  • I’m in celebration mode. I’ve completed three months on 5:2 and lost 15kgs. Totally delighted.

    A few thoughts…
I stuck religiously to my fast days. I didn’t count calories, except on fast days. I steered clear of alcohol. My cravings are gone! I barely eat carbs these days, but haven’t consciously reduced them.I didn’t change my exercise routine – I just do several walks a week, combined with pilates and swimming. This works and I’m committed to following 5:2 until at least the end of the year. I still have a lot of weight to lose (embarrassed to say how much).

What are some of your success stories?

Frankiedoodle, I started 5:2 on March 9. 5′ 1″ at 129-130. I’m now at 122.5, with a goal of 118. My success story? Went away on vacation and came back 1/2 pound lighter!

Nice one Frankie. I lost 20kg over one year and am now where I want to be weight wise. I find that I now naturally eat more healthy and my portions are tiny and Im satisfied. I do not count calories and sugary foods hold very little appeal. I still do 6:1 maintenance water fasts but I find them easy to do, its not forced, so for me its not a diet. Its a new eating pattern and its easy. Every Monday is like a big reset button. I still have the odd treat every now and then but Im more than satisfied when Ive had it. In fact sometimes after having a piece of cake or chocolate or some fancy desert I’ll even get a sensation of “that was really average” wont be eating that any time soon again.

K-Lo – It’s great to know you can lose weight on holiday! Congrats on your overall weight loss too.

bigbooty – Wow 20kgs! And you’ve hit your goal. It’s great to know that maintenance works and that the beneficial affects of like curbed cravings etc… remain at bay.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Frankiedoodle, K-LO- and Bigbooty
I have lost 15 kilos over 6 months and am aiming to lose another 7 kilos before I start maintenance. I am finding it hard to lose now but I am sticking to my two fasts a week and working on improving my feast days. My success is knowing every day I stick to the plan I am helping to improve my health.

Qsue – Nearly there, congratulations! Must feel great to have achieved more than two thirds of your goal.

Fast Day today!!! Feeling great so far, and I know I will enjoy my grilled salmon and veggies dinner. I have made a conscious decision to have a small glass of wine with my dinner.

    Congratulations Frankiedoodle!
What a great result for just 3 months.
    Keep it going.

I started the 5:2 diet on 18th Jan and have lost 13kg so far. I’m 5ft6 and was weighing 80kg in Jan. I’m aiming to lose another 15kg by August (when I get married!). It is amazing to see the results with the diet, specially if you have an incentive and see it working you really don’t want to ignore the diet and stick to it. I’m having to throw away a lot of old clothes that are far too big for me now which is the best feeling ever! (Not on the finances front though as I need to go buy more!)

So good to hear everyone’s success stories! 🙂

    Well done
