    Merry Christmas to you All…

Happy Birthday Hemmy I hope you had a good day yesterday.

Beef out of fridge to bring up to room temperature.
I have already spoken to James, he’s had a busy day at the hotel serving 5 course lunch to the visitors at £250 a head!

Have a really good day whatever you are doing.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Good morning friends.

I hope your Christmas, however you are celebrating, is happy and safe.

I am in the throes of cooking. Pavlova in the oven (my DIL’s favourite), potato salad made (yesterday), egg custard (DD’s favourite) in the special crystal bowl from my grandma (using the 6 egg yolks from the pav), apples on cooking for the sauce, and just the pineapple to peel now, for the salad (a terrific one with ham and cold pork – the cored pineapple is cut into three spears and sliced finely into triangles, ditto with red onions and the sauce is light soy and lime juice with a chilli for colour. The salad should also have finely sliced cucumber but I tend to add that just before serve it, so we can have leftover salad tomorrow without the glug of the soaked cucumber).

DS and family have gone to DIL’s family this morning, and DD is having a quiet one at home with her family, because my SIL’s mother turned on my DD this year (a pattern – she’s done it with all her son’s wives) and it’s caused terrible hurt.

So, we’ll have our two kids and their four kids for lunch which will stretch into dinner, and OH will put on a santa hat and give out gifts, and they will all love it, and we will thank God that we have him for another year.

I’m going into Christmas lighter than I’d hoped (dared?), and am looking forward to a wonderful slim 2025.

    Best wishes to you all.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Merry christmas everyone.

Today I’m heading into the hills for christmas lunch with my Dad’s side of the family.

I’m hoping for some less hectic days after christmas so I can catch up on the news here. I haven’t even been turning the laptop on lately, let alone reading.

Take care. I hope you all have a lovely day.

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

There’s lots of bugs around, Iona. I was struck a few weeks ago with a sneezing, cough and sore throat that lasted for a few weeks. Kept waking up in the small hours coughing and then couldn’t get back to sleep.

Had the blood pressure check up and weigh this morning. All good and weigh 4 kg less than I did a year ago which I am pleased with. Hopefully I can double it next year which is a goal.

There have been truffles and coconut ice but nothing else today has been excessive. I don’t imagine that tomorrow will be dreadful either.

My plan is to enjoy the next few days and then get back to skipping a few breakfasts. Also planning to lift some hand weights for 10 minutes every morning and evening.

    Have a lovely time ☺️.

Enjoy your buffet Dave, hope the sausage rolls are good- I don’t make pastry, it’s one of the few things I think shop bought is better than mine!
Jean- enjoy your flowers, hope you’re okay, hugs to you 🤗
Nana- was your breakfast out nice?
Very busy today, loads of cooking done, dropped presents off for Mum, putting my feet up now…

Done the sausage rolls not tried them but Denise and Peter said they are ok. Were having a buffet tonight so that will add a few pounds to my weight. It’s allowed it’s Christmas. Will lose it next year. Might open the Bailey’s tonight for some ice in the freezer.I hope you all have a good Christmas.

Christmas Eve – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

I ate less yesterday than I have been, but I lost interest–forgot, actually!–about my goal of FD800…🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s Christmastime, and food is an integral part, so I’ll just celebrate that I didn’t go nuts. 😇 For the next few days, I’m simply going to eat like a reasonable person, but not focus on being a faster or anything else. It’s all good.

I’m about to listen to that boy soprano start off “Once in Royal David’s City.” I have tears streaming down my face every year when I listen, partly because it’s so lovely, and partly because I’m thinking of how proud that boy’s mama must be!

    Merry Christmas, everyone!

    Day 24 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

What a horrible day yesterday?! I had to go back to the vet’s with my neighbour, to have Popsie euthanized. The blood tests revealed that her kidneys were in a very bad condition & there was nothing they could do. It’s odd, because Boo Boo likes to terrorise her, but had stayed away from her for the last few weeks. And she also avoided another cat that stayed close by several months ago, which also turned out to be sick. But I’m just glad I was still here to help Marie. If I’d stuck to my original plan I would’ve been out of town already.

@excelsior12309 – Boo Boo Is great once she’s in the carrier. It’s getting her in it that’s the hassle. She puts up once heck of a fight. But in the car she’s very calm. She let out one little ‘meow’ just a couple of minutes before we got to the cattery.

@stitchincarol – I doubt we’ll be going anywhere this evening once I get to Gonubie. I’ll probably only get there between 4 – 5 pm. I just hope the roads aren’t busy 🤞 I must check out that ‘Lincoln Lawyer’. I’ve watched a few episodes of ‘No Good Deed’ with Lisa Kudrow & Ray Romano. It’s supposed to be a dark comedy, but it hasn’t exactly got me hooked.

Wishing all my fellow fasters a happy & peaceful Christmas. But remember – it’s just food! – & most of what we love our bodies hate. That’s what I’ll try to remember anyway. 🌲

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Hi all, will be hot here tomorrow for Xmas day, 41 deg but won’t really bother me. Miss GDay and I decided after last year that we won’t bother with anything ‘Christmas’ anymore. No decorations, no presents etc but we will treat ourselves to something we want, for me it was my cordless chopper and for Miss GDay a pair of funky shoes which she purchased several months ago during a sale.

Christmas Day for us has always been just the 2 of us at home anyway, occasionally her dad would come out for lunch but this year he will be with his siblings.

Tomorrow Miss GDay and I will be having lunch with my mother at her aged care home. It will be the first time in 10 over years that I’ve had Xmas with my mum. I’m estranged from all of my siblings (they’re doing not mine) so Miss GDay and I don’t get invited to family do’s. This year I managed to get in first and got mum to say yes to having lunch with me and Miss GDay instead of them. I know the only reason she said yes to me this time is because she doesn’t like leaving the care home anymore, but I’ll take that as a win.

That’s another reason why I’m not very Christmassy, it’s all about families getting together and having a wonderful time and for me, blood family just means trauma and rejection. But in saying that I hope everyone here enjoys the day.

Finally a day without wind so I’ve been out doing yard chores since 6am. Typing this as I have my last coffee (it’s just gone noon) and then shower and some inside chores, one of which is ironing but I confess to only having 4 items to iron which for me is about 6 months worth of ironing.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Happy Christmas everyone! We’re a day behind you but the 3 of us are planning our own little Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There will be too much food involved so back to fasting after the holidays. I was doing good for a while but need to learn to manage stress better – without a lot of eating.

We heard on the news that there were bushfires in Victoria, but it looks like Cinque is safe in Melbourne. At least I hope she is.

OH is doing ok, a little better on most days lately. I feed him well! I will try to get back here over the next few days. I need to catch up on all the older posts.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Happy Christmas everyone, enjoy all the festivities and special time with family and friends wherever you may be.

Going to make sausage rolls tomorrow going to do my own pastry so should be interesting. Only ever pasty once before and that was years ago. Hope they turn out or we won’t have any. Raining again here got wet on our last walk done 12000 steps today it does make a difference bowling. One of the blokes I play with is 85 and still going strong. I’m the youngest at 70😁

    Hedgehog…
The dress is lovely fits well, good strong colour and length. I have already eating a few bits then there won’t be much left.. as you I hope there’s not too many food things wrapped up.
Hope you got the stair lift sorted.

Busy day for us all tomorrow, I possibly have the least to do..
Katie sent me some beautiful flowers all reds.. roses, berries and tulips ..

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Nana- enjoy your family get together tomorrow, hope that you have a lovely Christmas, and your daughter too after the year she’s had ..
Jean- have you tried on the dress from your daughter? Good idea to not have too many treats! I’ve not got many either this year, I found a 4 pack of mince pies, not made a cake or Christmas pudding this year ( first time in over 30 years!), and no stollen…not too many boxes of chocolates hopefully for presents…
Dave- well done getting your shopping, and doing some bowling. I’m sure Denise will be able to be excused from the jury service, I would think sitting for long would be painful for her back too…
Windy all night here as well, didn’t sleep much! We did our shopping too, very busy but a massive traffic jam going in when we were done & going home, so timed it right! Hubby found a nice trifle from M&S, he wanted one last year but they were out of date! Hope I’ve remembered everything…saw youngest son, my sister volunteered to go to Mum’s when the stairlift man was there, I popped in later though…she is so badly confused & losing everything, it’s such a worry, hope she improves after Christmas, it’s been so upsetting seeing her like this …made a cheesecake for me, & some other bits, lots to do tomorrow! Cooking all the meat stuff so it’s cold for Boxing day.

    Day 23 NE England

    Scale is steady 🎉☺️

“If I don’t have it now it won’t be happening”.

Family started arriving today, chaos already!!
DH can at least speak today despite his tonsillitis. I think I’ll be okay as I had mine removed as a child.
Had a quick get together with extended family for the one hour we were all free! Kids are getting hyper!!
I too will be glad to start a new year, this one has been traumatic.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

A nice quiet Christmas Nana.Denise as been called up for jury service, she’s not happy. I said she might be able to get out of it. My dad did. I am not sure if I have done it 4 or 5 times. I always said if I get it again I hope it’s a coroner’s court.I can’t see how Denise can do it she can’t climb stairs and whenever I’ve done it the judge was always sending us out of court for a point of law which meant we had to go down a flight of stairs and wait at the bottom.

    USA Day 23 CD

I am giving myself a Christmas gift. Until after Christmas, I am going to make a few days controlled eating instead of FDs. I can’t believe that no only is December almost over but the year is, as well! I am going to love this New Year. The last won was too problematic for me. Time to turn the page!

I see everyone is still very busy for the holidays! 😊 Have a great day!

    Day 23 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD800 – 158.2

Yup, nothing but such an ugly weight would make we say I’m doing any sort of a fast on the 23rd. I know for certain I haven’t had 17K+ calories to make that an actual 5lb gain, but there is certainly a lot of food in me, and I need to make today one where I make future-me choices rather than this-very-moment-me choices. My first thought was that such a day was impossible, I could try it but it was impossible. Then I scolded myself roundly for such language, and reminded myself that such a defeatest attitude would get me nowhere, and that “try” isn’t ever an acceptable word (“Do or do not, there is no try”), so I’ll work on my attitude and will gird my loins, so to speak. The biggest challenge is that the food I have planned for today is heavy on the carbs, sodium, and UPFs, so the first thing I have to do is change out what I cook for tonight’s supper. And I won’t even begin to set myself the goal of only 500 calories, but am making it 800, a very doable number as long as I don’t forget my motivation and determination.

@funshipfreddie Have a grand time on your trip to friends! Will you be talked into a Christmas Eve church service again? I’ll be curious what carols are sung if you go!

@excelsior12309 Unprepared but unconcerned? Yup, sounds like the wisdom of a woman who knows it does actually get done, if not ahead of time, then in time for the festivities to begin!

DS33 came up for the day yesterday, and my sister and I had time to watch two more episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer before he got here; DH and I have already watched all three seasons, but it’s new to Nadine and she’s loving it. Then, with DS33 here, I fed him some leftovers, then we four played pinochle for several hours while keeping eyes on the football games, then watched “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and then “Inglourious Basterds” before falling into bed after 1am…not a choice I typically made, but it was fun. There’s lots to do on the list today, but nothing overwhelming.

And it’s worth noting that my sister’s visit is going astonishingly well, and she’s doing far better now that she’s well rested after her difficult day of travel–it’s a long story, but would have bested any one of us given how long she was up with no sleep. Like I said, a long story, and doesn’t matter.

Have a grand one, everyone. I’m looking forward to the King’s College boy soprano at 9am my time tomorrow morning; anyone else make a point of listening?

Just want to say I hope everyone on here has a lovely Christmas. Ours will start tomorrow with our now tradional family meet up at my late mums favourite garden centre cafe for breakfast. Day 23-No. VA USA-FD 800
Joining the fasters today. My daughter will come down tomorrow, and my son will drive up Christmas morning, so things are pretty quiet. NOT A THING has been wrapped up or bagged yet. This will happen tomorrow, probably. I feel somewhat disorganized, yet unconcerned!
It has been very cold for our part of the country, as @ccco mentioned. Today at work is “Christmas pajama day”. My staff is given to things like this, so I shall sport a long flannel nightgown for the day. I plan on being fully dressed underneath. This could be bulky and HOT.
@brightonbelle, nice to hear from you! @iona72, my son has been sick with something respiratory last week; he says he is feeling much better now. My husband and I have dodged these things so far…@Missybear, enjoy your days of holiday feasting. My daughter got some mince pies from World Market yesterday, so we can make mince pie ice cream. She said the entire British section was packed with ex-pats!!
@funshipfreddie, Boo-boo will not hold a grudge for the trip in the cat carrier. Imagine trying to transport her unrestrained in a car!
@merryapple, I hope your hand is gradually strengthening. @stitchincarol, I hope your concert goes well. You are so dedicated, your preparation will surely show through.

    Merry Christmas, all!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Good morning everyone going to Sainsbury’s shopping and will pop in Specsavers to see if my glasses are ready, they are due in tomorrow but you never know. Would save me a journey.I expect it will be chaos shopping today so going early then bowling later today. Got my thermal vest on and will take my hand warmers to bowling. It was very windy yesterday have I missed a storm? The ice hockey team are Manchester Storm, wonder why.We all used to go and watch them every week, four of us. Not been for a while.Cricket team is called Lancashire Lightning, obsessed with weather up here.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Morning All…
All dry here I shall go over the river bank a different way. No shopping here it’s all done..

A cleaning up day, I have been leaving it till now.

    Dave..
Charlie wasn’t eating yesterday, I left it down as I was going out to Jacqui’s .. it was eaten by I was back..

    Hedgehog..
I shall be doing my special chocolate trifle tomorrow, that’s all I have done. I have cut back on all my Christmas stash too. No special treats made. Just too many calories for one person.
The bird feeder sounds very different, she will love it. Jacqui bought me a summer dress in the next sale it’s really lovely, it wasn’t wrapped as it just had arrived. I have other wrapped presents.

    Day 23 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.3 kg

I see I was on a list of one yesterday, after @northgeorgia bailed out & @at updated the spreadsheet 😅 Not to worry – I nailed it. Although it was touch & go during the card game when the Xmas treats appeared 😳 Once upon a time Christmas only started on the 25th, as opposed to sometime last month. Anyway, I’ll try to make the 27th a CD when I’m on my way back home.

@ccco – books are the perfect gift for children. Anything that gets them to put down gadgets or gets them away from screens has to be a great choice!

@iona72 – oh no?! I hope you manage to dodge whatever’s going around. My next-door neighbours are also sick, as well as the father of one of them, who stays in the cottage opposite them.

@merryapple – a +1 kg drop before a FD?! 💪 How are you getting on with your dodgy hand?

I’m off to the cattery with Boo Boo in a couple of hours. I always feel so guilty, & I’m not sure who’s the most traumatised when I have to put her in the cat carrier. Luckily cats seem to have short memories & she won’t hate me for too long after she gets home 😾

Jean- you’ve kept your weight really stable for a long time, well done! Let me know if you do try making Welsh cakes…have you made any of your usual goodies for Christmas? Your dates or trifle?
Dave- hope Chloe is okay, greyhounds can’t afford to not eat, they don’t have anything spare!
A lovely walk for Xena & I this morning, it was chilly but bright. Did our usual Church, have made some crackers for me this afternoon & some food for the birds, I bought a lovely china tea cup & saucer feeder for Mum’s Christmas present, so have filled that up. We had fish in a cream, lemon & cheese sauce tonight, lots of veggies too. I was half a pound up this morning after not sticking to keto yesterday, it doesn’t seem to be affecting me having the odd cheat day at the moment.
Busy day tomorrow, have to do the last minute shopping & an engineer is coming out to look at the stairlift at Mum’s, plus bits to drop off at son’s!

    USA Day 22 NFD

I am glad to see that everyone is enjoying the season. It is brutally cold today! I ran to the grocery store for some last minute food for Christmas and I could barely leave my front porch. The grocery stores are jam packed. Usually that is an issue at Thanksgiving and not Christmas! Well, I am as ready as I am going to get for my feast and with presents. I mostly enjoy giving presents to my grandparents. They are fun to buy and fun to see their little faces light up. I bought some books for the children, too, and that was particularly fun because now they are old enough for me to take their personalities into consideration. This year, I also wrote personal messages in the cover. Maybe when they are older, they will read them and remember me. I still have the very last letter my mother wrote to me before she passed away. It’s nice to have something like that.

Iona72, so sorry you are not well. This is definitely not the time of year to be unwell. Get well quickly!

Well, gotta go! Too much going on! Happy Holidays! 👍🏻

Good afternoon everyone wet again here and still no roof repairs.Difficult to get anyone at this time of year. Chloe had nothing to eat yesterday so I made her scrambled eggs and toast today, it didn’t last very long😁. Always a worry when they don’t eat, Don’t like December anymore because that’s when I lost Heidi,I still she’s a year or two for her. Best food I ever had but I must admit Chloe’s on a par with her now. Boots my collie was the most intelligent dog I ever had but he was more Denise’s dog. Got him as a puppy.Heidi was over a year old and Chloe was over 4. Had a few cats as well and various fish, birds and 3 tortoise 😁. So a you can see I like having a pet about. Only 3°C here and rain yet again. Weight is going on with all the naughty stuff but not bothering with any beer this Christmas. Might get some for new years eve. What you all up to?

@excelsior12309 – I’ve heard that too, that many of these neurological conditions run in families. Looking back, I think my mother’s brother was autistic, & definitely my cousin.

@missybear – that Christmas with just your two cats sounds blissful. Maybe next year I can swing it so it’s just me & Boo Boo. It’ll never be two cats though, cos she’s never met another cat she didn’t loathe 😼 I’m not sure how I’d feel about your potential buyers re-appearing; & with a lower offer?! Very irritating. If I wasn’t in a hurry to sell I think I’d be tempted to tell them the price has actually gone up, or at least refuse to lower it! If they really want it, they’ll pay what you’re asking.

@ccco – I’m pretty sure gluten isn’t a preservative. It occurs naturally in most grains – it’s what makes bread chewy – & can be added to other food to add texture & flavour. I hope all goes well with your MRI! 🙏

@molij – I loved the Instagram video 😂 You really shouldn’t feel like you let down your daughter. How could you have known? Even now there’s still not much known about it. And every person is unique. Unless it’s very severe, you can talk to three different psychologists & get three different opinions. Some people get diagnosed in their 70’s or older, if ever. The older we get, the better we get at ‘masking’. I saw on the news about the huge number of hospital admissions due to flu, Covid etc this year in the UK. I think they said it’s close to 4 times the number from last year.

@stitchincarol – good to hear you sorted out your sister’s meds! It sounds like she’ll be keeping you on your toes this week. I must admit those thoughts go through my mind too, whenever I see a very overweight person struggling with mobility. I recently had to get an Uber, & the driver, who wasn’t even old, was enormous! How he even squeezed himself into that little car is a mystery. His belly was squashed up against the steering wheel too.

Leaving for the vet’s just now, with my line-dancing teacher + Popsie the cat (Boo Boo’s nemesis) I’m amazed she found a vet’s open on a Sunday morning, but it’s only 9 – 10 am. Marie has problems lifting the carrier in & out of the car, so I offered to go with her. He cat seems to be losing control of her bladder, so we’re hoping they can do something.🤞🤞

    Happy S☀️nday!

Merry Christmas to everybody and all the dogs as well. Chloe off her food today not had anything. It was late yesterday when she did have food. Maybe she’s fed up of the same thing each day. It worries me when she dosent eat but all dogs do it at sometime. Might buy a small chicken for her for Christmas.
