Yo Yo effect

  • I am finding that most weeks (6 wks in) i put on the weight lost after a non fast day. Example on a 4:3
    Fast Sunday 78.8
    Fast Tuesaday 79.4
    Fast Friday 79.2

    I have successfully lost 6.2kgs in first 4 wks but generally most wks see a yo yo effect.

    Water/salt retention?

    Anyone else have this. I do not exceed tdee but don’t ever eat my tdee cals either.

    Everyones weight fluctuates during the course of time due to how hydrated or not, how much partially digested food is in transit etc. Weight can vary by several pounds over the course of a single day. It stands to reason that you’ll have more partially digested food in your gut the day after a non fast day than a fast day.
    It is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

    The average weight loss on 5:2 is about a pound a week. You are way ahead. If you are to reach that average (and you may) that means you will have weeks (much less days) when you either don’t lose weight, or gain weight.

    It is normal.

    I just did my first week. My weight bounced back 900g between yesterday morning and this morning. D:

    Thanks heaps everyone. I saw a loss finally yesterday. Fast day tomorrow so hopefully this trend will continue 🙂

    And my weight is down 800g again this morning. This yo-yo-ing is weird!
