  • Day 17 – UK. Cam – FD
So far, so good – keeping busy (no volunteer garden work as they have avian flu outbreak). Amazing how many little chores appear when you have a ‘free’ day gifted. It’s almost lunchtime (egg on rye toast) and I have reorganised the kitchen worktops – DH worried he won’t be able to find the kettle, microwave or oven gloves ๐Ÿ™‚ – visited the bank 10 miles away to sort out a query over ID (seems they have to check every few years that you are who you say you are!) written up the minutes of committee meeting and tidied the big freezer in the garage (still no free space ๐Ÿ™ )

@northgeorgia – it is disappointing when the scales go up rather than down but it seems you know the reason why – just need to find a new route map to change direction. Def. the NFDs are harder than FDs – I wonder if @stitchincarol‘s idea of milk might help?
@jaifaim – we have loads of leaves, all gold and red, blowing about – quite magical in the sunlight AND I love scuffing along thru’ them, brings out the little kid inside!
@brightonbelle – enjoy your trip up North, I am sure your family will be delighted to see you. I am trying to fix up a trip down south (west) to visit my sister and family – not seen them for nearly a year and I guess it is a good 250 mile trip.

Keep your resolve, everyone fasting today!

    Day 17 – UK – FD

A busy and great last few days but managed to stick to my FD800 on Day 13 but definitely NFDs since then, however I did manage to keep to TDEE yesterday and a good 8km walk with a bit of uphill hiking involved too.

A lovely few hours was spent with DD on Day 14 doing 4hrs of dog walking and enjoying catching up with her – apart from a very short shower whilst on the beach the rest of the day just got better with intermittent sunshine.

Another lovely walk on Sunday, on my own but lovely to stop and enjoy nature and some of my favourite view points with blue skies and sunshine…….perfect!

A much needed FD today – aiming for a proper old fashioned FD500 so must remember to drink plenty of water

@songbirdme – good to hear that your DH is recovering, hopefully they get to the bottom of his illness and you get him home soon
@stitchincarol – Re your headaches…..are you drinking plenty of water and staying well hydrated?? Re the milk drinking – growing up on islands milk was never a staple as no cows equalled no fresh milk but when my parents relocated to Australia I loved “Milo” made with milk – cold in summer and hot in winter!!
@mariaelena – talking of soup I have homemade courgette and lemon soup to enjoy this evening after my yoga class
@amiya – welcome to the October Challenge – great job on that 10lbs loss already
@michelinme – good to hear that your DD is feeling better – let us hope that wheeziness settles soon
@maui – It is absolutely “Better to do something than not try at all.” – just keep going x
@daffodil2010 – looking forward to you joining us on a FD this week
@linda.b @michelinme – I’m with you both about the removal of Covid restrictions – I have a niece passing through the UK and want to go to London to meet with her but dreading the long train journey and tube transfer……
@funshipfreddie – great going with your AF journey
@jaifaim – Happy belated Birthday to you x
@i-hate-lettuce – lovely to hear from you – sounds like you and Mrs IHL are having a fab cruise – loving the idea of “My FDโ€™s are very different here, mainly fish or seafood”
@gardenlily – ๐Ÿ˜ฒ now that is what I would call a very productive morning so far

Just over halfway through this Super October 2022 Challenge – must ensure the 2nd half is a more controlled and hopefully successful one – way too many treats have been indulged……..so putting myself firmly on that pocket list today – I have entered my food and drinks on MFP in a bid to keep me focused and within my 500cals for the day ๐Ÿคž

    Day 17, FD, Scotland

Hello everybody. I went to Aldi yesterday to get my meals for my FD’s, and i thought houmous, i fancy houmous, and there is low fat houmous right! But the funny thing was, the low fat houmous had MORE caolories than the full fat. There was actually very little in it, i think only 6 calories, but it did surprise me. So full fat housmous and carrots for my lunch ๐Ÿ™‚ and veggie omelette for dinner. Same again on Wednesday. Body attack after work.

Day 17 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

Our celebration day yesterday of DS31’s birthday was delightful, with yummy biscuits and gravy for brunch, a good visit with grandma, and a lovely dinner…but mostly, of course, the company of our two sons for the whole day. I ate far too much–not surprisingly, given all that was prepared–and am looking forward to leftovers today.

@i-hate-lettuce What an exotic-sounding vacation; it sounds absolutely perfect! I am in total awe that you still do FDs while on the ship; so very impressive!!

@brightonbelle Well, when a country is the size of England, I can understand that 250 feels like a major undertaking…but, yeah, that seems delightfully short to me, given DD lives 642 miles away. ๐Ÿ˜ข Have a grand time visiting your folks and friends!

@at I was stumped what Milo was, and think it must be what is Nestle Quick here–a chocolate powder you add to milk, right? Yup, I had that as a kid, too! And, for the record, milo is still grown here in Nebraska, although not as much as when I moved here in 1986.

@goal10kg DS26 pointed out to me several years ago that lowfat-anything generally has more carbs, so I’ve abandoned low fat options as you did. It’s still surprising that lowfat hummus (I thought you’d be as entertained by the American spelling as I was by the British spelling) has more calories that the full-fat version!

I ran out of time on Saturday to get any painting done on that cupboard under the stairs, so that’s on my agenda today, and then a meeting tonight. Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 17 – FD 800

@stitchincarol I miss basements. There are none in my part of the world and I loved having them growing up. One house we lived in, the basement had been a speakeasy (still had door to backyard with peephole and doorbell, casement lights, two working plumbed bars, one with an under the bar refrigerator (sadly didnโ€™t still work, but was probably a miracle in the 30โ€™s! ) and lots of closets filled with fascinating โ€˜junkโ€™ some left by previous homeowners. The treasure box of my papaโ€™s photos were found in my brotherโ€™s basement.

@at your soup sounds fantastic- as the weather begins to move to coolth Iโ€™m starting to think soups and stews โ€ฆ I really only have 3 soups I make, a chicken, a beef/minestrone and a tomato soup and plan to try more adventurous soup making this year.

So much I want to chat about with so many, but time is scarce this week – a trip to my college for a reunion this weekend, several yearly vet check-ups and my own physical, and my list today is a mile long!

@songbirdme Iโ€™m sending my thoughts and wishes your DH comes home in the mend very soon!

    Sending good thoughts to all!!

    Day 17 USA (Illinois) NFD

Yesterday’s FD was just perfect – scale goes down 2-3 pounds after one. This is what maintenance is all about for me. DH a bit better with hopes of his coming home tomorrow. Some talk has been him needing physical therapy to regain strength, and possibly in a rehab place, but hope to find out more today. I have a 1 p.m. P.E.O. meeting, will go to the hospital, then Choral Society tonight. I just have too many irons in the fire some days!

@at – talk of soups makes so much sense as we move into fall. But honestly courgette & lemon sounds most interesting!

    @brightonbelle – have a terrific trip!

@goal10kg – like @stitchincarol said, I almost never choose low-fat anything as they have to add sugar to make it palatable. My grocery offers lots of seasoned hummus choices that I do enjoy.

@stitchincarol – am I glad I don’t really like biscuits and gravy? Probably due to the calories, but so glad you enjoyed the b’day celebration with DS.

@mariaelena – yes, basements are in every house here in NW Illinois, mostly to keep the upstairs warmer. How fun you had one with a former speakeasy! Freeport IL’s Historical Society mansion has what they are certain was a stop of the Underground Railway in the basement.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 17 USA/HI. NFD
    Still here.

Day 17 Ohio, US — MFD
    Days 15 and 16 — NFD

Saturday saw another food reaction, this time to some Truvia. I hadn’t had any for a couple of weeks and thought that it was a safe food. Well I was incorrect. With the result that I ate a lot of toast and jam to help “balance” the system. So it looks as though more Truvia isn’t in my future.
Yesterday was super busy — church in the morning, the two hour reading group meeting in the afternoon, and a very long telephone conversation in the evening.
Today the fasting has gone well, I got the full amount of exercise in, even though it’s been fairly chilly.

    @maui Better than the alternative!

@songbirdme Hope you DH is able to come home tomorrow! With any luck, he’ll be able to stay at home and have appointments for PT.

@mariaelena In northwestern Ohio where I used to live, most houses had finished basements, though for the life of me, I don’t know why. That area was once a huge swamp, so people had to have sump pumps running 24/7 in order to keep their basements dry. Whenever the power went out, the basements flooded and that was the occasion for new carpeting and maybe new panelling for their finished basements. It seems that such a set-up was the local redecorators’ dream come true!

@stitchincarol Sounds like you had fabulous family celebration!

Got the closet painted yesterday, but ate a dessert at my meeting, so didn’t feel totally pleased with the day, LOL. And the scales are far too ugly this morning to say out loud…MUST get below 150!!!!

@mariaelena How fun to have had the remains of a speakeasy in your basement! I didn’t grow up with basements, so they kinda spook me out…but I sure appreciate the storage they provide.

@songbirdme I’d never even eaten biscuits and gravy, let alone cooked any, when DS26–then about 12–ordered them at a restaurant. They quickly became a favorite of his, and so I learned to make them. Yeah, they have lots of calories, but they’re a “stick to the ribs” kind of brunch that I make every other month or so. And my biscuits are from scratch, and so yummy, so I’ve also learned to love biscuits and gravy.

@matpi How frustrating it must be for you never to know what food is going to be problematic for you!

@linda.b Wow, you were still working at 10pm??? Ugh. I hope you have some peaceful and reasonable days soon!

It’s gotten COLD here–woke up to 16/-9 degrees this morning. Walked out the door last night to walk the block to church for my meeting and got about 8 steps away before turning around, coming back in and grabbing my winter coat, LOL! We’ll have 70s/20s starting on Thursday, so the lovely temps aren’t completely done, but they’re clearly coming to a rapid end. Oh well, at least the cold temperatures and falling leaves mean Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming just as rapidly!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 18 – 16:8

Happy to say my weight is down a couple of pounds to 126.2 so Iโ€™m again centered firmly in my maintenance range. Thank you 5:2. I have to assume the weight training I continue to do is a positive factor as well. I am strict about 2X a week strength training sessions, and occasionally a third. But I often feel taxed and tired for too long when I try to do 3 a week, so that is very much occasionally.

The weather turned on a dime from the high 80โ€™s high weโ€™ve been experiencing to a mid 60โ€™s high and Iโ€™m enjoying it. Predicted to return to the warmer weather by week end.

Two out of three of the Oreo kittens have regularly returned to our yard and Iโ€™m so happy to see them thriving. We set up the kitty sanctuary in our garage again, but I donโ€™t think they are using it yet.

@funshipfreddie I have never been one for gambling, but I did in college run the craps table a few times for some charity gambling events. I enjoyed it on that side of the table – the excitement but without the risk. ๐Ÿ˜€

Gotta run, so wishing everyone the best!

    Day 18 USA (Illinois) NFD

Just not eating much with DH still in the hospital has been good for my weight. Have managed to keep off what I lost a few days ago, and happy for that at maintenance.

@funshipfreddie @mariaelena – talk of gambling is interesting. That’s something I have never seen any joy in, mostly because people I see at gaming tables are almost never smiling! We have been known to walk through casinos when they are close (often run by Native American tribes on their land, or on vacation) but haven’t even spent/lost one $ at all. Now running a table might be fun!

@matpi – no fun having an adverse reaction to anything we ingest. Hope you’re completely back to normal soon. I had to sympathize with anyone with a finished basement. We had to replace our sump pump the last huge storms as water came in all over ours — glad the carpet has dried out. Finally!

@jaifaim – belated Happy Birthday, dear @jaifaim โ™ชโ™ซโ™ช happy birthday to YOU!

@stitchincarol – wow, I bet your biscuits are to die for. I’ve never taken time to learn how. I remember as a newlywed with DH in the Army, we had a very southern neighbor who could practically make them in her sleep. Quite a talent.

Still taking prayers for DH – not positive they will let him come home today, but praying he is much stronger.

    Day 18 UK FD
    Day 17 NFD
    Day 16 NFD

Back after full on few days. Sunday was full on second part of conference weekend. Yesterday it was really hard to even sit up. I managed to get the thank you emails done from bed thoI overate – mostly healthy food just too much of it. I get SO tired by these long days/late nights and my body just wanted FOOD!

Today has also been full on – I’m preparing new training with a friend/colleague to deliver to a conference early next week while also picking up the post conference stuff. I wouldn’t normally do ANYTHING this week but I committed so it’s head down then crash from next Weds.

My 84yo mother also came over for our weekly tea but instead of our planned setting up her new tablet she wanted to sit outside on the garden bench to enjoy the sunshine. Over the summer it was too hot and most week’s it has been too cold, today was really sunny and incredibly warm so we seized the day. She really enjoyed all the late cornflowers, nemesia, laurentia and buddleia around the bench and watching bees and birds and clouds and planes – it was a pleasure to sit together and chat. I sent the tablet back with her for my brother to set up when he visits her next week.

This evening I had a catch up call with my close friend in Devon while making a warming lentil, tomato and spinach soup – a variation on this recipe with harissa rather than peppers, less oil & pureed the lot https://cookieandkate.com/best-lentil-soup-recipe/ YUMMY and really filling! – followed by a few frozen berries and an apple. My FD is comfortably done and under 400 calories.

In previous years i’ve tended to overeat once the pushing through the conference is done, this year I’m keen to get back on the waggon and not derail my hardwon progress. I’m resisting the call of sugar and carb and focussing on drinking lots and getting as much sleep/rest as I can.

Just a quick check in: there was class at mid-day, an acupuncture treatment in mid-afternoon and a two-and-a-half hour class that just got over. So pretty wiped right now. Eating has kept on track, but will probably have a snack, since there wasn’t time for a regular meal this evening. So I guess that I hope the equation 1 snack + 1 snack = 1 meal works out.

Brought DH home this afternoon – he is sleeping a lot, but happy to have him out of the hospital and helping him get stronger.

So dark and cold and rainy this morning, so much so that DH and I did not go out for our 6am walk. He also has bad toothache, in fact the side of his face has swollen, so with the pain and misery of that, the last thing He wanted to do was walk ….and I didn’t either !

I have done 15 mins cardio though. Chicken salad for lunch, salmon and veg for dinner.

DH hoping to get dentist or doctor today…that swelling points to an infection and antibiotics probably needed. Even my reiki did not help much โ˜น๏ธ

@songbirdme delighted to hear your DH is home. Prayers for his recovery xx

    Day 19 – South Africa – NFD ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿท

@jaifaim – congrats on acing your FD! Me too! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Aiming for another one tomorrow.

@songbirdme – Mr. @songbirdme me is home at last! Great news! ๐Ÿ‘

@mariaelena – I can imagine you enjoyed running the charity craps table. Dice has never really taken off in South Africa; few casinos here have a table. Nor in the UK,, from what I remember, But I thoroughly enjoyed the 30 years I spent working in casinos, & it never actually felt like work to me.

@songbirdme – some casinos can be grim places, land-based anyway. Cruise ship casinos are completely different. It’s a different crowd every cruise. People are on vacation & will have usually budgeted for their gambling money, It’s pure entertainment for them & any winnings will be a bonus.

@daffodil2010 – toothache?! Urrgh! I hope your hubby gets some relief today โœŒ

    Day 19 – FD 800

Cold! We are not turning on the furnace as it is expected to warm up again starting tomorrow but I am so chilled this morning. I pulled out my sleeping cap (a knit cap that the elastic failed) last night lol. I didnโ€™t have the foresight to bring out the winter blanket last night tho. My DH sleeps hot and doesnโ€™t mind exiting the warmed bed for the cool air, but I hate that morning shock to the system. Happily I did remember to have my robe at hand, so when my alarm went off I pulled it under the covers with me to warm it up so it was close to toasty when I donned it.

Otherwise all is going fine here, busy but happy. Hot soup is definitely on the menu today. I think Iโ€™ll take advantage of the chill and go out for a walk this afternoon as well.

Finished a photo book of my papaโ€™s army service memories – the original photos were 2 1/2 by 4 inches tiny, so the scans are being printed at a much larger size so that papa doesnโ€™t need a magnifying glass to try to see them. I wish I could be there when he gets the book, but Iโ€™ll see him in December and weโ€™ll go through it together then.

The cold day calls and lots to do, so sending well wishes.

Day 19 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

Yesterday’s WF went fine; I was quite chilly by evening, so had 16 ounces of boxed chicken broth heated up (it was left over from our cooking on Sunday, so I even felt virtuous to actually USE it, LOL), and that amounted to only 25 calories, so I figure that counts close enough to “water” to be a success.

This morning has turned unexpectedly busy, so must go immediately, but I’ve read everyone’s posts, and celebrate the good news, especially that Gwynne’s honey is home!

    Day 19 – UK Cambs – NFD
Quick post, all going well here – went out to lunch with the girls, ate sensibly (shared a cake 4ways for dessert). Only got a short walk in with dog as hair appt in morning so will grab dog and torch and head out after supper. Heavy rain tomorrow so declaring a ‘sewing day’ combined with FD, should be a doddle!
@songbirdme – so pleased to hear hubby is home and recuperating – good for you and good for him.
@MarieElena – your chilly morning routine reminds me of when we first married – trying to wrap the duvet round you when making a dash for the bathroom …
@daffodil2010 – hope DH has been able to see a dentist/doctor to get tooth sorted, a real pain.
Thinking positive thoughts for everyone on a FD today/

    Day 19 USA (Illinois) NFD

I’m still down 3.5 pounds from the end of vacation weight, so very happy about that. Pretty much round-the-clock “nursing” duties these days for DH, but glad to have him home. The work has me not eating much!

@funshipfreddie – you’re probably right about the gamblers enjoying it more on board ship. We’ve never done a cruise, but even still would not gamble. Thanks for caring about Mr. SBM.

@daffodil2010 – sure do hope your DH gets some dental relief! We still don’t know but DH’s ills began right after his root canal… dentist was even puzzled. Thanks for the kind regards about him.

@gardenlily – funny to think about your wrapping the duvet on cold mornings. I would probably dunk it into the commode! Appreciate your kind remarks about DH.

@mariaelena – we debate a lot about when to turn on the furnace or a.c. as seasons change. But I’ve gotten pretty blasรฉ about it and just turn either on when we are uncomfortable. It used to be a “hold out until” issue as well!

@stitchincarol – thanks for celebrating with me having DH home. I chuckled at your feeling virtuous in using up some leftovers. Same here! I know my mother would make the best soups, generally at the end of a cooking week, with her leftovers. It was never the same, but always tasty. Maybe cuz’ she was a Southern cook?

    Onward and downward.

    Day 18 – USA – FD

(Second post) Well, I surprised myself with a FD instead of a CD! First time I’ve had 2 FDs in one week in quite a long time. @songbirdme, happy your DH is at home and wishing for a speedy recovery!

A very windy day here – 50 km/h, but otherwise warm & sunny, too nice to stay indoors anyway.

Missed checking in yesterday …… work and other commitments ie body corporate committee, are overwhelming me at the moment. What was I thinking when I agreed to this committee….. I had a few years ago sworn off committees and yet, here again, I am finding my time being devoured by committee work…. which takes a toll on my work within my business.. ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿ˜ ….. not happy! When I retire I will never, ever go on another committee again.. EVER! (I can hear you all laughing from here! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜)

it’s now later… I actually started writing this post this morning but was interrupted and failed to come back to it…. and yes, here it is 8.45pm and I’m still working… good grief this must stop!

However, good thing too, I see that @songbirdme, not only has her DH, home from hospital but also is maintaining her new weight loss… you go gal! That’s a bell ringer! ๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ”” Very, very happy for you!

So many of you are doing so well this month, I’m so very, very impressed! So ringing the bell for all of you too! ๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ”” (we have so many of us posting this week it’s impossible for me to respond to each and every one, but you’re all winners!)

Where have all the Aussies gone? Long time no see….. I feel lonely! Come back @penz? @lilymartin? @Iselesy? @litprof? and I think we have more as well.

Day 20 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD

Okay, a report: Yesterday, I had a Whopper Jr. for lunch (no cheese, no mayo, heavy on the onion, lettuce and tomato…a favorite of mine, and SO crunchy! ๐Ÿฅฐ) with unsweetened iced tea: 300 calories. When I got home from errands, I finished the peach blueberry pie: no idea, but I suspect 600 calories. For supper, we had fried chicken (I had a thigh, a drumstick, a wing), a little bit of potato salad, and some cole slaw. (Yeah, I really, really overate.) And I had 15 oz milk. After choir rehearsal, DH and I shared the last of the ice cream (a rarity for me, but I couldn’t stop thinking of it). This morning? I wasn’t up an ounce. Not one.

    โ“โ“โ“

That much quantity of food–never mind the calories–would normally have had me up two or more pounds. It can’t be the milk, truly it can’t, but I’m sure thankful for that number. And after today’s WF, I’ll like the number even better, I’m sure.

The other thing is that I slept deeply all night, and slept late, so I again need to race out the door giving me no time to chat with any of you individually, even though there are several things that are niggling in the back of my brain that I wanted to say. Perhaps later.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 20 – USA – CD

I messed up somewhere and plotted myself on the spreadsheet correctly, but did not post the correct date somewhere between day 17 and 19….senior moment!

Day 20 Ohio, US — MFD
    Day 19 — NFD

The last few days have become something of a blur. My regular routine certainly has been blown to smithereens. In fact, I feel that in typical Alice-fashion, I’ve been running as fast as I can just to stay in the same place. Whew! Apart from that, the fasting has gone well today. I guess that I’ve just been too busy to worry much about eating.

@stitchincarol Sometimes I think that our bodies go into equilibrium mode — they want to maintain the status quo, no matter what we seem to be doing with respect to food. That may be the reason for your stable weight for the last day or so, and it’s also what I tell myself is the cause for those pesky plateaus.

@ihatelettuce What a terrific holiday! As the temperatures hover at night here near freezing, the Med seems like a fairy-land.

@northgeorgia I can empathize with heavily weighted weeks!

Sorry will have to get back to it — I just remembered a task that needs to be done in the next half-hour! Argggggh.

Another good FD yesterday helped by the fact that I am in the middle of a very busy time at work. Mind you reading about a junior whopper at around 6pm nearly had me driving to my nearest Burger King @stitchincarol ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ˜‚ I had 2 boiled eggs instead ๐Ÿฅš

Oh enjoy Valetta @i-hate-lettuce – one of my favourite small cities. โ™ฅ๏ธ The cruise sounds fab!

Thrilled to report that I have dropped 2+ lbs this week. This gives me a little wriggle room for the weekend. ๐Ÿคฉ

    Day 21 – Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช – NFD

Good week so far food wise. Now the weekend awaits.

Thanks all for kind thoughts on DH’s toothache…oh my gosh it’s a bad one. He got to see an emergency dentist Wednesday evening, who told him that the infection and inflammation was so bad that he could not do anything until the infection was gone. The whole side of his face was swollen, like something out of a cartoon ๐Ÿ˜จ
The infection has even got into the bones of his jaw…….so he is on super strong antibiotics for a week and then probably extraction after that.

He can only eat soup so we have had chicken soup for dinner the past couple of nights, and it’s been lovely and comforting.

@songbirdme, hope your DH is recovering. Prayers for him. Strange infection after a root canal ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

@i-hate-lettuce, your cruise sounds fun. And we have booked a week in Malta for our 20th anniversary next March, never been, so looking forward to it.

Wishing you all a good weekend. We have Dads 86th birthday party on Sunday so a big day to celebrate with the main man. ๐Ÿ˜

    Day 21 – South Africa – NFD ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿท

Yesterday was a struggle, but I made it. A little over 600 cals. Tuesday & Thursday are too close together though; don’t know why I’m torturing myself when I’m already at my goal weight. I think I just have a phobia about gaining rather than trying to lose more weight. Scales haven’t budged anyway ๐Ÿ™„ Next FD maybe on Sunday.

@daffodil2010 – so glad your DH is on the mend with that infection. Where would we be without dentists? I absolutely hate going, but I force myself to go for a checkup every 6 – 8 months, & the visit is never as bad as my imagination tells me it will be. Enjoy your dad’s birthday! ๐Ÿฅณ

    Happy Fri-yay everyone! ๐Ÿน

    Day 21 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 214 lbs. Let’s all have strength to face the weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 21 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

Yesterday’s WF went fine, and I even got home from lessons by 5:30 (which is way early from the usual 7pm or so) but I didn’t lose my RESOLVE and stuck to water. I’ve been having some strong self-talk about sticking to goals, and behaving well, and think I’m perhaps making some progress. Today I’m choosing to be AF, and the food I’m preparing will be moderate both in calories and quantity, so I’m hopeful tomorrow morning’s weigh-in will be similar to this morning’s 150.0.

This week has been a blur–like yours, @matpi–with nothing dramatic, just busy-ness, and I’m thankful to be at Friday, the day that’s all mine, with no commitments at all. I still have lots of things on the to-do list, but having the day all to myself is a welcome change.

@mariaelena I’ll bet you’re thrilled with that photo book for your papa, and especially that the magic of digital allows the photos to be a more comfortable size for him to see; well done!

@gardenlily I’ve done next to nothing on my sewing machine for months, sitting instead with knitting needles, but I’m starting to feel the pull to head back in there and make progress on the four quilts I have in progress. What did you sew on?

@songbirdme I love that you have a 3.5lb loss as the silver lining to DH’s illness. Is he gaining strength? And my mom was like yours in using up everything and not wasting anything…I’m seldom so completely disciplined, so that’s the source of my delight, LOL.

@metatauta Well done on a second FD this week! So do you say “m’ TAtuh OOtuh”? That’s what I’ve settled on, and if I’m wrong I need to know quickly so it doesn’t stay in my brain, LOL! I initially tried starting with “meh-tuh…something” but could never figure out what the “something” would be.

@i-hate-lettuce Years ago, a friend of mine had gotten to a skinny weight doing WW and then went skiing with some friends; when they got home, she was astonished that, even having eaten 3-4 times as much as she was eating on WW, she hadn’t gained a thing and guessed it was all the physical activity of skiing that burned off the calories. Given that you’re even still fasting while on vacation, and dancing the nights away, I’m thinking you might end up having lost weight by the time your cruise is over!

@matpi What I’ve concluded explains not gaining an ounce is that I really did eat as little as I’d THOUGHT I did on Sunday/Monday, and my body was simply slow to reflect that, and chose to do it on Wednesday so that the scale astonished me on Thursday. At any rate, I’m down a full 6+ lbs this week! Which, let me hasten to say, is not worthy of congratulations, because I should never have been at that hideous weight to begin with!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

@jaifaim How exciting to be down 2 pounds! And I offer you both my deepest apologies on the temptation I gave you in talking about my lunch, and my dramatic congratulations that you stuck to two hard boiled eggs! That’s true RESOLVE and worth of celebration!

@daffodil2010 Oh, my gosh, your poor husband!! So glad there are antibiotics strong enough to help him, and I hope he’s much better quickly! Have fun celebrating your dad’s 86th!

@funshipfreddie You are the example to all of us on how to treat food: as a tool our body needs, not as an indulgence our brain demands. So thank you for working so hard at maintenance and being that example for us.

I got the finish coat on the closet on Wednesday, so today I’ll vacuum the carpet remnants that were in there, replace them, and then put stuff back into the closet. It’s also time to put away shorts and capris and pull out the long pants. Sadly, having gained ten-twelve pounds, I’m again at the stage of struggling to find what fits and what is a bit too tight. SIGH. I was supposed to be 132 or lower by now; I need to remember this discouragement when I next want to eat with abandon! ๐Ÿ’ช

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 21 – 16:8

So, the best laid plansโ€ฆ wonโ€™t make it out of town for the college reunion. Ah well.

@funshipfreddie I can so relate to what you wrote โ€œI think I just have a phobia about gaining rather than trying to lose more weight.โ€ it certainly is turning into a phobia for me. Mentally- without the lower scale number to reward me, the past few maintenance months have been a difficult challenge. Normal fluctuations can freak me out. Working on it, but it is tough.

@stitchincarol – keeping my fingers crossed your good work this week shows on the scale!

@linda.b your Apple and chocolate line had me ๐Ÿคญ chortling.

@daffodil2010 I hope the celebration is joyous!

@jaifim congrats on the 2lb loss! And enjoy yourself this weekend!

@matpi I empathize with how that Alice like running to stand still feels, so kudos for keeping the fast!

    Ok, gotta run!

    Day 21 – UK Cam – NFD
Yesterday’s FD went really well, with the wet weather (and it really chucked it down) I was able to hide in the sewing room and spend most of the daylight hours cutting out bags for presents – trying 2 different (new to me) patterns and using up a load of denim scraps (jeans from charity shop). That kept me focussed and I managed to get a whole day in under 500. Disappointed this morning to weigh-in at 142 (again) but perhaps it will drop off over the weekend (some hope!)

@stitchincarol – I have 2 Janome machines, the older one is my favourite as it has adjustable foot pressure which is great for sewing thick layers but the newer one has really fancy stitches and is so quiet compared with the other one. Spent a lazy 20 min this after chasing fluff-bunnies around the innards of my old machine – mini service much overdue!
@Daffodil2020 – your DH’s toothache sound horrendous – poor thing. Hope the medication does the trick. And not much fun for you either but I guess it’s a way to keep control of eating, all that soup!
@Ihatelettuce – I love Malta, visited a couple of time quite some time ago – we loved the buses that meander about the island. Everyone seemed so friendly. Enjoy yourself.

Right, got to get ready for video chat with DS in NZ and all the family – wish we could fly out to see them but DH not up to it, yet.
Have a safe weekend, everyone, and enjoy your food, sensibly!

    Day 21 USA/HI NFD 16:8

    Day 22 – South Africa – NFD ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿท

Three weeks AF! Yay me ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@stitchincarol – thanks for your kind words; although I must admit – most of the time maintenance doesn’t really feel like hard work if I stick to my routine.

@mariaelena – so sorry you can’t make your reunion?! Re those fluctuations – they can drive you nuts. I mostly avoid them by only weighing myself the morning after a FD. So the biggest fluctuation I see is usually +/- 200g. I think I imagined quitting drinking was going to be a silver bullet as far as my weight is concerned, but that hasn’t been the case so far. Maybe next month.๐Ÿ™„ I really need to start using MFP every day. The last few months I’ve only been using it on FDs.

    Have a great weekend everyone ๐ŸŒค๏ธ ๐ŸŒˆ
