2nd Post – Day 7
Pocket List – Day 7 🍌
@northgeorgia
@ccco
USA. Day 7. FD
Yesterday I went off the wagon. Today will be a FD but I still feel so stuffed that I don’t think I could eat if I wanted to.
Of course you are welcome, Bert1802.
I hope everyone is having a great day. Off to play golf with my daughter. 🤗
Afternoon…
Fasting til dinner tonight, getting used to the long fasts! Dave, you might be joining me next week then?!
Hemmy- I don’t have room for many flowers or shrubs so I have lots of pots too, I’ll take Mum to get the summer bedding plants soon & do some summer pots up, still have lots of winter pansies in full bloom…
Jean- hope you can lose a bit with an extra FD …
Popped to Mum’s this morning with a dinner for her, she’s leaving little bits of meals to keep for another day & sis had to throw some stuff out, it’s been in her fridge for days! Mentioned again about sorting her savings account out, she let me take her building society book & was quite happy about that, we’re doing the paperwork for her POA for that tomorrow…pleased she was fine with it!
Have a good afternoon all, cleaning to do now….
Day 7 – USA/GA – FD
Weigh-in: 239 lbs. I wasn’t a perfect angel yesterday, but was mindful and careful in the evening. I’m only up a pound and change today. Hoping for a good FD. I have a minefield ahead this month starting with a Chamber of Commerce breakfast tomorrow morning, and one in the evening the following week, and vacation at the beach by month’s end.
I think the adage to eat less, eat under TDEE, eat proteins, vegetables, and good calories, will serve me well.
Pocket List – Day 7 🍌
@northgeorgia
Hemmy..
Your garden always sounds lovely… have you ever counted your pots? Well done on not having wine, once the habits broken it’s much better.. I am trying breaking my chocolate and biscuit habit.. I was so good for a long time once it starts it’s got you. Have a great weekend..
Dave..
Denise’s leg sounds so bad I feel for her… it must be red raw. It will be a long time to repair.
Thinking of you on your funeral day…
Jean x
As expected I gained,3lbs over the last 5 weeks but Easter was in that period and I stopped a few Easter eggs from going out of date. So I may start doing fasts again, not done any while I was on the MoreLife course. Will take a bit of getting used to though.
This is most bizarre.I am only able to post in little bits. Will try to finish this post later! Have been trying for an hour with little success. Apologies for the myriad posts.
I just read this today about women over 50:
…”Calorie restriction does not mean nutrient restriction. But what researchers have known for years is that the volume of food that we eat matters to our ageing. What we have to do as we age is eat less. Think more like this though… “you don’t need a lot of food, just the right food.”
A tiny bit of light science….
As food is digested, mitochondria in our cells convert calories into energy. A by-product of this process are free-radicals. These are oxidising agents that can deteriorate the body from the inside-out, just as oxidisation forms rust on iron, ultimately destroying it. Excess free radicals can stiffen arteries, increase brain inflammation and give us more wrinkles. As food is digested, mitochondria in our cells convert calories into energy. And of course as women on Okinawa have shown, regular consumption of sweet potato, turmeric and seaweed helps to minimise the genetic triggers of the production of free radicals without causing hunger
second post
A huge welcome back @bert1802, it is so lovely to have you back again.
I think a lot of us have lurched along this WOL/E road, some staying on the wagon, some clinging on by a fingernail and some like me falling off the wagon, watching it disappear over the hill and then eating like there is no tomorrow . Hence I am back here again, posting for accountability, reading others’ journeys and motivated and solved to do 5:2 as it is supposed to be done – actually fasting on FDs and keeping to/under TDEE on NFDs.
second post. I have just tried to post 3 times without success so will try again later. Apologies if you suddenly see 3 posts the same from me !!
Good morning everyone, yes I agree with Jean I never knock off calories gained by doing exercise. HH they told Denise her right leg is really bad and she as to have the bandages changed three times a week from now on. She describes her leg as something out of an horror film. Said they’d no skin left after they take the bandage off. It’s true what they say when you get older all your friends from years ago seem to disappear.I don’t see many of them now but have new friends who I see regularly. Good you had a cow free walk Jean. Not sure what will happen after the funeral service, they have made arrangements to go to a golf club after the service. I would like to go but it depends if anyone is going, I’m getting a lift to the crematorium but I don’t think he will be going to the golf club after because he’s driving. If I can get a lift off someone who is going then I will go, if not I’ll come home. Better get weighed now then take Chloe out. Not confident about losing weight this time, but I have lost weight every other time in the last year apart from when I gained a stone and a half in a week at Benidorm 😱.
Day 7- South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@brightonbelle – enjoy your trip! 🇮🇹 🍕
@bert1802 – welcome back!
@northgeorgia – best of luck with your job situation 🤞
@merryapple – your number – looking good! 🎯
All the talk of hormones & hunger, ghrelin etc; makes me wonder if we all experience hunger the same way? The intensity anyway. I don’t fight it, because I know it’ll pass. I just acknowledge it. Of course you’re going to feel pangs of hunger occasionally on a FD, but you just get on with it. FDs are a doddle for me now. Partly because I know the hunger is only temporary, & partly because my decision to fast isn’t negotiable. And I think the longer I do this – the FDs anyway – the easier it gets. But maybe our diets on NFDs also determine how we experience our FDs & our hunger levels? People who follow low-carb diets seem to have an easier time of it.
Line-dancing, gotta run. Happy Hump Day! 🐪

You are starting to get into your tight stuff again, a really well done …
AutumnSky..
Glad you are getting around the calorie counting..
I don’t count now, as you seem to have the usual food to you and get used to the counted calories .. strangely I did yesterday ..
I would count your exercise as a Brucey bonus and don’t include.
Good luck to your weigh in.. my weigh in day is Friday morning.. I have had a shake up this week..I have not been moving much a pound up and a pound down for months not very focussed.
Hemmy..
Hoping Kirsty is still coming on Thursday..

@bert1802 Love to have you back!! You told some great stories of your adventures!!
We have all been through ups and downs but 5:2 is the BEST way to RESOLVE the excesses🤣
@funshipfreddie Don’t know how I missed you????!!!
Glad to see your mojo is working!!
Cheers!!!
Day 7 NZ NFD 🌋🏃🏼♀️69.5kg🔻
We have a beautiful crispy blue sky day here with big fluffy white clouds…
Thanks @lilymartin for the leptin update. When I first started 5:2 I can recall being absolutely ravenous on FDs but that has settled down so I wonder if Leptin adjusts as your metabolism gets used to undercutting your daily TDEE to loose weight???
Lactic acid production post exercise decreases appetite…
I also wonder about lean body mass loss when dieting after a certain age, no matter how slowly you go, with your androgen production falling… Eat more eggs!!
All I can say is it’s complicated!!!!
@ccco Take a breath and enjoy the tennis!! You have been sooo busy!!
We all grew up here playing. The tennis clubs were super social family affairs with summer BBQs.
@iona72 Loved seeing Scotland on your location!! Remember to have a Haggis and black pudding!! The best black pudding comes from the Isle of Lewis.
@stitchincarol You two sound so excited!!!! Lovely to be so close to two DSs!!
@brightonbelle Enjoy Napoli, home of the pizza (I think!!)
@northgeorgia Oh no… Hang in there… It sounds like you do such valuable work 🤞
My friend is traveling to California and for her Visa has to declare all her social media (insta, facebook etc) for the authorities to go through before they will issue one… Any anti the establishment activity and your passport is marked…
The medical staff here have been told not to go to any medical conferences in the USA by their US counterparts…
Hmmm…
Have a good day everyone!! 💪
A week of fast 800 is a good idea Neil.
Hopefully that will help end the bloating, and give you an added loss and you will feel FANTASTIC at the end of your holiday week.
Day 6……. Florida……….FD
I don’t even know where to start with how life threw me a whole bucket of baseballs all at once. Well, it did and I finally made the decision to take my life back.
A quick glimpse of me I’m a 51 year old tired, fat and extremely hot women. Menopause and I are definitely not getting along.
A couple days ago, a friend on the book of faces posted about starting the fast diet and requesting any information on 5:2
Of course, I sent her to the good doctors documentary.
In this I decided to rewatch it myself, then I fell down a rabbit hole and discovered that losing weight as well as adopting a IF lifestyle would ward me of the menopausal hostility that is plaguing me right now.
With that being said …. Here I am with some new determination.
I finished my first full FD and started my fasting window at 5pm tonight. It just after 9pm now and I’m experiencing my first bought of the belly wanting something. I’m ignoring it…..
Tomorrow, I’ll start my first control day. Actually looking forward to it!
Here is some additional tidbits about me
Hubby and I have been married for 30 years. He is my biggest cheerleader and will join me on any crazy idea that I want to try
I gave birth to two wonderful boys and gain 2 more beautiful kids to my greatest hits list as they have chosen their ride or dies.
I still travel 90% of the time for work and I am diving into the world of healthy eating away from home.
Well, that’s about it….
Thank you again for allowing me back in!
I couldn’t do this without you all
Morning all
I had a shock on the scales this morning. I was up over a kilo to the heaviest I’ve been for ages. I have been feeling really bloated this week, so hopefully that is the reason. But I think being on holiday this week, it’s a good chance for me to do a week of fast 800 to try and get things back on track.
Day 6…. Florida……. FD
Was wondering if I could enter back in this group?
I fell off the wagon ended up in a really dark hole and I’ve managed to crawl out of it. The first time I was here, this group was one of the main reason I succeeded and I need the accountability as well as friendship that goes along with it.
So, what do you say….. can I join?
Day 7 country west Australia FD 83.9 kgs
Up down up down …..
Too many carbs I think. I love bread and have toast a lot of mornings and a slice of wholemeal grainy bread for dinner at times.
I will reduce the carbs and see if that makes a difference.
@iona72, Wales and Scotland are lovely places – enjoy.
Poor internet and mobile reception……being in country WA I hear you my friend, I hear you !! 🙄
Hello everyone!
Thank you all for your support and advice about counting calories (Brads27, I will try not to cheat😉). It’s great to know that everyone more or less said it did help, even for a short period of time, even just writing it down.
I have been surprised about the calories in some items compared to others. I always thought that Tesco organic hummus would be high in calories, but it’s much lower than I expected.
I have enjoyed organising all the information with my details. I can pay for the app at just over £6 a month. For now, I’m feeling my way around. Had an egg (x 2) salad for lunch today with olives and fruit (apple and tangerine) in the later part of the day. I was surprised that it wasn’t as high as I thought it was at just over 350 calories. I do exercise every day, as well as the steps (11k so far today) and never really factored it in when counting the calories.
Supper was spaghetti Bolognese with turkey mince and I made a concerted effort to watch my portion size. Medium sized bowl and not my usual serving bowl size. Lots of water in between. I had a handful brazil nuts which are quite high in calories but still within calories.
Looking forward to weighing myself this Saturday.
Have a great evening, everyone!
Evening!
Dave- hope the funeral goes as well as they do…how did Denise get on with the bandaging, rotten for her.
Nana- that was so nice of your grandson to offer to help! But he definitely needs his leave. Nice you’ve kept friends for all that time! Well done losing your pound!
Jean- will have a look for the paint, thanks! Can’t believe it’s been 3 years since your grandson went to Australia, it seems so quick, has he enjoyed visiting Japan? It looks a fascinating country.
Hemmy- what have you been up to today?
AS- hope you’ve done okay today…
My teeny tiny friend came today, I was feeling quite good with the weight I’d lost & had found a pair of jeans the other day I’d hardly worn I can get into now…but next to Sarah I feel like an elephant 😂 Made brownies as usual when she visits but I resisted. Still not found anywhere for a break we can agree on, maybe one possibility…Got to see if the dog sitter can have Xena though.
FD again today, been really cold!
USA. Day 6. Second Post
Stitchincarol, thank you for adding me to your pocket list.
lilymartin, that is quite a list. I realize we are missing quite a few friends on here but your list really brings that home. I wish them all well, too.
Hope all are having a lovely day. I am off to watch my granddaughter play tennis for the first time!
Day 6 Scotland NFD
Hello everyone
Having a lovely long weekend in Scotland, chilly but dry. Mobile/internet signal awful so lots of catching up to do before we go to Wales on Thursday!
I used to love getting the Brasso out and polishing.I bought a slice of corned beef pie, never had it before but it looked nice. I am starting again losing weight on Thursday. Funeral tomorrow so I might be having a pint or two, one they other hand I may just come straight home from the funeral, over got a lift there and back so will see if anyone is going for a drink at the wake.
second post, almost day 7.
@brightonbelle, enjoy your trip to Naples.
@northgeorgia, I am so sorry for your employment situation. Fingers crossed you retain your job.
Mr Trump has done some crazy things since he came to office.
@ccco, we LOCA ( ladies of a certain age) can be tired due to age, but also due to low iron levels; lack of Vitamin D and lack of Vitamin B12.
The DASH diet seems to be a good one and often mentioned in the healthier options.
@stitchincarol, I hope your back is improving. Not long to go now!!
I came across some Marvellous May motivational mutterings :
1. Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right. Henry Ford
2. Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals. Jim Rohn.
Off to bed before the witching hour.
And just because I have time on my hands ( I don’t but then who does?) I thought I would give a shout out to some former members I found a list of when cleaning out my office this morning.

There are about 50 others but that is all I had down.
I know some people are on different threads but I am curious to know how they are.
I would be interested to know how they are going with 5:2. Whether it has worked and they are in maintenance ; Whether, it has not worked or Whether they are doing different things for health and weight loss.
Day 6 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD
I was very, very gentle with my back for the rest of the day yesterday, and DH did all he could to ensure I never had to bend over to pick up anything, and I’m entirely fine today–whew! We took down our loads and carried it all into the house, but very little got carried down to the basement (finished, where my sewing room, his office, a second guest bedroom, a family room, and the storage room are) because then we ran errands. We didn’t manage to find in stock the outdoor dining table and chairs we wanted, but I saw online this morning that the chairs are finally back in stock, so I quickly bought them before they sell out; we’re not the only ones who love this particular style chairs! Sadly, the table we want is still unavailable; my fingers are crossed we can get it by the weekend of DH’s retirement when DD and her family are here and we have dinner outside at the new house.
We went out to eat with both sons last night (oh, the joy of being so close to them!) and I even had a beer, but with all that we did yesterday, I not only hit 10K steps, but ate little enough that I was down a bit over a pound from Monday morning’s ugly weight. I’m frustrated that I’m not losing weight, but drinking beer on NFDs clearly doesn’t help, and I’m thankful that I’ve found what I need to do not to gain back the ten pounds I’ve lost since last summer. The problem I face is that I’m determined that NFDs are “normal” and I want beer to be part of “normal.” And, truly, I think it can be, as long as I’m highly diligent about observing TDEE. @lilymartin, thanks for the reminder on leptin; I look forward to your words on grelin.
@brightonbelle Have a grand time on your trip!
Okay, time to get ready and leave to teach. Have a grand one, everyone!

USA. Day 6. FD
Lilymartin, thanks for that understanding of leptin and leptin resistance. I am always trying to figure out what’s what with my hunger and eating while trying to work around everything. My DASH diet is working very well. It is keeping my water gain down. At my age water gain can be directly related to heart problems and I have too much to live for to let that get in my way. A bonus has been that my skin has greatly improved. When I read about that, I didn’t believe it. It even eliminates eczema for people who have that. In the meantime, my food choices to eliminate sodium also have the bonus of being lower calorie, healthier foods and that seems to be helping in the weight loss. Recently, even though I am eating properly, I have been fairly tired. I have been considering that maybe I am trying to do too much for a woman my age and need to recalibrate. I have so many things I want to do right now that I am not sure how to do slow down. Now that my grandchildren are old enough to do things, I want to be there, too. Today my granddaughter has her first tennis lesson and I want to be there to watch and to get a photo! Too many moments not to be missed! 🙂 Also, congratulations on your 1 kg. loss. Even water weight loss is a good thing.
Merryapple, I am glad you enjoyed the Auckland Art Fair. My son and I love art fairs. We have the Maryland Institute College of Art near us and they have wonderful art fairs in the Spring. Dinner with the Chinese billionaires must have been interesting. I doubt anyone here right now will be having dinner with any Chinese billionaires!
Birghtonbelle, enjoy Naples! 🙂
NorthGeorgia, I am so sorry that you got caught up in all this current mess we are going through. So many of those people are people we need! My neurosurgeon is also a John Hopkins researcher. I definitely can’t afford to see anything happen to him but the Trump administration has already hit Hopkins! 🙁 I hope you and your cohorts come out on top of this.
Stitchincarol, be careful of your back. If hurt, it gets in the way of everything. I know because I have arthritis in my spine. However, if you need something, Salonpas works beautifully. I highly recommend it. After ripping the inside of my house apart for renovations and then rapidly putting everything back, I am exhausted but luckily didn’t hurt myself! Decorating is fun, though!:)
I hope you all have a lovely day!
Day 6 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 238 lbs. A little stressed today. My program is on a list of about 150 or so others on the chopping block from the federal government on a recommended list of cuts from the White House’s budget office. I hope Congress rejects the cuts, because thousands of people nationwide will not be able to find gainful employment or be able to attend college. Plus, I don’t know what most of my staff will do. Or myself for that matter. We just want to go to work and help people get ahead; I hope we’re allowed to do that. I was hoping to retire in about 12 years with a decent pension. It will be hard to find another similar position at my age in the state retirement system if I have to go. I guess I’ll start looking just in case it’s necessary.
Until then, I’ll pretend all is normal. I’ll plan for a FD tomorrow and eat light today (hopefully nothing at lunch, and a light meal at supper).
PS SHers in Australia, just incase you don’t know about this and would like to participate, flutracker asks you to do a teeny tiny survey each Monday and it gives great data for the whole country. I’ve been doing it for a few years now.
There is a link to the NZ on there too.
Day 6 UK CD
4am start tomorrow for my trip to Naples , see you all in a weeks time and I’ll be back on it 💪
Morning everyone, a sunny one here but there’s a cold breeze.
Hope everyone had a nice Bank Holiday weekend. Ours was quiet but we did have a widowed friend over for lunch yesterday which was nice. We’ve got two sets of friends that we first met in 1970 ,the Friday night meet up friends and the other couple was our widowed friend, who sadly lost her husband to motor neurone disease eight years ago, a horrible illness to watch our friend go through.
Autumn Sky, hope calorie counting works for you. I find writing down my meals everyday helps ,it’s surprising how they soon add up. I went way over my allowance yesterday but I wanted to enjoy my lunch with my friend, will have to cut down today which will be hard.
Dave I hope Denise is starting to improve a little, a cruise would be something nice for her to look forward to.
Jean you’ve been busy with the decorating, we’ve decided that we’re going to get someone in when we next decorate. Army grandson said he’d do it for us anytime but his leaves when he gets them should be spent with his girlfriend. Not long until you’re Grandson returns from Australia, bet you and your daughter can’t wait.
Hedgehogs you’ve been your busy self as usual. Thank you for asking about OH’s back problems, sadly it’s not any better and no sign of an mri scan appointment being received at the moment despite his Dr chasing it up.our daughter continues to enjoy her relocation to Yorkshire.
Hemmy ,hope the brass cleaning has been completed. I always think back to my paternal grandmother who loved her brasses and being made to help clean them when i stayed with her sometimes during the school holidays. Hope Kristy can find a new buyer quickly so she can keep the one in Devon. Enjoy your time with her this week.
My total loss for April was one pound but at least it wasn’t a gain.
Hope this post comes out alright and that everyone has a nice day.
Nana xxx
How do I get soon for sun🫣 predictive text 👀. Nowhere to park at clinic so I had to come home after dropping Denise off, do may as well have another cuppa. Jean where are the cows today hope you can get past them.AS even you book all your calories in on the app no cheating you have to book everything even sauce if you put any on. Best to scan each item.I weigh the sauce and butter once then you know how many calories are in HH lots of bluebells out now and even buttercups which I think is a very good sign, will be a hot summer 🌞🤞🤞.
Good morning everyone there soon is out but it’s very cold. Taking Denise to the clinic to have her bandages changed, then off to Ashton to her bank. After that on to Sainsbury’s shopping so quiet a busy morning. It went cold last night had to put the heating on. I’ll have a cuppa then take Chloe out. See you later.

Day 6 country west Australia 83.5 kgs 183.7 lbs.
The joys of a good FD 😇. Down 1 kg ( mostly fluid – I know, I know !but it still motivates me.)
I have been researching leptin and ghrelin, the hunger and satiety hormones, because I lose a bit of weight and then feel so hungry and eat like there is no tomorrow.
Wondering why I was self-sabotaging so frequently. This is what I found :
“When LEPTIN ( satiety hormone signalling fulness and to stop eating ) levels are low, your appetite increases and your brain tells your body that you need to eat. Falling leptin levels are associated with moments of less energy in the body, such as when restricting calorie intake, fasting or exercising. The decrease in leptin levels triggers a feeling of hunger. You also burn energy, or calories, at a slower rate.5 When dieting( or fasting) your leptin levels are usually considered low.
Leptin Resistance
Leptin resistance is commonly found in people with obesity. With leptin resistance, the fullness message that leptin sends does not reach the brain, so you do not recognize that you are full. Your body thinks you are starving, and you continue to eat. This means that you continue to produce leptin, and levels in your body remain high.65
Cui H, López M, Rahmouni K. The cellular and molecular bases of leptin and ghrelin resistance in obesity. Nat Rev Endocrinol. 2017;13(6):338-351. doi:10.1038/nrendo.2016.222
Leptin resistance makes it more difficult to lose weight because you eat more, and your body burns fewer calories to avoid starvation.
The actual mechanism of what causes leptin resistance is not yet understood.”
I am trying not to make excuses( well, of course I am !!) but maybe this is a factor??
Anyway I thought it might be helpful, as it is for me.
More on GHRELIN another time.
@Fushipfreddie, and here I thought I was getting an apple for being so good….They are delicious at the moment. I love Bravos and Pink Ladies.Just discovered some small ones called ? Pixel. Perfect for a small quick snack.🍎🍎🍎
@Merryapple- wow!! I am impressed at lunch with billionaires. I am sure I would lack restraint. More leptin required for me 😁 The Auckland art fair sounded wonderful. Lucky you.
@stitchincarol, be careful with your back. Coincidentally, I just watched. video on back care before I posted here ! Moving and specific exercise are best.
Interestingly the videos I watched all said that over 50, strength training exercise at least 3 times/week plus 150 minutes cardio weekly are non-negotiable.
Note to self – More exercise is required!
@ccco, well done on the 3 lbs off. Yes looking after GCs can be tiring. We were usually 30 years younger when we looked after children before ! 😊
@penz, @flourbaby,@Iona72,@AT, I hope you are all going well.
Hello everyone,
It is a lovely Autumn day here, but winter is letting me know it is on the way. I have been putting away my sandals and getting out my boots.
Thin, a late late late belated birthday wish for you, but all the bigger because it has been building up to nudge my forgetful brain
https://i.123g.us/c/birth_belated/card/102764.gif
Ha, rather unwise to reverse your numbers, 96 this year and 7 next year! Eep!
Enjoy this last year of being in your 60’s.
Anzac, won’t Magnetic Island be beautiful! Just what you need. I am so glad you are feeling more at home in your job, and hooray for such a good brain!
Cali, I am so glad to see your post, but so sorry to hear what a dreadful scare you have had with your health, an emergency is just what a carer DOESN’T want.
Hooray for the caregiver who you have hired to help. I hope you can keep them until you are fighting fit (I actually wish you could keep them on forever).
I am so glad they could reattach your retina, and good luck doing all the things to recover. What a scare with that high blood pressure too, and the glaucoma.
I have a drop a day to stop my glaucoma from getting bad enough to hurt my vision. I started on one drop and then when there were transport difficulties I went to another, and it turns out it works better for me. I hope they soon find out what works best for you.
How are things going?
LJoyce, ha, poor Sylvie, my cats got fat too. The vet explained that they are primed to hunt for food and so will keep finding it and eating it. I had to be strict about putting their food away after 15 mins. And yet my daughter’s cats have food all the time and are not getting fat! (Maybe because they are still young?)
Quacka, Woot for being weight stable for a week without 5:2ing. That is a great thing! Yay for fasting to move forward.
And ooh the Maldives sound wonderful.
Neil, I had that ‘lightning bolt eye’ without headaches and couldn’t work out what it was. It might even have been here that I got a chorus of ‘but that’s what you get with migraine!’ My previous migraines involved weird lights at the corner of my eye.
I hope you and Mrs Neil are over whatever it was you were coming down with.
Happy birthday to your Koolie, Gday, and best wishes for the week.
Well I am off to get ready for coffee with a friend who has a very productive tamarillo tree in her garden and can no longer eat them herself. I will be the lucky recipient and they might just be my favourite fruit in the world. Woot!
Best wishes to everyone!
Evening!
Dave- hope you can get to go on a cruise, good that the speedway went your way…
Jean- nice you’re seeing lots of Jacqui, grandson home soon! I’m sure you’ll get the weight shifted, good you’ve got rid of temptations! What make is the gloss you use?
Hemmy- did you get the brass done? Every time you mention it I feel really guilty, my door handles need doing but I hate doing it!
AS- hopefully the app will help you, otherwise I was going to suggest just writing down what you eat, even if you don’t add up the calories, sometimes seeing it written down can make you stop & realise how it mounts up- or maybe that’s just me 😂 Did you enjoy your extra day off work?
Nana- hope you’ve had a good weekend…
Did lots of cleaning today as my friend’s coming tomorrow, made brownies for her to take home, & a quiche for hubby’s dinner. Took Mum to see bluebells at a nature reserve, it was a bit of a longer walk than I remembered, so she struggled a bit, but they were lovely…Fasting today again.
Day 6 NZ NFD 69.7kg🔻🌋🏃🏼♀️
The Auckland Art Fair was loads of fun, like a reunion with loads of out-of-towners. I was taken out to lunch and dinner by Chinese billionaires hence the weight spike!! Beautiful food eaten elegantly… just another teeny tiny mint wafer🤣
The fair has been purchased by an Australian and there were more Oz galleries here so good to see work by different artists. A tour group of 400 Aussies came over!! We put on a good show of thunderstorms and tropical downpours!!! It was warm though – 20 C. Now the temp has dropped to 10 🥶 with crystal clear blue skies!!
I had the Texan over for dinner on Sunday evening and made wild venison meatballs with Romesco Sauce and roast vegetables.
I did employ WW RESOLVE, completed the FDs and thankfully, despite 🥂 I am just back under 70kg!! Whew!!!
@stitchincarol Oooh take care of your back… It sounds like you are going to have a darling house husband🤣🤣
@ccco Everyone I know who looks after their grand rug rats gets super tired!!! Lovely to hear you have lots of outdoor activities happening. Well done on the 3lbs down considering you were having a FD break!!
@funshipfreddie And I thought you were rewarding @lilymartin with a nice big red 🍎🤣
@lilymartin Vegemite in hot water??!! Try Miso too. I also make Kombucha and drink it with soda. I guess apple cider and soda would be similar. It makes your mouth feel very fresh.
I see you’re aiming for the 79.999kg mark!! I focused on loosing 5kg at a time, which is a clothing size, to break up my down hill journey.
@northgeorgia Remember to work out your TDEE as a baseline and go from there…
@excelsior12409 How lovely to have a break and potter around your garden. I always envy people who have snow because it helps to control the weed species and pretty wee floral ground cover🤣. We have Darwinian weeds here… survival of the fittest that behave like triffids… The vines will choke the trees if I let them…
@brightonbelle Sending💪for your refocus!! Hope you had a lovely break!!
@jaifaim Your hiking and biking trips sound gorgeous, just like you!! The Wicklow Mountains look quite gentle compared with our mountain terrain, which makes for perfectly enjoyable walking!!
@at You’ve got this, although 2kg is quite a large loss in a month… With your amount of exercise, keep up the protein intake…
Thanks for the spreadsheet. I love using it because it keeps me honest but also shows how natural it is to go 🔺and🔻throughout the week depending on the type and amount food consumed. I have learned to not throw the baby out with the bath water and loose it because my daily weigh went🔺
Have a great day everyone!!
HH where Denise does her Spanish lessons is right on the reservoir. The room what she does it is about 5 yards from the reservoir.I opened my phone yesterday and a video of the resavoir cane up with Heidi walking about😭😭😭. Speedway was closed,a last heat decider. But the Aces won.Two days to my weigh-in, not at all confident this time. Denise is looking at cruise’s for next year so I better get saving up.
Day 5 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
Did some packing and took a load down on Saturday, mostly relaxed yesterday, and today I’ve begun tackling two of our five bookshelves. I managed to make a good-sized pile of books to donate before I did something painful to my back when I was carrying too big a load of books up the stairs. Gah. So I took some ibuprofen and am resting now, waiting for it to kick in, and then I’ll be VERY behaved in what I attempt!
DH is more interested in furniture choices and arrangement than ever before in our marriage, so there’s been all sorts of discussion and compromising– another challenge of moving I hadn’t anticipated! 🤣
Two more Sundays. It’s getting hard.
Have a grand one, everyone!
Good afternoon everyone. Xxxx
Ohh its such a change in temp especially over the fields this morning.
I need my brass cleaning its my dreaded job I detest it but it so suits this old cottage, lol. Maybe just do a bit a day through the week.
Later lunch again .. cheese and onion toastie .. then the rest of the prawn stirfry this evening.
Its a very quiet weekend here but I have to say I am enjoying it lol. Just easy food,, a bit of gardening .. readng ..
A S .. Yes I think its a good idea to count cals to start then you soon get to know how to work on how many you need to lose.
I always say there is a trigger that makes us want to eat non stop .. mine is wine… it makes me crave sweet things. My friend is the same but craves savoury things.
Another friend is crisps once started she cant stop. Find your trigger. lol
Dave.. It sounds like a busy day of sport for you.. It feels like Sunday.
H H I hope you find a lovely holiday place soon.
Sym.. You can lose that 5lb no prob. Just go back to how you started.
Enjoy the afternoon everyone. “The mind is everything; what you think you become.”Xxxx
3rd Post – Day 5
Oops? Sorry, @lilymartin – you can’t have @merryapple‘s 🍎, duh? Dunno how I managed that.

USA. Day 5. FD
Sorry I have been out of commission but I have been so terribly busy lately. I guess my age is kicking in because it takes me so long to do everything! 🤨. Anyway, I have lost 3 lbs., which I intend to keep off and add even more. Spring and Summer are so much more active, so losing becomes a little easier.
I am finding it a lot easier to get tired after even a little activity but I don’t know why. Maybe my age is catching up to me. :(. In any case, I do exercise and walk whenever I can, in addition to playing golf and playing with my grandchildren (a lot of exercise all by itself! LOL) If I am losing stamina, I can’t understand why. Anyway, I will keep on trying.

I thought I would join the gang today on the pocket list. Hope everyone has been having a great day!
I thought I would share a word of wisdom, although I don’t know who originally said it.
“Success has a thousand mothers. Failure is an orphan.”
second post. Finally a ‘proper’ FD ( a in 500 calories) completed and went well.
I did feel hungry later in the day but several glasses of water drowned the hunger dragons.
Some broccoli and a tiny piece of pumpkin sufficed for lunch.
Resorted to Vegemite in hot water in the afternoon.
I ate my teaspoon of sauerkraut and sliced egg for dinner VERY slowly and enjoyed it.
Managed to say ‘no’ to chocolate and swerved the apple pie. Kitchen closed and off to bed . Good luck to the other Monday fasters.
@unshipfreddie, oh the joy of good fish and chips…..😋😋And even better with the downward trend.
@northgeorgia, as you said, at least you recognised that you had over done it and that is half the battle, now for the second half which is to action it ! We will all be Mindfully Motivated this May. A FD is a very good start.👏
@Excelsior 12309 your 4 days off with some gardening sound lovely. Reformulating thinking for the garden could equally apply to 5:2 and our approach to it at times. I am concentrating first on health and then on weight loss this month but mostly resolving to have 2 FDs a week.
I hope all the other folk who normally post/lurk are doing well. It would be good to see some more people posting for accountability and just dropping in to say ‘hi’.
Night all
I had that for 12 months the paid version, changed to My Net Diary now. I always get the paid version generally better but I did use myfitnesspal for a few years the free version.I can scan a meal now and it uses AI to work out the calories and nutrients. Not sure it’s 100% though. Speedway was close Aces beat Sheffield in a last heat decider. They ride against each other again tonight in Sheffield but will be an easy win for Sheffield. My dog used to run at the same place😁
Downloaded ‘Nutcracheck’ and have uploaded all my details and calories per day.
Added the meal that I am having for lunch which is broccoli, lentils, hummus and homemade dumplings, with a banana. Seems easy enough. 😃
Thank you Jean and Brads27 for the advice.
I will start counting today as I haven’t eaten yet. I will see if I can download a free app that will help me.😊
Day 5 – USA/GA – FD
Weigh-in: 241 lbs. I knew I was overdoing it yesterday, which I guess is better than not realizing it. Time to get back to mindfulness for the week. I am a pound lighter over last Monday, though.
