Evening!
Dave- fish slime, lovely 😂 Denise is doing well! Hope you can find somewhere to go on holiday, you might get a bargain…
I have done keto for quite a while before, it is difficult, but I don’t feel very good when I eat too many carbs so hope I’ll feel better with it…
Another hot day here, did our shopping, a big pile of ironing I’ve been putting off, & made some cheese bread again we had with salad tonight (while I can still eat it 😂).
Hope everyone is okay…
Good evening,a pleasant day’s fishing, caught a few so not a bad day. Had a shower to get rid of the fish slime. Chloe was sniffing it🤪😁. Denise is under 800 again so she’s doing great.I think we might be going to book a holiday tomorrow 🙏🫰.
Day 14 UK f800
So glad you are feeling a bit better @stitchincarol
And 🤞 @molij
Been run ragged today with loads of last minute organising DS27 has just shared needs to be done before he goes to Spain for a year Definitely putting time aside tomorrow for a good catch up
Day 14 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
I believe I am returning to the land of the living. I was not all that sick, but was sick enough that I did absolutely nothing but sit, knit when I felt like it, and have the TV on for entertainment. I’m up two pounds, but am trusting that with some movement, they’ll fall away again, because I truly did not eat badly.
@bert1802 I’m enjoying the “music” you gave us the link for. It’s soothing and relaxing. I have a real problem believing it’ll cause me to lose weight, but it’s pleasant. 🤷🏻♀️
@funshipfreddie Your mosaic class sounds delightful!
I slept well last night, and took the last of my anitibiotic and steroid this morning, so it’s time to see if I can’t get some energy into these bones, tidy up the corner of the sofa I’ve occupied for the last few days, and come to life.
Have a grand one, everyone!
Day 14 North Wales 🏴 FD
Pocket list – day 14
@northgeorgia
@molij
Day 14 – USA/GA – FD?
Weigh-in: 232 lbs. Planning on a FD today. Only putting a question mark because of the congestion, the retirement of the director of one of our partners, and the ever possible invitation to lunch by my boss. However, all of those put together into derailing my fast today is very low. Still choosing the FD500 over the WFD; weight loss seems slower day-to-day, but looks at this moment to be working long-term when limiting UPFs on NFDs.
Pocket list – day 14
@northgeorgia
Day 14-No. VA USA-FD 800
Weather having a little “cool” break with temps in the 80’s but much lower humidity. My fasting has been a bit raggedy, but weight is stable, so there’s that. I will do a more controlled fast 800 today.
@flourbaby, how is the painting of the new house coming along? That will brighten things greatly. Then you will surely look at some of your furniture and say, “oh, I can’t live with THIS old thing!”
It is exciting to have a new garden, too!
@jaifaim, your mom is indeed lucky to have such a caring family.
@merryapple, the recipe for the zucchini cake sounds delicious. I would have to go buy some in order to make it, however. I do remember as a child growing them and finding the gigantic ones that did not seem to be there the day before, and then WHAM–a 15 inch monster. My father used to say, “Plant the seeds and stand back!”
@snowflake56, we used to have plum trees, but they never yielded much and what they had often were misshapen by disease or bugs. We didn’t ever spray them, though, that might have helped, but I didn’t like the idea.
@stichincarol, I hope you are feeling better today. Stupid Covid.
Down we go!
Day 14, London, UK, NFD,
Yesterday’s FD was epic!!! I was so busy at work that I managed to swerve lunch and took my soup home for dinner, closing the kitchen at about 360 cals. I must get around to using those eggs though! Perhaps tonight’s dinner.🤔
@brightonbelle, your mojo is positively glowing!!🌟
@jaifaim, it never seems like complaining, I love to hear about your care for your mum, it warms my heart!🤗🤗🤗
@bert1802, a lb is a lb is a lb ………………….. in a month it’ll be 4lbs!! 🥳🥳 & in a year 52lbs!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@merryapple, I think for me the rewarding comes in shoe form!!! Although, now I have a garden, I’ve spent a FORTUNE on garden ‘stuff’……………………. And I haven’t even moved in yet!!!🤣🤣🤣
@snowflake56, the new garden has 2 very laden plum trees, one with what I believe are Victoria plums(?) deep purple slightly smaller than a lime, and another pinky red variety, not as sweet and a bit smaller. I’m going to have to identify the varieties properly at some point before the birds (and me) scoff the lot!🤭
@funshipfreddie, I forgot to comment on your considering choosing “Uber Laundry” …………………… the height of decadence ……………………or laziness????!!!!🤣🤣🤣 I really need to retire, just so I can try line dancing and now mosaic making………………… I’m green with envy!!!
Must dash, the pile of work on my desk is NOT going to do itself!☹☹☹
“Remember that happiness is a way of travel – not a destination.” – Roy M. Goodman
Day 14 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
Mad weather here?! Yesterday it was a toasty 27 C. Winter is back today, max 15 C + gale-force winds 🥶️
The mosaic making was fun. I can’t believe how fast the 4 hours went. A stunning place too. I think I might make it a regular Tuesday morning activity. I’m very proud of the coasters I made 😅 It was just me, & about 15 females! I said to them, ‘so I guess the other guys come to the evening class?’. They all laughed & one of them said, ‘you’ll be bringing ear plugs next week’. Some of the stuff they’re making is incredible; some of them have been going there for a decade. There was a lot of free food there too, cakes & pastries. I was tempted, but… 😇
@merryapple – thanks for the recipe. I’ve never played ‘naughty scrabble’ – but I can imagine 😂 17 days to get below 70, easy peasy! 💪
@snowflake56 – I’m sure I’ve read at least one of Michael Pollan’s books. Can’t remember which one though. His golden rules are- eat REAL food, not too much, mostly plants’. Excellent advice. You’re at a health BMI, about 23.7? So if you’re happy with how you look & feel, then why not? Just stick to your FDs for the health benefits.
Gotta get ready for 🕺 Happy Hump Day! 🐫
Day 14, Germany, NDS
I couldn’t post yesterday morning, a Windows update blocked the computer. I had such a busy day, ballroom lesson, sports lesson, computer club and bowling. Today it’s just line-dance for me. It was very warm everywhere except at the computer club, outside it was 33°C, we don’t have that very often. We picked the first 8 kg of mirabelles, small yellow plums. It will be hard to pick the ones higher up on the tree, we’ll see.
@funshipfreddie I’m reading the food rules by Michael Pollan at the moment. Perhaps I should just stay at the weight I am now, my body seems to want it? It’s our line-dance day again, have fun.
@jaifaim Time spent with parents is time well spent, without them a large part of our own history is gone. It’s the same with friends, my best friend for 41 years died 3 years ago, we shared so much time together and I still miss her so much. I agree, mirabelles sound romantic, way better than plums!
@stitchincarol I’m sorry to hear you have Covid, I hope the worst part lies behind you now. We eat the mirabelles but give most of them to friends and neighbours. One year we had 48 kg, this year we have about the same I guess but most of it we can’t reach.
@molij That’s not good news, try no to panic (harder done than said, I know). I find the waiting time the worst, as soon as you know what can be done, you can move on and concentrate that. Why don’t they call you on your moble phone? My motivation to lose weight is bit lost but I’ll just go on as I know it’s good for my health to do so.
@merryapple Yes, mirabelles are small, yellow, sweet plums. I’m not fond of rice either, I only eat it in nasi goreng. I do eat vegetables but I way less than I should. Go for the 69.9kg, you’re so close!
Have a nice day everyone!
Day 14 NZ NFD 70.8kg
@funshipfreddie Interesting article! I did the math… The participants lost 1kg every 8 days over 2 months… Whew!! I’m happy to hear that fasting improves the axis between gut bacteria (microbiome) and my brain!!!
Now to Scrabble!! If only you were closer!! Have you ever played naughty Scrabble?? Whatever word you put down you have to define it in naughty terms!! It’s hilarious what people come up with!!
If I can get to 69.9kg by the end of the month I’ll be very happy!! It’s possible and🫰probable if I stay the course…
This is a wonderfully moist cake if you like denser cakes!! It’s popular here when the zucchinis in your garden suddenly and unexpectedly turn into marrows!!
The icing at the bottom makes too much. I always mean to halve it but forget!!

@flourbaby I’m frugal by nature except with cooking gear!! I used to buy coveted kitchenware to reward myself for loosing weight… In hindsight I should have been rewarding myself for keeping it off!!!🤣 Having said that, I do cook everyday so it’s been worthwhile for me.
@bert1802 Well done!! A lb is a lb or a block of butter!! Enjoy meeting up with your family. I have been across that NE border into Canada several times and its bringing back lovely memories.
@molij Could you possibly use your cell phone number for your appointment??
@northgeorgia 💪 Tantalizingly close!!
@stitchincarol Take it easy… Isn’t there a song about this?!
@jaifaim Nothing like blissful ignorance!! It does help to focus on choices rather than scales!!
@brightonbelle You sound lovely and energised!!
CONSISTENCY and CONTROL to one and all!!
Hello everyone,
Neil, I can relate to your wife with the buns!
I went back to see what I read that seemed to add to your your comment re protein and dopamine, and it must have been “You can increase your dopamine levels naturally by eating a healthy diet, including foods rich in tyrosine (the protein needed to make dopamine). These include nuts, seeds, dairy and meat.”
Congratulations on that good weekend, it sounds like your new strategies will pay off long term, but even though today’s weigh in wasn’t as much as you hoped, it was still a good one.
Cali, our news has turned to the terrible fires in Greece, but I hope the one near you is settled now, even if it is still burning.
Hooray for looser clothes and less knee pain! May it continue!
Oh boy, I do hope those grits weren’t responsible for that kilo gain! They are such solid carbs!
LJoyce, good luck with those solar panels.
And thanks, yes, I have cooked a couple of the frozen pasties and they did well on my enamel tray.
Good reminder about the legume thread! Note to self: time to make a legume recipe!
Do you eat many beans and lentil dishes SuzyQ?
Thin, congratulations on your 5:2 10th Anniversary!
https://media.tenor.com/VEcdSKZPVvYAAAAe/10th-anniversary.png
Great post!
My 5:2 tenth anniversary will be next year.
SuzyQ I hope you were able to enjoy your disastrous weekend while you were in it, and put it behind you now with lessons for next time and some good 5:2ing or 4:3ing to do.
I did a little bit of 4:3ing but if I remember rightly, only for a week or two as it is so much less sustainable. But good to do for a week (or maybe two).
What a darling daughter you have there!
Gday, I am so glad the weather is being kind to you and that you have found a lovely treat.
I watched the Hairy Bikers series on losing weight yesterday (12 years after it was made!). Fascinating to watch and lovely to see Dave Myers, I have such a soft spot for him. Vale.
I was surprised that the focus then was still completely to avoid fat. A lot has changed in health science in 12 years. But actually I don’t have much of a tolerance for fat (except in chocolate 😉 ) so I loved the recipes they came up with.
It is turning into a lovely day here, hope it is lovely where you are.
Best wishes all
Well done HH hope the keto works,I believe it’s very difficult to do.Chloe as gone to bed and left me. I’m going fishing later today but not too early.
Day 13….florida….NFD

I a bit behind in posting but I lost another lbs this week. Slow steady wins the race
Lots of flooding with the tropical storm, my prayers to those who are suffering because of the aftermath she left behind.
Above is the link for everyone on the sound waves I am listening to at night in hopes it will help in my efforts to lose a few lbs.
Well I am off, in Orlando this week for work and meeting family down here on vacation ( they live way up North less than 10 miles from the Canadian boarder)
I’ll catch up soon
Congratulations Thin on 10 years – you are living proof that ongoing 100% consistency in your chosen eating plan is the absolute key to success – it is what gets you there and what keeps you there long term.
I’m down 3.2 kg in just under 3 weeks. I have stuck religiously to my keto eating plan, eating 2 meals a day within a four hour window, absolutely no snacks in between, and fasting for around 48 hours approx every 10 days.
Being in constant ketosis feels right for me – I know why I did it for so many years in the past because I feel so good eating this way.
When my dear husband passed away in June 2022, I slowly slipped out of the keto way of life as the bad foods crept in as a stress reliever. I’ve found it so easy to slip back into full keto eating again.
Yesterday Miss GDay and I went back through my last 10 years worth of weigh-ins, body measurements and my food diary. It was so interesting to look at the correlation between the food diary and the weight/body measurements. What we choose to eat and when we choose to eat it is most certainly what we become.
The warm weather the last week or so has been so good. Mid 20’s during the day and the cold nights have disappeared, now I just have a sheet and a light quilt on the bed. Feels great to wake up and don shorts and tshirt instead of the winter woolies.
I have a new favourite healthy indulgence food – avocado chocolate mousse. Avo, cacao powder, mct oil, milk kefir, vanilla bean and a few drops of peppermint essence. It tastes so good – I have become slightly addicted- lol.
Evening!
Jean- glad that Charlie is okay today, they are such a worry! Well done with the fasting, the liquid ones do seem to be all that work for me now…
Dave- poor Denise, I feel for her, not easy dieting when you’re fed up & in pain! Hope you can get a holiday in…
Hemmy- nice Kristy is coming again!
Nana- good that your friend is improving. Hugs to you all, you must be missing Poppy 🤗
Steve- good you’re making use of your headphones! Well done with your fast…
Just been enjoying the hot weather the last few days, Mum came for a BBQ one night, we’ve been out to the beach & lunch out at a riverside pub…not fasted, we decided to have a nice week before I start back on keto as eating out can be hard for me …there’ll be time for fasting next week!
Days 12, 13 – USA/TN – NFD
Morning all.
My weigh-in today was down 300g, so less than I was hoping for, but better than nothing. It’s my third consecutive week of losses now, so it is good signs.
Thin, I missed your post. Congrats on a decade of fasting!
Have a good one everyone.
Day 13 North Wales 🏴 NFD
Thank you all for your messages of support. I am trying to stay positive as best I can. It’s not helping that I am going to my sisters on Thursday until Tuesday. I think the distraction will be good for me but I am worried that I might miss the phone call. My neighbour is going to check the post for me incase my appointment comes by letter.
@northgeorgia glad your weight loss is improving.
@stitchincarol so sorry you have COVID. I did wonder. Hopefully you won’t feel ill for too long. Enjoy the knitting and TV.
@jaifaim blissful ignorance about your weight is good. I didn’t get on the scales last month and I am not going to this month until the end. I get so disappointed when I don’t see a loss or if I see a gain.
Hope everyone has a good day x
This man helped me the most in losing weight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCyECbA3pUw, following his advice I lost the first 5 kilograms very easily, so I hope I will reach my dream weight
Day 13 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
I’m trying to pretend I’m far better, but I just refreshed my browser when I meant to click on the other tab, and so lost all that I’d typed already.
So instead of trying to recreate any of it, I’m just going to report I’m slowly improving, and then sign off and pick up my knitting.
Perhaps I’ll feel like chatting later.
Don’t the shopping, Chloe met a dog that’s her own size, she’s seen it before it made a beeline fire her once it seen her but did stop when it got close to her, she was ok with it. I asked Denise about pills but she didn’t say one way or the other so not pushing it. Going to look now if I can find a nice hotel in Benidorm only everyone seen Benidorm on TV and I dint mean the show.My maggots arrived in the post cost £6 postage 🤪 the maggots are cheaper. Got dinner worms as well from Willy Worms😁. Lots to do if we’re going away in a month.
Afternoon All..
Charlie seems to be back to normal they do worry you.. he goes strange before a seizure but it has passed. He did have a bad somersault do with another dog in the morning maybe he was sore or in shock…
Cut the grass and I have been shopping… just sat outside in the shade having a cuppa..
I really don’t know about these long fasts, just the 5.2 works for me….. I lost the 2lb then put it back on over 2 days when eating, this long last fast lost 1 lb..
Although the not eating is quite easy to do better than I thought.
Dave..
Have you asked Denise if doc gave her tablets? Hope they did to help her start.
Hemmy…
Charlie likes it very hot outside, I wish he drank more water…..strange I like soup in hot weather. I have done bacon open so might have a butty tonight.
Nice to have Kirsty coming up for a few days.
Nana..
Good your friend is improving 🤞🏻
Jean x
Day 13 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 230 lbs. Oh so tantalizingly close, but a few ounces holding on. It will happen 🙂
Still congested, but like my weight…things are slowly improving LOL
Good morning and what a beautiful day. Xxxx
Early walk .. then a sit and coffee.. now just going to have a clean upstairs. Kristy here Fri..
Hopefully we miss the storms .. at the moment nothing on our local BBC weather chart.
Not sure what to have for meals today… I have lots of veg to use up… Maybe a soup.
Sym.. How is Charlie today .. its very hot for them ..Pips in and out not settling.. I have put water in a spray bottle and keep spraying him .. Yes the grass is growing very quickly at the moment mines due for a cut Thursday .
Enjoy your day everyone. You have to let go of the life you have to blossom in a new way. Xxxx
Day 13
Ireland – CD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Hi all, I am happy with my Monday FD.
A few good walks yesterday and an early morning trot on the beach today. No scales here so in blissful ignorance this week.
@molij I’m so sorry to hear you have an urgent follow on… I do hope it is nothing sinister and as the others have said try to focus on your daily routine and don’t worry too much… I know it is far easier said than done…💕
@stitchincarol oh no… I did wonder if it was the dreaded Covid but many people are not testing now and didn’t want to ask 😬 I hope you rest up and eat well as @merryapple says … hopefully you will be over it soon.
@merryapple we are but we are so happy to do so… she is full of love and although not totally with us she knows she is in her safe and comfortable home 💕 Alzheimer’s is the longest goodbye.. I know many of you have walked this path (most recently @flourbaby 🥰 they would be so so proud!) so you understand and I hope I never come across as if I am complaining… I am so so so blessed to have this time. 💕
@snowflake56 how was your dancing?💃🏻 Love the word mirabelles far more than plum 😂
@funshipfreddie ah stop!!! Uber the laundry to its destination – that’s the best I’ve heard yet 😂😂😂😂😂
@northgeorgia keep at it! You’ll crack it and @brightonbelle it’s great to see you back. ⭐️
Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕
Good morning people,a dullish day here and rain expected this afternoon, it always rains when we go shopping.Chloe met a big dog in the park she’s seen it before so she didn’t try to get away. it’s about the same size as her but very gentle. Going fishing tomorrow waiting for my maggots and worms to be delivered in the post.
Day 13 UK ??
Just a quick check in , back later than expected yesterday but a good nights sleep and I’m raring to go , thinking maybe a fast day but not sure if that’s doable , maybe I’ll try and if it’s a fail I’ll do one tomorrow
I’ll catch up on posts this afternoon ☀️
Day 13, London, UK, FD
So the result from a weekend of NFDs was ever so slightly delayed!!! 2lbs up and NOT happy!!😡 I have to be realistic though, I’ve only managed 1 successful FD this month because I started a bit late on Day 4, so I’m keeping the faith and I WILL have 2 successful FDs this week, the fridge is groaning under the weight of eggs so I’ll have no excuse!!💪🏼💪🏼
@merryapple, my furniture has been in storage for nearly 4 years, had it had the usual wear & tear I could justify new everything!!! As it is, I doubt I’ll need to replace anything other than my bed for a while yet, unless I suddenly come into money, then my frugal nature will take a backseat & I’ll spend, spend, spend!!💎🤑💎🤑
@stitchincarol, I hope you recover soon, I think you’ve suffered through the worst of it without knowing!!! Sending some healing vibes your way, just take it easy & make sure your DH is at your beck & call!!😂😂
Onward & downwards folks!!💪🏼💪🏼

Pocket List – Day 13 💪🏼🎇
Flourbaby
Day 13 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@merryapple – is that a challenge? I can be VERY competitive 😛 You wouldn’t want to take me on at Scrabble either 😅 Zucchini & chocolate?! 😳
@molij – sending you good vibes for your appointment 🤗 Laundry isn’t my favourite job either, so I drop it off & pick it up the next day. I was even toying with the idea of chucking it in an Uber, but then I relented & did the 28 km round-trip.
@stitchincarol – oh no?! Wishing you a speedy recovery 🤗
Fasting-style diet changes human brains:-
https://www.sciencealert.com/fasting-style-diet-seems-to-result-in-dynamic-changes-to-human-brains
Gotta dash. I’m attending a 4 hour art/mosaic workshop thingy this morning, & it’s a half-hour drive to get there. It might be fun…
Day 13 11am Tuesday NZ NFD 70.7kg
Morning all!
@jaifaim Your mother must be very proud of you and your siblings. You are taking beautiful care of her.
@stitchincarol NOOOO!! That raspy voice is so distinctive of COVID… Make sure you keep up with both carbs and proteins esp with a temperature. Covid is very efficient at cannibalising your lean body mass.
Enjoy knitting if you can concentrate… That lovely fair isle will be ready for the cold months hopefully with two sleeves!! I have finished spinning my silver Gotland wool but I am a little short for a jersey with cables which is what I wanted to make… I have approached the sheep owner in the hopes of getting more of the same fleece and she is looking. I need about 1.2 or 1.3km minimum and I have finished up with 0.948km… I might have to knit it it on larger needles with less cables… or cast on and make a band for the sleeves and body with darker wool… Hmmm!!
@molij I hope your test results turn out to be fine. Remember, like @flourbaby says, it’s nothing until it’s something!! Just keep riding your bike and enjoying the fresh air!!
You have reminded me I need to go buy some cream too!! The icing is melted chocolate, butter, icing sugar and black coffee… I very rarely ice cakes for obvious reasons.
@snowflake56 That’s right! Mirabelles are plums!! Such a pretty name for them. I make plum jam with star anise, plum and brandy jam and bottled some or as @stitchincarol says, canned them in glass ie bottled!! When I need to cut back the calories I make vegetable soup, which is quick, easy and filling. I know you’re not keen on vegetables but maybe you could add some rice in to thicken the cooked vegetables and blend everything up???
@flourbaby You sound lovely and excited about moving in. I imagine you looking for a gorgeous art deco table and chairs for your dinning room!! It’s a very elegant design period.
I have just purchased a large vintage Turkman red wool Persian rug with black and white for the sitting room at auction. It took me ten+ years to find one at the right price and size and colour way. It was super fun looking!!
@northgeorgia I have my fingers crossed for you to break the 230 barrier!!!
Big Hi!! to @bert1802, @fatrabbit, @metatauta, @brightonbelle, @at and @excelsior12309
Consistency and Control to all!!!
Morning Suzy. When I first started with fasting I started at 132.5 kilos and did the fast 800 (800 calories a day) I felt so good on that, that I did that for 12 weeks and lost 23 kilos. Then I moved to 4:3 for another couple of months, then 5:2, then 6:1 when I got closer to my goal weight. I went from 132.5 to 85 kilos in around 11 months.
If you don’t think you can manage 3 fast days, you can look at your calorie expenditure as a weekly thing. I don’t know what your TDEE is, but say it’s 1800 calories per day, which is 12,600 per week. If you have a big blowout and eat like 3,000 calories, you could do three fasts to get you back on track, or you could do 1 or 2 fasts and then jut reduce the calories you eat on the rest of the days of the week. Eating 1500 calories a day instead of 1800.
Good that you got a bit of a break Cali, we’re the other way, we’re getting a break in the weather this week, which means the temperature is a few degrees warmer than it has been. We’re supposed to hit 16-17 degrees for the next few days, rather than the 10 degrees we got yesterday. We usually get 2 or 3 decent snow falls per year (I count a decent snow fall as more than 5cm on the ground). But this year we haven’t had any decent snow. We’ve had snow falling a few times, but it hasn’t settled at all. We usually get a decent one in September, so there’s still hope.
Well have a good one everyone. I’ll check in tomorrow for my weigh-in
At the speedway writing this while they have an interval. Were winning by 8 points but don’t think it will be enough to get the bonus point. Denise was on the phone to the doctor asking about some pills to help her, I overheard her while I was in bed She’s not said anything about it so don’t know what was said.Hungry now not had any food today.
Evening everyone, what a scorcher of a day its been – we’re sitting outside in the garden at the moment as its cooled down to 27°C.
Enjoyed a nice weekend and I could see a marked improvement in my friday night friend.
Jean well done on your fast and hope Charlie picks up.
Steve well done to you also on your fd.
Dave a shame about Denise’s operation but a holiday sounds good.
Hope everyone is keeping alright and enjoy the rest of your evening everyone.

second post
Well, crap. I was determined to stay cheerful despite how tired and awful I felt…when the “tired” part of that popped into my brain surrounded by neon lights.
Yup. Positive for Covid.
So now I won’t bother to feel guilty for sitting and knitting all day with some fun TV programs to entertain me…but I’m sure tired of being sick, and am losing my determination to stay cheerful, LOL!
Evening All..
I have done a 26 hour fast, then very hungry didn’t want to nibble so ate…350 cals.
A funny day warm but very overcast, humid.
Just heard Singapour airlines are finishing my flight next year to Texas… it means Heathrow I don’t know if I can do that. It means a train, getting then across London on tube, and carrying my case then hotel over night.
Charlie is a bit off ish been in his bed all day… he had a do with a dog this morning and fell on his side.. I think he might be sore..more his fault.. they came round the corner and took him by surprise…
Dave..
Hope they may give Denise some tablets to kick start her…Benidorm sounds a good idea.. go for it..
Hemmy…
Jacqui lives 35/49 mins away so not too bad, we have had road works on the bridge for 4 years so it slows us down. She is coming here on Thursday.
I need to cut the grass tomorrow..
Steve.,
Good the ear phones are working well..
Keep going faster..
Jean x
Good evening all
It’s Monday so it’s my usual fasting schedule today nil by mouth except for very low or zero calorie drinks.
I’m very happy with my new headphones which I did get to use at silly o’clock this morning as I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep.
Good luck to all those fasting today and remember it’s only for one day and tomorrow we can eat normally.
Denise is looking at going on holiday in a month tho Benidorm, We’ve never been there before. She said seeing that she won’t get her knee done we may as well go on holiday. I won at bowls today played another good player but just won 21-19.
Day 12, London, UK, NFD
I’m holding steady after a weekend of NFDs, weight neither up nor down!!! I’ve got to be chuffed with that!!!
@funshipfreddie & @snowflake56, I’ll certainly have a look for a local class once I’ve moved in and FINALLY settled into my new home, although knowing me, I’ll find a million odd jobs to beautify my home that’ll keep me busy!! Trying to organise a cleaning company to do the carpets, kitchen, bathroom & conservatory ………………… everything’s just a wee bit grubby🤢 apart from the 3 newly decorated rooms! He should be finished tomorrow🙏🏼😊😊.
@jaifaim, yes, Yes, YES!!! Whatever time you spend with your dear maman now is priceless, in what I hope is the very, very distant🤞🏽 future, you’ll want just 1 minute more!😥 When I think of the days I would say “I’ll visit mum & dad tomorrow”, I think I should have said I’ll visit mum & dad today AND tomorrow😥, c’est la vie, what I had was precious, what I didn’t have ……………….. I didn’t have anyway. The house purchase palaver is very emotional at the moment, they would have been so proud, very happy and of course, eager to offer advice & decorating tips down to the location of the sofa!!🥰🤗🥰 💔
@merryapple, yes the 7pm munchies are 100% boredom based!!
Sending some positive vibes your way @molij. As you said, stay focussed …………………… it’s nothing until it’s something. And it may not be anything!!💪🏼💪🏼
Ok, today has flown by, time to get ready to leave work ……………… 51mins & counting!!!😁😁
“Families are like fudge – mostly sweet with a few nuts.”
Day 12 – Rural Nebraska, USE – NFD
It all started with @merryapple (who’s oddly silent…??? AH! Just saw her post) and then @northgeorgia, and now me. I hope none of the rest of you get this crud we have somehow passed along over cyber lines, LOL. I’m past the point of being actually sick with it, and now just snuffling and coughing and generally miserable. At least I can mostly talk.
@snowflake56 How lovely to have those plums! Will you can them?
@merryapple You sound busy and happy; I hope all the planning for Billy’s exhibition is going smoothly.
@molij Oh, dear! With my scare last spring (which turned out to be NOTHING), I fully understand the concern you’re feeling. Keep us posted, and we’ll encourage and hold you up!
Have a grand one, everyone!
Day 12 North Wales 🏴 FD
Another stressful day, I went to the Doctors this morning to get the results of my scan yesterday. I have been referred for an urgent 2 week appointment with a specialist which is a worry. Trying to stay focused on my fast day and hoping the appointment comes through quickly as I am going away in 3 weeks for a fortnight.
@northgeorgia hope your congestion goes soon and I hope you get a whoosh period.
@stitchincarol hope you are feeling better. So sorry you missed your friends grandchildren.
@funshipfreddie enjoy your laundry. Not one of my favourite jobs.
@snowflake56 hope your motivation picks up. What are you going to do with your mirabelles?
@jaifaim it’s so hard being on the road a lot when your parents are ill. I used to travel frequently to see my Mum when she was ill. I used to go at the weekend because I was working all week and the Friday traffic was always horrendous. It used to take me 4.5 hours instead of the 3 hours it should have taken. Glad you have siblings to help.
@merryapple your chocolate zucchini cake sounds lovely. I would love the cake but not the icing as I don’t really like icing. I do however love cream.

Day 12 – USA/GA – FD?
Weigh-in: 232 lbs. Ugh, I wish I could shake this congestion! Anyway, other than that I’m feeling fine.
I might crack the 230s again today, if the FD goes as planned. Lately, it’s just been a couple of pounds or a little less, which means I might get to 231 or 230 at best. But one never knows! If I did a WFD, I’m sure I would — but I’ve found my weight doesn’t go insane if I stick to 500 calories or less on FDs. I probably will try some occasional WFDs in the future, but not while I’m sickly 🙂 According to what happened in July, I’m approaching a whoosh period where my average weight should drop a few more pounds, which should put me averaging 229 in September. Fingers crossed!
My weight is like gasoline/petrol prices. It goes down a penny at a time, but goes up a quarter of a dollar overnight 🙂

Day 12 NZ 10pm Monday! FD 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Hello everyone! Time just slipped away on me because of a busy schedule. I’m working on Billy’s exhibition which is taking up a lot of my time in quite varied ways. I am also being entertained by friends😄… I need to learn to do a quick check in and not worry too much if I cannot respond to everyone!! I do enjoy the posts and have had an enjoyable evening reading them all to catch up! This evening I have made a chocolate zucchini cake with horrendously calorific icing for my Texas friend’s birthday. I have to make sure he leaves with all of it!!
Well done @funship Freddie for dipping under the 70kg mark!! I’ll be trying to catch you in the second half of this month😁
@jaifaim It’s lovely you remember your dear friends… I think the best thing we can do is let them inspire us to live our lives well🙂
@flourbaby The easiest solution is to put yourself to bed before the clock chimes 7pm🤣!!
@stitchincarol I hope your laryngitis improves soon. In the meantime I’m sure you’ll let your fingers do the talking!!!😂
@molij I dread having a puncture!! I must ask the AA if they look after ebikes!! So nice that you had help from a passing biker. The ebikes are rather heavy… I managed a bike ride first thing on Sunday morning to a dog park for a walk with the gang followed by coffee and my favourite cheese scone!!
@northgeorgia You’re so close to cracking the 230s!!! An old guy told me this morning that there is a big fish in a tank at a local bar down the road that is 40 years old and is crazy about bananas!!
@snowflake56 Just keep at it. A loss will happen!! What are mirabelles?! I was slightly mystified by everyone eating and carrying their plates during the line dance but it did look fun!!
@at So many Michelin stars so close by!!! What temptation!!
@ccco I’m with @stitchincarol You take care and maybe get some advice from your medical team. It’s not a time to be chastising yourself when you’re in recovery mode. Just make sure you’re eating good nutritious food!😘
Steely Resolve!!!
Have a good day everyone. I’m off to bed!!
Thin, congrats on your 10 year anniversary of 5:2 and intermittent fasting. That is indeed a great accomplishment and so much better for your health than being overweight. Not skiing a FD in all of that time is amazing as well.
LJ, putting solar on your home should make a big difference in your electric bills. I can imagine how mind boggling it must be to figure out all the options though. We don’t have solar on our house but this summer I wish we did. We use electricity in the summer for air conditioning and propane in the winter for heating. The propane is more expensive, but the electricity is catching up!
Neil, do you get snow there often or is it just an occasional thing? I’m glad to hear you got your gardening done the days before.
Suzy, I think I may have done a couple 4:3 weeks in the past when I couldn’t get the scales to cooperate. But it seems easier to just cut down on non FD’s, not necessarily to 500 calories, but lower than normal. I hate counting calories although I do it religiously on FD’s.
Cinque, I got the grits and tried some with just a small sprinkle of cheese along with the salt and pepper. It was pretty good. I think I may try a small sprinkle of those Baco’s fake bacon bits that I sometimes add to salads.
We finally got a break on the weather. We’re down a few degrees and it looks like it could last a week or more. Cool nights too. It will help the firefighters as long as the wind stays calm.
I gained 1kg overnight for some unknown reason. No crazy eating or anything. I hope it’s just water weight. Tomorrow is my Monday FD so that should help.
Day 12
Ireland – FD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Hi all, let’s face the week head on …
@snowflake56 i hope the line dancing works to re-motivate you today – it will be fun in any case 💃🏻. How lovely to have a day of fruit picking planned! Yummy!
Yes I have a lot going on at the moment… between some staff pressures which are manageable but make it a little more difficult to plan right now and then my own normal life pressures.. I’m on the road a lot as need to be with mum more now as her illness progresses (I do have siblings who help…) so my car is always packed with what I might need. I’m lucky to have many places to stay at my home place if I need to work etc but it’s not quite like being in your own house/home office. So yes, I feel like a nomad and I wasn’t cut out for that even if I do love travel 😉 Precious times with my maman though so it is all worth it. 💕💕
Good FD @funshipfreddie ⭐️ yes you are so right! It is just food! There is very little to tempt me here today so hopefully I can make it a good one! No scales here either so will be clueless until next week I think…
Have a lovely day everyone and it’s just one day….

Hello Everyone ! Hope you are all well?
To say I had a disaterous eating weekend would be putting it mildly, but its OK because its a new week and I will just start again. (SA had a long weekend and so my bad eating choices began on Friday.) Has anyone tried a 4:3 option when they have been bad 😉
Congrats Thin on your awesome progress and the ability to have sustained it. A girl lives in hope. I am 52 and I do not want to buy bigger clothes, so this has to work for me , even if I just lose inches and my clothes feel looser I will be happy.
My child is still coming to grips with Mom and this fasting thing. She had a Krispy Kreme the other day , on my FD, and the next day I found 1/6 of this doughnut in a tuppaware . I asked her about it and she said she felt so sad I couldn’t have some that she saved me some. Such a sweet child. She is just programmed to see mom eat too much and indulging in naughty treats I think.
Well have a super week all and happy FD’s. The weather is getting warm enough for me to embrace salads , so I am sure I will have a great 5:2 week.
Day 12 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.5 kg
Yesterday’s FD was different than usual, when I had lunch at the mall. Just a cheese & tomato omelette – no toast of course. Then I had an apple & some soup in the evening. Around 700 cals.
@snowflake – she is good! I like her phrase, “if you’re moving, you’re doing it right” 😅 Maybe read something fasting-related to boost your motivation? Jason Fung’s ‘The Obesity Code is excellent. Only the last chapter is dedicated to fasting, but it’s worth reading.
@flourbaby – I hope your decorating is going okay & that your move date is on schedule. Five more days?
I’ve got two weeks worth of laundry to schlep to town, so I’m going to get moving. Sending RESOLVE to the Monday fasters 🎯💪 Remember – it’s just food! 😛
Day 12, Germany, FD
My weight doesn’t shift very much and my motivation is slipping. Line-dance this morning then picking mirabelles, we have loads of them this year.
@merryapple Where are you? I hope everything is fine and you’re just busy.
@molij That must have been stressful, I’m glad it turned out well.
@stitchincarol I hope you feel better soon!
@funshipfreddie Yours is a better video to learn the steps, she’s good!
@jaifaim I hope the cycling cleared your head, you seem to have a lot on your mind. It’s good, cycling helps you.

Have a nice day everyone!
Morning all. I had a good weekend. I didn’t get out for a ride like I was hoping, but I did manage to get a round of frisbee golf in, and got a few hours of work done in the garden. The weather was quite pleasant, so it felt good to get out and get some fresh air and exercise. It’s completely different today, we had snow and hail, so I’m so pleased I got so much done in the garden yesterday. This week will be the first weigh-in since I started on the new techniques to avoid the post-work binge, and also the first week of being on a new calorie tracking app, so it will be interesting to see how my weigh-in goes.
I hope everyone had a good weekend, I’ll catch up with you all later.
@molij hope all went well at the hospital and glad to hear a fellow cyclist helped you out…. Most are more than happy to help other cyclists in distress… 🆘♥️
Had a little cycle today… needs to clear my head.
See you all tomorrow!
Well done as always to the Sunday fasters!!!
