  • I decided to follow the advice given on this site.
    1. I will weigh once a week – not every day.
    2. I will eat the number of calories in my BMR on my non fast days.
    3. I will drink 4 liters of water each day.
    4. I will measure success by controlling what I eat, not by the weight I lost.
    5. I recognize that the fasting days are easy for me and the non-fasting days a challenge and try to distract myself when I want to eat everything in the house.
    6. I will forgive myself when I don’t follow the above.

Good for you! I agree with most points, but not #2.

I eat up to my TDEE on my non fast days and not just my BMR. For me eating 5 days a week at my BMR and two days a week just 500 calories is not enough and I am worried that my metabolism slows down.

I am very close to maintenance now, so will gave to go on 6:1 anyhow.

    Best of luck
    Stef.

What Stef said – especially the good for you bit!

I agree on working to the TDEE rather than the BMR as well. Eating just below your TDEE will deliver good, long-term sustainable results. If you do so (assuming the TDEE is 2000 or thereabouts), your average daily consumption over the week will be 1500 calories, which is at the low end of the range recommended generally for sustainable weight loss.

    very best of luck
