  • Hello Everyone. First post here and a quick question…

I’m a 57 year old man and I’ve been doing the 5:2 for a little under 4 weeks and it’s going well so far.

Question is, is it worth adding a “half day”? I read in another book (not by MM) that to give a little extra “oomph” to the weight loss part of things, you can add a half day. For example, my fast days are Monday and Wednesday, so the book suggests that a 200(ish) calorie breakfast on, say, Friday and then come 6 O’clock in the evening, back to normal would do some good. Worth it, or load of rubbish? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Enconahead and welcome:

Weight loss is a numbers game. The less you eat, the more you lose. But an extra half day does not help very much. This thread will explain the numbers: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/tdee-for-the-curious-or-why-dont-i-lose-weight-faster/

    Good Luck!

Thanks a lot. Yes, it’s pretty much as I thought, so no half day for me…
