  • Hi Ladies and Gents,

Starting to lose my motivation, I’m losing weight quite successfully but still can’t seem to lose anything from my bum and thighs, I’m a total pear shape.
I realise I can’t target areas and this stubborn fat will come off in time but I’m losing patience, even considering having a bum panel sewn into my wedding dress instead!

At what point in my weight loss journey does this stubborn fat go? should I be aiming for a particular body fat % if so… What %?

    Thanks all

If you are losing weight then you should stick with it! The area’s you are speaking of are a target area for visceral fat:

Visceral fat is body fat that is stored within the abdominal cavity and is therefore stored around a number of important internal organs such as the liver, pancreas and intestines.

Visceral fat is sometimes referred to as ‘active fat’ because research has shown that this type of fat plays a distinctive and potentially dangerous role affecting how our hormones function.

Visceral fat is normally the hardest to lose- it takes time and will happen over time once you’ve burned off surface level fat stores. Don’t be discouraged. I would reccomend including HIIT style cardio workouts in your plan (high intensity internal training). This works the heart hard and can help target pesky visceral fat. Good luck!
