  • Hi everyone. Just popping in to say hello. Starting the 5 2 today. I must be around 15 stone but cannot face weighing myself. Blood pressure getting dodgy. So fed up with being overweight and trying various diets so I will give this one a good go and see how I get on. I’ll pop in again in a week or two to give a progress report. Time for that boiled egg…………

Well done Zina, good luck. I’ve been doing this fast diet now for something like six weeks, and I’ve lost 3 kilos (about six pounds) and reached a healthy BMI of 25 yesterday, so I’m extremely chuffed.Since the start of 2015 I’d been going to the gym, avoiding chocolate, doing MyFitnessPal and trying to get the weight down. I found I was toning up and feeling better, but the weight was only very gradually coming off, and it was 300g off and 200g on, very dispiriting. Until I started 5:2. And it’s been great. On fast days I have breakfast of a bowl of muesli, lunch is miso soup (I was amazed to find it in the Japanese section in the supermarket) and dinner is prawn stir-fry with loadsa veggies (no rice or noodles, amazing how you don’t actually miss them) or the huevos rancheros recipe from the fast diet book. Delicious and filling. Yes, you get a bit peckish in between, but you just have to distract yourself from that. I find having lots of weak coffee / herbal tea on the go, and a flask of tap water in my bag helps keep my tummy feel full. So keep going – it works. And it’s well worth it.

Good luck zina. I’m also just starting out.
Pauline ward ~ here’s to your continued success.
