  • Hi all! First timer here and still looking into the 5:2 diet and how it all works at this stage. Not sure I have the right mindset at the moment but hoping to find the motivation and determination through reading about 5:2 to be able to get started on it sooner rather than later. 🙂

Its really up to you to decide if you want to do it. Not sure I know what you mean by the “right mindset”. Either you want to give it a try or you don’t. Its really not that hard and its free. What have you got to lose? Give it a go.

It works but it isnt one of those hype/fad diets where you can lose 10kg per week by eating chocolate cookies. You know the ones that sound too good to be true….because they are. Its do-able, you have to commit to eating about 1/4 of your daily calories based of your TDEE only 2 times per week and you choose the days. Most people lose about 0.5-1kg per week. I lost 20 kg over the course of 2015 and now am in maintenance 6:1.

    Hi tash:

This thread gives the basics and what to expect: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Thanks bigbooty, but I believe you have to have the right mindset to be able to achieve and by that I mean, you have to want to do it and give it the best shot you can and I’m not sure I’m there yet so as I said, I’m doing my homework first which I don’t think is a bad thing to do. Cheers.

Thanks simcoeluv, I appreciate the link to further my knowledge. 🙂

OK good luck with it if you decide to do it. It works and its easy (well it was for me at least).
