  • Day 17 California NFD

Hi @annz welcome! Let me know if you want to use the spreadsheet and if so I can add you or you can add yourself.

Thanks @neilithicman I started some strength training last night. Aiming for two sessions a week. Is that typically what should be done or more offen?

    Day 17 – USA – NFD

Been working second shift so had to re-arrange my 16:8 habit…wound up with another FD yesterday and gained 1 lb. overnight…go figure! @coda, so good to hear from you…here’s hoping today’s hearing will be favorable to you and yours. @flourbaby, looks like you are on a roll – keep it up! @suki2, congratulations!

    Day 17 FD Canada

Set for a good FD today! @mapti I am trying your advice and going for smaller meals throughout the day. OMAD has always worked in the past but in a fail at the moment. Thanks for the link as well, I am a fermented food fan

@coda I am sending my best wishes for justice

Today’s task- cut out eating dark chocolate and start meditating again

Day 17, VA, USA, FD B2B

So last Thursday I experienced a partial dislocation of my shoulder. Now I’m pretty sure it was just the position of my body and not using my limbs correctly to get up from the floor with mindfulness. (As a yoga teacher I’m usually on my game about getting up and down with good posture) but I was focused on something else and WOOOOP – shoulder slid out and then back in… ugh. Here’s to hoping only 2-3 weeks in the sling and only 2-3 weeks after with no weight on it. (Fingers crossed) Should make for an interning camping experience. (((Obviously I need shoulder strength training – I do loads of planks, but apparently that is not enough)))

I’ve had a delicious 200 cal lunch of garlic roasted brussel sprouts and tomatoes with a homemade garlic avocado sauce. Hope my friend still wants to camp with me as of now I REEK of garlic!

Brief story: my mom always knew for 3 days after I ate garlic, if I came to visit her – she would look at me and did you eat garlic??? I’d say ummm yesterday I had it (or the day before if applicable) oddly enough no one else ever said anything, not even my significant others *and it’s not like they had to be hush hush about that sort of thing, they could say WOW you smell like garlic and I’d be like REALLY? My sweetheart says they only smell it on me when I first have it for about 1/2 the day after.

@neilithicman – When I am dehydrated I will actually weigh more… I’ve done experiments such as taking my weight feeling dehydrated and then making a point of drinking my water weighing myself later and weighing less… Also for me a good sleep will also seem to burn more calories or let go of more weight for me.

@coda – wonderful family update. Sending some good vibes that things workout better and in favor for your Son 5. Hugs.

@lizzy – worry not about making the September goal. Heck if its a loss thats always a + in my book. If you get close just re-evaluate for the next month. I usually go for a -4lbs a month and if I get more awesome, but if I happen to get less thats ok too. Its a loose goal (besides we have 1/2 the month left, plenty of time to focus and still work toward it)

@funshipfreddie – Monday FDs could be challenging due to the minefields of carbs you mentioned navigating on the weekend. Haha and the documentary I found it on youtube… searching for “Eat, Fast & Live Longer BBC Documentary” here at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ihhj_VSKiTs BUT I am in the USA and not sure what thats like for other countries. Sometimes things don’t show up for other places depending on the preferences set for the video. Glad you found a Vimeo link.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I am female in Nevada, in my early 40s. I have always been on the heavier side, but I have been carrying my heaviest weight for nearly 10 years now. I need to lose about 30-45 lbs total. If I lose only 30 lbs, I will be happy. But it would be great to lose all 45 lbs. But I am aiming low bc I have no hope right now. I have been trying to lose weight these past few years but nothing seems to work. I have tried the fast 800 before, but it was an off and on process since I could not focus. However, I am ready to turn this around considering we only have 3 months left of 2019. I don’t want to go into 2020 weighing as much as I am now.

The only thing that is in my way right now is my busy schedule and it is not me who does the cooking at home as I spend long hours at work. I am trying to batch cook and portion my meals for the week. There is roughly “2” weeks left. Let’s see how much I can lose if I put my mind into it.

@rafiki44 – I have put myself on the list. I am not sure if I have done it right. Would you take a look for me? Thank you .

    Day 18 – New Zealand – NFD

Woo hoo, weigh in this morning and I not only managed to consolidate the massive weight 1.6 kg loss from last week, I managed to drop another 300 grams. I’m now 92.3 kilos, under the goal of 92.5 that I set for the end of September with a couple of weeks left to go. I have now lost 30% of my body weight since I started trying to lose weight at the end of January, just under 8 months ago 😁😁😁

    USA Day 17 FD

Rabette, thank you for putting up that Dr. Mosely video on youtube. I have seen it before quite awhile ago but I found it most inspiring watching it again. It was a great reminder of how powerful this WOL can be health wise! I am looking forward to seeing what my numbers will be like when I have my physical this Winter, what with fasting and my vegetarian way of eating I have been doing since the Spring!

FD still going well and today I think will be a success story! Hope everyone is having a great day/evening depending where you are! 🙂

    USA Day 17 FD

Nelithicman, that loss is admirable! Congratulations!

    USA Day 17 FD
    Second Post

Kitchen closed! Eating plan a success! Now to manage to stay away from the wine! LOL See you all tomorrow!

    Day 18 AUS NFD
@neilithicman You continue to inspire and amaze us
@matpi Your dessert was what we call an affogato here in Aus. They are really delicious with a shot of Tia Maria or Kahlua poured over as well as the espresso.
@funshipfreddie Thanks for the link to the doco.
I’m inspired to try some fermentation at home, especially if it helps with chronic inflammation.
Careened off that plateau finally and heading back down again. FD tomorrow and I’m actually looking forward to it. You all are such an inspiration.

Day 17 Ohio, US — NFD (59 bites)

The day has gone well with me meeting all my targets.

@winsome waif Tia Maria sounds like it would go wonderfully, or even halfway decent espresso!

@annz Welcome! 5:2 certainly will help with your goals. And the support you get here is terrific!

@rabbette Sorry to hear about your shoulder and I hope that it heals quickly and completely!

Here’s a big cheer for all the fasters! As Nehru said: “Ever Onward!”

    Second post

@annz your spreadsheet entry looks great.

    Day 18 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@rabbette – hope your shoulder is as good as new soon!. I clicked on that YouTube link, & you were right. The message came up, ‘This video contains content from BBC Studios, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds’. I’ve seen it a couple of times, but it’s good to watch it again occasionally, just to remind myself why I got into this WOL.

    @neilithicman – 30%?! Astonishing!

    @annz – welcome!

Happy Hump Day to everyone 🐫

    Day 18, Emden Germany, NFD

@coda hope all goes well today!

@rabbette sorry to hear about your shoulder injury, I hope your shoulder will heal well. How are you going to teach yoga with your arm in a sling?

@annz welcome! 5:2 is a good way to lose weight, if you stick to it (I didn’t and gained again). I tried the 800 cals a few times but found out it’s better for me to stay with the 500 cals. Aiming for 800 cal I tend to think I can eat a lot more and then end up having a NFD instead of an FD.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 18 – Melbourne Aus – NFD

    Quick check in.

Ate way too much yesterday, but food choices were good, and it was relatively low carb, and sugar free.

Have been sensible today. Out for dinner tonight at the pub, there are some healthy options and will not go silly on wine.

Struggling to catch up on posts but thinking of you all 🙂

    Day 18 FD – Ireland
@coda thinking of you and your son today and hoping for a good outcome 🙏
@rabbette hope you heal well soon!
    @neilithicman bravo!
    Welcome @annz!

Day 18 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – NFD

Failed FD yesterday and chosen to do a NFD today, feeling overwhelmed with ‘stuff’ – tiredness and lack of planning getting in my way. Feeling low and like I don’t care today (BUT I DO!!!) so I won’t be too hard on myself and will try for another FD tomorrow instead. It appears my resolve is firmly linked to how I feel…..

@annz – welcome to the group, your story could be mine! The first challenge I took part in was July and I’ve lost 17lbs since end of May, I’m having a bit of a wobble at the moment but it will pass – I’m in this for the long haul!

    Day 18 UK FD

Enjoying reading all the posts , not got much to contribute just now but everyone’s else’s motivation inspiring me to keep trying x

    Day 18- Atlanta,Ga.-USA:

CD today. Gonna go easy on the carbs and drink lots of water. Today is my early day. So looking forward to a chill and laid back evening. Gonna meet a new friend for coffee and then turn in a little earlier tonight. Been tired in the mornings lately. Think its because I broke my sleep schedule. Have a great day everyone!

    Day 18 USA (Illinois) NFD

Good FD yesterday at 485 calories. Yeah – happy with the scale this morning.

@annz – this is one system that really works. No pills, supplements,or anything that costs a penny. This support here and the links on this site are sufficient. I always said the only way for me to lose weight would be to starve myself. Well, incremental starving has worked. I lost about 35 pounds a couple years ago, and have kept almost all of it off in maintenance (6:1).

Nice to see another American among all this board! 🙂

    Onward and downward.

    Day 18, London, UK, FD

Almost too busy to post today!! Lots of deadlines top meet at work, should make for a good FD, I won’t say ‘easy’ as that’s the kiss of death to FD success!!!

I hope everyone is doing well, thinking of @coda & family today, I’ll catch-up with y’all later!!!

Thank you so much for your support and welcome. Yesterday was good until my son came home late from his game and said he was hungry. I warmed up some noodle for him and I ended up eating half a bowl of it. So I wasn’t on track yesterday. So far, today is good. I walked 2 miles, and only used 300 calories. I still have 500 left.

@snowflake56 – you mentioned the 5:2. Do you find it easier than the fast 800? I thought about it but find that more people are doing the fast 800, so I gave it a try.

    Day 18 California NFD

Tomorrow was going to be my FD but my DH wants to go for pizza. I thought he would be out of town. I can’t do today because I have a board meeting that will go late and so that leaves Friday which is a little scary. Maybe I’ll make tomorrow my Friday and drink my margarita and try Friday 😱

Haven’t weighed myself for a while but hopefully I’m not going too far off the deep end..

Hope everyone is hanging in there!

    Day 19 – New Zealand – FD

Last fast day before I relax things for the weekend. I’m hoping to be able to get some garden work done this weekend and get it all ready for planting the vegetables out in a week or two.

Lamb kofta for dinner tonight and a chicken, broccoli and cranberry salad for lunch.

Day 19 FD country west Australia
    Monday’s FD was …. not.
    Day 17 NFD
Day 18 CD and happy with that
trying for a good FD as scales are starting to creep up again. Doesn’t take much!

Thursday fasters – we can do this! 🍏

    Day 19 – Melbourne Aus – FD
Not a terrible NFD yesterday (probably didn’t need the chips with my steak, nor the second glass of wine, but so be it). It was a wonderful catch up with a couple of old colleagues, always a pleasure.

FD going well today so far. Have spent the last couple of days a bit hormonal and ravenous and eating a bit more than usual, though choices were good. That’s a win.

Not sure what the scales are doing, but I’m just going to keep plodding along and jump on them in the next few days – when I’m feeling hormonal they always seem to jump up…it’s like they’re trying to upset me when I’m feeling a bit fragile!

Lovely sunny day in Melbourne, and the first warm one in months! Walked to work instead of the usual gym session, and will walk home also (about 4km each way). It’s through a massive park, so think the fresh air and a bit of sunlight is just what I need.

@Yo-yofletch be kind to yourself, sometimes we all need a break x

@coda so nice to hear from you and get a family update. Thoughts were with your son yesterday, hope you got some good news.

    Day 19, Emden Germany, NFD

@annz when I started, I did the basic 5:2 with 500 cals 2 days a week and it worked very well but after 2 years I let it slip and gained a lot again. This month I tried out the fast 800 and it’s just not the right thing for me, it felt too restricted. For me it’s easier to eat 500 cals twice a week but others seem to do well on the fast 800. Try out what fits best into your social life. You wrote you’re not the cook in the house, how is the support at home?

@gretta just remember that socializing is important for our mental health, where would we be without nice people to chat with!

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 19, London, UK, FD

I’m still swamped at work, I suppose it’s the trade off for doing a 3-day week!!! Anyway, busy means less time to think about food, so although I’m hungry (at 9:30 a.m.!!!) I’m going to get myself a lemon & ginger tea and knuckle down to clearing my desk!!!

Today should be another 530kcal day, I hope to replicate last nights -1.2lbs ……………. but we’ll see!!!

Keep the faith folks, one FD at a time!!!

    Day 19 UK NFD

Going well slowly but surely in the right direction x

Day 19 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – FD

    So….
a little bit more positive today in as much as I WANT and am LOOKING FORWARD to a FD today. My NFD yesterday was a little out of control – I didn’t enjoy it one bit. I am learning a lot about myself as I attempt to adopt this WOL and I do believe my habits are changing – albeit slowly…..previously, yesterday’s EFS would have resulted in days of the same repeated behaviour, today, I’m glad it’s over! I’m looking forward to my black coffees and water and have a simple supper this evening. I will still have managed 2 FDs this week despite my wobble. I think I’ll call that a WIN WIN despite my disastrous NFDs.

Tomorrow I am off to Verona for the weekend with my DH and some friends. I plan to enjoy my 4 NFDs, we will probably consume lots of vino and enjoy delicious Italian cuisine – I intend to enjoy every minute of it.

September is not looking to be my best month for weight loss BUT I have enjoyed and will enjoy times with family and old friends, life is for living after all – need to remind myself of that sometimes. And….back to basics next week, just need to keep on keeping on……

@gretta – thank you and I know, it is the first thing I would say to someone struggling, but when it’s me! well……not so easy, you know what I mean….
@snowflake56 – so true, socialising is so important for mental health, I think we all need social interaction to thrive.

Won’t be able to check in again until next Tuesday so have a great weekend everyone.

    Happy FD Fasters!

Day 19- Atlanta, Ga- USA- FD

Gonna give it a try today. Had a light bkfast, got a chicken wrap for lunch. And oh… that coffee. Just one cup today though. Been Hovering around 192 lbs for the last month or so. I really want to get back down to 185. I know I need to be steadfast with my FD’s and working out in order to get back on track. It’s just been hard getting up and hitting the gym in the mornings since school has started back. Any suggestions on getting back on track?

    USA Day 19 FD

Another FD today but this time hopefully without the wine!! I hope my FD caloric intake will come in at 425 calories. Everything has been carefully measured! …and not wine!!

    USA Day 19 FD

Well, my day morphed into a TDEE day, as it turned out I went out to lunch. I will make up for it tomorrow! My kitchen is closed!

    Day 20 – New Zealand – NFD

Although it’s a non fast day I’m having a light lunch today, I’ve got some leftover tzatziki, hummus and vegetables from last night when I made some lamb kofta and the kids had pita pockets and I just had the kofta and vegetables. I’ve got some boiled eggs for lunch as well but I’m planning on some takeaways tonight because I have quite a bit of stuff to do after work and I won’t have much time to cook dinner.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Day 20 – Japan – WFD #67

I haven’t been working out that hard lately, but I still have 120 floors of stairs in and a bit over 11000 steps so far today. So I’m active I guess. It is just about 9am, but now I have to sit and work.

I think I’m getting a bit tried of fasting … not sure.

Day 19 Ohio, US — NFD (59 bites)
    Day 18 — NFD (63 bites)

Tuesday night I had a reaction to some new food I tried out and it carried over to yesterday. Even this evening my throat is a little swollen. Food choices yesterday were not the best, but things today seem back to an even keel. I didn’t do my regular fasting today, since I had an acupuncture treatment. With any luck tomorrow everything will be back on track and will be a FD.

I’m a little bit tired now, so will catch up on the messages tomorrow.

Gave a good end of the work week everyone!

    Day 19 California NFD

Small rice bowl for lunch and pizza for dinner. I did decide I wasn’t feeling the alcohol but I will have to do a fast day tomorrow…boo!

@matpi I hope you are better by tomorrow. That’s no way to enjoy a weekend.

@therealwil78 is it possible to go to the gym at night? I know my will power doesn’t extend to making myself get up early for the purpose of exercising. I even have to exercise at home since my will power isn’t even strong enough to make me leave the house!

One more non scale fasting result: I think I told you all that I went to the eye doctor two weeks ago and my one eye had improved one range from a year ago. Well I went back today for a recheck of my new lenses and he said I had improved two ranges and he needed to change my lens prescription again! wow, this WOL is awesome! Now if only my left eye could get with the program!

    Day 20 California FD

I’m going to give myself a boost by being the first Friday pocket list poster which is probably cheating since it’s only day 19 but I don’t care.

    Pocket List Day 20

    @rafiki44

And finally @dykask, if you are tired of fasting you should probably take a week off to give your body a break and let yourself mentally reset. Pretend you’re on vacation!

    Day 20, Emden Germany, NFD

    @yo-yo enjoy Verona!

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 20 NZ NFD

All right, who forgot to shut the door and let the spam bot onto the forum?

    Day 20 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – CD

Another FD done, and hassle-free too! I didn’t even feel hungry when I finally ate at 6pm. I felt like I’d really blown it during the Tues/Wed NFDs, but the scales don’t lie, (or they’re broken) & I’m still bang on 70kgs. Still doing the ‘dry til Fri’ – or even ’til Sat’ and logging (mostly) everything on MFP.

@rafiki44 – looks like your cheating was in vain; you’re still the only one on today’s list!😅 Have a good FD 🍏

    Day 20, London, UK, NFD

1st of the 4 dreaded NFDs!! Another -1lb overnight, so I’m going to be dedicated in this weekends’ effort to NOT gain!!!

@dykask, sometimes I get that ‘I’m fed up with fasting’ feeling, but I know it’s just the self-sabotaging side of me, after-all; there really are NO negatives to this WOL, so why stop doing it???

I’m with you @rafiki44, there’s nothing that would get me out of bed earlier than necessary!!! Exercise for me happens in the evening, straight after work, I get home, dump my stuff, change, stick the DVD in and get to it, otherwise it’ll never happen!!

I’m off to Pilates soon, so I’ll catch-up later.

    Happy fasting folks!!

Day 20- Atlanta, Ga- USA FD

Gonna make it another FD! Looking forward to the weekend. This week has been rough. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

    Day 20 USA (Illinois) NFD

Going to a local Japanese ‘cook at the table’ restaurant for dinner tonight, so saving calories today for that meal.

@rabbette – sure do hope and pray your shoulder injury heals fast. I cannot imagine trying to do anything of substance with a sling on your arm! Hugs to you.

@yo-yo — know you will thoroughly enjoy Verona! We did a couple operas in their Colosseum there back in 2009 during their summer season. What a delightful city! Have a gelato for me. 😀.

    Onward and downward.

Day 20 Ohio, US — NFD (62 bites)

Some friends came to town and visited for a good part of the day, so that forced a change of plans and with any luck I’ll do a fast day tomorrow. At least I’ve kept within a reasonable number of bites. The throat is still sore, so I’m beginning to wonder if it’s something other than an allergic reaction.

@songbirdme Often the cooks give quite a good show with flipping knives at such restaurants. I’ve found that the communal aspect of the “cook at the table” restaurants really changes the dynamics of how we eat for the better. Hope you had a great time!

@therealwil78 Good show! Keep on chugging with those fast days!

    @neilithicman What spam bot?

@rafiki44 I used to do a yoga routine right after washing up in the morning. But for the last week or so I’ve been so groggy when I wake up, that I’ve couldn’t do the exercise routine. I hope that this is just temporary and that the morning routine will re-establish itself.

Hope your weekend is off to a good start!

    Day 21 – New Zealand – NFD

@matpi – There was an advertising post pop up with the usual bad English, I reported it and it’s gone now.

So tired now. I was up until the early hours of this morning gib stopping and then several hours today doing some more. I should get it finished tomorrow and then I can start painting.

    Have a great day everyone

    Day 21 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@neilithicman – I reported it too; so annoying, those spammers.

It’s very quiet on here today?! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend – but not too much in the f & b dept🤔

Looking forward to watching New Zealand and South Africa competing in the Rugby World Cup later. May the best team win! Gulp?! 😳 🏈

    day 21 Holland NFD
    Hello everyone
I’ve been really ill some kind of nasty cold, just spent 3 days in bed with a high temperature and chills.
feeling a bit more normal today,
just couldn’t get round to checking in,
    forgive my silence
In the meantime I have quit smoking AND quit drinking, so it’s not a total loss,
although I have been eating anything I want,

I dare not even look at the scales
