Started today!

  • Hi everyone over the past 18 months I’ve lost 4stone through following slimming world and joining the gym, however for the past month or so everything has stalled and I have decided that I want to try 5:2 after doing lots of research. I’m on my first fast day today and it hasn’t been that bad if I’m honest had a cup a soup and a protein shake along with lots of water and saving the rest of my calories for an evening meal later. Be nice to meet some other newbies and see how we all get on!

    Congrats on your previous weight loss and good luck with your fast today 🙂 I’m on my third fast today (I’m doing 4:3 to start off with) and my daughter is doing a good job of keeping my mind off eating. I don’t eat until the evening as I’d rather have one good size meal and if I eat earlier on I’m hungry all day. I’ve definitely found that my appetite has reduced already so hopefully the 5.5 stone I have to lose will come off slowly but surely. Not sure how much I have lost (if any) as I weigh in on a Wednesday. Hope you find your fast days easy and energising 🙂

    I have started today after returning from a 2 week holiday and feeling relaxed but huge. I found it difficult for a few hours in the middle of the, with my stomach groaning louder than the thunder outside. Then did a, just under, 4 mile speed walk in an hour and felt much better and seemed to have much more energy than before setting off. I thought I wouldn’t be able to walk fast.
    I think I shall do 4:3 this week and then 5:2 from then on.

    PS.I’m not sure when to weigh myself, some people say after every FD. Any thoughts?

    I am going to weigh myself once a week on a Monday morning I think or maybe Tuesday following the fast. As long as it’s regular and at same time each week there should be a pattern emerging I hope 🙂

    Thanks Lliena, just weighed myself after the first fast day 4.5lbs off, wow, I think a lot of it will be water. Good luck everyone xx

    Just back for an update – in my first week I’ve lost 4.4lbs 😀 (I know a fair amount will be water) I’m ecstatic and so motivated to carry on as I can see a difference in my waist already! I’m so excited about this lifestyle change so hopefully it has a chance of sticking this time. The other amazing thing is I am (was) a chocolate addict – I had to have it every day. I bought a little bar of dark chocolate the other day and still haven’t eaten any of it as I just haven’t wanted it! This diet is worth continuing just for that effect!

    With regards to when to weigh in, I’m doing it on the morning of my first fast day of each week (after a non-fasting day).

    Starting my next fast today, onwards and downwards. Good luck guys!

    I have done 2 fat days this week, and feel so much better, no bloating feeling. I really can tell in jeans and underwear. Fingers crossed it continues.

    Hi all I Just re registered on here..

    Sounds like your all of to a flying start.
    I’m Starting again after success on this last year (lost 3 stone) and falling of the wagon (regained over a stone)

    So Fasting today and if I’m successful it will be my first week of 5:2 since last October. I miss the sense of control this WOE gives you.

    Just leaving the office now to go and buy the book. You have all motivated me to do so! Wish me luck!

    Started this week..feeling that something has shifted…but had an indian takecaway last night on an eating normal day…any thoughts please will this be my downfall this week. Thanks karen
