  • Hi there, only joined this evening, have around 2 & a half stones to lose, have tried lots of diets before but can’t keep it up for more than a couple of weeks, absolutely hate being fat, none of my clothes fit anymore, the more I’ve thought about it, the bigger I’ve got, then ate biscuits & cakes because I’m fed up! Not quite sure how to use my 500 cals, is it better to eat nothing but fluilds til the evening meal(which I might find easier) or spread them throughout the day? Would really appreciate any ideas for a typical day menu and tips you may have. Hope I’m more successful this time! Thanks alot.

Most of us have ‘been there – done that’ Debbie so dont feel you are on your own.
How you have your 500 cals is your choice. When I started I had 200 for Breakfast then 300 at about 6pm. Now I skip breakfast and just have my evening meal.
Weigh yourself and take your measurements especially your waist.
Remember once you start to loose weight you need to recalculate your TDEE and the number of calories you have on a fasting day.
There is some good advise here

I find its best to keep busy on fast days – spend an hour reading the forum for inspiration, tips and recipes.
    Good luck

I eat fresh soup on at least one of my 2 FDs. I highly recommend it. It’s easy, fast and fills me up really well.

Try out different ways (grazing vs one meal/day) so you find your ideal way of fasting as soon as possible. I was scared of not eating anything all day, but once I started postponing my lunch as long as I could, I realised I was happier not eating till dinner. So variating until you find what works for you is key.

Hi Debbie. I was in the UK the week before last and my friend John turned me on to the Fast Diet. I have just finished my first week. Like you, I have about 2.5 stones to lose. Weight Watchers has been an up and down thing for years. I found the 2 days easier than I thought and got a bit headachy and cranky on the second one. I have been listening to the audiobook in the car, which has been helpful, and really enjoyed Michael’s Horizon piece, which really delves into the evidence base. I really appreciate that perspective as I am in health care and fad diets are all around us, with little science to validate results. Hang in there and don’t fear being a little hungry. I found water and tea without milk or sugar stave off the pains, and I enjoyed my small meals much more than I usually would. I don’t cook very much and it is incredibly easy to be a grazer when you are counting calories. I also travel for work and planning fast days around travel is really easy for me. I keep some nuts and low cal power bars for times when healthy choices are few in remote parts of Africa. Good luck and don’t give up!
