file cabinet to see what the music actually was, and that was the great feeling of accomplishment that I finished it. And, @snowflake56, I do indeed struggle not to buy new music: it’s a delicate balance between it being an obsession, and new music fueling my enthusiasm for playing for church every Sunday. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was aware of a slightly uncomfortable throat when I went to bed last night, and this morning it’s red and raw and my voice is only half there. I’m hopeful this goes away as fast as it came on, whatever it is, but it’s certainly removed most of my interest in chatter.

    @merryapple Wherefore art thou???????

    Have a grand one, everyone!!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning it’s cool outside very windy. The sun is trying to come out.We play a team at bowls today who never lose on their own green,I know now that we will get beat 8-0 but it’s just a game,I would be happy to get into double figures, don’t think I’ve ever managed it on this green.I got then to recalculate my food allowance and she did do it’s now dropped a bit. So I’ll stick to the new allowance.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Morning everyone, a long time since I’ve posted I had to login to comment.
Have had a trying time including our Grandog Poppy having to be put to sleep due to being riddled with cancer and she was only just over five years old bless her.
I haven’t read everyone’s posts as I’ve not been on here but hope everyone is keeping well.
My scales showed a half pound lost this morning which I’m pleased about.
My friend who suffered a stroke is now back home and takes a fifteen minute walk every day, also able to walk up and down the stairs. We saw her last week and she looks a little tired but fortunately her speech and mind have not been affected.
My Auntie has also been in and out of Addenbrookes hospital again due to her own Dr changing her medication prescription that she was discharged with prior to her previous discharge ,the Drs at Addenbrookes put her back on their prescription but she had to stay in for five days to allow them to start working, she was discharged on Monday and when I saw her yesterday she was looking and sounding so well.
Am continuing with my 18:6 ,1300 daily calories as it seems to suit me still.
Hot weather is forecast here again for the next few days so BBQ will be used.
    Chinese takeaway this evening.
    Have a good weekend everyone.

    Day 9, London, UK, NFD

Yesterday’s FD went a bit off the rails, self-sabotage!! I never know why I just end up saying “Sod it!!”, especially at 7pm!!!😡😡 I’ll need to look out for the triggers!

@funshipfreddie and @snowflake56 I’m envious of your dancing, perhaps once I’ve moved in I can look for a local class, although coordination is NOT my strong point!!🤭🤣

    I refuse, Refuse, REFUSE to Google those biscuits!!😓 @funshipfreddie, you’re a braver (wo)man than I am!!!

@stitchincarol, I’m exhausted just reading about your music task!! Well done on completing it, as a professional procrastinator, I guess I would still be talking to myself about how to START it!!😁😁

Ok, back to work, I’m sooo happy it’s Friday, not wanting to wish my life away, but at 5pm I get to think/sort/do house stuff!!!

    Keep the faith folks💓

Good morning everyone in our little corner. Xxxx

It looks a lovely day today after raining well drizzle all day yesterday.

Rain stopped play out in the garden so got on with some cleaning inside. I get waylaid when its lovely weather .. I go to the bin and end up pulling weeds lol Fighting Ivy at the moment its strangling a big shrub around the roots. lol

Weighed this morning as I do every morning ( I don’t like getting a nasty surprise ) my weight is good and stable.. although not eating healthy and proper meals.
No sweets or savouries so I expect that helps.

Dave.. A good idea to stop buying your biscuits .. you cant be tempted then.

Steve .. Hope the sun shines for you today..Do you go for walks.

Sym.. You have done well this week with your fasts hopefully the scales are good today.

H H .. You will soon get off that half a pound .. always so very active. What are you reading. I am just reading Bobby Girls.. They allowed women to join the police in W W 1.. It was hard for them though to be taken seriously by men. .

Sarah and Nana how is the week going for you.

Enjoy your day everyone.. An open book can help you learn. An open mind can help you grow.…Xxxx

    Day 9 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 69.8 kg

I thought I’d struggle with yesterday’s FD after having one on Tuesday too, but it was a doddle. Doddle = Brit speak for very easy 😅 Below 70 kg for the first time in a couple of months 🎯

@jaifaim – why did you buy those those biscuits?! I wouldn’t dare 😱 I’m impressed that you actually let them sit there for so long 🍪

@stitchincarol – something tells me @northgeorgia would be horrified if he reached the 120’s! 🤣

@snowflake56 – I’m dying to learn the Jerusalema. I heard that was one of the first dances our group learned after the lock-down, which was a couple of years before I moved here. I think I’m going to learn it myself via YouTube, & then persuade our group to start doing it again. I just Googled Bastogne biscuits; they look both delicious & deadly, & they’re available on Amazon for…$14!

    Happy Fri-yay y’all! 🍹

    Day 9 Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾
    154.5lbs

@snowflake56 ah yes I remember those biscuits! Unfortunately off the menu for me now anyway as I am gluten intolerant…that doesn’t make eating a whole pack any better though as there are not necessarily less calories…
I had a good FD yesterday so back into maintenance range. The goal is not to move up out of it so I need to keep an eye…
@stitchincarol my gosh… so much music! And an enormous spreadsheet – what a job!
Hi to those checking in! Great to see you @ccco and @metatauta 👋
@northgeorgia it is great that your body is in tune with your goal!! Seems mostly a drop direction looking at your trend… 💪

@flourbaby like you… I’m tight on time and focus this week too … you’ve got this!

@funshipfreddie and @snowflake56 I’m off to look up your dances now… this forum is so educational 🌎

So.. one thing I’m not sure I’ve experienced is the joy of feeling hungry that some of you report … my aim … next week is to see if I like that feeling… or not… I don’t know if I will…. But I am curious 🤔

Hi to all the Atomic August gang…. Even if you are not posting I know you are there and we’ll see you soon. ⭐️

Super busy day today involving work, travel, a service later in my hometown remembering one of my beautiful friends who passed recently… I’ve lost three beautiful friends this year to cancer.. it’s been a sad year but all phenomenal people gone way too soon (all in their 50s). It makes me realise how precious this one life is and how lucky we are. I am grateful!
Let’s do everything to keep ourselves healthy and sane gang 🥰

    2nd post

I just looked up the ingredients of the “Bastogne” biscuits, this is really bad: Wheat flour 45%, candy sugar 20%, vegetable fat, sugar, candy syrup, eggs, raising agent: sodium hydrogen carbonate, glucose syrup, flavors, spices, salt. The fat used is palm oil.

    Day 9, Germany, NFD

I think my yesterday’s FD came closer to a FD800 but that’s fine.

@jaifaim About eating a whole packet of biscuits, it happened to me a few weeks ago. Have you ever tried the delicious “Bastogne” biscuits by Lu? If not, don’t buy them, they have ~ 1250 cals per package and they will be gone in no time.

@stitchincarol Of course I know how much vegetables I should eat but I just don’t like them very much. I can’t digest salads very well so I avoid them. I’m more a bread, butter, cheese person, no problem having that for every meal. The potassium/sodium/glucose problem is something I have for ages. You must have cupboards full of organ/piano music. I keep the piano/traverse flute music I currently play in the music room, the rest of it is stored in the basement. It’s so tempting to buy new music, isn’t it.

@merryapple What an honour to be photographed for the Cider Museum in Kent. Can we see your picture somewhere?

@funshipfreddie Good to hear that Boo Boo is being herself again! I had to look up “The Last Shanty”, it looks doable. We did the “Wellerman” but we don’t dance it anymore because we collectively disliked it. Everyone’s favourites still are “Jerusalema” and “Billy Jean”.

    Have a nice day everyone!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Morning Cinque, I don’t think the protein was specifically for the dopamine hit, I think it was more the reasoning that if you have a protein rich snack first, it fills you up. Then you’re less likely to want the sugary, starchy, salty stuff afterwards.

I’ve been feeling pretty good this week, I’ve been biking in every day and taken a bit of a cruise after work a couple of times, except for yesterday. Yesterday I felt exhausted and really hungry all day, so I listened to my body and took the car into work and ate slightly more than normal. I’ve been averaging 1800 calories a day for the last few days, I upped it to 2100 yesterday. It seemed to work because I was feeling a lot more energetic and less hungry today.

Snap Cinque, I didn’t have a veggie bake, but I made a salad using similar ingredients to what you used in your bake. I had a salad with Halloumi, salami, capers, lettuce, celery, and capsicum for lunch today.

I had to laugh today, I asked my wife if she wanted leek and potato soup tonight for dinner, she said “yes, without buns” I said “You don’t want buns?” and she immediately said “I like buns, I thought I could resist the temptation of extra carbs, I’m weak, I want buns” That didn’t take much prompting. I’m deliberately having less food during the day today because I know I’m likely to have some movie snacks tonight, so I’m saving a few calories to make up for it. Avocado for breakfast, my halloumi salad for lunch, leek and potato soup for dinner, and a flat white for snack is around 1300 calories, which will leave me 500-800 for movie snacks and still be around my calorie goal for the day.

I hope everyone else is good, Have a great weekend all

    Evening!
Steve- I agree with the unjoyful half a cookie! Good you like the new TV… don’t think I could ever be bothered to set one up myself, I’d have to go without, or get Dave to come down & help 😂
Dave- hope the book is more fun than it sounds…well done with the bowling.
Jean- well done with your fasting, hope the scales are nice tomorrow!
Hemmy-, Nana, Sarah- hope you’re all okay…
Had a bit easier day today, took Xena for a walk by the river as it was beautiful first thing- only let her off for a bit as the tide was out & the mud was a bit tempting for her! Did some cleaning, had a read in the garden, made some biscoff ice-cream for pudding tomorrow. Youngest son has had a busy day on call- there’s been 2 big fires & another couple of smaller jobs…
I’m half a pound up this week, only did one FD…

I finally didn’t draw their best player, I won, don’t know what score. Tomorrow it doesn’t matter who I play they are all virtually unbeatable on the place where we play them. If be happy to get double figures.

Day 8 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

Yesterday was decent enough, although not as minimal as I’d intended…afternoon and evening temptations were stronger than my determination. I’m clearly needing to work on my RESOLVE. And don’t forget that 3-pound drop was merely the absence of digesting food in my belly. This morning I’m at 163.4, a pound down from when we got home, so I’m suspecting I’ve behaved well enough (and was dealing with EOEO pounds) that I’m down a “real” pound, but not the three that simply looked lovely.

@snowflake56 Have you seen the guidelines that show how much of a dinner plate should be devoted to veggies, how much to protein, and how much to carbs? That might help you to consciously increase your veggies. Do you like salads? Summer salads as meals are something I adore. And putting veggies into casseroles and spaghetti sauces are common hacks for moms trying to get veggies into their kids. You might google how to increase veggies and see if that helps at all. But I’m fascinated that your sodium is always too low!

@merryapple How lovely to feel so clean and sparkly…every now and again I have everything come together and know that feeling. Tell us more about this photo with an apple!

@northgeorgia Sometimes it’s those tiny changes that feel the most encouraging when we’re struggling so much with life challenges and self-control; I’m excited for you to see the 120s and not go back up!

Okay, not much chatter, but I have lots to do this morning. Yesterday, I completely finished my organ music index (prompted by all that music I bought on vacation) and got the 126 pages (with 7,897 lines in Excel) printed, and today I’ll put it in its binder. Then I have a boatload of music to put away. It’s always something, LOL!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 8 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 231 lbs. My weight loss trend is interesting. I think my body is readjusting to the idea that losing weight is the goal. I’m no longer wildly going up in spikes. I had a drop from the 235 average at the last couple weeks of June to the start of July. Then the 10-day average fell steadily a couple of pounds July 1 – 17, staying at 233. There was another drop in the 10-day average from July 17 – 26, where it has remained pretty steady at 231 since.
